Abstract Introduction Mental disorders are among the most prevalent health problems of the adult population in the world. This study aimed to identify the subgroups of staff based on mental disorders and assess the independent role of metabolic syndrome (MetS) on the membership of participants in each latent class. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted among 694 staff of a military unit in Tehran in 2017. All staff of this military unit was invited to participate in this study. The collected data included demographic characteristics, anthropometric measures, blood pressure, biochemical parameters, and mental disorders. We performed latent class analysis using a procedure for latent class analysis (PROC LCA) in SAS to identify class membership of mental disorders using Symptom Checklist-90. Results Three latent classes were identified as healthy (92.7%), mild (4.9%), and severe (2.4%) mental disorders. Having higher age significantly decreased the odds of belonging to the mild class (adjusted OR (aOR = 0.21; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.05–0.83) compared to the healthy class. Also, obesity decreased the odds of membership in mild class (aOR = 0.10, 95% CI: 0.01–0.92) compared to healthy class. On the other hand, being female increased the odds of being in severe class (aOR = 9.76; 95% CI: 1.35–70.65) class in comparison to healthy class. Conclusion This study revealed that 7.3% of staff fell under mild and severe classes. Considering educational workshops in the workplace about mental disorders could be effective in enhancing staff’s knowledge of these disorders. Also, treatment of comorbid mental disorders may help reduce their prevalence and comorbidity.

Introduction. Modern Russian Cossacks, having undergone the process of revival and institutionalization, are now incorporated into the system of state and other services of the Russian Federation. Given the pre-revolutionary status of the Cossacks as a military class of the Russian Empire, Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, beginning from the 1990s, has a particular interest in attracting the descendants of the Cossacks and members of Cossack societies to military service. Methods. Through the institutional analysis, the study assesses the role of the Cossacks in military service and security in the South of Russia. Analysis. In order to incorporate the Cossacks into the system of military service in the Russian Federation, a number of normative legal acts have been adopted that allow the Cossacks to serve in Cossack units with traditional Cossack names, to use Cossack insignia on military uniforms. As part of the implementation of the Strategy of the state policy of the Russian Federation in relation to the Russian Cossacks until 2020, regional plans for its implementation, Cossack societies are actively involved in the preparation of pre-conscription youth, interact with military commissariats. Recently, pilot projects have been launched to create specialized Cossack territorial defense companies. At a high level, the participation of the Cossacks in ensuring public order during important international events has been evaluated: the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, the World Cup 2018. Results. The need to expand the participation of the Cossacks in the military service of the Russian Federation by increasing the number of territorial defense companies, opening Cossack cadet corps, forming the role of the Cossacks as a guarantor of stabilization of interethnic relations of the South of Russia.

This paper addresses the Castilian lanza, making a proposal on its origin, and reveals our stance on an underlying issue regarding this topic: it has been discussed by many Historians from different perspectives that, far from removing all doubt, have generated some confusion. One of these is the time frame. While the available data allow to determine a specific point in time for the emergence of the lanza in Castile, some authors have formulated different hypotheses as a result of either tracking semantic records in all kinds of texts -mainly literary-or following evidence in a military-organizational context. This paper presents the results of a survey conducted among residents of municipalities. Respondents expressed their opinion on selected aspects of the impact of the military unit located in their municipalities on the socio-economic situation. В статье приведены взгляды авторов на оценку целесообразности принятия решений на создание или переформирование существующего воинского подразделения на основе рассчитанного показателя стоимости жизненного цикла этого подразделения. Оценивание целесообразности принятия решения осуществляется по двум критериям, то есть решается двухкритериальная задача. Эти критерии должны отвечать таким требованиям: критерий показателя военного эффекта, который должен содержать в себе количественную оценку военного эффекта при создании или переформировки воинского подразделения, с учетом его целевого назначения. Оценка должна отображать требования к конечному целевому назначению воинского подразделения.
