The study included 40 strains of Malassezia pachydermatis obtained in pure culture from external ear canal of dogs and the reference strain. Protein fractions were received by mechanical disruption of the fungal cells. Denaturing protein electrophoresis was performed according to Laemmli method. More than 90% of the all tested strains were characterised by the presence of the following protein fractions: 83.0; 77.0; 59.0; 55.0; 48.0; 38.0; 35.0; 28.0, and 27.0 kDa. In other regions of electrophoregrams, a relatively high differentiation was observed. The strains isolated from animals with otitis externa were characterised by the presence of the following protein fractions: 75.0; 61.0; 52.0; 36.0; 19.5; 16.0; 13.8, and 13.0 kDa. These fractions were absent in the commensal strains. The use of statistical analysis confirmed the obtained results and allowed to generate dendrogram grouping potentially pathogenic and commensal strains on two different branches. Such results may indicate significant differences between protein profiles of strains of M. pachydermatis isolated from healthy and diseased animals.

The article provides information on a study which compared the resistance of Enterococcus spp. strains to antibacterial drugs in wild and exotic animals with strains originating in domesticated animals from eastern Poland. Topics covered include the correlations between Enterococcus species and the degree of resistance to selected antibiotics and the evolutionary character of the development of resistance.

Introduction: Aspergillosis is included in most often appearing mycotic infections of the respiratory system of birds. All species of poultry, ornamental bird and wild can be ill - particularly birds of prey kept in the captivity. Aim of study: Establishing the sensitivity of various species of the Aspergillus genus get from the poultry flocks to readily available drugs, as well as the attempt to determine their profiles of the resistance. Material and methods: Examinations included fungal isolates from the Aspergillus genus get from hens, turkeys, geese and ducks with clinical symptoms of aspergillosis about the diversified intensity. Aspergillus species sensitivity to antifungal drugs were determinate with Sabouraud glucose agar with disc diffusion method in the own modification. Results: We demonstrated, that irrespective of fungus species, the Aspergillus genus is marked by a high sensitivity on enilconazole and terbinafine and with resistance on 5-fluorocytosine, fluconazole, itraconazole and amphotericin B. Antifungal activity of remaining drugs, i.e. ketoconazole, miconazole, clotrimazole, pimaricin and tioconazole, are diversified and seem to depend on the Aspergillus species. Conclusions: An in vitro high antifungal drug resistance is characterizing Aspergillus species isolated from birds which the level seems to depend to some extent on species of the fungus.
