Kota Lama Semarang, rich in cultural and architectural heritage, is vulnerable to disasters like Rob Floods and rising sea levels due to climate change. This research aims to describe recommended communication strategies for increasing awareness and community involvement in climate change disaster mitigation. Through analysis of the news text, data analysis, and literature review, this study provides valuable insights for stakeholders. The communication strategy utilizes storytelling through social media, awareness campaigns, and educational programs. Effective communication is crucial in facing disasters in Kota Lama Semarang. The recommended strategy emphasizes community-based approaches with active participation. Dialogues with the government, NGOs, and relevant institutions strengthen community adaptation. Challenges include accessibility and technology limitations in the area. Cultural and linguistic diversity should be considered in communication strategies to enhance message reception. Ongoing evaluations are necessary to enhance communication strategy effectiveness. In conclusion, effective communication strategies are vital in addressing climate change disasters in the Kota Lama Semarang. This strategy promotes community awareness, involvement, and adaptation. Challenges such as technology accessibility and cultural diversity should be wisely managed. By overcoming these challenges and conducting continuous evaluations, communication strategies can reduce disaster risks and build community resilience

This article contains the discussion of the history and the preservation of The Old City of Semarang. The Old City was founded at the end of 17th century after an agreement was approved by the Mataram Kingdom and the Vereeniging van Oost-Indische Compagnië (VOC) in 1678. Later on, the colony of VOC developed into a little city surrounded by a fortress in which VOC leaders, its officers, VOC soldiers, European traders resided. Here, some town facilities were built such as municipality house (stadshuis), shops, roads, soldier barracks, warehouses, schools, hospital, church, court, prison, and municipality park. Around the third decade of the 19th century, the fortress of VOC colony was demolished since this city was massively developed. Today, this little city built by VOC is called “Semarang Old City” or “De Oude Stad” (in Dutch), and the municipal government of Semarang is eager to protect and develop this cultural heritage site as a tourism cultural asset due to its unique values and typical cultural attractions. The purpose of this study is to support the Semarang City Government’s plan to propose The Old City of Semarang to UNESCO in order to get recognition as a World Heritage.

Kota Lama Semarang with the Dutch colonial era relics is currently used as a cultural heritage tourist spot. As a cultural heritage tourism place, it is necessarily aware of the potential for earthquake disasters due to active faults and volcanic eruptions, as well as the phenomenon of land subsidence caused by geological conditions of young alluvium. One of the geophysical techniques to determine subsurface structure is microtremor measurement. This study aims to determine vulnerability level based on dominant frequency, amplification, and seismic vulnerability index using HVSR analysis in Kota Lama area. Microtremor data measurement contained 11 points with a data retrieval duration of 30 minutes. The results of microtremor data analysis obtained dominant frequency values of 7.03 - 19.36 Hz, amplification of 0.72 – 3.7, and seismic vulnerability index of 0.074 – 0.95. Based on the parameters, it can be concluded that the Kota Lama Semarang area has a low level of vulnerability.

Kota Lama Semarang merupakan salah satu obyek wisata sejarah yang berada di kota Semarang dan pada tahun 2016 masuk sebagai salah satu nominasi World Heritage Site. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis anomali Bouguer data gaya berat studi kasus di Kawasan Kota Lama Semarang untuk membantu mengidentifikasi struktur bawah permukaan tanah di Kawasan tersebut yang setiap tahunnya selalu terjadi banjir rob, genangan air dan penurunan permukaan tanah. Pengolahan data anomali Bouger menggunakan software Oasis Montaj 6.4.2. Tahap awal dilakukan koreksi pasang surut (TC) dan koreksi apungan (DC). Tahap berikutnya dilakukan koreksi lanjut yang terdiri dari koreksi udara bebas (FAC) dan koreksi Bouguer (BC) hingga didapat kontur anomali udara bebas (FAA) dan kontur anomali Bouguer (BA). Nilai BA di Kawasan Kota Lama Semarang dengan interval 10,58 mGal s.d 11,65 mGal dengan koreksi FAC mempunyai rentang 1,48 mGal s.d 3,09 mGal, anomali FAA mempunyai rentang 11,1 mGal s.d 12,7 mGal serta koreksi gobs mempunyai rentang 978118,88 mGal s.d 978118,50 mGal. Kawasan dengan anomali Bouguer tinggi memiliki struktur batuan dengan densitas yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan Kawasan lainnya. Nilai anomali Bouguer semakin ke utara semakin rendah, dan semakin ke selatan semakin tinggi.

Semarang Old City is located in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. This article contains the discussion on the history of Semarang Old City as the center of global trade activities. This Old City was founded at the end of 17th century after an agreement was approved by the Mataram Kingdom and the Vereeniging van Oost-Indische Compagnië (VOC/The Dutch East Indie Company) in 1678, that led VOC to take control over the north coastal region of Java from the Prince of the Mataram Kingdom, Amangkurat II. Based on this agreement, VOC was given the right to choose the areas near the center of Semarang Regency and Semarang River as its residence in order to easily control the Javanese administration and the Java Sea trading activities. Later on, the colony of the VOC developed into a little city surrounded by a fortress in which the VOC leaders, its officers, and soldiers resided, and some city’s facilities were built such as municipality house (stadshuis), trading offices, shops, roads, soldier barracks, warehouses, schools, hospital, church, court, prison, and residential areas. In the Dutch Colonial era (18th – 20th centuries), this old city become the center of international trade activities in Central Java strengthened by the presence of Semarangs Handels Vereeniging (Association of Traders in Semarang) and Nederlandsche Handels Maatshappij (Dutch Trade Company), which managed the import-export trade.
