Background: In Indian context, infertility is often a silent struggle. Despite the high prevalence of infertility in the country, the majority of couples do not share their struggles with family or friends due to social stigma, thus increasing their psychological vulnerability. Heartfulness meditation has shown to decrease stress, anxiety, loneliness and improve sleep along with quality of life. Objectives: The current retrospective series evaluated the effectiveness of Heartfulness-based integrative therapy on infertility outcomes. Methods: The program consisted of a 5- day onsite lifestyle modification workshop and online follow up meditation sessions. Results: 54 couples with infertility participated in the program with a mean age of 30.74 years (SD 5.04) for females and 34.03 years (SD 4.54) for males. 15 couples presented with male infertility, 16 couples presented with female infertility and in 5 couples both partners had infertility problems. Further, 18 couples had unexplained infertility. 24 couples conceived with 18 natural conceptions, five via assisted reproductive technology and one spontaneous abortion. Conclusion: The program was beneficial in the cohort who utilized it as prescribed resulting in conception of 24 out of 54 couples. Future research investigating the causal relationship of Heartfulness meditation on fertility outcomes in a randomized control study could solidify this treatment method to be used independently or as an adjuvant therapy with assisted reproductive technologies.

Objective: to assess the effectiveness of auriculotherapy in reducing occupational stress among Family Health Strategy workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: a controlled randomized clinical trial divided into two groups, namely: auriculotherapy for stress group and placebo group. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to assess data normality. The ANOVA test for repeated measures and the Tukey post-hoc test were applied to the group with normal samples. In turn, the Friedman and Durbin-Conover tests were employed in the group with non-normal distribution. Cohen's d index was calculated for the therapy effect size. A 95% significance level and p<0.05 were considered. Results: the auriculotherapy group presented 16.3% and 23.7% reductions in occupational stress after the third and sixth auriculotherapy sessions, with Cohen's d indices of 1.12 (large effect) and 1.82 (very large effect), respectively. Conclusion: auriculotherapy proved to be effective in reducing occupational stress among Family Health Strategy workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is suggested that new studies are developed both during and after the pandemic in order to improve health workers' Quality of Life. ReBEC registration: RBR -- 38hjyt3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aim: to think critically about the limits and potentialities of mindfulness for nursing care, exploring available scientific evidence, its use in health care and nursing care. Method: the critical thinking based itself on the topics: Mindfulness and scientific evidence, Mindfulness in health care, and Mindfulness in nursing care. Results: the potential of mindfulness interventions was evidenced to treat and prevent stress- related problems and to promote coping strategies considered more assertive, both for clients and for the nursing professionals themselves. The limitations involved the insipidity of the subject in the scope of Brazilian nursing and in the design of the studies, since interventions based on mindfulness require longer protocols that require training and engagement in the practice. Final considerations: evidence syndicate several potentialities of mindfulness based interventions for self-care and attention to users and families, promoting comprehensive care and prescribing an innovative perspective for care. - Abstract
In this article we aim to make a study about integrative pedagogical practices used by teachers of the Integrated High School (hereinafter EMI). The study deals with a state of knowledge made through the Google Academic database, in a temporal cut from 2007 to 2017. The analyzes of this work start from fourteen texts that present in their theme educational practices that help in the implementation of the integrated curriculum and can contribute to the training of the subjects involved in the teaching-learning process. Among these integrative educational practices, we can see that, usually, those that start from the articulation of interdisciplinary projects and integrative projects. The study evidences the need for integrative practices in EMI due to the relevance of its approximation between theory and practice in the integration of disciplines and areas of knowledge, as well as its effective contribution in the consolidation of an integrated curriculum. With the passage of time valuable lessons have been learnt about both effective practices for program and system integration and the sizable barriers, including the challenges in sustaining constructive integration. This paper is a reflection on sustainable integrative practices and is grounded in the direct experience of one of the authors, who held the post of the South Australian Social Inclusion Commissioner. We reflect upon the structure and mechanism of the South Australian Social Inclusion Initiative (2002–2011) as well as using a case study of a successful integrative program of the Social Inclusion Initiative, a program in South Australia’s School Retention Action Plan 2004 Making the Connections (South Australian Social Inclusion Board, 2004) that was implemented to improve school retention. The case study draws out salient factors of clear rationale, coordination, collaboration, communication, team work and trust as skills and ingredients to bring about integration in policy and programs. While the integration literature affirms that these ingredients are primary skills for the development of an integrative framework, we also assert that they are not enough for successful and sustained integration. Absent from much of the literature is a discussion about the use of power and the manner in which horizontal integrative work occurs. We take up this theme to draw out some implications for analysis of sustainable integrative practices.

- Abstract
Background: Integration between organizational units to achieve common goals has been of interest to health systems because of the potential to improve patient-centered care. However, the means by which integrative practices actually influence patient-centered care remain unclear. Whereas many studies claim a positive association between implementation of integrative practices and patient-centered care, others raise concerns that integrative practices may not necessarily improve patient-centered care. Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the mechanism by which integrative practices influence patient-centered care and to suggest a systematic approach for effective integration. Approach: We conducted a qualitative study comparing diabetes and mental health services through focus groups with 60 staff members from one health maintenance organization. We developed quantitative indicators to support the suggested model. Findings: We identified a five-category framework of integrative practices that each directly and distinctively influences patient-centered care. Moreover, our findings suggest that integrative practices influence patient-centered care indirectly through creation of interdependent treatment competence, which enables providers to repeatedly deliver interdependent treatment in a flexible and adaptive way. Practical Implications: Providers should carefully implement integrative practices considering patient and disease characteristics, as our findings suggest that more implementation of integrative practices is not necessarily better for patient-centered care. Specifically, optimal implementation refers to the collective implementation of different integrative practices and thus encompasses both the extent (i.e., the amount of currently implemented practices out of those considered important to implement) and the extensiveness (i.e., the amount relative to the implementation of other practices) that may lead to interdependent treatment competence and higher patient-centered care. We suggest a creative measurement method of comparing the relative implementation of integrative practices that may assist managers and policy makers in developing interdependent treatment competence. - Abstract
The paper explores the relationship between organic and institutional forms of social control from a potential contribution by philosophical practice to understanding social sanctions. The argumentation begins from the point of empirical fact that laws and constitutions of various countries define the purpose of punishment in a utilitarian light in their preambles. This operational-utilitarian character of institutional social control is similar to the utilitarian nature of philosophical consulting as practice. When control, which presupposes a form of violence, is viewed in a broader understanding of the notion of violence, space opens for a discussion on a challenging and controversial question about whether or not can violence be integrative either in the sense of integrating values or in the sense of confirming someone’s social status after a transgression, and to what a larger degree than by institutionalised and from an individual conceptually relatively distant forms of sanction.

When control, which presupposes a form of violence, is viewed in a broader understanding of the notion of violence, space opens for a discussion on a challenging and controversial question about whether or not can violence be integrative either in the sense of integrating values or in the sense of confirming someone’s social status after a transgression, and to what a larger degree than by institutionalised and from an individual conceptually relatively distant forms of sanction., Rad se bavi odnosom između organskih i institucionalnih oblika društvene kontrole s točke gledišta mogućeg doprinosa filozofijske prakse razumjevanju društvenih sankcija.

“Estrangement of the self” is a hybrid between psychosomatic and political-economic spheres, where illness appears as symptom of the productive exploration and disciplining of the subjects. It is expected to outline the sociogenesis of the process and its functional etiology to the systemic development. Starting from data found, the social structure of psychosomatization is evidenced and possibilities for reinventing the praxis of care in the integrative rationalities of health are identified.

This study examines how a company can generate innovation opportunities by exploring and absorbing customer knowledge. The exploration can be performed via an in-depth or broad search for resources beyond organisational boundaries. Salespeople are an essential channel for an in-depth search in relation to customers, since salespeople possess rich knowledge of the customers. In order to be useful, such knowledge has to be absorbed in the company. Most of the literature on absorptive capacity has focused on R&D, while less focus has been placed on studying the role of individuals in the development of integrative practices. This paper demonstrates how a community of practice can enable organisations to move from potential absorptive capacity to realised absorptive capacity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Popular Health Education is a knowledge-building process that seeks to link people's knowledge with the knowledge of health professionals, forming a set of practices (conventional or not) that contribute to people's autonomy and power in their practices health care. The theoretical framework of Popular Education in Health starts from Popular Education, using the expanded concept of health and its social, cultural and historical dimensions to think and develop health care and its practices. This study aims to know and analyze the practices and health care carried out by users, in the perspective of primary care units in the municipality of Araricá/RS and how these practices can be related to the complementary practices proposed in the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC) and popular knowledge in the production of care. This is an exploratory, descriptive and qualitative study of the case study type. The data produced were organized for interpretation based on discourse analysis (AD). 64 users of the health units in the municipality of Araricá / RS participated in the study using the Family Health Strategy model, who consented and signed the Free and Informed Consent Form and the term of use of image and voice. Conversations were held with groups of users at community sites addressing the themes of popular health education, popular health knowledge and health care. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, as directed by the Resolution of the National Health Council No. 466/2012, opinion 3,510,088. Among the main results, we highlight the care related to healthy practices and living together. Care practices reveal social practices in the community, such as sharing stories, cooking recipes and food, teas, and the use of plants. Regarding forms of care, the study points to the use of alternative (unconventional) practices as part of the community's daily life, bringing to the context of health professionals in primary care units the need to offer listening and give voice to what they think, practice and people believe in their uniqueness of care. The conversation circles, in effect, strengthened a space of speech in which it was possible to know the health needs of users in the territory and pointed out the potential of PIC as an educational and emancipatory dimension of popular education. The educational processes of the practice of caring and health care are affirmed by intersubjective exchanges between people, by the bond and respect for the Other as a cognitive being. Based on this statement, it is imperative to find space for the expression of popular knowledge and thus five products were developed as a result of the research process: a) “POPULAR KNOWLEDGE: Guide to Teas of Araricá” presenting plants, teas, spices and the most used spices in the municipality of Araricá / RS; b) Documentary “Popular Knowledge and Health Care (ARARICÁ, 2020)” showing Popular Education and how it is constituted in a movement that is expressed through care practices, in the production of shared knowledge, enabling the approximation and dialogue between knowledge popular knowledge, scientific knowledge, professionals and health institutions in that community; c) Extension action - Cinema session - the documentary will be screened at the Araricá Municipal Culture Center, as a cinema session and the community will be invited to watch and honor a work that was developed jointly between users, health professionals and management; d) Researcher's blog: used to make the documentary and the tea guide public, with free access, as well as to explain the research objectives, present the authors, among other information; e) elaboration of a scientific article; f) elaboration of text composing a book chapter: The production of Teaching-Health Integration networks: Teaching and Research Experiences. As final considerations, we understand that when articulating Integrative and complementary practices in health (PIC), popular education in health and health care showed us an open path, a blank page to receive the life drawings of each one, to think about new ways of producing health, with an opportunity for dialogue between users and health professionals, seeking a joint decision on possible ways to unite knowledge, with the assumption of the subjects, with lovingness, with listening, building care and education itineraries liberating, singular in health, guided by affection and the ethical commitment of respect for knowledge, culture and diversity.

This work aims at understanding the policy texts within the Pedagogical-Political-Project (PPP) of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN). The study is based upon the theoretical-analytical basis by Stephen Ball and collaborators. In Addition, this research used the principles of interdisciplinarity discussing the policies of curricular integration in the PPP. It is a qualitative and bibliographical study. It is consolidated through document analysis. The analysis of the PPP documents points out the concern from IFRN towards a formative process that respects the unity and organization of the knowledge and its materialization on integrative practices. However, the analysis of the contents of the documents shows hybrid-sense texts. It states that integrative projects can be developed through disciplinary or interdisciplinary ways. Thus, this divergent discourse used in the PPP, shows that, as itself, any official policy documents are targets for interests, contention and negotiation of disciplinary communities. The hybrid senses found express this possible negotiation. It furthers itself from its very integrative character proposed.

The study aimed to investigate the importance of biodanza as a practice of care and its influence on the spirituality and the perception of women in the biodanza group. The research was carried out with seven women, who participate in the biodanza group, in the Equilibrio do Ser / CPICS - Municipal Health Secretariat - João Pessoa / PB. The research was based on the following questions: What is the impact of biodanza on women's lives? How can biodanza influence women's health and spirituality? The theoretical dialogue focused on relating concepts and meanings about biodiversity and spirituality, as well as addressing gender issues and caring for women's health. It was recorded that biodanza presents a specific theoreticalmethodological and experiential model that is anchored in the Biocentric Principle. The five lines of life (vitality, sexuality, creativity, affectivity and transcendence) have an integrative effect that acts on the boby at all levels: emotional, neurological, endocrine and immunological, modifying lifestyle, awakening self-consciousness and creates new motivations to live. The disconnection and disassociation between body / soul / spirit / nature / sacred / profane, etc. can lead to pathology, as alert Rolando Toro. Spirituality is understood as an essential component for health and is expressed in individual search, giving new meaning to people's lives. In biodanza, transcendence is the healthy expression of spirituality, and it is impossible to conceive of spirituality without vitality, the vital energy. Thus, the body, matter becomes an essential channeling component that allows connection, expression and encounter with spirituality. It, this is a qualitative, research of phenomenological nature with a hermeneutical approach. It was performed through a questionnaire application and guided interviews with women participatins of the biodanza group. The research highlighted dialogues Rolando Toro (1991), Boff (1999), Lelloup (2003), Frankl (2008), Jung (1990), Eliade (2011), Bourdieux (2004), Koenig (2012), Rohr (2012), Creswell (2014), Masini (2010), Maturana and Varela (1990), Capra (1997), Possebon (2018), Possebon (2017) among others that we sought to engage in dialogue. According to the research it can be understood that biodanza plays a fundamental role in the life the woman who practices it. The recognition of the feminine self is the first step for the woman to awaken from deep sleep and to find strength, balance and harmony within her.

Chronic wounds consist of injuries which do not heal spontaneously, or recur, even after treatment longer than three weeks. The process of skin restoration is complex and interdependent; it encounters several local or systemic factors that interfere in healing, besides the cultural and economic interferences in the choice of treatment. Currently there are several therapeutic resources, integrative and complementary practices which help the professional and the patient on the definition and greater adhesion to the treatment. Objectives: To identify the popular knowledge referred to by patients, in the treatment of chronic wounds in the bio-curative outpatient clinic, between 2007-2010 and to analyze the state of the art on the use of integrative and complementary practices through a bibliographic review. Material and method: Archives of the Bio-curative Outpatient Clinic and the Cellular Engineering Laboratory of chronic wound patients and a database were searched, concerning the choice of treatment, aiming to elaborate a contextualization of types of treatments. Conclusion: Most popular knowledge is transmitted by parents, from generation to generation, comprising guidelines of protein food restrictions, use of medicinal plants to aid in healing. Regarding the use of integrative practices, it was identified that many of them are not based on evidences, but not presenting contraindication, they should be accepted under periodic review of the assistance team, as a motivation for adhesion to traditional treatment.

Complementary and integrative health practices gradually became a reality in the public health care network across the country. Their use in the National Health System deserves reflection, especially when investigating the effects of their adoption in Brazil, a complex society that has incorporated increasingly sophisticated and expensive technological resources. This advance can be understood as an expression of a movement identified with new ways of learning and practicing health care, since integrative practices are characterized by interdisciplinarity and by specific languages that are opposed to the high-tech vision of health that prevails in the market society, dominated by health plans whose overriding purposes are to generate profit and to fragment the patient's treatment into specialty areas that do not take into account the totality of the human being seeking a remedy for their ills.

You've probably never seen a military officer on the cover of a Yoga publication and it may be a while before you see one there again. But let's give credit where credit is due. The military has always been in the forefront of high tech medical advances—much of today's emergency room medicine is a product of innovation that took place to address the wounds of war. We're used to high tech military innovation—from digital imaging to nuclear medicine. And recently the military has even been bringing the softer side of care, including Yoga practices, to the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorders. But it has never until now so clearly brought Yoga into the realm of its treatment regimens for both soldiers and their families, as you'll learn in the issues' feature article "Our Best Defense," by Nancy O'Brien. The Integrative and Complementary Health Practices propose an effective model of health integral care that privileges the basic health and adopts the promotion of health as its structural axis. The use of integrative practices has increased over the past few years. The study is justified in the lack of knowledge shown by the health teams about the theme and in the importance that it can bring about to the Basic Health Care. The present study intends to answer the question: What‟s the conception about the Integrative and Complementary Health Practices to the professionals that work in Basic Health Units? As bibliographic references were used mainly Pierre Bourdieu, François Laplantine, Madel T. Luz, Nelson Filice de Barros and Charles Tesser, among others. The methodology was a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews and participant observation. To analyze the results, it was used the content analysis of Laurence Bardin. The proposal is inserted in the Gender, Body and Health Line of Research, of the UFSM Postgraduate Social Science Program, in the theme Health.

- Abstract
Integration between organizational units to achieve common goals has been of interest to health systems because of the potential to improve patient centered care. However, the means by which integrative practices actually influence patient centered care remains unclear. While many studies claim a positive association between implementation of integrative practices and patient centered care, others raise concerns that integrative practices may not necessarily improve patient centered care. The aim of this study was to explore the mechanism by which integrative practices influence patient centered care and to suggest a systematic approach for integration. We conducted a qualitative study comparing diabetes and mental health services through focus groups with 60 staff members from one health maintenance organization (HMO). We developed quantitative indicators to support the suggested model. We identified a five-category framework of integrative practices that each directly and distinctively influence patient centered care. Moreover, our findings suggest that integrative practices influence patient centered care indirectly through creation of interdependent treatment competence, which enables providers to repeatedly deliver interdependent treatment in a flexible and adaptive way. Providers should carefully implement integrative practices considering patient and disease characteristics, as our findings suggest that more implementation of integrative practices is not necessarily better for patient centered care. Specifically, optimal implementation refers to the collective implementation of different integrative practices and thus encompasses both the extent (i.e. the amount of currently implemented practices out of those considered important to implement) and the extensiveness (i.e. the amount relative to the implementation of other practices), may lead to interdependent treatment competence and higher patient centered care. We suggest a creative measurement method of comparing the relative implementation of integrative practices that may assist managers and policy makers in developing interdependent treatment competence. - Abstract
This research examines the interrelationships among the nature of fuzziness in a task environment, shared team vision, integrative process practices and product development outcomes. Successes in new product development, critical for business growth and sustainable competitive advantages (Terwiesch et al., 1998), are affected through the ways project teams manage fuzzy front end processes (Khurana and Rosenthal, 1998). However, in spite of substantial research on fuzzy front end processes, the nature of the fuzziness (i.e., uncertainty and equivocality) and the front-end integrative practices are unclear and not adequately explored. Uncertainty means there is a lack of information and equivocality means there can be multiple interpretations. This research applies Daft and Lengel’s (1986) theory of organizational information processing to propose a theoretical rationale for front end fuzziness in task environments (i.e., uncertainty and equivocality) and creates a research framework in regard to the fuzzy front end practices in new product development. The main research question is: How do project teams achieve product development successes through resolving fuzziness in the front end and applying effective integrative process mechanisms? Supporting research questions are: (1) What is the nature of fuzziness (i.e., uncertainty and equivocality of external project environment) in front-end product development? (2) What are the critical front-end planning practices that resolve the sources of fuzziness? and (3) What constitutes integrative process mechanisms that build on the front end integrative practices? This research model is based on the revised model of Doll and Zhang (2008). The initial items of the nature of fuzziness (i.e., uncertainty and equivocality) are newly developed based on the literature review. The items of other constructs are refined and modified from the existing literature developed by Koufteros et al. (2005), Hong (2000), and Rauniar (2006). The contribution of this research is: First, to provide the theoretical framework to explicate the relationship among variables, which was incomplete in Doll and Zhang (2008); Second, to support the proposed model through empirical analysis (structured interviews with practitioners, a pilot study, multi-group invariance analysis, and stepwise regression analysis); Finally, to compare the responses from product development managers of manufacturing firms from the USA and South Korea as an international comparative study.
