Abstract

Exact solutions of a classical problem of a plane unsteady potential flow of an ideal incompressible fluid with a free boundary are presented. The fluid occupies a semi-infinite strip bounded by the free surface (from above) and (from the sides) by two solid vertical walls approaching each other with a constant velocity. The solutions are obtained for a situation where the capillary and gravity forces are absent, and the fluid motion is completely determined by the motion of the walls. The solutions contain an arbitrary function, which allows one to describe the nonlinear evolution of perturbations of an arbitrary shape for an initially flat horizontal surface of the fluid. Examples of exact solutions corresponding to the formation of bubbles, cuspidal points, and droplets are considered.

Abstract

The influence of the characteristics of external finishing coatings on the humidity regime in walls made of aerated concrete grades D350-D500 for buildings located in the geographic subregion of Northeast Asia has been assessed. The temperature of the onset of condensation has been determined depending on the type of finishing layer. The amount of condensed moisture in the fence in winter is calculated. The humidity regime in the walls was compared for the conditions of the Russian cities of Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, as well as for cities located in China close to the border with Russia - Beijing and Harbin. It has been established that the humidity regime of walls made of aerated concrete grades D350-D500, for the considered cities of China, to a greater extent, in comparison with the considered cities of Russia, depends on the characteristics of the external finishing coating.

29. Impact of optimized pest control schemes on mandarin yield in the Republic of Abkhazia

Abstract

Pests of mandarin reduce significantly crop productivity and commercial quality of the crop in Abkhazia. We assessed the impact of optimized mandarin pest control schemes on fruit size and crop yield in the humid subtropics of Abkhazia. The studies were carried out in 2019-2020 on full-aged plantings of cv. Unshiu mandarin in Gulrypsh district of Republic of Abkhazia on the base of Institute of agriculture of Academy of sciences of Abkhazia. The highest yield and quality of fruits was shown by the protection schemes in variants 5 (Confidor extra (0.05 %) + Cytovit (0.15 %) – the 1st treatment Vertimec (0.1%) + Cytovit (0.15 %) – the second treatment; the third and fourth treatments Karate Zeon (0.05 %) + Cytovit (0.15 %)) and 6 (Metomax (0.15 %) + Vertimec (0.1 %) – the 1st treatment; Karate Zeon (0.05 %) + Vertimec (0.1 %) in the other three treatments). The average fruits weight in these variants was up to 72-74 g. This exceeded the fruits weight in the Standard variant by 22.0-25.4 %. The yield was 46.2-44.7 t/ha, which is 36.8-41.3 % higher than the standard variant. Fruits of the 1st grade in the named variants accounted for 63.3-65.6 % of the total yield.

Abstract

A moderately thermophilic Gram-positive chemo-organotrophic bacterium, strain SP2, was isolated by serial dilutions with crotonate and yeast extract as substrates from a butyrate-degrading methanogenic enrichment obtained from thermophilically digested sludge of the Kuryanoskaya wastewater treatment plant (Moscow, Russia). Cells of strain SP2 are spore-forming rods, sometimes occurring in short chains. The bacterium is an obligate anaerobe that grows at temperatures from 20 to 70 °C (55–60 °C optimum) within a pH range of 3.5–8 (7.5 optimum) and with NaCl concentrations of up to 2.5%. The strain utilized yeast extract and simple sugars as carbon and energy sources. Thiosulfate was used as an electron acceptor when grown on sucrose, resulting in the formation of hydrogen sulfide and the accumulation of elemental sulfur globules inside the cells. Strain SP2 is phylogenetically related to Biomaibacter acetigenes strain SK-G1T as revealed by comparison with the 16S rRNA gene (99.9% identity) and genome (ANI 99%, dDDH 90%) of both strains. It is interesting that strain SP2 was capable of syntrophic conversion of glycerol and lactate when co-cultivated with hydrogenotrophic methanogen, which was not previously shown for the SK-G1T type of strain. The isolation and in-depth study of new facultatively syntrophic microorganisms is important for wastewater treatment ecotechnologies due to their ability to switch to an alternative source of carbon and energy and therefore greater resistance to changing environmental conditions in bioreactors. Abstract

Energy driven technologies and enhanced per-capita waste production have led to the establishment of novel technologies to simultaneously produce fuels as well as treat the wastes. Anaerobic digestion is cost-effective and sustainable process to produce biogas. Biogas is a mixture of CO2, CH4, H2S, is an eco-friendly and inexpensive renewable biofuel. This mixture of gases restricts biogas utilization in vehicular fuel, CHPs, therefore, biogas upgradation becomes a necessary step. Conventional upgradation technologies for example water scrubbing, physical adsorption, chemical adsorption, amine scrubbing, etc. are cost intensive and require high maintenance. Novel technologies like biological methods of biogas upgradation are being investigated and new improvements are made in the conventional methods. This review aims to give a close insight about various technologies of upgradation including, pressure swing, amine scrubbing, membrane separation, cryogenic separation, biological methods, etc., along with the major challenges and limitations.
