Abstract Background Positive self-perception of aging (SPA) is a well-known predictor of longevity, while how and to what extent SPA is linked with all-cause mortality among older adults is still unclear. This study aims to elucidate the relationship between positive SPA and all-cause mortality and its potential mediators among Chinese older adults. Methods This is a 20-year dynamic cohort study conducted among 22,957 older adults aged ≥ 65 years old from a nationally representative sample. Positive SPA was measured using a validated 7-item scale. Potential mediators including health behaviors and social participation were collected using a self-reported questionnaire. Cox proportional hazards regression models were conducted to examine the association between positive SPA and all-cause mortality. A mediation analysis was conducted to determine whether health behaviors and social participation mediated the association between SPA and all-cause mortality. Results Throughout follow-up (median [interquartile range], 46 [21–84] months), all-cause mortality was 87.4%. Compared with older adults with the lowest quartile positive SPA, hazard ratio(HR) of all-cause mortality among older adults with the second, third, and fourth quartile of positive SPA was 0.96(95%CI:0.93-1.00), 0.93(95%CI:0.90–0.99), and 0.92(95%CI:0.87–0.96) respectively after controlling for all potential mediators and covariates. The mediation analysis showed that regular daily vegetable intake, physical activity, and high social participation explained 41.1-48.5% of the variance in the association between positive SPA and all-cause mortality. Conclusions In this cohort study, we found that high positive SPA was associated with decreased all-cause mortality directly, and indirectly through healthy lifestyle behaviors and social participation. These findings suggest that interventions targeted at promoting or maintaining positive SPA may contribute to healthy ageing among older adults in China.

Abstract Parkinson's disease (PD) is a mitochondria‐related neurodegenerative disease characterized by locomotor deficits and loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc). Majority of PD research primarily focused on neuronal dysfunction, while the roles of astrocytes and their mitochondria remain largely unexplored. To bridge the gap and investigate the roles of astrocytic mitochondria in PD progression, we constructed a specialized optogenetic tool, mitochondrial‐targeted anion channelrhodopsin, to manipulate mitochondrial membrane potential in astrocytes. Utilizing this tool, the depolarization of astrocytic mitochondria within the SNc in vivo led to the accumulation of γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate in SNc, subsequently resulting in excitatory/inhibitory imbalance and locomotor deficits. Consequently, in vivo calcium imaging and interventions of neurotransmitter antagonists demonstrated that GABA accumulation mediated movement deficits of mice. Furthermore, 1 h/day intermittent astrocytic mitochondrial depolarization for 2 weeks triggered spontaneous locomotor dysfunction, α‐synuclein aggregation, and the loss of DA neurons, suggesting that astrocytic mitochondrial depolarization was sufficient to induce a PD‐like phenotype. In summary, our findings suggest the maintenance of proper astrocytic mitochondrial function and the reinstatement of a balanced neurotransmitter profile may provide a new angle for mitigating neuronal dysfunction during the initial phases of PD.

The immunoglobulins (Ig) and polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) are crucial in protecting organisms against pathogen invasion. However, further clarification regarding their mucosal immune responses is required, particularly when considering various vaccine administration routes. Herein, polyclonal antibodies against largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) recombinant pIgR and IgM were prepared, respectively. Moreover, pIgR and IgM response features were investigated after immunization via bath and intraperitoneal injection with Aeromonas hydrophila. The findings indicated that the pIgR transcription level was comparable to that of IgM in the skin, gills, intestine, liver, spleen, and head kidney. Nonetheless, pIgR increased at a quicker rate and peaked earlier than IgM. The pIgR was overexpressed in the skin in the bath immersion group and the spleen in the intraperitoneal immunization group. Meanwhile, IgM expression levels exhibited higher results in the skin and gills in the bath immersion group as well as the liver and spleen in the intraperitoneal immunization group. The ELISA results demonstrated an elevation of IgM and pIgR protein concentrations in the bile as well as skin, gill, and intestine mucus. The bath immersion group exhibited earlier peak levels in skin and gill mucus, whereas the intraperitoneal immunization group displayed a greater peak extent in the bile. Secretory component molecules (SC) were found at about 37 kDa in the bile as well as skin, gill, and intestine mucus, excluding serum, which was close to the theoretical molecular mass derived from the largemouth bass pIgR sequence. The findings have revealed that both bath immunization and intraperitoneal administration vaccination could induce pIgR and IgM production in mucus and bile. Nevertheless, variations within pIgR and IgM responses were detected via various immunization pathways, providing valuable insights into teleost mucosal immunity and strategies for safeguarding against pathogen invasion.

Abstract Backgroud Multiple studies have identified pathogenic germline variants in cancer susceptibility genes (CSGs) in Chinese lung cancer patients; however, accurate assessment of these variants' contributions to cancer predisposition is always hampered by the absence of data on the prevalence of these variants in the general population. It is necessary to conduct a large‐scale case–control study to identify CSGs that significantly increase the risk of lung cancer. Materials and methods We performed targeted sequencing of a CSGs panel in 1117 lung cancer patients and 16,327 controls from the general Chinese population. Results In comparison to controls, lung cancer patients had a considerably higher prevalence of pathogenic and likely pathogenic (P/LP) variations. Among lung cancer patients, 72% of P/LP variants carriers did not have a family cancer history, who would be ignored if germline testing was only provided for patients meeting family history‐based criteria. Furthermore, compared to individuals with late‐onset lung cancer, patients with early‐onset lung cancer had a considerably higher prevalence of P/LP variations. With odds ratios (ORs) ranging from 4‐fold (BRCA1: OR, 4.193; 95%CI, 1.382–10.768) to 29‐fold (TP53: OR, 29.281; 95%CI, 1.523–1705.506), P/LP variants in the BRCA1 and TP53 genes were discovered to be strongly related to increased lung cancer risk. Additionally, with ORs ranging from 7.322‐fold to infinity, we discovered 23 variations previously categorized as non‐P/LP variants were highly enriched in lung cancer patients. Conclusion Our findings indicated that P/LP variants in BRCA1 and TP53 conferred increased risk of lung cancer in Chinese.

Abstract Background Associations between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and common psychiatric disorders among older Chinese individuals have not been well reported. The objectives of this study are to examine the prevalence of ACEs and the associations of ACEs with common psychiatric disorders among older adults in China. Methods The study used data from the China Mental Health Survey (CMHS), a nationally representative epidemiological survey, which used computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), logistic regression models were used to examine community-based adult psychiatric disorders and associated risk factors. Finally, 2,317 individuals aged 60 years or over were included in the CMHS. The national prevalence of ACEs in older adults were estimated and logistic regression were used to analyse the association between ACEs and past-year psychiatric disorders. Results Prevalence of ACEs among older adults in China was 18.1%. The three most common types of ACEs were neglect (11.6%), domestic violence (9.2%), and parental loss (9.1%). This study proved the association between ACEs and common past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. ACEs increased the risk of past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. After adjustment for age, sex, marital status, employment status, education, rural or urban residence, region, and physical diseases, the association between ACEs and past-year psychiatric disorders were still significant. Conclusions ACEs are linked to an increased risk for past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. ACEs may have long-term effects on older adults’ mental well-being. Preventing ACEs may help reduce possible adverse health outcomes in later life.

Motor imagery has been commonly studied as a means of motor rehabilitation but, the individual differences limit its practical application. Visually evoked motor imagery has been widely highlighted by researchers because of its vivid stimulus. However, this modality is still not applicable to all persons. In this study, we studied the different performances of the visually evoked motor imagery between subjects and tried to explore the personality manifestation which can result in this performance. We found that conscientiousness and openness have negative connections with the performance of visually evoked motor imagery. To compare with spontaneous motor imagery, the visually evoked motor imagery reflects less personality difference between subjects with good and bad performances on motor imagery. This indicate that visually stimulus may increase the pervasive application of motor imagery. This study may provide benefits to predict the rehabilitation effect and to rapidly select the suitable motor rehabilitation methods.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder characterized by dopaminergic neuron death in the substantia nigra, leading to motor dysfunction. Autophagy dysregulation has been implicated in PD pathogenesis. This study explores the role of miR-214–3p in PD, focusing on its impact on autophagy and dopaminergic neuron viability. Using in vitro and in vivo models, we demonstrate that miR-214–3p inhibits autophagy and promotes dopaminergic neuron apoptosis. Behavioral assessments and molecular analyses reveal exacerbation of PD symptoms upon miR-214–3p overexpression. Furthermore, mechanistic investigations identify ATG3 as a target, shedding light on miR-214–3p's regulatory role in autophagy. These findings enhance our understanding of PD pathogenesis and propose miR-214–3p as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for modulating autophagy and neuronal survival in PD.

As homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) is a biomarker to predict the efficiency of PARP inhibitor treatment, this study developed a non‐exonic single‐nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)‐based targeted next‐generation sequencing panel and comprehensively examined it both on standard and clinical ovarian cancer tissues. The HRD scores calculated by the panel and whole‐genome sequencing were consistent, with the analysis by sequenza being the most reliable. The results on clinical samples revealed that the panel performed better in HRD analysis compared with the SNP microarray. There are several distinctions between this newly developed kit and reported HRD detection panels. First, the panel covers only 52 592 SNPs, which makes it capable of detecting genomic instability. Secondly, all the SNPs are non‐exonic; as a result, the panel can be used cooperatively with any exon panel. Thirdly, all the SNPs selected have a high minor allele frequency in Chinese people, making it a better choice for HRD detection in Chinese patients. In summary, this panel shows promise as a clinical application to guide PARP inhibitors or platinum drugs used in the treatment of ovarian and other cancers.

Abstract To investigate the potential mechanism of resveratrol in anti-fatigue by network pharmacology and molecular docking, and to investigate the anti-fatigue efficacy of resveratrol through in vitro animal experiments. Resveratrol action targets and fatigue-related targets were obtained using various databases. The anti-fatigue targets of resveratrol were obtained using the Venn diagram, uploaded to the String database, imported into Cytoscape 3.7.1, and constructed into a Protein-protein interaction network. The target genes were then subjected to Gene ontology and Kyoto encyclopedia of gene and genome enrichment analysis. Molecular docking verification was performed on the binding ability of the core target to resveratrol. Using swimming-trained mice as exercise models, exhaustive swimming time and fatigue-related biochemical parameters were used as indicators to investigate the effects of resveratrol on exercise endurance and energy metabolism. 104 anti-fatigue targets and 10 core target genes of resveratrol were obtained. KEGG analysis enrichment included AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, Human cytomegalovirus infection, and Pathways in cancer. Molecular docking showed that the core target genes TP53, PIK3R1, AKT1, PIK3CA, and MAPK1 had good binding activity to resveratrol. Autonomous sensory meridian response is believed as a perceptual phenomenon to specific sensory stimuli. To explore the underlying mechanism and emotional effect, the EEG under video and audio triggers of autonomous sensory meridian response was analyzed. The differential entropy and power spectral density by Burg method on $\delta $ , $\theta $ , $\alpha $ , $\beta $ , $\gamma $ and high $\gamma $ frequencies were employed as quantitative features. The results indicate that the modulation of autonomous sensory meridian response on brain activities is broadband. Video trigger owns better performance of autonomous sensory meridian response than other triggers. Moreover, the results also reveal that autonomous sensory meridian response has a close relationship with neuroticism and its three sub-dimensions, anxiety, self-consciousness and vulnerability, with the scores of self-rating depression scale, but without emotions, happiness, sadness, or fear. This suggests that the responders of autonomous sensory meridian response may have the tendencies of neuroticism and depressive disorder.

BackgroundPersistently increased workload and stress occurred in health professionals (HPs) during the past 3 years as the COVID-19 pandemic continued. The current study seeks to explore the prevalence of and correlators of HPs' burnout during different stages of the pandemic.MethodsThree repeated online studies were conducted in different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic: wave 1: after the first peak of the pandemic, wave 2: the early period of the zero-COVID policy, and wave 3: the second peak of the pandemic in China. Two dimensions of burnout, emotional exhaustion (EE) and declined personal accomplishment (DPA), were assessed using Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel (MBI-HSMP), a 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and a 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) to assess mental health conditions. An unconditional logistic regression model was employed to discern the correlators.ResultsThere was an overall prevalence of depression (34.9%), anxiety (22.5%), EE (44.6%), and DPA (36.5%) in the participants; the highest prevalence of EE and DPA was discovered in the first wave (47.4% and 36.5%, respectively), then the second wave (44.9% and 34.0%), and the third wave had the lowest prevalence of 42.3% and 32.2%. Depressive symptoms and anxiety were persistently correlated with a higher prevalence risk of both EE and DPA. Workplace violence led to a higher prevalence risk of EE (wave 1: OR = 1.37, 95% CI: 1.16–1.63), and women (wave 1: OR = 1.19, 95% CI: 1.00–1.42; wave 3: OR =1.20, 95% CI:1.01–1.44) and those living in a central area (wave 2: OR = 1.66, 95% CI: 1.20–2.31) or west area (wave 2: OR = 1.54, 95% CI: 1.26–1.87) also had a higher prevalence risk of EE. In contrast, those over 50 years of age (wave 1: OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.39–0.96; wave 3: OR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38–0.95) and who provided care to patients with COVID-19 (wave 2: OR = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.57–0.92) had a lower risk of EE. Working in the psychiatry section (wave 1: OR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.01–1.89) and being minorities (wave 2: OR = 1.28, 95% CI: 1.04–1.58) had a higher risk of DPA, while those over 50 years of age had a lower risk of DPA (wave 3: OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.36–0.88).ConclusionThis three-wave cross-sectional study revealed that the prevalence of burnout among health professionals was at a high level persistently during the different stages of the pandemic. The results suggest that functional impairment prevention resources and programs may be inadequate and, as such, continuous monitoring of these variables could provide evidence for developing optimal strategies for saving human resources in the coming post-pandemic era.

Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) is a species of cyanobacteria with high economic value; the species is commercially well known as Spirulina platensis, and A. platensis was used in this paper. Its high adaptability, high photosynthetic efficiency, and fast growth rate make it one of the few cyanobacteria that can be cultivated on a large scale. Therefore, using the selenium enrichment property of A. platensis to cultivate selenium-enriched A. platensis will not only enhance the physiological efficacy of A. platensis but also increase its economic value significantly. In this study, we investigated the effects of sodium selenite on the growth and photosynthetic performance of A. platensis selenium by setting different amounts and methods of sodium selenite addition, and we explored the optimal culture conditions of the best dosage and method of sodium selenite addition. The results showed that the experimental group treated with sodium selenite at 700 μmol/L had the fastest growth, and the contents of soluble protein, phycocyanin C, and chlorophyll a increased by approximately 67.9%, 1.44 times, and 38.8% compared to the control group, respectively. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activity increased by 1.88-fold and 65%, respectively, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were reduced by 62% compared to the control group. The results of the OJIP assay showed that the J and I points were significantly higher at the batch addition and treatment concentration of 700 μmol/L, with the rate of QA being reduced and the proportion of the slowly reduced PQ pool being increased. The values of the maximum light energy conversion efficiency (Fv/Fm) per unit of reaction center were higher in both sodium selenite treatment groups than in the control group, indicating that the light energy conversion efficiency of A. platensis was promoted under all concentration treatment conditions. The batch addition of sodium selenite at concentrations less than 700 μmol/L resulted in significantly higher ABS/RC values than the control, and they were far superior to the one-time addition method. The reason for this may have been that the batch addition of sodium selenite at low concentrations increased the light absorption capacity of the unit reaction center of PSII, resulting in a rise in captured light energy, a rise in the energy captured by the reaction center for electron transfer (ETo/RC), a decrease in the energy dissipated in the absorption of light energy by the reaction center (DIo/RC), and an increase in the photosynthetic performance index (PI abs).

Abstract Objective To evaluate the morphological asymmetry of pelvic rings existing in healthy individuals in terms of three‐dimensional (3D) geometric shapes. Methods This study was a retrospective self‐control study. CT images of healthy pelvises, scanned from Jan 2014 to Jan 2019, were taken from 159 subjects (88 males and 71 females) aged 20 to 59 years (39.1 ± 8.7 years). Digital pelvic ring models were reconstructed from CT images and then flipped over the corresponding sagittal planes to obtain their mirrored models. A 3D deviation analysis of a pelvic ring was conducted between the original model and its mirrored model via model registration and quantification of the geometric differences. Next, the pelvic rings were split to the left and right hipbones. The same flipping procedures as done by pelvic rings were performed for left hipbones to obtain their mirrored models. A 3D deviation analysis was also performed between the left and right hip bones. Quantitative variables representing deviation mainly included the average deviation (AD) and the maximum deviation (MD). MDs over 4 mm and 10 mm were deemed as critical levels for evaluating the severity of asymmetry as per Matta's scoring system. The quantitative assessments of the asymmetry covered pelvic rings, bilateral hip bones and the specific anatomic regions of a hip bone. Results 157 out of 159 pelvic rings (98.74%) had more than 4 mm of the MD and 27 (16.98%) of them exceeded 10 mm of the MD. Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is the most common subtype of T/NK-cell lymphoma in Asia and Latin America, but very rare in North American and Europe. Patient survival has improved significantly over the past two decades. However, standard treatment has not yet been established, although dozens of prospective trials have been conducted. To help understand how the treatment of ENKTCL has evolved in the past and what trends lie ahead, we have comprehensively reviewed the treatment of this aggressive malignancy, with a particular focus on neglected or unanswered issues, such as the optimal staging method, the best partner of asparaginase (Asp), the individualized administration of Asp, the preferred sequence of CT and RT and so on. Overall, the 5-year overall survival (OS) of patients with Ann Arbor stage I/II disease increased from < 50% in the early 20th century to > 80% in recent years, and the median OS of patients with Ann Arbor stage III/IV disease increased from < 1 year to more than 3 years. The improvement in patient survival is largely attributable to advances in radiation technology and the introduction of Asp and anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy into practice. Radiotherapy is essential for patients with early-stage disease, while Asp-based chemotherapy (CT) and PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors significantly improved the prognosis of patients with advanced-stage disease. ENKTCL management is trending toward simpler regimens, less toxicity, and higher efficacy. Novel drugs, such as manufactured T cells, monoclonal antibodies, and small molecule inhibitors, are being intensively investigated. Based on the fact that ENKTCL is highly resistant to cytotoxic drugs except Asp, and aggressive CT leads to higher toxicity rather than better outcomes, we recommend it is unnecessary to expend additional resources to compare different combinations of Asp with cytotoxic agents. Instead, more efforts should be made to optimize the use of Asp and immunotherapy to maximize efficacy and minimize toxicity, explore ways to overcome resistance to Asp and immunotherapy, identify novel treatment targets, and define subpopulations who may benefit more from specific treatments.

We aimed to explore the relationship between social capital (SC) and frailty, and the mediation role of depressive symptoms in this relationship. A cross-sectional study among 2,591 older adults aged ≥60 years old was conducted from September 2020 to May 2021. SC, depressive symptoms, and frailty were measured using the social capital scale, the 9-item patient health questionnaire, and the FRAIL scale, respectively. In this study, diploid, triploid, and tetraploid Crassostrea gigas samples were subjected to gas chromatography and ion mobility (GC-IMS) to identify and analyze volatile compounds and flavor fingerprints under conditions of high-temperature incubation. The GC-IMS technology identified a total of 54 volatile components in C. gigas. The contents of 1-octen-3-ol, butyl pentanoate, p-methyl anisole, and 2-methyl-2-hepten-6-one in male oysters were significantly higher than in females, while the contents of phenylacetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, 2-ethyl-3-methylpyrazine, 2-ethylfuran, and 2,4-hexadienal in female oysters were significantly higher than in males. The contents of non-3-en-2-one-M and 1-pentanol in diploids were significantly higher than in triploids and tetraploids, while the content of 2,4-hexadienal in tetraploids was significantly higher than in diploids and tetraploids. The contents of ethyl acetate, ethyl-2-butenoate, and butanal in tetraploids were significantly higher than those in diploids and triploids. The results of a principal components analysis showed that different samples were relatively independently clustered, allowing the ability to distinguish different oyster samples. The chemical fingerprints of volatile compounds of C. gigas with different ploidy and gender under high-temperature incubation were established, and the volatile substance contours of C. gigas were visualized. The results provide a reference for distinguishing the ploidy and gender of C. gigas under conditions of high-temperature incubation.

Matrine is a quinoline alkaloid extracted and separated from the dried root, fruit, and other parts of the plant Sophora flavescens using an organic solvent. Matrine exhibits a variety of biological activities and is widely used in pharmacy, agronomy, and other fields. Due to its low bioavailability, poor chemical stability, and toxicity to the central nervous system, a large number of researchers have searched for matrine derivatives with higher biological activity and safety by modifying its structure. In this review article, the research progress of matrine derivatives obtained using two methods (extraction from Sophora flavescens and structural modifications) from 2018 to 2022 in terms of pharmacological activity, mechanism of action, and structure–activity relationship are presented. The modification of matrine over the past five years has been mainly on the D-ring. Many new matrine alkaloids have been extracted from natural products, some of which have good pharmacological activity, which broadens the strategy for matrine structural modification in the future.

The effectiveness of the tyrosine kinase inhibitor ALK (TKI) for non-small cell lung cancer has been confirmed. However, resistance to ALK-TKIs seems inevitable. Mutations in the ALK kinase domain have been reported as an important mechanism of acquired resistance to ALK therapy. However, patients with de novo ALK kinase domain mutations and ALK rearrangements who were not treated with ALK inhibitors have rarely been reported. Here, we report a case of primary drug resistance to first- and second-generation ALK inhibitors in a NSCLC patient with ALK-rearrangement. The next-generation sequencing test of the pathological biopsy showed that the de novo ALK kinase domain mutation F1174L-cis-S1189C may be the cause of primary drug resistance.

PURPOSEWe aimed to compare the effects of misregistration (stair-step artifact) occurrence during coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) using third- and second-generation dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) scanners.METHODSCCTA was performed in consecutive patients with suspected coronary heart disease. Patients were randomly assigned to two groups and imaged using a third-generation (n=68; group A) or second-generation (n=63; group B) DSCT scanner. Heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), the number of acquisition steps required, and the anatomical cardiac length of each patient were recorded and compared between the two groups. Qualitative interpretation and analyses were scored with respect to subjective image quality and misregistration (stair-step artifact) by two interpreters. Cohen’s kappa was used to evaluate the consistency between the observers.RESULTSAll CCTA images (100%) on both DSCT scanners yielded satisfactory image quality, with a subjective image quality score of 4.21±0.17. The consistency between the two observers with respect to misregistration and subjective scores were good (κ= 0.91 and 0.92, respectively). Both the number of acquisition steps required and the scan length of each patient in group A differed significantly (p < 0.001) from those in group B; there were significantly fewer artifacts in group A than in group B (p < 0.001). Misregistration artifacts did not correlate with the HRs or HRVs between two required acquisition steps (p > 0.20).CONCLUSIONAs compared with second-generation DSCT, the reduced number of acquisition steps required and the shorter scan length in third-generation DSCT reduced the occurrence of misregistration artifacts in CCTA images.

BackgroundThe pandemic of COVID-19 has significantly increased the burden on healthcare workers and potentially affect their risk of workplace violence (WPV). This study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors of WPV among healthcare workers during the peaking and the remission of the COVID-19 pandemic in China.MethodsUsing the snowball method, a repeated online questionnaire survey was conducted among Chinese healthcare workers from March 27th to April 26th in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Data included healthcare workers' socio-demographic and occupational characteristics, psychological status, and workplace violence.ResultsA total of 3006 samples in 2020 and 3465 samples in 2021 were analyzed. In 2020, the prevalence of WPV and witnessing colleagues suffering from WPV among healthcare workers were 64.2% and 79.7% respectively. Compared with 2020, the prevalence decreased by 11.0% and 14.4% in 2021, respectively. Logistic regression showed that WPV in 2020 was influenced by males, long working experience, working in the psychiatric department, direct contact with COVID-19 patients, self-discovery of medical errors, moral injury, depression, and anxiety (minimum OR = 1.22, maximum OR = 2.82). While risk factors of WPV in 2021 included males, working in psychiatric departments, self-discovery of medical errors, moral injury, depression, and anxiety (minimum OR = 1.33, maximum OR = 3.32); and protective factors were holding a master's degree (OR = 0.78) and working in other departments (OR = 0.54).ConclusionThis study retains the common effects of WPV among healthcare workers, though after the baptism of the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevalence of WPV among healthcare workers decreased; however, part of the influencing factors changed. In addition, COVID-19 has seriously affected the mental health of healthcare workers, and the effect of mental health problems on WPV should also attract more attention.

Esophageal Squamous Cell carcinomas (ESCC) is a highly heterogeneous malignancy that is among the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. B cells play pivotal roles in the immune defense system and cancer progression and regression, yet the repertoire of tumor infiltrating B cells (TIBs) and its association with clinical outcome remains unexplored in ESCC. Here we collected bulk RNA-seq sequencing data from 119 ESCC tumors and matched adjacent normal samples to delineate the B cell repertoire. We found that ESCC is more heavily infiltrated by B cells and plasma cells compared to activated T cells. The immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region (IGHV) gene usage was remarkably biased and IGHV3-74 was under-represented in ESCC tumors. The TIBs showed a more oligoclonal profile along with widespread clonal expansion and IgG subclass switch events (CSRs). Survival analysis revealed several unexpected associations between tumor infiltrating B cells and prognosis. Higher levels of immunoglobulin expression (IGH), CD138 expression, IGH to MS4A1 ratio, CSR events and clone diversity are all associated with better survival. Notably, we found that the abundance of CD20-negative IgG2-producing plasma cells has a strong positive effect on overall survival with a hazard ratio (HR) of 0.40 (log-rank p: 0.002). Combing molecular subtyping, the IgG2-producing plasma cells could stratify high-risk patients more accurately with a HR of 0.253 (log-rank p: 0.0006). The direct link between protective B cell populations and ESCC prognosis provides biomarkers for high-risk patient selection and holds great promise for developing strategies for immunotherapy targeting B cells in ESCC patients.

With the in-depth application of 3D models in many fields, the display of models, especially the model display based on B / S architecture, has become an indispensable part of the application of 3D models. The development of 3D modeling technology has led to the emergence of a large number of complex three-dimensional models with more than one hundred thousand facets and hundred megabytes of file size. Coupled with the limit of B / S architecture by the server’s concurrency, network bandwidth, browser’s processing capabilities, and many other objective factors, how to achieve its real-time and high-realistic display on the web pages has become one of the hot spots research in the field of graphics, which has great research significance and challenge. In order to resolve the above problems, we propose a new model display method. The method pre-renders the model into a two-dimensional image by sampling the subdivide surface of the model’s circumscribed sphere and uses the view-dependent level-of-detail method to divide the pre-rendered image into different layers and tiles. Combined with the optimization, including adaptive and progressive network transmission, index-weighted user interaction prediction, and Hilbert-based image indexing, the method achieves a frame rate of more than 20 frames per second in the actual tests.

Most of the existing image style transfer algorithms transfer the whole image style as a whole. Style feature is a set of correlation matrix based on style image, namely Gram matrix. Each matrix is a global description of the style image. This kind of methods can perform well in the insensitive semantic scenes (such as the style transfer between landscape photos), but in the sensitive semantic scenes (such as the style transfer between portrait photos), the problem of semantic mismatch will be highlighted, such as transferring the background texture of the style image to the foreground of the target image. Although the existing research takes the manually annotated semantic image as an input of the algorithm, and then guides the style transfer based on the semantic information, and finally achieves good results in the style transfer between portraits. But there are still two problems: first, semantic images need to be manually annotated, which costs human resources. In practical applications, large-scale image style transfer is often needed. Second, the details of the synthesized image are fuzzy, and the definition is not enough. We propose an image style transfer algorithm based on semantic segmentation to resolve semantic mismatching in image style transfer. Our algorithm extracts the semantic information of style image and content image automatically through a semantic segmentation network and uses the semantic information to guide the style transfer. Our algorithm builds a semantic segmentation network based on mask R-CNN, introduces semantic information, and then makes style transfer on the patch level, realizes the style transfer between similar objects (consistent semantic information). Experiments on Celeba and Wikiart show that our method could automatically extract the semantic information of style image and content image. Compared with the state-of-art approaches in this field, our method can effectively avoid semantic mismatch in the process of image style transfer. That is, it can maintain semantic consistency in the process of style transfer.

Moving target detection in cluttered backgrounds is always considered a challenging problem for artificial visual systems, but it is an innate instinct of many animal species, especially the avian. It has been reported that spatio-temporal information accumulation computation may contribute to the high efficiency and sensitivity of avian tectal neurons in detecting moving targets. However, its functional roles for moving target detection are not clear. Here we established a novel computational model for detecting moving targets. The proposed model mainly consists of three layers: retina layer, superficial layers of optic tectum, and intermediate-deep layers of optic tectum; in the last of which motion information would be enhanced by the accumulation process. The validity and reliability of this model were tested on synthetic videos and natural scenes. Compared to EMD, without the process of information accumulation, this model satisfactorily reproduces the characteristics of tectal response. Furthermore, experimental results showed the proposed model has significant improvements over existing models (EMD, DSTMD, and STMD plus) on STNS and RIST datasets. These findings do not only contribute to the understanding of the complicated processing of visual motion in avians, but also further provide a potential solution for detecting moving targets against cluttered environments.

Recent studies using deep neural networks have shown remarkable success in style transfer, especially for artistic and photo‐realistic images. However, these methods cannot solve more sophisticated problems. The approaches using global statistics fail to capture small, intricate textures and maintain correct texture scales of the artworks, and the others based on local patches are defective on global effect. To address these issues, this study presents a unified model [global and local style network (GLStyleNet)] to achieve exquisite style transfer with higher quality. Specifically, a simple yet effective perceptual loss is proposed to consider the information of global semantic‐level structure, local patch‐level style, and global channel‐level effect at the same time. This could help transfer not just large‐scale, obvious style cues but also subtle, exquisite ones, and dramatically improve the quality of style transfer. Besides, the authors introduce a novel deep pyramid feature fusion module to provide a more flexible style expression and a more efficient transfer process. This could help retain both high‐frequency pixel information and low‐frequency construct information. They demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of their approach on numerous style transfer tasks, especially the Chinese ancient painting style transfer. Experimental results indicate that their unified approach improves image style transfer quality over previous state‐of‐the‐art methods.

Existing style transfer methods have achieved great success in artwork generation by transferring artistic styles onto everyday photographs while keeping their contents unchanged. Despite this success, these methods have one inherent limitation: they cannot produce newly created image contents, lacking creativity and flexibility. On the other hand, generative adversarial networks (GANs) can synthesise images with new content, whereas cannot specify the artistic style of these images. The authors consider combining style transfer with convolutional GANs to generate more creative and diverse artworks. Instead of simply concatenating these two networks: the first for synthesising new content and the second for transferring artistic styles, which is inefficient and inconvenient, they design an end‐to‐end network called ArtistGAN to perform these two operations at the same time and achieve visually better results. Moreover, to generate images of higher quality, they propose the bi‐discriminator GAN containing a pixel discriminator and a feature discriminator that constrain the generated image from pixel level and feature level, respectively. They conduct extensive experiments and comparisons to evaluate their methods quantitatively and qualitatively. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of their methods.

Birds have acute vision and many remarkable visual cognition abilities, due to their unique living environment. The underlying neural mechanisms have also attracted interests of researchers in neuroscience. Here, we firstly summarize the visual cognition abilities of birds, and make a comparison with mammals. Secondly, the underlying neural mechanisms are presented, including histological structure of avian brain and visual pathways, typical experimental results and conclusions in electrochemistry and electrophysiology. The latter mainly focuses on several higher brain areas related to visual cognition, including mesopallium ventrolaterale, entopallium, visual Wulst, and nidopallium caudolaterale. Finally, we make a conclusion and provide a suggestion about future studies on revealing the neural mechanisms of avian visual cognition. This review presents a detailed understanding of avian visual cognition and would be helpful in ornithology studies in the field of cognitive neuroscience.

Abstract Background Few studies have specifically addressed quality of life issues for elderly hospice patients. The purpose of this study is to explore various factors and service patterns of the quality of life of end-of-life care for the elderly. Methods We collect the data and make small-scale exploratory study via semi-structured individual interviews. Data were collected from the family of 2 elderly cancer patients receiving hospice services, and the data were analyzed qualitatively. Results After investigation, we found that elderly people in hospice care, regardless of age, are suffering from physical and psychological pain and do not want to spend the rest of their lives in the hospital, but want to die in their own homes. Conclusions Both hospitalization and in-home care can improve resource utilization, and the key is to find various factors affecting the quality of life. Improving the quality of life is what patients and their families need most.

Abstract Background Late sleep onset time (SOT) is a common social phenomenon in modern society, and it was associated with a higher risk of obesity. However, the literature gap exists about the SOT and cardiometabolic biomarkers which closely associated with obesity. The present study aimed to explore the association of SOT with cardiometabolic biomarkers in Chinese communities. Methods A cross-sectional study enrolled a total of 2418 participants was conducted in Ningxia province of China. The cardiometabolic biomarkers included triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein and fasting plasma glucose were measured quantitatively using the standard method. The SOT and sleep duration were acquired by a self-report questionnaire. The multiple mixed-effect linear regression model was employed to examine the association. Results Binary analysis found an inverse association of SOT with high-density lipoprotein (β = − 0.05, 95%CI: − 0.06, − 0.03), with 1 h delayed in SOT the high-density lipoprotein decreased 0.05 mmol/L. After controlling for demographic variables, health-related behaviors, and physical health covariates, late SOT was associated with a higher level of triglyceride (β = 0.12, 95%CI: 0.06, 0.18), a higher level of low-density lipoprotein (β = 0.06, 95% CI: 0.02, 0.09), and a lower level of high-density lipoprotein (β = − 0.05, 95% CI: − 0.06, − 0.03). when stratified by sleep duration (less than eight hours vs. eight and longer hours), a positive association between SOT and LDL (β = 0.08, 95% CI: 0.04, 0.12) was found among participants with sleep duration eight hours and longer. Conclusion Late sleep onset time with the negative effect on the cardiometabolic biomarkers, and individuals with late SOT coupled with longer sleep duration may take risk of a higher level of low-density lipoprotein which in turn lead to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Background: Studies have shown parental religious involvement was associated with better health behaviors of their children. However, the relationship between parental religiosity and child dietary behaviors remains unclear. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between parental religious involvement and the dietary behaviors of school-aged children in mainland, China. Methods: Participants were selected from a northwest province of China using a multi-stage sampling process from July 2017 to October 2017. The frequency of parental religious activities and the importance of religion in life, along with the dietary behaviors of children, were collected using a questionnaire. Dietary pattern analysis coupled with multivariable linear regression was employed to test the association between parental religious involvement and children's dietary behavior. Results: The regression model indicated no significant relationship between parental religious behaviors and children's dietary behaviors in the overall sample. However, the frequency of mother's religious attendance was inversely related to children's consumption of vegetables (β = −0.40, P < 0.05) in the Hui subsample (vs. Han) when stratifying analyses by ethnicity. Conclusion: These findings suggest among those of Hui ethnicity, parental religious involvement may impact children's dietary behavior in a way that may affect their future health habits.

The continuous development of urbanization has dramatically changed people’s living environment and lifestyle, accompanied by the increased prevalence of chronic diseases. However, there is little research on the effect of urbanization on gut microbiome in residents. Here we investigated the relation between living environment and gut microbiota in a homogenous population along an urban-rural gradient in Ningxia China. According to the degree of urbanization, the population is divided into four groups: mountainous rural (MR) represents non-urbanized areas, mountainous urban (MU) and plain rural (PR) represent preliminary urbanization, and plain urban (PU) is a representative of complete urbanization. Studies have found that with the deepening of urbanization, the prevalence of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, gallstones, and renal cysts, have gradually increased. The intestinal richness and diversity of the microbial community were significantly reduced in the PR and the PU groups compared with the MR and the MU groups. Based on linear discriminant analysis selection, the significantly enriched genera Faecalibacterium, Prevotella, and Pseudobutyrivibrio in the MR group gradually decreased in the MU, the PR, and the PU groups. Effect size results revealed that both residence and diet had an effect on intestinal microbiota. Our results suggested that the disparate patterns of gut microbiota composition were revealed at different levels of urbanization, providing an opportunity to understand the pathogenesis of chronic diseases and the contribution of the “rural microbiome” in potential protection against the occurrence of chronic diseases.

In order to determine the characteristics of phytoplankton community structure in Nanhai Lake in Baotou City and its relationship with environmental factors, water and phytoplankton samples were collected and composition and biomass were investigated at six sites in the spring, summer, and autumn of 2021. This article used correlation analysis and redundancy analysis (RDA) combined with the community turnover index (BC) to analyze the phytoplankton functional groups. The results showed that 7 phyla and 68 genera of phytoplankton were identified in the water body, of which Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, Cyanobacteria, Chrysophyta, Euglenophyta, Cryptophyta, and Pyrrophyta accounted for 34%, 32%, 16%, 6%, 4%, 4%, and 3%, respectively. The phytoplankton in the water body was classified into 23 functional groups, of which MP and D functional groups were the long−term dominant functional groups, indicating that the habitat is a turbid water body. The ecological state index (Q) value ranged from 1.94 to 3.13, with an average value of 2.74. The comprehensive nutritional index (TSIM(∑)) was between 49.32 and 52.11, with an average value of 51.72, indicating that Nanhai Lake was in a mesotrophic state. Correlation analysis and redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that multiple nutrients, transparency (SD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), water temperature (WT), and Chlorophyll a (Chl−a) were the main environmental factors affecting the biomass of dominant functional groups in the water body. The study showed the characteristics of the functional groups of algae in a precious urban lake in arid and semi−arid areas of China and their relationship with environmental factors (physical and chemical indicators, anions and cation ions, and heavy metal ions), and provided a scientific basis for its water quality evaluation.

Background Moral injury has been found to be prevalent among healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 public health crisis. Aims The present study examines the relationship between spirituality, moral injury, and mental health among physicians and nurses in mainland China during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method An online cross-sectional study was conducted involving 3006 physicians and nurses in mainland China, where the COVID-19 pandemic has caused high rates of hospital admission and death. The Moral Injury Symptoms Scale-Health Professional was administered, along with measures of mental health and spirituality. Hierarchical linear regression modelling was used to examine the mediating and moderating role of moral injury in the relationship between spirituality and mental health. Results Spirituality was positively correlated with moral injury (β = 2.41, P < 0.01), depressive symptoms (β = 0.74, P < 0.01) and anxiety symptoms (β = 0.65, P < 0.01) after controlling sociodemographic variables. Moral injury significantly mediated the relationship between spirituality and both depression and anxiety, explaining 60% (0.46/0.76) of the total association between spirituality and depression and 58% (0.38/0.65) of the association with anxiety. No moderating effect of moral injury was found on the spirituality–mental health relationship. Conclusions Although they were the findings of a cross-sectional study, these results suggest that concern over transgressing moral values during the pandemic may have been a driving factor for negative mental health symptoms among Chinese health professionals for whom spirituality was somewhat important. Future longitudinal studies are needed to determine the causal nature of these relationships.

A film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR), based on a polymer air cavity, is presented. The polymer reflective layer on the polymer air cavity can serve both as the reflective layer and the function layer for inducing the high-order mode resonance. With the aluminum nitride as the piezoelectric layer, the resonance frequency of the FBAR can reach 6.360 GHz, based on the finite element method. The product of the corresponding frequency and the quality factor, f × Q is more than 2 × 1013. This design model provides a good solution for the high-frequency filters and high-sensitivity sensor designs.

A high-frequency surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonator, based on sandwiched interdigital transducer (IDT), is presented. The resonator has the structure of diamond/AlN/IDT/AlN/diamond, with Si as the substrate. The results show that its phase velocity and electromechanical coupling coefficient are both significantly improved, compared with that of the traditional interdigital transduce-free surface structure. The M2 mode of the sandwiched structure can excite an operation frequency up to 6.15 GHz, with an electromechanical coupling coefficient of 5.53%, phase velocity of 12,470 m/s, and temperature coefficient of frequency of −6.3 ppm/°C. This structure provides a new ideal for the design of high-performance and high-frequency SAW devices.

Birds can rapidly and accurately detect moving objects for better survival in complex environments. This visual ability may be attributed to the response properties of neurons in the optic tectum. However, it is unknown how neurons in the optic tectum respond differently to moving objects compared to static ones. To address this question, neuronal activities were recorded from domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica) optic tectum, responsible for orienting to moving objects, and the responses to moving and flashed stimuli were compared. An encoding model based on the Generalized Linear Model (GLM) framework was established to explain the difference in neuronal responses. The experimental results showed that the first spike latency to moving stimuli was smaller than that to flashed ones and firing rate was higher. The model further implied the faster and stronger response to a moving target result from spatiotemporal integration process, corresponding to the spatially sequential activation of tectal neurons and the accumulation of information in time. This study provides direct electrophysiological evidence about the different tectal neuron responses to moving objects and flashed ones. The findings of this investigation increase our understanding of the motion detection mechanism of tectal neurons.

In this work, we propose a symmetry approach and design a convolutional neural network for mouse pose estimation under scale variation. The backbone adopts the UNet structure, uses the residual network to extract features, and adds the ASPP module into the appropriate residual units to expand the perceptual field, and uses the deep and shallow feature fusion to fuse and process the features at multiple scales to capture the various spatial relationships related to body parts to improve the recognition accuracy of the model. Finally, a set of prediction results based on heat map and coordinate offset is generated. We used our own built mouse dataset and obtained state-of-the-art results on the dataset.

Neurons responding sensitively to motions in several rather than all directions have been identified in many sensory systems. Although this directional preference has been demonstrated by previous studies to exist in the isthmi pars magnocellularis (Imc) of pigeon (Columba livia), which plays a key role in the midbrain saliency computing network, the dynamic response characteristics and the physiological basis underlying this phenomenon are unclear. Herein, dots moving in 16 directions and a biologically plausible computational model were used. We found that pigeon Imc’s significant responses for objects moving in preferred directions benefit the long response duration and high instantaneous firing rate. Furthermore, the receptive field structures predicted by a computational model, which captures the actual directional tuning curves, agree with the real data collected from population Imc units. These results suggested that directional preference in Imc may be internally prebuilt by elongating the vertical axis of the receptive field, making predators attack from the dorsal-ventral direction and conspecifics flying away in the ventral-dorsal direction, more salient for avians, which is of great ecological and physiological significance for survival.

BackgroundStudies have found that social capital (SC) is associated with the risk of cognitive decline; however, the mechanism explaining how SC leads to cognitive decline is unclear. The current study examines the mediation effect of sleep duration on the relationship between SC and cognitive decline in Chinese older adults.MethodsA cross-sectional study of 955 community-dwelling aged 60 or over was conducted. The mini-mental state examination (MMSE), self-report sleep duration questionnaire, and social capital scales were administered during the face-to-face survey. The Bootstrap methods PROCESS program is employed to test the mediation model.ResultsAfter controlling for covariates, both social cohesion and social interaction were positively correlated with the MMSE score (pConclusionsSocial capital negatively associated with the risk of cognitive decline in this Chinese population, and sleep duration may partly explain this relationship. It may be a suggestive clue to identify those at a higher risk of progressing to cognitive impairment. Further prospective study in need to confirm this finding due to the cross-sectional design.

Surround modulation has been abundantly studied in several mammalian brain areas, including the primary visual cortex, lateral geniculate nucleus, and superior colliculus (SC), but systematic analysis is lacking in the avian optic tectum (OT, homologous to mammal SC). Here, multi-units were recorded from pigeon (Columba livia) OT, and responses to different sizes of moving, flashed squares, and bars were compared. The statistical results showed that most tectal neurons presented suppressed responses to larger stimuli in both moving and flashed paradigms, and suppression induced by flashed squares was comparable with moving ones when the stimuli center crossed the near classical receptive field (CRF) center, which corresponded to the full surrounding condition. Correspondingly, the suppression grew weaker when the stimuli center moved across the CRF border, equivalent to partially surrounding conditions. Similarly, suppression induced by full surrounding flashed squares was more intense than by partially surrounding flashed bars. These results suggest that inhibitions performed on tectal neurons appear to be full surrounding rather than locally lateral. This study enriches the understanding of surround modulation properties of avian tectum neurons and provides possible hypotheses about the arrangement of inhibitions from other nuclei, both of which are important for clarifying the mechanism of target detection against clutter background performed by avians.

Lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer and despite therapeutic advances, mortality remains high. The long period of clinical latency associated with lung cancer provides an ideal window of opportunity to administer vaccines to at-risk individuals that can prevent tumor progression and initiate long-term anti-tumor immune surveillance. Here we describe a personalized vaccination regime that could be applied for both therapeutic and prophylactic prevention of lung cancer, based on the derivation of lung cancer cells from induced pluripotent stem cells. Stem cells from healthy mice were modified to express Cre-dependent KRASG12D and Trp53R172H prior to differentiation to lung progenitor cells. Subsequent viral delivery of Cre caused activation of exogenous driver mutations, resulting in transformation and development of lung cancer cells. iPSC-derived lung cancer cells were highly antigenically related to lung cancer cells induced in LSL-KRASG12D/+; Trp53R172H/+ transgenic mice and were antigenically unrelated to original pluripotent stem cells or pancreatic cancer cells derived using the same technological platform. For vaccination, induced lung cancer cells were infected with oncolytic Adenovirus or Vaccinia virus, to act as vaccine adjuvants, prior to delivery of vaccines sequentially to a murine inducible transgenic model of lung cancer. Application of this Virus-Infected, Reprogrammed Somatic cell-derived Tumor cell (VIReST) regime primed tumor-specific T cell responses that significantly prolonged survival in both subcutaneous post-vaccine challenge models and induced transgenic models of lung cancer, demonstrating that stem cell-derived prophylactic vaccines may be a feasible intervention for treatment or prevention of lung cancer development in at-risk individuals.

Psychological strain is associated with suicidal behavior; however, the way that psychological strain leads to suicidal behavior remains unclear. The current study examines the mediation effect of psychache on the relationship between psychological strain and suicidal behavior among Chinese Hui and Han medical students. A total of 1,696 enrolled medical students (974 Han and 722 Hui) were administered the Psychological Strain Scale (PSS), the Suicide Behavior Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R) scale, and the Psychache Scale. There were significant differences in the PSS between different ethnic groups. Correlation analysis showed that both psychological strain and psychache were positively correlated with suicidal behaviors, and the two predictive variables were also positively correlated. The mediation effect test procedure showed that the direct and indirect effects (mediator effect) of psychological strain on suicidal behaviors were significant. The findings indicate that psychological strain partially induced psychache in both two ethnicity groups, leading to suicidal behavior in Chinese medical college students.

ObjectiveTo assess the psychometric properties of the short form Community Attitudes toward Mentally Illness (SF-CAMI) scale among medical students and primary healthcare workers in China.MethodsOriginal English version CAMI was translated following a standard procedure. and then short-form CAMI developed through the multistage procedure. The psychometric properties were tested among two separate samples which contained 1,092 primary healthcare workers and 1,228 medical students. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency reliability and test–retest reliability. Exploratory factor and confirmatory factor analyses were performed to determine the structure and to assess the validity of the scale.ResultsThe Chinese version of SF-CAMI consists of 20 items and with three subscales: Benevolence, Fear and Exclusion, and Support and Tolerance. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated good fitting models for medical students and primary healthcare workers. The Cronbach α of total scale for both samples was good (0.82 for medical students and 0.85 for primary healthcare workers), and acceptable test–retest reliability was found (intraclass correlation coefficient is 0.62 for medical students and 0.60 for primary healthcare workers).ConclusionThe Chinese version of SF-CAMI performed good reliability and validity among both primary healthcare workers and medical students, provide more feasible and available tools for assessing the effect of mental health service programs in China.

Owing to the increased use of urban rail transit, the flow of passengers on metro platforms tends to increase sharply during peak periods. Monitoring passenger flow in such areas is important for security-related reasons. In this paper, in order to solve the problem of metro platform passenger flow detection, we propose a CNN (convolutional neural network)-based network called the MP (metro platform)-CNN to accurately count people on metro platforms. The proposed method is composed of three major components: a group of convolutional neural networks is used on the front end to extract image features, a multiscale feature extraction module is used to enhance multiscale features, and transposed convolution is used for upsampling to generate a high-quality density map. Currently, existing crowd-counting datasets do not adequately cover all of the challenging situations considered in this study. Therefore, we collected images from surveillance videos of a metro platform to form a dataset containing 627 images, with 9243 annotated heads. The results of the extensive experiments showed that our method performed well on the self-built dataset and the estimation error was minimum. Moreover, the proposed method could compete with other methods on four standard crowd-counting datasets.

Abstract Background Ecological migrants has a special background compared with other types of migrant. However, the mental health status of ecological migrants who were expected to benefit from a massive “ecological migration project” initiated by the Chinese government is unknown. This study aims to explore the influence of environmental change on individuals’ mental health and to improve current understanding of the mechanisms that mental disorders occurred. Methods The data were extracted from a cross-sectional study. Anxiety disorders, mood disorders and substance use disorders were assessed using the Chinese version WHO-CIDI. The prevalence of mental disorders was stratified by migration status into ecological migrant, local resident and original resident groups. Unconditional logistic regression models were used to calculate the risk of prevalence among these three groups. Results After controlling for gender, ethnicity, age, marriage, and education, the migrants had lower risk of mental disorders than original residents [OR = 0.70 (95 % CI: 0.57–0.86)], p

Studies have shown that traumatic experiences are positively associated with risk of suicidal behaviors, whereas religiosity has been found to be negatively associated with that risk. How exactly religiosity interacts with traumatic experiences in its relationship to suicidal behaviors remains unclear. The current study examined the moderating effects of religiosity on the relationship between traumatic experiences and suicidal behaviors in 5,301 college students in northwestern China. Results indicated a strong positive association between traumatic experiences and suicidal behaviors (β = .46, p < .01), and a weak inverse association between religiosity and suicidal behaviors (β = –.06, p < .01). However, a significant interaction emerged between religiosity and traumatic experiences in their effect on suicidal behaviors (β = –.23, p < .01). These findings suggest that religiosity may play a role in reducing the risk of traumatic experiences-induced suicidal behaviors among college students in a largely secular society.

Temperature evolution of the train brake disc during high-speed braking was investigated using in situ experiments, theoretical analysis, and finite element modeling. The experimental results show that the temperature distribution on the friction surface experienced the formation of a hot ring first, then expansion and duration of the hot ring. Alternative hot spot and cold zone were observed on the friction surface, which is attributed to the local contact in the friction couple and heterogeneous heat dissipation condition in the disc. The corresponding maximum temperature in the disc increased rapidly first, kept stable then, and decrease slowly in the end. The one-dimensional heat conduction equation was applied to predict the maximum temperature variation and was found to be in agreement with the experimental results. Furthermore, the maximum temperature evolution and the temperature distribution of the disc at the braking time of 45 s were simulated by the finite element method, which is satisfactory. In additional, the temperature variation caused the corresponding fluctuation of instantaneous frictional coefficient and thermal stress distribution in the disc, which results in the thermal damages.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most lethal cancers in China and existing therapies have been unable to significantly improve prognosis. Oncolytic adenoviruses (OAds) are novel promising anti-tumor drugs and have been evaluated in several cancers including ESCC. However, the antitumour efficacy of the first generation OAds (H101) as single agent is limited. Therefore, more effective OAds are needed. Our previous studies demonstrated that the novel oncolytic adenovirus Ad-TD-nsIL12 (human adenovirus type 5 with E1ACR2, E1B19K, E3gp19K-triple deletions)harboring human non-secretory IL-12 had significant anti-tumor effect, with no toxicity, in a Syrian hamster pancreatic cancer model. In this study, we evaluated the anti-tumor effect of Ad-TD-nsIL12 in human ESCC. The cytotoxicity of Ad-TD-nsIL12, H101 and cisplatin were investigated in two newly established patient-derived tumor cells (PDCs) and a panel of ESCC cell lines in vitro. A novel adenovirus-permissive, immune-deficient Syrian hamster model of PDCs subcutaneous xenograft was established for in vivo analysis of efficacy. The results showed that Ad-TD-nsIL12 was more cytotixic to and replicated more effectively in human ESCC cell lines than H101. Compared with cisplatin and H101, Ad-TD-nsIL12 could significantly inhibit tumor growth and tumor angiogenesis as well as enhance survival rate of animals with no side effects. These findings suggest that Ad-TD-nsIL12 has superior anti-tumor potency against human ESCC with a good safety profile.

Detecting moving objects in a video sequence is an important problem in many vision-based applications. In particular, detecting moving objects when the camera is moving is a difficult problem. In this study, we propose a symmetric method for detecting moving objects in the presence of a dynamic background. First, a background compensation method is used to detect the proposed region of motion. Next, in order to accurately locate the moving objects, we propose a convolutional neural network-based method called YOLOv3-SOD for detecting all objects in the image, which is lightweight and specifically designed for small objects. Finally, the moving objects are determined by fusing the results obtained by motion detection and object detection. Missed detections are recalled according to the temporal and spatial information in adjacent frames. A dataset is not currently available specifically for moving object detection and recognition, and thus, we have released the MDR105 dataset comprising three classes with 105 videos. Our experiments demonstrated that the proposed algorithm can accurately detect moving objects in various scenarios with good overall performance.
