Understanding sex differences in clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes of young IS patients might provide valuable evidence for designing preventative measures and therapeutic interventions. Methods: The study included 228 acute IS patients aged up to 50 years recruited in the prospective Nanjing First Hospital Stroke Registry over a 5-year period. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to determine whether there were sex differences in clinical characteristics and outcomes of young IS patients. Results: Admission systolic blood pressure (130.12±24.3 vs 137.96±24.3 mmHg, P=0.005) of women was significantly lower than that of men. Logistic regression showed that young women had poorer outcomes defined as having modified Rankin Scale score of 3–6 at 12 months after the adjustment for history of prior stroke, NIHSS score, and complication of pneumonia (adjusted OR: 3.45; 95% CI: 1.43–8.32). Conclusion: Our study indicates that there may be significant differences in clinical characteristics between young women and men with acute IS in East China. Young women were more likely to be dead or dependent at 12 months after stroke onset. More attention should be paid to young women’s IS prevention and management in East China. GRP78, belonging to heat shock protein 70 family, has been implicated in cell death and inflammation, while little is known about its roles in COPD. Here, we demonstrate that GRP78 regulates CS-induced necroptosis and injury in bronchial epithelial cells.Materials and methods: GRP78 and necroptosis markers were examined in human bronchial epithelial (HBE) cell line, primary mouse tracheal epithelial cells, and mouse lungs. siRNA targeting GRP78 gene and necroptosis inhibitor were used. Expression of inflammatory cytokines, mucin MUC5AC, and related signaling pathways were detected.Results: Exposure to CS significantly increased the expression of GRP78 and necroptosis markers in HBE cell line, primary mouse tracheal epithelial cells, and mouse lungs. Inhibition of GRP78 significantly suppressed CS extract (CSE)-induced necroptosis. Furthermore, GRP78–necroptosis cooperatively regulated CSE-induced inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 6 (IL6), IL8, and mucin MUC5AC in HBE cells, likely through the activation of nuclear factor (NF-κB) and activator protein 1 (AP-1) pathways, respectively.Conclusion: Taken together, our results demonstrate that GRP78 promotes CSE-induced inflammatory response and mucus hyperproduction in airway epithelial cells, likely through upregulation of necroptosis and subsequent activation of NF-κB and AP-1 pathways. Thus, inhibition of GRP78 and/or inhibition of necroptosis could be the effective therapeutic approaches for the treatment of COPD. EuTe4 is a van der Waals material exhibiting a charge density wave (CDW) with a large thermal hysteresis in the resistivity and CDW gap. In this paper, we systematically study the electronic structure and transport properties of EuTe4 using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), magnetoresistance (MR) measurements, and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). We observe a CDW gap of ∼200meV at low temperatures that persists up to 400 K, suggesting that the CDW transition occurs at a much higher temperature. The ARPES intensity near the Fermi level shows large thermal hysteretic behavior, consistent with the resistivity measurement. The hysteresis in the resistivity measurement does not change under a magnetic field up to 7 T, excluding the thermal magnetic hysteretic effect. Instead, the surface topography measured with STM shows surface domains with different CDW trimerization directions, which may be important for the thermal hysteretic behavior. Interestingly, we reveal a large negative MR at low temperatures that can be associated with the canting of magnetically ordered Eu spins. Our results shed light on the understanding of magnetic, transport, and electronic properties of EuTe4.

Crystal geometry can greatly influence the emergent properties of quantum materials. As an example, the kagome lattice is an ideal platform to study the rich interplay between topology, magnetism, and electronic correlation. In this work, combining high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ab initio calculation, we systematically investigate the electronic structure of XMn6Sn6 (X=Dy,Tb,Gd,Y) family compounds. We observe the Dirac fermion and the flat band arising from the magnetic kagome lattice of Mn atoms. Interestingly, the flat band locates in the same energy region in all compounds studied, regardless of their different magnetic ground states and 4f electronic configurations. These observations suggest a robust Mn magnetic kagome lattice across the XMn6Sn6 family, thus providing an ideal platform for the search for, and investigation of, new emergent phenomena in magnetic topological materials.

Solanum undatum is a medicinal plant used for the treatment of oedema, rheumatoid arthritis and toothache, from which seven highly oxygenated steroids (1-7), including three new ones (1-3), have been characterized. Compound 1 is a new steroidal carboxylic acid featuring a cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one moiety and compounds 2 and 3 are new withanolide analogs with a 1,6-dimethyl-3,7-dioxabicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-2-ol terminus. Their structures and absolute configurations were determined by a combination of spectroscopic data, quantum chemical calculations, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and the NMR-based phenylglycine methyl ester (PGME) method. An immunosuppressive activity assay revealed that compounds 2-7 exhibited substantial activities against the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes in vitro , with IC 50 values ranging from 1.60 to 7.89 μM and 0.90 to 6.90 μM, respectively. Notably, compound 6 showed selective inhibitory effect toward B cells with the highest selective index (SI = 40.5). Preliminary structure-activity relationships of compounds 1-7 suggest that the terminal 1,6-dimethyl-3,7-dioxabicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-2-ol or 5,5-spiroacetal moiety is critical for immunosuppressive activity. Our study indicated that they could be promising lead compounds for immunosuppressive agents.

Objective: To explore and summarize the morphological features of laryngeal tuberculosis under electronic laryngoscopy and image-enhanced endoscopy (i-scan). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 31 patients diagnosed with laryngeal tuberculosis at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January 2014 to June 2024, encompassing the morphological features of electronic laryngoscopy and i-scan endoscopy, histopathological features, and supplementary clinical examination results. Descriptive statistical methods were employed for the analysis. Results: Thirty-one patients were diagnosed with laryngeal tuberculosis, including 25 males and 6 females, aged from 21 to 84 years old, with an average age of 57 years old, and the disease course was from 1 to 12 months with an average of 3 months. The clinical symptoms included hoarseness in 27 cases, foreign body sensation in the pharynx in 2 cases, and sore throat in 2 cases. Twenty-six cases involved a single site, including 24 cases of the vocal cords, 1 case of the ventricular bands, and 1 case of the epiglottis; 5 cases involved multiple sites, including 2 cases of the vocal cords and the interarytenoid area, 2 cases of the aryepiglottic fold and the epiglottis, and 1 case of the aryepiglottic fold, the ventricular bands and the epiglottis. Eighteen patients showed a single morphology type under electronic laryngoscopy, including 4 cases of the edematous exudative type, 5 cases of the ulcerative type, and 9 cases of the granulation hyperplasia type. Edema, ulcer, and granulation hyperplasia can coexist and transit between each other. A total of 13 cases presented with two or more morphological types, with the edematous exudative type, the ulcerative type, and the granulation hyperplasia type occurred 7, 9, and 10 times respectively. Twenty-two patients had active or chronic pulmonary tuberculosis, while 9 patients had normal lung imaging. The laryngeal tissue biopsy pathology of 21 patients was chronic granuloma, and 10 patients were chronic granuloma with caseous necrosis; among them, 19 cases completed the Ziel-Neelsen staining (7 cases were positive for acid-fast bacilli), and 3 cases completed the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (All were positive). Twenty cases completed the T-cell assay for tuberculosis infection (19 cases were positive), 15 cases completed the sputum smear (6 cases were positive), 18 cases were tested for antinuclear antibody (6 cases were positive), and 14 cases completed the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (4 cases were positive). Six patients underwent i-scan examination. In cases of ulcerative laryngeal tuberculosis without granulation hyperplasia in the surrounding tissues, i-scan revealed an abundance of abundant slightly thickened and tortuous oblique and dendritic blood vessels around the ulcer. If the pseudomembrane in the deep ulcer was thick, the blood vessel shadow was not visible. In shallow ulcers, there were areas of deep congestion and scattered dot-shaped blood vessel shadowst with uneven distribution; in cases of laryngeal tuberculosis with coexistence of the edematous exudative type and the granuloma type, i-scan visualized laryngeal cord edema with white exudates on the surface. Beneath the laryngeal cord exudates, there were scattered dot-shaped and irregularly distorted linear blood vessel shadows with uneven distribution, and tortuous, oblique, and dendritic blood vessels were observed around the lesion. In granuloma-type laryngeal tuberculosis, i-scan demonstrated that the area of granulation hyperplasia around the ulcer focus was significantly congested, characterized by scattered thick dot-shaped blood vessel shadows and irregularly distorted linear blood vessel shadows. Conclusions: Laryngeal tuberculosis presents as the edematous exudative type, the ulcerative type, and the granulation hyperplasia type under electronic laryngoscopy, and these types can coexist and interact. i-scan endoscopy can reveal detailed microvascular morphology and other subtle morphological characteristics. The identification and summary of these morphological characteristics are beneficial for the early detection and diagnosis of laryngeal tuberculosis.

Background: Streptococcus pyogenes is a common gram-positive bacterium, belonging to group A Streptococcus (GAS), and is responsible for causing a range of clinical conditions. Brain abscess caused by GAS is uncommon in pediatric infectious diseases, and GAS brain abscess without acute infectious symptoms has been rarely reported., Case Presentation: We present a case of one GAS brain abscess in a previously healthy child with unusual clinical manifestations of decreased muscle strength in the left limbs. The right frontal lobe mass lesion was resected using a microscope-based neuronavigation system. A sole defectively beta-hemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes was isolated from the lesion. The patient's peripheral blood whole-exome and the pathogen's whole-genome sequencing were performed respectively, revealing a heterozygous mutation in the interferon regulatory factor-8 (IRF8) gene in the patient and lack of hyaluronic acid capsules in Streptococcus pyogenes (genotype emm22). The patient eventually recovered after prompt surgical drainage of the abscess and appropriate antibiotic treatment., Conclusions: It is important to pay attention to Streptococcus pyogenes brain abscesses with mild clinical manifestations. Objective: To compare the accuracy and efficiency between the model development method and the software development method, which design and develop 3D printed integral anatomical acetabular prosthesis to be used in total hip arthroplasty(THA) for patients with Crowe type Ⅱ and Ⅲ developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH). Methods: Fifteen patients with end-stage hip osteoarthritis due to Crowe type Ⅱ and Ⅲ DDH who underwent THA in the Orthopedics Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College between January 2015 and June 2023 were selected in this study retrospectively. There were 1 male (1 hip) and 14 females (17 hips) with a mean age of (55.1±9.1) years. There were 12 hips with Crowe type Ⅱ, 6 hips with Crowe type Ⅲ. The preoperative pelvis three-dimensional CT data in those patients were used to design integral anatomical acetabular prosthesis. The model development group used 3D printing technology to print life-size pelvis models. The acetabulum was reamed and the acetabulum cup was inserted into the socket according to conventional THA procedures. The bone defect above the acetabulum cup was filled with bone wax. The Mimics and 3-matic software were used to simulate the THA procedures, design and install the integrated anatomical acetabular prosthesis in the software development group. The operation time, the size of the acetabular cup, the volume and surface area of the acetabulum bone defect, the acetabular cup's inclination and anteversion, the horizontal distance and the vertical distance of hip rotation center were compared between the two methods. Results: The study in the two groups were all based on the data of 18 hips in the 15 patients. The horizontal and vertical distances of rotation center in the model development group and software development group was (32.08±1.80) mm, (32.17±2.40) mm and (14.36±1.53) mm, (15.11±1.45) mm, respectively (both P >0.05). The cup size in model development group was (48.56±1.15)mm, and it was (48.77±1.22) mm in the software group ( P =0.160). The anteversion and inclination of the acetabular cup in the model and software groups were 23.79°±6.31°, 30.49°±11.03° and 15.17°±0.52°, 40.24°±0.58°, respectively (both P <0.01). The volume and surface area of the acetabulum bone defect in the model development group was (5.06±2.86) mm 3 and (8.31±2.21) mm 2 , respectively, while it was (4.01±2.56)mm 3 and (6.83±2.71) mm 2 , respectively, in the software development group (both P <0.05). The work time in the model development group was (24.43±0.68) h and (0.47±0.12) h in the software development group, respectively ( P <0.001). Conclusion: Compared with the 3D printing model development method, the application of Mimics and 3-matic software to design and develop integrated anatomical acetabular prosthesis in total hip arthroplasty for Crowe type Ⅱ and Ⅲ DDH show advantages of convenience, high efficiency and more accuracy.

A protein-expressing citrus tristeza virus-based vector construct, pT36CA-V1.3, obtained from a California isolate of the T36 strain (T36CA), was retooled into a virus-induced gene silencing system intended for use with studies of California citrus. Virus-induced gene silencing constructs engineered with a truncated Citrus macrophylla PHYTOENE DESATURASE ( CmPDS ) gene sequence in the sense or antisense orientation worked equally well to silence the endogenous CmPDS gene. In a parallel effort to optimize vector performance, two nonsynonymous nucleotides in open reading frame 1a of pT36CA-V1.3 were replaced with those conserved in the reference sequences from the T36CA cDNA library. The resulting viruses, T36CA-V1.4 (with one amino acid modification: D760N) and T36CA-V1.5 (with two amino acid modifications: D760N and P1174L), along with T36CA-V1.3, were individually propagated in Nicotiana benthamiana and C. macrophylla plants. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) measurements of extracts of the newly emerged leaves suggested that all three viruses accumulated to similar levels in N. benthamiana plants at 5 weeks postinoculation. ELISA values of T36CA-V1.4- and -V1.5-infected C. macrophylla samples were significantly higher than that of T36CA-V1.3-infected samples within an 8- to 12-month postinoculation window, suggesting a higher accumulation of T36CA-V1.4 and -V1.5 than T36CA-V1.3. However, at 36 months postinoculation, the ELISA values suggested that all three viruses accumulated to similar levels. When C. macrophylla plants infected with each of the three viruses were grafted to commercial citrus varieties, a limited number of receptor plants became infected, demonstrating a weak but nonetheless (the first) successful delivery of T36CA to California-grown commercial citrus., Competing Interests: The author(s) declare no conflict of interest.

Surgical resection, the mainstay for melanoma treatment, faces challenges due to high tumor recurrence rates and complex postoperative wound healing. Chronic inflammation from residual disease and the risk of secondary infections impede healing. We introduce an innovative, injectable hydrogel system that integrates a multifaceted therapeutic approach. The hydrogel, crosslinked by calcium ions with sodium alginate, encapsulates a blood clot rich in dendritic cells (DCs) chemoattractants and melanoma cell-derived nanovesicles (NVs), functioning as a potent immunostimulant. This in situ recruitment strategy overcomes the limitations of subcutaneous tumor vaccine injections and more effectively achieves antitumor immunity. Additionally, the hydrogel incorporates Chlorella extracts, enhancing its antimicrobial properties to prevent wound infections and promote healing. One of the key findings of our research is the dual functionality of Chlorella extracts; they not only expedite the healing process of infected wounds but also increase the hydrogel's ability to stimulate an antitumor immune response. Given the patient-specific nature of the blood clot and NVs, our hydrogel system offers customizable solutions for individual postoperative requirements. A polycrystalline sample LuCrO 3 has been characterized by neutron powder diffraction (NPD) and magnetization measurements. Its crystal structure has been Rietveld refined from NPD data in space group Pnma; this perovskite contains strongly tilted CrO 6 octahedra with extremely bent Cr-O-Cr superexchange angles of ∼142°. The NPD data show that below Néel temperature (T N  ≃ 131 K), the magnetic structure can be defined as an A-type antiferromagnetic arrangement of Cr 3+ magnetic moments, aligned along the b axis, with a canting along the c axis. A noticeable magnetostrictive effect is observed in the unit-cell parameters and volume upon cooling down across T N . The AC magnetic susceptibility indicates the onset of magnetic ordering below 112.6 K; the magnetization isotherms below T N show a nonlinear behaviour that is associated with the described canting of the Cr 3+ magnetic moments. From the Curie-Weiss law, the effective moment of the Cr 3+ sublattice is found to be μ eff = 3.55 μ B (calculated 3.7 μ B ) while the Θ CW parameter yields a value of -155 K, indicating antiferromagnetic interactions. There is a conspicuous increase of T N upon the application of external pressure, which must be due to shortening of the Cr-O bond length under compression that increases the orbital overlap integral., (open access.)

Machiavellianism is a personality trait that denotes cunning, manipulative ability, and a desire to gain power by any possible means. Machiavellianism is a subclinical form of psychopathy that has an impact on individual health, professional settings and social order. Machiavellians are more at risk of developing anxiety and depression; however, the underpinning mechanism has not been studied clearly. To avoid major mental health illnesses, it is critical to understand the psychological reasons, brain areas involved, and biochemical substrates for the development of Machiavellianism. This review will address the psychological, clinical and neural correlations of Machiavellianism, its impact on society, and highlight loopholes in comprehending the development of Machiavellianism.

Despite the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in prolonging the lifespan of individuals infected with HIV-1, it does not offer a cure for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The "block and lock" approach aims to maintain the provirus in a state of extended transcriptional arrest. By employing the "block and lock" strategy, researchers endeavor to impede disease progression by preventing viral rebound for an extended duration following patient stops receiving ART. The crux of this strategy lies in the utilization of latency-promoting agents (LPAs) that are suitable for impeding HIV-1 provirus transcription. However, previously documented LPAs exhibited limited efficacy in primary cells or samples obtained from patients, underscoring the significance of identifying novel LPAs that yield substantial outcomes. In this study, we performed high-throughput screening of FDA-approved compound library in the J-Lat A2 cell line to discover more efficacious LPAs. We discovered ripretinib being an LPA candidate, which was validated and observed to hinder proviral activation in cell models harboring latent infections, as well as CD4 + T cells derived from infected patients. We demonstrated that ripretinib effectively impeded proviral activation through inhibition of the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway in the HIV-1 latent cells, thereby suppressing the opening states of cellular chromatin. The results of this research offer a promising drug candidate for the implementation of the "block and lock" strategy in the pursuit of an HIV-1 cure., (© 2024. Cobalt complexes with chiral quinox ligands effectively promote the enantioselective conjugate addition of enones using aryl, heteroaryl, and alkenyl halides and sulfonates. Additionally, a cobalt complex with a strongly donating diphosphine, BenzP*, successfully catalyzes the asymmetric reductive arylation and alkenylation of α,β-unsaturated amides. Both catalytic systems show broad scopes and tolerance of sensitive functional groups. Both reactions can be scaled up with low loadings of cobalt catalysts. Experimental results and density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest a new mechanism of elementary 1,4-addition of aryl cobalt(I) complexes.

A general intermolecular polarity-mismatched carboamination reaction of unactivated alkenes with unactivated alkyl halides has been developed. A series of nonactivated alkyl-substituted aziridines were constructed in exclusive regioselectivity. The dual polarity-mismatched mechanism might be involved.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of constructing an objective tinnitus subtype model based on peripheral blood differentially expressed genes (DEGs) using a combination of Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) and Random Forest algorithm (RF). Methods: From October 2019 to June 2020, peripheral blood DEGs were obtained from 37 patients (from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University)with chronic subjective high-frequency tinnitus (21 unbothersome type, 16 bothersome type) and 20 healthy volunteers through high-throughput sequencing. WGCNA was used to construct gene modules with different expression patterns and analyze their relationships with tinnitus characteristics. Subsequently, RF was employed to build subtype models, which were evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, and F1-score. Results: A total of 12 351 intergroup DEGs were divided into 9 gene modules. Among them, MEblue, MEgreen, and MEbrown showed significant negative correlations with the healthy volunteer group, while MEpink showed a significant positive correlation with the tinnitus distress group. The "Tinnitus vs. Normal" and "Compensatory vs. Decompensatory" subtype models, based on MEblue and MEpink respectively, both had AUCs greater than 0.80, accuracies above 90%, and F1-scores above 0.90, indicating good performance. Conclusions: Peripheral blood DEGs are potential biological indicators for objective classification of subjective tinnitus. The combined application of WGCNA and the Random Forest algorithm should be a viable approach to constructing an objective tinnitus subtype model. However, further exploration and refinement are needed to validate the model's generalizability, cross-dataset performance, and algorithm optimization.

Bemisia tabaci New World (NW) (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), a whitefly in the B. tabaci species complex, is polyphagous on many plant species. Yet, it has been displaced, albeit not entirely, by other whitefly species. Potential causes could include issues with adaptation, feeding, and the colonization of new-hosts; however, insights that would help clarify these possibilities are lacking. Here, we sought to address these gaps by performing electropenetrography (EPG) recordings of NW whiteflies, designated "Napus" and "Rapa," reared on 2 colony hosts, Brassica napus and B. rapa, respectively. Analysis of 17 probing and pathway (pw) phase-related EPG variables revealed that the whiteflies exhibited unique probing behaviors on their respective colony hosts, with some deterrence being encountered on B. rapa. Upon switching to B. rapa and B. napus, the probing patterns of Napus and Rapa whiteflies, respectively, adapted quickly to these new-hosts to resemble that of whiteflies feeding on their colony hosts. Results for 3 of the EPG variables suggested that B. rapa's deterrence against Napus whitefly was significant prior to the phloem phase. This also suggested that adaptation by Rapa whitefly improved its pw probing on B. rapa. Based on analysis of 24 phloem phase-related EPG variables, Napus and Rapa whiteflies performed equally well once they entered phloem phase and exhibited comparable phloem acceptability on both the colony- and new-hosts. Background: Percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal discectomy (PETD) is an effective method for treating lumbar disc herniation, and is typically performed under local anesthesia. However, inadequate analgesia during the procedure remains a concern, prompting the search for a medication that can provide optimal pain control with minimal impact on the respiratory and circulatory systems., Objectives: The aim of this study was to observe the effects of different doses of esketamine combined with dexmedetomidine on reducing visual analog scale (VAS) scores during surgical interventions., Methods: One hundred two patients who underwent PETD were randomly divided into a control group (group C: normal saline + dexmedetomidine), an E1 group (0.1 mg kg -1 esketamine + dexmedetomidine), and an E2 group (0.2 mg kg -1 esketamine + dexmedetomidine). The primary outcome was the maximum visual analogue scale (VAS) (score: 0 = no pain and 10 = worst pain) at six time points. The secondary outcomes included the Assessment of Alertness/Sedation Scale (OAA/S) score and mean arterial pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), and oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ) at 11 time points. The incidence of adverse reactions during and 24 h after the operation and patient satisfaction with the anesthesia were also recorded., Results: Compared with those in group C, the VAS scores of patients in groups E1 and E2 were lower at T 6 , T 7 , and T 9 (P < 0.05). From T 4 to T 10 , the OAA/S scores of the E1 and E2 groups were both lower than those of group C (P < 0.05), and at the T 4 -T 6 time points, the OAA/S score of the E2 group was lower than that of group E1 (P < 0.05). At T 4 and T 5 , the HR and BP of patients in groups E1 and E2 were greater than those in group C (P < 0.05). Compared with those in group C, the incidences of intraoperative illusion, floating sensation, postoperative dizziness, and hyperalgesia in groups E1 and E2 were significantly greater (P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in patient RR, SpO 2 , or postoperative satisfaction with anesthesia among the three groups (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: The combination of esketamine and dexmedetomidine can reduce VAS scores during certain stages of this type of surgery; it has minimal impact on respiration and circulation. However, this approach is associated with increased incidences of postoperative dizziness and psychiatric side effects, which may also affect patients' compliance with surgical instructions from medical staff. Objective: To explore accuracy and clinical effect of robot-assisted implantation of sacroiliac penetrating screw in orthopedic surgery for posterior pelvic ring fracture., Methods: The clinical data of 24 patients with posterior pelvic ring fracture treated with robot-assisted sacroiliac penetration screws from August 2022 to August 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, including 10 males and 14 females; aged from 21 to 73 years old with an average of (49.29±14.48) years old;according to Tile pelvic fractures, 13 patients were type B and 11 were type C. The effect of screw placement was evaluated according to Gras criteria based on postoperative CT scan results. At the final follow-up, fracture healing was evaluated according to Matta score, and functional recovery was evaluated by Majeed score., Results: All patients were followed up for 3 to 13 months with an average of (6.00±3.28) months. Totally 36 sacroiliac penetrating screws, 18 S 1 penetrating screws, 18 S 2 penetrating screws were inserted, a total of 29 were excellent and 7 good according to Gras standard. Screw adjustment times was 0.00 (0.00, 0.75) times. At the final follow-up, Matta score was excellent in 18 patients, 5 good and 1 moderate, and the maximum displacement distance was 2.55 (0.00, 5.65) mm. Majeed score was 84.37±8.38, 15 patients were excellent, 7 good and 2 moderate., Conclusion: Robot could accurately and safely assist in the placement of sacroiliac joint screws for the treatment of posterior pelvic ring fractures, and promote postoperative functional recovery of patients.

The synthesis of deuterated gem -difluoroalkenes via selective deuterodefluorination of β-CF 3 -cinnamates using a nickel catalyst has been reported for the first time. Commercially available deuterated formic acid is a cheap and convenient deuterium source. The nickel-catalyst showed high selectivity for monodefluorination and avoided competitive reactions such as multiple defluorination or hydrogenation.

The direct synthesis of C4-acyl indoles deprived of C2 and C3 substituents has proven to be challenging, with scarce efficient synthetic routes being reported. Herein, we disclose a highly site-selective palladium-catalyzed C-H acylation for the construction of C4-acyl indoles via a Catellani-Lautens cyclization strategy. In addition, we systematically studied the ortho C-H acylation mechanism of iodoaniline through density functional theory (DFT) calculations and combined experimental results to elucidate the principle of high chemoselectivity brought by triazine benzoate as an acylation reagent.

Emotional distress (ED), commonly characterized by symptoms of depression and/or anxiety, is prevalent in patients with cancer. Preclinical studies suggest that ED can impair antitumor immune responses, but few clinical studies have explored its relationship with response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Here we report results from cohort 1 of the prospective observational STRESS-LUNG study, which investigated the association between ED and clinical efficacy of first-line treatment of ICIs in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. ED was assessed by Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale. The study included 227 patients with 111 (48.9%) exhibiting ED who presented depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 score ≥5) and/or anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item score ≥5) symptoms at baseline. On the primary endpoint analysis, patients with baseline ED exhibited a significantly shorter median progression-free survival compared with those without ED (7.9 months versus 15.5 months, hazard ratio 1.73, 95% confidence interval 1.23 to 2.43, P = 0.002). On the secondary endpoint analysis, ED was associated with lower objective response rate (46.8% versus 62.1%, odds ratio 0.54, P = 0.022), reduced 2-year overall survival rate of 46.5% versus 64.9% (hazard ratio for death 1.82, 95% confidence interval 1.12 to 2.97, P = 0.016) and detriments in quality of life. The exploratory analysis indicated that the ED group showed elevated blood cortisol levels, which was associated with adverse survival outcomes. This study suggests that there is an association between ED and worse clinical outcomes in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer treated with ICIs, highlighting the potential significance of addressing ED in cancer management. The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in upholding intestinal health, fostering intestinal development, fortifying organisms against pathogen intrusion, regulating nutrient absorption, and managing the body's lipid metabolism. However, the influence of different cultivation modes on the growth indices and intestinal microbes of Salmo trutta fario remains underexplored. In this study, we employed high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics techniques to scrutinize the intestinal microbiota in three farming modes: traditional pond aquaculture (TPA), recirculating aquaculture (RA), and flow-through aquaculture (FTA). We aimed to assess the impact of different farming methods on the water environment and Salmo trutta fario 's growth performance. Our findings revealed that the final weight and weight gain rate in the FTA model surpassed those in the other two. Substantial disparities were observed in the composition, relative abundance, and diversity of Salmo trutta fario gut microbiota under different aquaculture modes. Notably, the dominant genera of Salmo trutta fario gut microbiota varied across farming modes: for instance, in the FTA model, the most prevalent genera were SC-I-84 (7.34%), Subgroup&#95;6 (9.93%), and UTCFX1 (6.71%), while, under RA farming, they were Bacteroidetes&#95;vadinHA17 (10.61%), MBNT15 (7.09%), and Anaeromyxoactor (6.62%). In the TPA model, dominant genera in the gut microbiota included Anaeromyxobacter (8.72%), Bacteroidetes&#95;vadinHA17 (8.30%), and Geobacter (12.54%). From a comparative standpoint, the genus-level composition of the gut microbiota in the RA and TPA models exhibited relative similarity. The gut microbiota in the FTA model showcased the most intricate functional diversity, while TPA farming displayed a more intricate interaction pattern with the gut microbiota. Transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total dissolved solids, and temperature emerged as pivotal factors influencing Salmo trutta fario gut microbiota under diverse farming conditions. These research findings offer valuable scientific insights for fostering healthy aquaculture practices and disease prevention and control measures for Salmo trutta fario , holding substantial significance for the sustainable development of the cold-water fish industry in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Objective: To analyze the hip joint biomechanics of the acetabular anatomical reconstruction and nonanatomical reconstruction in total hip arthroplasty (THA) for Crowe type Ⅲ developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) by finite element method, which provided theoretical foundation and experimental basis for the anatomical acetabular reconstruction during THA in clinical practice., Methods: One patient with left end-stage hip arthritis secondary to Crowe type Ⅲ DDH was selected in this study, who underwent total hip arthroplasty in the orthopedic department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College in April 2020. This patient was female, 57 years old. The preoperative and postoperative three dimentional CT scan of the patient's pelvis were performed. Fourteen acetabular cup models with different anteversion, inclination and rotation center height were established in Mimics and 3-Matic software. The boundary and load conditions were set in Abaqus software. The Von Mises and stress distribution of the hip joint were calculated and observed., Results: In the Crowe type Ⅲ DDH THA, if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's inclination was set as 40°, the cup's anteversion varied from 5° to 25°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 20°anteversioin;if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's anteversion was set as 15°, the cup's inclination varied from 35° to 55°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 35° inclination;if the acetabular cup's anteversion and inclination were set as 15°and 40°respectively, the up migration of hip rotaion center varied from 0 mm to 20 mm, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 10 mm up migration. In all fourteen models, the Von Mises value of the acetabulum, acetabulum cup and polyethylene liner were lowest when the acetabular cup's anteversion and inlcination were 15°, 35° respectively, as well as the rotation center was restored anatomically., Conclusion: In total hip arthroplasty for Crowe type Ⅲ DDH, the anatomical restoration of hip rotation center with 15° anteversion and 35° inclination of the acetabular cup are suggested, bone graft above the acetabular cup and additional screws are recommended simultaneously to further reduce the Von Mises of hip joint.

A nickel complex of chiral bisoxazolines catalyzed the stereoselective reductive arylation of ketones in high enantioselectivity. A range of common acyclic and cyclic ketones reacted without the aid of directing groups. Mechanistic studies using isolated complex of a chiral bis(oxazoline) (L)Ni(Ar)Br revealed that Mn reduction was not needed, while Lewis acidic titanium alkoxides were critical to ketone insertion.

Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, the oomycotic pathogen responsible for potato late blight, is the most devastating disease of potato production. The primary pesticides used to control oomycosis are phenyl amide fungicides, which cause environmental pollution and toxic residues harmful to both human and animal health. To address this, an antimicrobial peptide, NoPv1, has been screened to target Plasmopara viticola cellulose synthase 2 (PvCesA2) to inhibit the growth of Phytophthora infestans ( P. infestans ). In this study, we employed AlphaFold2 to predict the three-dimensional structure of PvCesA2 along with NoPv peptides. Subsequently, utilizing computational methods, we dissected the interaction mechanism between PvCesA2 and these peptides. Based on this analysis, we performed a saturation mutation of NoPv1 and successfully obtained the double mutants DP1 and DP2 with a higher affinity for PvCesA2. Meanwhile, dynamics simulations revealed that both DP1 and DP2 utilize a mechanism akin to the barrel-stave model for penetrating the cell membrane. Furthermore, the predicted results showed that the antimicrobial activity of DP1 was superior to that of NoPv1 without being toxic to human cells. These findings may offer insights for advancing the development of eco-friendly pesticides targeting various oomycete diseases, including late blight.

A new perovskite KOsO&#95;{3} has been stabilized under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. It is cubic at 500 K (Pm-3m) and undergoes subsequent phase transitions to tetragonal at 320 K (P4/mmm) and rhombohedral (R-3m) at 230 K as shown from refining synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction (SXRD) data. The larger orbital overlap integral and the extended wave function of 5d electrons in the perovskite KOsO&#95;{3} allow to explore physics from the regime where Mott and Hund's rule couplings dominate to the state where the multiple interactions are on equal footing. We demonstrate an exotic magnetic ordering phase found by neutron powder diffraction along with physical properties via a suite of measurements including magnetic and transport properties, differential scanning calorimetry, and specific heat, which provide comprehensive information for a system at the crossover from localized to itinerant electronic behavior.

The genus Salix L. is traditionally used in folk medicine to alleviate pain caused by various kinds of inflammation. In the present study, 10 undescribed salicin derivatives along with 5 known congeners were isolated from the barks of Salix tetrasperma , and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations, and chemical conversions. Compounds 4 - 6 significantly inhibited NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages, and the most active 4 obviously suppressed the production of IL-1β and IL-6 and decreased iNOS and COX-2 expression in a dose-dependent manner. Further Western blotting analysis revealed that the anti-inflammatory mechanism of 4 is possibly mediated through the MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.

Background: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a common complication after cardiac surgery and is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic stroke. Recommendations regarding the optimal anticoagulant, timing of initiation, and duration of therapy remain uncertain., Methods: Administrative databases were used to include adult patients who presented with POAF after cardiac surgery between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2020. Key exclusion criteria included preexisting atrial fibrillation, mechanical valve replacement, or anticoagulant prescription fill within 6 months before the index admission., Results: A total of 3214 of patients were included, and 878 (27.3%) were prescribed an oral anticoagulant (OAC) on discharge, with 536 (61%) prescribed warfarin and 342 (39%) prescribed a direct OAC. More than half of the patients (56.1%) stopped their OAC by 6 months. There was no difference in stroke or systemic embolism at 30 days, 3 months, or 6 months between those with and without anticoagulation prescribed. However, those on any OAC had higher rates of any bleeding at all time points., Conclusions: A minority of patients who presented with POAF after cardiac surgery were prescribed OAC, with warfarin being the most common agent. Nine previously unreported various types of monoterpenoid indole alkaloids, together with seven known analogues were isolated from the stem barks of Alstonia scholaris through a silica gel free methodology. The structures of 1-9 were elucidated by spectroscopic data analysis, electronic circular dichroism calculations, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is a modified echitamine-type alkaloid with a novel 6/5/5/7/6/6 hetero hexacyclic bridged ring system, and 8 and 9 exist as a zwitterion and trifluoroacetate salt, respectively. The anti-Toxoplasma activity of all isolates on infected Vero cells were evaluated, which revealed that compound 14 at 0.24 μM displayed potent activity. COPD poses a significant global public health challenge, primarily characterised by irreversible airflow restriction and persistent respiratory symptoms. The hallmark pathology of COPD includes sustained airway inflammation and the eventual destruction of lung tissue structure. While multiple risk factors are implicated in the disease's progression, the underlying mechanisms remain largely elusive. The perpetuation of inflammation is pivotal to the advancement of COPD, emphasising the importance of investigating these self-sustaining mechanisms for a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis. Autoimmune responses constitute a critical mechanism in maintaining inflammation, with burgeoning evidence pointing to their central role in COPD progression; yet, the intricacies of these mechanisms remain inadequately defined. This review elaborates on the evidence supporting the presence of autoimmune processes in COPD and examines the potential mechanisms through which autoimmune responses may drive the chronic inflammation characteristic of the disease. We present the first comprehensive tests of the universality of the light leptons in the angular distributions of semileptonic B^{0}-meson decays to charged spin-1 charmed mesons. We measure five angular-asymmetry observables as functions of the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating contributions. We use events where one neutral B is fully reconstructed in ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decays in data corresponding to 189  fb^{-1} integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector. We find no significant deviation from the standard model expectations.

Sprouting of mossy fibers, one of the most consistent findings in tissue from patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, exhibits several uncommon axonal growth features and has been considered a paradigmatic example of circuit plasticity that occurs in the adult brain. Clarifying the mechanisms responsible may provide new insight into epileptogenesis as well as axon misguidance in the central nervous system. Methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 (MeCP2) binds to methylated genomic DNA to regulate a range of physiological functions implicated in neuronal development and adult synaptic plasticity. However, exploring the potential role of MeCP2 in the documented misguidance of axons in the dentate gyrus has not yet been attempted. In this study, a status epilepticus-induced decrease of neuronal MeCP2 was observed in the dentate gyrus (DG). An essential regulatory role of MeCP2 in the development of functional mossy fiber sprouting (MFS) was confirmed through stereotaxic injection of a recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) to up- or down-regulate MeCP2 in the dentate neurons. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) was performed to identify the binding profile of native MeCP2 using micro-dissected dentate tissues. In both dentate tissues and HT22 cell lines, we demonstrated that MeCP2 could act as a transcription repressor on miR-682 with the involvement of the DNA methylation mechanism. Further, we found that miR-682 could bind to mRNA of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) in a sequence specific manner, thus leading to the suppression of PTEN and excessive activation of mTOR. This study therefore presents a novel epigenetic mechanism by identifying MeCP2/miR-682/PTEN/mTOR as an essential signal pathway in regulating the formation of MFS in the temporal lobe epileptic (TLE) mice. SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: Understanding the mechanisms that regulate axon guidance is important for a better comprehension of neural disorders. Sprouting of mossy fibers, one of the most consistent findings in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, has been considered a paradigmatic example of circuit plasticity in the adult brain. Although abnormal regulation of DNA methylation has been observed in both experimental rodents and humans with epilepsy, the potential role of DNA methylation in this well-documented example of sprouting of dentate axon remains elusive. We measure the lifetime of the D&#95;{s}^{+} meson using a data sample of 207  fb^{-1} collected by the Belle II experiment running at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The lifetime is determined by fitting the decay-time distribution of a sample of 116×10^{3} D&#95;{s}^{+}→ϕπ^{+} decays. Our result is τ&#95;{D&#95;{s}^{+}}=(499.5±1.7±0.9)  fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is significantly more precise than previous measurements.

Anesthetics-induced disruption of dentate neurogenesis in the young brain is strongly suggested to contribute to delayed neurocognitive deficit. In postnatal rodents, the neurogenesis of the dentate gyrus (DG) is sequentially derived from the secondary dentate matrix, tertiary dentate matrix and subgranular zone (SGZ). However, the effects of anesthetics on the dentate neurogenesis derived from specific sites are poorly understood. To trace the new cells generated from the postnatal secondary dentate matrix, peak stage of the tertiary dentate matrix and early stage of the SGZ after isoflurane exposure, mice at postnatal day 1 (P1), P7 and P31 were injected with BrdU at 12 h before the exposure. We found that isoflurane exposure significantly reduced the numbers of proliferating cells (1 day old), immature granule cells (21 days old) or mature granule cells (42 days old) derived from the peak stage of the tertiary dentate matrix and postnatal secondary dentate matrix, but not from the SGZ. Quantitative assessment of BrdU-/BrdU+NeuN-positive cells and cleaved caspase-3 level in the DG indicated that the reduction was correlated with cell loss rather than neuronal differentiation. Mechanistically, we demonstrated that the PI3K/Akt/GSK-3β pathway enriched by mRNA-sequencing is a requirement for the isoflurane-induced loss of 1-day-old proliferating cells generated from the tertiary dentate matrix. We report the first search for a nonstandard-model resonance decaying into τ pairs in e^{+}e^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}τ^{+}τ^{-} events in the 3.6-10  GeV/c^{2} mass range. We use a 62.8  fb^{-1} sample of e^{+}e^{-} collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axionlike particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into τ pairs, ranging from 0.7 to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5  GeV/c^{2} and for the axionlike particle model over the entire mass range.

Ketamine is a racemic mixture of equal amounts of R-ketamine and S-ketamine and is well known to anesthesiologists for its unique dissociative anesthetic properties. The pharmacological properties of ketamine, namely, its sympathetic excitation, mild respiratory depression, and potent analgesia, are still highly valued in its use as an anesthetic for some patients. In particular, since its advent, S-ketamine has been widely used as an anesthetic in many countries due to its increased affinity for NMDA receptors and its enhanced anesthetic and analgesic effects. However, the anesthetic and analgesic mechanisms of S-ketamine are not fully understood. In addition to antagonizing NMDA receptors, a variety of other receptors or channels may be involved, but there are no relevant mechanistic summaries in the literature. We investigated the effects of maize straw and its biochar application on soil organic carbon chemical composition, the abundance of carbon degradation genes ( cbh I) and the composition of cbh I gene community in a Moso bamboo forest, to provide the theoretical and scientific basis for enhancing carbon sequestration. We conducted a one-year field experiment in a subtropical Moso bamboo forest with three treatments: control (0 t C·hm -2 ), maize straw (5 t C·hm -2 ), and maize straw biochar (5 t C·hm -2 ). Soil samples were collected at the 3 rd and 12 th months after the treatment. Soil organic carbon chemical composition, the abundance and community composition of cbh I gene were determined by solid-state 13 C NMR, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, and high-throughput sequencing, respectively. The results showed that compared with the control, maize straw treatment significantly increased the content of O-alkyl C and decreased aromatic C content, while maize straw biochar treatment showed an opposite effect. Maize straw treatment significantly increased the abundance of cbh I gene and the relative abundance of Penicillium , Gaeumannomyces and Marasmius. However, maize straw biochar treatment reduced the abundance of this gene. The relative abundance of dominant cbh I in soils was positively correlated with the content of O-alkyl C and negatively correlated with the content of aromatic C. Results of redundancy analysis showed that maize straw treatment had a significant effect on the microbial community composition of cbh I gene by changing soil O-alkyl C content, while maize straw biochar affected the microbial community composition of cbh I gene by changing soil pH, organic carbon, and aromatic C content. Maize straw biochar treatment was more effective in increasing soil organic carbon stability and reducing microbial activity associated with carbon degradation in the subtropical Moso bamboo forest ecosystem compared with maize straw treatment. Therefore, the application of biochar has positive significance for maintaining soil carbon storage in subtropical forest ecosystems.

Backgroud: To investigate the effect of Luteinizing hormone (LH) level changes on the outcomes of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and embryo transfer (ET) in gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) protocol., Methods: A total of 721 patients undergoing GnRH-ant protocol COH for the first IVF/ICSI cycles were retrospectively analyzed. COH process were divided into 2 stages, before (stage 1) and after (stage 2) the GnRH-ant initiation, and each with 5 groups basing on LH levels: LH decreased more than 50% (groups A1, A2), decreased 25-50% (groups B1, B2), change less than 25% (groups C1, C2), increased 25-50% (groups D1, D2), and increased more than 50% (groups E1, E2)., Results: There were no significant differences among groups of stage1 regarding COH and ET outcomes. For stage 2, the more obvious the decrease of LH level, the more the number of oocytes retrieved, mature oocytes, fertilized oocytes, embryos cleavaged and the numbers of embryo available (P < 0.05), but without significant differences regarding ET outcomes. We also found the freeze-all rate in Group A2 was higher (P < 0.001)., Conclusion: LH level changes before GnRH-ant addition were not related to COH and ET outcomes. LH level changes after the addition of GnRH-ant were related to the outcome of COH, and no significant differences were found relating to ET outcomes., (© 2023. Cobalt complexes of chiral pyrox ligands catalyzed enantioselective reductive couplings of nonconjugated iododienes with aryl iodides or alkenyl bromides. The reaction enabled stereoselective syntheses of 5-7-membered azacycles carrying quaternary stereocenters. Mechanistically, cross-electrophile selectivity originated from selective coupling of alkylcobalt(I) complexes generated after cyclization with aryl iodides.

Breast cancer stands as the most prevalent form of cancer affecting women, with metastasis serving as a leading cause of mortality among patients with breast cancer. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the metastatic mechanism in breast cancer is essential for early detection and precision treatment of the disease. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) play a vital role in this context, representing cancer cells that detach from tumor tissues and enter the bloodstream of cancer patients. These cells travel in the blood circulation as single cells or clusters. Recent research has shed light on the enhanced metastatic potential of CTC clusters compared to single CTCs, despite their limited occurrence. The aim of the present review was to explore recent findings on CTCs with a particular focus on the clustering phenomenon of CTCs observed in breast cancer. Additionally, the present review delved into the comparison between single CTCs and CTC clusters regarding their implications for the treatment and prognosis of patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. By examining the role and mechanisms of CTCs in breast cancer metastasis, the present review provided an improved understanding of CTCs and their significance in early detection of breast cancer metastasis through peripheral blood analysis. Moreover, it contributed to the comprehension of cancer prognosis and prediction by highlighting the implications of CTCs in these aspects. Chemical investigation of the twigs of Cleistanthus sumatranus (Phyllanthaceae) led to the isolation of 10 undescribed lignans, sumatranins A-J ( 1 - 10 ). Compounds 1 - 4 are unprecedented furopyran lignans characterized by a unique 2,3,3a,9a-tetrahydro-4 H -furo[2,3- b ]chromene heterotricyclic framework. Compounds 9 and 10 are rare 9'- nor -dibenzylbutane lignans. Structures were established based on analyses of spectroscopic data, X-ray crystallographic data, and experimental ECD spectra. Immunosuppressive assays revealed compounds 3 and 9 displayed moderate inhibitory effects with good selectivity indexes against LPS-induced B lymphocyte proliferation.

Pd-catalyzed double Heck reaction allows regioselective 1,1-diarylation of unactivated aliphatic alkenes. When two different aryl bromides are used, the second aryl rings are added trans to aliphatic chains in the main olefinic isomers, consistent with a mechanism of two consecutive Heck arylations at the terminal carbons.

There has been a long-standing debate about the mechanism of the unusual superconductivity in alkali-intercalated fullerides. In this Letter, using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we systematically investigate the electronic structures of superconducting K&#95;{3}C&#95;{60} thin films. We observe a dispersive energy band crossing the Fermi level with the occupied bandwidth of about 130 meV. The measured band structure shows prominent quasiparticle kinks and a replica band involving the Jahn-Teller active phonon modes, which reflects strong electron-phonon coupling in the system. The electron-phonon coupling constant is estimated to be about 1.2, which dominates the quasiparticle mass renormalization. Moreover, we observe an isotropic nodeless superconducting gap beyond the mean-field estimation (2Δ/k&#95;{B}T&#95;{c}≈5). Both the large electron-phonon coupling constant and large reduced superconducting gap suggest a strong-coupling superconductivity in K&#95;{3}C&#95;{60}, while the electronic correlation effect is suggested by the observation of a waterfall-like band dispersion and the small bandwidth compared with the effective Coulomb interaction. Our results not only directly visualize the crucial band structure but also provide important insights into the mechanism of the unusual superconductivity of fulleride compounds.

A cobalt-catalyzed deuteration of amidoacrylates using deuterated methanol afforded α,β-dideuterio-α-amino esters in excellent enantiomeric ratios (mostly >95 : 5) and almost complete deuteration (99 %). The new protocol was used to prepare dideuterio-α-amino acid fragments in some drugs.
