This research analyzes the mitigation and intensification strategies used in expressing and managing differences of opinion within two online focus groups organized on the controversial Moors and Christians festivals with participants that come from a locality where the festivals are celebrated. Drawing on pragma-dialectical theory (van Eemeren, 2018), we study the expression and management of differences of opinion based on the concept of critical discussion and analyze the mitigation and intensification strategies used at each stage of their resolution, employing our own methodology (Aulit, 2023) adapted from Albelda Marco et al. (2014). Given that mitigation is a rhetorical-pragmatic strategy originated by face protection needs and intensification an argumentative strategy of reinforcement of the propositional content or communicative intention (Albelda and Briz, 2020), we highlight the argumentative and social effects produced by these strategies and their impact on softening or aggravating disagreements. The results show differences in the uses and effects generated by mitigation and intensification between the two groups at each stage of the critical discussion. However, the adequacy of these effects to the communication situation and speaker intention allows for the annihilation of potential conflicts and thus the maintain of a positive interactive climate and interpersonal relationship among the participants. Presentamos y describimos los nombres que funcionan como refuerzo expresivo de la negación, en combinación con verbos paramétricos, en corpus literarios del francés antiguo y del español medieval. Los denominamos “nombres de valor mínimo” (Nval_mín). Analizamos estos sustantivos como colocativos anti-intensivos cuyas bases corresponderían a los verbos paramétricos con los que se combinan. Tras una definición de nuestro objeto de estudio (1), pasamos a clasificar los Nval_mín del antiguo francés según sus rasgos y sus clases sintáctico-semánticas (2.1). A continuación, precisamos cuáles son las bases verbales y los modificadores que, eventualmente, acompañan a los distintos Nval_mín (2.2). Sigue la clasificación según rasgos y clases sintáctico-semánticos para el español medieval (3.1), así como la descripción de bases y modificadores (3.2). En la conclusión (4), ponemos de relieve las similitudes y diferencias entre las dos lenguas. Destacan, en particular, la mayor utilización en francés de prendas de vestir como Nval_mín y la marcada preferencia del español por el empleo de nombres de animales. Se añaden, además, diversos sustantivos no recogidos en trabajos anteriores.

Polarity shifting can be considered one of the most challenging problems in the context of sentiment analysis. Polarity shifters are treated as linguistic contextual items that can increment, reduce or neutralise the polarity of a word called 'focus' included in an opinion. The automatic detection of such items enhances performance and accuracy of computational systems for opinion mining. From a symbolic approach, we aim to advance in the automatic processing of the polarity shifters that affect the opinions expressed on tweets in English. To this end, we describe a novel knowledge-based model to deal with quantification in English, which increments or reduces the polarity of opinions. In particular, we explain the linguistic rules of each category of quantification shifter, including information about the scope and direction with respect to the focus. Furthermore, we present the mathematical formulae that calculate the strength of the effect on the prior polarity. Finally, we describe the matrices associated to the linguistic rules, which serve to model the knowledge in text-mining systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Currently, Instagram is the preferred social network for users, content creators and companies (Kemp 2024: 277-280). Among the most popular content posted by internet users are congratulations, which are expressive acts of positive politeness that enhance the face of the addressee. Despite this, there is still no research on politeness that deals with its study. The aim of this paper has been to examine the retrogratifying politeness that Spanish influential figures on Instagram use when congratulating close contacts on professional achievements, and the politeness strategies that their friends and family use when they comment. This type of enhancing politeness produces a mutual benefit in the faces of the author and their addressees. Based on the main politeness models that address face (Brown & Levinson 1978, 1987; Kerbrat-Orecchioni 1992, 1996) and on the taxonomy of responses to congratulations proposed by Elwood (2004), we conducted a sociopragmatic analysis of a corpus of congratulations shared during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic periods by well-known Instagram creators. The results showed that, in addition to congratulations, they included in their content and comments mostly displays of affection, compliments and affirmations. The commentators, instead of congratulating, preferred to show affection, compliment and applaud the good news. Moreover, both authors and commentators reinforced their interventions with various retrogratifying politeness intensification mechanisms. Actualmente, Instagram es la red preferida por los usuarios, los creadores de contenido y las empresas (Kemp 2024: 277-280) para comunicarse con su audiencia. Entre los contenidos que más publican los internautas destacan las felicitaciones, que son actos expresivos de cortesía positiva que buscan gratificar la imagen del destinatario. A pesar de ello, todavía no hay investigaciones cortesiológicas que aborden su estudio. El objetivo del presente trabajo ha sido examinar cómo es la cortesía retrogratificadora o valorizante que los personajes públicos influyentes españoles de Instagram emplean al realizar felicitaciones de logros profesionales a personas cercanas, y cómo son las estrategias corteses que los amigos y los familiares de los creadores utilizan cuando comentan. Para ello, se tomaron como base los principales modelos cortesiológicos que tratan la imagen (Brown y Levinson (1978, 1987; Kerbrat-Orecchioni 1992, 1996) y la taxonomía de respuestas a felicitaciones de Elwood (2004), y se aplicaron al análisis sociopragmático de un corpus de felicitaciones de conocidos creadores de Instagram. Los resultados mostraron que, además de las felicitaciones, estos incluían en sus contenidos y en sus comentarios, sobre todo, muestras de afecto, elogios y afirmaciones. Los comentadores, en lugar de felicitar, preferían mostrar afecto, elogiar y aplaudir la buena noticia. A su vez, tanto autores como comentadores reforzaban sus intervenciones con diversos mecanismos de intensificación de cortesía retrogratificadora, principalmente lexemas con sema de intensidad y repeticiones de emojis. Igualmente, se observó que los emojis son una pieza imprescindible para expresar cortesía retrogratificadora en las felicitaciones de logros.

En el discurso, las comparaciones estereotipadas (ej., más fresco que una lechuga, más loco que una cabra, más viejo que Matusalén…) funcionan como un mecanismo de intensificación hiperbólica, esto es, de exageración. A diferencia de las comparaciones libres, las estereotipadas son fórmulas fijas memorizables, pertenecientes al discurso repetido, disponibles para ser usadas cuando necesitamos expresar el contenido pragmático condensado en ellas. Este artículo presenta el análisis cualitativo de 106 comparaciones fraseológicas adjetivas con estereotipos de alimentos registradas en el Corpus léxico del español de Colombia (CorlexCo) del Instituto Caro y Cuervo, con el fin de establecer criterios de selección objetiva del léxico para el diseño de materiales didácticos de español como lengua extranjera y segunda lengua (ELE/L2). Los resultados muestran que los tipos de alimentos más estereotipados son frutas (21; 18,8 %), platos (21; 18,8 %), amasijos (15; 13,4 %) y lácteos (13; 11,6 %); que la estructura sintáctica más frecuente es «más ADJ que X» (78; 73,6 %); que la mayoría de las comparaciones pertenecen al español de Colombia; y que las características más intensificadas son la pesadez/el fastidio, la tacañería, la ordinariez, el sonrojamiento, la vejez/la antigüedad y la soledad. De esta manera, pretendemos ilustrar el uso de corpus en la investigación lingüística y su aplicación en la fraseodidáctica de ELE/L2.

El sector ganadero cárnico bovino de Argentina viene evidenciando diversos cambios en los últimos años. Dos de los más relevantes son el aumento del stock bovino y la disminución en el número de establecimientos productores, lo que podría suponer un proceso de crecimiento de producción con concentración. El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar un análisis sobre la desigualdad y la concentración del ganado y los establecimientos bovinos en las provincias de Argentina en el período 2012-2021. Para esto, se construyeron y obtuvieron los índice GINI e índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman a partir de la estratificación de establecimientos, haciendo un comparativo de la evolución entre los años planteados. Los resultados muestran que existe una buena distribución del stock por estratos, pero comparativamente en los años se dio un aumento en la desigualdad y concentración. En base a estos dos resultados, se pudieron conformar tres grupos de provincias.

Comments generated by users of online music streaming platforms have become an under-researched digital genre. We explore this field by analyzing the intensification devices of comments generated by the Spanish new generation singer Álvaro Soler’s Chinese fans. Based on a corpus composed of 1,646 comments collected from Netease Cloud Music and following a “coding and counting” approach, this article examines the usage of intensification strategies in these reviews and the most emphasized topics. Results from this study will reveal how Chinese fans use this pragmatic strategy to express emotions. In addition, their enthusiasm and interest are not limited to the star, but also extend to some linguistic and sociocultural aspects. This work provides an interesting contribution to the study of intensification, and shows Chinese teenagers’ perception of Spanish popular culture from a particular and innovative perspective. In this paper, a protocol for the analysis of mitigation is presented. Using the latest theoretic and methodological research on mitigation as well as the distinction of neighboring phenomena such as intensification and affiliation, we offer guidelines for the study of mitigation. This tool enables analysts to discern whether an item performs a mitigating function, as well as to carry out a complete analysis of how mitigation is deployed in each given context. After presenting the protocol, its application in different discursive genres and geographical varieties of Spanish is shown, thus proving that this scheme is a useful resource for the study of mitigation. Este trabajo realiza un estudio contrastivo de la mesoconstrucción [ADJ hasta SN{parte del cuerpo}] en español y su equivalente funcional en alemán [ADJ bis PP[N{Körperteil}]], cuyo significado es la intensificación del slot ADJ (calado hasta los huesos, nass in die Knochen) estructuras que desde la fraseología tradicional habían sido relegadas a la periferia atendiendo a su naturaleza productiva y su carácter parcialmente composicional. A partir de una metodología basada en corpus (Sketch Engine), realizamos un estudio holístico interlingüístico de ambas mesoconstrucciones, haciendo hincapié en aspectos formales, semánticos y pragmáticos. De este modo, mostramos, por una parte, las similitudes y las discrepancias que presentan las construcciones desde un punto de vista semántico-pragmático en su contexto de uso, así como las peculiaridades sintácticas que poseen dichas estructuras. Por otra parte, queremos subrayar las preferencias en la actualización del slot somático, así como las preferencias y restricciones del slot adjetivo, haciendo especial atención en la combinabilidad de ambos slots atendiendo a las lenguas involucradas.

"¿Sabes?" and "¿entiendes?" are discourse particles used for contact control that serve a phatic-appellative function, to a greater or lesser extent phatic or appellative, to which a modalizing, intensifying, and occasionally mitigating value is added, either as a primary or subsidiary feature. In their description, the importance of prosody is often emphasized as a determining factor in establishing their function, but there are few studies that comprehensively analyze such prosodic behavior. Our starting hypothesis is that the functional diversity of these markers is associated with their prosodic versatility due, among other factors, to the position they occupy in discourse, following the model of oral discourse units proposed by the Val.Es.Co. Group (Val.Es.Co. Group, 2014). We analyze their prosodic realization to establish trends of regularity that enhance their description: this is a proposal that combines functional, positional, and prosodic criteria. The symbiotic relationship between people and the genus Agave spans millennia and a vast geographical area encompassing Mexico, the southwestern United States, and the Texas borderlands. In the early 1950s, Richard MacNeish's investigations in Tamaulipas yielded evidence of past agave use in the mountains of northeastern Mexico. Excavations in the Ocampo Caves revealed 9,000 years of sporadic occupations by hunter-gatherers, mixed forager-farmers, and finally, periodic visits by residents of nearby agricultural villages. Although these discoveries are incompletely published--and existing publications largely underemphasize the range of utilized wild resources in favor of domesticated maize, beans, and squash--agave is among the wild plant taxa most often mentioned in use throughout the Holocene. Unpublished field notes, curated plant assemblages recovered during MacNeish's excavations, and data from recent archaeological survey complement the published literature to explore the role of this prominent plant in this important archaeological region. En la Cuenca del Salado existe un proceso de intensificación productiva en agricultura y ganadería basado en el alto uso de insumos. Este proceso es más acentuado en productores de tipo empresarial, aunque cuenta con influencia en los productores familiares, los cuales desarrollan tecnologías tradicionales en combinación con las modernas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue comparar la sustentabilidad en sistemas productivos de tipo familiar y empresarial, a partir de indicadores desarrollados para tal fin. Se analizaron seis unidades productivas como estudios de caso, cuatro de ellas correspondientes a productores de tipo familiar y dos a productores empresariales en los que se utilizaron los indicadores previamente construidos. Se concluyó que los sistemas productivos familiares son más sustentables que los empresariales, con diferencias sustanciales en la dimensión ecológica. Esto se asocia a diferentes estilos de manejo, prácticas de bajos insumos y bajo riesgo, basado en ganadería sobre pastizales naturales que desarrollan los productores familiares. En cambio, los productores de tipo empresarial realizan una aplicación más estandarizada del paquete tecnológico del modelo agroindustrial, similar a los utilizados en otras zonas de la región pampeana, con objetivos de alta productividad y consecuencias negativas en la sustentabilidad de los predios.

La construcción [qué + término malsonante] aparece en diferentes contextos discursivos. Puede actuar como enunciado independiente, como variante interjectiva compleja, en intervenciones reactivas, o bien se integra en un enunciado ocupando posiciones periféricas. En este último entorno desarrolla contenidos procedimentales cercanos a los propios de los marcadores discursivos: concretamente, desarrolla un valor reformulativo y otro reconsiderativo en el que añade una antiorientación argumentativa a lo esperado por el oyente. El presente trabajo analiza sus funciones desde una perspectiva lingüístico-pragmática que tiene en cuenta las funciones macrosintácticas de la construcción.

La atenuación y la intensificación tienen un propósito comunicativo y generan un efecto en el lector: la primera funciona como escudo y la segunda se presenta como un hecho creíble (Córdova y Barragán, 2022). El objetivo de la presente investigación fue describir la atenuación y la intensificación en el apartado discusión del artículo científico. La investigación fue no experimental, descriptiva y transversal, con una muestra no probabilística y por conveniencia, que corresponde a cinco discusiones de artículos publicados en la Revista Signos. Los resultados indican que los autores de los artículos prefieren la intensificación, son muy directos al discutir sus resultados; en consecuencia, se impone la figura del yo. Por otra parte, no dejan de lado la atenuación, porque perciben que lo que están por afirmar puede generar reacción o inconformidad en el lector; por ello, disminuye el efecto de lo afirmado. Se concluye que 40 casos hallados corresponden a la intensificación y 34, a la atenuación, lo cual indica que los autores son muy directos al presentar sus resultados en el apartado discusión: buscan ser precisos, claros, objetivos y neutros con sus afirmaciones.

The article analyzes the high productivity of the term "pinga" in Cuban Spanish, documenting 51 units formed from this word. These units have lost the referential meaning of "pinga" as a male sexual organ, but they still maintain their dysphemistic connotation. It is highlighted that machismo in Cuban society has contributed to the productivity of this word, which has acquired multiple meanings within and outside the sexual realm. The construction [qué + swear word] appears in different discursive contexts. It can act as an independent statement, as a complex interjective variant, in reactive interventions, or is integrated within an utterance, occupying peripheral positions. In the latter context, it develops procedural contents similar to those of discourse markers: specifically, it develops a meaning of reformulation and another one of reconsideration, in which it adds an argumentative counterorientation to what is expected by the listener. This paper aims to describe the discursive functions of locution una de. The hypothesis is that this form has been through a grammaticalization process (Traugott, 1995; Company, 2004), so it has been losing clearly grammatical features to start acquiring discursive functions. Examples for this research come from four corpora: la Norma Culta de la Ciudad de México (UNAM, forthcoming), Ameresco (Albelda y Estellés, 2023), PRESSEA (2014-) y el Corpus Sociolingüístico de la Ciudad de México (Martín Butragueño y Lastra, (2011-2015). Results indicate that una de keeps certain features of quantifiers. Still, it also has developed a procedural value that instructs the hearer that the number of elements it introduces exceeds the limit the speaker expects. Finally, it concludes that una de functions as a modal mark that shows the speaker's attitude concerning what was said. Con el objetivo de explorar las causas del éxito invasor de Cynodon dactylon en pastizales intersembrados con leguminosas y fertilizados con fósforo, se evaluó el efecto alelopático de los extractos acuosos de plantas de esta especie invasora —provenientes de un pastizal natural y de un pastizal con intersiembra con leguminosas y fertilización con fósforo— sobre las gramíneas nativas Paspalum notatum y Paspalum dilatatum. Debido a lo observado en pastizales fertilizados, donde la cobertura de C. dactylon aumenta, la de P. notatum decrece y P. dilatatum no es afectado, se esperaba que los aleloquímicos de la invasora provenientes de los pastizales intersembrados y fertilizados afectaran negativamente a P. notatum. Se evaluó el efecto de extractos acuosos de hojas frescas de C. dactylon de un pastizal natural y de un pastizal intersembrado y fertilizado con fósforo sobre la germinación, el crecimiento y el desarrollo de las dos gramíneas nativas. Contrariamente a lo esperado, no se registró un efecto inhibitorio de los tratamientos sobre la germinación y las plantas adultas en otoño, sino un aumento en la germinación de ambas especies regadas con extractos provenientes de pastizal intersembrado y fertilizado. En cambio, en primavera, la respuesta fue neutra. Los resultados no indican que los extractos acuosos de hojas frescas tengan un efecto alelopático que explique el éxito invasor de C. dactylon y el decrecimiento de P. notatum en pastizales fertilizados. Se deben considerar otras aproximaciones para su estudio.

Este trabajo estudia el comportamiento sociopragmático del marcador discursivo bueno, esto es, el empleo del signo atendiendo particularmente a los valores de intensificación y atenuación pragmática que adopta en el español hablado, en relación con factores sociales. El análisis se basa en los datos de dos corpus orales combinados: uno de hablantes vernáculos granadinos y otro de hablantes inmigrantes ecuatorianos. A través de esta investigación se determina la incidencia de factores sociales como el nivel de instrucción, la edad o la procedencia del hablante en los usos (des)corteses del marcador discursivo objeto de estudio. A la luz de los resultados obtenidos, podemos afirmar que en la mitad de los casos en los que los hablantes emplean bueno le atribuyen una función (des)cortés, mayoritariamente, de atenuación; que el empleo (des)cortés de este marcador está asociado a los hablantes vernáculos así como a un mayor grado de instrucción; y que su uso como intensificador es propio de los hablantes del grupo de más edad.

The article is framed in previous studies on oral narratives, specifically, in approaches that conceive conversational activities as a process of (co) construction of the interlocutors (Gülich/ Schöndienst/Surmann; Gülich 2007). I intend to advance in the knowledge of the forms of narrative reconstruction that are used to report cardiac crises, and in the formulation procedures to represent them (Gülich/Kotschi; Brünner/Gülich; Ciapuscio 2003). On the other hand, I study the linguistic resources to verbalize the intensity – mitigation or intensification – of pain and associated symptoms (Mihatsch/Albelda; Albelda/Mihatsch). The exemplary analysis is based on a corpus of six admission interviews between cardiologists and patients, which took place in a public hospital in the Greater Buenos Aires. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is the result of an investigation into the conditions and determinants of teaching at the secondary level in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to analyze how gender, technological, and socio-health inequalities intersect in educational work, in a context marked by the intensification of teaching work and widening social gaps. We considered the period between March 2020 and March 2021, and analyzed the following particularities: official regulations, teachers' working conditions, the composition and social situation of teachers' households, technological resources available, and institutional support that conditioned pedagogical work. We studied the regulations of the period, official statistics, and surveys and open interviews with secondary school teachers in four municipalities, which reflect the heterogeneity of this Argentine province. Among the findings, we emphasize the intensification of the work of teaching during the pandemic and its particular impact on the secondary level, due to the structure of this job position; among female teachers, the situation became more complex due to asymmetry in the distribution of care work. We evaluated the allelopathic effect of the invasive species Cynodon dactylon from a natural grassland and overseeding grassland intersowing with legumes and fertilization with phosphorus, on two native grasses, Paspalum notatum and Paspalum dilatatum. Due to what was observed in fertilized grasslands, where the cover of C. dactylon increases, P. notatum decreases and P. dilatatum is not affected, it was expected that the allelochemicals from the intersowing and fertilized grasslands would have a negative effect on P. notatum. The effect of aqueous extracts of C. dactylon on the germination, growth and development of the two grasses studied. Contrary to our expectations, we could not detect inhibitory effects of the treatments on germination and adult plants in autumn, but an increment of germination of both species irrigated with extracts from intersowing and fertilized grasslands. In contrast, in spring, the responses were neutral. The results obtained do not indicate that aqueous extracts from fresh leaves have an allelopathic effect that explains the invasive success of C. dactylon and the decrease of P. notatum in fertilized grasslands, although other approaches should be considered for its study. Among the tools that serve to the linguistic intensification (phonic, grammatical, and lexical), this article tackles the issue of syntactic mechanisms, specifically the quantifiers tal(es), tan(to/a) (s), which function in intensifying structures with or without a consecutive or comparative clause. The main purpose of this work is to describe the solidarity between syntax and prosody in this kind of constructions, which have a significant role in persuasive texts. The corpus to be analysed consists of speeches in which the argumentative dimension is predominant. We will examine three sessions' records of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, a total amount of 12,5 hours, within the XIV legislature, held on October 13th and 20th and November 10th, 2021. The present work, carried out within the theoretical framework of pragmatic linguistics and macrosyntax (Fuentes Rodríguez 2017a, 2017b [2000]), aims to analyze the concessive constructions of enunciation and their attenuating and intensifying functions in persuasive discourse. These constructions, of peripheral position, act on the speech act and present a dynamic macrosyntactic behavior in the argumentation. They modulate the enunciation and intervene in the speech giving it an expressive nuance: it can soften or reinforce it without affecting its truth. From there we can see the attitude shown by the speaker about his own statement. These constructions allow the speaker to achieve self-protection of the self-image, or to prevent a threat to the participants in the verbal interaction. This is its attenuating effect. On the other hand, the assertion can also be emphasized if in the constructions the speaker resorts to the condition located at the limit of the scale and carries out an evaluation towards reality. And the two communicative strategies have something in common: they are deliberately used by the speaker to persuade his listener more effectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The interjection is considered in some grammars as a class of words, other times it is included among the exclamatory groups. Its macrosyntactic behavior has been scarcely approached despite constituting a broad and dynamic paradigm. The interjection can act as an autonomous modal utterance or be included within the utterance performing various functions. The scope of the affected element in each case differs. This paper analyzes those contexts in which interjective terms with malsonant content develop procedural meanings of argumentative intensification. We describe their syntagmatic distribution, their scope and the constructions they generate. We also delimit whether we are dealing with free or semi-fixed constructions and in which cases we can already speak of grammaticalized discourse operators or those close to fixation. La forma verbal doxástica creo se caracteriza por poder manifestar valores proposicionales, así como otros de carácter modal (Soler 2019, 2021). Son estos últimos la epistemicidad y la opinión. De entre ellos, la bibliografía ha relacionado tradicionalmente el valor de opinión con una función pragmática de refuerzo en contextos confrontacionales y proclives a la aparición de la intensificación, como es el caso de los debates parlamentarios (Simon-Vanderbengen 1998, 2000; Gachet 2009; Fetzer 2014; Fuentes Rodríguez 2015, 2016). Sin embargo, los límites de este dominio aún no han sido explorados convenientemente, con lo que las afirmaciones en torno a su funcionalidad se ven débilmente sustentadas. Esta investigación pretende describir qué ocurre con el valor de opinión de creo en la oralidad en español, más allá del género específico en el que aparezca. Explora un corpus de conversaciones coloquiales con el fin de sistematizar el comportamiento del significado opinativo desde una perspectiva cognitiva, la cual pueda extrapolarse al análisis en otro tipo de contextos. El estudio observa que la construcción de creo determina en más del 20 % de los casos el valor semántico manifestado, mientras que otros aspectos formales explican más del 50 % de sus funciones pragmáticas. Asimismo, la investigación ilustra que la suma de los resultados proporcionados por la observación de la construcción del verbo, el comportamiento del sujeto, la negación, la naturaleza del verbo introducido por creo, su posición y otros aspectos proporciona más información sobre el dominio de la opinión que el género mismo en el que aparece creo.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) is based on the amplification of Raman signals. One of the enhancement mechanisms is explained by the plasmon resonance of metal nanostructures. This work consists of the computational calculation, using Mie theory, of the Local Field Enhancement Factor (LFIEF) and the SERS Enhancement Factor (SERS EF) for an electric dipole signal close to a single metallic nanosphere (NP). Different sizes of silver, gold and aluminum NP suspended in ethanol, N,N-dimethylformamide, and chloroform were analyzed. The results show that the intensification peak agrees with the excitation wavelength for the respective plasmon resonance of each metal. It is evident that the size of the NP influences the magnitude of the intensity obtained; in addition, it is observed that the medium in which they are suspended produces a shift of the intensification peaks. For aluminum NP, an intensification peak around 200 nm suggests its possible use as a base for SERS substrate using ultraviolet excitation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Las excavaciones en el sitio Memorial de la Bandera ubicado en la ciudad de Mendoza, faja central del Centro Oeste Argentino, permitieron recuperar evidencias del asentamiento humano en el piedemonte normendocino. Este sector contaba con escasas referencias arqueológicas debido al amplio desarrollo urbano. En este trabajo se analizan rasgos y materiales, con el objetivo de conocer las características de las ocupaciones y subsistencia en el piedemonte, su cronología y el desarrollo de la tecnología lítica y cerámica. Los fechados indican que el sitio fue ocupado entre ca. 2100 y 1200 años AP y es uno de los más tempranos registrados en el área. Se plantea la estabilidad del asentamiento y el posible cultivo, a partir de la evidencia de casas semisubterráneas, los rasgos de combustión y los restos vegetales. La temprana ocupación de este ambiente se relacionaría con la incorporación de la tecnología cerámica en la región. Su ubicación al costado de un cauce aluvional y la particularidad de los restos arqueofaunísticos y antracológicos, indican la posible existencia de humedales en el pasado. La tecnología lítica y los restos arqueofaunísticos, permiten discutir estas ocupaciones en el marco del proceso de intensificación económica postulado para la región y el Cono Sur.

Este estudio plantea un análisis preliminar de las estrategias de intensificación constatadas en un corpus escrito de 162 cuentos populares occitanos (variedades languedocianas nororientales y sudoccidentales). Aunque, en términos generales, el acervo de recursos disponibles se corresponde con el uso corriente del occitano, la utilización de esos recursos también refleja las circunstancias específicas que condicionan la narración y transmisión (cultural) de los cuentos. La intensificación se utiliza para reforzar tanto la inmersión del público en la narración como la cohesión cultural y social de la comunidad donde se relatan los cuentos.

El objetivo principal de este trabajo consiste en describir por medio de corpus, con una metodología inductiva, la construcción comparativa intensificadora [ser más tonto que X]: ‘ser tonto en grado sumo’, para lo que se tomará como marco teórico la Gramática de Construcciones. En este sentido se realizará un estudio cuantitativo y cualitativo de las actualizaciones léxicas del slot X con el fin de determinar la fijación cognitiva y la productividad de la construcción, así como descubrir posibles rasgos recurrentes en su creatividad. Con esta investigación intentamos demostrar cuán fina es la línea que separa las unidades lexicalizadas de las creativas, con un predominio claro de estas últimas.

Esta investigación presenta un análisis de la intensificación en un corpus de comentarios en español a artículos de prensa digitales sobre la fiesta de Moros y Cristianos, una tradición controvertida en España por el tratamiento de ciertos grupos sociales. Basándose en Albelda y Briz (2020), definimos la intensificación como una estrategia retórico-pragmática de argumentación por la que el hablante refuerza lo dicho y/o su intención para lograr más eficazmente sus metas conversacionales en el discurso. Por eso, este artículo se interesa por las estrategias lingüísticas de intensificación empleadas para posicionarse en estas controversias, tomando en cuenta los contextos comunicativos en los que aparecen, así como las funciones que desempeñan respecto a la argumentación y la imagen. A partir de una metodología adaptada de la metodología desarrollada por Albelda et al. (2014), los resultados muestran que la intensificación aparece principalmente en intervenciones que reaccionan a lo dicho anteriormente de forma general para reforzar la expresión de la postura personal del hablante.
