The article provides data on the prevalence of migraine. It is shown that migraine patients are characterized by the variability of the incidence, duration and intensity of migraine attacks, range of leading clinical manifestations, as well as the presence of precipitating factors specific for each patient. This work presents a literature review, which describes some pathogenetic aspects of migraine. In this case, the authors define the direct correlation between the incidence of headaches and hormonal changes, the age of patients. It was found that gender differences, hormonal disorders are the important factors for the initiation of migraine attacks. The article presents the data of numerous clinical and experimental studies, which showed that high levels of estrogen are correlated with a higher pain tolerance. The work pays much attention to the problem of comorbidity of migraine, presents clinical case of migraine complicated by cerebral infarction with atypical localization of ischemic focus.
