There is urgent need for an alternative effective and safe treatment for PCa.Methods: We developed a nanoplatform to target prostate cancer cells based on graphdiyne (GDY) and a copper-based metal-organic framework (GDY-CuMOF), that carries the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin (DOX) for cancer treatment. Moreover, to provide GDY-CuMOF@DOX with homotypic targeting capability, we coated the PCa cell membrane (DU145 cell membrane, DCM) onto the surface of GDY-CuMOF@DOX, thus obtaining a biomimetic nanoplatform (DCM@GDY-CuMOF@DOX). The nanoplatform was characterized by using transmission electron microscope, atomic force microscope, X-ray diffraction, etc. Drug release behavior, antitumor effects in vivo and in vitro, and biosafety of the nanoplatform were evaluated.Results: We found that GDY-CuMOF exhibited a remarkable capability to load DOX mainly through π-conjugation and pore adsorption, and it responsively released DOX and generated Cu+ in the presence of glutathione (GSH). In vivo experiments demonstrated that this nanoplatform exhibits remarkable cell-killing efficiency by generating lethal reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mediating cuproptosis. In addition, DCM@GDY-CuMOF@DOX effectively suppresses tumor growth in vivo without causing any apparent side effects.Conclusion: The constructed DCM@GDY-CuMOF@DOX nanoplatform integrates tumor targeting, drug-responsive release and combination with cuproptosis and chemodynamic therapy, offering insights for further biomedical research on efficient PCa treatment. Capsaicin is the pungent ingredient in chili peppers. Transient receptor potential vanilloid type1 is the capsaicin receptor expressed in the oral cavity and is the primary sensory neuron of the “pain” pathway. Few studies have examined the association between long-term spicy diet and chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP). Women who underwent elective cesarean section (eCS) have consistent characteristics of CPSP. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between a long-term spicy diet and the incidence of CPSP after eCS.Methods: Participants were divided into a low frequency group (LF, numerical rating scale (NRS)< 5) for spicy food consumption and a high frequency group (HF, NRS≥ 5) by receiver operator characteristic analysis. The primary outcome was the incidence of CPSP three months after eCS. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed between the two frequency groups. Stepwise logistic regression analysis was then performed.Results: Of the 1029 enrolled patients, data from 982 were analyzed 3 months after eCS. After PSM, the incidence of CPSP in the HF group (30.1% [108/359]) was higher than that in the LF group (19.8% [71/359]; P = 0.001). Compared with the LF group, the risk of CPSP in the HF group increased 1.61 times by 3 months (95% CI 1.18– 2.20, P = 0.003). PSM results found that 1 year, the incidence of CPSP in the HF group (15.2% [56/369]) was higher than that in the LF group (8.1% [30/369], P = 0.003).Conclusion: With an NRS≥ 5 as a boundary, women who consumed spicy food ≥ 2 days/week were more likely to have CPSP than those who consumed spicy food < 2 days/week.Keywords: long-term spicy diet, chronic postsurgical pain, capsaicin, TRPV1, cesarean section

Our study aims to identify new potential therapeutic targets in ACC.Patients and Methods: The core genes CDK1 and CCNB1 were previously screened using ACC data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) as the most relevant to Bclaf1 and tumour prognosis. We used siRNA- or shRNA-based models to explore the role of Bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1 (Bclaf1) in SW-13 cell lines. Western blotting and qPCR were used to determine the effects of Bclaf1 on CDK1 and Cyclin B1.Results: Based on biological information analysis, we found that Bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1 (Bclaf1) affected the progression of ACC and was associated with the cell cycle. Downregulated Bclaf1 expression inhibited the proliferation of SW-13 cells and affected the cell cycle process of SW-13 cells. BCLAF1 was correlated with CDK1 and CCNB1 and can regulate their mRNA and protein levels.Conclusion: Bclaf1 might promote the development of ACC by regulating CDK1 and Cyclin B1 to drive mitosis.Keywords: prognostic and predictive value, therapeutic targets, Bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1

Serum levels of cytokines, diamine oxidase, D-lactate, and endotoxin were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Immune cells from the mouse spleen and tumor tissue were analyzed by flow cytometry. Finally, 16S rRNA gene sequencing and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry were used to study the fecal microbiota and microbial metabolites, respectively.Results: The tumor growth was significantly lower in the FFD group than in the model group. The intestinal barrier function, fat mass, and lean body mass were significantly improved in the FFD group compared with the model group. The levels of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α were significantly lower in the FFD group, while the proportions of total T cells, CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+, and interferon-γ-producing CD4+ T cells were significantly higher. Analysis of the diversity of the gut microbiota identified 60 differential bacterial genera between the FFD and model groups, with lower abundances of Desulfovibrio and unclassified Ruminococcaceae and higher abundances of the beneficial bacterial genera Bacteroides and Parasutterella in the FFD group. The fecal metabolite analysis revealed 635 differential metabolites between the FFD and model groups, with lower levels of deuteroporphyrin IX and citrulline and higher levels of acetic acid and ascorbic acid in the FFD group.Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that the functional food tested can inhibit the growth of colorectal cancer. This effect may be due to the ability of this food to improve nutritional status, enhance intestinal barrier function, and regulate the tumor microenvironment via changes in the intestinal microbiota and metabolites.Keywords: functional food, tumor microenvironment, cancer nutrition, colorectal cancer, gut microbiota, metabolite

CCK-8, flow cytometry, Transwell, wound healing, Western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays were performed to evaluate the antitumor effect of CNPs toward the two kinds of prostate cancer cell lines PC3 and DU145.Results: Our results showed that CNPs inhibited cell growth, invasion, and migration and induced apoptosis and autophagy in PCa cells. Multifactor detection of a single Akt phosphorylation pathway and Western blot results suggested the suppression of 4E-BP1 in PCa cells after incubation with CNPs. The results from animal experiments also suggested the antitumor effect of CNPs and reduced 4E-BP1 expression in PCa tissue samples from BALB/c nude mice administered a local subcutaneous injection of CNPs.Keywords: carbon nanosphere, prostate cancer, antitumor, 4E-BP1

This study aims to evaluate factors that affect LS among married women in rural China.Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in rural Liaoning Province in China, in 2015. Out of 3,900 married women, 3,385 (86.8%) completed a questionnaire survey. LS was assessed using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), with 35 as the maximal possible score. Stress (quantified by the Perceived Stress Scale [PSS]), resilience (assessed by the Ego-Resiliency Scale [ERS]), and demographic and living/health conditions factors were collected through self-reported questionnaires. Hierarchical multiple regression and structural equation modeling were used to explore the contributing and mediating factors related to LS.Results: The overall LS score was 18.94±4.96. A younger age, lower monthly income, presence of chronic diseases, left-behind status, and sense of marriage insecurity were negatively associated with LS. Perceived stress was a strong predictor of LS, as it explained 19.7% of the variance. Higher levels of resilience were related to higher levels of LS, explaining 15.4% of the variance. Resilience partially mediated the relationship between stress and LS for rural residents in China.Conclusion: Overall, married women living in rural China experienced a relatively low level of LS. The construction of additional recreational facilities, provision of convenient access to medical information, facilitation of communication between couples, reduction of stress, and development of resilience could all be beneficial intervention strategies to improve LS for these rural residents. The rapidly growing technological demand for lithium-ion batteries has prompted the development of novel cathode materials with high energy density, low cost, and improved safety. High voltage spinel, LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO), is one of the most promising candidates yet to be commercialized. The two primary obstacles for this material are the inferior electronic conductivity and fast capacity degradation in full cells due to the high operating voltage. By systematically addressing these limitations, we successfully develop a thick LNMO electrode with areal capacity loadings up to 3 mAh·cm−2. The optimized thick electrode is paired with a commercial graphite anode at both the coin cell and pouch cell level, achieving a full cell capacity retention as high as 72% and 78%, respectively, after 300 cycles. We attribute this superior cycling stability to careful optimizations of cell components and testing conditions, with a specific focus improving electronic conductivity and high voltage compatibility. These results suggest precise control of materials quality, electrode architecture and electrolyte optimization can soon support the development of a cobalt-free battery system based on a thick LNMO cathode (>4 mAh·cm2), which will eventually meet the needs of next-generation Li-ion batteries with reduced cost, improved safety, and assured sustainability.

Today, energy conservation and reduction of consumption are crucial concerns for manufacturing companies. Current research on integrated scheduling of processing and assembly typically focuses only on equipment resources and processing and assembly processes. A new method for energy-saving integrated scheduling in workshops has been proposed, which incorporates the recently introduced time-of-use tiered electricity prices into the scheduling optimization model. This method also introduces an operation strategy of turning equipment on and off during idle periods. A multi-objective mathematical model was developed to minimize energy consumption and assembly delay time in the processing and assembly processes. Due to the complexity of the model, the standard firefly algorithm was improved when used to solve the model. This involved designing a three-layer encoding method and two decoding methods, and providing detailed steps of the algorithm. Using a mixed flow production line as an example, the final scheduling solutions were obtained through model construction and algorithm solving, taking into account the tiered electricity price. The results of the example demonstrate that parallel processing and assembly effectively reduce assembly delay costs, and the implementation of the on/off strategy reduces power consumption during the machining process. Solid-state fermentation in mud pits is a typical brewing process for nongxiangxing baijiu and fuyuxiangxing baijiu. Pit mud is the functional carrier of mud pits, in which the abundance, diversity, metabolic activity and interaction of microorganisms could directly affect the quality of baijiu. This paper reviews the application of traditional culture and non-culture techniques in research on microorganisms in pit mud, the spatiotemporal differences in microbial community structure, the functional microorganisms and their interactions, the development and improvement of the methods for the quality evaluation of pit mud, and pit mud maintenance and aging focusing on the functional strains, and summarizes the development history and application status of different techniques in the field of research on microorganisms related to the production of Chinese baijiu, the growth and decline patterns of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms during pit mud aging, the spatial difference in the distribution of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms in the pit, and the functions and interdependence of the core functional microorganisms in pit mud such as caproic acid bacteria, butyric acid bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, acetic acid bacteria and methane bacteria, the reason for pit mud aging, the transformation of the criteria for quality evaluation pit mud from traditional sensory and physicochemical analysis to the comprehensive evaluation system, and studies on pit mud maintenance and aging based on the functional properties of core strains. The purpose of this review is to provide a reference for evaluating the microbial diversity, exploring the metabolic function of microbial community and improving the quality of pit mud.

This study aimed to compare the postoperative analgesic efficacy and motor recovery of a novel lumbar plexus block (LPB) with that of a femoral nerve block (FNB) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Forty patients who underwent TKA were randomised equally into an lumbar plexus and sciatic nerve (LS) group (receiving novel LPB) and an femoral and sciatic nerves (FS) group (receiving FNB). The assessed variables were the onset time of pain, time to the first analgesic request, pain scores, motor block at 6, 12, and 24 h after TKA, and the number of patients receiving successful blockade for each branch of the lumbar plexus. In the LS group, the femoral, lateral femoral cutaneous, genitofemoral, iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal, and obturator nerves were blocked in 18, 20, 16, 18, 15, and 19 patients. Compared to the FS group, the LS group had a significantly shorter onset time of pain and time to the first analgesic request, a significantly larger total postoperative dose of sufentanil, significantly higher numeric rating scale scores for both rest and dynamic pain at 6, 12, and 24 h, and faster motor recovery. Novel ultrasound-guided LPB has a high blocking success rate and provides inferior postoperative analgesia, but faster motor recovery after TKA than FNB.

China is currently the world's top carbon emitter due to the acceleration of urbanization, the rapid growth of energy consumption and the rise in carbon emissions, with the construction industry leading the three energy sectors in terms of emission reduction potential. Among the various sectors, the construction industry holds immense potential for emission reduction, with public buildings playing a crucial role. In China, the expansion of public building spaces is closely linked to the pace of urbanization and contributes to a rising share of total building area. Public buildings, characterized by high energy usage, offer a great opportunity for energy conservation and emission reduction. Changsha is experiencing rapid growth and change, and the city is becoming more industrialized and urbanized, which leads to a prominent contradiction between energy supply and demand. There is also great potential for energy conservation and emission reduction in public buildings. Additionally, Changsha is an important node city in the Yangtze River urban agglomeration and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It is a typical area that has hot summer and cold winter, thus Changsha is selected as the research case to examine the carbon emission path of public buildings. The primary influencing factors of carbon emissions of public buildings in Changsha City are determined by using the LMDI factor decomposition method addition model. The scenario analysis method is adopted to set the two energy consumption forecast scenarios, which are the baseline scenario and the green scenario. Based on LEAP model and GREAT framework structure, the LEAP prediction model is constructed to predict the carbon emissions of public buildings in Changsha City from 2021 to 2035. The Baseline scenario indicates that while carbon emissions from public buildings in Changsha continue to rise, they are expected to decline starting in 2030. The peak carbon emission of 34.279 million tons of CO2 is predicted for 2032. In contrast, the Green scenario reveals a significantly slower growth rate in carbon emissions from public buildings, with the peak carbon emission projected to reach 27.054 million tons in 2030. This aligns with China's national goal. The findings of this study support the accuracy of the long-term prediction of the model, and offer recommendations for energy conservation and emission reduction in Changsha. This study also provides an example and certain guidance for other provinces and cities that have similar development models and climate conditions. Pertinent development strategies serve as a point of reference for other typical hot summer and cold winter regions.
