Service-oriented manufacturing has been a prevalent trend in integrating product collaborative development with maintenance service, whereas the final products are frequently trapped into severe quality defects lacking appropriate contracting incentives. This paper establishes a tractable framework investigating the alignment of inspection and warranty strategies to manage product quality throughout the R&D, manufacturing and usage processes. Specifically, the manufacturing effort is motivated by a cost-sharing contract provided by the researcher, who performs quality inspection upon receiving the final product. Subsequent maintenance service is predesignated for warranty period coverage that the cost is partially claimed for compensation from the manufacturer. Under both breakdown and preventive maintenance strategies, we elaborate and compare the optimal incentive intensities solving the equilibrium effort decisions and inspection accuracy. The results suggest that both R&D and manufacturing effort levels under preventive maintenance are slightly higher than that under breakdown maintenance scenario, while inspection accuracy contradicts conversely. The breakdown maintenance strategy is associated with a lower proportion of warranty costs borne by the manufacturer. For a sufficient long warranty period, the researcher is better off to conduct preventive maintenance periodically. Today’s challenges around global healthcare emphasize the need for large-scale collaborations between the clinical and sciesntific communities. However, regulatory constraints around data sharing and patient privacy might hinder access to data genuinely representing clinically relevant patient populations. We have developed an open-source federated learning framework, NVIDIA FLARE, to work around such restrictions while maintaining patient privacy using modern cryptographic and information-theoretic methods such as homomorphic encryption and differential privacy. In this work, we show how NVIDIA FLARE addresses clinical questions, such as predicting clinical outcomes in patients with COVID-19 and other real-world applications, including federated statistics and parameter-efficient adaptation of large language models under a collaborative setting, while allowing participants to retain governance over their data. Digital learning platforms featuring artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools are being increasingly used at workplaces. This study investigated the opportunities that AI tools offer for facilitating the collaborative development of work on a learning platform called Howspace. The data comprised interviews with platform developers (n=4) and facilitators (n=10). Content analysis explored the interviewees' conceptions of the use of AI tools in collaborative development. It identified four AI tool functions--task assistant, participant assistant, process assistant, and interaction assistant--along with their associated benefits and limitations. Platform developers saw more opportunities for the use of AI tools, whereas the facilitators saw more challenges. These challenges were primarily related to the facilitators' limited understanding of the algorithms' logic. The study proposes that enhancing the transparency of algorithms could improve the usability of AI tools. A better understanding of algorithmic operations could mitigate the identified challenges, and improve facilitators' experience of employing AI tools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Complex equipment refers to special equipment that differs from general equipment. The collaborative development work of complex equipment in the military-civilian integration context involves numerous suppliers. We consider a two-tier supply network composed of different suppliers that participate in the development work to assemble complex equipment that cooperate with a main-manufacturer regarding spare parts. However, in terms of spare parts, a substitution relationship exists in assembly work for complex equipment. Hence, selecting a suitable supplier from the matching process between suppliers and spare parts under a military-civilian integration background is essential. This study considers three main analyses to obtain a suitable supplier for the development work of complex equipment. First, we construct a two-stage model to acquire the necessary evaluation dimension for subsequent processes. Second, we examine the evaluated attributes for the matching process based on entropy-group-DEMATEL analysis. Third, we perform information aggregation for the uncertain preference information between spare parts and suppliers using a Bonferroni mean operator. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to demonstrate the whole efficiency. Through the aforementioned analysis, we can select a suitable supplier that could participate in complex equipment military-civilian collaborative development work.

The scientific and rational assessment of the evolution of node importance in rail transit line networks is important for the sustainability of transportation systems. Based on the complex network theory, this study develops a weighted network model using the Space L method. It first considers the network topology, the mutual influence of neighboring nodes of the transportation system, and the land use intensity in the station influence domain to construct a comprehensive index evaluation system of node importance. It then uses the covariance-weighted principal component analysis algorithm to more comprehensively evaluate the node importance evolution mechanism and analyzes the similarity and difference of the sorting set by adopting three different methods. The interaction mechanism between the distribution of important nodes and the evolution of land use intensity is explored in detail based on the fractal dimension theory. The Xi'an rail transit network is considered an example of qualitative and quantitative analysis. The obtained results show that the importance of nodes varies at different times of the day and the complexity of the morning peak is more prominent. Over time, articulated fragments with significance values greater than 0.5 are formed around the station, which are aligned with the direction of urban development, creating a sustainable mechanism of interaction. As the network's crucial nodes in the center of gravity increase and the southern network expands, along with the increased intensity of the city's land utilization, the degree of alignment in evolution becomes increasingly substantial. Different strategies for attaching the network, organized based on the size of S i can lead to the rapid damage of the network (reducing it to 0.2). The identification of crucial nodes highlighted in this paper serves as an effective representation of the functional characteristics of the nodes in transportation networks. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is the world' s first "Dual Olympics", with "dual" having two meanings: dual cities and dual times. Dual cities refer to Beijing and Zhangiiakou simultaneously hosting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic+. Dual times indicate that the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is held following the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. The successful hosting of the dual Olympics is not only an important manifestation of the strategy to build a sport power but also a typical case of sports promoting economic development and implementing the national key strategy of coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin -Hehei region.Specifically, the dual-city Olympics added external opportunities and internal momentum for the coordinated industrial development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Hosting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics created a large demand, providing valuable opportunities for industrial upgrading in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hehei region. The infrastructure investments made for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics laid a solid foundation for industrial upgrading in the region. Faced with the characteristics of multifactor coupling and interweaving along the railway lines in the southwestern mountainous areas of China, researching the coupling mechanism and optimizing the collaborative development path between alignment designs and the resource environment is conducive to promoting the green and sustainable development of railways in these southwestern mountainous areas. In this study, first, regarding the environmental characteristics of engineering along the railway lines in the southwestern mountainous area, the key elements of the interaction and coercion between the alignment design (internal system) and the resource environment (external system) are identified, and the interactive impact mechanism of the "alignment design–resource environment" complex is revealed. Accordingly, a nonlinear coupling mechanism between the alignment design system and the resource environment system is established using the deviation coefficient coupling degree model. Second, from a methodological perspective, following a technical path of "analyzing the coercive effects of internal and external factors–identifying coupling relationships–discovering coupling laws–screening driving factors–proposing optimization plans–achieving collaborative development goals", we propose an overall optimization plan to solve the problem. Finally, the Chengdu Changdu section of the X railway, which is located in a southwestern mountainous area, is taken as an example for this study. The results indicate that if the state of the external system of the KL scheme is continuously improved through the regulation of the u22 (crossing the ecological protection red line length), u23 (biodiversity impact), and u24 (ecosystem impact) indicators and that the internal structure of the line design is improved by optimizing the l12 (total length of bridges and tunnels) and l13 (number of stations) indicators, effectively driving the improvement in the u31 (land resource occupation) and u43 (land development intensity) indicators, the alignment design and resource environment will exhibit a mutually reinforcing coupling evolution trend and ultimately achieve an "alignment design–resource environment" composite system with higher quality coupling. The establishment of an eco-industrial demonstration park is based on the principles of sustainable development and aims to achieve social progress and economic growth before ultimately evolving into a fully developed industrial ecosystem. This study explores the relationship between the ecological environment and socioeconomic development in Zhengzhou Economic Development Zone (area of 158.7 km2), China. By analyzing the landscape patterns and changes in ecosystem service values over the periods of 2010, 2015, and 2019, results revealed a remarkable shift in land use in this area from 2010 to 2019. Particularly noteworthy was the remarkable growth in forest lands, which expanded from 0.98 km2 in 2010 to 23.42 km2 in 2019, whereas cultivated and bare lands decreased by 47.55% and 73.81%, respectively. The value of ecosystem services experienced a continuous increase and reached 13.3009 billion yuan in 2019. This study also examined the coordination degree of socioeconomic development and ecological environment coupling and found considerable progress from 2010 to 2019. The coupling degree values of 0.129, 0.809, and 0.960 for the aforementioned years indicated a remarkable improvement in synergistic and integrated development between the socioeconomic system and the ecosystem in this area. To efficiently implement Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) in New Product Development (NPD), literature examined the contribution of its success factors to NPD project performance. However, prior studies overlooked the compromising effects of ESI failure factors that should also be carefully managed to foster project performance. Following an in-depth literature review, we identify 16 failure factors and position them according to the collaboration phases, namely relationship design and day-to-day interactions. Then, based on data collected from a survey with 80 practitioners, we use Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) to determine the degrees of risk criticality for each factor with respect to different thresholds of NPD project performance in terms of cost, quality, time and innovation. As such, we unveil the failure factors most detrimental to the project success, and provide practitioners with guidance to mitigate the ESI failure factors according to the performance criteria they prioritize the most and the performance levels they target. Science and technology innovation corridors are important spatial carriers for the coordinated development of future urban agglomerations in China. Based on a coupling coordination evaluation method, this study builds an index system for the evaluation of collaborative development of the "industry-city-innovation" region, and conducts the index evaluation and coupling coordination evaluation on the "industry-city-innovation" in the Xiamen-Quanzhou Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, in the hope of exploring measurement and evaluation methods for the development level of science and technology industrial parks. Based on multidimensional quantitative evaluation, the study concludes that Xiamen and Quanzhou own a solid foundation for economic development and science and technology innovation. However, the difference in the innovation cultivation environment between the two cities is an apparent shortcoming in the construction of the science and technology innovation corridor. Moreover, according to the coupling coordination evaluation of the "industry-city-innovation" system, the result shows that the overall coupling coordination degree of Xiamen City is generally high. The various counties and districts along the Xiamen-Quanzhou Science and Technology Innovation Corridor are mainly affected by the coupling of "city innovation," forming an obvious spatial agglomeration form. The influence of industrial elements is relatively weak. At the same time, the study uses the gray correlation analysis method to evaluate the factors influencing the coupling coordination degree. It is found that in terms of the degree of influence, city > industry > innovation, and the proportion of age population of labor force, the public service index, and the proportion of added value of the tertiary industry are key factors. Finally, considering the collaborative development with "industry-city-innovation" as the driving force, this study puts forward specific policy suggestions for the construction of the Xiamen-Quanzhou Science and Technology Innovation Corridor based on the coupling evaluation results, providing a reference for the future development of science and technology innovation corridors. In order to investigate the dynamic evolution and regional differences of quaternity cooperation of water resources-ecology-city-industry in the Yellow River Basin, the paper adopted the synergy model, kernel density estimation, Dagum gini coefficient and its decomposition to estimate it based on the data of 76 major prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River Basin from 2016 to 2020. The results show that the number of cities in primary, intermediate and good coordination is 30, 33 and 13 respectively. The level of synergy among cities is on the rise, but the absolute difference between cities is expanding and the relative difference is narrowing. except for Hu-Bao-E-Yu urban agglomeration, the absolute difference of the coordination degree of the other six urban agglomerations all shows an expanding trend. The internal differences between the upper and lower reaches of the Yellow River show a downward trend, while the internal differences in the middle reaches show an upward trend. The difference between the upper and middle reaches is the largest, and it shows a further expansion trend, and the difference between the upper and lower reaches is gradually narrowing. The difference in Hu-Bao-E-Yu urban agglomeration is the smallest and the difference in Guanzhong urban agglomeration is the largest. The difference between Guanzhong urban agglomeration and Shandong peninsula urban agglomeration is the smallest, and the difference between Jinzhong urban agglomeration and Shandong peninsula urban agglomeration is the largest. In the future, we should further strengthen factor coordination and regional coordination, give play to the dynamic comparative advantages of various regions, and promote the in-depth implementation of ecological protection and high-quality development strategies according to local conditions in the Yellow River Basin. We describe a use-case for balancing the demands of commercial intellectual property and open-source in a collaborative scientific software project.

The upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River is an important region in China characterized by ongoing conflicts regarding water resources, food, and energy. To achieve high-quality development of the region, it is essential to identify water, food, and energy security risks and propose corresponding measures. This study examines the basic implications of water-food-energy coordinated development and analyzes the new situation, opportunities, and challenges associated with the coordinated development of water, food, and energy in the region. Focusing on the goals of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, the study proposes a strategic framework for coordinating water, food, and energy development. It further proposes the following suggestions: (1) maximizing the utilization of water resources, (2) taking the energy industry as a pillar industry of the region and enhancing energy production efficiency, (3) ensuring food security by strengthening water support, (4) minimizing the negative impacts of food and energy development on water resources and ecology, and (4) innovating technological and institutional approaches to guarantee water, food, and energy security.

This paper proposes a hybrid teaching model based on new media support by constructing an AHP teaching system, dividing the hierarchical model into a target layer T, a criterion layer M, and a program layer B, thus constructing a judgment matrix and calculating a weight vector. The indicators are used to conduct consistency tests to provide integrity support for the construction of the teaching model system and to realize the design of the teaching model system. The results show that the average response time of the system proposed in this paper is 14.98ms, the resource preference time is above 0.93, and the active interest in learning is growing significantly. The new media technology promotes the teaching model to break through the limitations and realize the high-quality synergistic development of vocational and open education.

With the realization of the Grand Canal's full water supply and the strong pursuit of green and low-carbon transportation in contemporary society, the value of Grand Canal water transport has been increasingly recognized, highlighting the importance of its coordinated development with other transportation modes. This paper analyzes and combs through the characteristics, development status, and existing problems of Grand Canal water transport and other transport modes in depth, taking Jiangsu as an example. A collaboration model of Grand Canal water transport and other transport modes was built, and their collaboration degree was calculated. It is believed that the coordinated development of Grand Canal water transport and other transport modes can be greatly promoted via four aspects: optimizing the construction and governance of Grand Canal water transport, building an integrated management platform of transport modes, improving the integrated transport network structure, and promoting the deep integration of integrated shipping and tourism. Coordination of economic, environmental, and social development is essential for sustainable development in China. A closed-loop feedback three-stage dynamic network slack-based measurement model was proposed to measure the sustainable development efficiency of 30 provinces in China during 2005–2020. The spatiotemporal evolution characteristics and coordination of sustainable development efficiency were explored using the Dagum–Gini coefficient decomposition method, Malmquist index model, and kernel density estimation method. As indicated, the overall sustainable development efficiency of China has increased with an average of 0.7140. The efficiency level of regional sustainable development displayed a "stepped-like" spatial distribution pattern, exhibiting a successive "east-central-west" decrease. The sustainable development efficiency levels of the respective stages differed notably, and the efficiency values of stages 2 and 3 were considerably lower than those of stage 1. The contribution rate of the between-region difference to the overall degree of variation was the highest, followed by the contribution rate within the region. Notably, the contribution rate of transvariation intensity reached a minimum value. During the study period, the distribution centre of sustainable development efficiency in China moved continuously to the right, the peak height increased, and the width contracted. This study provides a valuable policy reference for China's sustainable development and ideas regarding its global response to energy and environmental issues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

User experience (UX) is an important quality in differentiating products. For a product team, it is a challenge to develop a good positive user experience. A common UX vision for the product team supports the team in making goal-oriented decisions regarding the user experience. This paper presents an approach to developing a shared UX vision. This UX vision is developed by the product team while a collaborative session. To validate our approach, we conducted a first validation study. In this study, we conducted a collaborative session with two groups and a total of 37 participants. The group of participants comprised product managers, UX designers and comparable professional profiles. At the end of the collaborative session, participants had to fill out a questionnaire. Through questions and observations, we identified ten good practices and four bad practices in the application of our approach to developing a UX vision. The top 3 good practices mentioned by the participants include the definition of decision-making procedures (G1), determining the UX vision with the team (G2), and using general factors of the UX as a basis (G3). The top 3 bad practices are: providing too little time for the development of the UX vision (B1), not providing clear cluster designations (B2) and working without user data (B3). The results show that the present approach for developing a UX vision helps to promote a shared understanding of the intended UX in a quickly and simply way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paired assistance approach is an important measure for achieving poverty alleviation in China. The sustainable development of poverty-stricken areas after poverty alleviation has become an important task in preventing a return to poverty and promoting rural revitalization. Paired assistance is a dynamic process of balanced economic, social, and population development. This study establishes a system dynamics (SD) model for developing poverty-stricken regions under paired assistance. This study takes Lvchun County in Yunnan Province as the research object, designates six scenarios, and simulates the development of Lvchun County from 2019 to 2035 to evaluate its sustainable development after poverty alleviation. The results show that the cessation of poverty alleviation funding will not increase the incidence of poverty under paired assistance but will lead to an unbalanced scenario of "poor people and a rich government". In the multi-scenario simulation, only by continuing the cooperation foundation formed by paired assistance and paying attention to the resource endowment of poverty-stricken areas can collaborative development be adopted to achieve sustainable development by 2030. This result may be a valuable resource for the world's underdeveloped regions to reference as they seek to eliminate poverty, reduce the risk of returning to poverty, and promote sustainable development. After the official launch of China's unified carbon market, the potential for carbon emission reduction is huge. The pilot regional markets urgently need to be connected with the national carbon market to form a regional synergy and linkage mechanism and further promote the development of a unified carbon market. Spillover effects can be used to analyze the interaction between multiple markets. In this context, this study focuses on the overall spillover relationship among regional carbon trading markets. Using the VAR-GARCH-BEKK model and social network analysis (SNA), this study empirically analyzes the mean spillover effect and volatility spillover effect of regional carbon markets, and it establishes a spillover network between markets. The results show that the spillover effect of China's regional carbon markets is widespread. Among them, the mean spillover effect is weak, and the impact period is short;. The volatility spillover effect is strong and has various directions; the spillover network connection between regional carbon markets is strong, but the spillover intensity is weak. Spillover effects will spread to the overall carbon market through information spillover paths and risk spillover paths. The stronger spillover effect and the stronger linkage between markets can bring more resource integration and unified supervision. Finally, we put forward policy recommendations, such as improving the carbon market mechanism and enhancing the maturity of carbon market development, increasing the participation and activity of the carbon market to encourage more participants to join the carbon market, improving the institutional system of the carbon market, and effectively supervising the process of information and risk spillover between carbon markets. Serious game development involves a multidisciplinary team of teachers and computer scientists. But the difference in computer competencies between the team members is a recurring difficulty in this collaboration. Authoring tools, which provide interfaces adapted to users' competencies, are promising solutions to overcome this difficulty. However, existing authoring tools are either limited in their functionalities (not powerful) or too complex for noncomputer scientists (not usable). A comprehensive set of design principles to address this limitation does not yet exist. The objective of this research was to define a set of design principles for the development of powerful and usable authoring tools. To achieve this objective, we first defined a set of design principles. We then developed an authoring tool corresponding to these principles. Finally, we carried out test uses of that tool through the development of twelve serious games. Results show that this authoring tool enabled the development of a wide variety of serious games (powerful) by teams with heterogeneous computer skills (usable). Design principles defined in this research integrate and extend previous works. They allow to overcome the dilemma between the power and usability of authoring tools. Based on the data of core, well logging, laboratory analysis, water injection profile and production performance, combined with geological and reservoir engineering identification methods, the dominant seepage channels of Y Oil Group, the main of layer of P Oilfield in M Basin of African inland rift basin, were identified and quantitatively evaluated, and the distribution law and distribution mode of dominant seepage channels in the coordinated development of layered sandstone reservoir in this area were clarified. The results show that the dominant seepage channel is preferentially developed at the bottom of the positive rhythm sand body in the Y VI sand group dominated by braided river sedimentary faces. The thick dense mudstone interlayer will promote the development of the dominant seepage channel and limit its longitudinal extension. The dominant seepage channels are mostly parallel to the source and along the river direction or intersect at a small angle; it is developed in the high permeability sandstone layer of the sand group with high interlayer permeability breakthrough coefficient (> 1.25), high interlayer permeability coefficient of variation (>0.40) and large interlayer permeability difference (>4.36). The dominant seepage channels in the synergistic development of layered sandstone reservoir can be divided into three distribution modes: water control between sand groups, interlayer control within sand groups, and rhythmic control within sandstone layers. The results provide a geological reference for controlling the dominant seepage channel of layered sandstone reservoir, improving the recovery of remaining oil and realizing stable oil and water control. Serious game development involves a multidisciplinary team of teachers and computer scientists. But the difference in computer competencies between the team members is a recurring difficulty in this collaboration. Authoring tools, which provide interfaces adapted to users' competencies, are promising solutions to overcome this difficulty. However, existing authoring tools are either limited in their functionalities (not powerful) or too complex for non-computer scientists (not usable). A comprehensive set of design principles to address this limitation does not yet exist. The objective of this research was to define a set of design principles for the development of powerful and usable authoring tools. To achieve this objective, we first defined a set of design principles. We then developed an authoring tool corresponding to these principles. Finally, we carried out test uses of that tool through the development of twelve serious games. Results show that this authoring tool enabled the development of a wide variety of serious games (powerful) by teams with heterogeneous computer skills (usable). Design principles defined in this research integrate and extend previous works. They allow to overcome the dilemma between the power and usability of authoring tools. This could unlock new possibilities for collaborative approaches in serious games developments.

Digitalization drives the arrival of the era of intelligent construction, which greatly affects the development of construction industrialization. Due to the collaborative barriers between intelligent construction and building industrialization (ICBI), it is difficult for construction enterprises to participate in the actual engineering projects in this work. Achieving the collaborative development of ICBI has become a way to transform and upgrade the construction industry, and it has attracted more and more attention. However, the existing literature lacks consensus on the collaborative development of ICBI affecting the construction industry. In order to promote the theoretical research on the collaborative development of ICBI, this paper proposes a “mi” shaped conceptual framework so that readers can understand the operation law of ICBI collaboration and promote its healthy development. Therefore, based on the synergy theory, this paper extracts the contents of stakeholders’ collaboration, industrial collaboration, structural collaboration, construction technology upgrading, factor endowment upgrading, innovation service upgrading, and construction process upgrading. These seven items are summarized into four dimensions: dual drive, resource supply, collaborative operation, and trust guarantee, which indicate the direction of ICBI collaborative development. The research results will help to realize the industrialization of new buildings and promote the sustainable development of the construction industry.

The teaching and development of the necessary skills to efficiently implement and develop Internet of Things (IoT) sensor devices is particularly challenging. Traditionally, the development of these skills is achieved with the help of several laboratorial facilities. Here, a full‐stack model to help in this process is presented. This model includes the utilization of a set of tools that can be used to remotely access the available resources, thus creating an "online lab." This "online lab" is of particular interest and usefulness in the current pandemic context and is of particular interest not only for students to have access to real hardware devices, thus developing their skills and knowledge, but also to professional teams collaborating in the development of IoT sensor devices. GitHub and Stack Overflow are often used together for software development. GH-SO users, who use both GitHub and Stack Overflow, contribute to the development of various software projects in GitHub and share their knowledge and experience on software development in Stack Overflow. To widely understand the interests and working habits of GH-SO users on software development, it is important to investigate how GH-SO users utilize GitHub and Stack Overflow. In this paper, we present an exploratory study on GitHub commit and Stack Overflow post activities of GH-SO users. Specifically, we investigate the working habits of GH-SO users on GitHub commit and Stack Overflow post activities. We randomly selected 19,756 of GH-SO users as our target sample and collected 2,819,483 and 2,147,317 of commit activity data and post activity data of the GH-SO users. We then categorized the collected commit and post activity datasets into specific categories on programming languages and statistically analyzed the categorized commit and post activity datasets. As the results of our analysis, we found the following: (1) The overall commit and post activities of the GH-SO users share some similarity. (2) The commit activities gradually change while the post activities drastically change over time. (3) The commit activities of the GH-SO users are broadly distributed while the post activities are narrowly distributed and the commit activity can be better predictor for post activity. (4) The commit activity of the GH-SO users tends to be performed prior post activity. In enterprise software markets, firms are increasingly using services-based business models built on open-source software (OSS) to compete with established, proprietary software firms. Because third-party firms can also strategically contribute to OSS and compete in the services market, the nature of competition between OSS constituents and proprietary software firms can be complex. Moreover, their incentives are likely influenced by the licensing schemes that govern OSS. We study a three-player game and examine how open-source licensing affects competition among an open-source originator, an open-source contributor, and a proprietor competing in an enterprise software market. In this regard, we examine (1) how quality investments and prices are endogenously determined in equilibrium, (2) how license restrictiveness impacts equilibrium investments and the quality of offerings, and (3) how license restrictiveness affects consumer surplus and social welfare. Although some in the open-source community often advocate restrictive licenses such as the GNU General Public License because it is not always in the best interest of the originator for the contributor to invest greater development effort, such licensing can actually be detrimental to both consumer surplus and social welfare when it exacerbates this incentive conflict. We find such an outcome in markets characterized by software providers with similar development capabilities yet cast in favor of the proprietor. In contrast, when these capabilities either become more dispersed or remain similar but tilt in favor of open source, a more restrictive license instead encourages greater effort from the OSS contributor, leads to higher OSS quality, and provides a larger societal benefit. This paper introduces a unified representation for collaborative development of complex services in public safety to explain the infusion of digital technologies into the design of the community resilience processes with respect to the potential hazardous events. It aims at helping to understand how ICT-based knowledge may help stakeholders situated in various positions inside society to participate collaboratively to service development actions. It presents a roadmap to conceive, design, and operationalize the creation of digital artefacts to compound its supporting systems, including the digital one. This representation includes a way of describing the domain of interest to conceive complex services employing human-oriented development, a way of reasoning on the resilience processes complexity, using semantic reasoning along with the time series quality assurance (TSQA) solution ontology, and a way of developing data processing components as internal (technical) services in enterprise information systems to support the design of novel environmental monitoring digital services. A unified semantic reasoning-based approach to evaluate data quality in cyber-physical systems is described to exemplify the creation of a complex public service ecosystem that promotes collaborative knowledge sharing to formalize the domain expertise through the information intensive services. The TSQA ontology integrates knowledge from other domain-specific ontologies to define and share concepts designating observations acquired from sensors, quality issues, methods for detecting quality issues and correcting data, and tags applied to data objects to assure the data traceability. A semantic component that manages the TSQA ontology and the SWRL-encoded rules are introduced in the data acquisition module of a cyber-physical system application for environmental monitoring to solve a specific problem of data cleaning associated with the water resources management. This method is applicable to any time series of measured data.

The development of mobile computing systems is an inherently collaborative activity, and the nature of the collaboration likely affects systems success. Collaboration can lead to faster development of systems and increased creativity, but it may also adversely affect the quality of systems. As one of the most popular and active Web services for developing open source software, Github has been a place of origin of many novel mobile computing systems with the Internet of Things, such as OpenEdge and CloudSim. Meanwhile, Github provides a place for people to collaborate with each other on developing novel mobile service computing systems. In this paper, we explore the effects of collaboration in developing systems hosted by Github and use a model of collaboration to detect bugs of systems aiming to enhance their quality. We conduct an at-scale study of more than five million projects on GitHub to reveal collaboration's effects on the popularity of software systems and speed of development. We find that having more collaborators results in higher popularity but slower development. Projects that use Objective-C are at an even more significant risk for lower development speeds than other projects. We define collaboration networks and co-commit networks, which capture the projects' collaboration patterns and use structural features of these networks to identify files within commits with bugs. By examining 18 large popular projects, we find that involving these features statistically significantly improves bug detection by 6.7% on average.
