【Objective】 The Barkol Lake Basin is located in the east of Xinjiang of China, and groundwater plays a pivotal role in supporting agriculture, livestock and other sectors in the region. This study aims to analyze the chemical characteristics and health risks associated with groundwater in the plain areas in the basin. 【Method】 The analysis utilized groundwater quality data collected in August 2022. Factors influencing groundwater chemistry were evaluated using ion ratio and saturation index methods. Groundwater quality and the associated health risks were assessed with the entropy weight water quality index method and a health risk assessment model. 【Result】 The groundwater in the study area is weakly alkaline, with low salinity and moderate hardness. Its hydrochemical profile is primarily of the HCO₃·SO₄-Ca·Na type. The chemical properties are predominantly influenced by rock weathering and cation exchange. In the region, 75.0% of the groundwater is deemed drinkable without treatment, 8.3% is of moderate quality, and 16.7% is undrinkable without further treatment. The non-carcinogenic health risk index for Na⁺ is the highest, with children facing a greater potential non-carcinogenic risk compared to adults. 【Conclusion】 Overall, groundwater quality in the area is satisfactory, though there are potential risks in the northern part of Bolqiangji Town. This analysis provides a baseline for ensuring the safe use of groundwater in the region.

【Objective】 This paper is to analyze the spatial change in groundwater quality and its determinants in irrigation areas in Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, in attempts to provide a baseline guidance for sustainable utilization of groundwater resources and alleviating groundwater pollution. 【Method】 The analysis was based on 1 292 groundwater quality measurement data, from which we analyzed the groundwater chemical composition and chemistry types using the descriptive statistical analysis method and the Piper trilinear diagram method. The groundwater quality was analyzed using the water quality index method, USSL diagram and Wilcox diagram; spatial variation in groundwater quality and its determinants were calculated using the Kriging interpolation, factor analysis and ion ratio methods. 【Result】 Groundwater quality in the gravelly inclined plain in front of the mountain was better than that in the fine soil plain in the middle and low reaches of the basin. Dissolution of rocks increased ion contents in the groundwater, and groundwater quality deteriorates gradually from the gravelly inclined plain to the fine soil plain. The soluble salt concentration of groundwater in irrigation areas was considerably high; ions in shallow groundwater precipitated due to evaporation, resulting in salt accumulation on the soil surface. The factors affecting groundwater quality are ranked in the order: single structured unconfined groundwater>confined groundwater>unconfined groundwater in confined area. 【Conclusion】 The groundwater quality in the irrigation areas was jointly affected by evaporation and mineral dissolution, the redox in original geology, and human activities, in addition to aquifer type, groundwater recharge-discharge, runoff and cation exchange.

【Objective】 Groundwater is the most important water resource for many regions in Xinjiang province, and understanding its dynamics is hence a prerequisite to improve water management. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the spatiotemporal variation of groundwater table as well as its determinants in Shihezi-Changji, Xinjiang province. 【Method】 The analysis was based on date measured monthly from 2016 to 2020 from 44 boreholes in the region. These helped us to understand the driving forces of the groundwater changes, as well as local and regional groundwater flow. The relationship between groundwater change and its potential determinants were analyzed using the linear trend and gray relation methods. 【Result】 Hydraulically, the dynamics of shallow groundwater in the region is irrigation infiltration - exploitation and hydrological recharge - exploitation, whereas the dynamics of the confined groundwater was exploitation lacking noticeable recharge. The groundwater table in Shihezi City and Manas County has been rising rapidly, with the groundwater depth in the former and latter being 2~3 m and 3~4 m respectively. In contrast, the groundwater table in Hutubi County has dropped to more than 5 m deep. The groundwater level in Changji city does not show noticeable change with its depth being 2~3 m. The groundwater rise in south of Shihezi city and Manas County was due to rebound, as opposed to that in the north where there was a groundwater depression cone. The continuous dropping in groundwater table in Hutubi County was due to both. The change in groundwater table in Changji City was mainly due to river recharge. 【Conclusion】 The change in shallow groundwater was induced by alteration of agricultural lands, groundwater extraction and surface water recharge, whereas that of confined groundwater was mainly caused by groundwater extraction.

Continuous trailing-edge flap has many advantages over conventional discrete flap in helicopter rotor vibration reduction applications, such as light weight, compact structure and stable airflow. Macro fiber composite is chosen as the actuating material. A blade section with a continuous trailing-edge flap is designed based on NACA23012 airfoil, and its materials are selected and analyzed. The influence of continuous trailing-edge flap on airfoil aerodynamic characteristics is analyzed by fluid-solid coupling method. Results show that continuous trailing-edge flap can output sufficient deflection under the working conditions of helicopter blade, including angle of attack as well as Mach number, and improve aerodynamic lift and moment of the blade profile significantly, which demonstrates the potential value of continuous trailing-edge flap in rotor vibration reduction applications.

To study the status and influencing factors of groundwater organic pollution around the Bosten Lake area (Kaidu River-Kongque River Basin), Xinjiang, China, the pollution index method was applied to 82 groundwater samples and 15 lake water samples for comprehensive pollution evaluation. Results showed that the detection rates of organic pollutants in groundwater and lake water samples in the study area are 24.4% and 6.7%, respectively, but all the water samples have concentrations of organic pollutants less than the standard water quality limits. There are 11 unpolluted groundwater samples, 8 mildly polluted groundwater samples and one mid-polluted groundwater sample, accounting for 13.4%, 9.8% and 1.2% of total groundwater samples, respectively. The detection points of groundwater organic pollutants in the study area are mainly distributed in the piedmont plain area in the northern Yanqi Basin, the Yanqi County and the northwestern plain area of Bosten Lake. Some points sporadically distributed in the urban area in Korla. Groundwater organic pollution around the Bosten Lake area is mainly affected by industrial pollution, agricultural pollution, domestic pollution, vadose zone lithology, surface water quality and land utilization type.

Test results on 302 shallow groundwater samples in an oasis zone in the southern margin of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang were collected and analysed for a large number of chemical parameters and subjected to mathematical statistics methods. Results show that groundwater with high arsenic, fluorine and iodine concentrations were mainly distributed in the Minfeng County in the central part of the study area. Shallow groundwater in the southern margin of the entire Tarim Basin generally had high fluorine concentrations. The distribution of arsenic and fluorine in groundwater were similar. Intensive evaporation under the arid climatatic condition was an important factor for the enrichment of arsenic, fluorine and iodine in groundwater.

The hydrochemistry and isotope characteristics of groundwater of different geomorphological types in the Kashgar Delta in Xinjiang, China were studied using isotopic analyses. Results showed that groundwater in the study area was mainly recharged by precipitation, and that groundwater ions were mainly affected by weathering-leaching of rock salt and evaporite as well as cation exchange and adsorption. The hydrochemical type of phreatic water in the alluvial-proluvial gravel plain on the piedmont slope was mainly SO4·Cl-Na·Ca type, with an average age of 28a. The phreatic water in the fluvial plain had shallow buried depth and intense evaporation. The hydrochemical type of phreatic water varied from SO4·Cl-Na·Mg type to Cl-Na type, with an average age of 99a. Along the groundwater flow path eastward, confined water in the fluvial plain experienced gradually more intense cation exchange and stronger adsorption. The major hydrochemical type of which was the SO4·Cl-Na type, with an average age of 30405a.

In this study, 1165 surface soil samples for heavy metal analysis were collected in the Yutian County, Xinjiang, China. The factors that influence the spatial distribution of heavy metal elements in soils in the study area were analyzed by means of multivariate statistical analysis, geostatistics, spatial autocorrelation, spatial analysis and GIS technology. Results show that among 1165 soil samples, three of which had As contents greater than the risk screening values. The theoretical models for variation function of Cd and Pb were exponential model, while the theoretical models for variation function of Hg, As, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn were spherical model. Nugget value of Cd was less than 25%, indicated a relatively strong spatial correlation. Nugget value of other elements ranged between 25% and 50%, indicated significant spatial correlations. The spatial autocorrelation Moran's I index of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County was greater than 0. There was a positive spatial correlation distribution in the county scale. The spatial distribution of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County showed a general decreasing trend from the center of the study area to surrounding areas. Distribution of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County varied in different parent materials, soil types and land use patterns. Hg, As, Pb, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn in soil derived from the same source, contents of which were affected by soil texture.

Study on regional distribution of high-fluorine groundwater will help to understand migration and transformation of fluorine, and provide the theoretical basis of low-fluorine groundwater exploration in high-fluorine groundwater areas. Objective: To compare the accuracy and safety of implanting cervical pedicle screws (CPS) between orthopedic surgical robot-assisted technique and traditional fluoroscopy-assisted free-hand technique. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 95 patients treated with posterior cervical spinal surgery using either Tianji orthopedic surgical robot-assisted or traditional fluoroscopy-assisted free-hand pedicle screw implantation technology from March 2021 to March 2024, including 44 cases in the orthopedic surgical robot group and 51 cases in the traditional fluoroscopy group. Results: Compared with the traditional fluoroscopy group, the orthopedic surgical robot group had better accuracy in screw implantation that is, a higher acceptable rate of screws (p = 0.0083). In addition, compared with the traditional fluoroscopy group, postoperative hospital stay was shorter in the orthopedic surgical robot group (p = 0.0447), but operation duration was longer (p = 0.0038). There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss between groups (p = 0.0872). There were 2 cases of cerebrospinal fluid leakage and 1 case of decreased left handgrip strength in the traditional fluoroscopy group, while only 1 case of cerebrospinal fluid leakage occurred in the orthopedic surgical robot group. Conclusions: In this retrospective study, the accuracy of spine surgery with CPS implantation assisted by orthopedic surgical robot is often superior to that of spine surgery using traditional fluoroscopy-guided CPS implantation technique, while maintaining comparable safety.
