Background. Despite the decrease in fetoinfantile losses, the levels of perinatal mortality and stillbirth remain quite high. One of the medical criteria for viability is the anthropometric indicators of the child, therefore, their relevant medical and statistical assessment may allow us to establish potential opportunities for reducing the loss of viable children at perinatal period.Objective. The aim of the study is to assess anthropometric data of children died at perinatal period.Methods. We have analyzed 277 cases of children deaths at ante- and intranatal periods and 197 cases of newborns deaths during first 7 days of life. Assessment of anthropometric data of children died at perinatal period was presented via the method of sigmal deviations and the centile method.Results. Anthropometric data of premature infants died at perinatal period in 90–94% of cases corresponded to the physical development for children of this gestational age. Anthropometric data of full-term children died during the first 168 hours of life, in 70.0% of cases, corresponded to 3–6 corridors of physical development (P10–P90), in 20.0% of cases — 7–8 corridors. 58.3% of full-term children died at perinatal period have harmonious development which significantly exceeds the proportion of children with sharply disharmonious development (19.5%) and with disharmonious development (22.2%). 79.0% of all neonatal deaths occur in the first 72 hours of life (for the early neonatal period), while losses on the first day account for 54.0% of all deaths in children during the first week.Conclusion. This study has shown that the anthropometric data of children died at perinatal period significantly corresponded to the standard indicators established for children of this gestation age.

The aim of the work was to investigate how gender, age and type of activity in summer affects the indicators of physical development (PD) of children. 1054 students (493 boys and 561 girls) aged 7-16 years took part in the study. The PD of children was studied by assessing somatometric and physiometric indi­cators. To assess the impact of the type of activity, a thematic questionnaire "Summer" was used. It was found that the gender and age of children had a significant effect on PD indicators in the summer. The most intense increase in body length oc­curred at the age of 7-12 years, body weight - in 10-14-year-olds, and up to 16 years grouth of two parameters gradually slo­wed down. From the age of 10, children showed a positive increase in lung capacity (LC). In 15-year-old adolescents, a de­c­rease in both indicators (ChC and LC) was found. It was found that 62% of children carried out educational activities in the summer, 24% of those were engaged in business activities, almost 40% of students were participants in hiking trips and 23% of children attended a children's health camp. The chosen type of activity in the summer influenced the indicators of the pu­pils' PD as follows: educational activities were accompanied by a decrease in body length and strength of the left arm, busi­ness activity, hiking trips and staying in a health camp were accompanied by an increased weight gain and an increase in LC.

Height, body weight and body mass index are important parameters of health and are widely used in clinical practice, for assessing health of children, and for population studies. Amid the general globalization, the main trend of the present time is joining efforts of various countries for prevention and treatment of diseases in children. The work of the World Health Organization (WHO) on creation of international standards of anthropometric measures and parameters of children's development is based upon this trend. A key point of the WHO standards is their creation based on a survey of a large cohort of children (from 5 countries of 6 continents) who were in optimal conditions: who were breast-fed and received the up-to-date level of care and quality of the provided medical care. This actually allowed to eliminate the main exogenous factors that affect such parameters and to make them, in fact, the reference ones. The application of a unified approach using the WHO standards allows to carry out multicenter studies involving different countries as well as to compare the data obtained in different regions. Studies have shown that the WHO standards for physical development are applicable in different regions of the world. In this regard, the creation of «regional» reference curves for height and body weight of children that are different from the generally accepted standards is currently inappropriate, but it is really relevant to use the WHO standards.

This study presents anthropometric indicators in a sample of elderly men aged 60 years and older (mean age 67±0,7 years, n=124) living in the Magadan region. It is shown that the examined sample has a significant decrease in body length due to a decrease in sitting height, which leads to the formation of a disproportionate somatotype and is observed against the background of an increase in chest circumference, total fat content and body mass index without a decrease in body weight and muscle component of body composition. It was found that overweight was characteristic of 58%, obesity of the first degree was detected in 25% of the subjects, and normal body weight was noted in 17% of elderly men. But at the same time, it should be emphasized that in the examined group, in the absence of significant dynamics of body weight relative to men of working age, an «artificial» increase in BMI by 2,1 kg/m2 was detected, due to a decrease in body length. The absence of a decrease in the muscular component indicates the absence of a tendency to sarcopenic manifestations and reflects a favorable trend in the formation of the somatic status of elderly people living in the North. Thus, the indicators of physical development obtained in our study in the group of elderly Northerners can be the basis for the formation of normative anthropometric data specific to the elderly.
