In silicon-based hybrid anodes, the uniform hybridization of silicon with conducting/buffering matrices is very critical in achieving desirable lithium storage performance. Herein, a cyanosol-derived electrostatic assembly and pyrolysis route has been developed to construct homogeneous silicon/metal/carbon (Si/M/C) ternary materials. Specifically, Si nanoparticles surrounded by ultrafine FeCo alloy are uniformly anchored on graphene (G), yielding a Si/FeCo/G nanohybrid. The incorporation of M/C dual matrices, with ultrafine alloy nanocrystals evenly distributed on graphene, into silicon could be responsible for the improved structural stability and charge-transport capability of the ternary anode. As a result, the Si/FeCo/G nanohybrid manifests good cycling stability (1426 mA h g−1 after 100 cycles at 0.5 A g−1) and high rate performance (1266 and 1118 mA h g−1 at 5 and 10 A g−1, respectively). Non‐invasive and rapid imaging technique at subcellular resolution is significantly important for multiple biological applications such as cell fate study. Label‐free refractive‐index (RI)‐based 3D tomographic imaging constitutes an excellent candidate for 3D imaging of cellular structures, but its full potential in long‐term spatiotemporal cell fate observation is locked due to the lack of an efficient integrated system. Here, a long‐term 3D RI imaging system incorporating a cutting‐edge white light diffraction phase microscopy module with spatiotemporal stability, and an acoustofluidic device to roll and culture single cells in a customized live cell culture chamber is reported. Using this system, 3D RI imaging experiments are conducted for 250 cells and demonstrate efficient cell identification with high accuracy. Importantly, long‐term and frequency‐on‐demand 3D RI imaging of K562 and MCF‐7 cancer cells reveal different characteristics during normal cell growth, drug‐induced cell apoptosis, and necrosis of drug‐treated cells. Overall, it is believed that the proposed 3D tomographic imaging technique opens up a new avenue for visualizing intracellular structures and will find many applications such as disease diagnosis and nanomedicine. As a label-free and high-throughput single cell analysis platform, impedance flow cytometry (IFC) suffers from clogging caused by a narrow microchannel as mechanical constriction (MC). Current sheath constriction (SC) solutions lack systematic evaluation of the performance and proper guidelines for the sheath fluid. Herein, we hypothesize that the viscosity of the non-conductive liquid is the key to the performance of SC, and propose to employ non-conductive viscous sheath flow in SC to unlock the tradeoff between sensitivity and throughput, while ensuring measurement accuracy. By placing MC and SC in series in the same microfluidic chip, we established an evaluation platform to prove the hypothesis. Through modeling analysis and experiments, we confirmed the accuracy (error < 1.60% ± 4.71%) of SC w.r.t. MC, and demonstrated that viscous non-conductive PEG solution achieved an improved sensitivity (7.92×) and signal-to-noise ratio (1.42×) in impedance measurement, with the accuracy maintained and free of clogging. Viscous SC IFC also shows satisfactory ability to distinguish different types of cancer cells and different subtypes of human breast cancer cells. As the rapid development of internationalization in Chinese higher education, the number and scale of international scholars working in China has significantly increased. However, few studies have focused on international scholars' cross-cultural encounters in the Chinese academic context. Based on 21 in-depth interviews, this article investigates international scholars' subjective experiences in a cross-cultural setting through Bourdieu's conceptual lens. After presenting an overview of participants' major motivations for working in China, we find their vague and idealistic expectations engendered "false anticipation" of their possible career future in China, which left some of them unprepared to experience a sense of misfit when entering the new field of Chinese academia. Moreover, we identify the dual habitus–field disjunctures emerging from participants' perceptions of misfit in the cross-cultural scenario, namely explicit disjuncture and implicit disjuncture, which reveal the underlying reasons for mismatch between international scholars' previously generated habitus and the new field of Chinese universities. Flexible sensing technology has shown great application value in motion monitoring and physiological signal detection. In many applications, the detected signal has the characteristics of low strength and wide range, thus improving the sensitivity and measurement range of sensors becomes extremely important. An enhancing method based on folding structure is proposed in this paper. Through the analysis of folding structure characteristics, the theoretical model of the folding structure effect in flexible sensors is established and the enhancement effect of sensitivity and measurement range is testified through three kinds of commonly used sensors, resistive, capacitive, and inductive sensors. Through changing the number of folding units, the sensitivity and measurement range of sensors can achieve to be adjusted. Folding sensors also have good hysteresis and repeatability properties and show the great performance in the application of human motion monitoring, such as limbs bending and rotating, muscle powering. The proposed method has the characteristics of simple, economical, environment friendly, and widely suitable, meanwhile avoiding the complexity of other ways to improve performance. This work has potential to enhance the sensitivity and measurement range for more kinds of flexible sensors and is of great value to fabricate high performance sensors based on folding structure. G16 was isolated with nitrification-denitrification ability. • Efficient removal of inorganic nitrogen at 15℃-30℃ under aerobic conditions. • No accumulation of NO 2 –-N was detected during nitrogen removal. • The nitrogen removal rate of immobilized pellets was increased by about 20%. From the aerobic pond of the farm, the Pseudomonas sp. G16 was screened and isolated, which was confirmed to exhibit heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification. The removal rates of Ammonia (100 mg/L), nitrate (120 mg/L), and nitrite (100 mg/L) by the strain were 94.13%, 92.62%, and 85.67%, and the nitrogen metabolism pathway of strain G16 was analyzed by whole genome sequencing combined with its nitrification-denitrification intermediate products, it was found that the strain had independent nitrification-denitrification ability and no nitrite accumulation. Under the conditions of carbon source of sodium succinate hexahydrate, C/N ratio of 15, pH of 7.5, temperature of 15 °C, and DO of 210 rpm, strain G16 showed excellent denitrification performance. Strain G16 was prepared into biochar-based immobilized bacterial particles, which successfully improved its nitrogen removal efficiency and stability. Flexible paper-based force sensors have garnered significant attention for their important potential applications in healthcare wearables, portable electronics, etc. However, most studies have only used paper as the flexible substrate for sensors, not fully exploiting the potential of paper's micro-nanostructure for sensing. This article proposes a novel approach where paper serves both as the sensitive element and the flexible substrate of force sensors. Under external mechanical forces, the micro-nanostructure of the conductive-treated paper will change, leading to significant changes in the related electrical output and thus enabling sensing. To demonstrate the feasibility and universality of this new method, the article takes paper-based capacitive pressure sensors and paper-based resistive strain sensors as examples, detailing their fabrication processes, constructing sensing principle models based on the micro-nanostructure of paper materials, and testing their main sensing performance. For the capacitive paper-based pressure sensor, it achieves a high sensitivity of 1.623 kPa−1, a fast response time of 240 ms, and a minimum pressure resolution of 4.1 Pa. As for the resistive paper-based strain sensor, it achieves a high sensitivity of 72 and a fast response time of 300 ms. The proposed new method offers advantages such as high sensitivity, simplicity in the fabrication process, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness, providing new insights into the research of flexible force sensors. Designing a highly-active electro-Fenton (EF) catalytic membrane without the additional chemicals and iron sludge formation was a challenge for antibiotics treatment. In this study, we constructed Fe/N co-doping biochar (Fe-g-C 3 N 4 /biochar) based ultrafiltration membranes for degradation of tetracycline (a common antibiotic) and membrane fouling control under electro-assistance. The results showed that membranes presented high electro-Fenton catalytic activity because the presence of rich oxygen functional groups (high C–O/C O ratio) and nitrogen species (pyridinic N and pyrrolic N) promoted H 2 O 2 generation and accelerated Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle. Moreover, H 3 PO 4 activation of biochar endowed the EF catalytic membrane with higher electrocatalytic activity, while it was opposite using biochar with higher pyrolysis temperature (600–700 °C). In particular, owing to the oxidative degradation by electro-generated •OH and •O 2 −, Fe-g-C 3 N 4 /ABC-600/Graphite/PVDF (600 represented the pyrolysis temperature) membrane presented 100% tetracycline removal within 0.749 min of residence time, excellent self-cleaning performance (flux recovery = 100%) at neutral pH and low energy consumption (0.199 W h/L) for the reclamation of synthetic municipal wastewater effluent. In addition, membrane self-cleaning mechanism was closely related to the synergy between partial mineralization and reduced fouling potential of foulants. Besides, the EF membrane also exhibited good reusability and stability, which was promising to apply in antibiotics removal. Radiotherapy has shown measurable efficacy in breast cancer (BC). Elucidating the mechanisms and developing effective strategies against resistance, which is a major challenge, is crucial. Mitochondria, which regulate homeostasis of the redox environment, have emerged as a radiotherapeutic target. However, the mechanism via which mitochondria are controlled under radiation remains elusive. Here, we identified alpha-enolase (ENO1), as a prognostic marker for the efficacy of BC radiotherapy. ENO1 enhances radio-therapeutic resistance in BC via reducing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and apoptosis in vitro and in vivo through modulation of mitochondrial homeostasis. Moreover, LINC00663 was identified as an upstream regulator of ENO1, which regulates radiotherapeutic sensitivity by downregulating ENO1 expression in BC cells. LINC00663 regulates ENO1 protein stability by enhancing the E6AP-mediated ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. In BC patients, LINC00663 expression is negatively correlated with ENO1 expression. Among patients treated with IR, those who did not respond to radiotherapy expressed lower levels of LINC00663 than those sensitive to radiotherapy. Our work established LINC00663/ENO1 critical to regulate IR-resistance in BC. By following a recently published paper entitled "The effect of publishing a highly cited paper on a journal's impact factor: a case study of the Review of Particle Physics" in Learned Publishing, we argue that it is not suitable for journals to bid for the right to publish a review that is likely to be highly cited. • Defective UiO-66 based UF anodic membrane was fabricated for water reclamation. • The fabricated membrane has superior antibiotic removal and self-cleaning property. • New insights into the self-cleaning mechanism of anodic membrane were proposed. • The excellent electrochemical stability ensured the long-term membrane operation. In order to resolve the poor antibiotics rejection and serious fouling of ultrafiltration (UF) membrane during municipal wastewater reclamation, a novel anodic membrane (defective UiO-66 (D-UiO-66)/Graphite/Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)) with high pure water flux (596.1 L• h −1• m −2•bar−1) was fabricated by incorporating defective zirconium based metal-organic framework (D-UiO-66) and conductive graphite particles into PVDF matrix and applied in the coupling of electro-oxidation and membrane filtration process. Compared to the other anodic membranes (i.e., Graphite/PVDF and UiO-66/Graphite/PVDF), D-UiO-66/Graphite/PVDF possesses superior anti-fouling and self-cleaning abilities (flux recovery=100%, model foulant: bovine serum albumin) in both intermittent and continuous supply of electric field under current density of 0.01 mA/cm2; moreover, efficient antibiotics (tetracycline, norfloxacin, tylosin and sulfamethoxazole) removal (> 96.6%) and bactericidal efficiency against E. coli and S. aureus (100%) were achieved simultaneously without the addition of chemical reagents due to the higher electrocatalytic activity of anodic membrane for oxidation of pollutants by •OH and •O 2 – free radicals. Three degradation pathways of antibiotics were proposed and the self-cleaning mechanism of membrane was dominated by the synergy of the partial mineralization and the reduced fouling potential of foulants after oxidation as revealed by the increase in hydrophilicity, and decrease in negative charge and molecular weight. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the common malignant tumors in the head and neck, characterized by high malignancy, rapid growth and metastasis, high invasive ability, and high mortality. In recent years, surgery combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy remains the preferred clinical treatment for OSCC, despite considerable advances in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Hence, new targeted therapy is urgently needed. Histone modification affects the function of massive cells through histone acetyltransferase and histone deacetylase. Accompanied by the progress of some diseases, especially tumors, these proteins often show abnormal functions, and by reversing these abnormalities with drugs or gene therapy, the cancer phenotype can even be restored to normal. As a result, they are potential drug targets. This article reviewed the role of the histone dynamic process of acetylation modifications and their associated active modifying enzymes in the pathogenesis and progress of OSCC. Heterostructures endow electrochemical hybrids with promising energy storage properties owing to synergistic effects and interfacial interaction. However, developing a facile but effective approach to maximize interface effects is crucial but challenging. Herein, a bimetallic selenide heterostructure is realized in a confined carbon network via an in situ electrochemical strategy to induce highly active and stable electrode architecture. The dynamically formed heterostructures upon repeated delithiation/lithiation process not only yield abundant interconnected SnSe2/FeSe2 heterojunctions with continuous channels for ion/electron transfer but maintain excellent conversion reversibility. Serving as anode for lithium storage, the SnSe2/FeSe2@C framework enables a high discharging capacity of 1781.9 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 after 500 cycles and superior cycling stability (no capacity fade after 1200 cycles at 2 A g−1). This study can guide future design protocols for interface engineering through the formation of dynamic channels of conversion reaction kinetics for potential applications in high‐performance electrodes. In this work, SiC np /Al6082 aluminum matrix composites were prepared by squeeze casting (SC) combined with stir casting, and the effects of nano-sized SiC particles (SiC np) and SC on microstructure and mechanical properties of the 6082 aluminum alloy were investigated. The result shows that the SiC np were uniformly distributed in the 6082 aluminum matrix alloy using the stir casting. With the addition of the SiC np , the microstructure of the 6082 aluminum alloy was obviously refined, up to 30.55% grain refinement compared to the 6082 aluminum alloy without the addition of the SiC np. The as-cast ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the SiC np /Al6082 aluminum matrix composites were enhanced, which increased by 8.92%, 12.16%, and 12.60%, respectively, compared with the 6082 matrix alloy without the SiC np. After the SC, the compactness of the SiC np /Al6082 composites was significantly improved, and the grain of the composites was further refined. The ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the SiC np /Al6082 composites fabricated by the SC respectively increased by 29.81%, 43.18%, and 226.28%, compared to the 6082 aluminum alloy obtained by gravity casting (GC). This work presents a study of late Quaternary activity on the Jinta Nanshan Fault (JTF), to constrain its properties including seismic hazard, and to understand the tectonic evolution of the northern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. The JTF has developed during northeastward growth of the Qilian fold-and-thrust belt and eastward growth of the Altyn Tagh Fault. Based on remotely-sensed image interpretation and field investigation, trench studies, high-resolution terrain construction and Optical Stimulated Luminescence dating, we study the fault geometry and slip motion, and constrain the slip rate and the latest earthquake for the JTF. The JTF continues as far southeast as the Heihe River and shows predominantly left-lateral strike-slip displacement. The left-lateral slip rate is 0.27–0.48 mm/yr since late Pleistocene, much larger than the vertical slip rate of 0.05 ± 0.01 mm/yr. The latest rupture event of the JTF is slightly before 1 ka, which could be related to the poorly-recorded 756 CE earthquake in Hexi Corridor, and is also associated with fresh offset during this earthquake in the geomorphology of the east segment of the JTF. Strike-slip offset in this earthquake is estimated as 3.2 ± 0.4 m, with a rupture length of at least ∼13 km, indicating a moment magnitude of 6.4–7.2. We estimate the recurrence interval as 8–13 ka, based on the size of the latest offset and the slip rate of 0.27–0.48 mm/yr. These results indicate that the strike-slip continuation of the Altyn Tagh Fault dominates the slip behaviour of the JTF. The small strike-slip rate, and the match between the strike-slip of the JTF and the vertical slip of the North-South Normal Faults (NSF) at its eastern end, permit the interpretation that the slip of Altyn Tagh Fault is completely accommodated by crustal extension at the NSF, and dies out at the eastern end of the Jinta Nanshan region. • The Jintan Nanshan Fault exhibits left-lateral slip at a rate of 0.27–0.48 mm/yr. • The latest earthquake on JTF is the 756 CE Zhangye-Jiuquan earthquake. • The Altyn Tagh Fault terminates at eastern end of the Jinta Nanshan. • Both the Altyn Tagh Fault and the Qilian fold-and-thrust belt contribute to the kinematics of the Jinta Nanshan. Abstract: As an important part of economical society, colleges and universities have been shouldering the important task of education, science research and social service. In this paper, a detailed investigation in the form of questionnaire was carried out for the energy consumption of colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, including electricity, water, gas and cooling energy consumption from 2006 to 2010. The energy meter reading modes, energy conversation investment amount and energy-efficiency retrofit work were also reported and analyzed. Furthermore, as can be concluded from the survey, there exists great difference in per unit energy consumption between different types of universities classified by schools’ discipline, nature and level, which would be taken into account when the energy consumption evaluation indexes system is established. Although energy-saving measures at Guangdong's colleges and universities bear fruit, Guangdong's colleges and universities still have great potential of energy conservation and emission reduction by Conservation-oriented campus construction, and the government should increase funding and improve economic policy to encourage and support energy saving for colleges and universities. In the present work, a novel Ni-Cu composite interlayer was prepared on the surface of A356 aluminum alloy solid insert using the chemical nickel-plating and electro-coppering technology, in order to restrain the generation of brittle phases and enhance the shear strength of A356 aluminum/AZ91D magnesium bimetal manufactured using a compound casting. The effect of the Ni-Cu composite interlayer on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the bimetal was studied. The results show that the Ni-Cu composite interlayer effectively restrained the generation of the brittle and hard Al-Mg intermetallic compounds (IMCs). The interface layer of the A356/AZ91D bimetal without Ni-Cu composite interlayer was composed of Al 3 Mg 2 , Al 12 Mg 17 , δ-Mg and Mg 2 Si phases, while the interfacial reactants of the A356/AZ91D bimetal with Ni-Cu composite interlayer were mainly Al 3 Ni, Ni (Cu), Cu (Ni), Mg 2 Cu and Al 7 Cu 3 Mg 6 phases. With the application of the Ni-Cu composite interlayer, the thickness of the interface of the A356/AZ91D bimetal remarkably decreased from 1400 μm of the sample without Ni-Cu composite interlayer to 40 μm. The shear strength of the A356/AZ91D bimetal using Ni-Cu composite interlayer increased by 20.3 % compared with that of the bimetal without Ni-Cu composite interlayer. The fractures of the A356/AZ91D bimetals with and without Ni-Cu composite interlayers belonged to a brittle rupture mode. The breakage of the bimetal with Ni-Cu composite interlayer mainly took place between the Ni-Cu layer and AZ91D matrix, while the rupture of the A356/AZ91D bimetal without Ni-Cu composite interlayer was located in the interface layer. The Cu(Ni) and Ni(Cu) layers had a lower nano-hardness than the Al-Mg IMCs, and the elasticity modulus for the Cu(Ni), Ni(Cu) and Al 3 Ni phases were higher compared to those of the Al-Mg IMCs. The results of corrosion test exhibited that the Ni-Cu composite interlayer had little influence on the corrosion resistance of the A356/AZ91D bimetal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
