Objectives; Report the experience of using play through the interactive panel as a strategy for adherence to antiretroviral therapy in children living with HIV to assist in care management. Methods: Descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the experience report type, using educational material, interactive panel type, for health education, from 2019 to 2023. The experience in applying the technology involved different moments, such as defining the therapeutic plan, knowledge of the target audience, construction of the interactive panel, implementation of the interactive panel. Results: It was identified that some children were resistant to taking medication daily, in an attempt to develop different ways to encourage children and families about the importance of ART, as an initial proposal, it was decided to use play as a health education tool, thus, the construction of the interactive panel took place. In this way, play stimulates the individual's perception of the world and its complexity, in a simplified way, making them more involved in complex issues. Conclusions; The implementation of playful educational strategies, through technology, in health services, can help with adherence to drug treatment, improving care and quality of life for children with HIV.

Introduction: The frequent occurrence of adverse events during hospital admission demands proactive means of risk management, including checking trackers/triggers. Objective: To verify the factors associated with triggers and adverse events in pediatric hospitalization. Material and Methods: Cross-sectional research based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) methodology, through the application of the Pediatric Trigger Tool (PTT) to a sample (n= 194) from medical records of pediatric patients from a hospital in the Center-West of Brazil. Descriptive, inferential statistical analysis and Poisson regression were performed. Results: More than half (n=107; 55.15%) of patients had at least one trigger upon admission. 204 triggers were identified, with the highest occurrence of a drop in hemoglobin/hematocrit (9.80%), a drop in oxygen saturation (9.80%) and an increase in kidney function markers (9.20%). Of the total triggers, 64 (31.37%) adverse events were confirmed, which were mostly classified as temporary damage requiring patient support (65.62%). The length of stay (p-value=0.004) and the nature of the hospitalization (p-value<0.001) were variables associated with the occurrence of triggers. Character of hospitalization and admissions from other institutions were predictors of the occurrence of triggers and adverse events. Discussion: The study found 31.37% of triggers resulting in harm to the patient, early detection is essential in pediatric patient safety, prolonged hospitalizations are linked to infections and adverse events, patient transfers require rigorous and effective safety measures. Conclusions: Prolonged hospitalizations and children admitted via transfer deserve attention to triggers and/or adverse events. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL distancing , *CHILD development , *LANGUAGE acquisition , *PSYCHOLOGICAL stress , *SENSORY deprivation , *INFANT care , *CHILDREN with developmental disabilities - Abstract
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic reduced the possibilities of generating stimulating spaces for children’s development, as all the systems with which a child interacts during this phase were affected. Objective: To identify the existing scientific evidence about the effects on child development in children aged less than 5 years old that were living with their parents while the social distancing measures adopted due to COVID-19 were in force. Method: An integrative review guided by the framework proposed by Whittemore and Knafl and the PRISMA statement, to consult the following databases: Medline, ScienceDirect, Scopus and SciELO, with a search performed in English using these descriptors: “child development,” “growth and development,” “parenting,” “teleworking,” “infant care,” “home nursing,” “social isolation,” “coronavirus infections,” and “COVID-19.” The eligibility criteria were as follows: quantitative or qualitative studies that addressed the direct effects of the pandemic on children aged less than 5 years old; in turn, the exclusion criteria corresponded to articles with a population comprised of children with diagnosed developmental disorders or disabilities. Results: A total of 17 articles were included, whose findings were classified into the following categories: Exposure to risk stimuli, Deprivation of stimuli, and Exposure to protective stimuli. It is revealed that parental stress, absence of games and lower exposure to interactions that promote development are connected to changes in cognitive, emotional, and learning processing, in addition to exerting a negative impact on motor and language development. Conclusion: The evidence suggests that social distancing can be the main cause for the onset of delays in child development, in its motor, language, cognitive, and socioemotional areas.

The descriptive analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science software, version 18. Results: predominantly, the companions of the children and adolescents were the mothers themselves, 90.1%, and about 40% lived with family income lower than a minimum wage. Among the children and adolescents, 54% had high glycated hemoglobin values, even though they were undergoing treatment; 65.4% indicated ignorance of the correct form of insulin storage, and 77.6% had lipohypertrophy. Conclusion: socioeconomic vulnerability and ineffective clinical management of type 1 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents were predominant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: to describe the strategies to be used in the continuing education of nursing professionals about end-of-life palliative care in pediatric oncology. Methods: qualitative research, data collection through semi-structured interviews. Twenty-nine nursing professionals who work in the pediatric sector of an oncology reference hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. Data were processed by the Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires software using the descending hierarchical classification method. Results: educational strategies with nursing professionals should include a psychological approach, have the presence of a multidisciplinary team, be carried out in groups, periodically, and encourage participation and interaction. Conclusion: the study results show that to promote continuing education it is necessary to use strategies that facilitate the verbalization of feelings and emotions and that go beyond technical competence. Introduction: Children with tetralogy of Fallot face great challenges during their postoperative stage, so nurses must recognize the mechanisms involved in this process, to help them reach an integrated physiological and psychosocial level of adaptation. Objective: The objective of the study was to establish nursing interventions for children following palliative or corrective surgery for tetralogy of Fallot. Materials and methods: Using the methodology proposed by Fawcett et al. and the Joanna Briggs Institute, we searched 10 databases and search engines for articles published from 2014 to 2019 using 2 formulas: Pediatric AND Tetralogy of Fallot AND Post-operative and Pediatric AND Tetralogy of Fallot AND Postoperative AND Psychosocial Adaptation. Results: 1.901 studies were obtained, of which 56 met all eligibility criteria. The results were structured according to the nursing care plan and were framed within the modes of adaptation and needs of Callista Roy’s adaptation model. With the information obtained, 12 NANDA diagnoses corresponding to the physiological mode of adaptation and 11 to the psychosocial mode were constructed. Conclusion: There is relevant information to establish care interventions within the nursing scope of practice in this pediatric intensive care unit context, as interventions were obtained to address all the needs proposed by the epistemological model.
