The present study revealed about the physicians perspective towards ICT application in the central library of NEIGRIHMS, Meghalaya. Medical library has been developing day by day in this technological epoch. The present study was limited only for physicians both in clinical and non clinical sections. The study was conducted by simple random sampling and data were collected by using questionnaire method from the physicians. It was noticed that 85% respondents provided responses and the received responses were analyzed and tabulated in various sections. The findings showed that physicians purpose of library usages, their attitude, impact of ICT, techniques for searching e-resources, difficulties in using the library & satisfaction level etc. The role of medical librarian is very crucial for dissemination of advanced library services in this digital environment. Physicians retrieved the recent information relating biomedical science field with the help of emerging eresources, medical library databases & consortium. The study will help to know the ICT impact in the library and its effectiveness among the medical fraternity of NEIGRIHMS in Meghalaya state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire-Physician version (SDM-Q-Doc) in a sample of medical oncologists who provide adjuvant treatment to patients with non-metastatic resected cancer and the correlations between the total SDM-Q-Doc score and physician satisfaction with the information provided. Methods: Prospective, observational and multicenter study in which 32 medical oncologists and 520 patients were recruited. The psychometric properties, dimensionality, and factor structure of the SDM-Q-Doc were assessed. Results: Exploratory factor analyses suggested that the most likely solution was two-dimensional, with two correlated factors: one factor regarding information and another one about treatment. Confirmatory factor analysis based on cross-validation showed that the fitted two-dimensional solution provided the best fit to the data. Reliability analyses revealed good accuracy for the derived scores, both total and sub-scale, with estimates ranging from 0.81 to 0.89. The results revealed significant correlations between the total SDM-Q-Doc score and physician satisfaction with the information provided ( p < 0.01); between information sub-scale scores (factor 1) and satisfaction ( p < 0.01), and between treatment sub-scale scores (factor 2) and satisfaction ( p < 0.01). Medical oncologists of older age and those with more years of experience showed more interest in the patient preferences ( p = 0.026 and p = 0.020, respectively). Patient age negatively correlated with SDM information ( p < 0.01) and physicians appear to provide more information to young patients. Conclusion: SDM-Q-Doc showed good psychometric properties and could be a helpful tool that examines physician's perspective of SDM and as an indicator of quality and satisfaction in patients with cancer. (1) Background: The antibiotic resistance (ABR) rates are escalating to seriously high levels worldwide. This study was conducted to determine physicians' perspectives on factors influencing ABR in Vietnam. (2) Methods: Focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted through in-depth interviews on ABR perspectives with 5-6 physicians from different geographical locations and hospitals in Vietnam between March and June 2020. The research questions were focused on three main themes of (a) knowledge deficiency on ABR and hospital-acquired infection, (b) antibiotic prescribing practice among clinicians in the healthcare setting, and (c) regulations and hospital policies on antibiotic use. The descriptive analysis was performed using QRS NVivo software. (3) Results: A total of six FGDs were conducted among 34 physicians (18 males, 16 females) aged 26-53 years old from six public and six private hospitals in Vietnam. Most of the participants were attending physicians (85.3%) and had 5-10 years of experience in surgical wards (55.9%). For theme (a), a majority of participants agreed that they had adequate information updates on how ABR develops in their clinical setting; and were well aware of hospital-acquired infections. For theme (b), the participants agreed that WHO guidelines and Vietnam national guidelines were two important reference documents in guiding physicians in antibiotic use. For theme (c), the FGD study revealed awareness of ABR, hospital antibiotic policies, and procedures for administrators on antibiotic use that were updated and complied with. (4) Conclusions: While different levels of control measures against ABR are ongoing in Vietnam, several weaknesses in the current antibiotic prescribing strategies in the hospital and clinical setting management policies have been identified in the healthcare system. The research findings will be helpful for policymakers to have better plans of action against ABR in Vietnam.

Purpose We attempt to shed light on the truth-telling attitudes and practices of oncologists working with a geriatric population in Italy. Participants and method Physicians caring for cancer patients were asked to complete a specific survey centred on their beliefs, attitudes and practices towards truth telling to elderly cancer patients. Results Of 50 physicians surveyed, 68% were men. Physicians practising in the south of Italy were significantly older and more likely to be of male gender in comparison with physicians practising from the north and central areas. Eighty-four per cent of physicians consider the family to be an obstacle to a direct communication with the elderly. Forty-four per cent of male physicians who are faced with a family's request of nondisclosure talk with the patient, whereas 37.5% of female physicians talk with the family. For 60% of interviewed physicians, the reason underpinning the caregiver's choice of nondisclosure is to delay the emotional confrontation. Conclusions We observed that variability of disclosure is related not only to the patient's age but also to the physicians' age and sex and to the geographic area where physicians work. The results also show that both caregivers and physicians are concerned by the emotional aspects related to clinical information. Italian oncologists have to learn and implement 'comprehensive' communication skills and have to promote an integration of the information needs of patient and caregivers, according to their socio-cultural affiliation, within the communication techniques. The study was conducted to investigate issues surrounding human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine delivery in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural society. A qualitative in-depth interview study was conducted with a sample of 20 physicians. Physicians described the success of HPV vaccines recommendation as very poor. Many expressed reluctance to offer the vaccine to preadolescents. The most notable barrier to vaccination was the vaccine's high cost. Parents of eligible vaccinees were concerned about the efficacy and side effects of the new vaccine, while adult women have low risk perception for HPV infection. Promoters and inhibitors of HPV vaccination in our multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural community were identified. This study suggests the need to strengthen the infrastructure necessary for HPV vaccine delivery and to specifically target poor underserved women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
