A new species, Otiorhynchus (Mongolorrhynchus) altaipilosus Legalov, sp. nov. from South-eastern Russian Altai of Western Siberia is described and illustrated. This species is similar to O. populiger Arnoldi, 1975 from Bayankhongor Province but differs from it in small teeth on the femora, the length of the rostrum is subequal to its width at the base, wider elytra, and the rugose-punctate pronotum. A distribution map for O. altaipilosus Legalov, sp. nov. and O. populiger is given.

Provisional key to species of Otiorhynchus subgenus Anchorrhynchus Most of the females of O. sabbadinii Pesarini, 1985; O. schlaeflini Stierlin, 1861, and O. solariorum Lona, 1922 are almost impossible to determine on the basis of external morphological characters without knowledge of the exact locality. Body oblong-oval integument moderately shiny, dark brown, legs, antennae and tarsi dark brown (Figs 1 a–b). Head. Head and rostrum approximately as long as pronotum (HL+RL/PL 1.06). Rostrum between pterygia and eyes parallel to subparallel-sided, about as long as wide (RL/RW 1.11) and 1.7 times longer than head (RL/HL 1.75), its entire surface with sparse, recumbent whitish setae and moderately broad scales, apex with conspicuous, long whitish-yellowish epistomal setae. Pterygia weakly projecting, epistome surrounded by stout and flat, triangular carina, epistomal angles moderately strongly elevated, epifrons almost parallel-sided, with deep median sulcus, median keel not developed, its entire surface densely and finely microsculptured, slightly wrinkled and covered with large punctures. Around the eyes head with some wrinkles, sulcus covered with elongate whitish bristles and scales directed backwards. Eyes moderately large, convex. Forehead broad, weakly convex, coarsely wrinkled and punctate. Head capsule tapering, interocular pit rounded and deep, vertex moderately convex, finely punctate, interocular distance 2.2 times broader than epifrons at its narrowest point. Scape elongate, thick, almost straight, gradually widened from base toward apex, sparsely covered with thin, elongate and recumbent light brown setae, funicle segments covered with elongate, semierect, yellowish setae, segment 1 moderately long, 2.1 times as long as wide and and 1.41 times longer than segment II, which is about 3.4 times longer than wide. 3 elongate, 4 and 5 isodiametric, 6 and 7 slightly longer than wide, roundish, club shortly oval, covered with dense recumbent, yellowish hairs, basal part covered with sparse, long, erect, yellowish hairs. Pronotum. Wider than long (PL/PW 0.86), widest at anterior third, somewhat angularly rounded, anterior margin almost as wide as the barely rimmed base. Dorsum and sides with moderately dense, large, shiny granules. Granules of the dorsum larger, flattened, irregularly shaped, umbilicate, those on sides smaller, more convex and also umbilicate. The granules with whitish, elongate hairs, interspaces (mainly sides of pronotum) with lanceolate, whitish scales. Elytra. Oval (EL/EW 1.51), widest at anterior third, longitudinally slightly convex, in dorsal view the posterior half slightly tapering, declivity steep to posterior end. Base of elytra as wide as base of pronotum. Dorsum with scattered elongate and lanceolate metallic whitish scales whose apex is partly sharp and partly rounded. Striae weakly developed, hardly visible, punctures shallow, spaces between them longer than punctures, wrinkled, with large, moderately convex granules, the larger ones with hardly visible, short, recumbent, whitish hair-like scale directed toward the apex. Interstriae slightly wider than striae, convex, wrinkled and with larger granules, and also with well-visible whitish, elongate, recumbent setae longer than interspace between them and in regular rows, directed backwards. Legs. Femora with small acute teeth and elongate, whitish hair, tooth of the hind femora the largest. Tibiae stout, dorsal margin of protibiae straight, ventral margin of all tibiae denticulate, inner side with small shiny granules and whitish hair, not widened apically. Apex of all tibiae with blunt, well-developed mucro. Apical setal comb yellow. Protarsomeres 1 and 2 triangular, 3 wide and bilobed, 5 twice as long as 3. Dorsal side of legs covered with elongate, narrow, recumbent pale setae, inner side with longer, semierect to erect pale setae. Venter. Mesanepisternum, metanepisternum, mesepimeron, metaventrite and abdominal ventrites 1-5 covered with moderately dense, convex, pearl-like, umbilicate granules. Venter covered with mixed, relatively dense pale hair and scattered, lanceolate, metallic whitish scales. Ventrites 3-5 without scales, ventrite 5 regularly rounded apically. Male terminalia (Figs 3 p–r, 4 m, o). Pygidium truncate, with dense, short, pale hair at apex and with dense shallow punctures. Spiculum gastrale bilobed, almost straight (Fig. 4 m). Penis strong (Figs 3 p–q), median lobe evenly tapering to distal fifth, apically narrowly truncate (Fig. 3 r), shorter than apodemes. In lateral view (Fig. 3 q) widened to basal half. Internal sack with basal sclerite. Tegminal ring (Fig. 4 o) oval, with long parameres. Female (Figs 1 c–d). Similar to male; body slightly wider. Antennal segment 1 more slender than in male, 2.85 times as long as wide and shorter than segment 2 (ratio segments 2/1: 1.25), segment 2 is about 3.6 times as long as wide, 3-5 isodiametric, 6 transverse and 7 isodiametric, bell-shaped. Ventrites 1-3 coarsely punctate. Protarsomeres 1 and 2 distinctly narrower than in male. Female genitalia (Figs 5 a, c). Sternite 8 stout, apical margin of apodeme excised out triangularly, sclerotised, with several long sensillae at apex (Fig. 5 a). Spermatheca with long, stout C-shaped cornu, with acute apex, ramus smaller, collum short (Fig. 5 c). Ovipositor with small styli and long sensillae. Variability. Male: BL: 8.6–9.0 (average 8.7), BW: 3.3–3.9 (average 3.6), BH: 2.7–3.1 (average 2.9). Females BL: 8.2–9.6 (average 8.9), BW: 3.6–4.4 (average 4.0), BH: 2.8–3.2 (average 3.0). The specimens examined are morphologically variable. The sulcus of the epifrons is slightly variable; some specimens have a shallow sulcus. Antennal segment 4 is occasionally slightly longer than quoted above. The majority of specimens have teardropshaped to lanceolate pinkish-greenish scales with a metallic shine, but sometimes the body is almost devoid of scales. Hind tibiae of some males are strikingly stout and have a longitudinal groove on the inner side. The body colour is often brown to dark-brown, possibly for specimens which are freshly emerged. Remarks and comparative notes. Otiorhynchus pseudoschlaeflini is a long-known species that was mistakenly identified as O. schlaeflini (Figs 2 a–b) based on Reitter (1914). All specimens treated above originate from Peloponnesos, whereas Stierlin (1861) described O. schlaeflini from Janina (at present Ioannina) in Epirus. Thus, the identification key provided by Reitter (1914) does not allow for recognizing the true O. schlaeflini. This problem has already been indicated by Lona (1922, 1937), who in these overlooked papers mentioned the differences in the key and descriptions provided by Stierlin and Reitter while comparing Peloponnesian examples to typical specimens of the Stierlin collection. From similar species within Anchorrhynchus (Otiorhynchus beieri Penecke, 1935, O. parnassius Apfelbeck, 1922, O. subfilum Reitter, 1884), O. pseudoschlaeflini differs from O. beieri in larger, stronger convex granules, and stronger wrinkles, longitudinally more convex elytra, whereas the above mentioned species have elytra less elongate, almost smooth, longitudinally flat and scarcely wrinkled. Otiorhynchus pseudoschlaeflini is easily distinguishable from O. subfilum based on external morphology since this new species has elytral striae less developed so as to be hardly visible, punctures shallow, wrinkled spaces between them longer than the diameter of the punctures and with larger moderately convex granules, interstriae slightly wider than striae, convex and wrinkled, whereas O. subfilum has punctures in the elytral striae that are subquadratic, interspaces shorter than diameter of the punctures, with small flat hardly visible granules, scarcely wrinkled interstriae with larger granules. In addition, O. pseudoschlaeflini differs from O. subfilum in the oblong-oval body shape and in the shape of the penis which is longer, tapering and narrowly truncate, whereas in O. subfilum the body shape is more elongate and the penis is widely truncate. Otiorhynchus parnassius differs from O. pseudoschlaeflini by the elytra with irregular strial punctures, surface strongly wrinkled with well-developed granules and raised setae, whereas in O. pseudoschlaeflini the elytra show shallow barely developed punctures, surface with weakly developed wrinkles, moderately convex larger granules and recumbent elytral setae. Moreover, elytra of O. pseudoschlaeflini are longitudinally somewhat convex in contrast with the flat elytra of O. parnassius. Distribution. Peloponnesos, Greece. Etymology. (1 ♂, 1 ♀, PCVS, 4 ♂♂, 1 ♀, PCAP). Description. Male holotype. Body length 5.4 mm. Body elongate, integument shiny, head black, pronotum dark brown, elytra brownish-black, legs and antennae reddish-brown (Figs 1 e–f). Head. Head and rostrum approximately as long as pronotum (HL+RL/PL 0.97), rostrum moderately stout, between pterygia and eyes subparallel-sided, slightly longer than wide (RL/RW 1.16), 1.9 times longer than head, entire rostral surface with moderately dense, recumbent, elongate, intermixed metallic greenish-yellowish-pinkish hair-like setae, apex with sparse, short, yellowish epistomal setae. Pterygia strongly projecting, epistome moderately densely and shallowly punctate, surrounded by flat, scarcely visible, semicircular carina, epistomal angles moderately strongly elevated, as a result small horns developed, dorsal wall weakly punctate with conspicuous longitudinal keel. Epifrons parallel-sided, with shallow, almost flat median sulcus, median keel not developed, median sulcus covered with moderately dense large punctures and elongate, intermixed yellowish-pinkish bristles with metallic shine directed backwards, around eyes scarcely wrinkled. Eyes large, moderately convex, forehead relatively broad, almost flat, moderately densely and coarsely punctate, weakly wrinkled. Head capsule elongate, tapering and with scarcely visible interocular pit, vertex moderately convex, finely punctate, interocular distance 2.28 times as wide as epifrons at its narrowest point. Scape moderately stout, slightly curved, gradually widened from base toward apex, sparsely covered with thin, elongate and recumbent golden setae, funicle segments covered with elongate, semierect, pale brown setae, segment 1 stout, 1.83 times as long as wide and a bit longer than segment 2 (1.18 times longer than segment 2), which is 2.6 times longer than wide, 3 elongate, 4–7 wider than long, more globose, club oblong-oval, covered with dense whitish recumbent hairs, basal part with sparse, longer, erect, pale brown hairs. Pronotum. As long as wide (PL/PW 1.02), widest in middle, regularly rounded. Disc covered with dense fairly coarse punctures, interspaces broad, flat, shiny, slightly confluent. Sides of pronotum with quite flat, small, umbilicate granules. The granules on the sides and punctures on the dorsum with elongate, intermixed metallic greenish-yellowish-pinkish hair, interspaces of the granules on the sides and posterior margin of the dorsum with elongate, intermixed metallic greenish-yellowish-pinkish scales. Elytra. Elongate 1.77 times longer than wide, widest at anterior third, longitudinally flat, steeply declined to posterior end. Base as wide as base of pronotum. Striae well-visible, punctures deep, rounded, interspaces shorter than punctures diameter, with flat, hardly visible granules. Each puncture with hardly visible, short, recumbent, whitish hair directed backwards, interspaces with granules and moderately dense scales. Scales fairly broad, apically pointed to truncate, intermixed greenish-yellowish-pinkish with metallic lustre. Interstriae clearly narrover than striae, slightly convex, with small, almost flat granules. Granules of the sides and posterior half more convex, scarcely wrinkled, on the dorsum with well-visible recumbent, hair-like, metallic yellowish setae directed backwards in regular rows, longer than interspaces between them. Legs. Femora moderately stout, profemora scarcely swollen, with small, acute teeth and with metallic yellowish, hair-like setae. Tibiae moderately stout, dorsal margin of protibiae straight, ventral margin scarcely arched and denticulate, slightly widened at apex. Apex of all tibiae with acute mucro, and metallic whitish-yellowish hair-like setae, mainly ventral margin of hind tibiae with scattered, small granules. Apical setal comb yellow. Protarsomeres 1-2 triangular, 3 wide and bilobed, shorter than 1 and 2 combined, 5 almost 2 times as long as 3. Venter. Mesanepisternum finely microsculptured and with sparse, shallow punctures, metanepisternum, mesepimeron, metaventrite and abdominal ventrites 1-5 covered with scattered, small flat, hardly visible granules, scarcely punctate. Abdominal ventrites 2-5 densely and shallowly punctate. Venter covered with relatively dense, intermixed metallic yellowish-greenish-pinkish hair and narrow, elongate scales. Ventrite 5 regularly rounded apically. Male terminalia (Figs 4 j–l, n, p). Pygidium truncate, with dense, short, pale hair at apex and with dense shallow punctures. Spiculum gastrale almost straight (Fig. 4 n). Penis relatively slender (Figs 4 j–k), median lobe subparallel-sided, slightly tapering along apical third (Fig. 4 l), about as long as apodemes. In lateral view (Fig. 4 k) widened to basal half. Internal sack with basal sclerite. Tegminal-ring (Fig. 4 p) oval, with fairly short parameres, manubrium slightly curved, laterally scarcely flattened, about as long as apodeme of median lobe. Female (Figs 1 g –h). Very similar to male, the body scarcely larger, legs and protarsomeres 1-3 slightly narrower. Female genitalia (Figs 5 b, d). 8 th sternite narrow, apodeme slender, apical margin excised out triangularly, sclerotised, with several long sensillae at apex (Fig. 5 b). Spermatheca fairly stout, with short, C-shaped cornu apically pointed, ramus small, collum short (Fig. 5 d). Ovipositor with long styli and long sensillae. Variability. Male: BL: 5.1–6.2 (average 5.5), BW: 1.9–2.2 (average 2.0), BH: 1.5–1.7 (average 1.6). Female: BL: 4.8–5.7 (average 5.2), BW: 1.8–2.2 (average 2.0), BH: 1.4–1.6 (average 1.5). The specimens examined are morphologically quite uniform although their colour is quite variable, often with the whole body brown, probably due to specimens being freshly emerged. Only occasionally are specimens are entirely black. Occasionally, the interspaces of punctures on the pronotal disc appear as irregular fairly large and fairly convex umbilicate granules. Remarks and comparative notes. Otiorhynchus roznerantii clearly differs from other species of Anchorrhynchus with an impunctate pronotum. A few specimens of O. roznerantii which display an irregularly granulate pronotal disc differ from similar species (Otiorhynchus endroedii, O. maderi maderi, O. maderi dajtitensis, O. muellerorum) in the structure of antennae: funicle segments 4-7 which in O. roznerantii are transverse whereas in O. endroedii segments 3-4 are elongate, 5 isodiametric, 6-7 elongate; in O. maderi maderi segment 3 is elongate, 4 isodiametric, 5 transverse, and 6-7 isodiametric; in O. muellerorum funicle segments 3-7 are elongate. Otiorhynchus maderi dajtitensis differs in a glabrous, or almost glabrous body. Distribution. Greece, North-Macedonia. Etymology. A new species, Otiorhynchus (Mongolorrhynchus) ivanovi Legalov, sp. nov. from Central Russian Altai of Western Siberia is described and illustrated. This species is similar to O. rectipilosus from Altai but differs from it in the profemora with obtuse tooth, curved pronotal sides and weakly rugose pronotum. A map and a key for identifying species from the subgenus Mongolorrhynchus are given.

Russian Altai of Western Siberia is described and illustrated. This species is similar to O. janovskii Korotyaev, 1990 but differs from it in the long decumbent setae on the elytra, larger teeth on the femora, wider rostrum and weakly narrowed apex of the aedeagus. Otiorhynchus altaicus Stierlin, 1861, syn. nov. is synonymous to Otiorhynchus (Podonebistus) bardus Boheman, 1842. A key for identifying species from the subgenus Podonebistus from Altai and adjacent territories is given.

Lectotype of the southern Siberian Otiorhynchus (Pseudocryphiphorus) pullus Gyllenhal is designated and a closely related new species Otiorhynchus (Pseudocryphiphorus) matisi sp. n. from the left bank of the Irtysh River in Northeastern Kazakhstan or, less probably, in Omsk Province of Russia, is described.

A new species, Otiorhynchus (Stupamacus) yakovlevi Legalov, sp. nov. from Western Siberia is described and illustrated. This new species is most similar to O. scintillus but differs from it in a slender body, sparsely punctation of pronotum, less rounded, and finer punctate elytral interstriae. A map with localities of newly described species is added. A key for identifying species from the subgenus Stupamacus from Altai is also included.

Forty species are found in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, 84 species in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, 313 species in Tyumen Oblast, 182 species in Chelyabinsk Oblast, 129 species in Kurgan Oblast, 172 species in Omsk Oblast, 299 species in Tomsk Oblast, 439 species in Novosibirsk Oblast, 324 species in Kemerovo Oblast, 356 species in Altay Krai, 296 species in Altai Republic, 182 species in Krasnoyarsk Krai, 114 species in Republic of Khakassia, 244 species in Tyva Republic, 283 species in Irkutsk Oblast, 239 species in Buryatiya Republic, 286 species in Zabaikalskii Krai, 153 species in Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, 74 species in Far East: Kamchatka Oblast, 43 species in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, 105 species in Magadan Oblast, 325 species in Amur Oblast, 312 species in Khabarovsk Krai, 599 species in Primorsky Krai, 225 species in Sakhalin Is. and 218 species in Kuriles Isl. 112 species are excluded from the fauna of Siberia and the Russian Far East. Species composition, the ecological structure and the occurrence characteristics of weevils (Curculionoidea) in the stratobios of the main urban habitats of Kharkiv were studied. 59 species from 41 genera and three families were registered. Curculionoidea comprises 31.5% of the coleopterofauna of stratobios. Approximately 10 species are attributed to dominants (2–3 species are eudominants). 40 species are ranked as random and 9 species are rare. 4 species of Curculionoidea (Cyanapion columbinum, Curculio rubidus, Otiorhynchus albidus, Tropiphorus micans) are recorded for the first time in the Left bank forest-steppe zone of Ukraine. The values of the main indices of species diversity were low, which may indicate a significant oligodominance of Curculionoidea in all urban habitats. Most of species are herba- and dendrobionts (14–17), but almost all of them are registered as random (27) or rare (4) elements. 26 species associated with stratobios (among which most dominants elements are recorded). Species associated with meadows (21) and forests, or eurytopic species (14) are dominants in the samples; by trophic links – oligo- (32) and polyphagous species (24 ) were prevailed. 45 species prefer mesophilic habitats. The number of eurytopic mesophilous polyphagous stratogeobionts were maximal. The largest number of species (25–33) were documented in vegetation of the outskirts and household plots of city compared to the city parks and plantings of the center (18–19), but minimumly (12) in forest. The spectrum of ecological groups was also minimal in a forest, but the maximum is in the plantings of periphery and household plots of the city. Faunistic similarity was slightly more than 0.20, which may indicate specific and significant differences in the species composition of weevils in different urban habitats of Kharkiv.

This paper presents the results of research carried out in pistachio plantations in the provinces of Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo (Castilla – La Mancha Region), which led to the discovery of eight Curculionidae species from five genera (Brachyderes, Otiorhynchus, Polydrusus, SitonaandLixus) of two subfamilies (ENTIMINAE and LIXINAE).Brachyderes marginellus, B. pubescens, Polydrusus subglaber, Otiorhynchus cribricollisandLixus acicularishave been observed feeding onP. veraleaves, and they are recorded for the first time in this host plant.Polydrusus subglaberandOtiorhynchus cribricollisfed intensively in these leaves and further research on these species is recommended as they may represent important pistachio defoliators in the region. Two new subgenera of the genus Otiorhynchus Germar, 1822 are described: Prohanibotus Savitsky, subgen. n. (the type species: O. auripes Stierlin, 1875) and Parahanibotus Savitsky, subgen. n. (the type species: O. mazdaranicus Magnano, 2006). New data on the taxonomy and distribution of some little-known species of the subgenera Hanibotus Reitter, 1912 and Parahanibotus subgen. n. are presented.

Additional information is given on previously unknown localities of the invasive species Otiorhynchus rotundus Mars., O. smreczynskii Cmoluch, O. sulcatus (F.), and O. ovalipennis Boh. (first recorded from Belarus), damaging lilacs (Syringa L.) in Belarus.

A new genus of Entiminae, an endogean weevil of the tribe Otiorhynchini, Giavarhynchus Bellò, Osella & Ruzzier, gen. n., and its type species Giavarhynchus amicorum Bellò, Osella & Ruzzier, sp. n. are described. The new taxon is readily distinguished from all other members of the tribe due to the unique combination of lack of eyes, elongate rostrum with a ventral transverse furrow and excised lateral margins located at apical third, punctation of pronotum of two distinct sizes arranged in a distinctive pattern, interval 7 of elytra protruding from base of pronotum and crenulate basally, metafemora bearing a spine-like tooth much larger than that of pro- and mesofemora, female tibiae granulate on inner margin, bisinuous mesotibiae. The following synonymy is proposed: Nematocerus Reiche, 1849 (= Cyrtozemia Pascoe, 1872, syn. n.; = Holcorhinosoma Voss, 1939, syn. n.). New combinations are: Nematocerus cognatus (Marshall, 1916), comb. n.; Nematocerus dispar (Pascoe, 1872), comb. n.; Nematocerus pilipes (Morimoto, 2015), comb. n., all from Cyrtozemia; Nematocerus subtuberculatus (Voss, 1939), comb. n. from Holcorhinosoma. New tribal placement is: Pseudocratopus Hustache, 1921 from Otiorhynchini to Peritelini. New subgeneric placement is that of Otiorhynchus deceptorius Białooki, Germann & Pelletier, 2017 and of Otiorhynchus incisirostris Białooki, Germann & Pelletier, 2017 from Otiorhynchus (Lixorrhynchus) Reitter, 1914 to Otiorhynchus (Aranihus) Reitter, 1912.
