Filament winding is a widely used method for producing tubes and pressure vessels from composite materials. However, overlapping of fibers during the winding process can lead to rough surface and increased voids in the finished product. To improve the quality of CFRP materials produced through filament winding, the structure is cured either at room temperature or in an oven with a controlled heat profile, depending on the type of resin used. Various finishing techniques, including shrink tape, compression molding, and vacuum compression molding, have been attempted to improve the quality of the specimen. Among these techniques, vacuum compression molding has been found to deliver the best results in terms of surface roughness, with average roughness (Ra) values of 0.35 μm in the fiber direction and 0.61 μm in the transverse direction. This level of roughness is comparable to that achieved through milling machine manufacturing. Moreover, this technique ensures uniformity in fiber composition and volume fraction, achieving a homogeneous density of 1364.49 kg/m³ and the highest fiber volume fraction of 63 %. As a result, remarkable mechanical attributes, such as a tensile strength of 926.07 MPa and a stiffness of 21.35 GPa, can be obtained. In addition, by utilizing various finishing techniques, the tensile strength of these properties can be increased by up to 80 %. CFRP is a versatile material with unique characteristics, and selecting appropriate finishing techniques such as vacuum compression molding can significantly enhance its overall quality and mechanical properties. Melica uniflora Retz., commonly known as wood melick, is a grass species that is native to most of Europe. Melica uniflora grows in hardwood forests near Fagus species, providing vital food and shelter for forest wildlife. The nutritional status of wood melick is not sufficiently recognized. The study aims to identify the intrapopulation variability of Melica uniflora plants collected from natural forest habitats in Poland in terms of nutritional status variability in relation to stage development and the course of weather conditions. The research was conducted for two consecutive years: 2021 and 2022, in the area of the Ślęża Massif, near the town of Sobótka in Lower Silesia voivodeship (Poland). The material for analyses was collected from 10 natural forest sites twice: in July (I) and October (II). The content of nutritive components: crude protein (CP), crude ash (CA), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), acid detergent lignin (ADL), and water-soluble carbohydrates (WSC) was evaluated. Relative feed value (RFV), dry matter digestibility (DDM), dry matter intake (DMI), cellulose (CL), and hemicellulose (HCL) content were calculated based on ADF and NDF. Melica uniflora plants contained 75.2 g·kg−1 DM of CP, 290.6 g·kg−1 DM of CF, 120.0 g·kg−1 DM of CA, and 25.9 g·kg−1 DM of WSC. The content of NDF was 637.6 g·kg−1 DM, ADF 407.5 g·kg−1 DM, and ADL 58.0 g·kg−1 DM. The nutritional status of wood melick depended on the course of weather conditions in the following years and its location, which changed during the growing season. Plants collected in the first year of the study contained more CL, NDF, and ADF fractions and less CA, ADL, and WSC. Melica uniflora plants harvested in June were characterized by higher CP (102.1 g·kg−1 DM) and WSC (30.1 g·kg−1 DM) content and lower content of remaining nutrients. Crop–livestock integration systems are efficient technologies for diversifying production and promoting agricultural sustainability. However, less is known about the triple intercropping of crops for silage production. The objective of this study was to evaluate the dry mass production, fermentation profile, and nutritive value of sorghum silage intercropped with Tamani guinea grass and Stylosanthes cv. Bela in integrated systems. We used an experimental design with randomized blocks with four replicates. The treatments consisted of silage of (1) sorghum in monocropped; (2) Tamani guinea grass in monocropped (Panicum maximum cv. BRS Tamani); (3) Stylosanthes cv. Bela in monocropped (Stylosanthes guianensis cv. BRS Bela); (4) sorghum intercropped with Tamani guinea grass; (5) sorghum intercropped with Stylosanthes cv. Bela; (6) Stylosanthes cv. Bela intercropped with Tamani guinea grass; and (7) sorghum intercropped with Tamani guinea grass and Stylosanthes cv. Bela, totaling 28 experimental silos. Our results demonstrated that intercropping sorghum with tropical forages can be utilized in integrated silage production systems. This practice led to an increase in silage mass production per unit area while also providing pasture forage after the crop harvest for silage production, ultimately enhancing land-use efficiency in a sustainable manner. Silage produced from sorghum intercropped with Tamani guinea grass and Stylosanthes cv. Bela exhibited improved fermentative characteristics, as well as higher ether extract and total digestible nutrient contents compared with silage from monocropped forages. Tropical forages contributed to an increase in the crude protein content of monocropped sorghum silage, which could potentially reduce costs associated with acquiring protein salts for ruminant feed supplementation. Consequently, we recommend the triple intercropping of sorghum, Tamani guinea grass, and Bela for silage production, as it offers advantages for the cultivation of annual and tropical forage crops.

ABSTRACT. Pelepah sawit dapat diolah dengan penambahan filtrat abu sekam padi (FASP) dan filtrat abu tandan kosong (FATK) selanjutnya digunakan sebagai bahan pembuatan wafer. Perbedaan sumber filtrat dan bahan perekat dalam pembuatan wafer memengaruhi fraksi serat dan kualitas fisik. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh sumber filtrat dalam pengolahan pelepah sawit dan bahan perekat berbeda dalam pembuatan wafer terhadap fraksi serat dan kualitas fisik. Rancangan acak lengkap berfaktor 2 x 3 dengan 3 ulangan digunakan dalam penelitian. Faktor F : sumber filtrat : F1= FATK dan F2 = FASP. Faktor L: bahan perekat, L1 = molases; L2. onggok; L3. tepung tapioka. Parameter yang diukur adalah kualitas fisik (kerapatan partikel dan daya serap air) serta fraksi serat (serat detergen asam/acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemiselulosa, selulosa, lignin dan serat detergen netral/neutral detergent fiber (NDF). Data dianalisis dengan analisis variansi selanjutnya analisis ragam dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan/Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Pelepah sawit yang diolah dengan sumber filtrat berbeda tidak memengaruhi kualitas fisik (daya serap air dan kerapatan partikel) serta kandungan selulosa dan hemiselulosa, tapi memengaruhi (P0,05) kandungan ADF, lignin dan NDF. Penggunaan bahan perekat berbeda dalam pembuatan wafer tidak memengaruhi kerapatan partikel tapi memengaruhi (P0,05) daya serap air dan fraksi serat (ADF, lignin, hemiselulosa, NDF, dan selulosa). Interaksi sumber filtrat dalam pengolahan pelepah sawit dengan bahan perekat dalam pembuatan wafer memengaruhi (P0,05) fraksi serat dan kualitas fisik. Palm fronds can be processed with the addition of rice husk ash filtrate (RHAF) and empty bunches ash filtrate (EBHF) and then used as an ingredient in making wafers. Difference source of the filtrate and adhesive material in wafer making affect the fiber fraction and physical quality. The study aimed to determine the effect of the filtrate source in the processing of palm fronds and different adhesives in wafer making on the fiber fraction and physical quality. A completely randomized design with a factorial pattern, 2 x 3 with 3 replications was used in the study. Factor F : filtrate source : F1 = RHAF and F2 = EBHF. Factor L : adhesive material, L1 = molasses; L2 = tapioca by product ; L3 = tapioca flour. The measured parameters are physical quality (particle density and water absorption) and fiber fraction (ADF, hemicellulose, lignin, cellulose, and NDF). Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and the differences were analyzed by DMRT test. Palm fronds treated with different filtrate sources did not affect the physical quality (water absorption and particle density) and cellulose and hemicellulose content, but affected (P0.05) the content of ADF, lignin and NDF. The use of different adhesives in wafer making did not affect particle density but affected (P0.05) water absorption and fiber fraction (ADF, lignin, hemicellulose, NDF, and cellulose). The interaction of the filtrate source in the processing of palm fronds with the adhesive in wafer making affected (P0.05) the fiber fraction and physical quality. Palm fronds which were processed with RHAF then formed wafers with molasses as an adhesive, producing the best fiber fraction (NDF 43.03%; ADF 40.29%; lignin 12.62%; cellulose 24.63%; hemicellulose 2.74%) and palm fronds which were processed with EBAF then formed wafers with tapioca flour adhesive, resulting in the best physical quality.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of alkaline soaking time on the crude fiber and protein fractions of pineapple peel. The research consisted of two stages, the first stage was immersion of pineapple peel with husk ash water filtration concentration (FAAS) and different soaking times, and the second stage was about giving basic pineapple peel flour (TNKB) with different percentages in the ration. The first stage used a factorial completely randomized design consisting of FAAS concentration factors of 20%, 30%, and 40%, and immersion time factors of 0, 24, 48, and 72 hours. The second stage used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% TNKB treatments in the ration. . The best reduction in fiber and crude protein fractions from alkaline soaking preparations will be given to broiler chicken feed rations. The result of immersion of 30% concentration with soaking time for 72 hours showed the best decrease for the fiber fraction. So that this processed pineapple skin flour can be given to broiler chicken feed rations. The results of the study concluded that the use of alkaline acidification of pineapple peel in rations could be used up to a level of 15% without affecting the performance of broiler chickens.

Use of composite materials for structural application has greatly flourished in last three decades. Mechanical properties of carbon composite are largely dependent on the processing parameters like processing temperature, compaction pressure, resin flow and fiber orientation. Processing temperature has an important and decisive role in defining the properties of the composites and absence of proper temperature can cause reduced mechanical properties and defects like wrinkles and voids. This study focuses on varying the initial processing temperature for carbon laminates and documents the effect on mechanical properties of the composite produced. The testing range of temperature was specified by the choice of resin. It was found that the mechanical properties like tensile, bending and shear strength increased non-linearly with increasing initial temperature of processing. Increase of fiber volume fraction, fiber weight fraction and density were observed which along with better resin distribution, resin flow and increased laminate compaction can be attributed as key reasons of increased mechanical properties. Tamarind seeds have a high energy content but have limited use for pigs because the seed coat is tough and contains anti-nutrient tannins. Therefore, liquid feed fermentation technology is carried out. The aim of this research was to assess the gross energy, digestible energy, and metabolic energy content of liquid feed fermentation (Lff) with different fermentation times in growing pigs. The research materials were whole tamarind seeds, bran, corn, meat and bone meal, and soybean meal. The study used a completely randomized design and consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment = Lf0: Lff time 0 days; Lf1: Lff for 7 days, Lf2: Lff for 14 days, Lf3: Lff for 21days, Lf4: Lff for 28 days fermentation. The research variables were the energy content of the ration and the prediction of digestible energy and metabolic energy value. This experiment aimed to know nutrition quality and fiber fraction of complete feed silage based on sago by-products, Imperata cylindrica, and Leuchaena leucocephala in different compositions which fermented for three weeks. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Feed Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Pattimura which lasted for three months. The main ingredients used to make silage complete ration in this study consisted of sago pulp, reeds, lamtoro, concentrate and plus coconut water. Complete ration silage fermented using coconut water plus which is a mixture of urea 95% and coconut water 5%. This research conducted by using randomized complete design with five factors of silage compound that are P0 = 60% forages + 40% concentrate (for control) ; P1 = 10% sago by-products + 40% Imperata cylindrical + 10% Leucaena Leucocephala + 40% concentrate ; P2 = 20% sago by-products + 30% Imperata cylindrica + 20 % Leucaena Leucocephala + 30% concentrate ; P3 = 30 % sago by-products + 20% Imperata cylindrica + 30 % Leucaena Leucocephala + 20% consentrate ; dan P4 = 40% sago by-products + 10% Imperata cylindrica + 40% Leucaena Leucocephala + 10% concentrate. Each treatment used four replicates. The variable observed were the percentage of water content, ash, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, NDF, ADF, and lignin. The results showed that sago by-products, Imperata cylindrica and Leuchaena leucocephala can be used for basic materials of complete feed silage in ruminants feed because they have no difference quality of nutrition and fiber fraction compared with control P0.

The study was designed to evaluate the effect of barley grain etiolated sprouts mixture with faba bean, Egyptian clover, wheat and rice hays to improve fodder value. Hays were used as media to etiolated sprouts of barley with three seeding densities (10, 20 and 30% w: w). Growing conditions of the system can produce between 12.8 to 38.38Kg of fresh fodder and 3.18 to 9.10Kg of dry fodder in 4 days from one kilogram of dry barley grains. The dry fodder per unit seed volume (Kg/Kg grain) was decreased with increasing seed density. Since hays were decreased but the nutrient content of the fodder, especially protein was increased. Barley etiolated sprouts improved quality of hays fodder from faba bean, Egyptian clover, rice and wheat crop. Carbohydrate lipid, protein and total energy content were increased with increasing barley-seeding density while crude fiber was decreased. In vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was decreased with decreasing seed density especially with rice hays (39.92) and increased with increasing seeding density especially with faba bean hays (74.77). Fiber fraction (Neutral detergent fiber NDF, Acid detergent fiber ADF, Acid detergent lignin ADL), cellulose and lignin percentage were decreased with increasing seeding density of barley, Relative feed value (RFV) was increased with increasing seed density for barley grown on faba bean, Egyptian clover, rice and wheat hays. The barley etiolated sprout production system obtained a good quality fresh forage in small area all year around and low cost estimated per ton DM; total digestible nutrients (TDN) and crude protein (CP) compared with hydroponic barely green sprouts. Therefore, the system can recommended as cheap energy (TDN) and protein (CP). In addition, the system saving agricultural lands and partially water consumption for strategy crop production as wheat and corn since its fodder products can produced and grown in small dark area during absence of natural forage.

Having a high stature subjects palms to the same constraints as trees, but the lack of cambial growth urges them to adopt a different strategy. We aimed to characterize the spatial organization of xylem tissues and their potential functions in two palm stems: a 30 cm diameter at breast height (DBH) royal palm (Roystonea regia) and a 12 cm DBH Alexandra king palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae). Macroscopic and microscopic anatomical characteristics were assessed at five vertical locations and 5–6 radial locations at each height. Over 9600 vessels across the two stems were drawn manually and measured based on histological sections. Vertically, a hydraulic bottleneck was identified at the first meter, and both stems showed conduit tapering from 4 m to the top. Radially, most water transport and mechanical support were achieved within 2–5 cm below the bark. The larger stem diameter of royal palm may have improved its water transport, storage, and potential for mechanical support compared to king palm. There was a strong trade-off between ground parenchyma and the fiber fraction. However, the correlation between theoretical hydraulic conductivity (K t) and the ground parenchyma fraction, and between K t and the fiber fraction, shifted from positive or non-significant below the bark, to strongly negative close to the center. These changes reflect the functional sectoriality of the palm stems, which may reduce the constraint of trade-offs between water transport, storage, and mechanical support. This study evaluated the potential yeast and fungi to enhance quality of fermentation coffee pulp as a fiber source in diet of livestock. There were different yeast and fungi has been used on fermentation coffee pulp such as Aspergillus niger, Trichoderma viride, Rhizopusoryzae, Pleoratusostreatus, and Saccaromyces cerevisiae. It is known from several existing data that the treatment of the fermentation will influence the quality of fermentation. Different doses, single or multi culture of fungi and duration of fermentations affected the quality of coffee pulp fermentation. Type of coffee such as Arabica and Robusta coffee also affected fiber fraction of fermentation coffee pulp. The results showed that there were variations on fiber fraction such as lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose and tannin with different treatment of yeast or fungi fermentation. However, the variance of those fiber fraction seems similar after fermentation processes. Lignin and tannin were decreased by the fermentation. Meanwhile, hemicellulose and cellulose were increased after fermentation. Other benefits of fungi or yeast fermentation of coffee pulp increased protein content and reduced caffeine levels. Moreover, the supplementation of fermentation of coffee pulp did not give any negative effect on rumen pH, volatile fatty acid, NH3, and digestibility. The research was aimed at assessing the effect of complementary use of slurry with soil conditioners and the NPK fertilizers on the content of the crude fibre fractions in the biomass of Lolium multiflorum. The studies were conducted on the basis of a two-year (2016-2017) field experiment established in three replications in a completely randomized design. The impact of slurry and its interaction with soil conditioners and the NPK fertilizers was tested on the Dukat variety of Lolium multiflorum forage grass. The results demonstrated that there was no significant effect of the treatments on the content of the crude fibre and its fraction in the grass. However, the ADF and ADL fibre content varied significantly across the growing seasons. In the same growing season, the crude fibre content as well as the content of the ADL fraction varied across three Lolium multiflorum harvests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The problem of sugarcane top anti-tangling in the silage industry is based on mechanical properties, but there have been no studies on variables and models that can be used to predict them. The aim of this study was to examine how the physical properties, microstructure, and chemical composition of sugarcane top stems, leaves, and veins impact their mechanical properties and evaluate their role in entanglement within the silage industry. This study was carried out by using Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) to analyze the relationship and the influence level between the influencing factors (number of segments, diameter (width), segment distance, density, water content, hemicellulose content, cellulose content, and lignin content) and the mechanical property (tensile strength) of sugarcane tops. The results showed that the determination coefficients of tensile strength on stems, leaves, and veins were 0.9498, 0.9503, and 0.9457 by regression fitting, respectively. The RPD of the prediction model was greater than 3 and the RSEP was all less than 5%, which indicated that the model had a high prediction accuracy. It showed that the influencing factors and the mathematical model can be used to build the mechanical model of sugarcane tops, which was the basis for obtaining the data needed to study the anti-tangling of mechanical equipment. • Anti-tangling problems in the sugarcane top silage industry were analyzed. • Sugarcane tops were studied in a multi-scale and multi-faceted manner. • The factors rank influence the tensile properties of sugarcane tops were obtained. • The determination coefficients were 0.9498, 0.9503, and 0.9457, respectively. • The RPD of the prediction model was greater than 3 and the RSEP was less than 5%. • An experimental database for bond behavior of rebar in SFRC is collated. • The effect of test methods, c / d , l / d and fiber factor on bond strength is analyzed based on extensive data. • The applicability of existed bond strength models is evaluated. • A modified bond strength model is proposed with consideration of all the parameters. The addition of steel fiber is an effective method to improve the bond behavior between reinforcement and concrete. However, a unified bond strength model for bond strength of reinforcement in steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) is not available yet. In this paper, the effect of the related factors on the bond strength is first analyzed and then a modified bond strength is proposed, based on 449 test data collected from 18 bond experimental studies. The influencing factors considered include bond test methods, cover to rebar-diameter ratio (c / d), bond length to rebar diameter ratio (l / d), fiber fraction (V f), fiber slenderness (l f / d f) and rebar diameter (d). The results indicate that bond strength is greatly affected by c / d and l / d , while the effect of steel fiber is correlated with the composite fiber factor (V f ·l f / d f) and fiber distribution uniformity. In addition, the applicability of five SFRC bond strength models proposed previously is evaluated based on statistical characteristics. Current bond strength models have limited applicability and some models inappropriately neglect the effect of bond length. Abstract Rotary disk centrifugal granulation is one of the most promising methods for molten slag recovery with lower power consumption, compact and coupling with a variety of waste heat devices easily. In this paper, high temperature analogue experiments were performed by four types of disks with molten aluminum as the working fluid. The particles characteristics which include particles size distribution, particles mean size and fiber mass fraction were studied. The results show that the majority of the particles size is populated in the range of 2.0 mm∼4.0 mm for all the ω and Q. Both theoretic and experimental analyses indicate that the ω has more impact on particles size than Q. The particles produced by curved-block disk and arc-edge disk configurations are more concentrated than the other two types of disks. Besides, the mean size of particles generated by curved-block disk is smaller. A simple correlation of d m for four types of disks is proposed, which agrees well with the experimental data (R2 = 0.9172). Meanwhile, when the Q is relative low, a lower ω can contribute to the reduction of produced fiber. The main conclusions drawn from this work will be helpful for future development of the high-temperature molten slag dry granulation systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The shortage of quality feed is a major constraint affecting livestock production in eastern parts of Ethiopia. However, the development of grass-legume mixed pasture is an alternative strategy to improve feed resources availability both in quantity and quality since forage quality and seasonal distribution of dry matter (DM) production of grass-legume mixed sward is higher compared to those grasses or forage legumes grown in pure-stands. Therefore, we studied the DM yield, competition function and chemical composition of grass-legume mixtures in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications during 2008 and 2009 cropping seasons. Chloris gayana, Panicum coloratum, Melilotus alba and Medicago sativa were planted as pure-stand and in mixtures using 50:50, 67:33, 33:67, 75:25 and 25:75 seed rate proportions of grasses and legumes, respectively. C. gayana mixed with M. alba at seed rate of 50:50 and 33:67 had a higher DM yield [27 and 26 t ha[sup -1], respectively] than other mixtures and pure-stands. The relative total yields of all grass/legume mixtures were greater than unity, indicating that the DM yields of the mixtures were higher than those of the pure-stands. Pure-stand legumes and their mixtures with grasses had a higher crude protein contentsthan pure-stand grasses, whereas pure-stand grasses had a higher fiber fraction contents compared to pure-stand legumes and their mixture with grasses. To alleviate the feed shortage, C. gayana mixed with M. alba at seed rates of 50:50 and 33:67 can be introduced under smallholder livestock production conditions in eastern parts of Ethiopia. This study was carried out to evaluate concentration of micro minerals (Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu and Se) of forages and their distribution in fiber fraction (neutral detergent fiber/NDF and acid detergent fiber/ADF) in West Sumatra during dry and rainy seasons. Four species of common legume namely Leucaena leucocephala, Centrocema pubescens, Calopogonium mucunoides and Acacia mangium were collected at native pasture during rainy and dry seasons. The results showed that micro minerals concentration of forages and their distribution in fiber fraction varied among species and season. In general, concentration of micro minerals was slightly higher in rainy season compared to dry season either in legumes forages. Data on legume forages showed that 75% of legumes were deficient in Zn and Mn, 62.5 % deficient in Cu and 50 % deficient in Se. There was no species of legume deficient in Fe. Distribution of micro minerals in NDF and ADF were also significantly affected by species and season and depends on the kinds of element measured. Generally, micro minerals were associated in fiber fractions and it yield much higher during dry season compared to rainy season. Iron (Fe) and selenium (Se) in forages were the highest elements associated in NDF and ADF, while the lowest was found in Copper (Cu). To assess solid-liquid separation as a technology to reduce ammonia (NH 3) emission from storage and field application of animal slurry, it is necessary to consider a possible higher NH 3 loss from the solid fraction after application than from raw slurry, as well as losses during storage. A literature review was conducted, and a case study was developed for Denmark, including cattle slurry, pig slurry, and biogas digestate applied by trailing hose, trailing shoe, or open slot injection at five different periods of the year. Standard storage emission factors were used and emission factors after field application were estimated using the ALFAM2 model with input data for dry matter (DM), pH, total ammoniacal nitrogen (TAN), and separation efficiency all from the literature compilation. In general, a clear reduction in the emission factors after application of the liquid fraction was found relative to application of raw slurry in the literature data. Case study results provide some evidence that separation of cattle slurry or digestate, followed by storage and subsequent application by trailing hose or trailing shoe of the liquid fraction and broadcast application of the solid fraction reduces overall NH 3 loss, with a higher reduction when the solid fraction is incorporated by plowing after 4 h. This effect was not present for pig slurry. For all slurry types when the raw slurry and liquid fraction is applied by open slot injection, the overall reduction in emission due to separation is not present or even negative. • NH 3 emission following application of liquid fraction is lower than raw slurry. • NH 3 loss from solid fraction can counteract lower NH 3 emission from liquid fraction. • Lower overall NH 3 emission can be obtained with separation of cattle slurry and digestate. • No evidence that NH 3 emissions are reduced with separation of pig slurry. • Application with open slot injection eliminates effect of separation on NH 3. The dynamics of the physical properties and the fiber fractioning of the meal of integral forage of Lablab purpureus, innoculated with M5-2 and 137 MCX-1 strains of the lignocellulitic fugus Trichoderma viride, was studied. The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional quality of the fibrous fraction of the meals submitted to a solid state fermentation (SSF). Fifty grams of the substratum were used to determine the indicators of fiber fractioning (neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose), as well as the physical properties: volume, solubility, and water adsorption ability (WAC) at 0, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h after the inoculation. A split plot was carried out in order to study the measuring. There was a significant interaction treatment x time of sampling (P < 0.001) for NDF, ADF, cellulose, hemicellulose, solubility and volume. There was a decrease of the NDF (P < 0.001) from the integral meal inoculated at 24 and 48 h with the 137MCX-1 and M5-2 strains, respectively. The highest decrease of NDF (8.3 percentage units), inoculated with the M5-2 strain, was obtained at 72h. This coincided with the highest increase (P < 0.001) of cellulose and the decrease of hemicellulose, from 23.37 to 19.15 %. There was low content of lignin (P < 0.001), regardless of the strains, at 72 h. The results indicated an increase of the nutritional quality of the fibrous fraction for the meal of dolicho integral forage, inoculated with both strains. The grazing of Pampangan buffaloes at non tidal (lebak) swamp in South Sumtra of Indonesia is one of effort to enhance farmer income in South Sumatra. This research is aimed to investigate the characteristics of Lebak swamp used as a grazing land of Pampangan Buffaloes included soil physical and chemical properties, water quality, land use in Lebak swamp, and high of flooding; to find out botanical compotition and vegetation consumed by Buffaloes, nutrition value of forage and productivity of Pampangan Buffaloes. It was concluded that water quality and soil fertility found are low level with highest flooding occurred in March 2012, and lowest flooding taken placed in June and July; existence of rice and vegetables cultivation are showns in low flooding season, as well as for palm oil plantation encourages emergence the interest conflict between buffalo farming and crop cultivate activities; amounting to 23 species of vegetation are identified, 14 specieses are consumed by Buffaloes with the chemical composition varies among species; high content of fiber fraction, low crude protein content will be resulting low productivity of Pampangan Buffaloes. Abstract: The effectiveness of several pretreatments [high-power ultrasound, sulfuric acid (H2SO4), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and ammonium hydroxide (NH3OH)] to enhance glucose production from insoluble fractions recovered from enzyme-assisted aqueous extraction processing of extruded full-fat soybean flakes (FFSF) was investigated. Sonication of the insoluble fraction at 144μmpp (peak-to-peak) for 30 and 60s did not improve the saccharification yield. The solid fractions recovered after pretreatment with H2SO4 [1% (w/w), 90°C, 1.5h], NaOH [15% (w/w), 65°C, 17h], and NH3OH [15% (w/w), 65°C, 17h] showed significant lignin degradation, i.e., 81.9%, 71.2%, and 75.4%, respectively, when compared to the control (7.4%). NH3OH pretreatment resulted in the highest saccharification yield (63%) after 48h of enzymatic saccharification. A treatment combining the extraction and saccharification steps and applied directly to the extruded FFSF, where oil extraction yield and saccharification yield reached 98% and 43%, respectively, was identified. The molecular properties of hemicelluloses located in the surface and inner layers of fibers present in hardwood and softwood pulps, together with the effects of different bleaching processes on these properties, have been investigated in this study. In order to separate the hemicelluloses located in these two layers, fibers were subjected to mechanical peeling and then separated by filtration into surface (filtrate) and inner layer materials. The materials thus obtained were characterized with respect to their polysaccharide compositions and uronic acid contents. The molar mass parameters of the hemicelluloses (extracted by alkali) were determined by employing size-exclusion chromatography in combination with off-line MALDI mass spectrometry. For all of the pulps examined, the relative content of xylan was found to be greater in the surface layer of the fiber than in the corresponding inner layer. The xylan polymers of the surface layer exhibited higher molar masses and lower frequencies of uronic acid side groups than did the xylans in the inner fiber layer. In connection with ozone treatment, hexenuronic acid residues in the surface layer xylan were removed to a greater extent than in the case of the inner layers, indicating a gradient for the reaction with ozone across the fiber wall. The xylan polymer remaining on the surface of the softwood pulps after completion of the chlorine dioxide bleaching process was predominantly uncharged. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
