This paper investigates the interaction between two Static var Compensators (SVCs) to verify dynamic grid voltage support is maintained and that the SVC controllers do not negatively interact with each other. For this purpose, the controls of the SVCs with all of the remotely controlled Mechanically-Switched Capacitors (MSCs) have been tested in a closed-loop real-time simulator environment using SVC replicas (physical controllers) of the actual field installations. To accurately capture the power system’s response to phenomenon such as potential Fault Induced Delayed Voltage Recovery (FIDVR), the dynamics of the generators and the motor loads are modeled in the simulations. A hybrid model consisting of real and reactive power (P-Q) loads and aggregated motor load of a single-phase induction motor suitable for three-phase time-domain simulation was developed and connected to the power system. The developed aggregate motor load model includes details such as the main winding, auxiliary winding, starting capacitor, motor inertia, and distribution transformers. It is observed that dynamic grid voltage support can be maintained and the SVC controllers do not negatively interact with each other if all the SVC control blocks are enabled and function normally.

This work developed and validated an aggregatemotor model, justifying the conditions that should complete a group of connected motors to the same bus of electric power in low voltage, so that the motors can be aggregate in order to fulfil its energy characterization. Utilizing the equivalent circuit model, a power balance is made and a comparison between the equivalent motor and the individual motors, in order to analyse its possible substitution for a group of more efficient machines and to evaluate the saving in the energy consumption of these motors. The variations in the magnitudes of the aggregate motor reflected changes in the loads of the individual motors, with an error less than 5%, still in presence of loads of different characteristic demonstrating the validity of using a motor aggregate for the energy analysis of groups of individual motors. Este trabajo armoniza los datos nominales del motor agregado, mediciones de tensión y corriente en el suministro eléctrico al grupo de motores asincrónicos y el método del momento en el entrehierro para determinar el estado de carga, la eficiencia y demás magnitudes que caracterizan energéticamente al grupo de motores a través del equivalente. Se define el factor de incidencia como la relación entre la potencia demandada por el motor agregado y la demanda total. Los motores seleccionados tienen coeficientes de incidencias iguales o mayores que el coeficiente deincidencia medio del conjunto de agregados, garantizando que predominen los de mayor potencia, disminuyendo el número a considerar y definiendo la eficiencia como parámetro de decisión. Los resultados demuestran que el motor agregado determina el potencial de ahorro asociado a una barra de potencia con precisión, disminuyendo el volumen de cálculo, simplificando la búsqueda y en menor tiempo. This work concur the nominal data of the aggregate motor, voltage and current measurements in the asynchronous motors group electric supply and the air gap torque’s method to determine the load state, the efficiency and other magnitudes that characterize energetically the group of motorsby the equivalent one. The incidence factor is defined as the relationship between the aggregate motor’s demanded power and the total demand. The designated motors have same or bigger incidence coefficients than the half incidence coefficient of the group of aggregate, ensuring thatpredominate the most powerful, reducing the number to consider and defining the efficiency as a decision parameter. The results demonstrate that the aggregate motor determines accurately the saving potential associated to a power bus, decreasing the calculation volume, simplifying the search and in smaller time.
