Homoeoneuria Eaton, 1881 is a genus of the Oligoneuriidae family whose geographical distribution remains poorly documented, especially in the Northern region of South America. Here we confirm the record of Homoeoneuria in Colombia, thus extending its distribution in South America beyond the records from Brazil, Peru, and Argentina. The confirmation was done on three nymphs from the department of Cesar found on sandy-silt sediments in the transition between the Andean and Caribbean regions.

The family Baetidae is the most diverse family into the Order Ephemeroptera and it has an almost cosmopolitan distribution. The genus Americabaetis Kluge was described in 1992 and actually it has 19 known species with a clearly Neotropical distribution. Although this genus is very common in lotic aquatic systems, it has been poorly studied in Argentina. Herein, we report four species for this country originally described from Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay: A. labiosus Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, A. longetron Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, A. mecistognathus Salles & Raimundi, A. titthion Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty. The species of Leptohyphidae occurring in the Yungas cloud forest are studied. Eighteen species from five genera are known from the region, including the following new country records: Leptohyphes liniti Wang, Sites & McCafferty, L. maculatus Allen, L. nigripennis Molineri & Zúñiga, L. setosus Allen, and Tricorythodes hiemalis Molineri from Bolivia; Leptohyphes hirsutus Allen & Roback and L. petersi Allen from Bolivia and Argentina; and Tricorythodes quizeri Molineri from Argentina. Diagnoses, illustrations, and keys to distinguish the treated species are presented. The study of the distribution of these species revealed three different patterns: 1) a group of five species restricted to the Yungas; 2) a group of eight species that extend their ranges toward the montane forest in the north; and 3) a group of three species also present in southern areas (central Argentina and northern Patagonia).

MAYFLIES , *TEMPERATURE , *SPECIFIC gravity , *ATMOSPHERIC temperature , *WATER temperature - Abstract
Daily emergence of mayflies in Neotropical rivers and their causes have been poorly studied. In temperate zones, this process is better known and attributed to several factors. In this work, we studied the daily emergence of subimagines of several Ephemeroptera genera in La Picón River of a Venezuelan Andean cloud forest and its relation with changes of environmental temperature. Four emergence traps were placed along a reach of 50 m of the stream, each one was examined each two hours in a 24 hr cycle to capture the newly emerged subimagos. This procedure was repeated for eight dates between November-2007 and February-2008 for a total of 32 observations in each sampling hour. The subimagos were reared to adults and identified to genus. The relative density of emergence per trap was calculated for each genus and sampling hour. Water and air temperature were measured each hour during the daily cycle of observation, and the averages of temperature and hour-degrees of air and water were calculated for each hour from the eight dates studied. Seven genera were identified: Leptohyphes Eaton, 1882 and Haplohyphes Allen 1966 (Leptohyphidae); Prebaetodes Lugo-Ortiz and McCafferty, 1996, Andesiops Lugo-Ortiz and McCafferty, 1999, Baetodes Needham and Murphy, 1924 and Americabaetis Kluge, 1992 (Baetidae); and Thraulodes Ulmer, 1920 (Leptophlebiidae); being the more abundant Leptohyphes (38.4 %) and Thraulodes (20.5 %). The emergence occurred between 11:00 am and 23:00 pm showing the following: a) an emergence initiated during daylight hours by organisms of Leptohyphes, Prebaetodes and Haplohyphes; b) a nocturnal emergence, in Thraulodes, Andesiops, Baetodes and Americabaetis; and c) two peaks: one diurnal produced by Leptohyphes and other nocturnal with predominance of Thraulodes. These results are the first records on the diurnal daily emergence in Andesiops, Prebaetodes, Americabaetis, Haplohyphes, and Leptohyphes, as well as the nocturnal emergence in Thraulodes. It was evidenced that Leptohyphes, with small nymphs (average head width = 1.05 mm) needed to accumulate less hourdegrees to initiate the emergence than those required by Thraulodes whose nymphs are larger (average head width = 2.01 mm). This disparity in the emergence energy requirements must be consequence of differences between the sizes of mature nymphs of both genera; facts which rely on the constancy of sizes shown by these taxa along an altitudinal-thermal gradient and the little daily and seasonal variability of water temperature in La Picón River. In the daily lapse when the emergence occurred, the air and water average temperatures were higher than those registered in the no-emergence lapse; therefore; it is suggested that during the daily lapse, when this process occurs, the environment is thermally favorable for the emergence of subimagos and their survival out of water. [EN] This article presents the intervention process carried out on a work of art created by artist Yolanda Gutiérrez Acosta, using a series of ephemeral materials such as butterfly wings and agave thorns. The work, an installation from 2002, is entitled `Efímeras¿ (`Ephemera¿) and consists of 12 flowers mounted on acetate sheets and attached to the same with vinyl acetate copolymers and acrylic acid esters (Mowilith®). These flowers are installed on the floor in a bed of dried flowers. The conservation of contemporary art can lead to some previously unimaginable problems for restorers. Current works of art are somewhat material in nature, but they also have a conceptual dimension that is essential for their artistic interpretation. The artist¿s participation in the decision-making process prior to the restoration was quite useful. The passage of time, its effect on the work, and the need to understand the possibility of the demise and destruction of the work were implicit as of the onset of its creation, such that, according to the artist, we are forced to reflect upon the possibilities of its future state.

In the daily lapse when the emergence occurred, the air and water average temperatures were higher than those registered in the no-emergence lapse; therefore; it is suggested that during the daily lapse, when this process occurs, the environment is thermally favorable for the emergence of subimagos and their survival out of water.

AbstractDaily emergence of mayflies in Neotropical rivers and their causes have been poorly studied. These results are the first records on the diurnal daily emergence in Andesiops,Prebaetodes,Americabaetis, Haplohyphes, and Leptohyphes, as well as the nocturnal emergence in Thraulodes. With the aim of contributing to the knowledge of the species of Haplohyphes in Colombia , the nymphs and adults of the species of the genus were identified and associated using morphological and molecular characters. To obtain the material and review of the distribution of species in the country, loans of specimens and visits to different collections of the country and Argentina were conducted. For identification and species association of the nymphs and adults, morphological characters were revised, the type species were studied and DNA sequences from regions of two mitochondrial genes (cytochrome Oxidase I y 12S) were considered. Three hundred and eighty eight specimens of Haplohyphes aquilonius, 178 of Haplohyphes baritu and 104 of Haplohyphes mithras were identified. Haplohyphes baritu is recorded for the first time from Colombia , which was previously known only from northwestern Argentina and southwestern Bolivia . Also, the distribution range of H. mithras and H. aquilonius is expanded. Both species are recorded from Departments located in the Andean region of Colombia , namely Antioquia, Boyacá, Caldas, Caquetá, Cauca, Huila, Putumayo. In addition, the nymph of H. mithras was recorded for the first time. It is confirmed that the sequences of mitochondrial DNA constitute a useful tool to associate both adults and nymphs of species of Haplohyphes.

In the country, the taxonomic knowledge at the species level for this order is still incipient, since many regions remain without reports. In the department of Putumayo there are no reports of Ephemeroptera, despite de great number of water resources, located from the foothills of the Andean mountain range to the Amazonian plains. Therefore, the objective of this work was to perform a preliminary study of the Ephemeroptera fauna in this department, which to date is unknown. Ephemeroptera material from four municipalities of Putumayo (Colón, Sibundoy, Santiago, and Mocoa) was examined, which were deposited in the Entomological Collection CEBUC of the Universidad de Caldas and the Zoological Collection PSO-CZ of the Universidad de Nariño. A total of 373 individuals were studied, identified in three families, nine genera, and eight species, which are: Baetidae: Andesiops peruvianus (Ulmer), Baetodes aff. spinae Mayo, Baetodes aff. levis Mayo, Baetodes awa Salinas, Camelobaetidius edmundsi Dominique, Thomas & Mathuriau, Mayobaetis ellenae (Mayo), Prebaetodes sitesi Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty; Leptohyphidae: Tricorythodes sp.n., Haplohyphes sp., Leptohyphes nigripennis, Molineri & Zúñiga; Leptophlebiidae: Thraulodes spp.

The genus Varipes is reported for the frst time for Venezuela. a new species of the genus Varipes is described. Nymphs of V. sancarlos n. sp. were collected in the San Carlos river, Cojedes. The morphology of the nymphs similar to descriptions of other Varipes species. Physical habitat and water quality conditions at the San Carlos River suggest that V. sancarlos can occur in moderately disturbed rivers.
