The core of this thesis is capturing the concept of liminality in the past works of Salman Rushdie, specifically in novels The Satanic Verses, The Ground Beneath Her Feet and Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights. Selected characters and motifs of these novels reflect autobiographical elements, thus the aim of the thesis is to describe the transformation of the concept of liminality in chronological progression, where these novels represent three periods in which the author's perception of home and migration differ substantially from one another. The phenomenon of liminality is described within the frame of postcolonial literary theory and attention is therefore paid to the notion of "other" in relation to home and its cultural specificities, as well as in relation to the migrant's new homeland. The analysis of these works and their abstraction into three representative periods form a frame of reference for comparison with possible future works of the author.

Title: Project of crisis preparedness for an epidemic in the home for elderly. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out how the social services workers had been prepared for the COVID-19 epidemic based on their own experience. Methods: The questionare was created for this research. The respondents had the choice of several options in the multiple-choice questions ,which was given by the type of research question. For several questions respondents had the opportunity to extend the question with their own answer. The scale from 1 to 10 was used for answering to two questions and the scale from 1 to 5 was used for one question. Results: The result of this bachelor thesis is findings that at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic social workers had not been prepared for this situation. The next waves of COVID-19 epidemic have highlighted the areas of the contingency plan that the social workers need to focus on in order to be better prepared for epidemic like COVID-19. The text explains the phenomenon of hope from a phenomenological point of view, i tis an explanation of hope and its understanding in the context of human live. We know hope from a Christian perspective, such as salvation salvation, forgiveness, hope for eternal life. In the postmodern age, human existence has changed and hope needs to be thought through in new contexts. The question arises as to what is really hope. Althought it does not seem important, understanding hope and distinguising it is a condition of well-being of the individual and society. Hope must not be an illusion or a mere daily hope of fulfilling our wishes. Hope is above all action, it is not surrender and resignation. True, transcendent hope is born in deep crisis, pain, abandonment, it comes to us in patience, in the act of acceptance, reconciliation. Hope is an awareness of the future in spite of reality. Hope is perseverance, humility and mystery. Hope is joy, it is a force that comes to us from an unidentifiable place, but it spreads everywhere. The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the importance and significance of the home phenomenon in terms of the education of the human individual. The work captures the development of views on this issue from the perspective of ancient, Czech and world philosophers. The philosophy of the home will be further discussed from the point of view of Patočka and Lévinas. The work will also try to offer some answers to some current questions of society, which relate to the home and its loss. The issue of education and care for the soul are also discussed.

This diploma thesis deals with the mediation of the topic of home and its forms to children in kindergarten by the method of working with a book. The aim of this work is to select suitable books that offer different forms of home, whether in traditional or alternative form, and to create methodological material for them that would help children understand that each home is different. Based on this methodological material, verify the lessons by three selected teachers and assess according to the reflection whether this material is suitable as a methodology for the topic. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the various forms of home and shows the location of this topic in the Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education. The aim of my thesis is to analyze an integration process of women with international protection. The emphasis is placed on women and their migratory experiences. I believe that the role of gender in migration and integration studies is still neglected even though women often experience very specific situations as a result of the gender roles assigned to them by patriarchal societies. I monitor the integration of women with international protection within the context of services provided by the State Integration Program. I am interested in how specific services impact research participants and their daily lives in a new environment. The trajectory of the integration process is examined from the decision to migrate, through leaving the home country, acculturative stress, first contact with Czech society, to present and future visions. One of the tools of the State Integration Program is the assistance provided in the area of housing. I pay particular attention to housing, as I consider the loss of home, the search and reformation of a new one to be key aspects affecting the integration process. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of homelessness among the young people. The rates of people in the age 18-26 who are endangered by social exclusion are steadily rising in the Czech Republic. The most vulnerable are those from dysfunctional homes as well as those lacking their families entirely. Those individuals tend to be raised in institutional care usually lacking in role models and have little to no financial and social resources at their disposal. Social exclusion always originates from variety of different problems that need to be taken care of before they become too severe. That is why I decided to identify the characteristics of this group of people and specify the appropriate methods of cooperation. I define the various ways of prevention and support. In addition to that, I describe persisting barriers in the current system of social services. Last but not least, I aim to present information about the process of social inclusion, together with its successes and shortcomings young people may encounter during the procedure. The scope of this work will be a comparative analysis of selected texts of John Steinbeck and William Saroyan, two important American writers of the 20th century with focusing on the characteristics of main characters. Theoretical basis of the work will be based on a brief introduction of both authors and their work as well as on their approach to the literary-historical context. In this regard the work reminds the issue of naturalism, the question of determination and the mening of the American dream. The interpretation itself will focus on types of individual characters and their role in stories in relation with the theoretical background of the work.

More than one hundred thousand people die every year in the Czech Republic. Almost three quarters of them die in hospitals. However, a large percentage of people would like to die at home. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to map the differences of nursing care provided to the dying at home and in a retirement home. In connection with this goal, we have identified four research questions. The first one focused on the particularities nurses in nursing homes see nursing care for the dying. This was followed by a second question that dealt with the particularities of nursing care at home. The third and fourth questions concerned nursing problems dying at the home and retirement home. The empirical part of the work was elaborated using the methods of qualitative research; the data collection was carried out using the technique of a semi-structured interview. The basis for the interview was a total of 41 questions, which in some cases were supplemented by supplementary questions. The obtained results were then processed using the pencil-paper method. The research group consisted of five general nurses working in a retirement home and six nurses working in home care. On the basis of the findings, it can be said that the results of this work show some differences in the provision of care to the dying between the home for the elderly and the home environment. However, these differences do not relate to activities resulting from the nursing process, but to the basic, especially the emotional-intimate function of the family, different conditions for dying and cooperation with the family. On the other hand, it should be noted that nursing problems and dying needs are expressed in both facilities in the same way. The results of the work can serve as a basis for a presentation at a professional nursing training seminar.

The diplom a thesis deals with home and its concepts in philosophical works. The aim was to grasp and describe home as a philosophical category, using the ideas and theories that we found in the Czech philosophical texts that came out during the 20th and 21st centuries. Through these available information, we have attempted to unify and create a more coherent, interconnected theory, in which we divided home intoseveral basic chapters that are absolutely decisive and decisive for the concept and understanding of home, both past and present.

The monographic thesis mainly solves poetry and prose of Josef Mach, the Czech writer, journalist and clerk. It watches literary progress of his poetics according to the era context, influenc of places, historical and social events and inspirations of other artists who surrounded him. The work look into the texts and lyrics by a diachronic and synchronic way. The section about his original works is followed by a chapter about translations of several novels, because he acted even on this literary field. Then the general outline of the reception of Mach's personality and works since the time of his life until today. The whole thesis is introduced by Mach's biography to which it returns in many topics because his works have an empiric character and it is closely connected to the life. The object of the thesis is to sum information about all these topics and give it as a base for future expert research.

Studium různých forem přináležení a vztahování se k místům a více či méně místně vázaným společenstvím má v sociologii dlouhou tradici. Text představuje dílčí závěry z výzkumu bydlení samostatně žijících osob. Domov je pro účely této studie pojímán jako etnografický kontext a také jako jeden z mnohovrstevnatých konceptů praxe, který strukturuje jednání lidí. V návaznosti na kritickou geografii domova Blunt a Dowling chápeme město jako jednu z významných vrstev domova. V textu identifikujeme tři způsoby budování a prožívání domova samostatně žijících, a to „domov jako volbu“, „domov jako projekt“ a „domov prožitý“. Dále ukazujeme, že město je z hlediska prožitku ambivalentním prostorem, který poskytuje specifické požitky, současně však může aktivizovat negativní prožívání samostatného bydlení či single statusu.

Cílem studie je navázat na současný stav bádání o vztahu bezdomovectví a představy domova v České republice. Na základě svého více než tříletého etnografického výzkumu bezdomovců v lokalitě středně velkého města (zahrnující aktivní zúčastněné pozorování a polostrukturované rozhovory s bezdomovci) a dílčích aspektů sociální struktury/organizace bezdomovecké skupiny popisuji (a) aktérskou definici domova; (b) nutné prvky emické definice domova; (c) opuštěnou budovu (emicky nazývanou Hilton), z níž někteří obyvatelé deklarovali, že ji považují za domov, a (d) vybrané mechanismy sociální organizace bezdomovecké skupiny. Základními pozicemi sociální struktury jsou submisivní solitéři, agresivní solitéři, submisivní skupinky a dominantní skupinky. Aktérská definice zahrnuje sociální vazby, pocit bezpečí, fyzické dispozice obydlí a jeho vybavenost. Sociální organizace odkazuje k utváření sociálních vazeb (sdílení, darování, půjčování), sociální hierarchizaci (trestání za neoplácení daru a nesplácení půjček, sklon k použití násilí) a morální ekonomii (od sdílení k okrádání). Specifická konfigurace těchto aspektů vytváří potenciál pro vnímání určitého místa coby domova. Tento interpretační rámec vysvětluje, proč někteří bezdomovci mají domov, a zároveň poodkrývá praxe, které se spolupodílí na produkci jeho absence.

This Master's diploma thesis elaborates on the history of Odry region, particularly the period after World War II, when it underwent a significant transformation. The goal od the thesis is to do a thorough micro-historical research of the postwar history of the region with respect to the transformation of the formerly German areas into the reclaimed lands of the Czech nation. It is divided into several chapters. In the first chapter I evaluate the source base to the topic; I investigate various literature related to the transfer of the Germans and the frontier settlement (its regional provenance being taken into account), archival sources and narratives - memories of displaced Germans from the presently analyzed region and several examples of the recorded oral-history interviews. In other six chapters I elucidate the situation of the Odry region in particular periods: in 1938, during World War II, and in the era of the liberation, followed by the transfer of the German population and the process of a new habitation. The last chapter then discusses the postwar Odry region as a home both lost and obtained. This thesis is focused on the representation and characterization of female characters in the novel The Deerslayer from The Leatherstocking Tales pentalogy from James Fenimore Cooper in contrast to the concept of female characters in the book from Louisa May Alcott Little Women. There is analyzed images of female fictional heroines living in the American wilderness in the years 1740-1805, and these findings are compared with the representation of women in the 19th century domestic novel Little Women. The way of creating female characters is analyzed in relation to the other characters, the space in which they live, the storyline and contemporary values. This analysis should in a literary historical aspect reveal how much the role of a woman becomes a mere fulfillment of a simplified scheme and how it also has many meanings of full-fledged components in literary work. The thesis discusses the seniors living in their own homes. Specifically, it is the elderly who use social care services. Thanks to these services, some may remain in home care. The text of the thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the author describes concepts such as old age, quality of life, home, living in old age, social services and other essential concepts. The practical part contains the research, which was compiled from interviews with seniors. The aim of this thesis is to find contentment in the life of seniors living in their own homes who use social care services.

The main theme of this dissertation is the phenomenon of home. The dissertation is intended to be thought-provoking about the issues of home. The aim of this paper is to clarify the phenomenon of home in relevance to present day and to find the answers to home-relevant questions and relating to the housing of man on this Earth. The dissertation itself is arranged into five chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the ancient Greek roots of the term "home" and briefly describes how the subject is viewed by linguistic scientists and how it is defined by selected social sciences. The second and the third chapters are at the core of this dissertation and describe in detail the phenomenon of home in the conception of two significant phenomenological thinkers, Czech philosopher Jan Patočka and German philosopher Martin Heidegger. The fourth chapter describes the issues of home through a reception of poetry by famous Czech poets. This thesis deals with the functioning of the family in connection with the physiological and psychosocial development of children. It also describes the reasons why children are taken away from the family and the options of residential care. The first option is institutional care in orphanages and therefore we mention several organisations that offer projects to help these children in particular to have an easier entry to life after the completion of institutional care. The empirical part of this study analyses the background, the habits and also the preparation of young adults to leave the orphanage in two institutions: Primary school and Orphanage Přestavlky and Orphanage Klánovice. It includes personal life stories of several children not only from the two orphanages but also from children brought up in foster care. The main goal of this thesis was to find out whether the children brought up in orphanages have different vision of the future in comparison with children raised in foster care. The results of our open- ended interview survey are presented in the final part of this paper.

The work focuses on understanding the concept of the sacredness and the importance of rituals in contemporary family. It shows how the sacredness is understood by pupils at primary school compared to high school students and what the role of sacredness in their current and future lives is. The author handles the theoretical part on the basis of literature and a practical part is based on questionnaires distributed to students of primary and secondary schools. The aim is to handle the sacred topic from different perspectives and compare different approaches and opinions of students at this topic. The result is a detailed overview of the topics in the curriculum within it is possible to teach the sacred topics in those classes. The author will respect the principles of professional work and regularly consult with the supervisor.

Creation of Home among Vietnamese living in Czech Republic Abstract The aim of this paper is to determine through an analysis of interviews how the migrants create such an environment to feel like at home in it. The paper is divided into five chapters. In the first part is review of selected concepts of migration and concepts of home. The second part describes the methodology and also are there introduced research participants. The third part describes how the Vietnamese came to the Czech Republic and how many are currently living in the Czech Republic. The last part contents the analysis of the interviews. The analysis showed that the family is, in host society, able to create a home through maintenance of religious customs, customs of eating and through material artifacts. (in English) The bachelor work observes selected short stories taken from the book called Cròniques de la veritat oculta written by Catalan author Pere Calders. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the poetics which is typical for this writer. It investigates topics which are often repeated, symbols and space where the plot takes place. It compares the short stories of Calders with other works of writers within the same literary genre who use similar storytelling methods. The emphasis is put mainly on the comparison with the output of Franz Kafka.
