The article discusses the challenges faced in efforts to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, access, and social justice (EDIASJ) in the United States, particularly in academia. The authors propose the adoption of a critical race theory (CRT) framework in library and information science (LIS) to address these issues. They introduce the concept of InfoCrit, which adapts CRT principles to the information professions, aiming to break cycles of exclusion, discrimination, misrepresentation, and misappropriation. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding CRT and its principles, and presents propositions for implementing InfoCrit in the information professions. The authors also highlight the need for concrete actions, such as hiring more information professionals of color, combating racism in everyday practices, engaging with minoritized communities, and promoting a well-rounded LIS education centered on CRT curriculum. The article concludes by presenting a special issue that explores applications of CRT in LIS and calls for lasting and substantive equitable change in the profession. [Extracted from the article]
