This article examines the relationship between firm characteristics and accounting information disclosure in the banking sector in Nigeria. The study analyzes the annual reports of eleven top banks over a five-year period and develops a disclosure checklist consisting of 137 voluntary items. The findings show that age and international exposure have a positive significant relationship with accounting information disclosure, while profitability and size have a negative significant relationship. The study recommends increasing accounting information sharing to enhance public perception and confidence in banks' activities. Additionally, the article emphasizes the importance of accounting information disclosure for stakeholders and suggests further research on risk and reputational cost in this area.

LITERATURE reviews , *SOCIAL responsibility of business , *STAKEHOLDER theory , *ORGANIZATIONAL legitimacy , *SUSTAINABLE development reporting , *SUSTAINABLE development - Abstract
Objective: This study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric and literature review to describe the origin and content of research on corporate sustainability reporting in Latin America published in journals indexed in the SCOPUS, WoS, SCIELO, and REDIB databases on corporate sustainability reporting in Latin America and to contribute to its theoretical development and promote the performance and disclosure of sustainability in the region. Methodology: The comprehensive bibliometric and literature review used a quantitative and qualitative approach, with a descriptive scope through a content analysis of the papers' origin and nature according to the established qualitative categories. Originality/Relevance: The research contributes to increasing the body of literature on sustainability reporting research in Latin America and proposes a regional planning research to improve performance and sustainability reports with the stakeholders in the organizations of the region's countries. Results: The results of the analysis of 75 publications in 40 journals show an increase until the 2018 period. Most of the publications were by Brazilian and Colombian authors and journals. The largest number of studies corresponds to descriptive quantitative research based on content analysis of reports prepared according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Studies mainly consider institutional and legitimacy theories. There is also an absence of studies that consider stakeholder theory, address contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and deal with environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting in the Latin American context. Social contributions: A pending research agenda is presented on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability reporting in Latin American organizations as a contribution to the sustainable development in Latin America. Therefore, a regional plan of research is proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL responsibility of business , *SOCIAL indicators , *DELPHI method , *SUSTAINABLE development reporting , *MUNICIPAL government , *SUSTAINABLE development , *WORK design - Abstract
The proposals for models and other ways of measuring Corporate Social Responsibility have been diverse in recent decades, ranging from the analysis of sustainability reports provided by enterprises to the application of single and multiple indicators. Of the latter, very few are those formulated to measure the impact on the territory of enterprise activities that are developed from the use of indicators contextualized to local environments, for which it is important to have guides that methodologically allow to evaluate, in an accurate way, the socially responsible performance of enterprises in the territories. The objective of this work is: to design a methodology for the implementat ion of a System of Municipal Corporate Social Responsibility Indicators, which allows the municipal government to evaluate the socially responsible management and the social commitment of the local enterprise community, with a focus on interest groups and forging a culture of production and services that enhances sustainable local development and community welfare, validating it through the use of the Delphi method, as a method of consultation with experts. Understanding interactions between stakeholders and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) are key for developing strategies that enable NPO‘s survival and growth. Quantifying, qualifying and describing these issues through a cross-sectional mixed approach allows objective identification of elements constitutive to stakeholders, and their relative dependence on NPOs. Twenty-six NPOs located in Brazil were chosen. Quantitative data were subjected to the Kruskal-Wallis test, and treatment means separated by the Dunn test (P ≤ 0.05). Using MAXQDA software, qualitative information was analyzed using a content analysis technique. Three stakeholders were deemed weakly dependent on NPOs, and another seven highly dependent and critical to an understanding of stakeholder-NPO interactions. In conclusion, the maintenance of NPO services was highly dependent upon stakeholders. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONSTRUCTION management , *SOCIAL responsibility of business , *WASTE management , *REFUSE containers , *PUBLIC spaces , *CONTRACT negotiations - Abstract
It is common knowledge that civil construction industry causes large externalities in the environment. This article contributes to the area of corporate social responsibility in organizations seeking innovations that reduce the impacts caused by construction waste in society. The objective of this article is to analyze the business structuring and best practices in a small organization that offers innovation in service oriented to waste management, seeking to discover which improvements can be implemented in this evolutionary process. It is a case study that involved participatory interviews and documentary analysis as enabling instruments. The chosen organization won an award due to its offer of innovative services that support waste management in the construction industry. The results were analyzed from the perspectives of innovation, RSC, and Stakeholder Theory. In conclusion, an organization innovates when it seeks to continue adding value, transforming environmental constraints into new business. Best practices in waste management can be achieved through the knowledge and lessons learned and developed through a repository that collects, stores and distributes information about experiences in projects. Finally, it is possible to improve the preparation of the contracts, making them available for consultation by interested parties and enabling better control of tasks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The program council and semistructured interviews were made with the MPR manager and with two responsibles for the program in the municipality. The results showed that the surveyed municipalities have their economic base rooted in family farming. MPR management is shared between CIDEMA and municipalities, however, they don't have unity in the process conduction, each municipality usually uses own methodologies to manage the program. The survey revealed gaps in the involvement of the interested parts throughout the program lifecycle, extending from the training of those responsible, the absence of environmental analysis considering the advantages and potential of each municipality, the lack of integrated logistics and the clarity in the attributions of those involved. It was also observed that the program benefits families in social aspects, improving the life quality.

Design/methodology/approach The sample comprises companies listed on the Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão (B3) between 2010 and 2018. The data collection used the reference form from the B3, Economática®, and CSRHub as sources, and the multiple linear regression method of generalized least squares. Findings The study identifies different strategic orientations according to ownership concentration and the identity of the controlling shareholder. Family and state-owned companies do not seem motivated to develop CSR practices aimed at employees, while multinational companies assume that these practices should be implemented. Practical & social implications of research The research contributes to understanding the behavior of different ownership identities, which can lead to different patterns of adoption of CSR practices aimed at employees. Originality/value The study identified different strategic CSR orientations, according to ownership concentration and the identity of the controlling shareholder. Family and state-owned companies do not seem motivated to develop CSR practices aimed at employees, while multinational companies assume the importance of these practices. Companies with institutional ownership do not have clearly defined behavior in terms of CSR. These different results seem to show that the path towards a proactive approach to CSR in Brazil is “long and tortuous,” especially due to the incipient mechanisms of corporate governance.

Purpose: To evaluate the theme “Code of Ethics and Conduct” in private or public organizations, considering the relationship between ethical issues and good practices in Corporate Governance, measures that subsidize the planning and strengthening of ethical cultures in the interpersonal context. Design / methodology / approach: The descriptive survey relied on the application of questionnaires and obtained 184 responses from organizations of various types. The study was carried out using codes of conduct made available by companies on their websites, characterized as primary sources. The data collected were worked in the SPSS, tabulated and presented as results in the form of tables or graphs, with appropriate analyses. Findings: The results show the adoption of good practices of integrity, especially on the Code of Ethics and Conduct. The adoption of an ethical code can be considered a way to formalize, encourage and guide responsible behavior among employees and organizations. Seen from the outside, it contributes to creating and maintaining a good corporate reputation and stakeholder trust. In this sense, the reasons behind the creation of a code have been stated in the Shareholders’ Theory, the Legitimacy Theory and the Stakeholder Theory. Originality / value: The Code of Ethics and Conduct arises as an instrument to guide ethical behavior in organizations. Therefore, it is the declaration of the set of rights, duties, business conduct towards stakeholders, reflecting the culture and set of norms that enrich the company’s decision-making processes and guide its behavior.

The market has seen a significant growth in the demand for ethical behavior, in the direction of efforts by companies to be socially responsible and to reduce negative environmental and social externalities resulting from their corporate activities. As a result, companies across the world do not simply commit to Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, but often choose to make their stakeholders aware of this conduct and leverage customer perception in an attempt to improve corporate reputation and build a sustainable competitive advantage. Reality that I could see in the company EDP Comercial, host entity within the scope of the curricular internship with the aim of completing the Master in Marketing at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, which took place between September 2021 and January 2022, corresponding to 700h in remote work. In general terms, the main objectives of the internship consisted of carrying out a research project to assess the ESG performance of EDP Comercial from the perspective of customers and the creation of an ESG monitoring system for EDP Comercial and the impact on the sustainable behavior of customers. In order to frame this report and carry out the internship itself, a literature review was prepared in the format of bibliometric analysis, whose main theme was the sustainability performance. The results obtained will be able to help companies in the socially responsible relationship with their stakeholders. Benchmarking and analyzing the customer journey were, without a doubt, the biggest contribution to EDP Comercial. This strategic analysis of the best practices employed by companies in the same sector allowed the identification of opportunities to improve EDP Comercial's performance in terms of ESG performance, namely, it promoted an additional stimulus in the creation of communication and relationship channels suitable for people with special needs, such as the use of Braille and Portuguese Sign Language in the service of assistance to the blind, deaf and mute.

Purpose – This paper evaluates the influence of the institutional environment on the extent of social and environmental disclosure of companies from institutionally distant countries. Design/methodology/approach – We analyze basic materials, oil and gas, and public utility companies with shares traded on the Brazilian stock exchange (BM&FBovespa) and Canadian stock exchange (Toronto Stock Exchange) from 2007 to 2015. Quantitative methods are adopted through descriptive statistics and panel data analysis. The econometric modeling considers environmental and social disclosure as dependent variables, independent variables that represent the political, financial, educational and labor systems, and firm size, ROA, and indebtedness as control variables. Findings – In the case of the companies operating in Brazil, the extent of environmental and social disclosure is positively related to the political and labor systems, and negatively related to the financial system. In Canada, disclosure is negatively influenced by the financial system and the education system. The control variables, which represent characteristics of financial performance, were not significant. Originality/value – The study shows that isomorphic forces operate in the institutional field and affect the adoption of socially responsible behavior. By basing the study on institutionally distinct countries, such as Brazil and Canada, it reinforces the influence of the national business system on the extent of disclosure of environmental and social practices.
In the last decades, and under the strong influence of the New Public Management and of the growing demands of society, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have undergone a set of significant changes in their organisation and management model. In Portugal, the new model for the organisation and management of HEIs, laid down in law nr. 62/2007, of 10 September - Legal Regime of Higher Education Institutions (RJIES) attributes the responsibility for its institutional and strategic governance to a governing body made up of elected members of the academic community and co-opted external members - the General Council (GC). The flexibility and innovation conferred by this normative law thus brought about differentiating perspectives as to how each institution interpreted the adequacy of the presence and participation of non-teaching members in the governing and management bodies. Taking university governance and the validity of the new governance model as a backdrop, using a case study based on the analysis of 46 interviews in 4 public universities in Portugal with different regimes, the study analyses the participation of non-teaching and non-researching members with a seat on the General Councils. The study is based on a conceptual framework structured around three dimensions of analysis, namely: representations of higher education, governance of the institutions and motivations and evaluation of participation. The results of the research show that a significant majority of the interviewees recognise higher education as an instrument of economic utility, associated with progress, together with another set of perceptions based on the diffusion of positive externalities provided by higher education in terms of economic, social and cultural development. Nevertheless, the interviewees acknowledge the existence of inconsistencies in the current system, advocating the need for a clarification of the higher education system. Analysed from three perspectives, it can be seen that all interviewees perceive a framework of visible transformations in governance, regardless of the legal status of their institution. From a macro perspective, the interviewees attach special significance to the role of including the body of external personalities in the governance of the HEIs, although, nevertheless, intrinsic limitations of this body due to various contexts and, resistance and conservatism in academia are highlighted which prevent its role from being more effective. The deepening of the institutional autonomy of the HEIs and the option made possible by adherence to the foundational regime is considered positive. However, limitations in its operationalisation and other constraints mean that most of the interviewees, while recognising the great virtues of the model, still have some reservations. From a meso perspective, the data analysed lead us to the conclusion that a favourable qualitative assessment is perceived on the functioning of the general councils of the four HEIs, in which the contribution given by the good relations established between the GC and the rectory and other governing bodies was guided by a positive relationship of institutional cooperation. However, there is still a perception of a wide range of aspects that limit the capacity of the GC. From a micro perspective, the results show that the internal members recognise their loss of representativity and, consequently, demand its increase. The results also allow the identification of opinions that express the possibility of the composition of the GC integrating mostly external elements, which seems to constitute a rupture in the form of governance that traditionally characterise HEIs. Finally, although the analysis is based on different dynamics and varied contexts, the results suggest that a significant majority of the interviewees evaluate their experience on the GC positively. The Covid-19 Pandemic surged on China at the end of 2019 implied in radical changes and new approaches for the humankind on how to deal individually with itself, with the other and the collective of people. Many people quickly have lost their lives, forcing the adoption of dramatic measures leading to the social distancing to avoid the disease dissemination, the health decrease of people and more deaths. These measures led the society to experience a health and economic crisis. Those among the population most socioeconomically vulnerable had to count on the support of others’ donations looking to safely pass, yet at the beginning of 2020, an unknown tenure related to how long in time the pandemic would still pressing their day to day lives. Big corporations with stocks options on the market in the local B3 stock exchanges, engaged in donation actions docked to their sustainability processes and systems, participating on the local corporate sustainability index, called ISE – “Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial”. To the understanding of how the covid-19 pandemic have influenced in the decision process of these corporations doing part of the ISE-B3 related to the lenses of the corporate sustainability (CS), corporate social responsibility (CSR), and projects based on private grants and the relationship with the stakeholders, the current applied research is based in the consultation of their annual sustainability reports, as well as the foundations or institutes financially supported by this corporations, regarded to the year of 2020, further the contributions of specialists on the theme. As comparison parameter the 2017 to 2019 annual sustainability reports of the same companies also were consulted and compiled. The intention is comprehend: “how the covid-19 pandemic influenced the ISE-B3 companies’ private grants/CSR agenda?”. Were identified changes on the way companies considered their strategies to communicate the highlights on the initiatives implemented during the chosen period. Conclusions that come up under the covid-19 pandemic and stakeholders influence on the business demonstrated the quick response not only to the external social demands but, also and effectively, to that public most intimate and responsible for the continuity of the business operations at a level that allow these companies aid that most vulnerable public with effectiveness: the coworkers and the suppliers. The response also positively signals to the market due to the raising concern on the ESG management, which in Brazil is called ASG, and bring some patterns using the content, data and disclaimers integrating the annual corporate sustainability reports.

Bringing intelligence to the management model of these cities has been presented as a viable alternative to improving the quality of life of the population that resides in them. However, there is no relevant and sufficient study that seeks to identify these stakeholders within the scope of smart cities, nor assess their importance in this context, and even investigate whether the city's performance is related to the perception of these non-governmental stakeholders. And this is the central proposal of this work, consisting of multiple, distinct and interdependent studies, being a systematic literature review and a quantitative method through varied regressions. The perception of public managers in relation to the salience of other stakeholders does not impact the municipality's performance, even though the literature has recognized and typified such stakeholders, with civil society being the most recognized stakeholder in the revised texts. The impact on the performance of cities is only observed in relation to geographic and economic aspects. It is desirable to develop a scale to measure the attributes and salience of stakeholders, in addition to investigating more characteristics of public managers. Another proposal for future studies would be to investigate the reason for the educational segment to be more salient in the eyes of public managers than the authors of scientific articles.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Vlamir Fernandes da Silva.pdf: 1886034 bytes, checksum: 8dee7add5570439aa5746cafbfcde489 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2021-12-07 The competencies that exist in people in project management positions can be categorized as technical or interpersonal competencies. Interpersonal skills allow a person in the project manager position to interact with other people in the project environment. Such competencies may be related to the project teams, their sponsors, or project stakeholders. The specialized literature points out that skills such as motivation and people's engagement can positively contribute to the project's performance. In this way, the person responsible for the relationship with people in the project environment can be personified in several roles, regardless of the adopted project management methodology, such as project manager, scrum master, and product owner. It is noteworthy that all these positions can benefit from specific skills to influence and align these people with the project objectives. In this context, Executive Presence can be considered a relevant competency to differentiate an individual from others, promoting influence over the people involved in the project, motivating, and engaging these people towards the project's objectives. Based on this situation in which a person's competence can promote positive results, this research presents a conceptual model, based on Executive Presence, to support the project manager in the relationship with the people involved in the project. Therefore, this research adopted a qualitative exploratory approach. In the first phase, a systematic literature review was carried out to identify the principal authors, definitions, and elements that make up the Executive Presence and the relationship of this competence with the people responsible for managing projects. The literature review found 21 elements that were empirically confronted by conducting 20 in-depth interviews with practitioners accountable for the performance of the project teams and for the relationship with sponsors and stakeholders who validated the relevance of Executive Presence in the project environment. Based on the results, this research presents a conceptual model of Executive Presence for the Project Manager. This research contributes to the academy by bringing the competence of Executive Presence closer to the project environment, exploring the gap in the literature of studies on this competence in this environment, extending the use scenarios of Executive Presence to the project environment, and proposing a definition for the Executive Presence. The contribution for practitioners is the presentation of a conceptual model to support the selection of individuals responsible for the relationship with project people more efficiently, developing training programs for the development of Executive Presence for the project manager, and improving project manager assessment processes. This study is part of the PPGP-UNINOVE Project Management research line, in the context of the research project on Agile and Hybrid Projects, and the project financed by the CNPq Universal Notice.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Maria Santiellas Costa Rodrigues.pdf: 1212715 bytes, checksum: 19f01d496b67606169e211b3162cf684 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2021-04-20 The rapid and disorderly growth of the urban population, added to the effects of climate change, have increased the occurrences and intensities of phenomena related to urban flooding, affecting the sustainability of urban areas and negatively impacting the social, environmental, and economic spheres of many cities. Because of such impacts, many cities work on traditional procedures to face them, among which the so-called gray solutions stand out. On the other hand, there is a growing number of Chinese, European and American cities that, according to the recommendations of the United Nations and with global concerns regarding sustainable development, have adopted nature-based solutions (SBN's) to combat the negative effects caused by such phenomenon. Given this paradox and considering the increase of occurrences of floods in the city of São Paulo, in recent decades, this dissertation aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of inserting SBNs in the fight against urban floods in the city of São Paulo. This is an applied research, exploratory in nature, and based on a bibliographic survey, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews with professionals from agencies involved in managing the fight against urban floods. The results obtained allowed the identification of opportunities for actions by SBN's that can support flood control, improving water and green space management, as well as climate resilience, increased infiltration, collection, and storage of water. Regarding the challenges, the results pointed to cultural issues, the size of the area needed for projects of this type, financial and managerial issues, and difficulties in measuring and evaluating the adopted solutions. The research points to the importance of combining green and gray solutions in combating urban floods, which allows better use of the benefits that each one of them can offer. It is expected that the presented results will contribute to future public drainage policies aimed at combating urban flooding in the city of São Paulo and for other studies aimed at the challenges observed in this research.
