- Abstract
Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) is a well-circumscribed thick fibrotic pseudo capsule, composed of a variable combination of necrotic and solid cystic hemorrhagic areas that occur mainly in young women in the second and third decades of life. The etiology and pathogenesis of SPN are unknown, it is presumed to originate during early embryogenesis due to endocrine disorders, it also has nonspecific clinical presentations. Choice treatment is surgical resection, which is curative in most of the cases. There are key imaging findings that can help us suspect this pathology. Tomography is the more useful imaging study for the initial evaluation of these tumors. The main purpose is to highlight the most common radiological findings to make it easier to identify them and make an accurate diagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BONE cells , *SURFACE structure , *OSTEOCHONDROMA , *DISEASE relapse , *HISTOPATHOLOGY , *EAR - Abstract
In this case report, we aimed to share the clinical and histopathological examination and treatment process of a 6-month-old hybrid cat brought with the complaint of swelling in the medial part of the right auricle. In clinical examination, it was determined that the mass had a hard and irregular surface structure. As a result of the clinical examination, it was decided to completely extirpate the mass and send it to the pathology department. The mass was widely separated from the surrounding tissues and extirpated with the help of cautery. Microscopic examination of the mass revealed that there were chondrocytes among the dense bone cell accumulations and that they formed islands in some areas. As a result of histopathological examinations, it was determined that the suspicious mass was osteochondroma. During the postoperative examinations, it was determined that there was no recurrence or complication in the patient. As a result, it was concluded that this presentation will contribute to the literature since osteochondroma masses are rare in the ear region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To report anatomopathological results of the prophylactic appendectomies in the Hospital Clínico de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile (FACh) and to compare them with existing studies. Material and Method: Descriptive, retrospective analysis of patients that underwent prophylactic appendectomies between 2013 and 2017 in the Hospital FACh and their anatomopathological results, according to clinical registries and pathology reports. Results: A total of 200 samples obtained from patients that underwent appendectomy were rescued. 80% resulted with no pathological findings, 13,5% had fibrous obliteration, and 2,5% showed acute appendicitis in different stages. Malignancy was found in 0,5% of the samples. Discussion: The percentage of non-pathological appendices correlates with the results reported in the literature. On the other hand, malignancy is present in all the reviewed reports, with a variable low relative rate. There is a debate on whether all appendixes should be studied. Conclusion: There are no studies like this one, however, our results are comparable to the reports of incidental appendectomies. Histopathological analysis seems to be essential due to the risk of prevalence of malignancy [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
To evaluate the predictive potential of the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) value of intraprostatic tumors derived from preoperative [68 Ga]Ga-PSMA-I&T PET/CT (SUVT), and its ratios to SUVmax in the liver (SUVTLR) and parotid gland (SUVTPR) with respect to histopathological findings. Data from patients who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer (PC) at our clinic between 2017-2020 were assessed. Patients with a secondary malignancy, a history of transurethral prostate resection, prior treatment for PC, or who received salvage RP were excluded. Whole-body images obtained using the same device, as per the guidelines, were reviewed by two nuclear medicine specialists with more than a decade of experience to reach a consensus for each lesion. The relationships between age, PSA, Prostate Volume, clinical T stage, biopsy International Society of Urological Pathology grade (ISUP), D'amico risk group, intraprostatic tumor volume (HPTV) identified in the final histopathological specimen review, HP-ISUP grade, seminal vesicle invasion (SVI), extracapsular invasion (ECI), positive surgical margine (PSM), SUVT, SUVTLR, and SUVTPR were analyzed. The mean age of the 64 included patients was 64.1±5.3 y-o. A statistically significant correlation was found between SUVT, SUVTLR, SUVTPR values, and histopathologic stage parameters, such as biopsy ISUP, D'amico Risk Classification, HP-ISUP, HPTV (P <.05). PSMATV, SUVT, and SUVTLR were statistically significant predictors of extracapsular invasion, while PSA, PSMATV, and SUVTLR were significant predictors of SVI (P <.05). The standardized SUVT, SUVTLR, and SUVTPR values could be employed as noninvasive markers to assist in predicting postoperative histopathological findings, particularly ECI, SVI, and PSM. MOHS surgery , *SWEAT glands , *LYMPHADENECTOMY , *SYMPTOMS , *RADIOTHERAPY - Abstract
The eccrine porocarcinoma (EPC) is a cancer of the sweat glands in the skin, with a diverse clinical presentation that includes plaques, ulcerated nodules, and polypoid lesions. Symptoms may involve itching, pain, and inflammation, in addition to signs of malignancy such as ulcers, bleeding, rapid growth, or pain. Histopathology shows the proliferation of atypical cells with malignant features, including pleomorphism and nuclear hyperchromasia. It can metastasize to distant organs, with common sites being bone, bladder, retroperitoneum, among others. Survival depends on the tumor size, with worse prognosis for tumors larger than 4 cm. The primary treatment is surgical removal, especially in early stages, with lymph node dissection in cases of involvement. Mohs micrographic surgery is used for localized cases. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy may be options in cases of metastasis or recurrence. Long-term follow-up is crucial, and ongoing research is needed to improve treatment strategies.

Myxoid sarcoma comprises malignant tumors of myxoid origin. Low-Grade Fibromyxoid Sarcoma (LGFM) has benign histopathological characteristics, slow growth, but with high metastatic potential. There are at least 25 cases of LGFM in humans, being more common in the deep intramuscular region, mainly in the thigh and trunk, but it has also been described in the retroperitoneum, mesentery and renal capsule. In December 2022, a 2-year-old male Wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus) had difficulty walking and a nodule was noted in the dorsal region of the left pelvic limb, measuring 2.5 cm x 3 cm. In January 2023, amputation was performed and the morphological diagnosis obtained was myxoid sarcoma. In February 2023, formation was observed in the left renal capsule measuring 2cm, growing to 6cm in May 2023, with the same diagnosis as that of the limb. The tutors opted for the surgical removal of the neoformation, however, the animal evolved to death, being referred for necroscopic examination. The case represents the first worldwide case of LGFM in Wistar, the second reported in animals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Eccrine mucinous nevus is an uncommon hamartoma whose histological diagnosis is simple because of its peculiar morphological features, which include an increase in the number and/or size of the glands and eccrine ducts accompanied by abundant mucin deposits. When it presents with the typical symptom, focal hyperhidrosis, clinical suspicion is possible.

Eurytrema coelomaticum are trematodes that parasitize cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, and camelids, and, accidentally, humans and cats. The affected animal usually has a subclinical pancreatic disease, but the damage caused to health and animal production is underestimated. Currently, praziquantel is the unique drug proven effective against this parasite, but no formulations containing this drug are available for ruminants in Brazilian market. The objective of the present study was to separately evaluate in vitro anthelmintic activity of praziquantel (PZQ) and nitazoxanide (NTZ) against E. coelomaticum by assessing motility after 3, 12, and, 15 hours of incubation and subsequent histopathological examination of the parasites. E. coelomaticum specimens were obtained from the pancreas of naturally infected cattle, collected from animals slaughtered in the city of Concordia-SC, Brazil. The specimens were incubated in plates with a culture medium (n = 60 per group), with 80µg/ml of PZQ (positive control group), or 61,5µg/ml of NTZ (treated group), or UNT (untreated control). After 12 hours of incubation all parasites of the NTZ and PZQ groups were motionless or dead, while in the negative control group, 91.67% (55/60) presented normal motility after 15 hours of incubation (P < 0.001). Histopathological examination showed severe damage in vitellogenic gland, intestine, parenchyma, integument, and testicle in both treated and positive control groups. It was concluded that PZQ and NTZ showed in vitro anthelmintic action against the parasite Eurytrema coelomaticum, as they caused significant lesions in the evaluated organs and reduced the parasite's motility. Objective. This study was conducted retrospectively to assess the cystic echinococcosis status of farm animals from the samples sent to Samsun Veterinary Control Institute of the Republic of Türkiye, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, between January 2016 and December 2022. Materials and Methods. A total of 818 sheep, 160 goats, and 990 cattle necropsy materials were examined macroscopically and histopathologically according to World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) guidelines. Cysts were detected in 61 of examined materials. Results. The rate of total cystic echinococcosis positivity in farm animals was found to be 3.1% in northern Türkiye. Cysts were detected in at least one of the liver and lungs. It was detected in the liver in 24 cases (39.3%), the lung in 23 cases (37.7%), and both the lung and liver in 11 cases (18%). In addition, cysts were found in both of lung and spleen (1 case), kidney and liver (1 case), and heart and liver (1 case). The positivity rate was higher in sheep than in other ruminants, and the difference with other ruminant species was statistically significant. (p<0.001). The difference between prevalence rates by years was found to be statistically significant (p=0.001). Conclusion. Türkiye is defined as a highly endemic region for Echinococcus granulosus and Echinococcus multilocularis. Surveillance should be done regularly to implement control programs. The information presented in this study will contribute to gaining an idea about the status of cystic echinococcosis in livestock in northern Türkiye and to the development of prevention and control strategies.

Lentigo maligna is an in situ cutaneous melanoma that arises in sun-damaged skin. Its most common presentation is a progressive, slow-growing, irregularly pigmented spot on the face of older patients. Although the exact percentage of lentigo maligna that progresses to invasive tumors is unknown, it is thought to lie between 2% and 5%. Both the clinical and histologic diagnosis of lentigo maligna can be challenging, especially in patients with early-stage or atypical disease. Treatment also holds challenges, because lesions are located in highly visible areas and are often large. Surgery can thus compromise cosmetic and sometimes functional outcomes. We review clinical and histopathological findings that can facilitate the diagnosis of lentigo maligna. We also examine treatment options, with a focus on surgery.

Objective. To identify and determine the infection parameters of the metacestode Parvitaenia in different culture stages of Dormitator latifrons and to evaluate the histological damage caused by this parasite. Materials and methods. Forty-five specimens were examined, 15 in each phase: prebreeding, pre-fattening, and fattening, to identify the metacestode and tissue damage caused using conventional parasitology and histology techniques. Prevalence, intensity, and median intensity were calculated. A Mood’s median test evaluated the difference between intensity per culture phase. Total length, weight, condition factor, and hepatosomatic index were correlated with intensity by linear correlation analysis. Liver fragments were evaluated to identify the tissue damage. Results. A total of 29,151 cestodes were found and were identified as Parvitaenia cochlearii. Cestode prevalence was 100% in each culture phase. The median intensity ranged from 22 to 625 individuals and showed significant differences between culture phases (X² = 29.391; p<0.0001). Intensity showed moderate positive correlation with total fish length (r² = 0.45; p<0.05) and low correlation with weight (r² = 0.38; p<0.05). In less parasitized livers, fibrosis and congestion around the cysts were observed, while in livers with high levels of infection, parenchymal reduction, fibrosis, and increase in melanomacrophage centers were observed. Conclusions. This is the first report of P. cochlearii on D. latifrons in aquaculture. We suggest that there is a tendency for cestode accumulation during fish growth, which could have negative implications for trade. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Material and Method: ethanolic extract and its ethyl acetate fraction were considered for the study and quercetin was quantitatively estimated by high performance thin layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method. Moreover, hematological and biochemical studies (IL-6) were performed in blood and serum of wistar albino rat. Then histopathological studies had also been performed on rat hind paw joint. Result: phytochemical screening estimated the presence of carbohydrates, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, phytosterols, amino acids and fixed oil in ethanolic extract and ethyl acetate fraction of the plant. Amount of quercetin in the flowers of the plant was found to be 0.26% w/w by quantitative HPTLC method. The level of proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin (IL-6) was considerably decreased (p<0.001) in the fraction treated group of rats at 400 mg/kg b. w by considering complete freund's adjuvant (CFA) induced arthritic model. Conclusion: Ameliorated hematological, biochemical and histopathological parameters confirmed the antiarthritic potential of the plant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
