Most primary schools in the Czech Republic have a school garden, but despite the long-standing emphasis on the benefits of outdoor learning, many schools need help to incorporate it into the classroom for a variety of reasons. Therefore, this article presents 10 proven teaching units and worksheets to guide students through them for teaching in the school garden at Key Stage 2 of primary school. The overarching theme of the materials is water. The materials developed have been tested during one school year in a small rural school whose school garden has been modernised in recent years; the worksheets can be used in all school gardens after minor modifications. At the same time, a pre-test/post-test was used to test the effect of the lessons on the pupils‘ attitudes towards the school garden and the environment. Modified standardised instruments Inclusion of Nature in Self (INS) and Two Major Environmental Values (2-MEV) were used for data collection. The results obtained show that the lessons implemented had a positive effect on perceived inclusion of the garden in self, but no effect on attitudes towards the environment was demonstrated. What is encouraging is the increased interest in learning in the school garden after the one-year program. Therefore, in agreement with the other authors, we recommend teaching in the school garden and believe that the materials presented will help implement it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
