The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different adherent agents, specifically mandacaru extract, polyvinyl acetate-based glue, and cassava gum, on the pelleting process of creole maize seeds with rock powder. Pelleting serves as a valuable method to enhance the seeds' worth and contribute to an increased market value. Creole seeds, commonly produced in family farming, possess inherent resistance and wide genetic variability, which have been inherited from their ancestors. The research was conducted at the Plant Propagation Laboratory, affiliated with the Campus of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences at the Federal University of Alagoas. Rock dust (MB-4) was used as the coating material for the seeds. The following parameters were evaluated: water content, weight of one thousand seeds, initial germination count, germination rate, germination speed index, average germination time, germination uncertainty, root and shoot length, and dry mass. Among the adherent agents tested, cassava gum exhibited the highest efficiency for pelletizing maize seeds with rock dust. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum spp., is an important disease of atemoya that can infect and cause damage to different plant organs. The symptoms include foliar anthracnose, flower abortion, branch tip bleaching, and necrotic lesions on fruits. Knowing the etiology of this disease is essential for properly developing management strategies. Therefore, this study aimed to identify Colletotrichum species associated with atemoya in the Northeast region of Brazil, based on multi-locus phylogeny and morphological analyses, to better understand the etiology of anthracnose in this plant species. The Colletotrichum isolates were obtained from symptomatic leaves and branches of atemoya collected in commercial fields in Vitória da Conquista (Bahia), Palmeira dos Índios and Rio Largo (Alagoas), located in northeast Brazil. The initial analysis of the partial sequences of the GAPDH gene was performed with nineteen Colletotrichum isolates obtained from leaves and branches of atemoya trees with typical anthracnose symptoms. Seventeen isolates were grouped in the gloeosporioides complex and two in the boninense complex. Therefore, eleven isolates were submitted to concatenated phylogenetic analyses with the genes GAPDH, TUB2, and ITS region of the rDNA to confirm the identity of the isolates at the species level. The species C. theobromicola, C. siamense, C. fructicola and C. karstii were identified and are associated with atemoya anthracnose in the Northeast region of Brazil. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pomegranate is a fruit rich in vitamins and secondary metabolites used in traditional medicine and industry. However, production losses have been associated the anthracnose, disease caused by Colletotrichum species. This is an important disease of the pomegranate, as it affects the yield and the quality of the fruits. The present study aimed to investigate which species of Colletotrichum are associated with anthracnose disease in pomegranate in the Northeast region of Brazil, using multi-locus phylogenetic analysis and morpho-cultural characteristics. The total DNA extracted was amplified with GAPDH, TUB2, CAL, ACT genes and the ITS-rDNA region. The sequences obtained were used for the construction of phylogenetic trees of Bayesian inference. The mycelial growth rate, size and shape of the conidia and appressories were evaluated for the morpho-cultural characterization of the species. Six isolates were analysis and three species belonging to the C. gloeosporioides complex were identified in this study. This is the first report of C. theobromicola (2) in pomegranate fruit in Brazil and C. siamense (2) and C. fructicola (2) in the world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The school violence is a problem that exists in most of the schools, whether public or private, a reality that has become a serious social problem. Among various kinds of violence that reach the school, the bullying phenomena have gained prominence. In that sense, this work had as the main objective identify if exists differences between bullying practiced by boys and girls, its intensity and characteristics. For the data gathering, we used a questionnaire, following the structured model by the English institution Kidscape, containing essay and multiple choice questions. This research was realized in a municipal school, located in a suburban district of Presidente Prudente (SP) city, with 52 students of the 5th grade elementary school involved. The results show that there are differences in bullying practiced by boys and girls. Boys are more aggressive and use physical strength, being easy to identify; Girls aggression is more subtlety, being harder to identify the practice. Concerning the effects and consequences on victims, the study indicates a similarity in both genres: after the aggression, they didn't want to go to school anymore, showing the desire of retaliate the bullying practice, against their aggressors. Today, much has been said about violence in school. Among the different types of violence that manifest Intra School, bullying has been highlighted in recent years. In this sense, this research aimed to discuss the influence of environment on the sociomoral practices of bullying in the classroom. Specifically we seek to characterize the phenomenon of bullying as a specific form of violence, to discuss bullying in the context of relationships established within the school sociomorais; sociomorais understand how the relationships established between students pairs are able to influence the practice of bullying. The investigation was performed in a public school in the city of Presidente Prudente (SP). Participants were 40 students in the 6th grade of elementary school between 10 and 11 years of age. Was used as an instrument for data collection, the application of two questionnaires answered by students. The number 01 questionnaire aimed at identifying how the subjects investigated sociomoral evaluate the environment of their classrooms, the number 02 questionnaire sought to identify the occurrence and intensity of bullying at school as well as the involvement of individuals, either as victims, perpetrators and / or spectators. The data obtained by means of two questionnaires, received treatment quantitative quali, whereby the responses of those investigated were crossed in order to identify the possible relationship between the environment of the classroom sociomoral and intensity of bullying by students. This study analyzed whether the activities of occupational gymnastic promote the satisfaction of the worker, generate motivational stimuli for carrying out their tasks, induce sentiments of welfare and good interpersonal relationships at work and within the family. The group sharing this research was composed of a population of 24 women and 20 men aged 20 to 51 years, who practice occupational gymnastics on the premises of a factory in the city of Presidente Prudente, five times a week, from Mondays to Fridays, during the morning and afternoon. The instrument of data collection was a questionnaire containing nine questions that aimed to identify the level of satisfaction, motivation and welfare of workers in the context of work and family. The inquiry proved that the occupational gymnastics is capable to improve the satisfaction of the worker with his task, since it causes happier and reduce body pains. The subjects declared that the practice of occupational gymnastics raises the will to share the domestic tasks, improve the disposition to the family leisure and causes a substantial change in the mood.
