Purpose: This empirical paper investigates how entrepreneurial firms change their business models in the context of internationalization by identifying different forms of business model innovation (BMI) and exploring the interrelationship between BMI and internationalization. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the dynamic states approach of entrepreneurship (Levie and Lichtenstein, 2010), this paper analyses primary and secondary data from nine European firms following a multiple case study approach. Findings: This paper presents four patterns of radical change and eight types of incremental adaption with-in business models in the context of internationalization. We describe these BMI patterns and types, and we also show how they contribute to increasing involvement in international business activities and the internationalization-related triggers that might cause them. Originality/value: This paper contributes to a better understanding of the BMI process in the course of internationalization. Purpose – Change management depends on the type and extent of the implemented change. The aim of the paper is to identify management model of changes in Slovak enterprises and to define conditions of effective change management for the prevailing type of changes. Research methodology – The main method of the research was primary quantitative research via questionnaires. Outputs from the questionnaires were evaluated by statistical methods, pivot tables, and chi-square test. Findings – Slovak enterprises apply functional approach to change management based on financial improvement. Mostly performed changes are operative. The success of changes can increase focus on improvement of internal processes, force field optimization and project elaboration via log frame. Research limitations – The limitations of the research consist in a chosen quantitative method which doesn’t enable discovery of a qualitative and psychological sides of managing changes and the research sample including mostly small sized enterprises in Slovakia. Practical implications – The detected conditions of an effective change management can inspire the enterprises to increase the success by implementation of changes. Originality/Value – New empirical knowledge concerning change management in the practise of Slovak enterprises, identification of the applied model by managing the changes and conditions for an effective management of changes.

The paper presents organizational reforms in human service organizations.It analyzes the driving and restraining forces, barriers, difficulties, and dilemmas in implementing comprehensive reforms in organizations in general and in human service organizations in particular.The paper analyses the reasons for the partial success and failure in implementing reforms and call for rethinking comprehensive organizational reforms vs.implementing incremental changes. The updating of changing information plays a significant role in ensuring the quality of OpenStreetMap, which is usually completed by mapping the whole changing objects with a high degree of uncertainty. The incremental object-based approach provides opportunities to reduce the unreliability of data, while challenges of data inaccuracy and redundancy remain. This paper provides an incremental outline-based approach for OpenStreetMap data updating to solve this issue. First, incremental outlines are delineated from the changed objects and distinguished through a spatial classification. Then, attribute information corresponding to incremental outlines is proposed to assist in describing the physical changes. Finally, through a geometric calculation based on both the spatial and attribute information, updating operations are constructed with a variety of rules to activate the data updating process. The proposed approach was verified by updating an area in the OpenStreetMap datasets. The result shows that the incremental outline-based updating approach can reduce both the time and storage costs compared to incremental objects and further improve data quality in the updating process.

In the wake of Esping-Andersen's and Pierson's landmark publications, comparative welfare state research has revolved around the retrenchment of social policy and the transformation of welfare state regimes. One of the chief problems of these studies is the treatment of time. Very often, changes are incremental and their real impacts are not immediately visible but take years or even decades before the consequences fully materialize. The purpose of this paper is to discuss those incremental processes—that consist of series of smaller “not-system-shifting changes”—which may gradually change central features of a welfare state. Pension programmes, spanning long time periods, provide a good example. Only in some rare cases were pension schemes reformed in one step and in such a way that one can definitely ascertain a system shift. Most changes, however, are gradual, and recurrently enacted minor adjustments seem to leave the basic principles of the scheme intact. In this paper pension reform policies in Germany and Finland will be used to answer the question of when a change is big enough to be labelled as a system shift. It is argued that small “not-system-shifting” changes of the last two decades will eventually alter the basic characteristics of old-age security in both countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
