In this study, we present MedS-Bench, a comprehensive benchmark designed to evaluate the performance of large language models (LLMs) in clinical contexts. Unlike existing benchmarks that focus on multiple-choice question answering, MedS-Bench spans 11 high-level clinical tasks, including clinical report summarization, treatment recommendations, diagnosis, named entity recognition, and medical concept explanation, among others. We evaluated six leading LLMs, e.g., MEDITRON, Mistral, InternLM 2, Llama 3, GPT-4, and Claude-3.5 using few-shot prompting, and found that even the most sophisticated models struggle with these complex tasks. To address these limitations, we developed MedS-Ins, a large-scale instruction tuning dataset for medicine. MedS-Ins comprises 58 medically oriented language corpora, totaling 13.5 million samples across 122 tasks. To demonstrate the dataset's utility, we conducted a proof-of-concept experiment by performing instruction tuning on a lightweight, open-source medical language model. The resulting model, MMedIns-Llama 3, significantly outperformed existing models across nearly all clinical tasks. To promote further advancements in the application of LLMs to clinical challenges, we have made the MedS-Ins dataset fully accessible and invite the research community to contribute to its expansion.Additionally, we have launched a dynamic leaderboard for MedS-Bench, which we plan to regularly update the test set to track progress and enhance the adaptation of general LLMs to the medical domain. This paper is concerned with a class of linear-quadratic stochastic large-population problems with partial information, where the individual agent only has access to a noisy observation process related to the state. The dynamics of each agent follows a linear stochastic differential equation driven by individual noise, and all agents are coupled together via the control average term. Using the mean-field game approach and the backward separation principle with a state decomposition technique, the decentralized optimal control can be obtained in the open-loop form through a forward-backward stochastic differential equation with the conditional expectation. The optimal filtering equation is also provided. By the decoupling method, the decentralized optimal control can also be further presented as the feedback of state filtering via the Riccati equation. The explicit solution of the control average limit is given, and the consistency condition system is discussed. Moreover, the related $\varepsilon$-Nash equilibrium property is verified. To illustrate the good performance of theoretical results, an example in finance is studied.

We present an all-fiber, fully open Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) cavity that is suitable for fluidic measurement applications. Fabrication of the FPI involves the alignment and bonding of three optical fiber sections using either ceramic glue or low-temperature melting glass. The fabrication procedure allows the protection of the cleaved optical fiber end faces, which serve as the two mirrors of the FPI, from damage, thus ensuring the high visibility of the FPI sensor. The FPI's complete openness permits the analyte of interest fluids to flow smoothly into the cavity and interact directly with the light, obviating the need for additional assistance. The fabrication experiment demonstrates that the fabrication procedure can readily achieve a visibility of over 20 dB. Refractive index testing indicates that the sensor exhibits a sensitivity of over 1116 nm/RIU within the range of 1.334-1.375. A comparison of temperature investigations indicates that the fully open cavity FPI fabricated by bonding with low-temperature melting glass exhibits relatively lower temperature immunity than that bonded with ceramic glue. Both have a relatively low temperature fluctuation within the temperature range of 40{\deg}C-100{\deg}C, with less than 3 nm and 4.5 nm in the over 60{\deg}C changes, respectively. Our proposed fully open FPI is an economical, robust, and simple-to-fabricate structure with the potential for mass production. Electron-positron pair production is investigated in the multiphoton regime under polarized fields. Partial wave analysis can be applied to reveal the momentum spectral structure and identify the positions of valleys/peaks of the multiphoton rings by combining with $CP$ conservation. Moreover, considering the spin states of created pairs in partial wave analysis, the particle orbital angular momentum associated with the valleys/peaks can also be identified from multiphoton rings. It is found that the results for angular distribution by this approximate analytical treatment and by the Dirac-Heisenberg-Wigner formalism are consistent with each other. The present results are helpful for understanding the angular momentum information in momentum spectra, and they also have an implication for revealing the vortex structure near the valleys., Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables

Topological materials are of great interest because they can support metallic edge or surface states that are robust against perturbations, with the potential for technological applications. Here we experimentally explore the light-induced non-equilibrium properties of two distinct topological phases in NaCd4As3: a topological crystalline insulator (TCI) phase and a topological insulator (TI) phase. This material has surface states that are protected by mirror symmetry in the TCI phase at room temperature, while it undergoes a structural phase transition to a TI phase below 200 K. After exciting the TI phase by an ultrafast laser pulse, we observe a leading band edge shift of >150 meV, that slowly builds up and reaches a maximum after ~0.6 ps, and that persists for ~8 ps. The slow rise time of the excited electron population and electron temperature suggests that the electronic and structural orders are strongly coupled in this TI phase. It also suggests that the directly excited electronic states and the probed electronic states are weakly coupled. Both couplings are likely due to a partial relaxation of the lattice distortion, which is known to be associated with the TI phase. In contrast, no distinct excited state is observed in the TCI phase immediately or after photoexcitation, which we attribute to the low density of states and phase space available near the Fermi level. $TbMn_{6}Sn_{6}$ is a ferrimagnetic material which exhibits a highly unusual phase transition near room temperature where spins remain collinear while the total magnetic moment rotates from out-of-plane to in-plane. The mechanisms underlying this phenomenon have been studied in the quasi-static limit and the reorientation has been attributed to the competing anisotropies of Tb and Mn, whose magnetic moments have very different temperature dependencies. In this work, we present the first measurement of the spin-reorientation transition in $TbMn_{6}Sn_{6}$. By probing very small signals with the transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect (TMOKE) at the Mn M-edge, we show that the re-orientation timescale spans from 12 ps to 24 ps, depending on the laser excitation fluence. We then verify these data with a simple model of spin precession with a temperature-dependent magnetocrystalline anisotropy field to show that the spin reorientation timescale is consistent with the reorientation being driven by very large anisotropies energies on approximately $\approx$ meV scales. Promisingly, the model predicts a possibility of 180o reorientation of the out-of-plane moment over a range of excitation fluences. This could facilitate optically controlled magnetization switching between very stable ground states, which could have useful applications in spintronics or data storage.

We propose a new Sauter-like field model with combinatorial multiple potentials consisting of a deep slow-varying and some shallow fast-varying potentials. The dynamically assisted Sauter-Schwinger effect on the pair production is found by using the computational quantum field theory. The enhanced pair production is found to be significant at about one order increasing for multiple potentials rather than single potential. In case of dominated by Schwinger mechanism, the obvious time effect leads to electrons concentrating at the two edges of the potential, meanwhile, the momentum locates at the zero nearby. In contrary, however, for the multiphoton processes, the pair generation makes the electrons distributing outside the potential and the momentum appearing multiple peaks far away from zero and evenly evolving toward a step-like structure. An interesting finding is that the particles of pair produced in the alternating potential has a quasi-monoenergetic structure compared to the oscillating potential well or/and potential barrier, which is helpful to achieve the high quality positron source., Comment: 32 pages, 19 figures

Many multi-dimensional (M-D) graph signals appear in the real world, such as digital images, sensor network measurements and temperature records from weather observation stations. It is a key challenge to design a transform method for processing these graph M-D signals in the linear canonical transform domain. This paper proposes the two-dimensional graph linear canonical transform based on the central discrete dilated Hermite function (2-D CDDHFs-GLCT) and the two-dimensional graph linear canonical transform based on chirp multiplication-chirp convolution-chirp multiplication decomposition (2-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT). Then, extending 2-D CDDHFs-GLCT and 2-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT to M-D CDDHFs-GLCT and M-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT. In terms of the computational complexity, additivity and reversibility, M-D CDDHFs-GLCT and M-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT are compared. Theoretical analysis shows that the computational complexity of M-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT algorithm is obviously reduced. Simulation results indicate that M-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT achieves comparable additivity to M-D CDDHFs-GLCT, while M-D CM-CC-CM-GLCT exhibits better reversibility. Finally, M-D GLCT is applied to data compression to show its application advantages. The graph linear canonical transform (GLCT) is presented as an extension of the graph Fourier transform (GFT) and the graph fractional Fourier transform (GFrFT), offering more flexibility as an effective tool for graph signal processing. In this paper, we introduce a GLCT based on chirp multiplication-chirp convolution-chirp multiplication decomposition (CM-CC-CM-GLCT), which irrelevant to sampling periods and without oversampling operation. Various properties and special cases of the CM-CC-CM-GLCT are derived and discussed. In terms of computational complexity, additivity, and reversibility, we compare the CM-CC-CM-GLCT and the GLCT based on the central discrete dilated Hermite function (CDDHFs-GLCT). Theoretical analysis demonstrates that the computational complexity of the CM-CC-CM-GLCT is significantly reduced. Simulation results indicate that the CM-CC-CM-GLCT achieves similar additivity to the CDDHFs-GLCT. Notably, the CM-CC-CM-GLCT exhibits better reversibility.

While there are numerous works in multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), most of them focus on designing algorithms and proving convergence to a Nash equilibrium (NE) or other equilibrium such as coarse correlated equilibrium. However, NEs can be non-unique and their performance varies drastically. Thus, it is important to design algorithms that converge to Nash equilibrium with better rewards or social welfare. In contrast, classical game theory literature has extensively studied equilibrium selection for multi-agent learning in normal-form games, demonstrating that decentralized learning algorithms can asymptotically converge to potential-maximizing or Pareto-optimal NEs. These insights motivate this paper to investigate equilibrium selection in the MARL setting. We focus on the stochastic game model, leveraging classical equilibrium selection results from normal-form games to propose a unified framework for equilibrium selection in stochastic games. The proposed framework is highly modular and can extend various learning rules and their corresponding equilibrium selection results from normal-form games to the stochastic game setting.

Any-to-any singing voice conversion (SVC) is an interesting audio editing technique, aiming to convert the singing voice of one singer into that of another, given only a few seconds of singing data. However, during the conversion process, the issue of timbre leakage is inevitable: the converted singing voice still sounds like the original singer's voice. To tackle this, we propose a latent diffusion model for SVC (LDM-SVC) in this work, which attempts to perform SVC in the latent space using an LDM. We pretrain a variational autoencoder structure using the noted open-source So-VITS-SVC project based on the VITS framework, which is then used for the LDM training. Besides, we propose a singer guidance training method based on classifier-free guidance to further suppress the timbre of the original singer. This survey explores the geometric perspective on policy optimization within the realm of feedback control systems, emphasizing the intrinsic relationship between control design and optimization. By adopting a geometric viewpoint, we aim to provide a nuanced understanding of how various ``complete parameterization'' -- referring to the policy parameters together with its Riemannian geometry -- of control design problems, influence stability and performance of local search algorithms. The paper is structured to address key themes such as policy parameterization, the topology and geometry of stabilizing policies, and their implications for various (non-convex) dynamic performance measures. We focus on a few iconic control design problems, including the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR), Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control, and $\mathcal{H}_\infty$ control. In particular, we first discuss the topology and Riemannian geometry of stabilizing policies, distinguishing between their static and dynamic realizations. Expanding on this geometric perspective, we then explore structural properties of the aforementioned performance measures and their interplay with the geometry of stabilizing policies in presence of policy constraints; along the way, we address issues such as spurious stationary points, symmetries of dynamic feedback policies, and (non-)smoothness of the corresponding performance measures. We conclude the survey with algorithmic implications of policy optimization in feedback design.

In driving scenarios, automobile active safety systems are increasingly incorporating deep learning technology. These systems typically need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as detecting fatigue driving and recognizing the driver's identity. However, the traditional parallel-style approach of combining multiple single-task models tends to waste resources when dealing with similar tasks. Therefore, we propose a novel tree-style multi-task modeling approach for multi-task learning, which rooted at a shared backbone, more dedicated separate module branches are appended as the model pipeline goes deeper. Following the tree-style approach, we propose a multi-task learning model for simultaneously performing driver fatigue detection and face recognition for identifying a driver. This model shares a common feature extraction backbone module, with further separated feature extraction and classification module branches. The dedicated branches exploit and combine spatial and channel attention mechanisms to generate space-channel fused-attention enhanced features, leading to improved detection performance. As only single-task datasets are available, we introduce techniques including alternating updation and gradient accumulation for training our multi-task model using only the single-task datasets. The effectiveness of our tree-style multi-task learning model is verified through extensive validations.

In recent years, deep learning based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) has achieved remarkable success in many applications. However, their heavy reliance on extensive labeled data and limited generalization ability to unseen classes pose challenges to their suitability for medical image processing tasks. Few-shot learning, which utilizes a small amount of labeled data to generalize to unseen classes, has emerged as a critical research area, attracting substantial attention. Currently, most studies employ a prototype-based approach, in which prototypical networks are used to construct prototypes from the support set, guiding the processing of the query set to obtain the final results. While effective, this approach heavily relies on the support set while neglecting the query set, resulting in notable disparities within the model classes. To mitigate this drawback, we propose a novel Support-Query Prototype Fusion Network (SQPFNet). SQPFNet initially generates several support prototypes for the foreground areas of the support images, thus producing a coarse segmentation mask. Subsequently, a query prototype is constructed based on the coarse segmentation mask, additionally exploiting pattern information in the query set. Thus, SQPFNet constructs high-quality support-query fused prototypes, upon which the query image is segmented to obtain the final refined query mask. The paper introduces a novel autonomous robot ultrasound (US) system targeting liver follow-up scans for outpatients in local communities. Given a computed tomography (CT) image with specific target regions of interest, the proposed system carries out the autonomous follow-up scan in three steps: (i) initial robot contact to surface, (ii) coordinate mapping between CT image and robot, and (iii) target US scan. Utilizing 3D US-CT registration and deep learning-based segmentation networks, we can achieve precise imaging of 3D hepatic veins, facilitating accurate coordinate mapping between CT and the robot. This enables the automatic localization of follow-up targets within the CT image, allowing the robot to navigate precisely to the target's surface. Evaluation of the ultrasound phantom confirms the quality of the US-CT registration and shows the robot reliably locates the targets in repeated trials. The proposed framework holds the potential to significantly reduce time and costs for healthcare providers, clinicians, and follow-up patients, thereby addressing the increasing healthcare burden associated with chronic disease in local communities.

In this paper, we focus on learning a linear time-invariant (LTI) model with low-dimensional latent variables but high-dimensional observations. We provide an algorithm that recovers the high-dimensional features, i.e. column space of the observer, embeds the data into low dimensions and learns the low-dimensional model parameters. Our algorithm enjoys a sample complexity guarantee of order $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(n/\epsilon^2)$, where $n$ is the observation dimension. We further establish a fundamental lower bound indicating this complexity bound is optimal up to logarithmic factors and dimension-independent constants. We show that this inevitable linear factor of $n$ is due to the learning error of the observer's column space in the presence of high-dimensional noises. Extending our results, we consider a meta-learning problem inspired by various real-world applications, where the observer column space can be collectively learned from datasets of multiple LTI systems. An end-to-end algorithm is then proposed, facilitating learning LTI systems from a meta-dataset which breaks the sample complexity lower bound in certain scenarios.

The pursuit of robustness has recently been a popular topic in reinforcement learning (RL) research, yet the existing methods generally suffer from efficiency issues that obstruct their real-world implementation. In this paper, we introduce duple perturbation robustness, i.e. perturbation on both the feature and factor vectors for low-rank Markov decision processes (MDPs), via a novel characterization of $(\xi,\eta)$-ambiguity sets. The novel robust MDP formulation is compatible with the function representation view, and therefore, is naturally applicable to practical RL problems with large or even continuous state-action spaces. Meanwhile, it also gives rise to a provably efficient and practical algorithm with theoretical convergence rate guarantee. This paper studies the multi-agent coverage control (MAC) problem where agents must dynamically learn an unknown density function while performing coverage tasks. Unlike many current theoretical frameworks that concentrate solely on the regret occurring at specific targeted sensory locations, our approach additionally considers the regret caused by transient behavior - the path from one location and another. We propose the multi-agent coverage control with the doubling trick (MAC-DT) algorithm and demonstrate that it achieves (approximated) regret of $\widetilde{O}(\sqrt{T})$ even when accounting for the transient behavior. Our result is also supported by numerical experiments, showcasing that the proposed algorithm manages to match or even outperform the baseline algorithms in simulation environments. We study sim-to-real skill transfer and discovery in the context of robotics control using representation learning. We draw inspiration from spectral decomposition of Markov decision processes. The spectral decomposition brings about representation that can linearly represent the state-action value function induced by any policies, thus can be regarded as skills. The skill representations are transferable across arbitrary tasks with the same transition dynamics. Moreover, to handle the sim-to-real gap in the dynamics, we propose a skill discovery algorithm that learns new skills caused by the sim-to-real gap from real-world data. We promote the discovery of new skills by enforcing orthogonal constraints between the skills to learn and the skills from simulators, and then synthesize the policy using the enlarged skill sets. We demonstrate our methodology by transferring quadrotor controllers from simulators to Crazyflie 2.1 quadrotors. We show that we can learn the skill representations from a single simulator task and transfer these to multiple different real-world tasks including hovering, taking off, landing and trajectory tracking. Our skill discovery approach helps narrow the sim-to-real gap and improve the real-world controller performance by up to 30.2%., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures. We consider the problem of finding plausible knowledge that is missing from a given ontology, as a generalisation of the well-studied taxonomy expansion task. One line of work treats this task as a Natural Language Inference (NLI) problem, thus relying on the knowledge captured by language models to identify the missing knowledge. Another line of work uses concept embeddings to identify what different concepts have in common, taking inspiration from cognitive models for category based induction. These two approaches are intuitively complementary, but their effectiveness has not yet been compared. In this paper, we introduce a benchmark for evaluating ontology completion methods and thoroughly analyse the strengths and weaknesses of both approaches. We find that both approaches are indeed complementary, with hybrid strategies achieving the best overall results. We also find that the task is highly challenging for Large Language Models, even after fine-tuning.

Concept embeddings offer a practical and efficient mechanism for injecting commonsense knowledge into downstream tasks. Their core purpose is often not to predict the commonsense properties of concepts themselves, but rather to identify commonalities, i.e.\ sets of concepts which share some property of interest. Such commonalities are the basis for inductive generalisation, hence high-quality concept embeddings can make learning easier and more robust. Unfortunately, standard embeddings primarily reflect basic taxonomic categories, making them unsuitable for finding commonalities that refer to more specific aspects (e.g.\ the colour of objects or the materials they are made of). In this paper, we address this limitation by explicitly modelling the different facets of interest when learning concept embeddings. We show that this leads to embeddings which capture a more diverse range of commonsense properties, and consistently improves results in downstream tasks such as ultra-fine entity typing and ontology completion.

Aggregate peak Electric Vehicle (EV) charging demand is a matter of growing concern for network operators as it severely limits the network's capacity, preventing its reliable operation. Various tariff schemes have been proposed to limit peak demand by incentivizing flexible asset users to shift their demand from peak periods. However, fewer studies quantify the effect of these tariff schemes on the aggregate level. In this paper, we compare the effect of a multi-level segmented network tariff with and without dynamic energy prices for individual EV users on the aggregate peak demand. Results based on real charging transactions from over 1200 public charging points in the Netherlands show that the segmented network tariff with flat energy prices results in more diverse load profiles with increasing aggregation, as compared to cost-optimized dispatch based on only dynamic day-ahead energy prices. When paired with dynamic energy prices, the segmented tariff still outperforms only dynamic energy price-based tariffs in reducing peaks. Results show that a balance between power thresholds and price per threshold is crucial in designing a suitable tariff, taking into account the needs of the power network. Large Language Models (LLMs) as chatbots have drawn remarkable attention thanks to their versatile capability in natural language processing as well as in a wide range of tasks. While there has been great enthusiasm towards adopting such foundational model-based artificial intelligence tools in all sectors possible, the capabilities and limitations of such LLMs in improving the operation of the electric energy sector need to be explored, and this article identifies fruitful directions in this regard. Key future research directions include data collection systems for fine-tuning LLMs, embedding power system-specific tools in the LLMs, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG)-based knowledge pool to improve the quality of LLM responses and LLMs in safety-critical use cases.

Personal digital data is a critical asset, and governments worldwide have enforced laws and regulations to protect data privacy. Data users have been endowed with the right to be forgotten of their data. In the course of machine learning (ML), the forgotten right requires a model provider to delete user data and its subsequent impact on ML models upon user requests. Machine unlearning emerges to address this, which has garnered ever-increasing attention from both industry and academia. While the area has developed rapidly, there is a lack of comprehensive surveys to capture the latest advancements. Recognizing this shortage, we conduct an extensive exploration to map the landscape of machine unlearning including the (fine-grained) taxonomy of unlearning algorithms under centralized and distributed settings, debate on approximate unlearning, verification and evaluation metrics, challenges and solutions for unlearning under different applications, as well as attacks targeting machine unlearning. The survey concludes by outlining potential directions for future research, hoping to serve as a guide for interested scholars.

This study aimed to develop a deep learning model for the classification of bearing faults in wind turbine generators from acoustic signals. A convolutional LSTM model was successfully constructed and trained by using audio data from five predefined fault types for both training and validation. To create the dataset, raw audio signal data was collected and processed in frames to capture time and frequency domain information. The model exhibited outstanding accuracy on training samples and demonstrated excellent generalization ability during validation, indicating its proficiency of generalization capability. On the test samples, the model achieved remarkable classification performance, with an overall accuracy exceeding 99.5%, and a false positive rate of less than 1% for normal status. The findings of this study provide essential support for the diagnosis and maintenance of bearing faults in wind turbine generators, with the potential to enhance the reliability and efficiency of wind power generation.

This paper presents a new approach for batch Bayesian Optimization (BO) called Thompson Sampling-Regret to Sigma Ratio directed sampling (TS-RSR), where we sample a new batch of actions by minimizing a Thompson Sampling approximation of a regret to uncertainty ratio. Our sampling objective is able to coordinate the actions chosen in each batch in a way that minimizes redundancy between points whilst focusing on points with high predictive means or high uncertainty. Theoretically, we provide rigorous convergence guarantees on our algorithm's regret, and numerically, we demonstrate that our method attains state-of-the-art performance on a range of challenging synthetic and realistic test functions, where it outperforms several competitive benchmark batch BO algorithms., Comment: Revised presentation and organization of theoretical results

Spin effect on the pair production under circularly polarized fields are investigated. Significantly different from what momentum spirals caused by two counter-rotating fields with a time delay, we find for the first time that the spirals can also be induced due to the particles spin effect even if in a single field. We further examine the bichromatic combinational fields, the inhomogeneous spiral structures can be observed in the momentum spectrum, in particular, the spiral not only does exist in two cases of spin but also is about two orders of magnitude amplifier than that in the single field. Meanwhile, the spin asymmetry degree on the momentum distributions is investigated and found that there exist the effect of spin flip with increasing time delay between two fields. The spin asymmetry degree on the number density can reach to $98\%$ in a certain of condition. In the paper, we discuss the possible interpretation of the $J^P=1/2^-$ singly charm pentaquark as hadronic molecules. With the effective Lagrangian method, we further analyze the production properties of singly charm pentaquark from decays of $B$ meson, including strong coupling constants and production branching ratios of the charm pentaquark. We investigate the effects of the asymmetric pulse shapes on electron-positron pair production in three distinct fields: chirp-free, small frequency chirp, and large frequency chirp fields via the real-time Dirac-Heisenberg-Wigner formalism. Our findings reveal the disappearance of interference effects with shorter falling pulse length, and the peak is concentrated on the left side of the momentum spectrum. As the falling pulse length extends, an incomplete multi-ring structure appears in the momentum spectrum. The number density of particles are very sensitive to the asymmetry of the pulse. With a long falling pulse, the number density can be significantly enhanced by over four orders of magnitude when certain frequency chirps are utilized. These results highlight the impact of the effective dynamically assisted mechanism and the frequency chirp on pair creation., Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) facilitates the extraction of unpredictable channel features for physical layer key generation (PKG), securing communications among legitimate users with symmetric keys. Previous works have demonstrated that channel reciprocity plays a crucial role in generating symmetric keys in PKG systems, whereas, in reality, reciprocity is greatly affected by hardware interference and RIS-based jamming attacks. This motivates us to propose LoCKey, a novel approach that aims to improve channel reciprocity by mitigating interferences and attacks with a loop-back compensation scheme, thus maximizing the secrecy performance of the PKG system. Specifically, our proposed LoCKey is capable of effectively compensating for the CSI non-reciprocity by the combination of transmit-back signal value and error minimization module. Firstly, we introduce the entire flowchart of our method and provide an in-depth discussion of each step. Following that, we delve into a theoretical analysis of the performance optimizations when our LoCKey is applied for CSI reciprocity enhancement. Finally, we conduct experiments to verify the effectiveness of the proposed LoCKey in improving channel reciprocity under various interferences for RIS-assisted wireless communications. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in both the rate of key generation assisted by the RIS and the consistency of the generated keys, showing great potential for the practical deployment of our LoCKey in future wireless systems., Comment: Accepted by ICC 2024

Distributed optimal control is known to be challenging and can become intractable even for linear-quadratic regulator problems. In this work, we study a special class of such problems where distributed state feedback controllers can give near-optimal performance. More specifically, we consider networked linear-quadratic controllers with decoupled costs and spatially exponentially decaying dynamics. We aim to exploit the structure in the problem to design a scalable reinforcement learning algorithm for learning a distributed controller. Recent work has shown that the optimal controller can be well approximated only using information from a $\kappa$-neighborhood of each agent. Motivated by these results, we show that similar results hold for the agents' individual value and Q-functions. We continue by designing an algorithm, based on the actor-critic framework, to learn distributed controllers only using local information. Specifically, the Q-function is estimated by modifying the Least Squares Temporal Difference for Q-functions method to only use local information. The algorithm then updates the policy using gradient descent. Finally, we evaluate the algorithm through simulations that indeed suggest near-optimal performance., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Ferroelectric materials with switchable electric polarization hold great promise for a plethora of emergent applications, such as post-Moore's law nanoelectronics, beyond-Boltzmann transistors, non-volatile memories, and above-bandgap photovoltaic devices. Recent advances have uncovered an exotic sliding ferroelectric mechanism, which endows to design atomically thin ferroelectrics from non-ferroelectric parent monolayers. Although notable progress has been witnessed in understanding its fundamental properties, functional devices based on sliding ferroelectrics, the key touchstone toward applications, remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate the rewritable, non-volatile memory devices at room-temperature utilizing a two-dimensional (2D) sliding ferroelectric semiconductor of rhombohedral-stacked bilayer molybdenum disulfide. The 2D sliding ferroelectric memories (SFeMs) show superior performances with a large memory window of >8V, a high conductance ratio of above 106, a long retention time of >10 years, and a programming endurance greater than 104 cycles. Remarkably, flexible SFeMs are achieved with state-of-the-art performances competitive to their rigid counterparts and maintain their performances post bending over 103 cycles. Furthermore, synapse-specific Hebbian forms of plasticity and image recognition with a high accuracy of 97.81% are demonstrated based on flexible SFeMs. Our work demonstrates the sliding ferroelectric memories and synaptic plasticity on both rigid and flexible substrates, highlighting the great potential of sliding ferroelectrics for emerging technological applications in brain-inspired in-memory computing, edge intelligence and energy-efficient wearable electronics., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures

In this paper, we formulate the multi-agent graph bandit problem as a multi-agent extension of the graph bandit problem introduced by Zhang, Johansson, and Li [CISS 57, 1-6 (2023)]. In our formulation, $N$ cooperative agents travel on a connected graph $G$ with $K$ nodes. Upon arrival at each node, agents observe a random reward drawn from a node-dependent probability distribution. The reward of the system is modeled as a weighted sum of the rewards the agents observe, where the weights capture some transformation of the reward associated with multiple agents sampling the same node at the same time. We propose an Upper Confidence Bound (UCB)-based learning algorithm, Multi-G-UCB, and prove that its expected regret over $T$ steps is bounded by $O(\gamma N\log(T)[\sqrt{KT} + DK])$, where $D$ is the diameter of graph $G$ and $\gamma$ a boundedness parameter associated with the weight functions. Lastly, we numerically test our algorithm by comparing it to alternative methods.
