Functionalization of perovskite nanocrystal surfaces with thiocyanate anions presents a transformative approach to enhancing stability and photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) through surface defect passivation. This study investigates the role of thiocyanate ligands in modifying the optoelectronic properties of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals. We employed ultrafast two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy to investigate the nature of the dynamic interaction of thiocyanate ligands with nanocrystal surfaces, providing insights into the mechanisms underlying the observed increase in PLQY and stability. Our analysis reveals that the thiocyanate ligands efficiently passivate the surface defects, thereby enhancing the PLQY and the stability of the treated nanocrystals. The spectroscopic evidence supports a model where thiocyanate binds to under-coordinated lead atoms, contributing to a stable nanocrystal surface with enhanced optoelectronic performance. Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) hold immense promise as ultrathin-body semiconductors for cutting-edge electronics and optoelectronics. In particular, their sustained charge mobility even at atomic-level thickness as well as their absence of surface dangling bonds, versatile band structures, and silicon-compatibility integration make them a prime candidate for device applications in both academic and industrial domains. Despite such high expectations, group-VI TMDs reportedly exhibit a range of enigmatic properties, such as substantial contact resistance, Fermi level pinning, and limited unipolar charge transport, which are all rooted in their inherent defects. In other words, intrinsic physical properties resulting from their native defects extend their influence beyond the material level. Bridging point-defect-induced material properties and their behavior at the device level, this Perspective sheds light on the significance of crystalline defects beyond a rather simple defect–property relationship. As a distinctive approach, we briefly review the well-established defect model of conventional III–V semiconductors and further apply it to the emergent defect behaviors of 2D TMDs such as their defect-induced gap states. Within the main discussion, we survey a range of behaviors caused by the most prevalent intrinsic defect, namely, vacancies, within 2D TMDs, and their implications for electronic and optoelectronic properties when employed at the device level. This review presents an in-depth summary of complexities in material properties as well as device characteristics arising from intrinsic point defects and provides a solid foundation for the cross-links among native defects and material/device properties. This work investigates exciton localization and dynamics in semiconductor GaNAsP nanowires (NWs) with varying nitrogen concentrations. Through detailed time-resolved photoluminescence studies, we identify a nitrogen composition-dependent difference in exciton transfer between localized states formed due to alloy disorder. With [N] = 0.1%, the localized states exhibit cluster-like, non-interacting behavior, whereas at [N] = 1.1%, a continuous band of localized states is observed. Additionally, the phosphorous incorporation in the NWs appears to enhance the exciton spatial confinement compared to behaviors observed in phosphorous-free GaNAs NWs, emphasizing the role of the alloy composition in the nature of exciton localization. Temperature is highlighted as a significant factor affecting exciton mobility, enabling efficient transfer between the localized states at higher temperatures. This, in turn, influences exciton lifetimes. Our findings, therefore, shed light on the nature of exciton dynamics in GaNAsP NWs, enriching our understanding of these materials and paving the way for their applications in optoelectronics. Chiral hybrid lead halide perovskites show interesting chiral optoelectronic properties. The extent of chirality is often estimated by their circular dichroism (CD) response. Here, we show that the CD data depend strongly on film morphology. Four of the six chiral hybrid lead halide films prepared, 2D (R- and S-MBA)2PbI4 and 1D (R- and S-MBA)PbI3 (MBA: methylbenzylammonium), form homogenous non-textured films and show an isotropic CD signal. In contrast, the other two samples, 1D (R- and S-MBA)PbBr3, form textured films, showing uncorrelated CD signals from different parts of the film. Therefore, the role of film morphology needs to be verified before designing and comparing the chiroptic and chiral optoelectronic properties of hybrid perovskites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanosheets of transition metal dichalcogenides with prospects of photocatalysis and optoelectronics applications have significant potential in device fabrication due to their low-cost production and easily controllable morphology. Here, non-degenerate pump-probe differential transmission studies with varying pump-fluence have been carried out on single-phase 2H–MoSe2 and mixed-phase 1T/2H–MoSe2 nanosheets to characterize their excited carrier dynamics. For both the samples, the differential probe transmission data show photo-induced bleaching at earlier pump-probe delay followed by photo-induced absorption unveiling signatures of exciton-state filling, exciton trapping, defect-mediated photo-induced probe absorption and recombination of defect bound excitons. The exciton trapping and photo-induced absorption by the trapped-carriers are estimated to occur with time constant of ∼430 to 500 fs based on multi-exponential modelling of the differential transmission till pump-probe delay of ∼3.5 ps. Biexponential modeling of the subsequent slow-recovery of the negative differential transmission at pump-probe delay ≳3.5 ps reveals that the exciton recombination happens via two distinct decay channels with ∼25 to 55 ps (τ1) and ≳1 ns (τ2) time constants. Pump-fluence dependent reduction in τ1 and further modelling of exciton population using higher order kinetic rate equation reveals that the two-body exciton-exciton annihilation governs the exciton recombination initially with a decay rate of ∼ 10 − 8 cm3s−1. The detailed analysis suggests that the fraction of total excitons that decay via long decay channel decreases with increasing exciton density for 2H–MoSe2, in contrast to 1T/2H–MoSe2 where the fraction of excitons decaying via long decay channel remains constant. γ-GeSe has recently emerged as a promising material for electronics and optoelectronics due to its unique band structure and excellent electrical properties. However, controllable growth of γ-GeSe remains a significant challenge. In this work, the controllable growth of γ-GeSe microflakes (MFs) on a mica substrate was reported by vapor phase deposition via a rapid cooling strategy. The screw dislocation-driven growth behavior is confirmed based on systematic characterizations. Our experimental results demonstrate that the stress induced during the rapid cooling process is critical for the controllable synthesis of γ-GeSe MFs and corresponding growth mechanism was proposed. Our work provides a new experimental strategy for the controlled growth of γ-GeSe MFs, which is beneficial for constructing GeSe-based nanoelectronic and optoelectronic devices. Quaternary III–V semiconductors are one of the most promising material classes in optoelectronics. The bandgap and its character, direct or indirect, are the most important fundamental properties determining the performance and characteristics of optoelectronic devices. Experimental approaches screening a large range of possible combinations of III- and V-elements with variations in composition and strain are impractical for every target application. We present a combination of accurate first-principles calculations and machine learning based approaches to predict the properties of the bandgap for quaternary III–V semiconductors. By learning bandgap magnitudes and their nature at density functional theory accuracy based solely on the composition and strain features of the materials as an input, we develop a computationally efficient yet highly accurate machine learning approach that can be applied to a large number of compositions and strain values. This allows for a computationally efficient prediction of a vast range of materials under different strains, offering the possibility of virtual screening of multinary III–V materials for optoelectronic applications. Self-powered photodetectors (PDs) with distinguishable wavelength detection have great application potential in intelligent optoelectronics. However, slow response speed, low responsivity, and signal interference prevent its development and applications. Here, an asymmetric bipolar p-NiO/n-ZnO/p-Si heterojunction is designed as a wavelength-distinguishable PD by using two tandem p–n junctions to reduce the wavelength interference and effectively separate photo-generated carriers. Bidirectional transient photocurrents are achieved in the external circuit for ultraviolet and visible detection by smartly using the pyro-phototronic effect induced by the variations of spontaneous polarization and interface-induced polarization within the p–n–p junction. The transient peak-to-peak current are thus significantly improved by 2310% for 325 nm lasing and by 5950% for 442 nm lasing. This approach can be used to realize wavelength-distinguishable detection through flexibly selecting materials and using the pyro-phototronic effect. Phyllosilicate minerals are an emerging class of naturally occurring layered insulators with large bandgap energy that have gained attention from the scientific community. This class of lamellar materials has been recently explored at the ultrathin two-dimensional level due to their specific mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and optoelectronic properties, which are crucial for engineering novel devices (including heterostructures). Due to these properties, phyllosilicate minerals can be considered promising low-cost nanomaterials for future applications. In this Perspective article, we will present relevant features of these materials for their use in potential 2D-based electronic and optoelectronic applications, also discussing some of the major challenges in working with them. PbS semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) have been heavily explored for infrared optoelectronics but can exhibit visible-wavelength quantum-confined optical gaps when sufficiently small (⌀ = 1.8–2.7 nm). However, small PbS NCs traditionally exhibited very broad ensemble absorption linewidths, attributed to poor size-heterogeneity. Here, harnessing recent synthetic advances, we report photophysical measurements on PbS ensembles that span this underexplored size range. We observe that the smallest PbS NCs pervasively exhibit lower brightness and anomalously accelerated photoluminescence decays—relative to the idealized photophysical models that successfully describe larger NCs. We find that effects of residual ensemble size-heterogeneity are insufficient to explain our observations, so we explore plausible processes that are intrinsic to individual nanocrystals. Notably, the anomalous decay kinetics unfold, surprisingly, over hundreds-of-nanosecond timescales. These are poorly matched to effects of direct carrier trapping or fine-structure thermalization but are consistent with non-radiative recombination linked to a dynamic surface. Thus, the progressive enhancement of anomalous decay in the smallest particles supports predictions that the surface plays an outsized role in exciton–phonon coupling. We corroborate this claim by showing that the anomalous decay is significantly remedied by the installation of a rigidifying shell. Intriguingly, our measurements show that the anomalous aspect of these kinetics is insensitive to temperature between T = 298 and 77 K, offering important experimental constraint on possible mechanisms involving structural fluctuations. Thus, our findings identify and map the anomalous photoluminescence kinetics that become pervasive in the smallest PbS NCs and call for targeted experiments and theory to disentangle their origin. This year marks the 50th anniversary of a significant milestone in organic optoelectronics, i.e., the first account of metallic-like conductivity in an entirely organic material, tetrathiafulvalene–tetracyanoquinodimethane (TTF–TCNQ). Since the discovery of this prototypical TTF–TCNQ charge-transfer (CT) pair, countless studies, ranging from various aspects, have been done on this fascinating TTF–TCNQ and related CT complexes. More recently, the CT complex-based approach has emerged as an elegant way of designing various next-generation functional organic materials, viz. room temperature phosphorescent (RTP), thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF), near infra infrared (NIR) emissive, organic spin-systems, etc. This highlight discusses how the synergy between computational screening and crystal engineering principles can be used to obtain the desired functional output and modulate the CT complex's bulk optical and electronic features. Emphasis is given to some of the recent non-covalent CT complex-based approaches to designing functional optical materials like RTP, TADF, NIR-emissive, chiral CT complex, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT A novel Schiff base (BSSMO) and its copper complex have been synthesized, and their structure was delineated using single crystal XRD studies. Computational techniques were used to design and evaluate BSSMO‐based luminophores, revealing a significant intramolecular hydrogen bond within the molecule. Understanding ESIPT is crucial for optimizing photophysical and luminophore properties of organic molecules, especially for advancing optoelectronic devices. The study also explored the mechanisms of GSIPT and ESIPT for these BSSMO‐based luminophores using transition state theory, charge distribution, molecular orbital analysis, and quantum theory of atoms in molecules. Results advocated that BSSMO‐L2 exhibits higher absorption compared with BSSMO‐L1 and the same trend is observed in emission spectral studies. However, the intensity of enol emissions in BSSMO‐L2 is lower than that of keto (BSSMO‐L3) emissions and the S1 (Keto form) emission of BSSMO‐L3 shows significantly larger values, making it attractive for optoelectronic devices. The findings offer valuable insights for the development of ESIPT emitters with distinct photophysical properties. The in silico antidiabetic study of BSSMO‐L2 explores the interaction with PPAR‐γ protein, revealing a moderate affinity and stable complex, enhancing its bio‐potential for future applications. The in vitro anticancer study of Cu‐BSSMO‐L2 complex shows a potential anticancer effect through mitochondrial and extrinsic death receptor mediated pathways. Strontium titanate nanoparticles (SrTiO 3 NPs) were produced via the solid-state reaction method. Then, they were used to enhance the structural, mechanical, electrical, and dielectric properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/polyethylene oxide (PEO) blend for energy storage applications. For this purpose, SrTiO 3 NPs were dispersed in the polymer blend to fabricate nanocomposite films using a solution casting method. The nanocomposite films were then characterized using a variety of instruments, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet/Visible spectroscopy (UV/visible), and impedance analyzers. Based on XRD and TEM measurements, the synthesized SrTiO 3 NPs have a cubic perovskite phase and a diameter that varies between 70 and 160 nm. Additionally, according to XRD measurements, adding SrTiO 3 NPs to PVA/PEO reduces the crystallinity of the resulting nanocomposites. In addition, the surface morphology and elemental composition were demonstrated through the utilization of scanning electron microscope. (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopic analysis (EDX) spectra, where PVA and PEO polymers formed a homogenous and rough surface, and the SrTiO 3 NPs of low concentrations were spread out within the blend's structure. Analysis of the FTIR peaks revealed prominent characteristic peaks associated with vibrational groups that change randomly with the concentration of SrTiO 3 NPs. With increasing SrTiO 3 NPs concentration, the nanocomposite UV/visible absorbance, optical bandgap energies, and refractive index were calculated and discussed. Impedance studies conclude that the amount of SrTiO 3 NPs in a mixture raises the mixture's AC electrical conductivity, dielectric loss, and dielectric constant. The mechanical characteristics, such as Young's modulus, yield strength, and strain at failure, were assessed by examining the tensile test of prepared films. The thermal stability of PVA/PEO-SrTiO 3 nanocomposite films were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The ternary ZnIn2S4 has recently gained significant attention due to its potential applications in various optoelectronics and photocatalysis sectors. In the current study, ZnIn2S4 nanoparticles were prepared using a simple microwave-assisted synthesis method with different irradiation powers varying from 180 W--720 W. Structural analysis confirmed their polycrystalline nature with the appearance of ZnIn2S4 and In2S3 phases. The variation in diffraction pattern intensity and Raman vibrational bands with irradiation power indicates structural rearrangements induced with power variation. Morphological studies confirmed the formation of agglomerate nanoparticles with size variation as induced by different microwave powers. Broad absorption across the visible and near-infrared regions and the increased band gap enhance their photocatalytic and sensing applications. An increased irradiation power in the ZnIn2S4 lattice reduced intermediate levels within the band gap, altering the optical responsiveness. The blue shift in absorption edges with microwave power increased the optical band gap by reducing disorder and defects. The refractive indices were estimated using different theoretical models and reduced with an increase in the band gap. Thermal analysis revealed endothermic peaks. These ZnIn2S4 nanoparticles displayed an enhanced photocurrent under white light, increasing tenfold with microwave power. The greater powered ZIS (ZIS-720 W) nanomaterial showed the best photoresponse and is well suited for optoelectronic application. Hyperuniform disordered solids (HUDS) waveguides, a type of emerging artificial photonic bandgap (PBG) devices, are demonstrated to possess large, complete, and isotropic PBGs, being promising for developing applications in optoelectronics, nonlinear optics, and sensing. However, optical losses of HUDS waveguides are usually limited by giant light scattering from the irregular distribution of HUDS cells. Herein, HUDS waveguide devices are demonstrated with low optical losses and large PBGs by exploring a morphology‐engineering and wall‐network‐regulation method of developing HUDS structures. The results show that the proposed device can achieve a 3.0 dB transmittance improvement for a 36‐µm‐long silicon HUDS waveguide. Based on the proposed HUDS structure, a waveguide‐coupled HUDS‐cladding nanocavity is also demonstrated with a quality factor of ≈70 at 2.250 µm wavelengths and a theoretical refractive index sensitivity of 446 nm RIU−1. ABSTRACT Para‐phenylene‐bridged pyridinium (acceptor)–dicyanomethanide (donor)‐based zwitterions were computationally investigated and are reported here. Reichardt's metamer was found to be twisted and Brooker's metamer in near‐planar conformation. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis showed that mesomeric resonance is helping Brooker's metamer but found to be not helpful for Reichardt's metamer. To assess the impacts of metamerism and aromatic bridges, fundamental molecular properties like dipole moments (μ), polarizabilities (α), hyperpolarizabilities (β), and adiabatic absorptions of these two molecules were analyzed and then directly compared with their counterpart zwitterions without any bridges (previously reported). Results of impact of metamerism: Reichardt's metamer showed around three times enhanced hyperpolarizabilities (ωB97xD: β = 1577.1 × 10−30 esu) than the Brooker's metamer (ωB97xD: β = 532.5 × 10−30 esu). Impacts of p‐phenylene bridges: Compared to their respective D–A directly connected zwitterions reported previously (in ωB97xD methodology, Reichardt's: β = 257.2 × 10−30 esu and Brooker's: β = 67.2 × 10−30 esu), respective p‐phenylene‐bridged zwitterions showed five to eight times enhanced hyperpolarizabilities. This report highlights the better efficiencies of Reichardt's metamer over Brooker's metamer and aromatically bridged over the directly connected zwitterions. Current findings may be helpful in the designing of efficient functional molecular chromophores, and aromatic bridge combined with zwitterions can be solutions to nonlinear transparency trade‐off problem. Chiral 2D and quasi-2D hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) are emerging as promising materials for a variety of applications principally related to optoelectronics and spintronics, thanks to the combined benefits deriving from both the chiral cation and the perovskite structure. Since its recent birth, this research field is tremendously growing, focalizing on the chemical composition tuning to unveil its influence on the related functional properties as well as on developing devices for practical applications. In this review, we focused on the properties of 2D and quasi-2D chiral HOIPs, firstly providing an overview on their chiroptical behaviour followed by their potential exploitation in devices investigated so far for various applicative fields. Research on organic–inorganic hybrid materials (OIHMs) has experienced explosive growth in the past decades. The diversity of organic components allows for the introduction of various spatial scales, functional groups, and polarities, while inorganic components provide higher hardness, heat resistance, and stability, their flexible combination facilitates the formation of diverse structures. Furthermore, simple and cost‐effective synthesis methods, such as room temperature solution processes and mechanochemical techniques, enable precise control over the materials' properties at different scales, thus achieving adjustable structure–performance relationships. This review will discuss the recent research progress of OIHMs within the field of optoelectronics and related optoelectronic device applications. According to the dimension of inorganic components and the nature of organic–inorganic interface, this review divides OIHMs into four structural categories. The ongoing research has revealed diverse applications for OIHMs in the fields of solar cells, light‐emitting devices, detectors, and memristors. As an outlook, the potential of perovskite and 0D metal halide materials, which are currently the most studied, for enhancing optoelectronic performance and stability is discussed. We report all-soft vertical organic photodetectors composed of only soft components. Chemically and physically enhanced interfacial adhesion between layers enables robust operation under mechanical deformation. Organic donor‐acceptor (D‐A) conjugated macrocycles, which are regarded as terminal‐less counterparts of linear π‐systems, have emerged as a promising class material for organic optoelectronics. Nevertheless, circular symmetry generally makes the lowest electronic transition symmetry forbidden, which is a huge obstacle to developing bright near‐infrared macrocyclic dyes. Here, a series of cyclic D‐A oligomers (e.g., cyclic D‐A dimer ([2]C16TT‐TPA), trimer ([3]C16TT‐TPA), and tetramer ([4]C16TT‐TPA)) are synthesized in which triphenylamine and 4,6‐bisthienylthieno[3,4‐c]thiadiazole are alternately coupled. The ring size‐dependent photophysical properties of D‐A cyclic oligomers, such as photoluminescence quantum yield and radiative decay rate, are revealed through both experiments and theoretical calculations. Owing to conformational flexibility and dominant twisted conformation, [3]C16TT‐TPA shows increasing S0→S1 transition and thereby produces a champion photoluminescence quantum yield of 6.35  % in solution with emission beyond 900 nm, much higher than that of acyclic oligomer (1.56%). Furthermore, the [3]C16TT‐TPA‐based organic light‐emitting diode achieves a relatively high external quantum efficiency of 0.15% with a maximum radiance of 2897 mW sr−1 m−2. The study not only provides insights into the mechanism of ring size‐dependent photophysical properties but also demonstrates the potential of D–A cyclic oligomers for bright near‐infrared emitters. Stretchable optoelectronic devices are typically realized through a 2D integration of rigid components and elastic interconnectors to maintain device performance under stretching deformation. However, such configurations inevitably sacrifice the area ratio of active components to enhance the maximum interconnector strain. We herein propose a 3D buckled height-alternant architecture for stretchable OLEDs that enables the high active-area ratio and the enhanced maximum strain simultaneously. Along with the optimal dual serpentine structure leading to a low critical buckling strain, a pop-up assisting adhesion blocking layer is proposed based on an array of micro concave structures for spatially selective adhesion control, enabling a reliable transition to a 3D buckled state with OLED-compatible processes. Consequently, we demonstrate stretchable OLEDs with both the high initial active-area ratio of 85% and the system strain of up to 40%, which would require a lateral interconnector strain of up to 512% if it were attained with conventional 2D rigid-island approaches. These OLEDs are shown to exhibit reliable performance under 2,000 biaxial cycles of 40% system strain. 7 × 7 passive-matrix OLED displays with the similar level of the initial active-area ratio and maximum system strain are also demonstrated. Conventional stretchable optoelectronics suffer from sacrificed area ratio of active components to enhance maximum strain. Strong coupling between light and matter in a microcavity can produce quasi‐particle states termed cavity‐polaritons. In cavity architectures containing more than one excitonic species, the photon mode can simultaneously couple to the different excitons, generating new ʻhybrid‐polaritonʼ states. It is demonstrated that such hybrid polariton states can energetically connect different molecular species, even when their intermolecular distance is much larger than the Förster transfer radius. Here, this mechanism is unveiled and observed in the time domain energy delocalization in a strongly coupled cavity containing two layers of donor and acceptor molecules, separated by an inert spacer layer of 2 µm thickness. 2D electronic spectroscopy is used, a technique that provides simultaneously high spectral and temporal resolution, to probe the dynamics of the energy flow processes following ultra‐fast excitation. It shows that energy is almost instantaneously delocalized among the polariton states, providing a direct connection between very highly separated donor and acceptor molecules. Lead chalcogenides are compelling materials for nanophotonics and optoelectronics due to their high refractive indices, extreme thermo‐optic coefficients, and high transparency in the mid‐infrared (MIR). In this study, PbTe hoppercubes (HC, face‐open box cubes) are synthesized and explored for their MIR resonant characteristics. Single‐particle microspectroscopy uncovered deep‐subwavelength light localization, with a spectral response dominated by both fundamental and multiple high‐order Mie‐resonant modes. Nanoimaging mapping using scattering‐type scanning near‐field optical microscopy (s‐SNOM) reveals that the scattering at the center of the HC is reduced by more than five times compared to the edges. 2D‐Hyperspectral scans conducted using a low‐power broadband MIR source and nanometer spatial resolutions provided information on the local amplitude and phase‐resolved near‐fields, including amplitude and phase mapping of higher order modes with measured Q‐factors of close to 100. Employing s‐SNOM to characterize complex resonant nanophotonic structures holds implications for quantum sensing, IR photodetection, non‐linear generation, and ultra‐compact high‐Q metaphotonics. Cyclotriphosphazene (CP) is a cyclic inorganic compound with the chemical formula N3P3. This unique molecule consists of a six‐membered ring composed of alternating nitrogen and phosphorus atoms, each bonded to two chlorine atoms. CP exhibits remarkable versatility and significance in the realm of materials chemistry due to its easy functionalization via facile nucleophilic substitution reactions in mild conditions as well as intriguing properties of resultant final CP‐based molecules or polymers. CP has been served as an important building block for numerous functional materials. This review provides a general and broad overview of the synthesis of CP‐based small molecules through nucleophilic substitution of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP), and their applications, including flame retardants, liquid crystals (LC), chemosensors, electronics, biomedical materials, and lubricants, have been summarized and discussed. It would be expected that this review would offer a timely summary of various CP‐based materials and hence give an insight into further exploration of CP‐based molecules in the future. Thin film lithium niobate is one of the most crucial platforms in the next generation of integrated optoelectronics because of its ability to integrate tight optical confinement, low optical loss, and active optical functions. A current challenge in the field of thin film lithium niobate photonics is the development of high‐performance photodetectors to achieve multifunctional photonic integrated circuits. This study introduces a high‐performance MoTe2 photodetector integrated on a thin film lithium niobate waveguide. The photodetector achieves the lowest dark current and highest on/off ratio among waveguide‐integrated photodetectors on a thin film lithium niobate platform. Due to a slight asymmetry in the behavior of the two electrode contacts of the device, the photodetector also achieves self‐driven. At zero bias and a wavelength of 1310 nm, a dark current of ≈20 pA, and an on/off ratio exceeding 105 are achieved. At a bias voltage of 1 V, the measured dark current, responsivity, and on/off ratio are 1.13 nA, 309 mA/W, and 1.8 × 104, respectively. Notably, the device exhibits fast rise and fall times of 9.3 and 13.5 µs, respectively, accompanied by a high detectivity of 2.58 × 1011 W−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lead‐based halide perovskites have gained significant prominence in recent years in optoelectronics and photovoltaics, owing to their exceptional optoelectronic properties. Nonetheless, the toxicity of lead (Pb) and the stability concern pose obstacles to their potential for future large‐scale market development. Herein, stable lead‐free Cs3Bi2I9 (CBI) films are presented with smooth and compact morphologies synthesized via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), demonstrating their application as an UV photodetector in a self‐powered way. The self‐powered photodetectors (SPDs) exhibit remarkable characteristics, including a responsivity of 1.57 A W−1 and an impressive specific detectivity of 3.38 × 1013 Jones under the illumination of 365 nm at zero bias. Furthermore, the SPDs exhibit a nominal decline (≈2.2%) in the photocurrent under constant illumination over 500 h, highlighting its impressive long‐term operational stability. Finally, the real‐time UV‐detection capability of the device is demonstrated by measuring the photocurrent under various conditions, including room light and sunlight at different times. Short foot exercise (SFE) can be combined with dynamic functional tasks such as squats; however, it is unclear whether this combination increases intrinsic foot muscle activity. This study aimed to investigate and compare the abductor hallucis muscle (AbdH) activity during SFE in static and dynamic functional tasks. The AbdH electromyography data of 17 healthy participants with and without SFE were analyzed during static tasks (sitting, double-leg standing, and single-leg standing) and dynamic tasks (double-leg squat, single-leg squat, split squat, and heel-raise). The static tasks were performed with SFE for 5 seconds, and the dynamic tasks were performed while performing SFE. AbdH activity with or without SFE during the task was compared using the Friedman and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests. AbdH activity was significantly greater in conditions with SFE than in those without SFE for all tasks (P < 0.01) except for heel-raise (P = 0.163). AbdH activity during SFE in single-leg standing was significantly higher than that in sitting, double-leg standing, and double-leg squats (P < 0.05). AbdH activity during SFE in the single-leg squat was also significantly greater than that in the sitting position (P = 0.024). No significant differences were found in any other between-task comparisons of AbdH activity during SFE. AbdH activity during tasks without SFE revealed significantly lower levels for sitting and double-leg standing compared to single-leg squat, split squat, and heel-raise (P < 0.001). Additionally, the activity in double-leg squat was significantly lower than in both single-leg squat and heel-raise (P < 0.05). Combining dynamic tasks, except for the heel-raise task, with SFE can increase AbdH activity more than dynamic tasks without SFE. Changes in spatio-temporal gait parameters and their variability during balance-challenging tasks are markers of motor performance linked to fall risk. Radio frequency (RF) sensors hold great promise towards achieving continuous remote monitoring of these parameters. To establish the concurrent validity of RF-based gait metrics extracted using micro-Doppler (µD) signatures and to determine whether these metrics are sensitive to gait modifications created by multidirectional visual perturbations. Fifteen participants walked overground in a virtual environment (VE) and VE with medio-lateral (ML) and antero-posterior (AP) perturbations. An optoelectronic motion capture system and one RF sensor were used to extract the linear velocity of the trunk and estimate step time (ST), step velocity (SV), step length (SL), and their variability (STV, SVV, and SLV). Intra-class coefficient for consistency (ICC), mean and standard deviation of the differences (MD), 95 % limits of agreement, and Pearson correlation coefficients (r) were used to determine concurrent validity. One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to analyze the main and interaction effects of visual conditions. All outcomes showed good to excellent reliability (r>0.795, ICC>0.886). Average gait parameters showed good to excellent agreement, with values obtained with the RF sensor systematically smaller than the values obtained with the markers (MD of 0.001 s, 0.09 m/s, and 0.06 m). Gait variability parameters showed poor to moderate agreement, with values obtained with the RF sensor systematically larger than those obtained with the markers (MD of 1.9 %-3.9 %). Both measurement systems reported decreased SL and SV during ML perturbations, but the gait variability parameters extracted with the radar were not able to detect the higher STV and SLV during this condition. The radar µD signature is a valid and reliable method for the assessment of average spatio-temporal gait parameters but gait variability measures need to be viewed with caution because of the lower levels of agreement and sensitivity to ML visual perturbations. In this paper, the crystal structure, optical and electronic properties of two related rubidium iodide halide perovskites RbSiI3 and RbGeI3 are investigated and discussed thoroughly. The calculations of these properties are performed using the generalized gradient approximation under Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof functional (GGA–PBE). Also, the structural optimizations and accurate optoelectronic properties have been achieved by exploiting full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method (FP-LAPW). Analysis of optimization results exposed that the volume per unit cell and lattice parameter (a0 = 5.8348 Å (RbSiI3)) and (a0 = 5.9631 Å (RbGeI3)) are closely in agreement with the previous results. In addition, the calculated values of tolerance factor (TF ≈ 1.0) satisfy the creation criterion for perovskites, and the negative and small values of formation energy (ΔFE) confirm the chemical stability of studied compounds. The results of density of states and band structures reveal that RbSiI3 and RbGeI3 are nonmagnetic semiconductors having a proper direct energy gap (Eg) of 0.465 and 0.953 eV, respectively, along the M–M symmetry directions in the first Brillouin zone. The 2-D distributions of charge density confirm that the chemical bonding of Rb–I and Si/Ge–I bonds obey the covalent and ionic nature. Moreover, we have calculated and discussed the optoelectronic properties, real ε1(ω) and imaginary ε2(ω) functions, optical absorption α(ω), reflectivity R(ω) and refractivity n(ω). The results obtained in this study like structural stability, suitable Eg and highly accurate optical absorption α(ω) of visible light waves, indicate the possible exploitation of semiconductors RbSiI3 and RbGeI3 and make them candidate materials for optoelectronics, such as photovoltaic solar cells, photosensors, photodetectors and photodiodes devices. In this study, the composite P(4ClAni)/CuO, which consists of Poly(4-Chloroaniline) P(4ClAni) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles, was successfully synthesized utilizing a chemically oxidative polymerization approach to be applied in optoelectronics. Both FTIR and EDX analyses showed that CuO has been successfully integrated into the P(4ClAni) matrix. The SEM micrographs reveal uniform loading and distribution of CuO throughout the P(4ClAni) polymeric chains. The UV–Vis absorbance, the Urbach energy, the band edge and a number of carbon clusters were determined. The Tauc relationship was used to determine the band gaps, which revealed a decrease as the CuO concentration increased. The band gap drops from 3.84eV for P(4ClAni) to 3.09, 2.85, and 2.64eV, correspondingly for P(4ClAni)/CuO-1, P(4ClAni)/CuO-2, and P(4ClAni)/CuO-3. While, the Urbach tail is increased from 1.66eV for P(4ClAni) correspondingly to 1.81, 1.85, and 1.93eV. The results show composites made of P(4ClAni)/CuO have better optical characteristics than pure polymer P(4ClAni), suggesting that they can use these composites in optoelectronics devices. Chiral hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have garnered considerable research interest in the field of optoelectronics, owing to their ability to integrate outstanding optoelectronic characteristics with distinct chiral or spin‐related properties. Although recent years have witnessed the rapid development of chiral perovskites, methods for producing perovskites with high absorption dissymmetry factors (gCD) enabling polarization‐resolved chiroptical applications are still lacking. This study introduces a strategic combination of dual spacer cations, i.e., achiral hexane‐1,6‐diammonium (HDA) and chiral 1‐(chlorophenyl)ethylammonium (ClPEA), for boosting the chiroptical performance of 2D lead iodide HOIPs. Interestingly, ortho‐ClPEA, incapable of forming 2D HOIPs independently, successfully creates 2D structures in collaboration with HDA, exhibiting CD signals aligned with the absorption characteristics of 2D HOIPs. This significant milestone leads to an outstanding gCD value of 0.018, positioning it among the top performers in the field of lead‐based HOIPs. Furthermore, this study demonstrates the fabrication of circularly polarized light (CPL) detectors with a photocurrent dissymmetry factor (gIph) of 0.12, utilizing the HOIPs with enhanced chiroptical activity. By modulating subwavelength structures and integrating functional materials, 2D artificial microstructures (2D AMs), including heterostructures, superlattices, metasurfaces and microcavities, offer a powerful platform for significant manipulation of light fields and functions. These structures hold great promise in high‐performance and highly integrated optoelectronic devices. However, a comprehensive summary of 2D AMs remains elusive for photonics and optoelectronics. This review focuses on the latest breakthroughs in 2D AM devices, categorized into electronic devices, photonic devices, and optoelectronic devices. The control of electronic and optical properties through tuning twisted angles is discussed. Some typical strategies that enhance light‐matter interactions are introduced, covering the integration of 2D materials with external photonic structures and intrinsic polaritonic resonances. Additionally, the influences of external stimuli, such as vertical electric fields, enhanced optical fields and plasmonic confinements, on optoelectronic properties is analysed. The integrations of these devices are also thoroughly addressed. Bi4Br4 is a material rich in intriguing topological properties. Monolayer Bi4Br4 film exhibits helical edge states characteristic of a quantum spin Hall insulator, while bulk Bi4Br4 represents a higher-order topological insulator with hinge states. However, direct exfoliation from single crystal can only obtain thin nanowires due to the weak van der Waals forces between Bi4Br4 chains, which limits its optical analysis and application, while the growth of Bi4Br4 thin films is also full of challenges due to the extremely narrow growth temperature range and the accurate control of the BiBr3 flux. Here, we reported the controlled growth of α-Bi4Br4 thin films on intrinsic silicon substrates using molecular beam epitaxy. The growth temperature, BiBr3 flux, and the flux ratio of Bi and BiBr3 were accurately controlled. Then, the morphology, composition, and bonding of the prepared films were investigated using atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The growth of large, uniform thin films provides an ideal material platform for studying the physical properties of Bi4Br4. Additionally, we utilized Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy to explore the film's infrared characteristics, revealing strong absorption in the low frequency range due to the high proportion of one-dimensional topological edge states and laying the groundwork for further exploration of its potential applications in the optoelectronic field. Chiral hybrid perovskites show promise for advanced spin-resolved optoelectronics due to their excellent polarization-sensitive properties. However, chiral perovskites developed to date rely solely on the interaction between chiral organic ligand cations exhibiting point chirality and an inorganic framework, leading to a poorly ordered short-range chiral system. Here, we report a powerful method to overcome this limitation using dynamic long-range organization of chiral perovskites guided by the incorporation of chiral dopants, which induces strong interactions between chiral dopants and chiral cations. The additional interplay of chiral cations with chiral dopants reorganizes the morphological and crystallographic properties of chiral perovskites, notably enhancing the asymmetric behavior of chiral 2D perovskites by more than 10-fold, along with the highest dissymmetry factor of photocurrent (gPh) of ~1.16 reported to date. Our findings present a pioneering approach to efficiently amplify the chiroptical response in chiral perovskites, opening avenues for exploring their potential in cutting-edge optoelectronic applications. Motivated by recent experimental and theoretical research on the ability to store and release hydrogen from a hydride perovskite with a large ionic character called RbMgH 3 , we conducted a study using density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the optoelectronic behavior of RbMgH 3 in both Cubic and Hexagonal structures, as well as its phase transition. Our findings reveal that RbMgH 3 exhibits an indirect band gap of 2.41 eV in the Hexagonal phase and a direct band gap of 2.15 eV in the Cubic phase. Additionally, we calculated the Gibbs energy to predict the occurrence of the phase transition. It was determined that RbMgH 3 undergoes a structural transformation from Cubic to Hexagonal at a pressure of 1.78 GPa. This work focuses on the electronic, optoelectronic, and nonlinear optical properties of the cyclo[2N]carbon series (C10, C12, C14, C16, C18, C20, C22, and C24), and their derivative systems (C8BN, C10BN, C12BN, C14BN, C16BN, C18BN, C20BN, and C22BN) obtained by functionalizing each molecule of the series with the boron–nitrogen (B–N) binomial. The results were obtained from density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory at the B3LYP-D3, CAM-B3LYP-D3, and ωB97XD/6–31 + G(d) levels of theory. The study found that the cumulative B–N effects on the molecules studied break the centrosymmetry of these molecules while, lowering the energy gap (from 3.11 eV for C18 to 2.80 eV for its derivative C16BN) making these molecules good materials for electronics. The C2N molecules (2N = 4n), namely C12, C16, C20, and C24, and their derivatives C10BN, C14BN, C18BN, and C22BN, are found to have high chemical softness (s), electronegativity (η), and electrophilic index (ω), making them useful materials in optoelectronics. An impressive impact of the B–N cumulative effect on the cyclo[2N]carbon's series is that it significantly generates the first-order hyperpolarizability values. Like C24 of which β = 0.00 a.u. and its derivative C22BN of which β = 8812.77 a.u., value 8 times higher than that of paranitroaniline (β = 1072.44 a.u.), which is the reference compound in nonlinear optics, rendering these molecules interesting for linear and non-linear optical applications. Variable‐angle spectroscopic ellipsometry is used to determine the room temperature complex refractive index (n˜=n+ik)$\left(\right. \overset{&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;tilde;}{n} &amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;equals; n &amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;plus; i k \left.\right)$ of molecular beam epitaxy grown GaSb1−xBix films with x ≤ 4.25% over a spectral range of 0.47–6.2 eV. By correlating to critical points in the extinction coefficient k, the energies of several interband transitions are extracted as functions of Bi content. The observed change in the fundamental bandgap energy (E0, −36.5 meV per %Bi) agrees well with previously published values; however, the samples examined here show a much more rapid increase in the spin‐orbit splitting energy (Δ0, +30.1 meV per Bi) than previous calculations have predicted. As in the related GaAsBi, the energy of transitions involving the top of the valence band are observed to have a much stronger dependence on Bi content than those that do not, suggesting the valence band maximum is most sensitive to Bi alloying. In the current study, the electronic, optical, thermoelectric, and Structural properties of Mg 1−x Zn x O composition have been investigated. The density of states of MgO showed the predominant contribution of Mg- s and O- p orbitals, while for Zn-doped MgO, density of states spectra exhibited strong hybridization among O- p , Mg- s , and Zn- d orbitals. The reduction in band gap with the increase of Zn doping in the MgO host matrix was observed. The thermoelectric properties of pure and Zn-doped MgO samples were measured by utilizing the Boltztrap package. Structural studies showed that the thin films possess the single phase crystalline cubic structure, which retained its stability after Zn incorporation. The results demonstrated that Zn doping into MgO reduced the optical band gap and enhanced the optical properties. The current research focus indicates that Zn-doped MgO thin films with enhanced optical and thermoelectric properties could be potential choices for optoelectronic and thermoelectric applications. Tellurium (Te) has been rediscovered as an appealing p-type van der Waals semiconductor for constructing various advanced devices. Its unique crystal structure of stacking of one-dimensional molecular chains endows it with many intriguing properties including high hole mobilities at room temperature, thickness-dependent bandgap covering short-wave infrared and mid-wave infrared region, thermoelectric properties, and considerable air stability. These attractive features encourage it to be exploited in designing a wide variety of optoelectronics, especially infrared photodetectors. In this Perspective, we highlight the important recent progress of optoelectronics enabled by Te nanostructures, which constitutes the scope of photoconductive, photovoltaic, photothermoelectric photodetectors, large-scale photodetector array, and optoelectronic memory devices. Prior to that, we give a brief overview of basic optoelectronic-related properties of Te to provide readers with the knowledge foundation and imaginative space for subsequent device design. Finally, we provide our personal insight on the challenges and future directions of this field, with the intention to inspire more revolutionary developments in Te-based optoelectronics. In the current study, films of promising nanocomposites were fabricated from poly-methyl methacrylate(PMMA) filled with chromium oxide (Cr2O3) and silicon carbide(SiC) nanostrucures to employ in several advanced nanoelectronics and optical fields. The PMMA/Cr2O3/SiC nanocomposites have remarkable characteristics compared with other types of nanocomposites included inexpensive, excellent optical properties, good physical and chemical behaviours. The structural and optical properties of PMMA/Cr2O3/SiC nanocomposites films were tested. Results confirmed that the PMMA absorbance increased of 26.3% and 27.6% at λ = 380 nm (UV/spectra) and λ = 580 nm (VIS/spectra) when the Cr2O3/SiC NPs ratio reached of 5.7 wt.%. The PMMA transmittance decreased of 14.8% and 13.4% at λ = 380 nm and λ = 580 nm, these results make the PMMA/Cr2O3/SiC nanocomposites films are promising nanostructures for nanoelectronics and optics applications. The indirect allowed energy gap reduced from 3.82 eV to 3.47 eV with rising concentration of SiC/Cr2O3 NPs to 5.7 wt.%. The optical factors of PMMA improved with rising SiC/Cr2O3 NPs concentration. The progressive downscaling of silicon‐based microelectronic devices delivers compact and advanced integrated circuits for fast data processing and computing. Similarly, the miniaturization of conventional optoelectronics is also an important frontier of technology for emerging lighting, imaging, communication, and sensing. Herein, this study reports a miniature dual‐functional diode (DF‐diode) with both light‐emitting and light‐detecting functionalities. The proposed micro‐scale DF‐diode exhibits a record high responsivity of 300 mA W−1 at 265 nm with an ultrafast response rise time of 3.7 ns in light‐detecting mode. While operating in emitting mode, it demonstrates an extraordinarily high −3 dB optical bandwidth above 585 MHz with an enhanced external quantum efficiency performance. Significantly, the development of micro‐scale DF‐diodes has opened up a new avenue toward the realization of an effective and long‐distance solar‐blind optical communication system in the future. Layered van der Waals (vdW) dichalcogenides are distinguished by their unique crystal structures and high structural tunability, rendering them suitable for applications in optics and optoelectronics. Despite significant processes, some fundamental questions remain in two-dimensional (2D) vdW dichalcogenides, such as clarifying detailed structure–property relationship and further improving the optoelectronic performance. Herein, by applying pressure to tune the crystal structure in 2D vdW dichalcogenide SiTe2, we realized a five orders of magnitude boost in photocurrent at 8 GPa. Such an enhancement is attributed to bandgap narrowing and an increased carrier concentration. Furthermore, bandgap closing and metallization were observed at 15.4 GPa, further suggesting the significant change of electronic structure upon compression. This study not only elucidates the intriguing pressure-induced behavior of SiTe2 but also paves the way for harnessing the unique pressure-responsive properties of 2D vdW dichalcogenides in advanced optoelectronic systems. The traditional base station in C-RAN is divided into three parts: a pool of centralized baseband units (BBUs), a fronthaul network that links the BBUs and remote radio units (RRUs), and RRUs. This paper proposes a novel cooperative algorithm for resource optimization in a time-wavelength division multiplexed (TWDM) passive optical network (PON) incorporating a cloud radio access network (C-RAN). First, a joint collaborative strategy is deployed to optimize cooperative caching and transmission in the wireless and optical domains. Then, the quality of experience (QoE) is improved by bandwidth configuration and caching. Simulation results show that the average throughput of the proposed QoE-aware video cooperative caching and transmission mechanism (QACCTM) algorithm is approximately 30% higher than that of other algorithms. Compared with the relative average residual clutter power (RARCP) and quality-aware wireless edge caching (QAWEC) algorithms, the proposed QACCTM algorithm reduces the access delay by approximately 27.1% and 15.9%, respectively. With the advent of two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials, many non‐van der Waals (nvdW) materials have been synthesized and are being exploited for novel applications. Bismuth oxychalcogenides (Bi2O2X; X is S, Se, Te), a nvdW series with moderate band gap semiconductors, possess high carrier mobility and air stability. The layers in Bi2O2X stay with a formal bond, giving rise to distinct structural, optical, thermal, and electronic properties different from conventional vdW materials. Herein, these properties, their synthesis, and transfer methods of 2D Bi2O2X are examined. The photodetector application of Bi2O2X and their heterostructure (HS) is surveyed with special attention to Bi2O2Se. Beyond the photodetector, the other emerging application fields, such as gas‐bio sensors, optoelectronic imaging, integrated memory, solar cells, and photothermal technology of Bi2O2X are looked over. Based on the ongoing research and challenges, the strategies for future innovations are presented from basics to miniaturized applications. In view of the band offsets of vdW and nvdW semiconductors, the type of HS of a series of 94 vdW‐nvdW sets is proposed. This review will guide future studies on Bi2O2X and their HS to meet the increasing demands in multifunctional applications from the laboratory to the industrial scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D-TMDs) are promising for emerging research in printed optoelectronics because of their unique optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. By harnessing the exceptional properties of 2D-TMDs, such as high surface area, excellent charge carrier mobility, and tunable bandgaps, in printed optoelectronics, researchers unlock cost-effective and flexible avenues for efficient light manipulation, making these materials pivotal for advancing the field and addressing current optoelectronic challenges. The synthesis of 2D-TMD inks and their integration into printed devices offer a promising paradigm shift, enticing explosive interest with the potential for enhanced performance, scalability, and diverse applications in the dynamic landscape of printed optoelectronics. However, the prominent research advances in terms of optoelectronics, light-matter solid interactions, and printable optoelectronic inks based on 2D TMD materials have not been systematically reviewed. This review focuses on synthesizing and optimizing 2D-TMD inks, exploring their varied applications in printed optoelectronic devices, and paving the way for transformative advancements in this field. This review summarizes the latest research developments in this rapidly evolving area and emphasizes the crucial role of 2D-TMD inks in advancing printed optoelectronics, exploring their unique properties and potential for novel device architectures. In recent years, there has been a surge in twistronics research, uncovering diverse emergent properties in twisted two-dimensional (2D) layered materials. Vertically stacking these materials with slight azimuthal deviation or lattice mismatch creates moiré superlattices, optimizing the structure and energy band and leading to numerous quantum phenomena with applications in electronics, optoelectronics, photonics, and twistronics. Recently, the superior (opto)electronic properties of these moiré superlattices have shown potential in catalysis, providing a platform to manipulate catalytic activity by adjusting twist angles. Despite their potential to revolutionize 2D catalysts, their application in catalysis is limited to simple reactions, and the mechanisms behind their catalytic performance remain unclear.
