AbstractA significant number of ionic rare earth tailings slopes were generated during the process of rare earth mining and the factor of safety of these slopes continued to decrease under the action of rainfall. This study focussed on a specific tailings slope located in Dayu County, Ganzhou City. Through the utilization of MatDEM numerical simulation software, the variations in infiltration distribution and destabilization evolution of the tailings slope between different seasons were comparatively examined. The results indicated that during the rainy season (May to June), increased rainfall led to increased rate of water infiltration, consequently reducing the stability of the slope and exacerbating landslide damage. Furthermore, the study provided analyses of safety distances under different seasons of rainfall, taking into account the geographical location of the tailings slope in Dayu County, Ganzhou City, and the results of the analyses provided theoretical foundation into ensuring the safety of buildings and residents downstream of the slope.

We explored the effect of microwave heating (MWH) and electric heating (ETH) on the volatile compounds (VCs) of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). The spectral of the produced melanoidins by baking were used to screen samples with similar baking degrees. Mass spectrometry was used to detect the differences of VCs in samples. The results showed a dose-dependent effect between the intensity of absorption and fluorescence of melanoidins, which can be utilized as indicators for assessment baking degree. MWH samples produced larger variety of VCs than ETH. Changes in the variety and content of VCs infer changes in the flavor of pepper. According to the mechanism of Maillard reaction (MR) and MWH, it was deduced that MWH changes the type of chemical reaction in MR by affecting the distribution of valence electrons in the compounds. Therefore, MWH can be used as a novel method to modify the VCs and flavor of peppers.

The long-span Cross-Rope Suspended (CRS) system is composed of a transmission line (conductor), a long-span suspension cable, and an insulator. The previously introduced long-span CRS with a Tension Insulator (CRSTI) has shown applicability in mountainous areas. However, the tension insulator divided the suspension cable into several sections, which made the construction of a long-span CRS rather difficult. This paper introduces long-span CRS with a Suspension Insulator (CRSSI), in which the suspension cable was not disconnected, and the conductor was supported by a suspension insulator connected to the suspension cable. For the purposes of assessment, the initial shape of the suspension cable with concentrated loading from the self-gravity of the suspension insulator and the conductors was studied, and practical lengths in construction could be calculated exactly. Secondly, the structural performance of CRSSI, including its dynamic properties and the loading effect of wind, was discussed by means of numerical analysis. Vibration modes of the structure were obtained by FE analysis. Finally, structural deformation under static wind loading was studied. The result of the analysis showed that the stiffness of CRSSI was lower than CRSTI. The first frequency of CRSSI was 6% smaller than CRSTI. Regarding static wind loading, additional displacement of the insulator contributed to the maximum displacement of long-span CRSSI. Apparently, the displacement of the suspension insulator increased with wind speed. Moreover, the number of spans has an insignificant influence on tension force and deformation.

ObjectivesIn order to give full play to role of "operational concepts" in the engineering process of military equipment development, it is necessary to understand and form standardized operational concept documents (OCD), and study the modeling design of OCD in order to implement the transformation of the system engineering process from document-centric to model-centric. MethodsThis study analyzes the US military's definition of operational concepts and introduces its hierarchical operational concepts, especially the bottom level ConOps or OpsCon, usually as a part of equipment acquisition and requirement engineering. Lessons are then drawn from the relevant theories and standards such as IEEE 29148:2018 and ANSI/AIAA G-043B-2018 of the operational concepts document outline in order to design the specifications of the OCD. Finally, key technologies are studied, including SysML-based OpsCon modeling, UML Profile-based OpsCon framework design and MSDL/C-BML-based operational scenario development.ResultThe results indicate the effectiveness of implementing the modeling design of OCDs. ConclusionsIn the process of equipment requirement engineering, the results of this study can help to improve the efficiency of equipment requirement demonstration through an ambiguous operational concept model and an engineering environment for all stakeholders of the system.

Micromotion targets can enable microDoppler modulation on electromagnetic waves owing to their motion components in different directions, resulting in the defocusing effects of the target imaging features along the azimuth direction. This phenomenon has been widely considered and investigated in target recognition and antirecognition. As a research hotspot, electronically controlled time-varying electromagnetic materials have fast modulation characteristics; however, their imaging characteristics have not received much attention. This study investigates the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) modulation characteristics along the range direction of electronically controlled time-varying electromagnetic materials. Then, this study establishes the time-varying electromagnetic material spectrum transformation model and analyzes the SAR target characteristic control principle. Taking the Phase-Switched Screen (PSS) as an example, a nonperiodic PSS phase modulation model is established, and its spectrum has continuous frequency shift characteristics. On this basis, the influence of continuous frequency shift modulation induced by nonperiodic PSS on SAR was further discussed and the defocusing phenomenon of the target along the range direction was detected. Through the simulation of measured data, the validity of the proposed theoretical method is verified.

Antiretroviral therapy can successfully suppress HIV-1 replication to undetectable levels but fails to eliminate latent and persistent HIV-1 reservoirs. Recent studies have focused on the immunomodulatory agents such as Toll-like receptor 7 and 8 (TLR7 and TLR8) capable of activating, thereby rendering the reservoir susceptible to antiretroviral inhibition and immune recognition and elimination. In this context, this study focused on generating a diverse repertoire of TLR7/8 agonists to identify more potent candidates for activating latent HIV-1 and immune cells’ response. Through combinational strategies of computer-aided design and biological characterization, 159 pyrido [3,2-d] pyrimidine and pyridine-2-amine-based derivatives were synthesized. Of which, two TLR7/8 dual and one TLR8-specific agonists with exceptionally high potency in activating HIV-1 latent reservoirs in cell lines and PBMCs of patients with persistent and durable virologic controls were identified. Particularly, these agonists appeared to enhance NK and T cells activity, which were correlated with the degree of surface activation markers. The outcome of this study highlights the remarkable potential of TLR7/8 agonists in simultaneously activating HIV-1 from the latently infected cells and augmenting immune effector cells.

Given the increasing competition in standards, standard alliances have become a vital choice for enterprises to enhance their competitive advantage. In standard alliances, what decisions must top management teams make to help their enterprises improve their innovation performance? To answer this question, we draw on dynamic capability theory, social network theory, and high-level echelon theory to understand how alliance capabilities and standard alliance networks affect technology innovation performance. We collected questionnaire data from 465 manufacturing enterprises in China, and the empirical findings show that (1) enterprise alliance capabilities and standard alliance networks have a positive impact on technology innovation performance; (2) enterprise alliance capabilities and technology innovation performance are mediated by standard alliance networks; and (3) the political skills of top management teams strengthen this moderating model. The results of this study enrich the literature on standard alliances and provide a reference for enterprises in developing standard alliance strategies, cultivating alliance capabilities, and exercising the requisite political skills of top management teams.

Internet of Drones (IoD) is considered as a network and management architecture, which can enable unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect data in controlled areas and conduct access control for UAVs. However, the current cloud-assisted IoD scheme cannot efficiently achieve secure communication between heterogeneous cryptosystems, and does not support multi-ciphertext equality tests. To improve the security and performance of traditional schemes, we propose a heterogeneous signcryption scheme (HSC-MET) that supports multi-ciphertext equality test. In this paper, we use a multi-ciphertext equality test technique to achieve multi-user simultaneous retrieval of multiple ciphertexts safely and efficiently. In addition, we adopt heterogeneous signcryption technology to realize secure data communication from public key infrastructure (PKI) to certificateless cryptography (CLC). At the same time, the proposed scheme based on the computation without bilinear pairing, which greatly reduces the computational cost. According to the security and performance analysis, under the random oracle model (ROM), the confidentiality, unforgeability and number security of HSC-MET are proved based on the computational Diffie-Hellman (CDH) problem.

With the extensive construction of ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission lines, the fatigue damage of steel tube members caused by vortex-induced vibration (VIV) in tubular towers has received growing attention. Although some progress has been made in the research of the VIV of steel tubes in uniform flow, there is still relatively scarce research on the VIV of steel tubes at various inflow conditions. In this paper, a series of wind tunnel tests are conducted to investigate the VIV of the steel tube subjected to uniform, turbulent, and oblique flows. Three turbulence intensities (Iu = 5.9%, 9.7%, and 12.6%), and four yaw angles (α = 10°, 20°, 30°, and 40°) are considered. The results show that the VIV response of the steel tube in the in-line (IL) direction is negligible compared to that in the cross-flow (CF) direction. The displacement amplitude gradually decreases as the turbulence intensity increases, accompanied by a more unstable response. For the inclined steel tube, the VIV maximum amplitude almost remains constant when α ≤ 20°, while it sharply decreased in the case of α = 30° and α = 40°. Furthermore, it was found that the so-called independent principle is applicable for α ≤ 10°.

Downburst is the main source of extreme wind speed in non-typhoon areas, which has caused a large amount of transmission line damage all over the world. In order to reveal the wind-induced vibration response characteristics of a transmission tower-line system under downburst, the nonlinear dynamic analysis of a single tower and tower-line system is carried out, and the amplification effect of tower-line coupling and fluctuating wind on the dynamic response is studied. Then, the effects of three wind field parameters closely related to the average wind profile on the wind-induced response of the tower-line system are studied. The results show that under the action of the downburst, the tower-line coupling weakens the dynamic response to a certain extent, and the dynamic amplification factor of a single tower and tower-line system is 1.1 ~ 1.3; for the self-supporting tower, when the height of the peak wind speed is close to the height of tower, the responses of the structure are more unfavorable. When the vector superposition method is used, the storm moving speed (Vt) has little effect on the wind-induced response of the tower-line system. For large-span structures such as tower-line systems, to ensure the safety of the structural design, the value of the characteristic radius (Rc) should not be too small.

Objective We aimed to explore the relationship between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) at three timepoints and prognosis of patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 1 year of PCI. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 231 patients with NSTE-ACS who received PCI and were followed for 1 year after PCI. The study population was divided into major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACE) and non-MACE groups. Results In total, 214 patients completed the 1-year follow-up; 32 patients (15.0%) had MACE and 182 (85.0%) had no MACE. The MACE and non-MACE groups differed significantly in age, preoperative neutrophil count, preoperative and postoperative NLR, proportion of three-vessel lesion disease, preoperative lymphocyte count, postoperative lymphocyte count within 24 hours, postoperative lymphocyte count over 24 hours, and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative NLR, postoperative NLR within 24 hours, age, and LVEF values were independent risk factors for MACE in patients with NSTE-ACS after elective PCI. Conclusion Compared with preoperative NLR, postoperative NLR (within 24 hours) may have a stronger ability to predict the occurrence of MACE in NSTE-ACS patients within 1 year after elective PCI.

Disaster investigation results have shown that most wind-induced damage to transmission towers is related to downbursts. To clarify the effects of downbursts’ parameters on transmission towers with different heights, studies were conducted on five transmission towers with different diameters under static and moving downburst wind conditions. As a comparison, the responses of the towers under normal wind conditions were studied. The results showed that the effect of downbursts on the response of the transmission tower increased with the distance between the downburst center and the tower (r) when r < 1.0 Djet (Djet is the jet diameter of downburst) and then decreased when r > 1.0 Djet. The effects of jet diameter on the response of transmission towers with different tower heights were similar. As the jet diameter increased, the response of the tower continued growing until it reached a peak value and then steadily decreased soon thereafter. When the tower height was below 81.5 m, the wind load of the downburst on the transmission tower was significantly greater than that of the normal wind. As the tower height increased, the ratio of the transmission tower’s response under the two types of wind fields rapidly declined to about 0.91–1.01.

This article briefly analyzes Japanese literature studies in China over the past forty years. In the first period (1979-1989), researchers focused on proletarian literature, before breaking through the forbidden area of literature and reevaluating other schools’ writers and works by discriminating the concept of realism. In the second period(1990-1999), literary concepts changed and many claimed that ideological evaluation criteria should be replaced by cultural and aesthetic evaluation criteria. Researchers started to explore the diversity and the uniqueness of Japanese modern and contemporary literature. In the third period (2000- ), researchers analyzed Japanese literature in the “East Asian culture field” and paid close attention to the following three issues: first, the issue of war cognition; second, the issue of Chinese translation of Japanese literature; third, the relationship between East Asian culture and Japanese modern and contemporary literature. Based on the above, this paper puts much emphasis on the relationship between Chinese translation of Japanese literature and the internationalization of Japanese literature studies.

Through journalism, the Japanese literary world diversified after World War II, during which literary magazines and general magazines such as Shinchō and Gunzo played a central role. Works and comments published in these magazines not only offered a special discussion space but also critically impacted the development of postwar pure literature. Meanwhile, Dōjinshi such as Kyushubungaku and popular literature such as detective stories, which were interacting with and contradicting pure literature, formed their own space of discourse as well. It was this differentiation within the literary world that has led to the diversity of modern Japanese literature as well as its richness.

As the slogan of Manchukuo’s culture and literature, when the magazine Manchuria Romantic started publication, the perspective of Chinese culture and literature in Manchukuo was absent. Needless to say, Ouchi Takao’s translation ended this deficiency. Thus, it can be said that Ouchi’s translation made great contributions to construct the conception of Manchukuo’s literature. However, surpassing the darkness of the Chinese literature in the Manchukuo, Manchuria Romantic started to emphasize the slogan of ‘Kenkoku Spirit’. In contrast, Ouchi took darkness as the character of northern literature and labor literature. He gave a positive attitude to darkness, and undertook to disintegrate the conception of Manchukuo’s literature. In this way, Ouchi’s resistance to the colonial rule of speech by his translation is elucidated

We propose an empirical mode decomposition (EMD-) based method to extract features from the multichannel recordings of local field potential (LFP), collected from the middle temporal (MT) visual cortex in a macaque monkey, for decoding its bistable structure-from-motion (SFM) perception. The feature extraction approach consists of three stages. First, we employ EMD to decompose nonstationary single-trial time series into narrowband components called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) with time scales dependent on the data. Second, we adopt unsupervised K-means clustering to group the IMFs and residues into several clusters across all trials and channels. Third, we use the supervised common spatial patterns (CSP) approach to design spatial filters for the clustered spatiotemporal signals. We exploit the support vector machine (SVM) classifier on the extracted features to decode the reported perception on a single-trial basis. We demonstrate that the CSP feature of the cluster in the gamma frequency band outperforms the features in other frequency bands and leads to the best decoding performance. We also show that the EMD-based feature extraction can be useful for evoked potential estimation. Our proposed feature extraction approach may have potential for many applications involving nonstationary multivariable time series such as brain-computer interfaces (BCI).

Experimental development of translational DNA nanomotors recently underwent a paradigm shift from bridge-burning monomers to symmetric dimers capable of truly sustainable motion. The focus of direction rectification is changed from carving the external landscape of a single particle to symmetry breaking from within a dimer. The symmetric dimer construction have the potential to facilitate efficient motors as friction, which is inevitable as a single particle moving in a viscous environment, may vanish for paired systems. However, creating high-performing nanomotors remains an open question from a fundamental physics perspective. Here, we present a realistic physical model for dimeric nanomotors that can be exactly solved to yield motor functions from experimentally accessible non-motor elements by mere physical laws—in a surprisingly rich mechanistic variety covering virtually all advanced dimeric DNA nanomotors invented to date plus major biological counterparts to a certain extent. The model exposes a high-performing regime with a sign of superlubricity for efficient motor operation. Reasonably simple for accurate treatments yet mechanistically telling, the present model has potential to evolve into a generic model to guide experimental optimization of DNA nanomotors toward low-dissipation operation.
