Introduction/Aim. Seminal fluid analysis (SFA) plays a crucial role in helping infertility clinics diagnose the underlying reason of male infertility. The aim of the study was to investigate seminal fluid patterns of male partners of an infertile couple with apparently fertile female partners. Materials and A cross-sectional study was conducted between January 2019 and December 2022. Patients were attending consultations for delayed conception for more than 12 months with apparently fertile female partner. Results. Four hundred fifty-three patients were included in the study. The distribution of patients according to age groups showed that 277 patients were young, aged 21 - 30 years (61%). Two hundred sixtytwo (58%) patients complained of infertility for 12 - 24 months duration. Four hundred twenty-nine (94.7%) patients had normal semen volume. In terms of sperm count, 174 patients had below the normal sperm count. Sperm concentrations also showed a great decline with advancing age. Motility parameters were shown to be poor. Sperm morphology findings were relatively good. Results of the current study reflects the impact of infertility on young age groups (21-30 years) as 277 (61%) cases of infertility manifests in this age. One hundred fifty-eight (34.8%) patients were suffering from low sperm count which tend to get lower with increasing age. Motility is known to have a stronger impact on fertility rate compared to morphology. Conclusion. Low motility is caused by several factors which are highly prevalent in society as compared to abnormal morphology factors, including: smoking, drinking alcohol, low exercise, stress, obesity, while morphology on the other hand is affected by other factors which are less prevalent in society. Konstrukt turizma je prelomna oblika kapitalistične produkcije prostora, ki ustvarja nove urbane oblike. V številnih arhitekturnih in morfoloških študijah so analizirali različne modele, manjkajo pa primerjave njihovih značilnosti. Avtorji so v članku primerjali štiri vrste turizma, povezane z razvojem kapitalizma (vključno s predfordizmom, fordizmom in postfordizmom), in različne vrste turističnih mest. V povezavi z gospodarskimi, socialnimi in kulturnimi značilnostmi so analizirali njihovo arhitekturno ikoničnost, morfološke vzorce in prostorsko metriko. Izsledki kažejo, da predfordistični in fordistični konstrukti turizma, za katere je značilna visoka gostota zazidave, spodbujajo družbene odnose in povečujejo sposobnost ustvarjanja mesta, postfordistični konstrukti turizma z nizko gostoto zazidave pa povzročajo višje okoljske stroške (porast zasebnih zelenih in vodnih površin) in višje družbene stroške zaradi arhitekturne ikoničnosti. Avtorji so proučevali povezavo med arhitekturnimi in urbanističnimi spremenljivkami, ki bi jih bilo treba upoštevati pri načrtovanju turističnih destinacij v okviru kapitalistične produkcije turističnega prostora.

A biometric analysis was performed on a sample of 420 specimens of the blackspot seabream, Pagellus bogaraveo (Brunnich, 1769), from the eastern Adriatic Sea. The total length of all specimens ranged from 9.2 to 47.8 cm (23.70 ± 7.63 cm). Eighteen morphometric and eight meristic characteristics were determined. There were no statistically significant differences between the sexes in the morphometric and meristic characteristics of the blackspot seabream in the Adriatic Sea. Regarding meristic characteristics, there are no significant morphological differences between the blackspot seabream population in the Adriatic Sea and that in other areas of the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Relative growth was studied by comparing changes in morphological characteristics with growth in total length and head length. The results indicate the presence of a single population of P. bogaraveo in the Adriatic Sea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

U radu se donosi analiza imenica a-vrste muškoga roda u govorima Makarskoga primorja i Neretvanske doline. Svi govori Makarskoga primorja spadaju u novoštokavski ikavski dijalekt, kao i dio govora Neretvanske doline, dok je drugi dio neretvanskih govora dijelom istočnohercegovačkoga dijalekta. U morfološkome smislu govore Makarskoga primorja i dijela novoštokavskih govora Neretvanske doline povezuje prevlast kratke množine imenica muškoga roda u odnosu na dugu koja prevladava u istočnohercegovačkim govorima Neretvanske doline. Na doticaju tih dviju skupina govora nalaze se govori koji imaju mješovite oblike, i dugu i kratku množinu. Takva je raspodjela i u distribuciji nastavka u I jd. m. r. te u DLI množine m. r. Naglasna analiza pokazuje da n. p. A nije podložna sinkronijskim međuparadigmatskim utjecajima. N. p. B nije izmijenjena kroz cijelu paradigmu u svim govorima u kojima pos- toji kratka množina. U slivanjsko-zažapskim govorima imenice a-vrste uglavnom imaju dugu množinu koju ujednačavaju prema n. p. A. Takva promjena nije zabilježena u govorima Makarskoga primorja. Izrazito očuvanje n. p. C značajka je govora istočnohercegovačkoga dijalekta, napose zažapskih govora, gdje je živa razlika D i L jd. te pomičnost cijele paradigme. U ostalim su neretvanskim govorima inovacija fakultativne paradigme (n. p. C/A) ili miješane paradigme (n. p. C-A), koje su uglavnom potvrđene u govorima Makarskoga primorja.

Brojevi kao vrsta riječi svojstveni su gramatičkomu opisu kajkavskoga narječja prema jezičnoj uporabi u pojedinim mjesnim govorima. U radu se analiziraju temeljna morfološka obilježja brojeva na odabranom korpusu objavljenih rječnika kajkavskih govora prema natuknicama, gramatičkim odrednicama vrste riječi, potvrđenim morfološkim oblicima, značenjima i navedenim oprimjerenjima značenja u rječničkim člancima. Predmet su analize glavni broj jedan i redni broj drugi u kontekstu brojeva i pridjeva.

Many of the species belonging to the Lamiaceae family are considered aromatic plants due to the presence of glandular trichomes, which have a distinct ability to synthesize, secrete or store large amounts of specialized metabolites that play a crucial role in mediating the plant–environment interactions. These compounds often have marked bioactive properties, rendering a commercial value to the plants that produce them. A number of biological effects have been associated with the main monoterpenoids detected in investigated Micromeria spp. and Clinopodium spp. essential oils. One alternative for the production of these bioactive metabolites is in vitro plant tissue culture. The present study was initiated to investigate the effects of in vitro culture on the secretion of leaf glandular trichomes, the main structures involved in the essential oil production. The glandular indumentum was studied by means of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy in an attempt to correlate the phytochemical traits with the glandular trichome morphotypes of selected Lamiaceae species. The strong influence of globalization and the development of media have left their marks on language. Today, we are witnessing a growing influence of the English language, which has become a language of mutual understanding or lingua franca of the 21st century. Due to such global impact of English, not only does contact lin)guistics deal with linguistic changes, but it also deals with cultural and sociolinguistic issues as well. This paper deals with the morphological changes of Anglicisms found in two types of Croatian newspapers and it primarily relies on the theory and practice that Rudolf Filipović presented in several of his works. Rudolf Filipović was one of the most famous Croatian linguists, who set the grounds of contact linguistics in the Croatian language. In accordance with the theory of languages in contact, three different types of transmorphemization are recognized: zero transmorphemization, compromise transmorphemization, and complete transmorphemization. The author of this paper hypothesizes that Anglicisms in the Croatian language used in media, in this case in newspapers, went through one or more stages of transmorphemization before being adopted into the borrowing language, for which purpose two types of Croatian newspapers are used as the corpus for the analysis: daily newspaper Dnevni list and political magazine Hrvatski tjednik. Late blight, a disease caused by oomycota, Phytophthora infestans, is a greater threat to the potato crop than any other disease in Mauritius. This disease remains the most challenging to manage once symptoms have appeared, thus requiring rapid detection for effective disease management. The aim of this study was to compare different methods for early detection of the causal agent of potato late blight. Conventional culture-based methods involved the direct isolation of P. infestans from infected leaves on Carrot Piece Agar (CPA), Carrot Sucrose Agar (CSA), Commercial Potato Dextrose Agar (CPDA), Fresh Potato Dextrose Agar (FPDA-1 and FPDA-2), Oatmeal Agar (OMA), Pea Sucrose Agar (PSA) and Water Agar (WA) without antibiotic supplementation. Mycelial growth on agar was subsequently identified using molecular techniques. A culture-independent method was also attempted whereby total genomic DNA was directly extracted from symptomatic leaves with mycelial growth followed by PCR amplification with ITS5/ITS4 primers and sequencing. The different media ranked in the following decreasing order of performance: PSA >>> CSA ~ FPDA-1 > CPA ~ CPDA ~ OMA, with growth appearing on PSA within 7 days without contamination. DNA sequencing confirmed the identity of the agent recovered from PSA and from diseased leaves to be P. infestans. Findings of this study point to an optimum nutritive medium for recovering and culturing P. infestans from leaves with foliar blight without the use of antibiotics. The mandible and the cranium are integrated by a unique joint juncture which is a special structure in the human body for most of its characteristics. From the other joints, it differs in morphology, the potential of the variability of all of the structures related to the joint, special functions, vast freedom of movement, and the close relationship between the joint and vital organs. Articular surfaces are covered by a special type of fibrous tissue which consists of four different zones: the articular zone, the zone of the fibrous cartilage, and the zone of the calcified cartilage. The fibrous capsule of the joint is covered by the synovial membrane. The inside of the joint cavity is filled by the synovial fluid that serves as the metabolic medium and ensures lubrication. The articular disc inserted between the articular surfaces has a complex structure and very important roles ensuring the vast mobility of the joint and the physiological pressure transfer. It divides the joint into two different portions that serve as a uniform functional unit. Morphologically it has a biconcave shape and can be divided into three portions. The intermedial zone is the thinnest, while the posterior, bilaminar, zone has the most complex structure containing the well vascularised retrodiscal tissue between its laminae. Disc constantly changes its shape according to the new configuration inside of the joint which is ensured by a specific alignment of the collagen fibers but also the presence of elastic and oxytalan fibers. The first record of Gobius incognitus Kovačić & Šanda, 2016 was reported from Malta. Two specimens were collected at the island of Gozo and stored as unidentified in 2012, several years before the description of Gobius incognitus. A decade later the material was finally identified based on morphology and coloration pattern of preserved specimens. In this study, we examined the morphological, chemical, and structural details of tetrahedral pyrite crystals from the Jean Baptiste mine in Lavrion, Greece. Pyrite occurs in three generations. Tetrahedral crystals of the first generation are left- or right-handed with the lowest cubic 23 symmetry. In this generation, there are twins with higher cubic m3 and hexagonal 6 symmetry. All crystals of the second generation are primarily interpenetrated into twins with a cubic 4m3 symmetry. Some, however, continue to twin up to crystals with the highest cubic m3m and hexagonal 6mm symmetry. Third-generation crystals overgrow second-generation crystals in a non-oriented manner. Chemical analysis confirms chemically pure pyrite, and single-crystal X-ray analysis of the first- and the second-generation crystals confirms the pyrite-specific m3 symmetry. The morphology of the single crystals and twins indicates that first generation of single pyrite crystals should have the lowest cubic 23 symmetry, which is not confirmed by the structural analysis. This discrepancy may be due to changed pT conditions and the consequent transformation of the original pyrite structure with symmetry 23 into a secondary structure with m3 symmetry, or to suboptimal conditions in determining the structure by X-ray diffraction. U ovome radu izvršen je detaljan fonološki opis čakavskih kopnenih govora zadarske okolice uz osnovne napomene o morfologiji. Rad se temelji na primjerima dobivenima od izvornih govornika tijekom terenskih istraživanja. Za svaku relevantnu pojavu paralelno se navode primjeri iz svih govora, nakon čega slijedi usporedba sa susjednim novoštokavskim govorima. Radu su priloženi i ogledni primjeri nekih od ispitanih govora dobiveni transkripcijom zvučnih zapisa snimljenih na terenu. Na temelju primjerā iznesenih u ovome radu možemo ustvrditi da su fonološke značajke čakavskih kopnenih govora zadarske okolice izvorno čakavske, kao i to da su, zbog višestoljetnih bliskih kontakata s novoštokavskim govorima susjednih naselja, do određene mjere narušene.

This study reveals the macroscopic and microscopic structures of the Eurasian lynx planum nasale using materials from three dead females obtained from the Sivas Forestry Branch of Agriculture and Forestry Ministry of the Republic of Turkey. To accomplish the purpose, planum nasale was investigated using macroscopic, histological, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The microscopic examination showed that the planum nasale consists of hairless, moist, glabrous skin and resembles a ship anchor with arm, palm, stock, and sickle parts. The planum nasale’s surface is formed by epidermal plates or epidermal ridges, which were separated from each other by primary and secondary fissures showed in SEM and macroscopic figures. Based on the microscopic examination, the Mercel’s cells and nerve ends are located in the basal sheet of the planum nasale’s epidermal layers. In addition, the pores situated on the surface of the epidermal ridges and the dense connective bundles were settled in the dermal layers, based on the SEM examination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Genus Scardinius (Cypriniformes, Actinopteri) belongs to the family Leuciscidae, subfamily Leuciscinae, and it includes 10 species. Phylogenetic and morphometric research conducted so far have shown a great taxonomic complexity within this genus. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the morphological diversity and contribute to the clarification of taxonomic relationships and status of S. dergle and S. plotizza. For the purpose of this research specimens of S. dergle and S. plotizza were collected from their whole distribution area in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On each individual 25 morphometric characters were measured, standardized with allometric conversion and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed significant intra- and interspecific differences in investigated morphometric characters. In addition, distinct grouping of populations of each species and partial overlapping of some populations of both species was recorded, reflecting their possible relationships. Also, investigated meristic characters showed accordance with deterministic values for most investigated populations. Although this research has given indications of relationships and the status of populations of S. dergle and S. plotizza, in order to confirm the results and determine the exact taxonomic status, phylogenetic relationships and genetic diversity of these species, further phylogenetic research is needed. Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are a common vascular pathology associated with rupture risk, an event that is fatal in half of the cases. The IA growth is considered as an announcement of the rupture risk. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate prediction models of a potential IA growth based on its baseline morphology. CTA and MRA follow-up angiograms of 39 patients with 44 IAs are classified by an expert into growing and stable (25/19). From the angiograms, the vascular surface meshes are extracted and the IA shape was characterized by the established morphologic features, such as the IA height, surface area, volume, height to the neck-width aspect ratio and nonsphericity index. The features characterizing the IA baseline are used to predict a future IA growth using uni- and multi-variate machine learning based models, while a deep learning model based on PointNet++ input the raw meshes. In a crossvalidation experiment, the latter achieves better accuracy of 0.82 (sensitivity=0.96 and specificity=0.63) compared to 0.63 and 0.68 of the uni- and multi-variate models, respectively. The descriptive grammars of Polish recognize the category of hypocoristics only in connection with denominal nouns. This research demonstrates that there are good reasons to postulate an adjectival category for hypocoristic formations with regard to derivatives such as bielutki, bielusieńki, bialutki, bieluśki, bieluteńki, bieluchny, bieleńki, bialusieńki, bialuśki, bialuteńki, bielusi. A major argument for this refers to the analysis conducted in this paper, which identifies several recurring morphemes present both in typical nominal hypocoristics and, likewise, in the derived adjectives under investigation. The article also concerns the semantic and pragmatic effects of hypocorization of Polish colour terms in the role of attributive adjectives. A study in the National Corpus of the Polish Language with the aid of the PELCRA search engine into the occurrences of such forms confirms that adjectival colour terms perform both the semantic and pragmatic functions of hypocorisms specified in dictionary as well as encyclopaedic definitions of the phenomenon. However, the hypocoristic morphemes attached to colour adjectives, and to unmarked adjectives in antonymous pairs, do not signify a diminished size, but rather signal a positive emotional attitude in the speaker and are used to intensify the description of a colour sensation, i.e., to indicate that a given colour property is recognized in its prime. The pragmatic, emotional load of such terms seems to be no different than in the case of typical, nominal hypocoristic forms; the considered colour terms generally (though not always) express positive speaker attitude.
