Abstract

The advent of foundation models (FMs) as an emerging suite of AI techniques has struck a wave of opportunities in computational healthcare. The interactive nature of these models, guided by pre-training data and human instructions, has ignited a data-centric AI paradigm that emphasizes better data characterization, quality, and scale. In healthcare AI, obtaining and processing high-quality clinical data records has been a longstanding challenge, ranging from data quantity, annotation, patient privacy, and ethics. In this survey, we investigate a wide range of data-centric approaches in the FM era (from model pre-training to inference) towards improving the healthcare workflow. We discuss key perspectives in AI security, assessment, and alignment with human values. Finally, we offer a promising outlook of FM-based analytics to enhance the performance of patient outcome and clinical workflow in the evolving landscape of healthcare and medicine. Abstract

In this article, we will research the Recommender System's implementation about how it works and the algorithms used. We will explain the Recommender System's algorithms based on mathematical principles, and find feasible methods for improvements. The algorithms based on probability have its significance in Recommender System, we will describe how they help to increase the accuracy and speed of the algorithms. Both the weakness and the strength of two different mathematical distance used to describe the similarity will be detailed illustrated in this article.

34. LAC: A Novel Lightweight Asynchronous Controller With Optimized Phase Shift

Abstract

There is an increasing demand for low-power processors in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT) and neuromorphic chips, asynchronous circuits are gaining popularity due to their low power consumption and event-driven nature. However, due to the handshake mechanism, phase shifts exist among the local pulses generated by the handshake controllers, which limit the further reduction of power consumption of the asynchronous circuit. In this brief, we propose a novel lightweight asynchronous controller (LAC), which can be used for the control path of two-phase bundled-data asynchronous circuits. The LAC features a simple structure, low power consumption and small area, effectively reducing phase shifts between local pulses and making it suitable for wide-ranging applications. To verify the proposed controller, we designed an asynchronous RISC-V processor. The implementation results show that for the same performance, the asynchronous processor can reduce the average power consumption by 17.0% and 8.53% respectively compared to the synchronous one and the click-based asynchronous processor.

37. Heteroaggregation and sedimentation of natural goethite and artificial Fe3O4 nanoparticles with polystyrene nanoplastics in water.

Abstract

Iron oxide nanomaterials play important roles in biogeochemical processes. This study investigates the effects of representative natural carbonaceous materials (humic acid [HA] and extracellular polymeric substances [EPS]) and cations on the heteroaggregation and sedimentation of engineered and natural iron oxide nanomaterials with montmorillonite and sulfate- and amine-modified polystyrene (PS) nanoparticles (NPs) (S- and N-PS NPs, respectively) in water, assessing their environmental behavior and differences in colloidal stability parameters. In addition, a novel extended Derjaguin–Landau–Verwey–Overbeek theory (XDLVO) was developed to describe the mechanism of colloidal behavior that concurrently considers gravitational and magnetic attraction forces. In CaCl2 solution and most natural water samples, negatively charged S-PS NPs promoted heteroaggregation with goethite and iron oxide (Fe3O4) NPs more than positively charged N-PS NPs with increased nanoplastic particle concentration. In seawater, the introduction of S- and N-PS NPs increased the maximum net energy (barrier) (ΦMAX) of heteroaggregation and sedimentation with goethite and Fe3O4 NPs, facilitating dispersal and suspension of the system. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and molecular dynamics simulation results suggested that Ca2+ forms bridging interactions between Fe3O4 and S-PS NPs to promote aggregation, while competitive adsorption occurs between the N atoms of N-PS NPs and Ca2+ on the surface of Fe3O4 NPs. The study findings will help to improve the understanding of interfacial processes affecting ions at nanomaterial/water interfaces and assessments of the geochemical behavior and ecological risks of nanoplastics.
