This paper introduces the Fish 3D Locomotion app (F3LA), a Python‐based, Graphical User Interface (GUI)‐equipped tool designed to automate behavioral endpoint extraction in zebrafish locomotion assays. Building on our previous work, which utilized a specialized aquatic tank with a mirror and a single camera for fish movement tracking in three dimensions, F3LA significantly enhances data processing efficiency. Its accuracy was tested by reanalyzing and comprehensively comparing the calculated data with the previously published data from prior publications. From the comparison results, 90% of endpoints showed a similar statistical difference result. These minor differences were due to the different starting points for the dataset and updated calculation formulas that are implemented in F3LA. In addition, shoaling area or shoaling volume calculations are also included in F3LA as a new feature that can serve as sensitive indicators of social cohesion, group dynamics, or stress responses, offering insights into neuropsychological conditions or the effects of pharmacological interventions. Furthermore, F3LA offers a marked improvement over manual operations, being at least five times faster, while maintaining consistent accuracy as it reduces human‐induced errors, ensuring a higher degree of reliability in the results. Finally, the potency of F3LA was tested to evaluate the toxicities of 14 rare earth elements (REEs) to the adult zebrafish behaviors. Based on the results, our findings suggested that each tested REE altered fish behaviors in different patterns and magnitudes to each other. However, among the tested light rare earth elements (LREEs), neodymium was demonstrated to cause more relatively severe behavior alterations than other LREEs, indicated by the statistically higher value of entropy (0.2695 ± 0.04977 (mean with a standard deviation)) than the control group (0.2352 ± 0.05896). Meanwhile, in terms of heavy rare earth elements (HREEs), erbium seemed to lead to more distinct behavior toxicities than other HREEs, which was shown by the statistically lower level of fractal dimension (2.022 ± 0.3412) than the untreated group (2.255 ± 0.1661). Taken together, F3LA's development marks a significant advance in high‐throughput toxicological and pharmacological assessments in zebrafish, leveraging three‐dimensional locomotion data for a more comprehensive analysis of fish behavior performance, providing a significant contribution to research in various fields. Background: Despite the known glycemic benefits of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D), the attitudinal and behavioral changes underlying these glycemic improvements remain understudied. This study aimed to qualitatively explore these changes among a sample of adults with T2D. Methods: In-depth, semistructured interviews were conducted with adults with T2D who had been using CGM for 3–6 months as part of a larger community project in Ohio. Thematic analysis was used to identify themes across participants' experiences. Results: A total of 34 participants provided insights into their experiences with CGM. Six primary themes emerged: (1) Making the Invisible Visible, highlighting the newfound awareness of T2D in daily life. (2) Effective Decision-Making, emphasizing the use of real-time glucose data for immediate and long-term choices. (3) Enhanced Self-Efficacy, describing a renewed sense of control and motivation. (4) Diabetes-Related Diet Modifications. (5) Changes in Physical Activity. (6) Changes in Medication Taking. Conclusions: Participants reported a far-reaching impact of CGM on their daily lives, with many stating that CGM fostered a greater understanding of diabetes and prompted positive behavior changes. The observed attitudinal and behavioral shifts likely contributed synergistically to the significant glycemic benefits observed over the study period. Backgrounds: Despite a wide spectrum of contraceptive methods for women, the unintended pregnancy rate remains high (45% in the US), with 50% resulting in abortion. Currently, 20% of global contraceptive use is male‐directed, with a wide variation among countries due to limited availability and lack of efficacy. Worldwide studies indicate that >50% of men would opt to use a reversible method, and 90% of women would rely on their partner to use a contraceptive. Additional reasons for novel male contraceptive methods to be available include the increased life expectancy, sharing the reproductive risks among partners, social issues, the lack of pharma industry involvement and the lack of opinion makers advocating for male contraception. Aim: The present guidelines aim to review the status regarding male contraception, the current state of the art to support the clinical practice, recommend minimal requirements for new male contraceptive development and provide and grade updated, evidence‐based recommendations from the European Society of Andrology (EAA) and the American Society of Andrology (ASA). Methods: An expert panel of academicians appointed by the EAA and the ASA generated a consensus guideline according to the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation) system. Results: Sixty evidence‐based and graded recommendations were produced on couple‐centered communication, behaviors, barrier methods, semen analysis and contraceptive efficacy, physical agents, surgical methods, actions before initiating male contraception, hormonal methods, non‐hormonal methods, vaccines, and social and ethical considerations. Conclusion: As gender roles transform and gender equity is established in relationships, the male contribution to family planning must be facilitated. Efficient and safe male‐directed methods must be evaluated and introduced into clinical practice, preferably reversible, either hormonal or non‐hormonal. From a future perspective, identifying new hormonal combinations, suitable testicular targets, and emerging vas occlusion methods will produce novel molecules and products for male contraception. Despite increased risk of morbidity and mortality among older adults due to preventable infectious diseases such as influenza, shingles, pneumonia, and COVID-19, many forego receiving some, if not all, of these vaccinations. This study examines vaccination motivators and deterrents for undervaccinated older adults in North Dakota (ND). Adults aged 65+ in ND were mailed a survey (n = 901) with questions gauging vaccination behaviors and perceptions, with 132 of these indicating not receiving certain vaccinations. Further questions assessed reasons they have not been vaccinated against the following diseases: influenza, shingles, pneumonia, and COVID-19 (e.g., "Concerned about side effects", "Vaccines are dangerous", "I'm healthy and I do not need it") and what would make it more likely to get a vaccine (e.g., "More information", "Doctor recommendation", "Easy access to vaccines"). Reasons for remaining unvaccinated varied by vaccine. For influenza and pneumococcal vaccines, respondents were more likely to indicate they are healthy and do not need the vaccine. For shingles and COVID-19, respondents were more likely to indicate concerns about side effects. Factors reported to motivate increasing the likelihood of getting a vaccine were receiving a doctor recommendation, receiving more information, and having a vaccine provided at no cost. These results contribute to our understanding of vaccination behaviors among older adults and underscore specific issues around which to frame interventions tailored to increase vaccine uptake for this population. Background: The use of Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) among gym members has become a significant concern due to their impact on physical training and performance. Research worldwide indicates a notable prevalence of AAS use among athletes and gym attendees, often involving substances that are neither safe nor legal. Objectives: This study aims to determine the prevalence of AAS use among gym attendees in Amman, Jordan, and to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors associated with AAS use. Methods: The study involved 399 participants from 35 randomly selected gyms in the metropolitan area of Amman, Jordan. A cluster sampling technique was used to select a diverse and representative sample of gym attendees. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire that assessed AAS use, knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral factors. Statistical analyses were conducted using chisquare tests to explore the relationships between AAS use and categorical variables, while logistic regression was employed to identify predictors of AAS use. Results: The analysis revealed significant associations between AAS use and various factors, including knowledge, attitudes, behavioral factors, and demographic variables such as gender, age, exercise frequency, reasons for exercise, and total exercise duration. The study identified key predictors of AAS use among gym attendees in Amman, highlighting the importance of demographic and behavioral factors. Conclusion: The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to address misconceptions and promote safer practices among gym-goers in Amman. The study provides critical insights that can guide the development of strategies, policy adjustments, and educational initiatives aimed at reducing AAS misuse and fostering a healthier gym culture in the region. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the sleep characteristics of children born preterm and the relationship between these characteristics and parental sleep quality. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the parents of children born preterm were administered the Child Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Results: The study included 89 children born preterm with a current mean age of 38.7±55 months. According to the CSHQ, 95.5% of children had a sleep disorder. According to the PSQI, 48.9% of the mothers, 35.3% of the fathers had poor sleep quality. Maternal and paternal total PSQI scores were significantly correlated (r=0.373, p=0.030). In regression analysis of factors that may affect total CSHQ score, sleep disorder was found to be associated with low maternal education, hemiplegia, no smoking in the home (p=0.001, p<0.001and p<0.001 respectively). When factors that may affect total PSQI score were examined by regression analysis, the odds of poor sleep quality were 5.5 times higher in mothers with a high education level, 4 times higher in mothers with a history of multiple pregnancy (p=0.006 and p=0.027). Conclusion: Our study revealed a high rate of sleep disorder in children with a history of preterm birth and high rates of poor sleep quality among their parents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sports betting and its associated problems are increasing rapidly. Moreover, it has been widely advertised and marketed, successfully reaching young adult males. This work aims to review recent publications regarding the relationship between marketing and sports betting perceptions and behaviors across different ages. For this purpose, a search in the PubMed database was set for 5 years (November 2014 – November 2019). The search terms included: "Sports betting AND children", "Sports betting AND young adult", "Sports betting AND adult". The search generated 131 articles, including some duplications. Once duplicates were eliminated, the titles and abstract analysis led to 21 references. To this, four more recent references were added to complement the introduction and discussion sections. The total number of references is 25. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (a) human study, (b) quantitative, experimental, clinical study, or review, (c) emphasis on the relationship between marketing and sports betting perceptions and behaviors, (d) specified number of subjects, (e) male or female gender, and (f) written in English (title and abstract). The findings indicated that: (1) marketing plays a significant role in normalizing gambling in sports, (2) policymakers should consider comprehensive approaches to reduce the exposure of sports betting advertising to young individuals, and (3) future studies should explore potential differences in results based on gender and developmental stage. Background Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) and schistosomiasis remain widely prevalent in Ethiopia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of STH and schistosomiasis among schoolchildren in Gidi Bench district (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Republic, Southwest Ethiopia) and the association with knowledge and health-related behaviors. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted. Stool samples, analyzed by the Kato-Katz technique and a knowledge, attitudes and practices questionnaire, were collected. Results Out of 611 participants (mean age 12.8±3.1 y), 129 (21.1%) were infected with schistosomiasis and 382 (62.5%) had STH. More than 30% (n=195, 31.9%) were infected with a single intestinal parasite, while 138 (22.6%) and 47 (7.7%) were infected with two or three parasitic infections, respectively. Boys and those who did not participate in school clubs had higher infection rates (p=0.05). Lower parasitic infection was associated with using a latrine when available, washing hands and vegetables and wearing shoes regularly. Higher rates of infection were found among those who reported swimming and washing cloths and utensils in the river regularly. Conclusions Schistosomiasis and STH were highly prevalent among schoolchildren in Gidi Bench district. Infection rates were associated with gender, lack of knowledge on parasitic infections and unhealthy behaviors. Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine whether the lifestyles of young consumers in Poland (Generation Z) are associated with their preferences regarding the attributes of foods with edible insects, and whether they can influence their willingness to consume new, innovative foods with edible insects. Design/methodology/approach: The empirical study was conducted by indirect interview method, via an online platform, among 749 students in Poland in 2023. Findings: Generation Z's acceptance of foods containing edible insects as a solution or support to the problem of finding new food ingredients with high nutritional value was correlated with pleasure orientation (among men), lack of attachment to the culinary traditions of the region of origin (among men and women), high nutritional value of food and high health awareness (among women). Research limitations/implications: The research has certain limitations. Despite the large size of the study group, the results obtained are not representative and cannot be generalised to the population of young adults (Generation Z) in Poland. Practical implications: Acceptance of new foods containing edible insects (fresh, frozen, dried, powdered e.g. meal) by young consumers (Generation Z) should be based on reliable information about their nutritional value and the possibility of satisfying their needs according to their lifestyle and perceived values. Social implications: The study effectively captured a range of lifestyle determinants, such as health awareness and its correlation with nutritional claims, pleasure orientation and its correlation with attractive taste and affordability (for men) and attractive appearance (for women). Originality/value: The research enriches the existing literature on entomophagy by highlighting the potential acceptability of insect-based foods among young adults, thereby contributing to broader discussions on sustainable food systems and environmental protection. This novel approach not only addresses current environmental and nutritional issues, but also provides a basis for future research and policy development aimed at improving food security and sustainability. Grounded in upper echelons theory, this research contributes to the current literature on SME digital transformation by leveraging empirical data from 372 SMEs in an emerging economy. The study investigates the influence of overconfident managers on digital transformation and its subsequent impact on sustainable competitive performance, with digital culture playing a moderating role. Our findings reveal that managerial overconfidence significantly influences digital transformation and sustainable competitive performance in SMEs. Digital transformation serves as a significant mediator of the relationship between managerial overconfidence and sustainable competitive performance. Additionally, digital culture strengthens the association between managerial overconfidence and digital transformation. Based on these insights, SMEs need to be aware of managerial traits and, in particular, need to focus on overconfident managers to embrace digitalization and enhance performance. Background: Head and neck cancer (HNC) incidence is on the rise, often diagnosed at late stage and associated with poor prognoses. Risk prediction tools have a potential role in prevention and early detection. Methods: The IARC‐ARCAGE European case–control study was used as the model development dataset. A clinical HNC risk prediction model using behavioral and demographic predictors was developed via multivariable logistic regression analyses. The model was then externally validated in the UK Biobank cohort. Model performance was tested using discrimination and calibration metrics. Results: 1926 HNC cases and 2043 controls were used for the development of the model. The development dataset model including sociodemographic, smoking, and alcohol variables had moderate discrimination, with an area under curve (AUC) value of 0.75 (95% CI, 0.74–0.77); the calibration slope (0.75) and tests were suggestive of good calibration. 384 616 UK Biobank participants (with 1177 HNC cases) were available for external validation of the model. Upon external validation, the model had an AUC of 0.62 (95% CI, 0.61–0.64). Conclusion: We developed and externally validated a HNC risk prediction model using the ARCAGE and UK Biobank studies, respectively. This model had moderate performance in the development population and acceptable performance in the validation dataset. Demographics and risk behaviors are strong predictors of HNC, and this model may be a helpful tool in primary dental care settings to promote prevention and determine recall intervals for dental examination. This work aimed to investigate the role of atractylenolide I (ATR) in resisting depression and its mechanism of action. The mouse model of depression was constructed through chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) method. After ATR intervention, changes in the depression-related behaviors of mice were detected through open field test and elevated plus maze. In addition, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted to detect inflammatory factor levels. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was performed to measure the mRNA levels of A1/A2 astrocyte markers. Furthermore, primary astrocytes were induced in vitro, and the A1 differentiation level was detected by ELISA and RT-qPCR assays. ATR improved the behaviors of CUMS mice and alleviated the depression symptoms. Moreover, it reduced tissue inflammation, inhibited the A1 differentiation of astrocytes, and decreased the mRNA levels of A1 markers. After NLRP3 knockout, the effects of ATR were suppressed. Similarly, in vitro experimental results also revealed that ATR suppressed the A1 differentiation of astrocytes. Based on molecular dynamics and small molecule-protein docking results, ATR mainly targeted NLRP3 and suppressed the NLRP3-mediated A1 differentiation. We discover that ATR can target NLRP3 to suppress A1 differentiation of astrocytes, restrain tissue inflammation, and improve the depression symptoms in mice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background/Objectives: The association between healthy lifestyle behaviors and their effect on quality of life among patients with COPD remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the lifestyle behaviors and their association with the disease-specific quality of life among a primary care population with COPD in Greece. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 236 participants aged 40 years and older from the COCARE COPD study. The healthy lifestyle index (HLI) was created based on smoking, alcohol consumption, BMI, physical activity, and sleep duration, with each factor categorized as either healthy (1) or unhealthy (0). The HLI ranged from 0 (least healthy) to 5 (healthiest). COPD-specific quality of life was assessed using the COPD assessment test (CAT), where higher scores indicate poorer health status. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the association between HLI and CAT scores, adjusting for confounders. Results: Half of the participants were non-smokers or former smokers, while 92% reported consuming low levels of alcohol (less than 14 units per week). Additionally, 56% had a BMI below 30, indicating they were not obese. Surprisingly, only 32% engaged in regular exercise, with at least 150 min per week, and only 25% reported getting adequate sleep, ranging from 7 to 9 h per night. Importantly, poorer health status was inversely associated with non/former smoking (OR: 0.543, 95% CI: 0.282–1.049), physical activity (OR: 0.238, 95% CI: 0.122–0.463), and adequate sleep (OR: 0.337, 95% CI: 0.160–0.710). Patients with higher HLI scores were less likely to have poor health status. Conclusions: In conclusion, our findings indicate that a significant proportion of patients with COPD failed to adhere to a minimum of three out of five healthy behaviors. Additionally, a higher number of healthy lifestyle factors defined by a high HLI score were independently associated with a better disease-specific quality of life. This is particularly important for COPD where quality of life is in the epicenter of management. Therefore, healthcare providers could significantly improve the management of COPD and patient outcomes by targeting and improving these lifestyle behaviors with targeted and holistic intervention strategies. Introduction: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals have turned to peer-led online depression support groups (DSGs) to cope with depressive symptoms. However, relatively little research has articulated how use of DSGs may relate to specific behaviors associated with depression. This study assessed healthy behaviors (healthy support-seeking, healthy normalization, problem-solving) and unhealthy behaviors (unhealthy support-seeking, adverse normalization, co-rumination) associated with the use of peer-led DSGs. Method: Participants (N = 525) were recruited through the Qualtrics platform, and measures of depressive symptoms, self-reported social media use, DSG use, and healthy/unhealthy DSG behaviors were administered online. Path analysis estimated the relations of DSG use to each of the six behaviors. Results: Results showed that all six DSG behaviors were positively associated with DSG use (ps <.001). Standardized coefficients ranged from 0.18 to 0.49 for healthy outcomes and from 0.28 to 0.36 for the unhealthy outcomes. Greater use of DSGs was associated with higher levels of all healthy and unhealthy behaviors. Education level moderated the relation of DSG use to the three unhealthy behaviors, with higher education leading to stronger relations between DSG use and all three unhealthy behaviors. Simple Summary: An understanding of tabanid alighting and feeding behavior on vertebrate hosts may result in more effective disease management and control strategies. The purpose of this study was to determine the tabanid behavior of beef cattle. The alighting behavior, time of day, duration of tabanid feeding on beef cattle, as well as variables associated with tabanid infestation, were recorded. According to the results, the lower leg was the most tabanids infested location. The greatest number of tabanids landing on cattle occurred at midday. Temperature was the most important factor for tabanids landing on hosts. To forecast the tabanids' reactions to environmental factors, regression analysis was carried out. Tabanidae (horse flies and deer flies) are hematophagous insects that cause direct and indirect damage to animal production. The aims of this study were to determine the preferred site, time of day, and duration of tabanid feeding on beef cattle and identify factors related to infestation by tabanids. The population of tabanids was surveyed on certain body parts of the beef cattle (fore udder, tail, navel, leg, dewlap, body, and under) during the morning hours (9.00–10.30 a.m.), midday (12.00–13.30 a.m.), and afternoon (15.30–17.00 p.m.) every day for 10 days. The findings showed that two genera, Tabanus Linnaeus, 1758, and Chrysops Meigen, 1803, landed on the cows. The leg was statistically significantly the most frequent landing site for tabanids (15.067 ± 7.54) compared with other parts. The average feeding duration for each insect was 2.76 ± 1.77 min. The results showed that a significant number of tabanids were present during midday, as compared with the morning and afternoon. Temperature was found to be positively associated with fly abundance. A regression model was derived in this study (y = 4.23x − 116.09). This information is important for tabanid control and prevention in beef cattle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

When participants enrolled in an HIV prevention trial hold a preventive misconception (PM) – expectations that experimental interventions will confer protection from HIV infection – they may engage in behaviors that increase their risk of acquiring HIV. This can raise ethical concerns about whether those enrolled in the trial understand the nature of participation and their safety. Consequently, we systematically evaluated the prevalence of PM and its association with risk behaviors in a trial examining three candidate regimens for oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in which all participants received at least one antiretroviral agent. Overall, trial participants exhibited relatively high preventive expectations that may be associated with an increase in risk behaviors among men who have sex with men. In addition, we identified substantial site variability in PM that necessitates future research to uncover its source. This will allow appropriate measures to be taken to mitigate PM and help ensure that participants have an accurate understanding of the potential risks and benefits of trial participation throughout the course of a trial. Lebanon is a country in the Middle East that had been witnessing nutrition transition to a westernized diet high in trans fats (TFs) and saturated fatty acids (TFAs) that had been linked to cardiovascular diseases and many other health issues. This study examines TF‐related awareness, knowledge, and self‐reported behaviors among a sample of Lebanese adults aged between 18 and 64 years, as well as their association with sociodemographic factors and anthropometric measurements. Using a multicomponent questionnaire, a cross‐sectional study was conducted online, across all Lebanese regions based on a convenience sampling method (n = 401). Factors associated with TF‐related awareness, knowledge, and behaviors were examined by multivariate linear regression analysis. The study highlighted specific gaps in TF‐related awareness, knowledge, and behavioral practices as well as differences by sociodemographic factors. Most of the participants (36%) had heard of partly hydrogenated oils (PHOs) rather than TFs (49%). A higher proportion of respondents (54%) said they understood a little about TFs, the majority had inadequate knowledge about the foods that contain TFs, and 44% said they would not give up eating their favorite snack even if they knew it contains TFs. Overall, consumers' awareness and knowledge about TFs are rather low and the majority had fair behavioral practices. In addition, being a woman and having higher education level were significantly associated with higher levels of TFs awareness, knowledge, and behavior scores. Higher behavior scores were shown in older participants, married, and those who had part‐time jobs, whereas having higher income and normal weight were significantly associated with higher awareness scores. These findings offer valuable insight into TF‐related awareness, knowledge, and behaviors in a sample of Lebanese adults and provide key information that could spur the development of evidence‐based TFs reduction interventions specific to the Middle East. Amaç: Araştırmada kadınlarda fertilite farkındalığının ve fertiliteyi etkileyen yaşam biçimi davranışlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma kesitsel tanımlayıcı tiptedir. Örneklemi, Ağustos-Ekim 2022 tarihleri arasında Sivas Akıncılar İlçe Aile Sağlığı Merkezine başvuran, 20-49 yaş aralığında ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 305 kadın oluşturmuştur. Veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Fertilite Farkındalık Ölçeği (FFÖ) ve Sağlıklı Yaşam Biçimi Davranışları Ölçeği-II (SYBDÖ-II) ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; tanımlayıcı istatistik analizi, tek yönlü varyans analizi, bağımsız gruplarda t testi, ki-kare testi ve pearson kolerasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Kadınların yaş ortalaması 36,41±7,85 dir. FFÖ puan ortalaması 64,17±11,63; bedensel farkındalık ortalaması 36,46±6,82; bilişsel farkındalık ortalaması 27,71±6,30’dur. Kadınların %59,6’sı orta, %36,1’i yüksek, %4,3’ü düşük düzeyde fertilite farkındalığına sahiptir. SYBDÖ-II toplam puan ortalaması 132,84±21,16, manevi gelişim 27,17±4,32, sağlık sorumluluğu 21,55±5,02, fiziksel aktivite 15,68±4,98, beslenme 21,90±3,96, stres yönetimi 20,49±3,82, kişiler arası ilişkiler 26,06±4,61’dir. FFÖ ve SYBDÖ-II toplam ve alt boyut puan ortalamaları orta düzeyde bulunmuştur. FFÖ ile SYBDÖ-II toplam ve alt boyut (manevi gelişim, sağlık sorumluluğu, beslenme, kişiler arası ilişkiler, stres yönetimi) puanları arasında orta düzeyde, pozitif yönlü, anlamlı; fiziksel aktivite arasında ise çok düşük düzeyde, pozitif yönlü, anlamlı ilişki saptanmıştır (p < ,05). Sonuç: Kadınların fertilite farkındalık düzeyi ve sağlıklı yaşam biçim davranışları orta düzeydedir. Kadınlar en yüksek manevi gelişim en düşük fiziksel aktivite davranışına sahiptir. Fertilite farkındalık düzeyi arttıkça sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları artmaktadır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda kadınlara fertilite farkındalığı ve fertiliteyi etkileyen yaşam biçimi davranışları hakkında eğitim ve danışmanlık yapılması önerilmektedir.

Accordingly, pharmacies can now provide many services that they previously could not offer. The aims of this study were to identify all pharmacy services provided in a community setting and to assess public awareness and utilization of and satisfaction with these services.Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which the authors first purposively visited community pharmacies to identify the services offered. Pharmacists were asked about pharmacy services currently provided to community. Fieldnotes were used to document pharmacists’ responses. After identifying pharmacy services, a questionnaire was desgined and reviewed by experts in the field, piloted and approved by the Ethics Committee at King Faisal University, then disseminated via Google Forms. The satisfaction level with pharmacy services was assessed using a five-point Likert scale. Data were collected from 24 January 2023 to 2 March 2023.Results: Eighteen community pharmacies offering 17 different services were visited across Alahsa Governorate. The number of participants who completed the questionnaire was 350. Of those (232 [66.3%]) were female, and the majority of the sample (80.5%) were younger than 40 years old. The majority of the participants were unaware of pharmacy services. Out of 17 services, six received a score of 50% or higher regarding participant awareness. The most utilized services were the medication dispensing service “Wasfaty” (250 [71.4%]), medication counselling provided by pharmacists (232 [66.3%]) and minor ailment service (231 [66%]). The overall satisfaction score for pharmacy services was 87.2%.Conclusion: The majority of the participants were unaware of the full range of available pharmacy services. There is a potential for community pharmacists to fill the capacity gap in the healthcare system since, overall, the participants rated the pharmacies’ clinical services as satisfactory. Abstract Background Recognizing nurses as pivotal change agents and urgent preparation for the next generation is crucial for addressing sustainability issues and cultivating a sustainable healthcare system. Reports highlight gaps in the integration of sustainable development goals (SDGs) into nursing curricula, prompting the International Council of Nurses to stress the importance of sustainable development in nursing education. The extent to which nursing students are aware of sustainability issues remains to be determined. This study addresses a global and Egyptian research gap by evaluating and comparing Sustainability Consciousness (SC) levels among nursing students at three universities, providing insights into awareness, attitudes, and behaviors related to sustainability. Methods This descriptive comparative study was conducted across three nursing faculties within three Egyptian public universities. The target population for this study was undergraduate nursing students enrolled in these universities during the academic year 2022-2023. This study used the extended version of the Sustainability Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ-L) to measure individuals' knowingness, attitudes, and behaviors related to the three dimensions of sustainable development: environmental, social, and economic. Results More than half of the nursing students across the three universities expressed unfamiliarity with the SDGs. Social media was the most common source of information across the three universities. Sohag University recorded the highest median (IQR) scores in sustainability knowingness (72.0, IQR: 70.0-81.0), attitudes (56.0, IQR: 53.0-61.5), and behavior (65.0, IQR: 60.0-69.0) across their respective dimensions, as well as in overall SC (195, IQR: 184.5-208.5). This was followed by Damanhour University, with a median score of 179.0 (IQR: 124.5-194), and then Alexandria University, with a median score of 116.0 (IQR: 85.5-153), all of which were significantly different (all with p values=0.000). Older students from rural areas exhibited higher SC median scores, while students with insufficient family income and no familiarity with the SDGs had lower SC scores. Conclusions This study highlighted the prevalent reliance on social media for information among nursing students across these universities, emphasizing the pivotal role of academic institutions in integrating sustainability development concepts in nursing education. Sohag University's notable commitment to sustainability practices has contributed to the higher SC of its students compared to Alexandria and Damanhour Universities. The study also identified age, place of residence, family income, and familiarity with the SDGs as consistent predictors of sustainability consciousness.

This systematic review assesses the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (KAB) surrounding dietary fat intake among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and healthcare professionals. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, four databases were searched to identify studies published between 1995 and 2023 reporting people with T2DM or healthcare professionals that measured KAB towards dietary fat. This work was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42020140247). Twenty-four studies were included. Studies assessed knowledge of people with T2DM and reported poor nutrition knowledge regarding the health effect of fat consumption. Two opposing attitudes towards dietary fat was reported: (1) dietary fat should be limited, (2) promoted dietary fat intake through a low-carbohydrate diet. Participants reported behaviors of limiting fat intake, including trimming visible fat or choosing lower-fat alternatives. Total fat intake ranged between 10 and 66% of participants' total energy intake, while saturated fat intake ranged between 10 and 17%. People with T2DM reported poor knowledge of dietary fats in particular, and they were frequently unable to identify high-fat food. Attitudes towards dietary fat were heterogenous, and regarding behaviors, saturated fat intake was higher than recommended. This study examines the role of social norms, family norms, and community attachment in the intention to reduce plastic bag consumption and promote pro-environmental behaviors in Vietnam Central Coastal communities. The study used SEM techniques to analyze the quota sample of 450 households collected in three cities (Dong Hoi, Da Nang, and Nha Trang). The results showed that the intention to reduce plastic bag consumption acts as a mediator in the relationship between social influence, family influence, and community attachment to pro-environmental behaviors. Simultaneously, the analysis of the moderator variable indicated that the impact of social factors on the intention to reduce plastic bag consumption and the pro-environmental behaviors was stronger among women than men. More information is needed to elucidate factors related to anxiety and behavioral problems among adolescents to inform those developing interventions. Reduced levels of parental stress and a supportive parent-adolescent relationship may be positively associated with anxiety and behavioral problems while experiencing adverse childhood events typically is negatively associated with anxiety and behavioral problems. This study investigated correlates of behavioral problems among youth with anxiety. Secondary data analyses were performed using a sample of 2,285 youth (10–17 years) whose parents reported that they currently had anxiety and behavioral problems from the 2019 National Survey of Children's Health. Two multivariable logistic regressions examined the associations between four predictors: anxiety severity (mild or moderate/severe), adverse childhood experiences (0 ACEs, 1 ACE, ≥ 2 ACEs), parental stress (always or seldom stressed from parenting role), and emotional support for parents (Yes or No) and outcome variables (parent report of current or past behavioral problems for youth with anxiety). Results were similar for the two regression models. Specifically, participants who had severe/moderate anxiety, were exposed to more traumatic events (≥2 ACEs), lived with parents who were always stressed from parenting roles, and resided with parents who did not receive emotional support with parenting were more likely to have behavioral problems. Interventions are needed to reduce parental stress and provide emotional support for parents whose children experience anxiety and behavioral problems. Highlights: Exposure to two or more traumatic events increased the likelihood of behavioral problems among youth with anxiety. Parental stress is related to behavioral problems among youth with anxiety. The association of risk factors for anxiety and behavioral problems were significant for males, youth who were black, and younger youth (10–13 years). Background: The use of antibiotics in children is influenced by the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of caregivers, especially mothers. Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding antibiotic use for children among mothers with children under 5 years old in rural areas of northern Vietnam. Methods: This research utilized a cross-sectional descriptive design with a self-administered questionnaire targeting mothers with children under 5 years old in two communes in Hai Duong province and two communes in Hung Yen province. Data collection was conducted from March to April 2023. Chi-square tests and multivariable regression analyses were employed to explore the relationship between the demographic characteristics of mothers and their knowledge, attitudes, and antibiotic use behaviors. Results: The majority of mothers exhibited inadequate knowledge (86.2%), inappropriate attitudes (73.8%), and incorrect antibiotic use behavior (73%). Mothers with university-level education or higher had better knowledge (QR = 4.98; 95% CI: 2.58-9.64) and more correct behaviors (QR = 2.32; 95% CI: 1.31-4.13) in antibiotic use. Mothers with an income higher than 20 million VND exhibited more appropriate attitudes (QR = 5.74; 95% CI: 2.76-11.93) and more correct behaviors (QR = 6.33; 95% CI: 3.18-12.61) regarding antibiotic use. Conclusion: The majority of mothers possess incorrect knowledge, improper attitudes, and irrational antibiotic use behaviors. This calls for continuous interventions and collaborations between healthcare professionals and the community, particularly parents, to enhance the understanding of rational antibiotic use. Purpose To determine whether the professional behaviors of radiologic technologists differ based on demographic variables. Methods An invitation was sent to 10 000 radiologic technologists to participate in the study. Participants completed the Haynes Scale of Professionalism for Radiologic Technology and answered demographic questions. Kruskal-Wallis tests and analyses of variance were conducted to identify the relationship between demographic variables and professional behaviors. Post hoc analyses were performed to identify differences between groups. Results A significant difference was identified for the demographic variable of age and the professionalism subscale of quality patient care (P < .001). The demographic variable of years as a technologist had significant differences with the subscales of quality patient care (P < .007), ethical performance (P = .008), personal and professional development (P = .02), and the total professionalism score (P = .01). A significant difference was found for the highest degree and the subscale of quality patient care (P = .007). Discussion The demographic variables of age, years as a technologist, and highest degree affected the technologist's professional behavior scores. Technologists who were older or had more years of experience had higher professional behavior scores. Conclusion Certain demographic variables can affect the professional behavior of technologists. Background: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have well-known adverse effects, and numerous studies have shown inappropriate behaviors regarding their use. The primary aim of this study was to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding the use of NSAIDs simultaneously in one of the largest and most populated areas of Italy, Naples. Methods: From 2021 December 14th to 2022 January 4th, a cross-sectional survey study was conducted among community centers, working places, and universities using a snowball sampling method. For inclusion in the study, the participants were required to be at least 18 years old and residents in the metropolitan area of Naples. Three multiple linear regression analysis (MLRA) models were developed by including variables that could potentially be associated with the following outcomes of interest: knowledge (Model I), attitudes (Model II), and behavior (Model III) regarding the use of NSAIDs. Results: Data were acquired from 1,012 questionnaires administered to subjects evenly divided by gender with an average age of 36.8 years and revealed that only 7.9% of the participants self-admittedly did not take NSAIDs, while approximately half the participants (50%) admitted to occasionally using them. The results showed a statistically significant correlation between attitudes regarding the appropriate use of NSAIDs and less knowledge. The regression analyses indicated that behaviors regarding the appropriate use of NSAIDs were statistically significant in younger respondents, non-smokers, and those without children. These interesting results showed that behaviors regarding the appropriate use of NSAIDs were significantly higher among respondents with less knowledge and more positive attitudes. Conclusion: According to the collected data and statistical analysis results, it is possible to identify factors that can greatly affect inappropriate behaviors regarding the use of NSAIDs and establish targeted prevention programs. Pregnant women undergo many physiological and psychological changes which can lead to body image disturbances and disordered eating. This study aimed to develop and validate a new scale measuring body image disturbances and disordered eating. The Maternal Body Image and Eating Behaviors Scale (MBIEB-S) was developed based on a multidimensional body image framework, qualitative insights into maternal body image and disordered eating, and limitations of existing instruments. In an online survey, 350 primiparous pregnant women completed the 72-item MBIEB-S. An exploratory factorial analysis yielded a six-factor model (50 items): Body Dissatisfaction, Overeating, Healthy Eating, Eating Restriction, Physical Exercise, and Avoidance. The scale has good convergent validity with related constructs (concerns about weight, shape and eating, eating restriction, and antenatal depression) and shows good criterion validity with relevant constructs (history of eating disorders and antenatal depression). The MBIEB-S measures key dimensions related to body image and eating behaviors during pregnancy, some of which may adversely affect both maternal and fetal health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Hypertension is a serious public health issue. It is a significant but controllable factor in the emergence of cardiovascular disease. Controlling hypertension is a main target for individuals to prevent further illness. Objective: This study aims to explore the level of self-care behaviors, motivation, and self-efficacy among individuals with hypertension. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational design was used to recruit (n = 121) participants utilizing the Hypertension Self-Care Profile (HTN-SCP) questionnaire. Results: The analysis revealed that the mean score of self-care behavior was 49.7 (SD = 10.0) out of 20–80, which indicates that they are likely to have good self-care behavior. The mean score of motivation for self-care was 59.7 (SD = 11.8) out of 20–80, reflecting that individuals with hypertension have a good level of motivation for self-care, and the mean score of self-efficacy was 70.0 (SD = 9.8) out of 20–80, which means that individuals with hypertension have a high level of self-efficacy. Also, there was a significant positive correlation between self-care behavior and motivation for self-care (r =.527, p <.001), between motivation for self-care and self-efficacy (r =.554, p <.001), and between self-efficacy and self-care behavior (r =.572, p <.001). Conclusion: The study revealed that Jordanian patients with hypertension have good self-care practices, motivation, and high self-efficacy. Patients should therefore be strongly recommended to be compliant with self-care practices. Background: Pregnancy provides a privileged and opportune moment to implement interventions promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors and significantly improving perinatal outcomes. The Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale (HLBES) can be used to assess health promoting behaviors, such as diet, physical activity, and mental health. Purpose: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the HLBES in Portuguese pregnant women. Methods: A methodological study was conducted on a convenience sample of 192 pregnant women receiving prenatal care. After cross-cultural adaptation, an exploratory factor analysis and internal consistency assessment were carried out to evaluate the psychometric properties of the scale. Data collected included the Healthy Lifestyle Beliefs Scale to assess the HLBES' criterion validity. Results: Exploratory factor analysis with Varimax rotation yielded 2 subscales that explained 45.23% of the total variance. The scale revealed an overall internal consistency of 0.78 and a good criterion validity with the Healthy Lifestyle Beliefs Scale (r = 0.65, P <.01). Conclusion: Our results suggest that the HLBES is an instrument for reporting healthy lifestyle behaviors in Portuguese pregnant women; however, further studies are recommended. Simple Summary: Necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens (CP) is an important disease for the poultry industry. It leads to decreased growth and production performance in chickens. Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SC06 (BaSC06) is known to play a role in preventing damage from the bacterial infection. However, whether CP could affect brain function and behavior and whether BaSC06 has a preventive role in infected animals are not yet reported. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether BaSC06 has a preventative effect on broiler chickens infected by CP. Our results showed that CP is associated with a reduction in stress and fear-related behaviors and causes pathological damage to the pia and cortex of the brain, as well as inhibiting the expression of genes related to stress, while the treatment of BaSC06 alleviates these adverse effects. Poultry studies conducted on Clostridium perfringens (CP) mainly focus on the effects of intestinal health and productive performance. Notably, the probiotic Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SC06 (BaSC06) is known to play a role in preventing bacterial infection. However, whether CP could induce the changes in brain function and behaviors and whether BaSC06 could play roles in these parameters is yet to be reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of BaSC06 on stress-related behaviors and gene expression, as well as the brain morphology and mRNA sequence of the hypothalamus in broiler chickens. A total of 288 one-day-old chicks were randomly divided into four groups: (1) a control group with no treatment administered or infection; (2) birds treated with the BaSC06 group; (3) a CP group; and (4) a BaSC06 plus CP (Ba_CP) group. The results showed that stress and fear-related behaviors were significantly induced by a CP infection and decreased due to the treatment of BaSC06. CP infection caused pathological damage to the pia and cortex of the brain, while BaSC06 showed a protective effect. CP significantly inhibited hypothalamic GABA and promoted HTR1A gene expression, while BaSC06 promoted GABA and decreased HTR1A gene expression. The different genes were nearly found between the comparisons of control vs. Ba group and Ba vs. CP group, while there were a great number of different genes between the comparisons of control vs. Ba_CP as well as CP vs. Ba_CP. Several different gene expression pathways were found that were related to disease, energy metabolism, and nervous system development. Our results will help to promote poultry welfare and health, as well as provide insights into probiotics to replace antibiotics and reduce resistance in the chicken industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although problematic cannabis use is a public health concern, little is known about lower-risk cannabis use beliefs and behaviors. A major stumbling block for research in this domain has been the lack of a methodologically sound, multidimensional measure of lower-risk cannabis beliefs and behaviors. This paper reports the development of the Cannabis Lower-Risk Scale (CaLRS). In Study 1 (N = 510), people who use cannabis were administered a survey containing 69 items that assessed an array of lower-risk beliefs and behaviors. A factor analysis was conducted, and items were subsequently culled. In Study 2 (N = 1008), the factor structure was confirmed revealing a 6-factor scale (21-items) that assesses three lower-risk beliefs (stigma reduction, informed self-regulation, and personal awareness) and three lower-risk behaviors (positive protective strategies, honesty, and limiting behaviors). Objective: Describe the management practices provided to charrería horses in the state of Guerrero, Mexico and relate them to animal welfare. Design/methodology/approach: Sixty-four owners of charrería horses were interviewed and 10% underwent an evaluation according to the protocol of the Welfare Quality® Results: The most used breeds are Creole, Quarter Horse, Aztec, Spanish and Arabian. The starting age in charrería is two to four years. Hoof shoeing is done every 8 to 12 weeks in 54.3%. The diet is based on forage and commercial feed (82.8%). Deworming is every six months (60.9%), vaccinated against tetanus, rabies, and influenza. The most frequent diseases are digestive and locomotor, skin and respiratory. The stereotypes were rocking, nodding, kicking doors, chewing wood, and walking in circles. Abundant body condition ranged from good to obese in the animals. The majority had white hairs as an indication of injuries caused by the harnesses. Limitations on study/implications: The lack of knowledge of the owners of horses dedicated to charro sport, to relate the five freedoms of well-being that must be given to every animal to improve their sporting performance, has caused problems in the animal's life quality. Findings/conclusions: The findings observed in the horses indicate that the welfare conditions were affected, which led to the development of vices, poor body condition, sick animals, and skin lesions in the animals. Background and Purpose: It is essential to address sexual health to ensure quality of life and sexual well-being; however, studies to measure sexual attitudes remain scarce. This study aimed to find reliability and validity evidence of the Brief Sexual Attitudes Scale (BSAS) using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) among Filipino men. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: BSAS shows coefficient alpha of 0.90. CFA demonstrates goodness of fit (adjusted goodness-of-fit index =.82; goodness-of-fit index =.86; comparative fit index =.91; incremental fit index =.91; expected cross-validation index = 2.27; root mean square error of approximation =.08; [χ2 (213) = 927.45, p ≤.001], χ2/ df ratio = 4.35). Conclusions: BSAS is a valid and reliable questionnaire to assess sexual attitudes among Filipino men. Understanding how attitudes and beliefs about COVID-19 vaccination have changed over time is essential for identifying areas where targeted messaging and interventions can improve vaccination confidence and uptake. Using data from multiple waves of the nationally representative U.S. Census Bureau's Household Pulse Survey collected from January 2021 to May 2023, we assessed reasons for the non-vaccination of adults, adolescents, and children using the Health Belief Model as the framework for understanding behavior. Among unvaccinated adults, perceived vulnerability increased from 11.9% to 44.1%, attitudinal factors/mistrust increased from 28.6% to 53.4%, and lack of cue to action increased from 7.5% to 9.7% from January 2021 to May 2022. On the other hand, safety/efficacy concerns decreased from 74.0% to 60.9%, and logistical barriers to vaccination decreased from 9.1% to 3.4% during the same time period. Regarding reasons for non-vaccination of youth, perceived vulnerability increased from 32.8% to 40.0%, safety/efficacy concerns decreased from 73.9% to 60.4%, and lack of cue to action increased from 10.4% to 13.4% between September 2021 and May 2023. Authors of this article, originally published in 2016, argue that a foundation's internal culture is critical to achieving large-scale social change, but that efforts to build a changemaking culture too often are left out of strategy conversations. While there is no one culture that suits every foundation, a particular set of characteristics must be present in those that seek large-scale social change: a focus on outcomes, transparency, authenticity, collaboration, racial equity and inclusion, continuous learning, and openness to risk. This article offers insights into why culture can be challenging for foundations to address and maintain, examines cases of successful culture change at foundations, and offers advice for foundations that aspire to it. In the 2024 prologue, the authors note that philanthropy has evolved in some important ways since the article was written. One significant change has been an increase in the number of foundations that are shifting priorities and practices to center racial equity -- this out of recognition that race is the biggest indicator of disparities on a range of social issues in the United States. For foundations working to build a culture centered on equity and inclusion, the authors offer three recommendations: be intentional with language, prioritize relationships and listening, and pay attention to power. This study examined coping and pain responses using a behavioural inhibition (BIS) – behavioural activation (BAS) framework in 489 student athletes (M(age) = 20, SD = 4; 69% female). Two samples of athletes (226 pain-free athletes and 232 athletes with current pain) completed surveys assessing BIS- and BAS-related cognitions, emotions, and behaviours. Distinct groupings of BAS-related variables were identified in both samples, evidenced by significant positive correlations within BAS-related variables (positive affect, pain openness, approach thoughts and behaviours). Most BIS-related variables (depression, anxiety, harm beliefs, pain catastrophizing and avoidance behaviours) were also correlated in the sample of athletes with pain; however, this was not observed in pain-free athletes. In athletes with pain, BIS-related variables were significantly associated with pain variables, with this association stronger than that found for BAS-related variables. Regression analyses highlighted the pivotal role of pain catastrophizing as a predictor of pain unpleasantness and intensity. Findings shed light on the factors shaping athletes' coping, pain perception and decisions as to whether to pause or push through. Future investigations to explore these dynamics in more depth may aid in the development of targeted interventions that enhance athletes' ability to cope and to manage pain more effectively. Controversy exists among collegiate lacrosse about the use of headgear and whether its use will facilitate greater risk compensation by players and thus contribute to unsafe gameplay. We aimed to characterize the attitudes of headgear among women's collegiate lacrosse stakeholders. A total of 190 women's lacrosse stakeholders (players: n = 87; coaches: n = 71; officials: n = 32) participated in this study. Participants completed a survey surrounding attitudes of headgear in women's lacrosse. Descriptives, multiple regressions, and Kruskal–Wallis analyses compared attitudes surrounding headgear among stakeholder groups. Scales of Headgear Affects Play (β = -0.38, p < 0.001) and Sports Development and Safety Practices (β = 0.26, p < 0.05) significantly predicted endorsement on Headgear Safety Attitudes Scale. Among players, Aesthetics (β = 0.51, p < 0.001) and Intention to Wear Headgear (β = 0.31, p < 0.05) predicted endorsement on Headgear Safety Attitudes Scale. Stakeholders did not agree if headgear should be worn in women's lacrosse. Purpose: Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) are a challenge to the healthy nursing workforce. Nurses confront various objective and subjective nursing workloads which contribute to their LUTS, but less is known about how nursing workloads influence their LUTS. This study is designed to test hypotheses that delayed voiding behaviors mediate the relationships between nursing workloads and LUTS in female nurses. Materials and Methods: This study analyzed the baseline data collected from an ongoing cohort study named Nurse Urinary Related Health Study in China. LUTS of nurses in 20 tertiary hospitals were assessed with the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire? Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms. Objective nursing workloads including working environment, working hours, and working schedule were collected, and perceived stress, the proxy of the subjective nursing workload, was assessed with the Perceived Stress Scale. Delayed voiding behaviors were assessed with 3 questions adapted from the Taiwan Nurse Bladder Survey. Structural equation modeling was used to run the mediation model. Results: More than half (51%) of 13,191 female nurses had LUTS. Median age was 31 years (IQR 27-37). When delayed voiding behaviors served as a mediator, the direct effects of subjective nursing workload rather than objective nursing workloads on LUTS were significant. Conclusions: Nursing workloads influence nurses' LUTS via delayed voiding behaviors. Strategies tailored to delayed voiding behaviors should be developed, and these may work with stress-reducing strategies as the gatekeepers for nurses' bladder health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditionally, drinking water supply infrastructures have been designed to store as much water as possible and to do so during the energy cheap hours. This approach is unsustainable today. The use of digital systems capable of modeling the behavior of infrastructures and the creation of intelligent control systems can help to make drinking water supply systems more efficient and effective, while still meeting minimum service requirements. This work proposes the development of a control system, based on multi-agent systems (MAS), capable of generating an intelligent control over a drinking water infrastructure, based on the use of local interests of the agents and with an emergent behavior coherent with the needs. To validate the proposal, a simulator based on the infrastructures of a medium-sized Spanish city of 5000 inhabitants has been built and the control has been simulated using the MAS. The results show how the system can maintain the objectives set, handling unknown situations, and facilitating the development of future physical systems based on a just-in-time paradigm that guarantees sustainability, as it allows the generation of virtualizations of the infrastructures and their behavior, thus being able to study the best option for an infrastructure to resolve a supply situation. ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to determine hospital clinical staff’ health-promoting lifestyle behaviors, and explore associations between nurse demographic factors and lifestyle behaviors.MethodsThis cross-sectional investigation focused on the clinical personnel employed at hospitals associated with Baqiyatullah University. A sample of 341 clinical staff of hospitals was collected using convenience sampling. In this study, the questionnaire of Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II) was used to assess health-promoting behaviors.ResultsIn the present study, the mean HPLP score was 131 ± 23. The score of health-promoting behaviors was significantly higher in the nursing major (p = 0.029). Also, a difference was found between the major and the subscales of health responsibility (p = 0.000), stress management (p = 0.004), physical activity (p = 0.004) and nutrition (p = 0.001). The score of health responsibility, stress management, physical activity and nutrition subscales was higher in nursing. There was a significant relationship between education and stress management (p = 0.033) and physical activity subscales (p = 0.001). The physical activity score was also higher in individuals with master’s and doctoral degrees, and the stress management score was higher in participants with master’s degrees. Based on the findings presented herein, age (p = 0.001) and gender (p = 0.016) were associated with the nutrition subscale, and the nutrition score was higher in the age group of over 30 years and in women. Additionally, a significant relationship was observed between marriage and the subscales of spiritual growth (p = 0.013) and nutrition (p = 0.024), and the score of spiritual growth, and nutrition was higher in married people. There was a significant relationship between job and health responsibility (p = 0.013) and nutrition (p = 0.022), and the score of health responsibility and nutrition score was found to be higher in nurses.ConclusionHealth-promoting behaviors of hospital employees are at an average level and are related to the educational levels of the employees, so these behaviors are more in nurses, while this relationship was not present in physicians. These findings may be helpful in providing recommendations for developing healthy lifestyle programs for clinical staff aimed at promoting health behaviors.

BackgroundThe use of Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) among gym members has become a significant concern due to their impact on physical training and performance. Research worldwide indicates a notable prevalence of AAS use among athletes and gym attendees, often involving substances that are neither safe nor legal.ObjectivesThis study aims to determine the prevalence of AAS use among gym attendees in Amman, Jordan, and to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors associated with AAS use.MethodsThe study involved 399 participants from 35 randomly selected gyms in the metropolitan area of Amman, Jordan. A cluster sampling technique was used to select a diverse and representative sample of gym attendees. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire that assessed AAS use, knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral factors. Statistical analyses were conducted using chi-square tests to explore the relationships between AAS use and categorical variables, while logistic regression was employed to identify predictors of AAS use.ResultsThe analysis revealed significant associations between AAS use and various factors, including knowledge, attitudes, behavioral factors, and demographic variables such as gender, age, exercise frequency, reasons for exercise, and total exercise duration. The study identified key predictors of AAS use among gym attendees in Amman, highlighting the importance of demographic and behavioral factors.ConclusionThe findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to address misconceptions and promote safer practices among gym-goers in Amman. The study provides critical insights that can guide the development of strategies, policy adjustments, and educational initiatives aimed at reducing AAS misuse and fostering a healthier gym culture in the region.

Nursing students are part of the future health labor force; thus, knowing their knowledge and participation in tobacco control is of importance. Multicentre cross-sectional study conducted to assess nursing students' knowledge, attitudes, and training in tobacco dependence and treatment at 15 nursing schools in Catalonia. We employed a self-administered questionnaire. 4,381 students participated. Few respondents (21.1%) knew how to assess smokers' nicotine dependence, and less than half (41.4%) knew about the smoking cessation therapies. Most (80%) had been educated on the health risks of smoking, 50% about the reasons why people smoke and, one third on how to provide cessation aid. Students in the last years of training were more likely to have received these two contents. Nursing students lack sufficient knowledge to assess and treat tobacco dependence and are rarely trained in such subjects. Nursing curricula in tobacco dependence and treatment should be strengthened to tackle the first preventable cause of disease worldwide.
