The process of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (Freon-134a) hydrate dissociation was studied using high-resolution pulsed NMR technique. The diffusional-kinetic nature of the process, its kinetic parameters (rate constant and half-life time), and the characteristic feature that the residual hydrate is stabilized by the products of its dissociation were established experimentally. It was found that this effect abates significantly with rise of temperature and that the activation energy of freon hydrate dissociation is comparable to dissociation of hydrates which are relatively stable at atmospheric pressure.
