International audience; Situational Method Engineering aims at constructing methods adapted to a given situation, either by a construction from a set of predefined method components or by a customization of an existing method using different techniques: configuration, extension, reduction, and so on. However, these techniques are still limited in practice, as considered complicated and heavy to implement. In this paper, we describe two practitioner experiences (a development and research company and a travel company) of the progressive integration of agile method components instead of the one-time implementation. We present in this paper the gradual integration processes in two cases and we analyze the results of these experiments.; L'ingénierie des méthodes situationnelles cherche à construire des méthodes adaptées à une situation donnée, soit par construction à partir de composants de méthodes déjà définis, soit par l'adaptation d'une méthode existante (en utilisant diverses techniques : configuration, extension, réduction, etc.). Cependant, ces techniques sont peu utilisées dans l'industrie car elles sont considérées comme compliquées et très lourdes à implémenter. Dans cet article, nous décrivons deux expériences pratiques (dans une entreprise de développement et de recherche et une entreprise du secteur touristique) d'intégration progressive des composants de méthodes agiles au lieu d'une mise en place en une fois. Les deux cas ont été sélectionnés pour l'étude car ils possédaient une caractéristique en commun, à savoir le rejet de la mise en place des méthodes agiles. Nous présentons dans cet article les étapes d'intégration progressive dans les deux cas et analysons les résultats de ces expériences.

In this paper, we describe a practitioner experience of a gradual integration of different method components (issued from agile methods of software development). In a real case of a development company, we have practiced and observed the progressive introduction of agile method components instead of the construction or customization of methods in one go. We discuss the lessons learned from this experience and define different research perspectives.

International audience; A method defines a systematic process for problem solving including the required aids and resources. This paper aims at contributing to the area of method development and in particular to practices and experiences in this field by reporting on a case from conceptual modelling and reflecting on lessons learned in it. The contributions of the paper are (1) an application case from method development in a distributed team, (2) the actual method development process integrating work procedure, cooperation principles and notation, and (3) experiences and lessons learned from developing a method component for context modeling.

The situational method engineering (SME) literature is surveyed and a synoptic evaluation presented in the context of formalizing and regularizing the conceptual framework and underpinning theory. Metamodels proposed for use in SME are evaluated as well as highlevel process models for method construction. Method fragments and method chunks are then described formally followed by their identification and creation (from existing methods, from scratch or from past usage). Method creation is then analyzed in terms of various processes for constructing a full methodology from the method fragments/chunks. In particular, we contrast the use of the "map" technique and of the "deontic matrix" technique. The survey is concluded with an evaluation of some ideas on method tailoring and the emerging research on quality evaluation applied to SME. © J.UCS.

International audience; The work presented in this paper is related to the area of situational method engineering (SME). In this domain, approaches are developed accordingly to specific project specifications. We propose to adapt an existing method construction process, namely the assembly-based one. One of the particular features of assembly-based SME approach is the selection of method chunks. Our proposal is to offer a better guidance in the retrieval of chunks by the introduction of multicriteria techniques. To use them efficiently, we defined a typology of projects characteristics, in order to identify all their critical aspects, which will offer a priorisation to help the method engineer in the choice between similar chunks.

International audience; The work presented in this paper is related to the area of Situational Method Engineering (SME) which focuses on project-specific method construction. We propose a faceted framework to understand and classify issues in system development SME. The framework identifies four different but complementary viewpoints. Each view allows us to capture a particular aspect of situational methods. Inter-relationships between these views show how they influence each other. In order to study, understand and classify a particular view of SME in its diversity, we associate a set of facets with each view. As a facet allows an in-depth description of one specific aspect of SME, the views show the variety and diversity of these aspects.
