This study aims to analyze the ways in which WhatsApp mediates and inserts itself as a boundary object in the production of borders in the public organization Approve (fictional name). This research criticizes the predominant studies on boundary objects that fail to highlight the networks of relations that produce uses, the characteristics of objects, and boundaries as part of the boundary mediation process. We contribute to filling this gap by way of a qualitative study on WhatsApp using semi-structured interviews, observations, netnography, and data spiral analysis. Results evince WhatsApp as a boundary object that is inserted in productions with negative implications for people based on boundary mediation and produced in networks of relations that can use the application to produce and mediate boundaries.

Social entrepreneurship initiatives have drawn attention due to the presence of structures and institutional arrangements of hybrid characteristics, sometimes closer to the business sector (business), sometimes closer to non-profit organizations (social). This work demonstrates the historical incursion that allowed us to understand the genesis of social business as a current practice in business-society relations. It seeks to foster the debate about the social and business in order to advance in the discussions of these relationships that occur in the organizational practices of impact business (NI). In this sense, the research presented here is part of the field of critical cultural studies, presenting a part of research based on the Grounded Theory (Glaser; Strauss, 1967). An internet search was carried out, following daily for 36 months, news, articles and new utterances on the terms “negócio social”, “social business” and “negócios de impacto”. The results critically discuss the processes of rationalization and modernization generated from the social production of hybrid organizational identities. The historical panorama of the impact sector that was outlined in the research, evidenced the socioeconomic trajectory of “social business” and, serving as a methodological resource, allowed us to envision the imbrication (social-business) as a historical change. The imbrication between social and business is shown as innovation in business practice and evidences a cultural paradigm that has been built over the last 75 years. It should be highlighted that such changes are directly influenced by Global Development Governance (GGD). The new business practices, based on social business, are the ultimate expression of this paradigm and this cultural change results in new types of business. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Framework: The Covid-19 pandemic has brought several challenges at an economic, labor, social, and organizational level, and organizations had to adopt strategies to ensure their functioning, as well as to ensure and promote the health and well-being of workers. Research Question/Goals: This study aimed to identify and describe (1) the impact of Covid-19 on the world of work and (2) the strategies that organizations have adopted to minimize this impact. Method: A descriptive qualitative cross-sectional study was carried out, where data were collected from 18 participants (10 Human Resources Managers, five specialists from relevant fields regarding professional experiences with Covid-19, and three representatives of public entities and Portuguese civil society from the fields of work and gender) through semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using thematic categorical content analysis with the support of NVivo®. Results: The pandemic impacted (RQ1) on work, economic and labor, work-life balance, and health and well-being. The measures (RQ2) most frequently implemented by the organizations were in terms of health and safety at work, adaptation to teleworking, work-life balance, and communication. Final considerations: The data points to increasingly remote and flexible work transformed by new technologies. In the (re)design of the work, it is essential to consider the characteristics and needs of each worker. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FEMINIST theory , *SYSTEMS theory , *CRITICAL theory , *RACE , *ORGANIZATIONAL sociology - Abstract
Based on the biography of Katherine Johnson, a space scientist linked to the American Space Agency, this article seeks to analyze the form of inclusion/exclusion in organizations, based on Niklas Luhmann's Systems Theory, raising discussions about the intersectional feminist perspective as a possible way of understanding the fragility of the theory that does not explain why, even though they have the means of inclusion, and even as members of the organization, women, especially black women, are excluded. We opted for intersectional feminist critical theory because it allows us to abandon simplistic analyses and break away from the discourse of the "universal woman", which disregards the intersecting oppressions of race, class and gender. To this end, as the research is part of the theoretical field, we adopted the approach of feminist critical theory with the literary review technique, using the theorist Kimberlé Crenshaw as a reference. The results show that intersectional feminist theory is a possible way of understanding the fragility of systems theory, as it fails to take into account the complexity and contingency of intersectionality, transforming the idea of women into a universal figure. INFORMATION technology , *BUSINESS process modeling , *COMPUTER software industry , *COMPUTER software development , *VIRTUAL reality - Abstract
Introduction: In the context of an environment with extensive development of information technology, software development services have been developing widely and spreading in different formats, especially the provision of services from company to company, in the processes of outsourcing and fourth-party services. Objective: The aim of this article is to demonstrate the role of information in process mapping, taking as its object the scenario where companies interact with other companies that provide services through outsourcing and outsourcing of their core business. Methodology: A case study was conducted in a work ecosystem involving a contracting company, an outsourced company and fourth-party service providers for the development of software using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Results: The application of the case study showed how the contracting company interacts with the outsourced companies, demonstrating that the information flows are well structured and do not suffer interference from barriers between the organizations. The BPMN methodology helps to guide the processes and organize the activities, favoring the construction of the project and the achievement of the expected results. Conclusion: The case study showed that the flow of information was very dynamic and organic, with no hierarchical barriers to the flow of information, always carried out in virtual environments, which is also due to the adoption of an agile process management methodology. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) occupy more and more space in organizations' speeches, but their inclusion in the business strategy depends on the creation, or the strengthening, of organizational cultures capable of supporting their execution. Sustainability represents a paradigm change that requires new thoughts and behaviors and it is essential to consider the role of organizations in building new practices that meet society's demands in face of the worsening of global environmental issues. We understand that in order to create cultures of sustainability it is essential to involve the internal public, especially when we consider the implementation of broader strategies, as is the case of the SDGs in the organizational context. Internal communication plays an important role in the processes of cultural change and also has an educational role, especially when we consider digital environments whose impacts are increasingly present in the routine, processes, dynamics and cultures of organizations. Thinking about communication in this context requires considering technological changes and the impacts that the digital environment imposes on communicative and educational processes. Communication acceleration and the centrality of digital networks in a connected society alter not only social relations, but also those with knowledge, expand learning possibilities and reinforce the importance of developing the necessary skills for critical thinking, citizenship and learning throughout life. This article aims to present results of theoretical-empirical research, articulated from an exploratory perspective, which had as its methodological strategy the single case study incorporated with multiple units of analysis. This is a master's level research and in this article we present part of the results that refer to the articulation between media competence and sustainability. The organization chosen for the research is a large company in the services sector that has been on the financial market for over twenty years and works intensively with information and communication. The survey was disseminated through the organization's internal communication channels and 223 people voluntarily participated. For data gathering, an online questionnaire was used, which served not only as an instrument for that purpose, but also as an educational proposal based on the articulation of skills, aiming to raise awareness among the internal public about the SDGs. Dimensions and indicators of media competence (Ferrés & Piscitelli, 2015), competences for sustainability (Unesco, 2017) and their interrelationship with information and media competence indicators (Belluzzo, 2018) were chosen, associated with SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production (Un, 2015). Based on this direction, videos and images associated with SDG 12 were selected and the questions were prepared based on the different indicators of media competence in order to understand the participants' perception of the content from the perspective of reception, appropriation, use and sharing of messages. The research results suggest that the educational proposal developed represents a relevant methodology for training the internal public, as it enables the articulation of different themes of interest to organizations, constituting a proposal that can promote awareness, learning and cultural change, the insertion of the SDGs in the organizational environment in addition to contributing to corporate educational programs. By associating media competence and sustainability to develop educational proposals for the internal public, it is expected to contribute not only to the elucidation of themes related to the SDGs, but above all to favor the critical understanding of informational and symbolic content and stimulate new thoughts and behaviors that go beyond the context of the organization to reflect on the individual's daily experience.

COMMUNICATION in management , *INCLUSION (Disability rights) , *PUBLIC relations , *STRATEGIC planning , *DISABILITIES , *HUMAN resources departments , *FORENSIC psychology - Abstract
The inclusion of people with disabilities in organizations is a unique topic today, especially with the growing attention given to discussions on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I). Although these issues are currently debated, the issue of diversity of bodies and minds, which concerns people with disabilities, has less visibility. Discussions that consider individuals with disabilities as subjects that make up the characterization of human diversity can be found in areas such as Administration, Education, Entertainment, Law and Psychology. However, the absence of the theme in Communication, specifically in the academic and professional field of Public Relations, is noticeable. This professional is responsible for communication between organizations and their most varied stakeholders, including the internal public, that is, employees. These, in turn, may be people with disabilities living in a context of exclusion. Furthermore, Public Relations is understood as an area that, from a social perspective, considers the diversity of interests in relationships and has both a tactical/operational and reflexive role, necessary in modernity. Therefore, this work aims to understand the role of Public Relations and Communication in the inclusion of people with disabilities in organizations, based on the identification and systematization of the approach to this topic in the scientific literature in the area, produced in the last ten years. A bibliographical research was conducted, with a qualitative approach and exploratory-descriptive character. The research technique used was systematic literature review. Initially, a volume of 876 works was collected. Based on the filters applied and the suitability to the theme, a corpus of 20 works was selected from Google Scholar, Scielo and the Capes Periodicals Portal. The selected works are articles published in scientific journals (n=11) and papers presented at conferences (n=9). A considerable frequency of the same Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and authors is not identified. In relation to the methodologies used in the studies, most works adopt a qualitative approach and opt for methods and techniques such as bibliographical research with literature review, in-depth interviews and application of questionnaires. It is clear that scientific production on the role of communication for the inclusion of people with disabilities in organizations is not consolidated in the area of Communication, on the contrary, it is widespread in other areas such as Administration, Management, Human Resources, etc. and, when discussed by Communication authors, it is found in conferences/congresses, as incipient works. The results indicate little mention of Communication and/or Public Relations, however, it is possible to establish a relationship with the roles designated as essential for inclusion with essentially communication and relationship management functions and activities. They are: 1) establishing dialogue to deconstruct stigmas and prejudices against people with disabilities; 2) strategic management of internal communication and how communication processes take place; 3) consideration of accessibility and the use of accessibility features in internal communication channels and fluxes, mainly adaptations and availability of alternative formats of audiovisual products; 4) construction of an inclusive corporate culture, based on the construction and circulation of possible new imaginaries about disability in the workplace. The social and work context in contemporary organizations is permeated by psychological domination and affective management mechanisms, which can be observed in human resources practices that emphasize a way of working with emotions that become a source of control and dominance. These relationships end up compromising the individual’s well-being and causing suffering. In the control of affections, joy tends to be instrumentalized. The individual is encouraged to develop an enthusiastic love for the organization and stimulated by organizational discourse, make it the reason for his life. This study aims to undertake, based on the approach between philosophy and organizational studies, a psychosocial critique of work relations in contemporary organizations, having as its guiding thread the affection of joy, as understood by Espinosa, which serves as our inspiration to better understand this affection. Methodologically, it consists of a theoretical essay, where interdisciplinary discussions from the organizational studies, psychosociology, and philosophy fields, particularly involving Spinoza’s contributions, are intertwined to awaken a critical look at the instrumentalization and manipulation of joy in the organizational context. Joy is seen as a source of intelligent combat, which opposes destructiveness, a source of increasing the individual’s power of action. Such reflections problematized joy both as a power of resistance, capable of helping to confront psychological domination in the world of work and as an object of instrumentalization and control. Furthermore, it was possible to understand joy as a potentializing affection for those who intend to expand their capacity for action and live their lives intensely despite the social determinisms and psychic records that constitute us. New critical research can contribute to giving way to joy not as a manipulation mechanism but as the potential for the possibilities of freedom in hypermodern management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
