Archaeological research on palaces and architectural spaces related to power factions allow a better understanding of the social dynamics of political economies. Several types of palaces appear in Mesoamerica according to distinct forms of sociopolitical organization. For Tlaxcallan, a Late Postclassic (A.D. 1250/1300–1519) geopolitical state-level polity with a highly collective government, the existence of palaces has been questioned. We reconsider the existence of palaces in Tlaxcallan through the contextual analysis of an architectural complex (CA-2) of Tepeticpac, one of the sectors of the conurbated area. We evaluate the functionality of CA-2 as a palace by examining the processes of occupation and abandonment of the building in relation to its architectural and stratigraphic sequence and the type of associated artifacts. The comparison between archaeological and historical data indicate that Tlaxcallans probably had palaces, but they were less ostentatious compared to others found in societies with more centralized governments. This study of the openings in ancient Egyptian residential architecture, which is limited survival monuments we have to, describes precisely what it was when compared to funerary and religious architecture, was a fleeting plant and clay architecture that was unreliable to survive. As a result of his strong belief in life after death and that it is the longest and eternal surviving life, this is reflected in his interest in the immortality of religious and funerary buildings. And yet I got his attention in study and design and it contained important symbolic values, this prompted us to look for the models that the ancient Egyptian left behind to help complete the design image. and looking for different factors behind the different design of windows and doors from place to place, Hence, the study aims to describe and analyse the openings in ancient Egyptian architecture in terms of windows, entrances and doors because of their aesthetic and functional importance, as well as their symbolic values. in addition to its expression in the ancient Egyptian language and what the words refer to and its association with the form expressed in hieroglyphic writing, As the location of the openings varies, their role and design differs in terms of the elements and foundations of the design used in each of them, and what is actually expressed in some graphic shapes by comparing them to the real models that have been found, though fewer in number. As an attempt to get a picture that comes close to perfection and truth whenever possible, the study will be based on the work that describes the façades of palaces as in the Horsi name of kings and the depiction of houses and palaces on the walls of graves or papyri and some of the few models that survived to tell us what these vents were like, With description and analysis, it is possible to determine the design data, what the designer has achieved, its relevance to the nature of the building used, the symbols used and their connotations, and the interpretation of some shapes and materials.

- Abstract
City life which is one of the most important indicators of civilization emerged in the East. In the history of civilization, as of the formation of the first cities and states in Mesopotamia, examples of monumental architecture began to be constructed. After the temples, which were the first monumental architectural examples, the second monumental structures were palaces. Apart from being the structures where rulers resided with their families, they were also used as the administrative center of the state. Warehouse-treasury sections where tax and war spoils were kept, workshops of craftsmen, units serving official offices, barns, kitchens and throne halls were the most important units of the Eastern palaces. Considering the existing palace plans since the Sumerians till the Ottomans, it is seen that the palaces in the Eastern societies followed a certain architectural tradition. Palaces have been developed in the form of complexes surrounded by city walls, in gardens, placed in different locations, connected to each other by courtyards and corridors, with monumental gates, and as units where passages are limited in some parts. The aforementioned arrangement followed a similar development scheme in the East for about 5 thousand years. This situation was not only seen in the architectural arrangement, but also reflected in the palace organization. The formation of palaces as an organization and the duties of palace officials were also similar. In the article, the Adilcevaz-Kef Castle (Kef City) Palace, which belonged to the Urartian establishing a state centered in Eastern Anatolia between between 9 and 7 BC, and Topkapı Palace have been examined by comparing their similarities in terms of architectural formation in the Eastern palace tradition. Before both palaces, the examples of the palaces built in the East were given and their plan features were mentioned. As a result of the political, economic and cultural domination of the West against the East, Topkapi Palace, one of the symbolic structures of the Eastern palace tradition in the Ottoman Empire, was abandoned in the 19th century. With the Dolmabahce Palace, built in the Western style, the Eastern palace architectural arrangement was abandoned, and a Western type of architecture and organization was adopted. - Abstract
In 1781, a book discussing the relationship between cats and dogs was published in Lisbon. Among the illustrations, there is a representation of a palace, more precisely the Marquess of Ponte de Lima palace in Mafra, Portugal. This illustration reveals how this space was lived and felt not only by the observer but also by all the human and non-human agents that circulated and existed in this space. The palace still exists, it is a public building, and 241 years later, we, as archaeologists, visited the palace. We observed its architecture, touched its walls, and heard how sound would propagate, trying to use our senses to feel the space. After the visit, we sat down and discussed how we perceived the place. We then returned to the late eighteenth-century representation and debated how visual stimulation can provoke a sensorial experience of a place we never smelled or listened to. This paper aims to debate whether we can use past representations of still-existing spaces to understand how different agents effectively reacted to different environments and how those representations influenced the way we engage with such spaces. This book addresses the reception of Islamic visual culture by the northern Iberian kingdoms, by systematically comparing works of art from both sides and fleshing out their historical context. This study includes figurative and iconographic motifs, architectural forms, and even the spolia from constructions and Arabic inscriptions that were embedded in Christian buildings. The Islamic visual culture of al-Andalus was often transformed as it was recreated by Christian hands, bringing to the fore various nuances in the relationship between the two religious communities. Artistic transfer was conditioned by social coexistence between Christians and Muslims—both in the caliphate al-Andalus and in the northern realms—and military conflict. To approach the different ways in which Andalusi visual culture was received in the northern kingdoms, while embracing the vast diversity of case studies available, this book is divided into three thematic sections: Reinterpretation, Appropriation, and Artistic Transfers. This book will be of interest to scholars working in art history, visual culture, and medieval studies.

PATRONAGE , *PALACES - Abstract
In this study, five Khalwati dervish lodges built in İstanbul in the sixteenth century are discussed. What makes these dervish lodges privileged is that they were either built in the garden of the palace/mansion or very close to it. With this study, it is aimed to make sense of the presence of dervish lodge and palace in the nearby places and to examine the relationship between the patron and sheikh from multidimensional perspective. By undertaking construction of these dervish lodges in the palace garden or very close to it, the patrons wanted to further reinforce their intimacy with the Khalwatis and make it clear that they were from the Khalwati order. The fact that the tombs and graves of the mentioned patrons in the dervish lodges were another proof of these issues. The fact that the patrons' location the dervish lodge structure and their inhabitants so close to it, should reflect the desire to give more space to religious and mystic elements in their daily lives. - Abstract
Andalusia is a region that remained under Muslim rule for approximately eight centuries and holds significance as it is situated in European territory. Although Andalusia, where Eastern and Western civilizations were merged and Muslims, Christians and Jews lived together for centuries, is remembered with painful events in Islamic History, it left its mark on the history of civilization with its scientific, literary, architectural and artistic heritage. The Christians’ aim of the reconquista, which continued for centuries, reached its goal with the fall of Granada in 1492. Although this legacy from the Muslims was relatively preserved in the early times, starting from the 16th century, thousands of architectural works were destroyed with the ambition to erase Muslim traces completely from Andalusia. The few buildings that remain today in the cities of Cordoba, Seville, Malaga and Granada show us how advanced Andalusia was in architecture and arts. One of the most important works of Andalusian art and architecture are palaces. Palaces stand out as crucial works in Andalusian art and architecture, serving as both the private residence of rulers and their families and the administrative centers for state affairs. Palace architecture has been given importance because its aesthetic and artistic features reflect the cultural, civilizational and artistic characteristics of the state it represents, as well as its political and economic power. In this study, lesser-known palace structures of Andalusia such as Zaragoza Aljafaria Palace, Murcia Dar al Sughra, Granada Daralhorra, Malaga Alcazaba, Seville Alcazar will be described. - Abstract
The topic of the current research is “The effect of cottage and palace life on people (people and society) from the perspective of Imam Khomeini.” The purpose of the research is to examine, from the perspective of Imam Khomeini, the nature and manner of living in cottages and palaces, as well as their impact on social life and human behavior. A qualitative approach and “documentary analysis” constitute the research methodology. In order to conduct research, the focus is on primary sources, which are the foundation of the research’s validity. The research demonstrates that in Islamic societies, palatialism and palatial architecture are corrupting and detrimental to society. Because it creates social distance, general mistrust, a weakened sense of solidarity and social cohesion, a sense of injustice, and ultimately social conflict. But the cottage style is distinct in addition to fostering solidarity, cohesion, and trust in the society, it lays the groundwork for more participation, since the purpose of every action and participation is to please God. As a result, in addition to motivating the activist, it promotes the reproduction of more participation and activity in the service of the community. The results indicate that a society with a nomadic spirit is stable and will grow and develop, and that enemies cannot harm the society during crises such as wars, seditions, and sabotage because the people and government, as a cohesive whole, reject and repel any strike . The main objective of the article is to present a picture of the early medieval city through hagiographic works. The article presents the places (prison, squares) associated with the activities of the saints. These places in the urban environment are mentioned in connection with the torture and murder of saints, which conveys them a special meaning. It was the hagiographic literature that reflected the gradual decline in the role of the prison in the Middle Ages, where the punishment is served in a form hidden from the eyes of the inhabitants, and the strengthening of the role of the execution place, where the punishment is carried out publicly and in especially cruel forms, with the aim of intimidating and suppressing the audience, binding the active and passive participants in this action with mutual responsibility. In the early Middle Ages, ideas about death changed, the dead, as it were, settled in the city of the living. Certainly, first of all, it is about the grand martyrs, the saints tortured to death became the heavenly patrons of the city. At that, in the Armenian and Georgian hagiography, not only the relics of the saints were sacralized, but also the places of their execution. Hagiographic principles of this particular project about the internal environment of cities Connected by a chain wall. In the center of early-century Armenia, located in the Dvina, in its Central Square, the beginning of the VI century. the social environment of the creation of people arose. Here, after the revival of the palace of the Persian Amarkar, in all likelihood, there was a lack of freedom in the Constitutional Rule of individual situations. The best example of cooperation was the fire that broke out in the aforementioned palace of the Persian Аmarkar, when the Armenians, according to a preliminary agreement, rushed to help.

Architecture is a complex cultural trait that lends itself to the analytical methods developed for cultural transmission theory. We analyze a dataset of palace structures that gives insight into horizontal transmission processes between Sudan, Egypt, and the Near East during the Meroitic and Greco-Roman time periods. High similarity between buildings in the same region suggests that building activities required social coordination between builders, as predicted by cultural transmission theory. Similarity in the expression of coating layers and coating thickness both within and across regions also confirms that the iconicity of palaces correlates with the dominance of prestige bias during transmission. Finally, similarity in bricks, mortar, and coating ingredients between buildings in the same region, but significant variation across regions, confirms the prediction that building materials are locally sourced. Results establish a baseline of horizontal transmission for architecture more generally, contrasting traits associated with the outer appearance of buildings, versus those less visible and related to construction design. Additional studies of different regions or with a diachronic perspective may show if hypotheses about the cultural transmission of architecture can be generalized across time and space.

Some of the ancient Algerian cities represent purely historical landmarks that highlight the historical backgrounds of successive civilizations, and with the observed variation in the climatic zones that resulted in the emergence of desert palaces, and are a living example of human adaptation and adaptation to the peculiarities of the region in which they grew up, The palaces are a cultural heritage that reflects the effects of past generations and an urban heritage that expresses to a large degree the specificity that distinguishes the population from the interdependence, values and customs, among these palaces is Al-Shalala Dhahrania. Palace as a stand-alone example through the episodes of history, which represents the first nucleus of its development and emergence. However, what is noticeable about this urban pattern is that it is witnessing great deterioration and neglect due to many changes, some of which are climatic and some of which are due to the random intervention of humans, which in turn affected the specificities of the region. The article is the first attempt to summarize the issue of color in the Renaissance architecture of Silesia. The introduction outlines the purpose of the article; the architectural context of princely residences, noble and patrician houses, and public utility buildings; and also, the timescale of the Renaissance in Silesia. The basis for examining color schemes was the conducted architectural research, in which, in many cases, the authors participated personally. They included the analysis of technology, building materials, and architectural details, as well as stratigraphic studies of plasterwork and paint layers. As a result of the carried-out analysis, two basic color schemes were specified. One involves contrasting smoothly painted plaster with brightly painted architectural details, and the other consists in covering the entire surface of walls with a network of thin stripes that imitate squares. Both color schemes were present in two different versions - with the use of either two or three colors, with the most common being: white, red, ocher, black and gray. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

India’s Princely States covered nearly 40 per cent of the Indian subcontinent at the time of Indian independence, and they collapsed after the departure of the British. This book provides a chronological analysis of the Princely State in colonial times and its post-colonial legacies. Focusing on one of the largest and most important of these states, the Princely State of Mysore, it offers a novel interpretation and thorough investigation of the relationship of king and subject in South Asia. The book argues that the denial of political and economic power to the king, especially after 1831 when direct British control was imposed over the state administration in Mysore, was paralleled by a counter-balancing multiplication of kingly ritual, rites, and social duties. The book looks at how, at the very time when kingly authority was lacking income and powers of patronage, its local sources of power and social roots were being reinforced and rebuilt in a variety of ways. Using a combination of historical and anthropological methodologies, and based upon substantial archival and field research, the book argues that the idea of kingship lived on in South India and continues to play a vital and important role in contemporary South Indian social and political life.

In order to study the dynamic response of timber frame in Song Dynasty palace under horizontal acceleration, a series of nonlinear time-history analysis FE models were estallihed. The parameter analysis of the timber frame in Song Dynasty palace by peak horizontal acceleration and column bottom friction coefficient was conducted. The results show that there are four dynamic responses of the timber frame in Song Dynasty palace: rest, slide, pure-rocking, and slide-rocking. The overall slide of the column of timber frame in Song Dynasty paplace only occurs when the friction coefficient of the column bottom is less than the diameter-to-height ratio; When the friction coefficient of column bottom is greater than the diameter-to-height ratio, the column rock mechanism changes from flexible bending to rigid body rocking. The slip values and rotation values of two column are consistent in FE models.

- Abstract
The palace of the Urríes in Ayerbe (Huesca) is a modern manor house which, despite its historical and artistic value, has hardly been studied or even visited and is unknown both to researchers and to the public. The aim of this work is to compile, review and increase the knowledge generated about this building and to disseminate it, with the aim of generating a series of activities that will lead to the protection of a building that is currently in a precarious state of conservation. The consultation of documentary, graphic and bibliographic sources has been combined with the analysis of the building, for which techniques such as photography and the generation of 3D models from photogrammetry have been used. With all this, a new dating is proposed that starts from the only document preserved and takes into account the formal characteristics of the building, but also the local historical context, the position and character of its main promoter, its uses, functions and the audience to which it is addressed. On the other hand, based on the analysis of the graphic sources, the evolution suffered by the building in modern times has been verified, paying special attention to the alterations of the original building that have led to the current configuration of the building, to be able to understand the remains that we currently possess. The remains of the Renaissance house today form part of a building that is really a palimpsest, built at very different times, by different promoters and for different uses.

- Abstract
Se trata de un documento con valor patrimonial propio, imprescindible para entender y conservar un palacio incluido en la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO., Among the first drawings of the construction of the Palace of Charles V in the Alhambra, a remarkable anonymous trace is preserved at the Royal Library in Madrid illustrating the edifice and various arcaded squares. The drawing process of this document, together with technical aspects such as its scale and dimensions have been analyzed in the present work. To this aim, the trace has been researched, digitalized, and its incised lines transcribed for the first time. Its analysis unveils the original floor plan, revealing significant and primordial design intentions. The plan dimensions, proportions and consistency with the final construction provides new evidence on its purpose and dating. All this confirms this piece to be the first architectural drawing known of the building, dictating its definite shape and dimensions. A document with its own heritage value, essential to understand and preserve a palace part of UNESCO World Heritage List., Entre os primeiros desenhos para a construção do palácio de Carlos V na Alhambra, conserva-se um importante esboço anónimo na Real Biblioteca de Madrid, que representa o edifício mais algumas praças com arcadas. This research reveals significant and previously unknown details on the auxiliary lines and geometrical drawing of the Charles V Palace in the Alhambra, preserved at the National Historical Archive. A precise digital reproduction has made possible to formulate a hypothesis about the drawing process and discover some previous sketches of this major graphic legacy of the Early Spanish Renaissance. All this, together with the dimensional comparison with other famous drawings of the palace and data of the lost model, brings new evidence on its purpose, date and authorship, matters which still today are subject to discussion. The aim of this research is to answer questions about the history of wrestling, how it was interpreted by local sports historians and how it was institutionalized during the Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans, who gave great importance to wrestling and wrestlers, had traditional institutions that could surpass the contemporary club phenomenon. A descriptive research and comparison model, which is one of the designs included in the qualitative approach, was used in the study. The research of M. Turkmen, the subject expert, was taken to the centre of the study and the research was limited to the Ottoman period. We conclude that wrestling was the first sport that was formatted and institutionalized by the Ottoman Empire with the knowledge it carried from its predecessor Turkic states; it has been generally understood that it is mostly organized with its institutions called Wrestling Lodges. Specifically, the institutionalization of wrestling in the Ottoman Empire increased the power of this sport. Wrestling in the Ottoman palaces seemed to be part of military training rather than a sports format until the middle of the fifteenth century. Subsequently, wrestling has been equated with worship and transformed into a sports discipline with a mystical education in wrestling lodges. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COVENANTS (Christianity) , *COVENANT theology - Abstract
The current consensus among evangelical scholars dates the Davidic covenant to the end of David's life. This article challenges that theory by presenting evidence from the biblical text demonstrating that the Davidic covenant was made in the first half of David's reign. This proposal is supported by a reference in the covenant to Solomon's birth being in the future and by the comment on Michal's childlessness. Arguments for dating the covenant late in David's life are considered and rejected. The primary reason for placing the covenant in David's final decade is the dates given by Josephus for Hiram's reign, but this evidence is not as strong as is usually assumed. Ultimately, an earlier date for the Davidic covenant is not only required by the biblical evidence, but it also provides David with extended time to reflect upon the covenant's significance in writing psalms that foretold the Messiah's suffering and glory. The researcher's experience of studying chanoyu for one year at Urasenke Kyoto became a stimulus to compare Chanoyu tea serving ceremony and tea serving ceremony in Yogyakarta Palace. Up to this time, the tea serving ceremony in Yogyakarta Palace has never been opened to the public, unlike the worldwide Chanoyu tea serving ceremony, a particular school has even been opened to study chanoyu. With this phenomenon, researchers are interested in examining further to compare the two tea serving ceremonies. The method used is descriptive qualitative with literature study, field observation, and interview. The results show that tea used in chanoyu was called powdered matcha, while in Yogyakarta Palace it was 2 Tang powder tea. The utensil in chanoyu is free to choose according to the guests and the season. At the same time, in Yogyakarta palace, it has become the rule and only for families in Yogyakarta Palace. The philosophical meaning of chanoyu is related to the harmony seen in the interaction between participants, as well as between utensil and seasons, while tea serving in Yogyakarta Palace begins with the service of Abdi Dalem to his king. Both of them have similarities in the presentation that must follow the patent rules.
