Dynamics of high energy scattering in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) are primarily probed through detector energy flow correlations. One important example is the Energy-Energy Correlator (EEC), whose back-to-back limit probes correlations of QCD on the lightcone and can be described by a transverse-momentum dependent factorization formula in the leading power approximation. In this work, we develop a systematic method to go beyond this approximation. We identify the origin of logarithmically enhanced contributions in the back-to-back limit as the exchange of operators with low twists and large spins in the local operator product expansion. Using techniques from the conformal bootstrap, the large logarithms beyond leading power can be resummed to all orders in the perturbative coupling. As an illustration of this method, we perform an all-order resummation of the leading and next-to-leading logarithms beyond the leading power in N = 4 Super Yang-Mills theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we calculate analytically the perturbative matching coefficients for unpolarized quark and gluon Transverse-Momentum-Dependent (TMD) Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) and Fragmentation Functions (FFs) through Next-to-Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order (N3LO) in QCD. The N3LO TMD PDFs are calculated by solving a system of differential equation of Feynman and phase space integrals. The TMD FFs are obtained by analytic continuation from space-like quantities to time-like quantities, taking into account the probability interpretation of TMD PDFs and FFs properly. The coefficient functions for TMD FFs exhibit double logarithmic enhancement at small momentum fraction z. We resum such logarithmic terms to the third order in the expansion of αs. The soft theorem states that scattering amplitude in gauge theory with a soft gauge-boson emission can be factorized into a hard scattering amplitude and a soft factor. In this paper, we present calculations of the soft factor for processes involving two hard colored partons, up to three loops in QCD. To accomplish this, we developed a systematic method for recursively calculating relevant Feynman integrals using the Feynman-Parameter representation. Our results constitute an important ingredient for the subtraction of infrared singularities at N4LO in perturbative QCD. Using the principle of leading transcendentality between QCD and N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory, we determine the soft factor in the latter case to three loops with full-color dependence. As a by-product, we also obtain the finite constant f 2 3 in the Bern-Dixon-Smirnov ansatz analytically, which was previously known numerically only. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Energy correlators measured inside high-energy jets at hadron colliders have recently been demonstrated to provide a new window into both perturbative and non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. A number of the most interesting features of these correlators, namely their universal scaling behavior and the ability to image the confinement transition, require precise angular resolution, necessitating the use of tracking information in experimental measurements. Theoretically, tracking information can be incorporated into the energy correlators using track functions, which are non-perturbative functions describing the fragmentation of quarks and gluons into charged hadrons. In this paper, we apply our recently developed track function formalism to energy correlators, and study in detail the interplay of track functions with perturbative resummation and non-perturbative power corrections. We provide resummed results for the energy correlators at collinear next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy and compare with parton shower Monte Carlo simulations. For the two-point correlator the use of tracking has a minimal effect throughout the entire distribution, but it has a significant effect for higher point correlators. Jets and their substructure play a central role in many analyses at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To improve the precision of measurements, as well as to enable measurement of jet substructure at increasingly small angular scales, tracking information is often used due to its superior angular resolution and robustness to pile-up. Calculations of track-based observables involve non-perturbative track functions, that absorb infrared divergences in perturbative calculations and describe the transition to charged hadrons. The infrared divergences are directly related to the renormalization group evolution (RGE), and can be systematically computed in perturbation theory. Unlike the standard DGLAP evolution, the RGE of the track functions is non-linear, encoding correlations in the fragmentation process. We compute the next-to-leading order (NLO) evolution of the track functions, which involves in its kernel the full 1 → 3 splitting function. We discuss in detail how we implement the evolution equation numerically, and illustrate the size of the NLO corrections. We also show that our equation can be viewed as a master equation for collinear evolution at NLO, by illustrating that by integrating out specific terms, one can derive the evolution for any N -hadron fragmentation function. Our results provide a crucial ingredient for obtaining track-based predictions for generic measurements at the LHC, and for improving the description of the collinear dynamics of jets. Quantitative theoretical techniques for understanding the substructure of jets at the LHC enable new insights into the dynamics of QCD, and novel approaches to search for new physics. Recently, there has been a program to reformulate jet substructure in terms of correlation functions, E n → 1 E n → 2 ⋯ E n → k , of light-ray operators, E n → , allowing the application of techniques developed in the study of Conformal Field Theories (CFTs). In this paper we further develop these techniques in the particular context of the three-point correlator E n → 1 E n → 2 E n → 3 , using recently computed perturbative data in both QCD and N = 4 sYM. We derive the celestial blocks appearing in the light-ray operator product expansion (OPE) of the three-point correlator, and use the Lorentzian inversion formula to extract the spectrum of light-ray operators appearing in the expansion, showing, in particular, that the OPE data is analytic in transverse spin. Throughout our presentation, we highlight the relation between the OPE approach, and more standard splitting function based approaches of perturbative QCD, emphasizing the utility of the OPE approach for incorporating symmetries in jet substructure calculations. We hope that our presentation introduces a number of new techniques to the jet substructure community, and also illustrates the phenomenological relevance of the study of light-ray operators in the OPE limit to the CFT community. The microscopic dynamics of particle collisions is imprinted into the statistical properties of asymptotic energy flux, much like the dynamics of inflation is imprinted into the cosmic microwave background. This energy flux is characterized by correlation functions E n → 1 ⋯ E n → k of energy flow operators E n → . There has been significant recent progress in studying energy flux, including the calculation of multi-point correlation functions and their direct measurement inside high-energy jets at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In this paper, we build on these advances by defining a notion of "celestial non-gaussianity" as a ratio of the three-point function to a product of two-point functions. We show that this celestial non-gaussianity is under perturbative control within jets at the LHC, allowing us to cleanly access the non-gaussian interactions of quarks and gluons. We find good agreement between perturbative calculations of the non-gaussianity and a charged-particle-based analysis using CMS Open Data, and we observe a strong non-gaussianity peaked in the "flattened triangle" regime. The ability to robustly study three-point correlations is a significant step in advancing our understanding of jet substructure at the LHC. We anticipate that the celestial non-gaussianity, and its generalizations, will play an important role in the development of higher-order parton showers simulations and in the hunt for ever more subtle signals of potential new physics within jets. Track functions describe the collective effect of the fragmentation of quarks and gluons into charged hadrons, making them a key ingredient for jet substructure measurements at hadron colliders, where track-based measurements offer superior angular resolution. The first moment of the track function, describing the average energy deposited in charged particles, is a simple and well-studied object. However, measurements of higher-point correlations of energy flow necessitate a characterization of fluctuations in the hadronization process, described theoretically by higher moments of the track function. In this paper we derive the structure of the renormalization group (RG) evolution equations for track function moments. We show that energy conservation gives rise to a shift symmetry that allows the evolution equations to be written in terms of cumulants, κ(N), and the difference between the first moment of quark and gluon track functions, ∆. The uniqueness of the first three cumulants then fixes their all-order evolution to be DGLAP, up to corrections involving powers of ∆, that are numerically suppressed by an effective order in the perturbative expansion for phenomenological track functions. However, at the fourth cumulant and beyond there is non-trivial RG mixing into products of cumulants such as κ(4) into κ(2)2. We analytically compute the evolution equations up to the sixth moment at O ( α s 2 ), and study the associated RG flows. These results allow for the study of up to six-point correlations in energy flow using tracks, paving the way for precision jet substructure at the LHC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Finding an efficient and compelling regularization of soft and collinear degrees of freedom at the same invariant mass scale, but separated in rapidity is a persistent problem in high-energy factorization. In the course of a calculation, one encounters divergences unregulated by dimensional regularization, often called rapidity divergences. Once regulated, a general framework exists for their renormalization, the rapidity renormalization group (RRG), leading to fully resummed calculations of transverse momentum (to the jet axis) sensitive quantities. We examine how this regularization can be implemented via a multi-differential factorization of the soft-collinear phase-space, leading to an (in principle) alternative non-perturbative regularization of rapidity divergences. As an example, we examine the fully-differential factorization of a color singlet's momentum spectrum in a hadron-hadron collision at threshold. We show how this factorization acts as a mother theory to both traditional threshold and transverse momentum resummation, recovering the classical results for both resummations. Examining the refactorization of the transverse momentum beam functions in the threshold region, we show that one can directly calculate the rapidity renormalized function, while shedding light on the structure of joint resummation. Finally, we show how using modern bootstrap techniques, the transverse momentum spectrum is determined by an expansion about the threshold factorization, leading to a viable higher loop scheme for calculating the relevant anomalous dimensions for the transverse momentum spectrum. The soft emission factor is a central ingredient in the factorization of generic n-particle gauge theory amplitudes with one soft gluon in the external state. We present the complete two-loop soft factor, capturing the leading power behavior in the soft-gluon momentum. At two loops, the color structure and the kinematic dependence of the soft factor become nontrivial as the soft gluon can couple to three hard partons for the first time (tripole terms). The nontrivial kinematic dependence of the tripole terms is of uniform, maximal transcendental weight, and can be expressed (in a "Euclidean" region) in terms of single-valued harmonic polylogarithms. Our results are consistent with the behavior of the recently computed symbol of the two-loop five-particle amplitude in N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory. In the limit where the outgoing soft gluon is also collinear with an incoming hard parton, potentially dangerous factorization-violating terms can arise. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There has been recent interest in understanding the all loop structure of the subleading power soft and collinear limits, with the goal of achieving a systematic resummation of subleading power infrared logarithms. Most of this work has focused on subleading power corrections to soft gluon emission, whose form is strongly constrained by symmetries. In this paper we initiate a study of the all loop structure of soft fermion emission. In N = 1 QCD we perform an operator based factorization and resummation of the associated infrared logarithms using the formalism introduced in [1], and prove that they exponentiate into a Sudakov due to their relation to soft gluon emission. We verify this result through explicit calculation to O α s 3 . We show that in QCD, this simple Sudakov exponentiation is violated by endpoint contributions proportional to (CA−CF)n which contribute at leading logarithmic order. Combining our N = 1 result and our calculation of the endpoint contributions to O α s 3 , we conjecture a result for the soft quark Sudakov in QCD, a new all orders function first appearing at subleading power, and give evidence for its universality. Our result, which is expressed in terms of combinations of cusp anomalous dimensions in different color representations, takes an intriguingly simple form and also exhibits interesting similarities to results for large-x logarithms in the off diagonal splitting functions. Abstract The transverse momentum (p T) distribution of Higgs bosons at hadron colliders enables a detailed probe of its production dynamics and is a key ingredient to precision studies of Higgs boson properties, but receives very large QCD corrections. We obtain a precision prediction for the p T spectrum by matching second-order (NNLO) QCD corrections at large p T with resummation of third-order logarithmic (N3LL) corrections at small p T. We achieve significantly improved results for p T < 35 GeV with perturbative uncertainties ≲ ± 6 % , and thus a convergent perturbative series for all values of p T. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Charged gauge boson production at hadron colliders is a fundamental benchmark for the extraction of electroweak parameters and the understanding of the proton structure. To enable precision phenomenology for this process, we compute the third-order (N 3 LO) QCD corrections to the rapidity distribution and charge asymmetry in W boson production and to the transverse mass distribution of its decay products. Our results display substantial QCD corrections in kinematic regions relevant for Tevatron and LHC measurements. We compare the numerical magnitude of the N 3 LO corrections with uncertainties from electroweak input parameters and illustrate their potential impact on the determination of the W boson mass. Energy Correlators measure the energy deposited in multiple detectors as a function of the angles between the detectors. In this paper, we analytically compute the three particle correlator in the collinear limit in QCD for quark and gluon jets, and also in N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory. We find an intriguing duality between the integrals for the energy correlators and infrared finite Feynman parameter integrals, which maps the angles of the correlators to dual momentum variables. In N = 4, we use this duality to express our result as a rational sum of simple Feynman integrals (triangles and boxes). In QCD our result is expressed as a sum of the same transcendental functions, but with more complicated rational functions of cross ratio variables as coefficients. Our results represent the first analytic calculation of a three-prong jet substructure observable of phenomenological relevance for the LHC, revealing unexplored simplicity in the energy flow of QCD jets. We revisit the calculation of perturbative quark transverse momentum de- pendent parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions using the exponential regulator for rapidity divergences. We show that the exponential regulator provides a consistent framework for the calculation of various ingredients in transverse momentum dependent factorization. Compared to existing regulators in the literature, the exponential regulator has a couple of advantages which we explain in detail. As a result, the calcula- tion is greatly simplified and we are able to obtain the next-to-next-to-leading order results up to O(E2) in dimensional regularization. These terms are necessary for a higher order calculation which is made possible with the simplification brought by the new regulator. As a by-product, we have obtained the two-loop quark jet function for the Energy-Energy Correlator in the back-to-back limit, which is the last missing ingredient for its N3LL resummation. We continue the study of power corrections for N -jettiness subtractions by analytically computing the complete next-to-leading power corrections at Oαs for colorsinglet production. This includes all nonlogarithmic terms and all partonic channels for Drell-Yan and gluon-fusion Higgs production. These terms are important to further improve the numerical performance of the subtractions, and to better understand the structure of power corrections beyond their leading logarithms, in particular their universality. We emphasize the importance of computing the power corrections differential in both the invariant mass, Q, and rapidity, Y, of the color-singlet system, which is necessary to account for the rapidity dependence in the subtractions. This also clarifies apparent disagreements in the literature. Performing a detailed numerical study, we find excellent agreement of our analytic results with a previous numerical extraction. We present the first calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading order threshold soft function for top quark pair production at hadron colliders, with full velocity dependence of the massive top quarks. Our results are fully analytic, and can be entirely written in terms of generalized polylogarithms. The scale-dependence of our result coincides with the well-known two-loop anomalous dimension matrix including the three-parton correlations, which at the two-loop order only appear when more than one massive partons are involved in the scattering process. In the boosted limit, our result exhibits the expected factorization property of mass logarithms, which leads to a consistent extraction of the soft fragmentation function. The next-to-next-to-leading order soft function obtained in this paper is an important ingredient for threshold resummation at the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy.
