Chemotherapy and immunotherapy have shown no significant outcome for unresectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Multi-drug combination therapy has become a consensus in clinical trials to explore how to arouse anti-tumor immunity and meanwhile overcome the poorly tumoricidal effect and the stroma barrier that greatly hinders drug penetration. To address this challenge, a comprehensive strategy is proposed to fully utilize both the ferroptotic vulnerability of PDAC to potently irritate anti-tumor immunity and the desmoplasia-associated focal adhesion kinase (FAK) to wholly improve the immunosuppressive microenvironment via sustained release of drugs in an injectable hydrogel for increasing drug penetration in tumor location and averting systematic toxicity. The injectable hydrogel ED-M@CS/MC is hybridized with micelles loaded with erastin that exclusively induces ferroptosis and a FAK inhibitor defactinib for inhibiting stroma formation, and achieves sustained release of the drugs for up to 12 days. With only a single intratumoral injection, the combination treatment with erastin and defactinib produces further anti-tumor performance both in xenograft and KrasG12D-engineered primary PDAC mice and synergistically promotes the infiltration of CD8+ cytotoxic T cells and the reduction of type II macrophages. Purpose. Fast kV-switching (FKS) and dual-layer flat-panel detector (DL-FPD) technologies have been actively studied as promising dual-energy spectral imaging solutions for FPD-based cone-beam computed tomography (CT). However, cone-beam CT (CBCT) spectral imaging is known to face challenges in obtaining accurate and robust material discrimination performance. That is because the energy separation by either FKS or DL-FPD, alone, is still limited, along with apparently unpaired signal levels in the effective low- and high-energy projections in real applications, not to mention the x-ray scatter in cone-beam scan which will make the material decomposition almost impossible if no correction is applied. To further improve CBCT spectral imaging capability, this work aims to promote a source-detector joint multi-energy spectral imaging solution which takes advantages of both FKS and DL-FPD, and to conduct a feasibility study on the first tabletop CBCT system with the joint spectral imaging capability developed. Methods. For CBCT, development of multi-energy spectral imaging can be jointly realized by using an x-ray source with a generator whose kilo-voltages can alternate in tens of Hertz (i.e. FKS), and a DL-FPD whose top- and bottom-layer projections corresponds to different effective energy levels. Thanks to the complimentary characteristics inherent in FKS and DL-FPD, the overall energy separation will be significantly better when compared with FKS or DL-FPD alone, and the x-ray photon detection efficiency will be also improved when compared with FKS alone. In this work, a noise performance analysis using the Cramér–Rao lower bound (CRLB) method is conducted. The CRLB for basis material after a projection-domain material decomposition is derived, followed by a set of numerical calculations of CRLBs, for the FKS, the DL-FPD and the joint solution, respectively. To compensate for the slightly angular mismatch between low- and high- projections in FKS, a dual-domain projection completion scheme is implemented. Afterwards material decomposition from the complete projection data is carried out by using the maximum-likelihood method, followed by reconstruction of basis material and virtual monochromatic images (VMI). In this work, the first FKS and DL-FPD jointly enabled multi-energy tabletop CBCT system, to the best of our knowledge, has been developed in our laboratory. To evaluate its spectral imaging performance, a set of physics experiments are conducted, where the multi-energy and head phantoms are scanned using the 80/105/130 kVp switching pairs and projection data are collected using a prototype DL-FPD, whose both top and bottom layer of panels are composed of 550 μ m of cesium iodine (CsI) scintillators with no intermediate metal filter in-between. Results. The numerical simulations show that the joint spectral imaging solution can lead to a significant improvement in energy separation and lower noise levels in most of material decomposition cases. The physics experiments confirmed the feasibility and superiority of the joint spectral imaging, whose CNRs in the selected regions of interest of the multi-energy phantom were boosted by an average improvement of 21.9%, 20.4% for water basis images and 32.8%, 62.8% for iodine images when compared with that of the FKS and DL-FPD, respectively. For the head phantom case, the joint spectral imaging can effectively reduce the streaking artifacts as well, and the standard deviation in the selected regions of interest are reduced by an average decrement of 19.5% and 8.1% for VMI when compared with that of the FKS and DL-FPD, respectively. A feasibility study of the joint spectral imaging solution for CBCT by utilizing both the FKS and DL-FPD was conducted, with the first tabletop CBCT system having such a capability being developed, which exhibits improved CNR and is more effective in avoiding streaking artifacts as expected. Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), a common pathogen with humans as the sole host, causes primary infection and undergoes a latent period in sensory ganglia. The recurrence of VZV is often accompanied by severe neuralgia in skin tissue, which has a serious impact on the life of patients. During the acute infection of VZV, there are few related studies on the pathophysiological mechanism of skin tissue. In this study, transcriptome sequencing data from the acute response period within 2 days of VZV antigen stimulation of the skin were used to explore a model of the trajectory of skin tissue changes during VZV infection. It was found that early VZV antigen stimulation caused activation of mainly natural immune-related signaling pathways, while in the late phase activation of mainly active immune-related signaling pathways. JAK-STAT, NFκB, and TNFα signaling pathways are gradually activated with the progression of infection, while Hypoxia is progressively inhibited. In addition, we found that dendritic cell-mediated immune responses play a dominant role in the lesion damage caused by VZV antigen stimulation of the skin. The design of optimized non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) is critical to the effective control of emergent outbreaks of infectious diseases such as SARS, A/H1N1 and COVID-19 and to ensure that numbers of hospitalized cases do not exceed the carrying capacity of medical resources. To address this issue, we formulated a classic SIR model to include a close contact tracing strategy and structured prevention and control interruptions (SPCIs). The impact of the timing of SPCIs on the maximum number of non-isolated infected individuals and on the duration of an infectious disease outside quarantined areas (i.e. implementing a dynamic zero-case policy) were analyzed numerically and theoretically. These analyses revealed that to minimize the maximum number of non-isolated infected individuals, the optimal time to initiate SPCIs is when they can control the peak value of a second rebound of the epidemic to be equal to the first peak value. More individuals may be infected at the peak of the second wave with a stronger intervention during SPCIs. The longer the duration of the intervention and the stronger the contact tracing intensity during SPCIs, the more effective they are in shortening the duration of an infectious disease outside quarantined areas. The dynamic evolution of the number of isolated and non-isolated individuals, including two peaks and long tail patterns, have been confirmed by various real data sets of multiple-wave COVID-19 epidemics in China. Since 2016, the Argo (Array for Real-Time Geostrophic Oceanography) ocean salinity data has exhibited significant drift, directly affecting the accurate quantification of the global steric sea level (SSL) rates. To further investigate how salinity drift affects the estimation of SSL rates in different depths and regions, we divide the 0–2000 m into three layers (0–300 m, 300–1000 m and 1000–2000 m) and select five open oceans (the South and North Pacific, the South and North Atlantic, and the Indian Ocean) for discussion. By comparing the SSL rates between the periods of 2005–2015 and 2005–2019, we can evaluate the impact of salinity drift. Taking the estimated results from the IPRC (provided by the International Pacific Research Center at the University of Hawaii) and BOA (provided by the Second Institute of Oceanography, China) data as examples, we find that the effect of salinity drift is the largest at the depth of 1000–2000 m, about 29% for IPRC data and about 18% for BOA data. Moreover, the South Atlantic is susceptible to the effects of salinity drift, with an approximately 13% impact for IPRC data and 21% for BOA data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Muscular fatty infiltration is a common issue after rotator cuff tears (RCTs), which impair shoulder function. Females suffer a higher prevalence and a more severe degree of muscular fatty infiltration after RCT when compared with males, with the underlying mechanisms remaining unclear. Fibro-adipogenic progenitors (FAPs) are the primary source of muscular fatty infiltration following RCT. Our findings disclose that gender-specific disparities in muscular fatty infiltration are linked to mTOR/ULK1-mediated autophagy of FAPs. Decreased autophagic activity contributes to adipogenic differentiation in female FAPs after RCT. Furthermore, metformin could enhance mTOR/ULK1-mediated autophagic processes of FAPs, thereby alleviating fatty infiltration and improving shoulder functionality after RCT. Together, our study reveals that gender differences in muscular fatty infiltration arise from distinct autophagic activities. Metformin could be a promising noninvasive intervention to ameliorate muscular fatty infiltration of RCT. Land ecosystems are important sources and sinks of atmospheric components. In turn, air pollutants affect the exchange rates of carbon and water fluxes between ecosystems and the atmosphere. However, these biogeochemical processes are usually not well presented in Earth system models, limiting the explorations of interactions between land ecosystems and air pollutants from regional to global scales. Here, we develop and validate the interactive Model for Air Pollution and Land Ecosystems (iMAPLE) by upgrading the Yale Interactive Terrestrial Biosphere Model with process-based water cycles, fire emissions, wetland methane (CH4) emissions, and trait-based ozone (O3) damage. Within iMAPLE, soil moisture and temperature are dynamically calculated based on the water and energy balance in soil layers. Fire emissions are dependent on dryness, lightning, population, and fuel load. Wetland CH4 is produced but consumed through oxidation, ebullition, diffusion, and plant-mediated transport. The trait-based scheme unifies O3 sensitivity of different plant functional types (PFTs) with the leaf mass per area. Validations show correlation coefficients (R) of 0.59–0.86 for gross primary productivity (GPP) and 0.57–0.84 for evapotranspiration (ET) across the six PFTs at 201 flux tower sites and yield an average R of 0.68 for CH4 emissions at 44 sites. Simulated soil moisture and temperature match reanalysis data with high R above 0.86 and low normalized mean biases (NMBs) within 7 %, leading to reasonable simulations of global GPP (R=0.92 , NMB=1.3 %) and ET (R=0.93 , NMB=-10.4 %) against satellite-based observations for 2001–2013. The model predicts an annual global area burned of 507.1 Mha, close to the observations of 475.4 Mha with a spatial R of 0.66 for 1997–2016. The wetland CH4 emissions are estimated to be 153.45 Tg[CH4]yr-1 during 2000–2014, close to the multi-model mean of 148 Tg[CH4]yr-1. The model also shows reasonable responses of GPP and ET to the changes in diffuse radiation and yields mean O3 damage of 2.9 % to global GPP. iMAPLE provides an advanced tool for studying the interactions between land ecosystems and air pollutants. The study focused on how different moisture levels (5%–11%) and powder binders affected the bulk and strength characteristics of three iron ore blends. Increasing liquid content initially decreased and then increased the bulk density of all blends, and the shear strength of Blend-A and Blend-B increased up to 9% liquid content and then decreased at 11%, while Blend-C had a higher shear strength. In Blend-A, the cohesion varies between 0.64 and 5.49 kPa, while the internal frictional angle varies between 39.05° to 46.75°. For Blend-B, the cohesion ranges from 1.03 to 4.05 kPa, and the internal frictional angle ranges from 45.00° to 47.90°. Furthermore, Blend-C has cohesion ranging from 2.71 to 3.97 kPa and internal frictional angle ranging from 45.00° to 50.07°. Blend-A was considered a base blend using three powders, and the impact of adding these powders was assessed using Blend-A. HL maintained the cohesion at 4.50 kPa, and the internal frictional angle of Blend-A was significantly increased by 49.62° in the presence of HL. QL powder maintained cohesion values (1.47 kPa) and high internal frictional angle values (51°). Unraveling the structure-activity relationship of CeO2 catalysts in the low-temperature combustion is beneficial to the clean incineration of polymer wastes. Herein, the physicochemical properties of CeO2 catalysts were tailored by adjusting the calcination temperature at 250–750 °C. According to the systematic characterization results, a decrease in the calcination temperature reduced the crystalline size and increased the surface area of CeO2 catalysts, accompanied by the improvement of surface Ce3+ and oxygen vacancies and the enhancement of the oxygen activation. Simultaneously, CeO2 catalysts prepared at low calcination temperature significantly enhanced polymer wastes (LDPE, HDPE, PS and PP) combustion at 250 °C, promoting CO and CO2 formation and the heat release. It was concluded that the decreased crystalline size, increased surface area, and enhanced oxygen activation promoted the formation and accessibility of active oxygen species on CeO2 catalysts, which was crucial to the low-temperature combustion of polymer wastes. Precise medical image segmentation of regions of interest (ROIs) is crucial for accurate disease diagnosis and progression assessment. However, acquiring high-quality annotated data at the pixel level poses a significant challenge due to the resource-intensive nature of this process. This scarcity of high-quality annotated data results in few-shot scenarios, which are highly prevalent in clinical applications. To address this obstacle, this paper introduces Agent-Guided SAM (AGSAM), an innovative approach that transforms the Segment Anything Model (SAM) into a fully automated segmentation method by automating prompt generation. Capitalizing on the pre-trained feature extraction and decoding capabilities of SAM-Med2D, AGSAM circumvents the need for manual prompt engineering, ensuring adaptability across diverse segmentation methods. Furthermore, the proposed feature augmentation convolution module (FACM) enhances model accuracy by promoting stable feature representations. Experimental evaluations demonstrate AGSAM's consistent superiority over other methods across various metrics. The extraction of effective classification features from high-dimensional hyperspectral images, impeded by the scarcity of labeled samples and uneven sample distribution, represents a formidable challenge within hyperspectral image classification. Traditional few-shot learning methods confront the dual dilemma of limited annotated samples and the necessity for deeper, more effective features from complex hyperspectral data, often resulting in suboptimal outcomes. The prohibitive cost of sample annotation further exacerbates the challenge, making it difficult to rely on a scant number of annotated samples for effective feature extraction. Prevailing high-accuracy algorithms require abundant annotated samples and falter in deriving deep, discriminative features from limited data, compromising classification performance for complex substances. This paper advocates for an integration of advanced spectral–spatial feature extraction with meta-transfer learning to address the classification of hyperspectral signals amidst insufficient labeled samples. Initially trained on a source domain dataset with ample labels, the model undergoes transference to a target domain with minimal samples, utilizing dense connection blocks and tree-dimensional convolutional residual connections to enhance feature extraction and maximize spatial and spectral information retrieval. This approach, validated on three diverse hyperspectral datasets—IP, UP, and Salinas—significantly surpasses existing classification algorithms and small-sample techniques in accuracy, demonstrating its applicability to high-dimensional signal classification under label constraints. The degradation of tilmicosin (TLM), a semi-synthetic 16-membered macrolide antibiotic, has been receiving increasing attention. Conventionally, there are three tilmicosin degradation methods, and among them microbial degradation is considered the best due to its high efficiency, eco-friendliness, and low cost. Coincidently, we found a new strain, Glutamicibacter nicotianae sp. AT6, capable of degrading high-concentration TLM at 100 mg/L with a 97% removal efficiency. The role of tryptone was as well investigated, and the results revealed that the loading of tryptone had a significant influence on TLM removals. The toxicity assessment indicated that strain AT6 could efficiently convert TLM into less-toxic substances. The utilization of calcined coal gangue (CCG) and limestone for the preparation of blended cement is an efficient approach to address the issue of coal gangue disposal. However, the compressive strength development of blended cement is slow, particularly at high substitution levels of CCG. Therefore, this study aimed to promote the hydration and mechanical properties of the calcined coal gangue–limestone blended cements by increasing the curing temperature. In this study, the samples were cured at two different temperatures, namely 20 and 40 °C. The four groups of samples contained 15 wt.%, 30 wt.%, 45 wt.% and 60 wt.% cement substitutions using CCG and limestone (2:1 mass ratio). The compressive strength, hydration and microstructure were investigated at the ages of 1 to 28 d. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetry (TG) were used to study the hydration behavior of samples. Mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to determine the microstructure of the samples. The results indicate that an increase in curing temperature significantly promotes the compressive strength of the calcined coal gangue–limestone blended cements from 1 to 28 d. The microstructural analysis indicates that increasing the curing temperature not only promotes cement hydration but also facilitates the reaction of CCG, which precipitated more hydrates such as C-A-S-H gel, Hc and Mc. These hydrates are conducive to refining the pore structures and densifying the microstructure, which sufficiently explains the enhanced compressive strength of the calcined coal gangue–limestone blended cements. Observational studies have found a potential bidirectional positive association between multiple sclerosis and psoriasis, but these studies are susceptible to confounding factors. We examined the directionality of causation using Mendelian randomization and estimated the genetic correlation using the linkage disequilibrium score. We performed Mendelian randomization analysis using large-scale genome-wide association studies datasets from the International Multiple Sclerosis Genetics Consortium (IMSGC, 115,803 individuals of European ancestry) and FinnGen (252,323 individuals of European ancestry). We selected several Mendelian randomization methods including causal analysis using summary effect (CAUSE), inverse variance-weighted (IVW), and pleiotropy-robust methods. According to CAUSE and IVW the genetic liability to MS reduces the risk of psoriasis (CAUSE odds ratio [OR] 0.93, p = 0.045; IVW OR 0.93, p = 2.51 × 10–20), and vice versa (CAUSE OR 0.72, p = 0.001; IVW OR 0.71, p = 4.80 × 10–26). Pleiotropy-robust methods show the same results, with all p-values < 0.05. The linkage disequilibrium score showed no genetic correlation between psoriasis and MS (rg = − 0.071, p = 0.2852). Background: Cone‐beam CT (CBCT) has been extensively employed in industrial and medical applications, such as image‐guided radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging, with a growing demand for quantitative imaging using CBCT. However, conventional CBCT can be easily compromised by scatter and beam hardening artifacts, and the entanglement of scatter and spectral effects introduces additional complexity. Purpose: The intertwined scatter and spectral effects within CBCT pose significant challenges to the quantitative performance of spectral imaging. In this work, we present the first attempt to develop a stationary spectral modulator with flying focal spot (SMFFS) technology as a promising, low‐cost approach to accurately solving the x‐ray scattering problem and physically enabling spectral imaging in a unified framework, and with no significant misalignment in data sampling of spectral projections. Methods: To deal with the intertwined scatter‐spectral challenge, we propose a novel scatter‐decoupled material decomposition (SDMD) method for SMFFS, which consists of four steps in total, including (1) spatial resolution‐preserved and noise‐suppressed multi‐energy "residual" projection generation free from scatter, based on a hypothesis of scatter similarity; (2) first‐pass material decomposition from the generated multi‐energy residual projections in non‐penumbra regions, with a structure similarity constraint to overcome the increased noise and penumbra effect; (3) scatter estimation for complete data; and (4) second‐pass material decomposition for complete data by using a multi‐material spectral correction method. Monte Carlo simulations of a pure‐water cylinder phantom with different focal spot deflections are conducted to validate the scatter similarity hypothesis. Both numerical simulations using a clinical abdominal CT dataset, and physics experiments on a tabletop CBCT system using a Gammex multi‐energy CT phantom and an anthropomorphic chest phantom, are carried out to demonstrate the feasibility of CBCT spectral imaging with SMFFS and our proposed SDMD method. Results: Monte Carlo simulations show that focal spot deflections within a range of 2 mm share quite similar scatter distributions overall. Numerical simulations demonstrate that SMFFS with SDMD method can achieve better material decomposition and CT number accuracy with fewer artifacts. In physics experiments, for the Gammex phantom, the average error of the mean values (ERMSEROI$E^{\text{ROI}}_{\text{RMSE}}$) in selected regions of interest (ROIs) of virtual monochromatic image (VMI) at 70 keV is 8 HU in SMFFS cone‐beam (CB) scan, and 19 and 210 HU in sequential 80/120 kVp (dual kVp, DKV) CB scan with and without scatter correction, respectively. For the chest phantom, the ERMSEROI$E^{\text{ROI}}_{\text{RMSE}}$ in selected ROIs of VMIs is 12 HU for SMFFS CB scan, and 15 and 438 HU for sequential 80/140 kVp CB scan with and without scatter correction, respectively. Also, the non‐uniformity among selected regions of the chest phantom is 14 HU for SMFFS CB scan, and 59 and 184 HU for the DKV CB scan with and without a traditional scatter correction method, respectively. Conclusions: We propose a SDMD method for CBCT with SMFFS. Our preliminary results show that SMFFS can enable spectral imaging with simultaneous scatter correction for CBCT and effectively improve its quantitative imaging performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Currently, the cause of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is unknown, and the effectiveness of current drug treatments is unsatisfactory. In March 2019, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved risankizumab, a humanized immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody targeting the p19 subunit of interleukin (IL)-23, for the treatment of PsA in adults. This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis of double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trials to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of risankizumab in moderate-to-severe PsA. Methods: We conducted a thorough search of relevant databases from the establishment of the databases to October 1, 2023. We conducted a meta-analysis using Stata 12.0 and utilized I2 and Egger tests to assess heterogeneity and publication bias among the studies. Bias assessment was performed using the risk bias map and bias risk summary diagram generated by Revman5.4 software. The review protocols were registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023451894) and adhered to the preferred reporting item of system evaluation (PRISMA) guideline. Results: Six randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 5038 patients with PsA treated with either risankizumab or placebo were included in the analysis. At 24 weeks, the risankizumab group demonstrated a significantly higher American College of Rheumatology-20 (ACR20) response rate compared to the placebo group (RR 1.760, 95% CI 1.568–1.977, P < 0.001). Additionally, the risankizumab group showed a significantly higher Minimal Disease Activity (MDA) response rate compared to the placebo group (RR 1.827, 95% CI 1.048–3.184, P < 0.05). The risankizumab group also exhibited improvement in Short Form 36 Questionnaire (SF-36) score (SMD 0.51, 95% CI 0.33–0.69, P < 0.001), with significantly lower Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (HAQ-DI) score (SMD − 0.27, 95% CI − 0.37 to − 0.17, P < 0.001) and higher Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) score (SMD 0.27, 95% CI 0.20–0.35, P < 0.001) compared to the placebo group. Moreover, the risankizumab group had a significantly lower Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score (SMD − 6.12, 95% CI − 10.02 to 2.23, P < 0.001). A study by Mease et al. indicated that patients receiving risankizumab generally demonstrated numerical improvements in the Leeds Enthesitis Index (LEI), although the small sample size limits the evidence. Further research is necessary to provide evidence-based guidelines. There were no significant differences in the incidence of serious adverse events (SAE) and serious treatment-emergent adverse events (STEAE) between the risankizumab and placebo groups (RR 0.76, 95% CI 0.45–1.28, P = 0.31; RR 0.99, 95% CI 0.49–1.99, P = 0.97, respectively), and the overall incidence of adverse events (AE) was not comparable (RR 1.10, 95% CI 0.63–1.94, P = 0.73). Conclusion: Risankizumab showed superior efficacy across multiple outcome measures compared to placebo, with no significant increase in adverse events. Our findings endorse risankizumab as an excellent treatment option for PsA, offering valuable insights for clinicians and patients when choosing appropriate therapeutic interventions. Stick–slip is a negative phenomenon caused by friction in servo feed systems, which is particularly prominent in low-speed and heavy-load conditions. At present, most research on the critical Stick–slip velocity ignores higher-order terms of the equivalent damping ratio; the calculation accuracy is greatly reduced when the system has a large equivalent damping ratio. To solve it, firstly, an improved Stribeck model based on the least squares genetic algorithm is proposed for friction identification; meanwhile, the identification of shape parameters of the traditional Stribeck model is extended instead of empirical values. Then, an improved method of the critical Stick–slip velocity based on the dynamic model is constructed, and the influence of the higher-order term of the equivalent damping ratio on the critical velocity identification accuracy is analyzed. Finally, this method is verified by the computerized numerical control end-face cylindrical grinder with a hard guideway. The friction force identification error of the proposed method is reduced by 10% compared with the traditional method, and the error of the critical Stick–slip velocity by retaining the higher-order term is reduced by 37% compared with the critical Stick–slip velocity by ignoring the higher-order term. The energy consumption from the building sector accounts for more than 21% of the total in China, where the energy-use intensity of public buildings could reach 3 times that of residential buildings. Energy efficiency improvement (EEI) is considered to be one of the most rapid and cost-effective means for the building sector to achieve carbon neutrality. The Chinese government has carried out a series of policy tool exploration to promote the energy efficiency improvement efforts by public building owners since over a decade ago, but encountered various problems and obstacles. This paper investigated and compared the current status challenges, and problems in the implementation of EEI policy tools in China and developed countries through literature review, field investigations and interviews with experts and stakeholders, and finally also put forward some possible coping strategies for Chinese government. Results indicated that energy grading and labeling, energy benchmarking, carbon-emission trading and energy-consumption quota management were the main 4 EEI policy tools designed based on measured energy consumption data, where the first 3 ones had been widely used over the developed countries but the last one was unique to China. Difficulty in large-scale collection of building energy-consumption data, lack of scientific methods on building energy-use level evaluation, limited data application and feedback, undesirable association between stakeholders, etc., were the main obstacles for achieving the long-term effectiveness of the EEI policy tools. Cooperating with energy supply enterprises to collect data, establishing an effective energy grading system and a closed loop of policy implementation, exploring a new model of building carbon-emission trading and a differential pricing mechanism, combined with innovative financial supports, might be the solutions. The main contribution of this study is that a comprehensive investigation and analysis on the current development status, obstacles, and possible solutions of the public building EEI policy tools in China was carried out, which is expected to provide a reference for the government of China and even the world. In light of the potential deviation in damage and failure modes of reinforced concrete components during a fire compared to their design expectations at room temperature, this study aims to comprehensively investigate the failure modes of RC beams under various thermal-mechanical loadings. The experimental program encompasses a range of scenarios such as constant load followed by heating, heating followed by load, single-sided and three-sided fire with a constant load, among others. Large-scale fire tests were conducted on stirrupless RC beams subjected to four-point bending, and the progression of damage was meticulously monitored to evaluate the influence of high temperature on the failure modes of the beams. The findings of the study indicate that beams initially designed for bending failure at room temperature may exhibit either bending failure or shear failure under high-temperature conditions. Additionally, beams originally designed with sufficient shear strength but weaker bending capacity at room temperature may demonstrate inadequate behavior when exposed to elevated temperatures. Consequently, it is highly recommended to employ refined modeling and analysis techniques in order to comprehensively assess the response of RC members, rather than relying solely on predictions based on room temperature behavior. This experimental investigation significantly contributes to our understanding of the bending-shear damage mechanism and failure modes of RC beams in fire, providing a crucial foundation for advancing behavior simulations and performance predictions of RC members or structures under fire conditions. Analyzing historical and reanalysis datasets for wind energy climatic characteristics offers crucial insights for wind farms and short-term electricity generation forecasting. However, large-scale wind farms in Chinese deserts, the Gobi, and barren areas often lack sufficient wind measurement data, leading to challenges in assessing long-term power generation revenue and introducing uncertainty. This study focuses on the Tengger Desert as the study area, processes the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) data, and analyzes and compares wind energy's future characteristics utilizing a developed deep learning (DL) downscaling algorithm. The findings indicate that (1) the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) downscaling model, with the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) numerical simulation results as the targets, exhibits spatial distribution consistency with WRF simulation results in the experimental area. (2) Through testing and validation with three practical wind measurements, the annual average wind speed error is below 4%. (3) In the mid-term future (~2050), the average wind speed in the experimental area remains stable with a multi-year average of approximately 7.00 m·s−1. Graph operations play a significant role in constructing new and valuable graphs and capturing intermolecular forces between atoms and bonds of a molecule. In mathematical chemistry and chemical graph theory, a topological invariant is a numeric value extracted from the molecular graph of a chemical compound using a mathematical formula involving vertex degrees, distance, spectrum, and their combination. An intriguing problem in chemical graph theory is figuring out the lower and the upper bound on pertinent topological indices among a particular family of graphs. The first Gourava index for a graph Γ is denoted and defined as GO1(Γ) =∑xy∈E(Γ)[픡Γ(x) + 픡Γ(y) + 픡Γ(x)픡Γ(y)]. Recently, Kulli studied and derived formulas of the first Gourava index for four graph operations. We proved with the help of counter-examples that the results provided by Kulli produce inaccurate values when compared with exact values. A cascaded relativistic magnetron array with symmetric feeder structure was first proposed as a multi-port phase-coherent high-power microwave source, which is intrinsically equipped with high structural symmetry. Two symmetrically positioned slow-wave structures surround the feeder structure, which reduces axial electron drifting in each resonant system and ensures the phase-locking process. In this paper, a theory of structure-provided coupling coefficient and oscillator-required coupling coefficient is proposed as the phase-locking prerequisites. The method is evaluated by adopting two A6-type resonant systems. The symmetrically driven cascaded relativistic magnetron array employs a typical π-mode with an anode voltage of 450 kV and an axial magnetic field of 0.47 T. The phase-locked state was achieved in 17 ns with a jitter less than 5 deg. The total output power exceeds 2.3 GW at a frequency of 2.15 GHz, and the power flow in each output port exceeds 350 MW. The transversely opposed driven scheme can be combined with other phase-locking patterns for additional uses, and further optimization of resonant system could be applied for enhancing device performance. Trajectory ensemble receptor models (TERMs) were widely used to determine the likely source locations and apportionment of air pollutants. This paper describes the development and applications of the Trajectory-ensemble Potential Source Apportionment Web application (TraPSA-Web), a comprehensive toolkit for likely atmospheric pollutant source location apportionments using TERMs and back trajectories generated with the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model. The TERMs integrated within the TraPSA-web include Concentration Field Analysis (CFA), Concentration Weighted Trajectory (CWT), single-site and multiple-site Potential Source Contribution Function (PSCF), and Simplified Quantitative Transport Bias Analysis (SQBA). TraPSA-Web is designed as a web application with a user-friendly modern graphical user interface (GUI), which largely enhances the accessibility to the users. TraPSA-Web will provide the air quality research community with a sophisticated toolkit for (1) easy management of the research project and datasets, (2) efficient automatization for HYSPLIT configurations, calculations, and result aggregations, (3) flexible configurations for the research scenarios and TERM parameters, and (4) interactive visualizations for the pollutant pattern analysis and TERM result mapping. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), which are representative of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, have attracted tremendous attention over the last two decades. TMDCs are regarded as potential candidates in modern nano- and optoelectronic applications due to their unique crystal structures and outstanding electronic and optoelectronic properties. For practical use, 2D semiconductors need to be fabricated with diverse morphologies for integration into electronic devices and to perform different functionalities. Controlled patterning synthesis with programmable geometries is therefore highly desired. We review state-of-the-art strategies for the patterned growth of atomic layer TMDCs and their heterostructures, including additive manufacturing and subtractive manufacturing for patterning single TMDC materials and the introduction of other low-dimensional nanomaterials as growth templates or hetero-atoms for element conversion in patterning TMDC heterostructures. The optoelectronic and electronic applications of the as-grown monolayer TMDC patterns are introduced. Spectral clustering has become a prevalent option for data clustering as it performs well on non-convex spatial datasets with sophisticated structures. The spectral clustering effects depend on the construction of the similarity graph matrix. In this paper, in order to further enhance the clustering performance, we propose a novel similarity measure function based on neighbor relations. The proposed method is called SC-NR. It uses the Gaussian kernel function to measure the similarity between two objects. Since Euclidean distance cannot fully reflect the relation between data, this method adds a weight related to the order of nearest neighbors to the distance between two points. The similarity is better expressed by weighted-Euclidean distance. In experiments, we compared the proposed method with the previous works via the external indexes, that is, clustering accuracy (ACC), normalized mutual information (NMI), and F-measure. The comparison of indexes with state-of-the-art methods demonstrates the superiority of our algorithm. The experiment includes six synthetic datasets and twelve real-world datasets. [Display omitted] Heterostructured nanomaterials tend to have a high proportion of oxygen vacancies (V O) due to the presence of heterogeneous interfaces. Herein, a new kind of heterostructured MoO 3 @CoWO 4 nanobelts was successfully evaluated as fascinating cathode material. SEM and TEM analysis indicated that the MoO 3 nanobelts were fully blanketed with CoWO 4 nanodots. The generation of Vo species was confirmed by XPS and EPR data. By profiting both synergistic and Vo generation effects, MoO 3 @CoWO 4 electrode displayed an excellent capacitance of 246 mAh·g−1 (1966 F·g-1at 0.5 A·g−1) with high-rate capability of 174 mAh·g−1 (1394 F·g−1 at 30 A·g−1) as well as superb stability of 94 % (over 15,000 cycles). Notably, all-solid-state device delivered a good energy value of 63.1 Wh·kg−1 at 375 W·kg−1. Interestingly, the supercapacitor device showed super-low self-discharge comportment of only 12.1 % during 24 h. The COVID-19 crisis has created instability in nurses' workplace well-being (WWB) and work–family relationships. Exploring effective leadership tailored to the needs in a special context is significant to address these issues. Therefore, we examined how the interaction of self-sacrificial leadership (SSL) and self-leadership (SL)—explaining in the integration of conservation of resources and self-determination theories—related to thriving at work (TAW), WWB, and work–family conflict (WFC). A multi-wave questionnaire was distributed to 405 nurses working at a large hospital in China. The results indicate that (1) SSL brought more WWB and less WFC, (2) TAW mediated the correlations between them, and (3) SL stimulated more TAW than did SSL and weakened the influence of SSL on TAW. Metal–organic framework materials (MOFs) and their derivatives are considered ideal immobilization carrier materials because of their large specific surface area, high porosity and excellent structural designability. Among them, ZIF-8 has great potential for immobilization of enzymes due to mild synthesis conditions, and good biocompatibility. However, conventional ZIF-8 crystals have poor separation and recovery efficiency due to their small pore size and poor acid stability, greatly limiting their application in enzyme immobilization and further application. Although the carbonization of ZIF-8 by pyrolysis has been shown to be one of the approaches that can enhance its chemical stability, this still does not effectively solve the problem of the difficulty of recycling. Herein, we developed a strategy of pre-carbonization immersion (immersion in aqueous FeSO4 solution before carbonization) to synthesize ordered macroporous ZIF-8-derived carbon materials with stable ferromagnetism (denoted as CZ-x-M-y, where x denotes the carbonization temperature and y denotes the concentration of the impregnated FeSO4 solution) and used them to immobilize lipases for biodiesel production. XRD analysis showed that the magnetic properties in the materials came from Fe3C species. We found that the magnetic carbon materials obtained by carbonization at 600 °C showed the best immobilization effect, where CZ-600-M-0.3 (using 0.3 mol·L−1 FeSO4 aqueous solution to soak ZIF-8 and carbonized at 600 °C) had the highest enzyme loading of 183.04 mg·g−1, which was 49.7% higher than that of the non-magnetic CZ-600. In addition, CZ-600-M-0.5 maintained the highest enzyme activity, which was 81.9% of the initial activity, after five batches of reuse. Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative disease involving articular cartilage, in which ferroptosis of chondrocytes plays an important role. Baicalin (BAI) exerts regulatory effects in a wide range of orthopedic diseases including OA, but its effect on ferroptosis of chondrocytes (CHs) is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of BAI on ferroptosis in human OA chondrocytes (OACs), and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods: CHs were treated with IL-1β (10 ng/mL) to simulate inflammation in vitro. Immunofluorescence, quantitative RT-PCR, Western blotting and cell viability assay were performed to evaluate the impacts of BAI on Fe2+ level, mitochondrial dysfunction, ferroptosis-related proteins, oxidative stress and cytotoxicity in CHs. Additionally, siRNA was made use of to knock out nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) to analyze the role played by Nrf2 in BAI-induced CH ferroptosis. Results: BAI eliminated IL-1β-induced Fe2+ accumulation, changes in mitochondrial membrane potential and ferroptosis-related protein GPX4, SLC7A11, P53 and ACSL4 levels, as well as reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) accumulation in CHs. Besides, BAI reversed IL-1β-induced decrease of Collagen II and increase of MMP13 in CHs. Meanwhile, BAI attenuated IL-1β-induced CH toxicity and promoted Nrf2 antioxidant system activation. When Nrf2 was knocked down by siRNA, the effects of BAI on IL-1β-induced ferroptosis-related proteins and antioxidant stress in CHs were significantly weakened. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that IL-1β can induce CH ferroptosis. BAI is able to inhibit IL-1β-induced CH ferroptosis and ECM degradation, and the specific mechanism may be that it can inhibit IL-1β-induced CH ferroptosis by activating Nrf2 antioxidant system to attenuate the accumulation of intracellular ROS and lipid ROS. However, their guest‐induced gate‐opening behaviors often lead to issues with selectivity and separation efficiency, as co‐adsorption is nearly unavoidable. Herein, we report a strategy of a confined‐rotational shutter, in which the rotation of pyridyl rings within the confined nanospace of a halogen‐bonded coordination framework (NTU‐88) creates a maximum aperture of 4.4 Å, which is very close to the molecular size of propyne (C3H4: 4.4 Å), but smaller than that of propylene (C3H6: 5.4 Å). This has been evidenced by crystallographic analyses and modelling calculations. The NTU‐88o (open phase of activated NTU‐88) demonstrates dedicated C3H4 adsorption, and thereby leads to a sieving separation of C3H4/C3H6 under ambient conditions. The integrated nature of high uptake ratio, considerable capacity, scalable synthesis, and good stability make NTU‐88 a promising candidate for the feasible removal of C3H4 from C3H4/C3H6 mixtures. Endothelial cells (ECs), found in the innermost layer of blood vessels, are crucial for maintaining the structure and function of coronary microcirculation. Dysregulated coronary microcirculation poses a fundamental challenge in diabetes-related myocardial microvascular injury, impacting myocardial blood perfusion, thrombogenesis, and inflammation. Extensive research aims to understand the mechanistic connection and functional relationship between cardiac EC dysfunction and the development, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes-related myocardial microvascular injury. Despite the low mitochondrial content in ECs, mitochondria act as sensors of environmental and cellular stress, influencing EC viability, structure, and function. Mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy play a vital role in orchestrating mitochondrial responses to various stressors by regulating morphology, localization, and degradation. Impaired mitochondrial dynamics or reduced mitophagy is associated with EC dysfunction, serving as a potential molecular basis and promising therapeutic target for diabetes-related myocardial microvascular injury. This review introduces newly recognized mechanisms of damaged coronary microvasculature in diabetes-related microvascular injury and provides updated insights into the molecular aspects of mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy. Additionally, novel targeted therapeutic approaches against diabetes-related microvascular injury or endothelial dysfunction, focusing on mitochondrial fission and mitophagy in endothelial cells, are summarized. The particulate matter samples of gasoline direction injection (GDI) gasoline engine obtained from road experiments are photographed to obtain the emission particulate matter images based on the transmission electron microscope under high altitude environment. The results show that the micro-morphology characteristics of the particulate matter emitted by GDI gasoline engine in plateau area are similar to those in low altitude area, and the main morphology is cloud-like, filamentous, flocculent, chain-like, cluster-like, like altitude contour line, etc. The images are processed by MATLAB and Python software, and the fractal dimension, average gray value and gray histogram are obtained. The fractal dimensions of the emission particulate data obtained are between 1.81 and 1.89, which has some deviation compared with the fractal dimension of the emission particulate data at low altitude of 1.58 and 1.80. With the increase of altitude, its fractal dimension increases more obviously. It can be seem from the characteristics of gray value and gray histogram of particle images that the average gray value of GDI gasoline engine particles is higher. The gray histogram distribution of 5–50 nm images is uniform, and the individual particles in the images are clear. The gray histogram of 100–500 nm images is scattered, so it is easy to extract and separate the image edge contour. 5–50 nm images are used to study the details and characteristics of individual particles, and 100–500 nm transmission electron microscope images are used to study the overall morphology of particles. High-frequency radars (HFRs) are important for remote sensing of the marine environment due to their ability to provide real-time, wide-coverage, and high-resolution measurements of the ocean surface current, wave height, and wind speed. However, due to the intricate multidimensional processing demands (e.g., time, Doppler, and space) for internal data and effective suppression of external noise, conducting quality control (QC) on radar-measured data is of great importance. In this paper, we first present a comprehensive quality evaluation model for both radial current and synthesized vector current obtained by direction-finding (DF) HFRs. In the proposed model, the quality factor (QF) is calculated for each current cell to evaluate its reliability. The QF for the radial current depends on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and DF factor of the first-order Bragg peak region in the range–Doppler (RD) spectrum, and the QF for the synthesized vector current can be calculated using an error propagation model based on geometric dilution of precision (GDOP). A QC method is then proposed for processing HFR-derived surface current data via the following steps: (1) signal preprocessing is performed to minimize the effect of unwanted external signals such as radio frequency interference and ionospheric clutter; (2) radial currents with low QFs and outliers are removed; (3) the vector currents with low QFs are also removed before spatial smoothing and interpolation. The proposed QC method is validated using a one-month-long dataset collected by the Ocean State Monitoring and Analyzing Radar, model S (OSMAR-S). The improvement in the current quality is proven to be significant. Using the buoy data as ground truth, after applying QC, the correlation coefficients (CCs) of the radial current, synthesized current speed, and synthesized current direction are increased by 4.33~102.91%, 1.04~90.74%, and 1.20~62.67%, respectively, and the root mean square errors (RMSEs) are decreased by 2.51~49.65%, 7.86~27.22%, and 1.68~28.99%, respectively. Inland shipping is of great significance in economic development, and ship surveillance and classification are of great importance for ship management and dispatch. For river ship detection, ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) radar is an effective equipment owing to its wide coverage and easy deployment. The extension in range, Doppler, and azimuth and target recognition are two main problems in UHF ship detection. Clustering is a necessary step to get the center of an extended target. However, it is difficult to distinguish between different target echoes when they overlap each other in range, Doppler, and azimuth and so far practical methods for extended target recognition with UHF radar have been rarely discussed. In this study, a two-stage target classification method is proposed for UHF radar ship detection. In the first stage, grid-based gradient descent (GBGD) clustering is proposed to distinguish targets with three-dimensional (3D) information. Then in the second stage, the inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging algorithm is employed to differentiate ships of different types. The simulation results show that the proposed method achieves a 20% higher clustering accuracy than other methods when the targets have close 3D information. Synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) has emerged as an effective technique for monitoring potentially unstable landslides and has found widespread application. Nevertheless, in mountainous reservoir regions, the precision of time-series InSAR outcomes is often constrained by topography-dependent atmospheric delay (TDAD) effects. To address this limitation, we propose a novel InSAR time-series method that integrates TDAD correction. This approach employs advanced deep learning algorithms to individually model and mitigate TDAD for each interferogram, thereby enhancing the accuracy of small baseline subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) and stacking InSAR time-series analyses. Utilizing Sentinel-1 data, we apply this method to identify potential landslides in the Baihetan reservoir area, located in southwestern China, where we successfully identified 26 potential landslide sites. Comparative experimental results demonstrate a significant reduction (averaging 70% and reaching up to 90%) in phase standard deviation (StdDev) in the corrected interferograms, indicating a marked decrease in phase–topography correlation. Furthermore, the corrected time-series InSAR results effectively remove TDAD signals, leading to clearer displacement boundaries and a remarkable reduction in other spurious displacement signals. Overall, this method efficiently addresses TDAD in time-series InSAR, enabling precise identification of potentially unstable landslides influenced by TDAD, and providing essential technical support for early landslide hazard detection using time-series InSAR. The study was conducted to investigate the effect of active yeast on the growth performance, serum antioxidant capacity and immunity of weaned piglets. A total of 200 weaned 32-day-old piglets were randomly divided into four groups, with five replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each replicate. Piglets in the control group were fed with a basal diet, and the piglets in Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3 were fed with a basal diet supplemented with 0.25, 0.50 and 1.00 g/kg coated active Saccharomyces boulardii, respectively. The pre-test period was 1 w, and the formal test period was 28 d. The results showed that the final weight of piglets in the Group 2 and Group 3 was increased by 6.21% and 8.13% compared with the control group (P<0.05), and the average daily gain was increased by 11.11% and 13.68% compared with the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the feed to gain ratio of all coated yeast groups was significantly decreased by 4.89%, 7.61% and 9.24% (P<0.05), and the diarrhea rate was decreased by 53.67%, 69.50% and 73.61% (P<0.01). The serum T-SOD activity of piglets in the Group 2 and Group 3 was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the T-AOC was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The serum IL-10 content of piglets in the active yeast group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The serum TNF-α content of the Group 2 and Group 3 was significantly lower than that of the control group and Group 1 (P<0.05). The number of Lactobacillus in cecum of the Group 2 and Group 3 was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), the number of Escherichia coli in cecum of all coated active yeast groups was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the number of yeast was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The number of Escherichia coli in the jejuni of all coated active yeast groups was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the number of yeast was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The experiment indicates that feeding appropriate amount of coated active yeast can improve the growth performance, antioxidant performance and immunity, improve intestinal flora structure of weaned piglets, and the suitable supplemental level of coated active yeast is 0.50 g/kg. In this Letter, we report that the fourth-order interatomic force constants (4th-IFCs) are significantly sensitive to the energy surface roughness of exchange-correlation (XC) functionals in density functional theory calculations. This sensitivity, which is insignificant for the second- (2nd-) and third-order (3rd-) IFCs, varies for different functionals in different materials and can cause misprediction of thermal conductivity by several times of magnitude. As a result, when calculating the 4th-IFCs using the finite difference method, the atomic displacement needs to be taken large enough to overcome the energy surface roughness, in order to accurately predict phonon lifetime and thermal conductivity. We demonstrate this phenomenon on a benchmark material (Si), a high-thermal conductivity material (BAs), and a low thermal conductivity material (NaCl). For Si, we find that the LDA, PBE, and PBEsol XC functionals are all smooth to the 2nd- and 3rd-IFCs but all rough to the 4th-IFCs. This roughness can lead to a prediction of nearly one order of magnitude lower thermal conductivity. For BAs, all three functionals are smooth to the 2nd- and 3rd-IFCs, and only the PBEsol XC functional is rough for the 4th-IFCs, which leads to a 40% underestimation of thermal conductivity. For NaCl, all functionals are smooth to the 2nd- and 3rd-IFCs but rough to the 4th-IFCs, leading to a 70% underprediction of thermal conductivity at room temperature. Heavy metal(loid)s (HMs) in soils near mining sites often cause serious environmental and health issues. Accurately assessing soil HM risks and identifying priority pollutants are crucial for improving risk control efficiency with limited management costs and resources. Traditional deterministic assessments may yield biased results due to the imprecision and ambiguity of environmental data and assessment processes. To compensate for the deficiencies of deterministic assessment, a comprehensive probabilistic-fuzzy model was developed based on fuzzy theory, probability methods, the soil contamination risk (SCR) index, and a human health risk (HR) assessment framework. According to this model, the soil HM risk status in a typical mining area in China was evaluated. The results indicated that Cd and Cu significantly violated the relevant environmental guidelines and were considered priority metals for environmental risk (ER). Notably, Cd's hazard predominantly manifested in a solid potential ecological risk (PER), whereas Cu's environmental impact primarily manifested as a soil contamination risk (SCR). From the perspective of HR, soil HMs already pose a considerable threat to human health, with children facing greater HRs than adults. As was identified as a priority element for HRs, with carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks reaching unacceptable levels. Regarding general risk (GR), Cd and Cu ranked in the first gradient and As in the second gradient. Overall, the accumulation of soil HMs—especially Cd, Cu, and As—in the study area has posed a significant threat to the ecosystem and human health. The risks of other HMs (Pb, Zn, Cr, and Ni) are relatively low, but the superimposed risks of multiple HMs should not be ignored. The probabilistic–fuzzy model reduces the uncertainty of risk assessment, and the model integrates the environmental and health risks of HMs, providing more comprehensive risk information. Background: Flat panel detector (FPD) based cone‐beam computed tomography (CT) has made tremendous progress in the last two decades, with many new and advanced medical and industrial applications keeping emerging from diagnostic imaging and image guidance for radiotherapy and interventional surgery. The current cone‐beam CT (CBCT), however, is still suboptimal for head CT scan which requires a high standard of image quality. While the dual‐layer FPD technology is under extensive development and is promising to further advance CBCT from qualitative anatomic imaging to quantitative dual‐energy CT, its potential of enabling head CBCT applications has not yet been fully investigated. Purpose: The relatively moderate energy separation from the dual‐layer FPD and the overall low signal level especially at the bottom‐layer detector, could raise significant challenges in performing high‐quality dual‐energy material decomposition (MD). In this work, we propose a hybrid, physics and model guided, MD algorithm that attempts to fully use the detected x‐ray signals and prior‐knowledge behind head CBCT using dual‐layer FPD. Methods: Firstly, a regular projection‐domain MD is performed as initial results of our approach and for comparison as conventional method. Secondly, based on the combined projection, a dual‐layer multi‐material spectral correction (dMMSC) is applied to generate beam hardening free images. Thirdly, the dMMSC corrected projections are adopted as a physics‐model based guidance to generate a hybrid MD. A set of physics experiments including fan‐beam scan and cone‐beam scan using a head phantom and a Gammex Multi‐Energy CT phantom are conducted to validate our proposed approach. Results: The combined reconstruction could reduce noise by about 10% with no visible resolution degradation. The fan‐beam studies on the Gammex phantom demonstrated an improved MD performance, with the averaged iodine quantification error for the 5–15 mg/ml iodine inserts reduced from about 5.6% to 3.0% by the hybrid method. On fan‐beam scan of the head phantom, our proposed hybrid MD could significantly reduce the streak artifacts, with CT number nonuniformity (NU) in the selected regions of interest (ROIs) reduced from 23 Hounsfield Units (HU) to 4.2 HU, and the corresponding noise suppressed from 31 to 6.5 HU. For cone‐beam scan, after scatter correction (SC) and cone‐beam artifact reduction (CBAR), our approach can also significantly improve image quality, with CT number NU in the selected ROI reduced from 24.2 to 6.6 HU and the noise level suppressed from 22.1 to 8.2 HU. Conclusions: Our proposed physics and model guided hybrid MD for dual‐layer FPD based head CBCT can significantly improve the robustness of MD and suppress the low‐signal artifact. Hepatic leukemia factor (HLF), a transcription factor, is dysregulated in many cancers. This study investigates the function of HLF in prostate cancer (PCa) and its relation to tensin 1 (TNS1). Clinical tissues were collected from 24 PCa patients. Duke University 145 (DU145) and PC3 cells overexpressing HLF were established. HLF signaling was downregulated in PCa tissues compared to adjacent tissues and in DU145 and PC3 cells compared to prostate epithelial cells RWPE-1 or prostate stromal cells (WPMY-1). PCa cell lines with overexpression of HLF had reduced proliferative, migratory, and invasive activity, increased apoptosis, and cell mitosis mostly in the G0/G1 phase. HLF induced the TNS1 transcription to activate the p53 pathway. Depletion of TNS1 reversed the anti-tumor effects of HLF on PCa cells and tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. In summary, our findings suggest that HLF suppressed PCa progression by upregulating TNS1 expression and inducing the p53 pathway activation, which might provide insights into novel strategies for combating PCa. The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effect of dietary mushroom residue on growth performance, nutrient apparent digestibility and serum biochemical indexes of weaned piglets. A total of 320 'Duroc x Landrace x Yorkshire' piglets were selected and divided into four groups with eight replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each replicate. Pigs in control group were fed with basal diet, and pigs in fungus residue group were fed with the basal diet containing 1%, 2% and 4% flammulina mushroom residue, respectively. The experiment lasted for 28 d. The results showed that the final weight, average daily gain and feed to gain ratio of weaned piglets were not significantly affected by edible fungus residue (P>0.05), but the diarrhea rate of weaned piglets was significantly lower than that of control group when the edible fungus residue supplemental level was 2% and 4% (P<0.05). Compared with control group, the digestibility of crude protein of weaned piglets in 2% group was significantly increased (P<0.05), and the utilization rate of crude fiber of weaned piglets in 2% group and 4% group was significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with control group, the serum GLB content of piglets in all bacteria residue groups was significantly increased (P<0.05). The content of TP and ALB and the activity of SOD and CIHR in serum of weaned piglets in 2% group and 4% group were significantly increased (P<0.05), while the content of TC and MDA were significantly decreased (P<0.05). The study indicates that weaning piglets eating proper amount of edible fungus residue can reduce the diarrhea rate, improve the digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber, and improve some serum biochemical indexes. An improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is combined with a machine learning classifier to meet the needs of underwater manned/unmanned cooperative warfare architecture evaluation. Firstly, based on the traditional Cauchy variation method, the particles in the population are disturbed in a dynamic way so that the particles trapped in the local optimal can jump out of the local optimal, and the convergence performance of the particle swarm optimization is improved. Secondly, the accuracy of the index set is analyzed based on the CART decision tree algorithm and the IWRF algorithm. A screening method of key indexes with fewer evaluation indexes and high evaluation accuracy is developed to solve the problem of a large number of evaluation indexes and unclear correlation of the underwater combat system. Through simulation, the extraction results of key indicators were verified, and the reliability coefficient of the final simulation experiment was 0.93, which can be considered as high reliability and effectiveness of the key indicators extracted in this study. By combining multi-objective optimization with machine learning and weighing evaluation efficiency and accuracy, a high-precision and rapid evaluation of a few indicators is achieved, which provides support for establishing an evaluation model of SoS architecture for underwater manned/unmanned cooperative operations. This research result can provide inspiration for the evaluation and evaluation of the system in order to analyze the accuracy of indicators and the evaluation effect and carry out research by simulating the actual system with tools with a high simulation degree. Despite the notable progress made in recent years, the understanding of the genetic control of gonadal sex differentiation and asymmetrical ovariogenesis in chicken during embryonic development remains incomplete. This study aimed to identify potential key genes and speculate about the mechanisms associated with ovary and testis development via an analysis of the results of PacBio and Illumina transcriptome sequencing of embryonic chicken gonads at the initiation of sexual differentiation (E4.5, E5.5, and E6.5). PacBio sequencing detected 328 and 233 significantly up-regulated transcript isoforms in females and males at E4.5, respectively. Illumina sequencing detected 95, 296 and 445 DEGs at E4.5, E5.5, and E6.5, respectively. Moreover, both sexes showed asymmetrical expression in gonads, and more DEGs were detected on the left side. There were 12 DEGs involved in cell proliferation shared between males and females in the left gonads. GO analysis suggested that coagulation pathways may be involved in the degradation of the right gonad in females and that blood oxygen transport pathways may be involved in preventing the degradation of the right gonad in males. These results provide a comprehensive expression profile of chicken embryo gonads at the initiation of sexual differentiation, which can serve as a theoretical basis for further understanding the mechanism of bird sex determination and its evolutionary process. Coincidental realization of broadband spectral coverage and high resolution in one spectrometer system has always been a challenge. Here, we report the development of a high-resolution visible CCD spectrometer based on the virtually imaged phase array (VIPA) technique. By using a thin glass plate and a reflective grating, a two-dimensional cross-dispersion was realized. A broadband coverage of ∼14.94 THz and a high resolution of ∼1 GHz at 632.996 nm were achieved with a simple structure. The effects of the surface quality of VIPA etalon, the pixel size of the CCD camera, the pinhole size of the input beam, and the focal length of the imaging lens on the resolution of the spectrometer and the transverse spot size on the detector plane were considered. A comparison between the experimental results by changing the imaging lens and the theoretical calculation results proved a better simulation of these two parameters, which is a helpful contribution to the design and construction of a VIPA spectrometer. Although monoterpenes are suggested to mediate oxidative status, their role in abiotic stress responses is currently unclear. Here, a foliar spray of monoterpenes increased antioxidant capacity and decreased oxidative stress of Solanum lycopersicum under water deficit stress. The foliar content of monoterpenes increased with spray concentration indicating foliar uptake of exogenous monoterpenes. Exogenous monoterpene application substantially decreased foliar accumulation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde). However, it appears that monoterpenes prevent the accumulation of reactive oxygen species rather than mitigating subsequent reactive oxygen species-induced damage. Low spray concentration (1.25 mM) proved most effective in decreasing oxidative stress but did not up-regulate the activity of key antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and ascorbate peroxidase) even though higher (2.5 and 5 mM) spray concentrations did, suggesting a complex role for monoterpenes in mediating antioxidant processes. Furthermore, soil drying caused similar photosynthetic limitations in all plants irrespective of monoterpene treatments, apparently driven by strong reductions in stomatal conductance as photosystem II efficiency only decreased in very dry soil. We suggest that exogenous monoterpenes may mitigate drought-induced oxidative stress by direct quenching and/or up-regulating endogenous antioxidative processes. Background: Despite the popularity of modern medicine, medicinal plants remain a cornerstone of treatment for numerous diseases, particularly among ethnic groups and tribal communities around the globe. Ethnomedicine offers advantages such as ease of use, convenience, and economic benefits. Medicinal plant knowledge within Bulang ethnic community of southwest China is a valuable complement to Chinese ethnomedicine systems. Accumulated medical knowledge is due to the extensive length of occupation by Bulang People, considered the earliest inhabitants of Xishuangbanna; this has resulted in the development of various traditional treatment methods with local characteristics and unique curative effects. Therefore, there is exceeding value in exploring the medical knowledge of Bulang. Methods: A total of 175 local informants participated in the interviews and distribution of questionnaires in 10 Bulang villages in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. We documented the community of Bulang's use of medicinal herbs, and we used both the informant consensus factor (ICF) and use value (UV) methodologies to analyze the data. Furthermore, we conducted a comparative study to explore the potential of Bulang traditional medicine by comparing it to traditional Dai medicine. Results: The study recorded 60 medicinal plant species belonging to 41 families and 59 genera, including 22 species of herb, 22 species of shrub, nine species of trees, and seven species of liana. Araceae, Compositae, Lamiaceae and Leguminosae were found to have the highest number of species. The affordability and cultural heritage of Bulang medicine make it advantageous, Investigated Informants report that increased usage of Western medicine (88%), less availability of herbal medicine (95.43%), and the reduction in medicinal plant resources (80.57%) pose significant threats to Bulang medicine. All Bulang medicinal plants are naturally grown, with only 22 per cent being cultivated. Camellia sinensis (0.94) and Zingiber officinale (0.89) showed the highest UV values, while the function of Phyllanthus emblica L. and Houttuynia cordata Thunb. were also noted. The ICF revealed digestive system related diseases were the most commonly treated, with conditions of the motor system using the highest number of plant species. Finally, a comparison with traditional Dai medicine determined that 22 plants (36.67%) of the 60 surveyed had higher medicinal value in Bulang medicine. Conclusion: Bulang communities primarily source medicinal plants from the wild. Should environmental damage lead to the extinction of these medicinal plants, it could result in a shift toward modern Western medicine as a preferred medical treatment. Bulang ethnomedicine is a vital supplement to China's traditional medicine, particularly aspects of ethnic medicine relevant to daily life.
