Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Marketing Intelligence Music occupies a very important place in people lives and it is commercially relevant to marketers. Although the sales of music have declined, the consumption of music has actually increased, given the prevalence of online music video websites and music streaming. Across the world, more music is being listened to in increasingly varied ways, yet little consumer research has addressed the decision-making process behind its purchase. Traditional music like Fado is an important instrument to support Portuguese internationalization. The modernization of the cultural tradition via music brought Fado to the international market. In this article, we focus on the responses Fado creates in the listener and how those responses influenced the intention to later buy the music, since Fado is a genuine and an internationalized cultural product as well as it's a symbol and represents the presence of Portugal in the World. The data was collected from an online questionnaire conducted to 213 Portuguese music listeners. A Fado song was used as the sample stimuli, since Fado is a typical Portuguese musical genre and it is crucial to understand the preferences of people and what makes a song popular. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to verify and validate the research model. The results show that the sensorial, emotional, imaginal responses to music all had direct effects on the affective response, which in turn influenced purchase intention. Analytical response is also considered; however, it does not have the same effect on consumers psychologic states, due to the fact it does not have a positive direct impact on affective response. Our findings also indicate that familiarity and surprise factors play a potent role in increasing the affective response, evidencing the importance of a mix between “new” and “old” as well as distribution which is important to people could better know the existence of a song. Here, the same reasoning can be applied to the affective response which has shown to have positive direct effect on purchase intention. This study fills the gap in the literature, where little attention has been devoted to examining the factors influencing the digitalization of traditional music like fado. The findings help to understand how culture works, how it provides affective responses on others, helping musicians and recording labels to develop better market strategies.

Procedeu-se a uma descrição sumária de todos os procedimentos e intervenções que foram necessários para preparar a resposta do Serviço de Doenças Infeciosas do Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra à pandemia de COVID-19, na fase de contenção. A estrutura física do Serviço foi totalmente reajustada e as equipas tiveram de alterar profundamente os seus processos. A Cultura Organizacional influencia diretamente sobre o comportamento das pessoas que formam uma empresa ou organização, um dos momentos críticos desta relação é a implementação dos processos de recrutamento, seleção e treinamento de pessoas. Esta pesquisa aplicada está inserida na área de administração de recursos humanos. Tem como objetivo descrever como a cultura organizacional influência os processos de recrutamento, seleção e treinamento de pessoas. A empresa objeto da pesquisa é classificada como médio porte e tem como objetivo social o ensino fundamental e médio. Para cumprimento do objetivo utilizou-se do método qualitativo, a partir de estudo de caso. Foi constatado que os principais traços culturais da instituição encontram seu fundamento na proposta educativa criada por Dom Bosco, o chamado Sistema Preventivo de Dom Bosco. Foi identificado certa dissonância entre a fala dos grupos entrevistados quanto a importância do valor da cultura organizacional nos processos de recrutamento, seleção e treinamento, fato que revela que estes procedimentos podem ser otimizados, levando a maior assertividade na contratação e na posterior qualidade dos serviços prestados.

É descrita como uma doença que proporciona uma redução do número de neurónios, com diminuição da síntese dos neurotransmissores de uma forma lenta, progressiva e irreversível. É um mal social que actualmente não tem cura, uma das piores doenças em todo o mundo e que afecta em maior número os idosos. A grande dificuldade na resolução definitiva desta questão prende-se, essencialmente, com a complexidade do diagnóstico clínico e com a ambiguidade dos critérios de diagnóstico correntes. O carácter subjectivo de alguns sintomas e a fiabilidade duvidosa dos instrumentos utilizados na sua avaliação constituem dificuldades adicionais no seu diagnóstico rigoroso e conclusivo. O desenvolvimento do conceito de demência e diagnóstico revela ser fulcral para o melhor entendimento da doença de Alzheimer. Neste trabalho é possível inferir como se manifesta a doença de Alzheimer, passando pela caracterização do péptido β-amilóide e da proteína precursora amilóide e de todos os processos envolvidos, assim como a relação que existe com o colesterol e a cafeína. O equilíbrio dos metais iónicos é crucial para muitas funções fisiológicas, em particular no sistema nervoso central. Os iões metálicos como o cobre, o ferro e o zinco são essenciais para o desenvolvimento e manutenção de várias actividades enzimáticas, funções mitocondriais, neurotransmissão, bem como memorização e aprendizagem. As células têm a capacidade de controlar a homeostasia dos iões metálicos. Contudo, havendo uma desregulação na homeostasia dos metais iónicos e uma consequente alteração do balanço iónico, pode resultar num estado grave de doença, proporcionando desordens neurodegenerativas como a doença de Alzheimer. O melhor entendimento de todas as interacções dos iões metálicos com os componentes intra e extracelulares do sistema nervoso central, em condições normais, e durante o processo de neurodegeneração, é essencial para o desenvolvimento de terapias eficazes. The Alzheimer disease was firstly identified in 1906 by the German psychiatrist and neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer. We can consider this disease as leading to a decrease of the number of neurons, by a reduction of the synthesis of the neurotransmitters through a slow, progressive and irreversible way. Being one of the worst illnesses all over the world, it’s obviously a social problem with no cure which attacks majority the oldest people. The big difficulty for the definite resolution of this question is mainly concerned with the complexity of the clinical diagnosis and the ambiguity of the current diagnosis standards. The subjective character of some symptoms and the dubious viability of the methods used in its evaluation can be additional difficulties in its accurate and conclusive diagnosis. The development of the concept of insanity and diagnostic reveals itself as essential for a best understanding of the Alzheimer disease. In this dissertation it’s possible to conclude how the Alzheimer disease can happen through the characterization of the β-amyloid peptide and the amyloid precursor protein, as well as all the involved methods and the relation with the cholesterol and the caffeine. The equilibrium of the ionic metals is crucial for many physiological functions, specially in the central nervous system. The metallic ions like copper, iron and zinc are essential for the continuity and the maintenance of the several enzymatic activities, the mythocondrial functions, the neurotransmission and also the memorization and the apprenticeship. The cells have the hability of controlling the homeostasis of the metallic ions. However, the disruption in the homeostasis of the metallic ions and a consequent change of the ionic balance can lead to a severe state of the disease, causing neurodegenerative disorders such as the Alzheimer disease. The best comprehension of all the interactions between the metallic ions and the intra and extra cells constituents of the central nervous system, in normal conditions and during the process of neurodegeneration, is decisive to the progress of efficient and successful therapies.
