Single atom alloys (SAAs) often bring new chemistry in heterogeneous catalysis and well-defined structure for the study of structure–activity relationship (SAR). However, the existing pressure gap causes the reported SARs quite divergent. Herein, we have studied CO activation over Ni/Cu(100) SAAs in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) and millibar range. While the Ni SAAs formed on Cu(100) significantly enhance the CO adsorption strength under UHV conditions, the CO treatment at elevated pressure leads to notable surface carbon and oxygen deposition through surface reaction. Density functional theory calculations revealed that either dissociation or disproportionation is thermodynamically forbidden for the coverage of CO less than 5/16 ML. However, these two reaction pathways can be opened at higher CO coverages due to the elevated energy state involving repulsion between adsorbed CO. It is significant to investigate the calcium carbonate (CaCO3) precipitation mechanism during the carbon capture process; nevertheless, CaCO3 precipitation is not clearly understood yet. Understanding the carbonation mechanism at the atomic level can contribute to the mineralization capture and utilization of carbon dioxide, as well as the development of new cementitious materials with high-performance. There are many factors, such as temperature and CO2 concentration, that can influence the carbonation reaction. In order to achieve better carbonation efficiency, the reaction conditions of carbonation should be fully verified. Therefore, based on molecular dynamics simulations, this paper investigates the atomic-scale mechanism of carbonation. We investigate the effect of carbonation factors, including temperature and concentration, on the kinetics of carbonation (polymerization rate and activation energy), the early nucleation of calcium carbonate, etc. Then, we analyze the local stresses of atoms to reveal the driving force of early stage carbonate nucleation and the reasons for the evolution of polymerization rate and activation energy. Results show that the higher the calcium concentration or temperature, the higher the polymerization rate of calcium carbonate. The on-demand assembly of 2D heterostructures has brought about both novel interfacial physical chemistry and optoelectronic applications; however, existing studies rarely focus on the complementary part—the 2D cavity, which is a new-born area with unprecedented opportunities. In this study, we have investigated the electric field inside a spacer-free 2D cavity consisting of a monolayer semiconductor and a gold film substrate. We have directly captured the built-in electric field crossing a blinking 2D cavity using a Kelvin probe force microscopy–Raman system. The simultaneously recorded morphology (M), electric field (E), and optical spectroscopy (O) mapping profile unambiguously reveals dynamical fluctuations of the interfacial electric field under a constant cavity height. Moreover, we have also prepared non-blinking 2D cavities and analyzed the gap-dependent electric field evolution with a gradual heating procedure, which further enhances the maximum electric field exceeding 109 V/m. Our work has revealed substantial insights into the built-in electric field within a 2D cavity, which will benefit adventures in electric-field-dependent interfacial sciences and future applications of 2D chemical nanoreactors. The study of granular avalanches in rotating drums is not only essential to understanding various complex behaviors of interest in granular media from a scientific perspective; it also has valuable applications in regard to industrial processes and geological catastrophes. Despite decades of research studies on avalanches, a proper understanding of their dynamic properties still remains a great challenge to scientists due to a lack of state-of-the-art techniques. In this study, we accurately predict the avalanche dynamic features of three-dimensional granular materials in rotating drums, by using graph neural networks on the basis of their initial static microstructures alone. We find that our method is robust to changes in various model parameters, such as the interaction potential, size polydispersity, and noise in particle coordinates. In addition, with the grain-scale velocities obtained either from our network or from numerical simulations, we find an approximately equal and strong correlation between the global velocity and global velocity fluctuation in our 3D granular avalanche systems, which further demonstrates the predictive power of our trained graph neural networks to uncover the fundamental physics of granular avalanches. The non-adiabatic relaxation processes and the fragmentation dynamics of Rydberg-excited N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylmethylenediamine (TMMDA) are investigated using femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging and time-resolved mass spectroscopy. Excitation at 208 nm populates TMMDA in a charge-localized 3p state. Rapid internal conversion (IC) to 3s produces two charge-delocalized conformers with independent time constants and distinct population ratios. As the system explores the 3s potential surface, the structural evolution continues on a 1.55 ps timescale, followed by a slower (12.1 ps) relaxation to the ground state. A thorough comparison of the time-dependent mass and photoelectron spectra suggests that ionization out of the 3p state ends up with the parent ion, the vibrational energy of which is insufficient for the bond cleavage. On the contrary, by virtue of the additional energy acquired by IC from 3p, the internal energy deposited in 3s is available to break the C–N bond, leading to the fragment ion. To test the hypotheses that multigenerational predation risk favors clones with longer postero-lateral spines and a larger body, and that fitness consequences of selection depend on both tested fitness variables and selection intensity, we expose replicate Brachionus dorcas populations in low (LK) and high (HK) concentrations of Asplanchna kairomones. Over 60 days (23 asexual generations) of selection, LK-selected populations showed the highest equilibrium population densities, and median mictic ratios and postero-lateral spine lengths, and HK-selected populations showed the lowest equilibrium population densities, the highest mictic ratios, and the longest postero-lateral spines, among all the control and treatment populations. In the absence of Asplanchna kairomones, and compared with populations with the control selection history, populations with an LK selection history showed increased growth rates/intrinsic rates of population increase and net reproductive rates, but decreased mictic ratios, indicating three fitness gains and a fitness cost; and those with an HK selection history showed increased life expectancy at hatching and mictic ratios, but decreased growth rates, indicating two fitness gains and a fitness cost. Asplanchna kairomones might increase the heritability of higher equilibrium densities or mictic ratios, and longer postero-lateral spines, and thus enable the prey to survive predation. Background: Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rare but potentially life-threatening soft tissue infection. The objective of this study was to assess the association between timely surgery within 6 h and hospital mortality in patients with limb NF, and to describe the trends in patients with NF, time to surgery and standardized mortality ratio (SMR) over 11 years. Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study of all intensive care unit patients who had emergency surgery within 24 h of hospitalization for limb NF between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2019 in Hong Kong. Timely surgery was defined as the first surgical treatment within 6 h of initial hospitalization. Appropriate antibiotics were achieved if the patient was given antibiotic(s) for all documented pathogens prior to or on day of culture results. The primary outcome was hospital mortality. Results: There were 495 patients (median age 62 years, 349 (70.5%) males) with limb NF treated by surgery within 24 h of hospitalization over the 11 years. Appropriate antibiotic(s) were used in 392 (79.2%) patients. There were 181 (36.5%) deaths. Timely surgery was not associated with hospital mortality (Relative Risk 0.89, 95% CI: 0.73 to 1.07) but admission year, advanced age, higher severity of illness, comorbidities, renal replacement therapy, vasopressor use, and type of surgery were significant predictors in the multivariable model. There was an upward trend in NF diagnosis (1.9 cases/year, 95% CI: 0.7 to 3.1; P < 0.01; R2 = 0.60) but there was no downward trend in median time to surgery (-0.2 h/year, 95% CI: -0.4 to 0.1; P = 0.16) or SMR (-0.02/year, 95% CI: -0.06 to 0.01; P = 0.22; R2 = 0.16). Conclusions: Among patients operated within 24 h, very early surgery within 6–12 h was not associated with survival. Increasing limb NF cases were reported each year but mortality remained high despite a high rate of appropriate antibiotic use and timely surgical intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Ovarian carcinoma (OC) is a fatal malignancy, with most patients experiencing recurrence and resistance to chemotherapy. In contrast to hematogenous metastasizing tumors, ovarian cancer cells disseminate within the peritoneal cavity, especially the omentum. Previously, we reported omental crown-like structure (CLS) number is associated with poor prognosis of advanced-stage OC. CLS that have pathologic features of a dead or dying adipocyte was surrounded by several macrophages is well known a histologic hallmark for inflammatory adipose tissue. In this study, we attempted to clarify the interaction between metastatic ovarian cancer cells and omental CLS, and to formulate a therapeutic strategy for advanced-stage ovarian cancer. Methods: A three-cell (including OC cells, adipocytes and macrophages) coculture model was established to mimic the omental tumor microenvironment (TME) of ovarian cancer. Caspase-1 activity, ATP and free fatty acids (FFA) levels were detected by commercial kits. An adipocyte organoid model was established to assess macrophages migration and infiltration. In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed for functional assays and therapeutic effect evaluations. Clinical OC tissue samples were collected for immunochemistry stain and statistics analysis. Results: In three-cell coculture model, OC cells-derived IL-6 and IL-8 could induce the occurrence of pyroptosis in omental adipocytes. The pyroptotic adipocytes release ATP to increase macrophage infiltration, release FFA into TME, uptake by OC cells to increase chemoresistance. From OC tumor samples study, we demonstrated patients with high gasdermin D (GSDMD) expression in omental adipocytes is highly correlated with chemoresistance and poor outcome in advanced-stage OC. In animal model, by pyroptosis inhibitor, DSF, effectively retarded tumor growth and prolonged mice survival. Conclusions: Omental adipocyte pyroptosis may contribute the chemoresistance in advanced stage OC. Omental adipocytes could release FFA and ATP through the GSDMD-mediate pyroptosis to induce chemoresistance and macrophages infiltration resulting the poor prognosis in advanced-stage OC. Spouted bed is widely used in biomass combustion and other industrial production due to the advantages of good heat transfer performance and sufficient gas–solid mixing. In order to achieve higher heat and mass transfer performance and conversion efficiency, inert particles are often added to assist in the fluidization of biomass particles. However, the stacking patterns of different particles in a binary particle system can have some effects on particle flow, distribution, and bed stability. Therefore, in this study, the computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method was used to analyze the particle fluidization characteristics under four different particle stacking modes in a spouted bed. The results show that the average bed height of larger spherocylindrical particles is prioritized in binary particle systems. The void fraction of spherocylindrical particles tends to increase in the near-wall region, whereas spherical particles tend to decrease. When the binary particles are mixed at the initial moment, the change rule of vertical velocity of the two particles remains consistent. In addition, the vertical velocities of two kinds of particles when layered stacking is used are gradually close to each other only after a period of time. In addition, the orientation angle of the spherocylindrical particles in the spouted bed tends to be horizontal for both the single-component spherocylindrical particle system and the wall effect attenuates this phenomenon. Candida albicans is a common fungal pathogen that can cause life-threatening infections. MIR1 is considered to be a mitochondrial phosphate carrier of C. albicans, while its role in virulence has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we found that mir1Δ/Δ mutant exhibited severe virulence defect in both nematode and murine models. Further mechanism studies revealed that the mir1Δ/Δ mutant grew more slowly than the wild-type strain and showed severe filamentation defects on the hypha-inducing agar media, including YPD + serum, Lee, Spider + glucose, SLAD, SLD, and YPS. Furthermore, the loss of MIR1 resulted in unfermentable carbon utilisation defect, ATP decrease, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation in C. albicans. Antioxidant proanthocyanidins, vitamin E, and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) could reduce intracellular ROS levels and partially rescue the filamentation defects of the mir1Δ/Δ mutant. Accordingly, hypha-specific genes, as well as CEK1 and RIM101 were down-regulated in the mir1Δ/Δ mutant, and this down-regulation could be partially rescued by the addition of the antioxidant NAC. BACKGROUND: Tongue diagnosis is a crucial traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) inspection method for TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. OBJECTIVE: The primary research focus was on tongue image characteristic parameters of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Analysis of the tongue image parameters of various pathological stages of NSCLC provides technical support for establishing an integrated Chinese and Western auxiliary diagnosis and efficacy evaluation medicine system for lung cancer that integrates tongue image features. METHODS: Tongue image characteristics of 309 patients with NSCLC and 206 controls were collected and analyzed clinically. The T -test or rank sum test and logistic regression analysis were applied to analyze the characteristics of tongue image indicators of different pathological stages of NSCLC. RESULTS: There were differences in tongue image characteristics in the NSCLC group compared to the control group. The tongue quality and brightness of the tongue coating in the NSCLC group increased, the red component was reduced, the tongue coating thickened, and the yellow component increased compared to the healthy control group. A comparison of tongue image indexes of NSCLC in different pathological stages showed that stage IV had lower TB-b and higher TB-a than stage I. In addition, stage IV had lower TB-b than stage II + III, showing an increase in the blue and red components of the tongue in stage IV and the appearance of cyanotic tongue features. CONCLUSION: The tongue image characteristics of NSCLC patients differed from those of the control group. Tongue imaging indicators can reflect the characteristics of tongue images of patients with NSCLC. The tongue image characteristics of patients with stage IV lung cancer are bluish and purple compared with those with stage I, II, and III. It is suggested that the tongue's image characteristics can be used as a reference for the pathological classification of NSCLC and judgment of the disease process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for adenomyosis and postoperative recurrence and its influencing factors. Methods: Clinical and follow-up data of 308 patients with adenomyosis who were treated with HIFU in Haifu Center, Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2017 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The recurrence of adenomyosis and the efficacy of HIFU at 6 months after surgery were followed up. To explore factors influencing postoperative prognosis and recurrence, the following variables were analyzed: patients' age, course of disease, gravidity and parity, size of the uterus, duration of HIFU, duration of irradiation, treatment intensity, dysmenorrhea score, time of follow-up, combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), western medicine adjuvant treatment, lesion location and type, and menorrhagia. Results: Among the 308 patients, 238 (77%) were followed up from 6 to 36 months, with an average follow-up time of 15.24 ± 9.97 months. The other 70 (23%) were lost to follow-up. At 6-month after surgery, efficacy rates of dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia management were 86.7% and 89.3%, respectively. Postoperative recurrence rates were 4.8% (1–12 months), 9.0% (12–24 months), and 17.0% (24–36 months) for dysmenorrhea; and 6.3% (1–12 months), 2.4% (12–24 months), and 12.2% (24–36 months) for menorrhagia. Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that parity (P = 0.043, OR = 1.773, 95% CI 1.018–3.087), uterine size (P = 0.019, OR = 1.004, 95% CI 1.001–1.007), combined treatment of TCM (P = 0.047, OR = 1.846, 95% CI 1.008–3.381), diffuse lesion type (P = 0.013, OR = 0.464, 95% CI 0.254–0.848) and ablation rate (P = 0.015, OR = 0.481, 95%CI 0.267–0.868) were prognostic factors (P < 0.05). Age, course of disease, gravidity, duration of HIFU, duration of irradiation, treatment intensity, preoperative dysmenorrhea score, time of follow-up, western medicine adjuvant therapy, lesion location, and preoperative menstrual volume had no effect on prognosis (P > 0.05). Conclusion: HIFU can effectively relieve dysmenorrhea and reduce menstrual volume in patients with adenomyosis. Parity, uterine size, lesion type (diffuse), and ablation rate are risk factors for symptom recurrence after HIFU, while the combination of TCM therapy is a protective factor for relapse. In this paper, we propose a new integrable fractional Fokas--Lenells equation by using the completeness of the squared eigenfunctions, dispersion relation, and inverse scattering transform. To solve this equation, we employ the Riemann--Hilbert approach. Specifically, we focus on the case of the reflectionless potential with a simple pole for the zero boundary condition. And we provide the fractional N-soliton solution in determinant form. In addition, we prove the fractional one-soliton solution rigorously. Investigating high-performance and stable spintronics devices has been a research hotspot in recent years. In this paper, we employed first-principles methods and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations to explore the structure, electronic, and magnetic properties of monolayer NbSe2, as well as its behavior under carrier concentration modulation. The research on the electronic structure reveals that by introducing an appropriate amount of holes, the material can undergo a transition from metal to a half-metal state, achieving 100% high spin polarization. Investigation of magnetic crystalline anisotropy shows that the magnetic crystal anisotropy energy of 1210 μeV in out-of-plane is beneficial to maintain ferromagnetic order at high temperatures. In addition, doping with suitable carriers can effectively enhance or strengthen the ferromagnetic coupling in NbSe2 so that the magnetization easy axis is shifted. This reveals the potential application prospects of NbSe2 in electronically controlled spintronic devices. Analysis of the Fermi surface shows that both holes and electron doping increase the Fermi velocity of the material. The effect of hole doping is particularly significant, indicating its potential application in Fermi velocity engineering. Under the theoretical framework of the extended two-dimensional Ising model, based on MC simulation, the Curie temperature (TC) of NbSe2 is predicted to be 162 K. The effects of carrier concentration and the magnetic field on the magnetic and thermal properties of monolayer NbSe2 are simulated. The results show that appropriately increasing the hole doping concentration and magnetic field is conducive to obtaining ferromagnetic half-metallic materials with TC higher than room temperature, which provides theoretical support for experimental preparation. Multiple scattering poses a fundamental limitation in deep imaging, especially for high-resolution optical imaging methods. The amalgamation of reflection matrix measurements and optical coherence tomography (OCT) has afforded significant advantages for deep imaging through highly scattering media. To empirically exhibit the superior performance of reflection matrix OCT (RMOCT), this study proposes a unique method to ascertain the actual resolutions at each imaging point. In contrast to conventional theoretical lateral resolutions, these resolutions are derived by applying time-reversal decomposition to the time-gated reflection matrix. Moreover, the concept of contribution rate, which quantifies the imaging contributions for each point, is introduced by considering the local imaging point itself and its neighboring points. The contribution rate provides a quantitative evaluation of the imaging quality afforded by a system. Objectives: Although nonsurgical and surgical management of knee arthrofibrosis has been reported in the literature, there is little information on the effect of procedural treatment modalities of refractory arthrofibrosis on clinical outcomes. The purpose of this case report is to describe the intervention of refractory knee arthrofibrosis after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and investigate long-term clinical outcomes after procedural intervention. Methods: A 27-year-old male presented with decreased range of motion (ROM), patellar mobility, strength, and knee joint function following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction of his left knee. After failed conservative management, the patient underwent manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) to release scar tissue. Following MUA, the emphasis of comprehensive physiotherapy was on decreasing inflammation, relieving pain, and maintaining patellar mobility while increasing knee joint ROM and strength. Knee ROM, patellofemoral motion, gait, and quadriceps recruitment were measured 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after MUA. Results: At 2-year follow-up after MUA, the patient continued to present with decreased ROM and quadriceps strength compared to the contralateral knee, but had returned to a running program and reported knee joint dysfunction no longer interfered with his daily activities. Conclusions: This case report demonstrates signs and symptoms that could indicate knee arthrofibrosis and introduces procedural intervention for refractory arthrofibrosis after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Highlights: LPS-induced ARDS rats and PMVECs have low Fcgr2b level and high Elk1 level; Fcgr2b overexpression mitigates LPS-induced ALI/ARDS in rats and PMVECs; Elk1 knockdown mitigates LPS-induced ALI/ARDS in rats and PMVECs; Elk1 represses Fcgr2b transcription by recruiting H3K9me3; Elk1/Fcgr2b axis aggravates LPS-induced ALI/ARDS in rats and PMVECs. Objective: Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are associated with significant mortality rates. The role of Fcgr2b in the pathogenesis of ALI/ARDS is not fully elucidated. This study aimed to investigate the functions of Fcgr2b in ALI/ARDS and explore its underlying mechanisms. Methods: Methods: In this study, rat models of ARDS and pulmonary microvascular endothelial cell (PMVEC) injury models were established through the administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The expression levels of Fcgr2b and Elk1 were quantified in both LPS-induced ARDS rats and PMVECs. Subsequent gain- and loss-of-function experiments were conducted, followed by comprehensive assessments of lung tissue for pathomorphological changes, edema, glycogen storage, fibrosis, and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Additionally, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was analyzed for T-helper 17 (Th17) cell infiltration, inflammatory response, and microvascular permeability to evaluate lung injury severity in ARDS models. Furthermore, the activity, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and angiogenic potential of PMVECs were assessed to gauge cell injury. The interaction between Elk1 and Fcgr2b was also examined to confirm their regulatory relationship. Results: In the context of LPS-induced ARDS and PMVEC injury, Fcgr2b expression was markedly reduced, whereas Elk1 expression was elevated. Overexpression of Fcgr2b led to a decrease in Th17 cell infiltration and mitigated lung tissue damage in ARDS models, in addition to reducing LPS-induced injury in PMVECs. Elk1 was found to suppress Fcgr2b transcription through the recruitment of histone 3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3). Knockdown of Elk1 diminished Th17 cell infiltration and lung tissue damage in ARDS models, and alleviated LPS-induced injury in PMVECs, effects that were reversed upon Fcgr2b upregulation. Conclusion: Elk1 negatively regulates Fcgr2b transcription, thereby augmenting the inflammatory response and exacerbating lung injury in LPS-induced ALI/ARDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three new antimony corroles bearing nitro group at ortho-, meta-, and para-position of 10-phenyl 2-NBPC-Sb(1), 3-NBPC-Sb(2) and 4-NBPC-Sb(3), respectively, were prepared. The application of antimony corrole in the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was explored for the first time. The results demonstrate that antimony corrole has good electrocatalytic activity in the HER with acetonitrile and neutral buffer solvents; the catalytic efficacy follows the order 1 > 2 > 3. Specifically, complex 1 exhibited a remarkable turnover frequency (TOF) of 17.65 s−1 in acetonitrile when using trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) served as the proton source at an overpotential of 642 mV. Osteoarthritis (OA) is now widely acknowledged as a low-grade inflammatory condition, in which the intrinsic immune system plays a significant role in its pathogenesis. While the involvement of macrophages and T cells in the development of OA has been extensively reviewed, recent research has provided mounting evidence supporting the crucial contribution of NK cells in both the initiation and advancement of OA. Accumulated evidence has emerged in recent years indicating that NK cells play a critical role in OA development and progression. This review will outline the ongoing understanding of the utility of NK cells in the etiology of OA, focusing on how NK cells interact with chondrocytes, synoviocytes, osteoclasts, and other immune cells to influence the course of OA disease. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the deadliest subtype of breast cancer owing to the lack of effective therapeutic targets. Splicing factor 3a subunit 2 (SF3A2), a poorly defined splicing factor, was notably elevated in TNBC tissues and promoted TNBC progression, as confirmed by cell proliferation, colony formation, transwell migration, and invasion assays. Mechanistic investigations revealed that E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase UBR5 promoted the ubiquitination-dependent degradation of SF3A2, which in turn regulated UBR5, thus forming a feedback loop to balance these two oncoproteins. Moreover, SF3A2 accelerated TNBC progression by, at least in part, specifically regulating the alternative splicing of makorin ring finger protein 1 (MKRN1) and promoting the expression of the dominant and oncogenic isoform, MKRN1-T1. Furthermore, SF3A2 participated in the regulation of both extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis, leading to cisplatin resistance in TNBC cells. Spherocylindrical particles encompass elongated spherical particles, such as biomass particles utilized in thermal reactions and capsule pills in the pharmaceutical industry, along with various other particles found in industrial production processes. Understanding the flow behavior of spherocylindrical particles within a spouted bed holds significant practical importance. This study delves into investigating the fluidization characteristics of spherocylindrical particles with varying aspect ratios within a spouted bed. Key parameters studied include particle void fraction, velocity, orientation, and mixing. These were analyzed using the computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method, and the simulation model's accuracy was verified through high-speed photography experiments. The findings revealed distinct void fraction distributions at different locations within the bed. Particles in the higher-bed region exhibited larger void fractions with flatter peaks compared to those in the lower-bed region. Moreover, the correlation between particle aspect ratio and void fraction varied at different heights within the bed. Notably, there was no significant correlation observed between particle aspect ratio and particle velocity. However, the larger the particle aspect ratio/gas velocity, the better the particle mixing quality. Additionally, gas velocity and particle aspect ratio had little effect on particle orientation, but there was a tendency for particle orientation angles to hover around 45°–60° near the wall region. Objective: To investigate whether compression therapy after thermal ablation of varicose veins can improve the prognosis of patients. Methods: Systematic research were applied for Chinese and English electronic databases(PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP Databases). Eligible prospective studies that comparing the efficacy of compression therapy and non‐compression therapy on patients after thermal ablation of varicose veins were included. The interest outcome such as pain, quality of life (QOL), venous clinical severity score (VCSS), time to return to work and complications were analyzed. Results: 10 studies were of high quality, and randomized controlled trials involving 1,545 patients met the inclusion criteria for this study. At the same time, the meta‐analysis showed that the application of compression therapy improved pain (SMD: ‐0.51, 95% CI: ‐0.95, ‐0.07) but exhibited no statistically significant effect on QOL (SMD: 0.04, 95% CI: ‐0.08, 0.16), VCSS (MD: ‐0.05, 95% CI: ‐1.19, 1.09), time to return to work (MD: ‐0.43, 95% CI: ‐0.90, 0.03), total complications (RR: 0.54, 95% CI: 0.27, 1.09), and thrombosis (RR: 0.71, 95% CI: 0.31, 1.62). Conclusion: Compression therapy after thermal ablation of varicose veins can slightly relieve pain, but it has not been found to be associated with improvement in other outcomes. Background and Aims: Understanding microbial compositions and functions in arable soils is crucial for effective agroecosystem management. While many studies have explored this topic, large-scale investigations are lacking, resulting in the absence of consistent and reliable patterns of communities and functions of soil microorganisms. Methods: To address this gap, we performed an integrated analysis of published sequencing data from the soils of three main arable fields: upland, paddy, and paddy-upland rotation. Results: Bacterial diversity (richness, Shannon) was highest in upland soils. Actinobacteria and Planctomycetes were enriched in upland soils, while Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, and Nitrospirae preferred paddy and paddy-upland rotation soils. Bacteria in upland soils have a greater functional potential to decompose aromatic compounds, as well as for chitinolysis and ureolysis. Methanotrophy, methylotrophy, sulfur-related respiration, and most nitrogen metabolic processes were enriched in paddy fields. Bacteria in upland soils are characterized by increased dormancy potential and a faster response to resource input than those in paddy and paddy-upland rotation soils. Stochastic processes poorly contribute to the bacterial assembly in paddy soils, indicating strong environmental filtering due to anaerobic conditions. The spatial turnover in bacterial community composition was much faster than the functional potential, indicating high functional redundancy, especially in paddy soils. Edaphic factors were the major contributors to bacterial composition, whereas the cropland type influenced the predicted functions. Conclusions: Land use defines microbial composition, functional attributes, and ecological characteristics (e.g., dormancy potential, assembly processes, and functional redundancy). Objective: To perform a meta-analysis comparing the MRI features of tuberculous and pyogenic spondylitis, using histopathological results and/or blood culture as the standard reference. Materials and methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched for English-language studies on the MRI features of tuberculous and pyogenic spondylitis published between January 2010 and February 2023. Risk for bias and concerns regarding applicability were assessed using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool. Pooled MRI features' proportions were calculated using a bivariate random-effects model. Results: Thirty-two studies met the inclusion criteria: 21 for tuberculous spondylitis, three for pyogenic spondylitis, and eight for both. Of the nine informative MRI features comparing tuberculous spondylitis to pyogenic spondylitis, involvement of ≥ 2 vertebral bodies (92% vs. 88%, P =.004), epidural extension (77% vs. 25%, P <.001), paravertebral collection (91% vs. 84%, P <.001), subligamentous spread (93% vs. 24%, P <.001), thin and regular abscess wall (94% vs. 18%, P <.001), vertebral collapse (68% vs. 24%, P <.001), and kyphosis (39% vs. 3%, P <.01) were more suggestive of tuberculous spondylitis, while disc signal change (82% vs. 95%, P <.001) and disc height loss (22% vs. 59%, P <.001) were more suggestive of pyogenic spondylitis. Conclusion: Involvement of ≥ 2 vertebral vertebral bodies, soft tissue attribution, thin and regular abscess wall, vertebral collapse, and kyphosis were MRI features more common in tuberculous spondylitis, while disc signal change and height loss were more common in pyogenic spondylitis. Objective: Quantitative sensory testing is widely used in clinical and research settings to assess the sensory functions of healthy subjects and patients. It is of importance to establish normative values in a healthy population to provide reference for studies involving patients. Given the absence of normative values for pain thresholds in Taiwan, the aim of this study was to report the normative values for future reference in the Taiwanese population and compare the differences between male and female participants. Methods: Healthy adults without any chronic or acute pain condition were recruited. The pain thresholds were assessed over the cephalic (supraorbital area and masseter muscle) and extracephalic (medio‐volar forearm and thenar eminence) areas. The heat, cold, mechanical punctate, and pressure pain thresholds were measured with a standardized protocol. Comparisons between male and female participants were performed. Results: One hundred and thirty healthy participants (55 males: 30.4 ± 7.4 years; 75 females: 30.5 ± 8.1 years) finished the assessments. Male participants were less sensitive to mechanical stimuli, including pressure over masseter muscle (male vs. female: 178.5 ± 56.7 vs. 156.6 ± 58.4 kPa, p =.034) and punctate over medio‐volar forearm (male vs. female: 116.4 ± 45.2 vs. 98.7 ± 65.4 g, p =.011), compared to female participants. However, female participants were less sensitive to cold stimuli, indicated by lower cold pain thresholds over the supraorbital area (male vs. female: 18.6 ± 8.4 vs. 13.6 ± 9.3°C, p =.004), compared to male participants. Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a life-threatening respiratory condition characterized by severe inflammation and lung tissue damage, frequently causing rapid respiratory failure and long-term complications. The microRNA let-7a-5p is involved in the progression of lung injury, inflammation, and fibrosis by regulating immune cell activation and cytokine production. This study aims to use an innovative cellular electroporation platform to generate extracellular vesicles (EVs) carring let-7a-5p (EV-let-7a-5p) derived from transfected Wharton's jelly-mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) as a potential gene therapy for ALI. Methods: A cellular nanoporation (CNP) method was used to induce the production and release of EV-let-7a-5p from WJ-MSCs transfected with the relevant plasmid DNA. EV-let-7a-5p in the conditioned medium were isolated using a tangential flow filtration (TFF) system. EV characterization followed the minimal consensus guidelines outlined by the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles. We conducted a thorough set of therapeutic assessments, including the antifibrotic effects using a transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β)-induced cell model, the modulation effects on macrophage polarization, and the influence of EV-let-7a-5p in a rat model of hyperoxia-induced ALI. Results: The CNP platform significantly increased EV secretion from transfected WJ-MSCs, and the encapsulated let-7a-5p in engineered EVs was markedly higher than that in untreated WJ-MSCs. These EV-let-7a-5p did not influence cell proliferation and effectively mitigated the TGF-β-induced fibrotic phenotype by downregulating SMAD2/3 phosphorylation in LL29 cells. Furthermore, EV-let-7a-5p regulated M2-like macrophage activation in an inflammatory microenvironment and significantly induced interleukin (IL)-10 secretion, demonstrating their modulatory effect on inflammation. Administering EVs from untreated WJ-MSCs slightly improved lung function and increased let-7a-5p expression in plasma in the hyperoxia-induced ALI rat model. In comparison, EV-let-7a-5p significantly reduced macrophage infiltration and collagen deposition while increasing IL-10 expression, causing a substantial improvement in lung function. Conclusion: This study reveals that the use of the CNP platform to stimulate and transfect WJ-MSCs could generate an abundance of let-7a-5p-enriched EVs, which underscores the therapeutic potential in countering inflammatory responses, fibrotic activation, and hyperoxia-induced lung injury. Lethal toxin (LT) is the critical virulence factor of Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of anthrax. One common symptom observed in patients with anthrax is thrombocytopenia, which has also been observed in mice injected with LT. Our previous study demonstrated that LT induces thrombocytopenia by suppressing megakaryopoiesis, but the precise molecular mechanisms behind this phenomenon remain unknown. In this study, we utilized 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-induced megakaryocytic differentiation in human erythroleukemia (HEL) cells to identify genes involved in LT-induced megakaryocytic suppression. Through cDNA microarray analysis, we identified Dachshund homolog 1 (DACH1) as a gene that was upregulated upon TPA treatment but downregulated in the presence of TPA and LT, purified from the culture supernatants of B. anthracis. To investigate the function of DACH1 in megakaryocytic differentiation, we employed short hairpin RNA technology to knock down DACH1 expression in HEL cells and assessed its effect on differentiation. Our data revealed that the knockdown of DACH1 expression suppressed megakaryocytic differentiation, particularly in polyploidization. We demonstrated that one mechanism by which B. anthracis LT induces suppression of polyploidization in HEL cells is through the cleavage of MEK1/2. This cleavage results in the downregulation of the ERK signaling pathway, thereby suppressing DACH1 gene expression and inhibiting polyploidization. Additionally, we found that known megakaryopoiesis-related genes, such as FOSB, ZFP36L1, RUNX1, FLI1, AHR, and GFI1B genes may be positively regulated by DACH1. Furthermore, we observed an upregulation of DACH1 during in vitro differentiation of CD34–megakaryocytes and downregulation of DACH1 in patients with thrombocytopenia. Background: Frailty is a vulnerability state increasing the risk of many adverse health outcomes, but little is known about the effects of frailty on neuropsychiatric health. Objective: To explore the associations between frailty and the risk of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) in Alzheimer's disease (AD), especially in its different clinical stages. Methods: We included 2,155 individuals assessed using modified frailty index-11 (mFI-11), Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI) and Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire (NPI-Q) in the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). The relationships between frailty and NPSs were explored with logistic regression models and Cox proportional hazard regression models. Causal mediation analyses were conducted to explore the mediation factors between frailty and NPSs. Results: Among mild cognitive impairment (MCI) participants, frailty was cross-sectionally associated with an increased risk of apathy, and longitudinally associated with increased risk of depression and apathy. Among AD participants, frailty was cross-sectionally associated with increased risk of depression and anxiety, and longitudinally associated with an increased risk of apathy. Among participants with cognitive progression, frailty was associated with increased risk of depression and apathy. In MCI participants, the influence of frailty on NPSs was partially mediated by hippocampus volume, whole brain volume, and monocytes, with mediating proportions ranging from 8.40% to 9.29%. Conclusions: Frailty was associated with NPSs such as depression, anxiety, and apathy among MCI, AD, and cognitive progression participants. Purpose: There is controversy concerning the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and osteoporosis. This study is to examine the causal relationship between H. pylori infection and osteoporosis and to analyze the potential mechanism underlying the relationship. Methods: The clinical data of H. pylori infection and bone mineral density from patients or physical examiner with good general condition in our hospital between September 2019 and September 2020 were retrospectively collected. The relationship between H. pylori infection and osteoporosis was compared and analyzed, using logistic regression to examine the potential mechanism underlying the association. To investigate the causal effects of H. pylori infection and osteoporosis, we conducted a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Results: A total of 470 patients were positive for H. pylori, with a detection rate of 52.22%. It was found that age, SBP, FPG, DBP, ALB, LDL-C, hs-CRP, and OC were positively correlated with osteoporosis, while negative correlations were observed with BMI, LYM, ALB, TP, TG, HDL-C, SCr, UA, and VitD. After stratified analysis of sex and age, it was found that there was a significant correlation between H. pylori infection and osteoporosis. The levels of SBP, ALP, FPG, LDL-C, hs-CRP, and OC in both H. pylori-positive group and osteoporosis group were higher than those in the H. pylori-negative group while the levels of BMI, ALB, TP, HDL-C, SCr, UA, and VitD in the positive group were significantly lower than those in the negative group. Logistic regression analyses with gender and age showed that ALB, FPG, HDL-C, and VitD were common risk factors for osteoporosis and H. pylori infection. In the MR analysis, the IVW results found a positive effect of H. pylori infection on osteoporosis (OR = 1.0017, 95% CI: 1.0002–1.0033, P = 0.0217). Regarding the reverse direction analysis, there was insufficient evidence to prove the causal effects of osteoporosis on H. pylori infection. Conclusion: Our study provides evidence for causal effects of H. pylori infection on osteoporosis. Fundamental research on single-particle breaking and the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of carbonaceous mudstone aggregates at different water contents was carried out to investigate the relationship between the single-particle crushing strength and UCS. Based on elasticity theory and the superposition principle, a shape factor α was introduced to propose a mechanical model of crushing strength that considers the effect of particle shape, and a model was developed to predict the UCS of soil–rock aggregates (SRAs) from the single-particle crushing strength. The test conditions were set to a dry state and a water content of 6–10% according to the water content test results for carbonaceous mudstones with different dimensions. The experimental results reveal that the shape factor α of particles ranges from 0.44 to 1.0 when the crushing strength model is applied considering shape effects. As the water content increases, the crushing strength of the carbonaceous mudstone decreases linearly, the effect of the dimension is significant, and the crushing strength decreases by 7.4% in the dry state and by 41.02% at a water content of 10%. The UCS model considering the single-particle crushing strength accurately reflects the variation of the UCS with the volume block proportion (VBP) and provides a new approach for predicting the UCS. Objective: To estimate the rate and risk factors of re‐intervention for patients with uterine fibroids (UFs) undergoing high‐intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) at different age distributions. Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in Nanchong Central Hospital, recruiting a total of 672 patients with UFs undergoing HIFU from June 2017 to December 2019. Using univariate and multivariate logistic regression, risk factors for re‐intervention were assessed. Results: Among 401 patients with UFs who completed the follow‐up visits (median 47 months, range 34–61), 50 (12.46%) patients underwent re‐intervention (such as high‐intensity focused ultrasound, uterine artery embolization, myomectomy and hysterectomy). In the different age distributions, the re‐intervention rate was 17.5% (34/194) in patients aged <45 years and 7.7% (16/207) in those aged ≥45 years. Regarding the younger patient group (aged <45 years), hypo‐ or iso‐intensive fibroids in T2‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (T2WI) intensity may elevate the risk of re‐intervention for UFs (odds ratio [OR] 2.96, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.37–6.62; P = 0.007). Among the older patient group (aged ≥45 years), preoperative anemic patients had an increased risk of re‐intervention compared with those without anemia (OR 3.30, 95% CI 1.01–10.37; P = 0.041). Conclusion: The re‐intervention rate of HIFU decreased with increasing age. Among those aged <45 years, T2WI intensity was the independent risk factor for re‐intervention, and among those aged ≥45 years, preoperative anemic status may be related to re‐intervention outcome. Background: To review the incidence and extent of peri‐electrode edema after DBS and to clarify the effect of postoperative use of steroids on the peri‐electrode edema. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 250 patients who underwent bilateral subthalamic nucleus (STN) DBS surgery with intact MRI within 1 month after DBS surgery. Patients were divided into steroid and non‐steroid groups, based on postoperative steroids use. The occurrence and extent of peri‐electrode edema were compared between the two groups, and other associated factors were analyzed using univariate and multivariate methods. Results: Peri‐electrode edema >1 cm3 in at least one hemisphere was reported in 215 (86.00%) patients. The mean volume of peri‐electrode edema observed in the steroid group was significantly smaller than in the non‐steroid group (8.09 ± 8.47 cm3 vs 17.10 ± 16.90 cm3, p < 0.001). In the steroid group, 104 (32.91%) of the 316 implanted electrodes present with edema less than 1 cm3, whereas in the non‐steroid group, only 27 (14.67%) of the 184 implanted electrodes present with edema less than 1 cm3 (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis indicated that lesser peri‐electrode edema was significantly associated with postoperative steroids use and general anesthesia. Stroke is the third leading cause of adult disability and mortality in Malaysia. During the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering care to many stroke survivors may lead to poorer caregivers' mental and physical health. The social burden among stroke caregivers may be compromised when the social connection in a pandemic is limited. This review article discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on stroke caregivers' lives in terms of various burden (e.g., physical, psychological, developmental, social), with time demand intersected in these aspects. The roles of sociodemographic factors and social connection in contributing to these burden were also discussed. A conceptual framework which illustrates the interrelationships between various sociodemographic variables and different aspects of social connections, and their links to caregivers' burden (especially in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic) was put forward for future empirical investigations. Background: Previous research has highlighted the regulatory role of miR-182-5p in targeting TLR4 during the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis. In a different context, TLR4 has been identified as a crucial factor in the development of lung ischemia-reperfusion injury, where its upregulation is believed to initiate the injury process. Additionally, miR-199a-3p has been shown to possess cardioprotective properties in simulated ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury models. Materials and Methods: HE and TUNEL were performed to evaluate the cardiac injury and cellular apoptosis of I/R mice under distinct conditions. Real-time PCR was used to analyze the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) and mRNAs under differential conditions. Results: Pretreatment by Shexiang Tongxin Dropping (SXTXD) has been shown to significantly augment the therapeutic efficacy of MSC-derived exosomes (MSC-EXOs) in attenuating cardiac injury in I/R mice. MSC-EXOs effectively restored the repressed miR-182/miR-199a-3p expressions and activated TLR4/CD44 expressions in I/R mice, while SXTXD pretreatment remarkably strengthened the efficiency of MSC-EXOs. Moreover, SXTXD pretreatment notably reinforced the capability of MSC-EXOs to maintain cardiac parameters, including iNOS and interleukin-1β (IL-1β). Furthermore, the luciferase assay indicated that miR-182-5p and miR-199a-3p effectively suppressed the luciferase activities of TLR4 and CD44, respectively, through binding to the 3´ UTR. The overexpression of miR-182-5p and miR-199a-3p significantly suppressed the expression of TLR4 and CD44 in H2C6 and RAW264.7 cells. Conclusion: In conclusion, our investigation indicates that MSC-derived exosomes, pretreated with SXTXD, hold promise in mitigating cardiac I/R injury by modulating inflammatory responses through the miR-182-5p/TLR4 axis and miR-199a-3p/CD44 axis. Influenza remains one of the most serious infectious diseases. Gallic acid is one of the most common and representative phenolic acids found in various plants. This is an interesting subject to explore how gallic acid could inhibit H1N1 influenza virus infection by reducing the production of virulent proteins and interrupting autophagy machinery for influenza virus replication on the host cell. Cellular viability was assessed by XTT assay. The inhibitory effects on the H1N1 influenza virus were assessed by hemagglutination assay, plaque assay, and qRT‐PCR. Western blot analysis was used for detecting protein levels of M1, M2, NP, LC3B, and beclin‐1. Autophagy activity was demonstrated by acridine orange staining assay. The result demonstrated that there was no cytotoxic effect of gallic acid on A549 cells, and gallic acid could restore the cellular viability of H1N1 influenza virus‐infected A549 cells within the experimental concentration treatment. Moreover, gallic acid could effectively restrain viral activity of the H1N1 influenza virus. After the treatment of gallic acid, the production of virulent H1N1 influenza virus proteins, that is, M1, M2, and NP protein were reduced. As for autophagic mechanism, both of the LC3B II conversion and the level ratio of LC3B II to LC3B I were notably decreased. The acridine orange staining assay also revealed decreased accumulation of autophagosomes in H1N1 influenza virus‐infected cells. Summary: Background and Aims: We aimed to define gender‐specific, optimal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) cut‐off values for the prediction of significant liver histological changes (SLHC) in Chinese patients with grey zone (GZ) chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and normal ALT. Methods: In a retrospective study, we included 1101 consecutive patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT assigned to training or internal validation cohorts. We included an independent cohort of 842 patients for external validation. We performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, smoothed curve fitting, and threshold effect analyses to determine optimal ALT cut‐off values. Area under the curve (AUC) values were calculated to assess their predictive performance. Results: A proportion of 79.3% of patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT (≤40 U/L) had SLHC. ROC curve analysis initially identified optimal ALT cut‐off values of 29 U/L (male) and 22 U/L (female). After smoothed curve fitting and threshold effect analyses, new optimal cut‐off values were 27 U/L for males and 24 U/L for females. AUCs for these values were 0.836 (male) and 0.833 (female) in the internal validation cohort, and 0.849 (male) and 0.844 (female) in the external validation cohort. The accuracy and discriminative ability of the newly defined ALT cut‐off values were greater than those of the current recommendations. Conclusion: This study established novel optimal ALT cut‐off values for more precise prediction of SLHC among Chinese patients with GZ CHB and normal ALT levels. Alveolar epithelial cell (AEC) necroptosis is critical to disrupt the alveolar barrier and provoke acute lung injury (ALI). Here, we define calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), the most abundant endogenous neuropeptide in the lung, as a novel modulator of AEC necroptosis in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced ALI. Upon LPS‐induced ALI, overexpression of Cgrp significantly mitigates the inflammatory response, alleviates lung tissue damage, and decreases AEC necroptosis. Similarly, CGRP alleviated AEC necroptosis under the LPS challenge in vitro. Previously, we identified that long optic atrophy 1 (L‐OPA1) deficiency mediates mitochondrial fragmentation, leading to AEC necroptosis. In this study, we discovered that CGRP positively regulated mitochondrial fusion through stabilizing L‐OPA1. Mechanistically, we elucidate that CGRP activates AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK). Furthermore, the blockade of AMPK compromised the protective effect of CGRP against AEC necroptosis following the LPS challenge. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) through inhibition of antigen presentation and subsequent reduction in T cell activation. Psoriasis relapse after antimalarial therapy have been reported in up to 18% of patients with psoriasis. Here, we explored the role of HCQ on exacerbating dermatitis utilizing an imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis mouse model. Thirty-six C57BL/6 female mice were divided into six groups: wild-type control, IMQ-Only, pre-treat HCQ (30 mg/kg and 60 mg/kg HCQ), and co-treat HCQ with IMQ (30 mg/kg and 60 mg/kg HCQ). Besides control, all were topically treated with IMQ for 5 days. Pharmacological effects and mechanisms of HCQ were assessed by clinical severity of dermatitis, histopathology, and flow cytometry. HaCaT cells were co-treated with both HCQ and recombinant IL-17A, followed by the detection of proinflammatory cytokine expression and gene profiles through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and next-generation sequencing. In the pre-treated and co-treated HCQ groups, skin redness and scaling were significantly increased compared to the IMQ-Only group, and Th17 cell expression was also upregulated. Acanthosis and CD11b+IL23+ dendritic cell (DC) infiltration were observed in the HCQ treatment group. IL-6 overexpression was detected in both the HaCaT cells and skin from the experimental mice. Psoriasis-related genes were regulated after being co-treated with HCQ and recombinant IL-17A in HaCaT cells. HCQ exacerbates psoriasis-like skin inflammation by increasing the expression of IL-6, stimulating DC infiltration, and promoting Th17 expression in the microenvironment of the skin. Soybean residue, as a nutritionally rich byproduct, possesses a high feeding value. However, due to limitations in preservation and utilization technologies, soybean residue is prone to issues such as decay, nutrient loss, and low absorption and utilization rates. The use of fermentation technology can reduce the content of anti-nutritional factors in soybean residue, produce antioxidant and antibacterial active substances, improve utilization efficiency, extend storage time, enhance feeding safety, and contribute to the health of livestock and poultry. The article summarizes the nutritional composition, influencing factors, and applications in ruminant animal production of fermented soybean residue, aiming to provide a reference for popularization and utilization of fermented soybean residue in ruminant production. The fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is a generalized psychological problem among cancer patients and their spouses. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of cancer recurrence fear among breast cancer patients and their spouses, as well as its predictive factors. Methods: A total of 155 breast cancer patients and their partners between March 2022 to Feb 2023 were selected from Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University. The survey was investigated by fear of progression questionnaire-short form (FoP‑Q‑SF), fear of progression questionnaire‐short form for partners (FoP‐Q‐SF/P), family resilience questionnaire (FaRE), and health literacy management scale (HeLMS). Predictors were assessed using univariate and multivariable regression analyses. Results: 52.9% (n=82) of breast cancer patients and 51.6% (n=80) of their spouses experienced high levels of fear of cancer recurrence (FCR). There was a positive correlation between the FCR of the patients and their spouses, while family resilience and health literacy were statistically significant negative predictive factors for breast cancer patients' fear of cancer recurrence. Conclusion: In summary, the study found that the partner's FCR, health literacy and family resilience were closely related to the FCR in breast cancer patients. Therefore, healthcare workers can reduce the patient's FCR by reducing the FCR in spouses, improving patients' health literacy and family resilience in the future. In practical application, these findings hold significant implications for developing comprehensive care plans and interventions targeting FCR in breast cancer patients. By focusing on patients' partners and providing appropriate support and resources, healthcare professionals can promote patients' psychological well-being and overall health, leading to improved quality of life. Purpose: Cardiogenic shock is associated with high mortality. In refractory shock, it is unclear if mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices improve survival. We conducted a network meta-analysis to determine which MCS devices confers greatest benefit. Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus databases through 27 August 2023 for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and propensity score-matched studies (PSMs). We conducted frequentist network meta-analysis, investigating mortality (either 30 days or in-hospital) as the primary outcome. We assessed risk of bias (Cochrane risk of bias 2.0 tool/Newcastle–Ottawa Scale) and as sensitivity analysis reconstructed survival data from published survival curves for a one-stage unadjusted individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis using a stratified Cox model. Results: We included 38 studies (48,749 patients), mostly reporting on patients with Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention shock stages C–E cardiogenic shock. Compared with no MCS, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation with intra-aortic balloon pump (ECMO-IABP; network odds ratio [OR]: 0.54, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.33–0.86, moderate certainty) was associated with lower mortality. There were no differences in mortality between ECMO, IABP, microaxial ventricular assist device (mVAD), ECMO-mVAD, centrifugal VAD, or mVAD-IABP and no MCS (all very low certainty). Our one-stage IPD survival meta-analysis based on the stratified Cox model found only ECMO-IABP was associated with lower mortality (hazard ratio, HR, 0.55, 95% CI 0.46–0.66). Conclusion: In patients with cardiogenic shock, ECMO-IABP may reduce mortality, while other MCS devices did not reduce mortality. Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is widely spread in China Mainland, seriously threatening the health of infants and young children. We develop a meta‐population model that includes both local and ecdemic populations to study the impacts of fomites and immigration on the transmission of HFMD in Shanghai. The model includes both direct transmission between susceptible and infected individuals (asymptomatic or symptomatic) and indirect transmission via fomites. The forward bifurcation shows that if the basic reproduction number is less than unity, the epidemic will die out; otherwise, the epidemic will spread. The fitting results show that the basic reproduction numbers of the local population and the ecdemic population are 1.4696 and 1.7288, respectively. Sensitivity analysis of the basic reproduction number showed that there was a high correlation between the basic reproduction number and the transmission rate of asymptomatic infected individuals, as well as the parameters related to the fomites (such as indirect transmission rate and virus shedding rate). Hence, asymptomatic infected individuals and fomites have a significant impact on the new HFMD infection. The numerical simulations on the prevention and control strategy show that reducing the transmission rate between susceptible and asymptomatic infected individuals or reducing the fomites can delay the outbreak of the epidemic and weaken the severity of HFMD. Clean (green) hydrogen can be generated via water electrolysis using photovoltaic, wind, hydropower, or decarbonized grid electricity. However, there is a lack of environmental and economic trade-offs for alternative production in the low-carbon transition. This study presents an assessment framework for analyzing the environmental-economic tradeoff indicators of replacing traditional hydrogen production pathways with green alternatives, with an illustrative example drawn from the baseline scenario in which green hydrogen replaces coal for hydrogen production in China. The production system for green hydrogen in China will be competitive with traditional methods by 2030, leading to a significant transition. The priority order of the renewable energy technology portfolio for hydrogen production via water electrolysis is PV-ALK > WP-ALK > WP-PEM > PV-PEM. Regions with high trade-off indicators have the comprehensive benefit of promoting green hydrogen substitution, and Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, and Xinjiang have lower decarbonization costs and can obtain better abatement benefits. Two lanthanide complexes with formulae [DyIII(LN5)(pentafluoro-PhO)3] (1) and [DyIII(LN5)(2,6-difluoro-PhO)2](BPh4) (2) (LN5 = 2,14-dimethyl-3,6,10,13,19-pentaazabicyclo[13.3.1]nonadecal (19),2,13,15,17-pentaene) were structurally and magnetically characterized. DyIII ions lie in the cavity of a five coordinate nitrogen macrocycle, and in combination with the introduction of multi-fluorinated monodentate phenoxyl coligands a high axiality coordination symmetry is built. Using the pentafluorophenol co-ligand, complex 1 with a D2d coordination environment, is obtained and displays moderate single-molecule magnets (SMMs) behavior. When difluorophenol co-ligands were used, a higher local axisymmetric pentagonal bipyramidal coordination geometry was observed in complex 2, which displays apparent slow magnetic relaxation behavior with a hysteresis temperature of up to 5 K. Further magnetic studies of diluted samples combined with ab initio calculations indicate that the high axiality plays a crucial role in suppressing quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM) and consequently results in good slow magnetic relaxation behavior. Different fluoro-substituted phenoxyl co-ligands have phenoloxy oxygen atoms with different electrostatic potentials as well as a different number of phenoloxy coligands along the magnetic axis, resulting in different ligand field strengths and coordination symmetries. Transition-metal selenides are considered promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries due to their high theoretical capacity based on multielectron conversion reactions. However, their low intrinsic electrical conductivity and severe volume variations result in poor cycling performance and rate capability. Herein, a composite material of urchin-like hierarchical spheres in which FeSe2 embedded in TiN/C covered by in situ grown carbon nanotubes (denoted as FeSe2@TiN/C@CNTs) was designed and fabricated using a facile sol–gel, carbonization, and selenization process. The carbon matrix can disperse FeSe2 to prevent serious agglomeration, while TiN and CNTs could enhance the electrical conductivity of the composites. Additionally, TiN, carbon, and CNTs can buffer volume expansion during the charge/discharge process. Benefiting from the synergistic effects of FeSe2, carbon, TiN, and CNTs, the hybrid urchin-like FeSe2@TiN/C@CNTs spheres exhibit excellent cycling stability and ultrafast pseudocapacitive sodium-ion storage capability. The FeSe2@TiN/C@CNTs electrode delivers reversible capacity of 343.5 mA h g−1 at 200 mA g−1 for 1000 cycles, and a rate capability of 262.5 mA h g−1 at a high current density of 2 A g−1. Supported by the detailed kinetic analysis, the superior sodium-ion storage performance is attributed to the fast charge transfer rate and pseudocapacitive sodium-ion storage mechanism.
