Innovations in the field of robotics and image processing have enabled robotic welding to slowly become the new standard for companies that are heavily invested in the process. However, the cost of such autonomous systems makes them accessible to only the elite; hence, without a sizeable investment, smaller companies are left behind the competition. The article describes a cost-effective solution to the process of autonomous welding through the use of a structured light set up along with an open-source robot and its design issues. A prototype of the proposed system has been developed with the results available.

Identification of the seam to be welded in automatic welding is an important challenge, especially on a complex 3D surface. At present, most studies on weld extraction are for butt joints and fillet joints. Few studies focus on D-type welds, which connect to pipelines or pressure vessels. In this paper, a method of identification and extraction of pipeline joint welds based on 3D point clouds is proposed. First, the problem that the surface of pipe fittings cannot be effectively stitched owing to lack of markings is solved by putting marker points on the surface to allow accurate splicing of the point cloud. Second, according to the contour feature information of the workpiece, a processing method for D-type welding seams is proposed. Finally, a boundary extraction algorithm based on the point cloud normal is used to obtain the point cloud of the weld. The experimental results show that this method can effectively extract the weld. The running time for the point cloud weld extraction method is less than half that of the existing methods. The accuracy of the proposed method is improved in all three directions: by 28.2% in the X direction, 19.1% in the Y direction and 16.0% in the Z direction. Moreover, this method is convenient for transforming weld coordinates to robot-based coordinates for the automatic welding of spatially complex welds.

U ovom je radu obrađena problematika TIG zavarivanja nehrđajućih čelika bez korijenske zaštite. Svrha rada je odrediti iznos unesene topline za koji nije potrebna korijenska zaštita. Rad se sastoji od dva dijela teorijskog i praktičnog. U teorijskom dijelu opisan je TIG postupak s posebnim naglaskom na tehnologiju zavarivanja visokolegiranih austenitnih Cr-Ni čelika, opremu potrebnu za uspješnu primjenu i parametre zavarivanja. Opisan je značaj korijenske zaštite i zaštitni plinovi koji se koriste za korijensku zaštitu. Proučavani su zahtjevi norme HRN EN ISO 15614-1 koji definiraju primjenu korijenske zaštite. U eksperimentalnom dijelu provedeno je automatizirano TIG navarivanje uzoraka izrezanih iz cijevi od nehrđajućeg čelika AISI 304 s različitim unosima topline. TIG navarivanje izvodilo se bez primjene korijenske zaštite. Nakon vizualne kontrole izrađeni su makroizbrusci na kojima se vidi poprečni presjek navara. Proučavane su geometrijske značajke i obojenja površine materijala s korijenske strane za pojedine razine unosa topline. Povećanje unosa topline utjecalo je na povećanje geometrijskih značajki navara. Kod najmanjeg unosa topline pojavilo se obojenje površine materijala s korijenske strane što ukazuje na potrebu za korijenskom zaštitom iako je debljina podloge bila veća od 5 mm za koju prema normi HRN EN ISO 15614-1 nije potrebna korijenska zaštita. This paper deals with the problem of TIG welding on stainless steels without root protection. The purpose of this work is to determine the amount of heat input for which no root protection is required. The paper consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the TIG process with special emphasis on the welding technology of high-alloyed austenitic Cr-Ni steels, the equipment required for successful application and the welding parameters. The significance of root protection and shielding gases used for root protection are described. The requirements of the HRN EN ISO 15614-1 standard defining the application of root protection have been studied. In the experimental part, automated TIG bead on plate welding of AISI 304 stainless steel tube with different heat inputs was performed. TIG welding was performed without the application of root protection. After visual inspection, macrographs were made on which the cross-section of the weld can be seen. The geometrical characteristics of the weld crosssection and heat tints on the root side of the material were studied for different heat input levels. The increase in heat input affected the increase in the geometrical characteristics of the welds. At the lowest heat input, heat tints on the root side surface of the material appeared, which indicates the need for root protection, although the thickness of the material backing support was greater than 5 mm, for which root protection is not required according to HRN EN ISO 15614-1.

На даний час атомна енергія є невід’ємною частиною енергетики України. По всій країни працюють 4 станції, які використовують реактори ВВЕР – 1000 (без врахування Чорнобильської АЕС та двох енергоблоків Рівненьскої АЕС, які використовують ВВЕР – 440), тому обслуговування та ремонт реакторів є однією з головних задач експлуатаціїї АЕС. Саме з цієї причини автоматизація та вибір способу наплавлення, який буде відповідати нормам якості роботи реактору, стає на перше місце. At present, nuclear energy is an integral part of Ukraine's energy. There are 4 VVER-1000 reactors operating across the country (excluding Chornobyl NPPs and two Rivne NPPs using VVER-440), so maintenance and repair of reactors is one of the main tasks of NPP operation. For this reason, automation and the choice of the method of surfacing, which will meet the quality standards of the reactor, comes first.

U ovom je radu obrađena problematika TIG zavarivanja materijala iz nehrđajućih čelika. U teorijskom dijelu rada razrađena je podjela i primjena nehrđajućih čelika u zavarenim konstrukcijama, opisano ručno i automatizirano TIG zavarivanje, primjena i podjela zaštitnih plinova za TIG zavarivanje nehrđajućih čelika te ispitivanja otpornosti na koroziju kod zavarenih spojeva nehrđajućih čelika. U eksperimentalnom dijelu provedeno je automatizirano zavarivanje cijevi iz nehrđajućeg čelika (AISI 316L) uz primjenu dvaju različitih zaštitnih plinova (Inoxline H5 i Argon 4.8). Nakon vizualne kontrole izrađen je makroizbrusak na kojem se vidi presjek zavara u oba slučaja te je provedeno ispitivanje otpornosti na rupičastu koroziju. Cilj ovog eksperimentalnog rada bio je utvrditi razlike u geometriji zavara i otpornost na koroziju u dvama slučajevima u kojima je jedina razlika korišteni zaštitni plin. Nakon provedenog eksperimenta možemo zaključiti da je zavarivanje provedeno uz zaštitni plin Inoxline H5 te iste ostale parametre zavarivanja kao i u slučaju s Argon 4.8 kao zaštitnim plinom, ostvarilo bolju penetraciju i kvalitetu zavara te se pokazalo da zavareni spoj ima bolju i korozijsku postojanost. This paper deals with the problem of TIG welding materials from stainless steels. The theoretical part of the paper deals with the division and application of stainless steels in welded constructions, and describes manual and automated TIG welding, the application and distribution of shielding gases for TIG welding of stainless steels, and corrosion resistance tests on welded joints of stainless steels. In the experimental part, an automated welding of stainless steel pipes (AISI 316L) was carried out using two different shielding gases (Inoxline H5 and Argon 4.8). After visual control, a macroscopic section was created that shows a cross-sectional image of the weld in both cases, and a pitting corrosion resistance test was performed. The aim of this experimental paper was to determine the differences in the weld geometry and corrosion resistance in the two cases in which different shielding gases were used. The results of the experiment indicate that the welding carried out with Inoxline H5 shielding gas, using the same welding parameters as in the case of Argon 4.8, achieved better penetration and quality of the weld, and proved that the welded joint has better corrosion resistance.

O processo de soldagem gera uma grande exposição do soldador a materiais nocivos a saúde, como fumo, faíscas, radiação e altas temperaturas geradas pela fusão no poço de solda. Ao automatizar esse processo, a figura do soldador, que manuseia ativamente a tocha de soldagem e manualmente posiciona e realiza a trajetória da soldagem, acaba sendo substituída pelo operador de soldagem. O operador de soldagem apenas informa à plataforma de soldagem os parâmetros necessários para execução do processo, ficando livre da exposição de materiais tóxicos e da atuação direta no sistema. Neste trabalho, o problema a ser tratado é como manter a distância da tocha em relação ao chanfro de soldagem de modo a obter um comprimento de arco de soldagem mais uniforme possível em uma situação de soldagem multi-passe. Essa distância pode variar devido à solda depositada em um passe anterior de solda, deformidades nas chapas de soldagem que possam acontecer, tanto no manuseio, como por dilatação ou um posicionamento não paralelo do sistema ao chanfro de soldagem feito pelo operador de solda. Ao corrigir essas variações, é esperada uma melhor qualidade de solda, com menor porosidade possível, além de evitar formação de trincas. Visto que um sistema de detecção de distância por visão computacional para a aplicação de interesse exige robustez, os resultados obtidos utilizando um sistema de câmera monocular e um ponto laser obtiveram resultados satisfatórios para facilitar a conversão das primitivas do domínio da imagem em pixeis para domínio real em escala métrica. The welding process expose the welder to harmful material such as smoke, sparks, radiation and high temperatures generated by the welding pool. By automating the welding process, the welder in the process is changed by the welding operator. The welding operator does not operate the torch manually to make a correctly trajectory like the welder, but welding operator just adjusts the welding parameters to execute the process, without exposure of toxic materials. In this work, the problem to be addressed is how to maintain the distance of the torch from the welding bevel to obtain a weld arc length more uniform possible in a multipass welding situation. This distance may vary due to the solder deposited in a previous soldering pass, deformities in the welding plates that may occur, both in handling, as well as by expansion or a non-parallel system's positioning to the welding bevel made by the welding operator. Correcting these variations, a better weld quality is expected, with lower possible porosity and avoid cracking. Once distance detection system by a computer vision for the application of interest requires robustness, the results obtained using a monocular camera system and a laser dot have obtained satisfactory results to facilitate the conversion of the image domain primitives to pixels for real domain in metric scale.

The paper shows the application of an optical measuring system to a trajectory tracking problem with the aim of training a welding robot in a collaborative man-machine welding station. The optical system allows a fast and reliable training of the welding tasks imparted by the human co-worker. An algorithm developed for this application filters inaccurate and noisy data, re-orders points and computes a trajectory suitable for a welding robot. This can shorten time required for programming. The industrial relevance of this application is twofold: on one side it increases the safety of human workers by leaving the robot to perform the risky tasks, namely the welding, on the other side it guarantees higher repeatability than manual execution.

No Brasil, a soldagem de tubulações tem sido praticamente de forma manual, entretanto, a utilização de processos de soldagem automatizados têm crescido muito nos últimos anos, contribuindo para o maior controle dos parâmetros de soldagem, e conseqüentemente, a possibilidade de obtenção de juntas soldadas com melhores propriedades mecânicas. A soldagem de tubulações com aço API 5L X80 ainda vem sendo avaliada no Brasil no que diz respeito aos melhores procedimentos, parâmetros e processos de soldagem; a aplicação de processos automatizados nas condições específicas de campo constitui em uma opção ainda incipiente no país por se discutir ainda a relação custo/benefício com a sua implantação. Logo, o objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar o comportamento na ZTA de juntas soldadas do aço API 5L X80 utilizados para transporte de petróleo e gás quando submetidos à soldagem com diferentes parâmetros, procedimentos e processos de soldagem, incluindo o processo automatizado; os resultados indicam além da redução da extensão e do tamanho de grão da ZTA a preservação da estrutura bainítica do metal de base nesta região nas soldagem executadas com processos automatizados.The welding of pipes has been largely manual in Brazil, however, the use of automated welding processes have greatly increased in recent years, contributing to greater control of welding parameters, and consequently, the possibility of obtaining welded joints with better mechanical properties. The welding of pipes of API 5L X80 steel has been evaluated in Brazil considering to best practices, parameters and welding processes; the implementation of automated processes in the specific field conditions is relevant project and innovative design in this area. Therefore, the objective is to evaluate the behavior in the HAZ of the API 5L X80 steel used for transporting oil and gas when subjected to automated welding processes; the results indicated besides the reduction of HAZ extent grain size the preservation of bainitic structure in this region for robotic welding process.

O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar as características da zona termicamente afetada (ZTA) e a microestrutura e propriedades mecânicas de metais de solda de juntas soldadas do aço API 5L X80, obtidos para quatro diferentes procedimentos de soldagem utilizando processos manuais e automatizados. Para isto, chapas do referido aço foram soldadas por processo manual ao Arco Elétrico com Eletrodo Revestido (SMAW), utilizando 473 e 673 K como temperaturas de interpasses e o eletrodo celulósico AWS E8010-G como consumível; por processo ao Arco Elétrico com Arame Tubular (FCAW) robotizado, utilizando o arame AWS E71T- 1C como metal de adição e argônio com 25%CO2 como gás de proteção; por processo a Arco Elétrico com Eletrodo de Tungstênio (GTAW) mecanizado na raiz da solda, usando o arame ER70S-3 e argônio como gás de proteção. As análises microestruturais foram relacionadas com os resultados de ensaios de impacto Charpy nos metais de solda e com os perfis de microdureza Vickers ao longo da junta soldada. Os resultados indicaram maiores percentuais de Ferrita Acicular e maiores valores de resistência ao impacto nos metais de solda e uma menor extensão e granulometria da ZTA, associado ao procedimento de soldagem utilizando processo automatizado com maior velocidade de soldagem.The objective of this work was to evaluate the heat affected zone characteristics and weld metals microstructure and mechanical properties of API 5L X80 steel welded joints, obtained for four different welding procedures using manual and automated processes. For this, plates of this steel were welded by manual Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process with interpasses temperatures of 473 e 673 K, and using AWS E8010-G electrode as filler metals; robotized Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) process, using AWS E71T-1C wire and Ar25%CO2 as consumable and mechanized Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process, for the root pass using AWS ER70S-3 and Ar as consumable .The microstructural analysis was related with the weld metals Charpy impact test results and with the welded joint Vickers microhardness profiles. The results indicated that weld metals obtained by automatized welding process presented a shorter and more refined heat affected zone and a weld metal with greatest Acicular Ferrite percentiles which promoted the best results of the impact test.
