Clocks are widely used in multimedia and electronic devices, and they usually have different frequency demands. This paper presents the design of a multi-output clock generator using an analog integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) and open-loop fractional dividers. The PLL based on a three-stage ring voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is used to transform the lower frequency reference into a high-frequency intermediate clock (600 MHz–900 MHz). Then, relying on the open-loop fractional divider, a wide frequency range of 500 kHz to 150 MHz can be generated. Due to the open-loop control characteristic, the clock generator has instantaneous frequency switching capability. In addition, phase-adjusting circuits added to the divider greatly improved the jitter performance of the output clock; its RMS jitter is 5.2 ps. This work was conducted with 0.13 μm CMOS technology. The open-loop divider occupies an area of 0.032 mm2 and consumes 7.7 mW from a 1.2 V supply.

Gozupek, Didem/0000-0001-8450-1897 WOS: 000522523000007 The problem of inefficient and unevenly distributed spectrum usage in industrial wireless networks has led to the emergence of the concept of industrial cognitive radio (CR) networks, which have particularly important applications in automotive industry. Industrial CR networks are planned to function in a wide spectrum range; therefore, they have high energy consumption because of frequency switching while other wireless technologies do not have this problem. A distinctive feature of this switching cost is that it depends on the wideness between the two frequency bands. In this article, we formulate the joint frequency assignment and scheduling problem for multihop industrial CR networks with a single transceiver by considering varying amounts of energy consumption that occurs while CR devices switch to different frequency bands. Our optimization problem, which we formulate as an integer linear program, minimizes the energy cost related to frequency switching while making frequency and time slot allocation to the cognitive devices. We prove that even on star graphs, our formulated problem is inapproximable within any polynomial-time computable function $f(n)$ in addition to being $\textsc {NP}\text {-Hard}$ in the strong sense. Therefore, we propose a polynomial-time heuristic algorithm to solve the energy consumption problem due to channel switching. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of our heuristic algorithm is very close to the results obtained from the integer linear programming implementation by CPLEX optimization software. We also compare our proposed method with the corresponding constant energy consumption for frequency switching case and two state-of-the-art algorithms and demonstrate that taking into account the different energy consumption while switching to different frequency bands is vital for joint frequency assignment and scheduling in multihop industrial CR networks with a single transceiver. Algılayıcılar yardımıyla toplanan verinin işlenmesi ve ardından ortak bir kanal olan internet üzerinden paylaşılması prensibi IoT ağ paradigmasının temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bilişsel Radyo Ağları (CRN), günümüz ağ yapılarındaki spektrum yetersizliği probleminin çözümüne odaklanan bir ağ yapısıdır. Mevcut spektrum atanma ve kullanım şekline bakıldığında, ücret karşılığı kanal kullanım hakkına sahip lisanslı kullanıcıların, bu spektrum kanallarını verimsiz kullandığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Artan cihaz sayısı ve buna bağlı olarak yine artan kullanıcı sayısı, atıl spektrum bandı gibi problemler CRN kavramını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Lisanssız kullanıcıların, birincil kullanıcılar ağda aktif olmadığında iletişim yapması ilkesi ile atıl spektrum bantlarının verimli ve aktif bir şekilde kullanımı amaçlanmaktadır. Tez kapsamında, CRN tabanlı IoT ağlarda çalışan yönlendirme algoritması tasarlanmıştır. Tasarlanan bu model, yönlendirme yolu seçiminde frekans geçişini dikkate almakta, farklı frekans bantları kullanarak iletişimi desteklemektedir. Önerilen ve geliştirilen modellerin kapasite, enerji verimliliği ve enerji tüketimi açısından en iyi yolu seçmesi ve bu yönüyle yönlendirmede belirleyici olması amaçlanmaktadır. Tasarlanan bu modeller ile Dar Boğaz Tabanlı Yönlendirme (DTY) ve RPL algoritmaları Python programlama dili kullanılarak yapılan benzetimler sonucu karşılaştırılmış, sonuçlar ve bulgular değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan benzetimler sonucu, önerilen algoritmaların performans açısından DTY ve RPL algoritmasına göre daha başarılı sonuçlar verdiği görülmüştür. The Internet of Things (IoT) concept has started to be mentioned a lot due to the increase in the number of devices connected to the Internet. The principle of processing the data collected with the help of sensors and then sharing it over the internet, which is a common channel, forms the basis of IoT network paradigm. Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) is a network structure that focuses on solving the spectrum deficiency problem in today's network structures. Considering the current spectrum assignment and usage samples, it has been revealed that licensed users with channel usage rights for a fee use these spectrum channels inefficiently. Problems such as the increasing number of devices and the increasing number of users, and the idle spectrum band have revealed the CRN concept. It is aimed to use idle spectrum bands efficiently and actively with the principle that unlicensed users communicate when the primary users are not active on the network. Within the scope of the thesis, a routing algorithm working on CRN-based IoT networks is designed. CR nodes perceive available frequency bands, switch to these frequencies and communicate on the band in their allocated time slot. The frequency switching cost is directly depends on the optimal frequency switching. Current routing protocols in IoT networks do not consider frequency switching in routing. The routing path is created regardless of the frequency switching cost. Routing Protocol for Low Power and Loss Networks (RPL) is also a standard routing protocol that works in IoT networks. With the characteristic features of CR devices, the existing RPL algorithm is developed and the routing objective function is created for the frequency switching aware RPL (RPL-Sw). In addition, the CR-based GreedyRPL (CR-GreedyRPL) algorithm is designed. This designed model considers the frequency switching in the routing path selection and supports communication by using different frequency bands. The proposed and developed models are aimed to choose the best way in terms of capacity, energy efficiency and energy consumption and to be decisive in this aspect. These designed models are compared with the results of the simulations made using Widest Path Routing (DTY) and RPL algorithms using Python programming language, and the results and findings are evaluated. As a result of the simulations, it has been seen that the proposed algorithms give more successful results than DTY and RPL algorithms in terms of performance.

Суть метода состоит в использовании множества временных интервалов при измерении разности фаз сигналов на разных частотах излучения и, соответственно, множества значений доплеровских частот в спектре сигнала при определении среднего значения доплеровской частоты, а также применения прямой и обратной последовательностей ПЧ. Данный метод позволяет усреднить результаты вычисления отдельных реализаций и, тем самым, повысить точность определения скорости цели и расстояния до нее. При этом также повышается устойчивость РЛД с ПЧ к воздействию сигналов от сторонних источников радиоизлучения и помех от подстилающей поверхности. Результаты экспериментальных исследований метода получены на примере автодинного РЛД с ПЧ 8-мм диапазона, выполненного на основе генератора на диоде Ганна с управлением частоты варикапом. Метод может найти применение в бортовых (например, автомобильных) радиолокационных датчиках, предназначенных для обнаружения движущихся целей, измерения расстояния до них, а также определения скорости и направления движения. The description of a new method of signal generation and processing which provides an increase in the noise immunity of radar sensors (RS) with frequency switching (FS) radiation is presented. The principle of method is in the use of a set of time intervals when measuring the phase difference of signals at different radiation frequencies and, accordingly, a set of the Doppler frequency values in the signal spectrum when determining the average value of the Doppler frequency, as well as the use of forward and reverse IF sequences. This method allows averaging the results of calculating individual implementations and, thereby, increase the accuracy of determining the target speed and distance to it. At the same time, the stability of the RS with FS also increases to the effects of signals from third-party radio sources and interference from the underlying surface. The results of experimental studies of the method are obtained on the example of the autodyne RS with the 8-mm frequency range, made on the basis of the Gann diode generator with frequency control by varicap. The method may be used in on-board (for example, automotive) radar sensors designed to detect moving targets, measure the distance to them, as well as determine the speed and direction of movement.

Herein, we propose an impedance spectroscopy method using a mode-switching nonsinusoidal oscillator and apply this method for measuring the impedance of biological tissues and continuous impedance measurement. To obtain impedance spectra over a wide frequency range, we fabricated a novel nonsinusoidal oscillator incorporating binary counters and analog switches. This oscillator could periodically switch oscillation frequency through the mode switching of the feedback resistor. From the oscillation waveform at each oscillation frequency of this circuit (oscillator), we determined the impedance spectrum of a measured object using the discrete-time Fourier transform. Subsequently, we obtained the broad impedance spectrum of the measured object by merging odd-order harmonic spectral components up to the 19th order for each oscillation frequency. From the measured spectrum, the resistive and capacitive components of the circuit simulating bioimpedance were estimated with high accuracy. Moreover, the proposed method was used to measure the impedance of porcine myocardium, changes in the impedance spectrum of the myocardial tissue due to coagulation could be measured. Furthermore, rapid variations in the resistance value of a CdS photocell could be continuously measured using the proposed method.

Bilişsel radyo ağları, çalışmak için geniş frekans aralıklarına ihtiyaç duyarlar. Bu gereksinim diğer kablosuz ağlarda olmayan yeni zorlukları beraberinde getirir. Bilişsel radyo ağlarında bir frekanstan diğer frekansa geçişin maliyeti göz ardı edilemeyecek kadar büyük olup değişim, frekanslar arasındaki uzaklığa bağlıdır. Bu maliyet özellikle tek antenli bilişsel radyo ağı cihazları için önem taşımaktadır. Yeşil ağlar ile ilgili çalışmalar bilişsel radyo ağlarının enerji ihtiyacını düzenleyen metodlara ihtiyaç duyulduğunu göstermektedir. Bu tezde, bilişsel radyo ağlarında enerji optimizasyonu konusu ile ilgili iki farklı problem üzerinde yoğunlaştık.İlk bölümde frekans değişiminin etkisini enerji tüketimi açısından inceledik. Öncelikle frekans değişim maliyetini dikkate alan kaynak tahsisi (FSCARA) problemine odaklandık. Tasarsız bilişsel radyo ağlarında bilişsel cihazlar için frekans ve zaman dilimi atamasını frekans değişimlerinden ortaya çıkan enerji maliyetini en aza indirecek şekilde yapan bir optimizasyon problemi formüle ettik. Bu optimizasyon problemini tamsayı lineer programlama yöntemi ile tasarladık ve değişken frekans geçişi ile sabit frekans geçisi arasındaki enerji maliyetlerini karşılaştırmalı olarak inceledik. İkinci kısımda, benzer bir optimizasyon problemi olan ağaç yapılarında en az değişim maliyeti (MINCCA) problemi üzerine çalıştık. Kenarları renklendirilmiş bir çizgede değişim maliyeti, FSCARA problemindeki frekans değişimi maliyetine karşılık gelmektedir. MINCCA problemi en az toplam değişim maliyeti olan bir kapsayan ağacı bulmayı amaçlar. MINCCA probleminin çözümü için 2 adet sezgisel algoritma geliştirdik. Geliştirdiğimiz bu algoritmaları rastgele maliyet hesaplayan bir algoritma ile karşılaştırdık. Sonuçlar geliştirdiğimiz algoritmaların rastgelelikten daha iyi çalıştığını ve çizgede artan kenar ve renklere göre de tutarlı bir sonuç ortaya koyduğunu göstermektedir. Cognitive radio networks need to operate in a wide range of frequencies. This requirement brings up new challenges that do not exist in other wireless networks. Switching from a certain frequency to another frequency incurs a non-negligible cost in cognitive radio networks and depends on the wideness between the previous and current frequencies. This cost is especially important in ad hoc cognitive radio networks when the cognitive devices have a single transceiver. Frequency switching also leads to energy consumption. Research studies related to green networks indicate the need for methods that address energy consumption in cognitive radio networks; hence, the energy consumption due to frequency switching is of paramount importance. In this thesis, we focus on two problems regarding cognitive radio network energy optimization. First, we focus on frequency switching cost aware resource allocation (FSCARA) problem. We analyze the impact of the frequency switching cost in terms of energy consumption by formulating an optimization problem that makes frequency and time slot allocation to the cognitive devices in an ad hoc cognitive radio network so that the energy cost related to frequency switching cost is minimized. We formulate our optimization problem as an integer linear program and comparatively evaluate the energy cost of varying switching energy consumption with constant switching energy consumption.Second, we work on a related optimization problem called minimum changeover cost arborescence (MINCCA) problem. In an edge-colored graph, changeover cost corresponds to frequency switching cost in FSCARA problem. The objective of the MINCCA problem is to find a spanning tree which yields the minimum total changeover cost. We propose two heuristic algorithms for MINCCA problem. We compare the performance of our algorithms with the algorithm that calculates random changeover cost for varying parameters such as the number of colors, node and graph density. Simulation results demonstrate that our heuristic algorithms yield significantly better performance than random case. 40

Bu tez çalışmasında bilişsel radyo ağları üzerinde birden fazla kaynak ve hedef arasındaki yolları oluşturma, frekans atama, kanal zamanlama ve yönlendirme problemleri için yeni yaklaşımlar öne sürülmüş ve yeni algoritmalar geliştirilmiştir. Bu problemleri çözmek için tamsayılı doğrusal programlama ve sezgisel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Tezin ilk bölümünde birden fazla kaynak ve hedef arasında maksimal kliklerden kaçınılarak çoklu isteklere cevap verebilecek alternatif yolların tespiti için bir algoritma önerilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, tamsayılı doğrusal programlama ile modellenen bilişsel radyo ağları üzerindeki frekans atama ve kanal zamanlama problemi için, bilişsel radyo cihazlarının farklı frekanslara geçişinden kaynaklı harcanan enerji tüketimini dikkate alan sezgisel bir algoritma tasarlanmıştır. Integer linear programming and heuristic methods are used for solving these problems. In the first section of the thesis, a new algorithm is proposed to construct paths for multi-source multi-destination cognitive radio networks while avoiding maximal cliques. In the second section of the thesis, a heuristic algorithm is designed for frequency assignment and channel scheduling problem formulated as integer linear programming model in cognitive radio networks by taking into account the different energy consumption that occurs while cognitive radio devices switch to different frequency bands. In the third section of the thesis, a frequency switching aware throughput maximization routing algorithm is proposed. The energy consumption during the routing protocol is modeled, and a new objective function for the energy efficiency maximization problem is formulated. A novel algorithm is proposed for the energy efficiency maximization problem.

Kablosuz sistemler, son yıllarda giderek yaygınlaşmış ve günlük yaşantımızın bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Kablosuz sistemlerin en önemli unsurları anten yapılarıdır. Kablosuz sistemlerin gelişmesi ve mobil cihazların küçülmesi ile birlikte birden fazla uygulamayı birlikte çalıştırabilen sistemlere ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Bu gereksinimlerin karşılanması için geliştirilmiş olan ultra geniş bant (UGB) sistemler, düşük güç tüketimi ve yüksek veri hızı avantajlarına sahip yeni nesil kablosuz teknolojidir. UGB frekans spektrumunda çalışan ve UGB sistemlere girişim etkisi yapan Wi-MAX, WLAN ve C-bant uydu haberleşmesi gibi kablosuz standartlar bulunmaktadır. Bundan dolayı, bu standartların girişim etkilerini kaldırmak için, UGB anten tasarımlarında bu frekanslar için bant çentiği yapılması gerekmektedir. Mikroşerit antenler, küçük hacimli olma, hafiflik ve bant çentiği yapımının kolay olması gibi avantajları ile UGB sistemler için en uygun antenlerdir. Bu tezde, UGB sistemler için G şeklinde bir yamadan oluşan mikroşerit bir anten tasarlanarak prototipi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tasarlanmış anten sıklıkla kullanılan kablosuz standartlardan olan C-band uydu haberleşmesi standartının çalışma frekanslarında bant çentiği yamaktadır. Yapılan bu antenden önce, UGB anten çalışmalarına temel olması amacıyla 3 adet özgün UGB mikroşerit anten daha tasarlanmıştır. Tasarımlara ilk olarak, üçgen monopol bir yamadan oluşan anten yapısı ile başlanmıştır. Prototipi de üretilen anten, 2.6-18.2 GHz bandında çalışarak UGB bandını fazlasıyla kapsamıştır. İkinci anten tasarımında, birinci antende kullanılan yapıdan ilham alınarak üçgen bir yama kullanılmıştır. Bu antenin ilk antenden en temel farkı ise, dairesel polarizasyon (DP) ışıma da yapmasıdır. Tasarlanan ikinci anten, 3.8-11.0 GHz frekans aralığında çalışarak UGB'yi desteklemektedir. bir anten olmuştur. Üçüncü anten yapısında ise, ilk iki yapıda kullanılan mikroşerit hat beslemeden farklı olarak eşdüzlemsel dalga kılavuzu besleme kullanılmıştır. Yay şeklinde monopol bir ışıyıcı ve toprak yapısına sahip olan bu anten 3.1-17.2 GHz empedans bant genişliğine sahiptir. Son olarak bu tezin temel amacı olan, G şekilli bir yama ve dikdörtgen bir toprak düzleminden oluşan mikroşerit bir anten tasarlanmıştır. Tasarlanan anten, diğer üç antenden daha küçük boyutlu ve bant çentiği yapmak için ayarlamaya uygun yapıya sahiptir. Prototipi de üretilen antenin toplam boyutları 8.0×27.5 mm2'dir. G şeklindeki yamanın açıklık kısmına DC besleme ile anahtarlama yapan bir PIN diyot eklenerek antenin yeniden ayarlanabilmesi sağlanmıştır. Ölçüm sonuçlarına göre, PIN diyotun ON-State durumu olarak adlandırılan ileri yönlü beslemede diyot iletime geçerek 2.8-12.6 GHz frekans aralığında çalışan UGB bir anten elde edilmiştir. PIN diyotun OFF-State durumunda ise, çalışma bandının 3.5-4.95 GHz frekansları arasında ışıma yapmayarak bant çentikli bir anten özelliği sağlanmıştır. Tez çalışmasında yapılan bütün anten tasarımları Moment Metodu (MoM) temelli HyperLynx 3D EM benzetim programı kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tasarımlar sırasında, HyperLynx 3D EM programına entegre edilmiş optimizasyon modülünde genetik algoritma kullanılarak antenler optimize edilmiştir. Antenlerin performanslarının değerlendirilmesinde S11, VSWR, ışıma örüntüsü, maksimum kazanç, toplam verimlilik ve yüzey akım dağılımı parametreleri dikkate alınmıştır. Tasarlanan antenlerin prototipleri, FR4 malzeme üzerine LPKF Protomat PCB makinesi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Prototipleri üretilen antenlerin S11 ölçümleri, Keysight PNA 5224A Network Analizör ile yapılırken; ışıma örüntüsü ve maksimum kazanç ölçümleri de network analizör cihazına bağlanan döner tabla kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Elde edilen ölçüm sonuçları ile de benzetim sonuçları doğrulanmıştır. Wireless systems, have become increasingly common in recent years and are part of our daily lives. Antennas are the most important elements of wireless systems. With the development of wireless systems and the miniaturization of mobile devices, there is a need for systems that can work with multiple applications together. Ultra-wideband (UWB) systems, that developed to meet these requirements, are a new generation wireless technology with advantages such as low power consumption and high data rate. There are some wireless standards, such as Wi-MAX, WLAN and C-band satellite communications, which operate in the UWB frequency spectrum and interfere with UWB systems. Therefore, in order to remove interference effects of these standards, it is necessary to make a band-notches at these frequencies in UWB antenna designs. Microstrip antennas are the most suitable antennas for UWB systems with their advantages such as low profile, light weight and easy to make band-notches.In this thesis, a microstrip antenna with G-shaped patch was designed for UWB systems. Proposed antenna have a band-notched characteristic at C-band satellite communication standard frequencies, which is widely used wireless standard. Before this antenna design, 3 other UWB microstrip antennas were designed in order to learning how to work UWB antennas. We started to antenna designs with a triangular monopole structure. The prototyped antenna operates at 2.6-18.2 GHz frequency band, which covers the UWB frequencies. In the second antenna, a triangular patch was used, which was inspired by the first antenna. The main difference of this antenna from the first one is that, this antenna radiates in circular polarization (CP). Also, this antenna supports the UWB by operating in the frequency range between 3.8-11.0 GHz. In the third antenna structure, a coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) is used instead of the microstrip line fed which is main goal of this thesis. This antenna operates between 3.1-17.2 impedance bandwidth and has an arc-shaped monopole radiator and arc-shaped ground. Finally, a microstrip antenna with a G-shaped patch and a rectangular ground was designed which is the main as this thesis main objective. Proposed antenna is smaller in size than the first three antenna and suitable for reconfiguring the frequency to make a band-notch. The prototyped antenna has 8.0 × 27.5 mm2 overall dimensions. A PIN diode switch is integrated on G-shaped patch to reconfiguring the frequency band-notch. With the forward bias, ON-State, of the PIN diode, the antenna operates between 2.8-12.6 GHz frequencies. When the PIN diode is in the OFF-State, the antenna make band-notch between the frequencies of 3.5-4.95 GHz.In this thesis study, all antenna designs were made by using the HyperLynx 3D EM simulation program based on the Moment Method (MoM). Proposed antennas are optimized using genetic algorithm through optimization module that is integrated into HyperLynx 3D EM program. S11, VSWR, radiation pattern, maximum gain, total efficiency and surface current distribution parameters are considered to antenna performance analysis. Prototypes of the proposed antennas were made on FR4 material with LPKF Protomat PCB machine. S11 measurements of prototyped antennas are made by using Keysight PNA 5224A Network Analyzer. The radiation pattern and maximum gain measurements were also made using a turn-table which is connected to the network analyzer. Simulation results are verified with the measurement results. 90

By sequentially pushing micro-beads towards and away from a sensing surface, we show that ultrasonic radiation forces can be used to enhance the interaction between a functionalized glass surface and polystyrene micro-beads, and distinguish those that bind to the surface, ultimately by using an integrated optical waveguide implanted in the reflector to facilitate optical detection. The movement towards and immobilization of streptavidin coated beads onto a biotin functionalized waveguide surface is achieved by using a quarter-wavelength mode pushing beads onto the surface, while the removal of non-specifically bound beads uses a second quarter-wavelength mode which exhibits a kinetic energy maxima at the boundary between the carrier layer and fluid, drawing beads towards this surface. This has been achieved using a multi-modal acoustic device which exhibits both these quarter-wavelength resonances. Both 1-D acoustic modeling and finite element analysis has been used to design this device and investigate the spatial uniformity of the field.We demonstrate experimentally that 90% of specifically bound beads remain attached after applying ultrasound, with 80% of non-specifically bound control beads being successfully removed acoustically. This approach overcomes problems associated with lengthy sedimentation processes used for bead-based bioassays and surface (electrostatic) forces, which delay or prevent immobilization. We explain the potential of this technique in the development of DNA and protein assays in terms of detection speed and multiplexing.

Bu çalışmada silikon mikro-yuvarlarda optik lif bağlayıcıları (OFHC) yöntemi ile uyarılan fısıldayan geçit kipi (WGM) optik çınlamaları ve bu çınlamaların optik lif iletişim ve biyoalgılama alanlarında uygulamaları incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın kuramsal altyapısı WGM'lerin düzlem dalga ile uyarımı için Lorenz-Mie kuramı (LMT) ve Gauss ışını uyarımı için kapsamlı Lorenz-Mie kuramı (GLMT) yöntemleri ile oluşturulmuştur. Deneysel ölçüm düzeneği ve silisyum yuvarların optoelektronik incelenmesi birlikte ele alınmış ve gerekli yapılar için sayısal benzeşimler yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın deneysel sonuçları, düzlem dalga ve Gauss ışını için sayısal benzeşim sonuçları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Elastik ışık saçılımı ve silisyum mikro-yuvarlarda gözlemlenen WGM'ler, 0o iletim ve 90o saçılma açılarına göre incelenmiştir. WGM'lerin izge yapısı, kip uzaklığı ve nitelik katsayısı açısından incelenmiş ve kuramsal beklentiler ile uyumluluğu gözlemlenmiştir. Elastik ışık saçılımlarının izge incelenmesi, optik çınlamaların incelenmesi ile ele alınmış ve gözlemlenen WGM kümeleri, açıya göre saçılma dahil WGM dağılımı, silisyum mikro-yuvarların eliptikliği nedeniyle oluşan azimut kipi ayrışması veya parçacık dokunması nedeniyle oluşan kip ayrışması bakımlarından açıklanmıştır. Bunun yanında, WGM izgesi ölçümlerinde gözlemlenen asimetrik optik çınlama yapısı da incelenmiş ve bu yapıların 90o elastik ışık saçılımında gözlemlenebilen Fano biçimi optik çınlamalar olduğu gözlenmiştir. Fano biçimi optik çınlamalar, OFHC üzerinde yer alan yüzey düzensizlikleri ve geometrik ışık çınlamaları ile mikro-yuvarlarda uyarılan WGM optik çınlamaları arasındaki evre farkı ile açıklanmıştır. Elde edilen Fano biçimi optik çınlamalar, optik süzme ve anahtarlama uygulamalarında kullanılabilirliği öngörülmüştür. Ek olarak, silisyum mikro yuvarlarda uyarılan WGM'lerin, DNA moleküllerinin algılanmasında kullanılabilmesi için bir biyoalgılama yöntemi de sunulmuştur. Bu yöntem, DNA parçacıklarının silisyum yuvarlara dokunması sonucunda yarattıkları optik çınlama kaymalarına dayanmaktadır. Bu yöntemle sadece optik yöntemlerle çok küçük moleküllerin algılanması olasıdır. We review the microsphere optical resonators with their whispering gallery modes (WGM) and the coupling of light to the microspheres by optical fiber half couplers (OFHC). A theoretical background for the optical resonances in spherical particles is given for plane wave excitation using the Lorenz-Mie Theory, and Gaussian beam excitation using the Generalized Lorenz-Mie Theory (GLMT). Numerical simulations for plane wave excitation using LMT and Gaussian beam excitation using GLMT are obtained to explain the experimental light scattering results. A brief description of the experimental light scattering setup is given together with the properties of the silicon microsphere. The elastic light scattering and the observation of the WGMs on the silicon microspheres are presented for 0o transmission and 90o elastic scattering. The mode structure is analyzed with the mode spacing and quality factor measurements, which corresponds well with the theoretical expectations. The analysis of the WGM spectrum continues with the characterization of the WGM clusters. These clusters can either be explained by the angular distribution of the WGMs, azimuthal mode splitting due to ellipticity or the mode splitting induced by a particle. The observed asymmetrical lineshapes in the spectra are also explained. The presented measurements show a Fano type lineshape for the 90o elastic light scattering. This line shape is explained by the phase relation of the WGMs with the background created by the surface imperfections and the glare spots. The Fano lineshape observed in the measurements can be used for fast switching and filtering applications. A biosensing scheme for DNA particles is also presented, where a particle adsorbed on the microsphere creates an observable shift in the WGM spectrum. All in all, the optical resonances, namely WGMs are characterized towards possible applications in sizing, sensing and filtering applications. Bu çalışmanın amacı, iki farklı yöntem kullanarak kapasitif dokunmatik sensör tasarlamak ve geliştirmektir.Tezin tasarım ve geliştirme aşamasında, dokunmatik cihazlarda kullanılan kapasitif sensörler araştırılmış ve bunların çalışma yöntemleri ve birbirinden farkı incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda projected kapasitif sensörlerin tasarımında kullanılan iki farklı yöntem ile birbirinin aynısı iki ayrı dokunmatik kart tasarlanmıştır. Tasarlanan kartlar üzerinde yazılım geliştirme çalışmaları yapılıp, bu sensörlerin elektrik ve elektromagnetic gürültünün çok olduğu ortamlardan etkilenmeden çalıştırılması sağlanarak bu tip kapasitif sensörler daha güvenilir hale getirilmiştir. Kartların birisinde geliştirilen yazılım sayesinde, elektrik ve elektromagnetic gürültüyü tespit etmek ve sensörlerin çalışma frekansını değiştirerek frekans atlama yapılmaktadır.Bu tasarım ve geliştirmenin yanı sıra her iki dokunmatik kartta da aynı yazılım filtre değerleri ile yazılım yüklenereki aynı koşullar altında test edilmiştir. Elde edilen ölçüm sonuçları grafikler halinde sunulup analiz edilerek hangi kapasitif dokunmatik yöntemin hangi ortama karşı daha dayanıklı ve duyarlı olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu yöntemlerin birbirine karşı avantaj ve dezavantajları ortaya konulmuştur. The purpose of this study is to design and develop capacitive touch sensor using two different methods.In the design and development phase of the thesis, capacitive sensors that are used in touch sensing devices are researched, and their working principles and the differences between them are examined. At the end of the research two identical touch sensing cards are designed with two different methods which are used in the design of projected capacitive sensors. By carrying out software development on the designed cards and providing the sensors working in environment with lots of electrical and electromagnetic noise, these types of capacitive sensors are made more reliable. Thanks to software that developed on one of the cards, frequency hopping is made by detecting the electrical and electromagnetic noise and so changing the operating frequency of the sensors.As well as this design and development, both of the touches sensing cards are tested under same conditions by loading software with the same filter values.By presenting and analyzing the obtained measurement results in graphical form, the result of which capacitive touch sensing method is more resistant and sensitive to which environment is decided. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods against each other are introduced. 133
