- Abstract
Rising incidence of premature births increases the need for evaluation of neuromaturation and neurobehavioral development in pre-term infants. Fluctuating muscle tone in these children informs us of the neuromaturation of the central nervous system. Questions evaluating passive and active tone are included in many neurobehavioral scales and inform medical doctors and physiotherapists of the advancing developments of the lower motor centres. Achieving neonatal quality of limb flexion tone is the goal of neonatal physiotherapy, followed by paediatric physiotherapy that aims to involve higher motor centres. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, it is modern to treat young children as if they are adults, even if they are not ready for lots of things in many different ways. Parents dress them into jeans, they put them into shoes, they try to learn them how to stand before their body is even prepared for it. All of these things can cause lots of problems in the future without the parents even knowing. Foot developement is from the ontogenetic point of view a really individual thing and it has a link to psychomotor developement of the individual. The first aim of the study is to describe the change of the arch of the foot in the infant age. The second one is to describe some physiotherapeutic methods suitable for influencing of the quality of support in the infant age with using some case studies and reports. The theoretical part includes the anatomy of the foot and a short summary of developmental ontogenesis in the infant age. It also describes some congenital abnormalities and some therapeutic methods that could be used. In the practical part of this thesis, qualitative research was used, namely case studies in the form of case reports. Some children in the infant age were selected for this research. All those children were diagnosed with late psychomotor development and we expected, that their developement will have some impact on the quality of support. With all the infants included into the practical part of this thesis we saw the improvement of their psychomotor developement and also the improvement of the quality of support at the end of our study. Each of the children needed their own time to improve and to take the next step in their developement. Our therapeutic intervention really helped all the patients to improve.

This bachelor thesis looks at the influence of the quality of the functional peripheral of the lower leg on the posture and axial system. The periphery of the lower extremities is an important part of the musculoskeletal system. The quality of the lower leg periphery will influence the functional involvement of other areas. Functional leg disorders can cause functional disturbances in other areas or affect them significantly. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. Psychomotor development from prenatal to preschool has been described in the theoretical section. Furthermore, the work deals with functional anatomy of the leg and development of the functional leg. The axial system is the main theme of the next chapter. Posture, postural function, stability, as well as posture disorders are further content of the theoretical part. Conclusion of the theoretical part deals with the defective posture of the most common functional disorders in the lower leg area. This part is concluded with the possibilities of postural therapy in children. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is processed in the form of qualitative research. Probands are individuals aged 3-6 years with impaired lower leg support quality, enrolled in physiotherapy at outpatient facility Rehabilitation Borovany s.r.o. Physiotherapy was carried out by a trained physiotherapist, the therapy was followed by a student and subsequently described in case reports three children. Individual case reports include an initial examination, a course of therapy and an exit examination. The first goal of the work was to describe the development of the functional support of the lower limb periphery and the influence of its quality on the posture and axial system in children. The second objective was to describe therapeutic practices in specific individuals aged 3-6 with impaired support quality. In the form of case reports. Early detection of a deviation in psychomotor development and recognition of defective posture is essential for the early start of therapy and thus for its success. The bachelor's thesis can serve physiotherapists in practice as an inspiration for therapeutic practices in preschool-age children.

Praktickým důsledkem je pak špatná rytmizace pohybu, nesprávná časová a prostorová posloupnost pohybů, omezené rovnováhové schopnosti, špatná koordinace složitějších pohybů a další komplikace. [Human movement is natural part of existence of all human beings. Children with visual impairments have significant needs, which should be supported by the medical and special educational services. For children with visual impairment (VI) is crucial to understand their development in complex view and to provide services in complex team approach, which has long tradition in the Czech Republic. Children with visual impairments are usually born with adequate predisposition to the movement comparable to children without visual impairments, however due to the lack of visual sensory perceptions in early childhood, when children acquire 70 - 90% of information by sight, can lead to the developmental delays and in turn children mobility can look similar to children with cerebral palsy. Clearly there is a need for special movement intervention, which would facilitate the psychomotor development of children with VI. This intervention should be provided by experts in early intervention in adapted physical activities. The intervention cannot be solely based on passive stimulation of extremities, but needs to be carefully designed program stimulating psychomotor development. Unique opportunities are with the use of adapted aquatics – baby swimming as aquatic environment was natural environment during prenatal development. Baby swimming can with use of specific handling techniques in water provide appropriate stimuli to psychomotor development as well as social development and coping of families of children with VI.]

This bachelor thesis analyzes the issue of psychomotor development of preschool children with hearing impairment. Particularly, the sample consists of three children with hearing impairment. Consequently, the objective of this thesis is predominantly based on the observations within the kindergarten environment, as well as on qualitative interviews with a physiotherapist and pedagogues followed by the analysis of documents. Furthermore, a detailed empirical research was conducted in order to qualitatively describe psychomotor development of preschool children with hearing impairments. The thesis has been divided into theoretical and empirical parts. Firstly, the theoretical part introduces the basic areas related to hearing impairment, describes the child in preschool age, and specifies the development of a child with hearing impairment, as the main objective is to increase the readers' eagerness and knowledge regarding this topic. Secondly, the empirical part focuses on the psychomotor development of children with hearing impairment, more specifically the three sampled children. Finally, the thesis concludes with summarized components of psychomotor developments regarding each sampled individual, followed by a recommended improvement-focused proposal with a reference to the current insufficiency within certain weakened areas of this issue.

My bachelor thesis is focused on possibilities of physiotherapeutical intervention for 1-3 months old infants with predilection. Head predilection is one of the most common diagnosis which currently has been bringing mothers with their newborns to the office of physiotherapists. Correct psychomotor development is important for future health and, therefore, it is very important to discover abnormalities and start a therapy as soon as possible. The goal of my thesis is to generically describe the possibilities of physiotherapy for 1-3 months old infants, and also describe the physiotherapeutical options in case studies of infants aged 1-3 months with predilection. The thesis is split into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, I elaborate on the ideal psychomotor development, its abnormalities and stimulations. Furthermore, the predilection is described along with its differential diagnosis, etiology and risk factors. An important part is also a diagnosis of movement dysfunctions. Options for physiotherapy are described at the end of the theoretical part. The practical part is composed from 3 case studies of probands who were sent to physiotherapy by their pediatrician due to the case of predilection. The case studies contain anamnesis, examination of postural activity, reactiveness and primitive reflexes and subsequently a therapy description. At the end of the thesis, I evaluate the process and results of the therapy. Improvement was observed in all probands after relatively short period of time. This bachelor thesis can be used by physiotherapists as an inspiration of therapeutic procedures for infants with predilection.

The Bachelor thesis deals with the research issue of the possibility of leveraging free time as a part of psychomotor development of children under the age of three. Within the theoretical part the notions of leisure time, such as the importance of the influence of the family environment on the formation of the relationship to free time in the smallest children are characterised. The question of whether and how younger children actually perceive and understand free time is the starting question that has to be asked in the introducing right now. The thesis also includes a description of age periods: newborn, infant and toddler. Bachelor thesis also characterizes their sensory and psychomotor development. At the same time, these three development periods form the target groups of the practical part. Furthermore the work deals with the definition of the game and its development at different stages of the child's life. In the practical part three draft activities suitable for the adequate psychomotor development of the child in free time are processed.

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of postural therapy with dynamic neuromuscular stabilization in infants. The proper development of the child plays an important role in his or her further development. Importantly, early control and fixing of the development may prevent various pathological states. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. In the theoretical part, I described the psychomotor development of the child from the prenatal period to the infant age. Further, I describe pathological locomotor developmental stages. An important part of the thesis is also the diagnosis and evaluation of the motor development based on the examination of postural spontaneous activity, position responses, primitive reflexes and assessment of the muscle tone. In the next chapter of the theoretical part, the axial organ was described. At the end of the theoretical part, I discussed the possibilities of postural therapy in infants. In the practical part, I examined infants with slight deviations in psychomotor development. Subsequently, I applied a therapy, namely dynamic neuromuscular stabilization, in order to achieve the greatest possible improvement. I decided to use the DNS concept due to the fact that it allows targeting of the postural and locomotive functions. The practical part of my work was done on the basis of case studies, which contain the initial examination, the process of the therapy and the final assessment. The kinesiology summarizes anamnesis, postural activity, position responses, primitive reflexes and muscle tone. In the conclusion, the results were described and the success of the therapy was evaluated. I noticed significant improvement in each of the patients. Therefore, this work might help to expand the application of the DNS concept to such young patients as well.

The baccalaureate thesis deals with the use of Vojta induction therapy for the treatment of children suffering from various degrees of motor disability ranging from the mildest one up to poliomyelitis, and furthermore with how the mother responds to the child's disability and to the need of intensive exercise. The Vojta principle is understood as the most effective way of therapy in these children. The main aim of the thesis was to evaluate the treatment efficacy precisely according to Vojta, and to determine the mother's emotiveness during the treatment. The respondents included thirty mothers of children in the age up to 18 months that came to my office for exercises. The theoretic part describes facts related to this paediatric disease, which include etiology, its symptoms, clinical image, diagnostics, prevention, the treatment itself, and the role of the family and the mother in caring for the disabled child. In terms of methodology, the practical part is supported by the principles of qualitative- quantitative research based on secondary data analysis and direct observation. Two questionnaires were used as the means to complete a partial goal of the thesis, thus to analyze the mothers' emotions during the child's therapy according to Vojta - Zung Anxiety Self-Assessment Scale and my own questionnaire. Kinesiological assessment of spontaneous motility, of the quality and quantity of physical posture in the development of stand up mechanisms confirmed objective improvement in all respondents after the therapy according to Vojta, which is evidenced by the case report attached. The research indicated reduced anxiety levels of the mothers after three months of exercises with the child using the Vojta method. Certain aspects, which include the frequency, dosage, timely initiation of therapy, proper guidance of the parents by the physiotherapist and the parents' approach to the therapy, also exert an effect on the efficacy of Vojta therapy.

In my bachelor thesis I have dealt with the problematic therapy of children with cerebral palsy. The aim has been defined as a presentation of therapeutic methods used at children endangered by cerebral palsy in the first year of life and the determination of the time aspect of the therapy. In the theoretical part I have dealt with the topic of psychomotor development of a child and the facts related to coming down with cerebral palsy, that includes its definition, causes of development, types and diagnosis. Since the most widely used method in the Czech Republic for children with cerebral palsy is Vojta´s reflex locomotion, the aim of the research part was to present this method in more detail and to find out experience with its use. The respondents were represented by 28 parents of children afflicted by cerebral palsy, who are treated in special diagnostic Center. This part of the work is methodologically based on the principles of qualitative research. Inquiry method has been used, employing semi-structured interview. The answers to questions demonstrate that an early diagnosis of the disease and an immediate institution of treatment is the main necessary condition for reaching optimal outcomes of the treatment. According to the research, the efficiency of the treatment also depends on its frequency, the expert guidance of professional physiotherapists for parents, their comprehension and conviction that the therapy will be successful. The investigation further showed that parents of children with cerebral palsy tried other therapeutic methods than Vojta´s reflex locomotion, but for lack of cooperation of the child, negligible results of other therapies or poor availability of their parents completed the application. The research findings also showed that improvement, which in practice Vojta´s reflex locomotion in their children diagnosed with cerebral palsy occurs, the main reason for this therapeutic method remain and will continue to apply.

In this study I wanted to put together my imaginations and how the upbringing and evolution of the suckling in the family should look like. On that base the parents should be able to give many stimulations to their child for his healthy evolution. This program should be acceptable to a wide spectrum of the parents universally with a view to time, money and local conditions. In my study I describe the upbringing of the suckling in the family with a view to his optimum evolution based on physical, mental and spiritual health. The first, theoretical part contains knowledge and experience of well-known Czech and foreign specialists who are engaged in those problems. The second, experimental parts brings the pieces of information about the right influence of the child´s upbringings and his gearing to programs of physical and mental evolution and his next life in the family with special care and as follows his putting across the social life. In statistical evaluating I compare all the results which are important for the right evolution of the child. My study wants to show important methods how to bring up the suckling from his first day of being born because it is the main meaning for his future life. At the beginning of each upbringing phase of the suckling it is acceptable to recommend this program to all the parents and it is possible to consult the methods of programs with specialists until they gain control of it themselves.

Every mother wants to give her child as much care as possible. Her care in the neonatal period is of special importance, because it may influence her child?s following development. It is essential that mothers be sufficiently informed about the newborn?s psychomotor development, and they should know that support may be started from the very first moment after the childbirth. The theoretical part of my thesis is focused on the knowledge about the psychomotor development of newborns and infants, about sensual perception of newborns, abilities and the importance of a mother?s first contact with her new-born child immediately after the child is born. The practical part deals with expectant mothers? knowledge about the correct development of newborns. Further, the practical part deals with interviews conducted with obstetricians who lead courses for future mothers. To process the question and achieve the objectives laid down, I had chosen the quantitative and qualitative research method. The quantitative and qualitative research was carried out by means of deep interviewing. I defined two objectives, and a hypothesis and a research question connected with these objectives. The first objective was focused on finding out whether mothers in the postpartum wards were informed about the physiological psychomotor development of newborns, and the second objective focused on finding out whether obstetricians were interested, within the courses for future mothers, in educating pregnant women about psychomotor development of newborns. Both objectives were fulfilled. I defined a hypothesis and a research question. Hypothesis 1 says ?Mothers in the postpartum wards are informed about the psychomotor development of newborns ?, and the research question is ?To what extent are obstetricians ready to include the education of expectant mothers about psychomotor development of newborns, within the courses for future mothers?? Hypothesis 1 was not confirmed, and it was found out in the second part of the research that three of four obstetricians are not ready to include the questions of psychomotor development of newborns in their courses for expectant mothers. The theoretical part forms a basis of a brochure for mothers, which sums up the basic information about psychomotor development of newborns.

The thesis is focused on the influence of day nursery on a psychomotor development of a child. The work is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the psychomotor development of children under three years as well as an influence of a family and peers on socialization of a child. Further, there are described nurseries and their development in our republic in this part. The theoretical part is concluded with a presentation of a specific nursery. My practical part attends to the research of children in E. Pittera´s day nursery in České Budějovice. Nine children have been observed during three different guided trainings and at a free activity. The observation took place twice. The distance between the first and the second observation was three months. Nursery means the advancement for a child particularly in the development of relations to other children, however, a deciding part of the education rests upon a family.

My bachelor thesis deals with reflexology in relation to treatment of children with cerebral palsy (CP). As the Vojta method has been considered the most effective for treatment of patients suffering from any form of cerebral palsy, I have chosen as the main objective of my thesis the evaluation of effectiveness of treatment with the Vojta method. The respondents were two clients of the Arpida center for rehabilitation of handicapped people, who were undergoing treatment for triparetic and diparetic form of cerebral palsy. In the theoretical part I described facts about the disorder, including its etiology, symptoms, clinical manifestations but particularly diagnostics, prevention and treatment. Subsequently, I described the essence of the Vojta method as a diagnostic and therapeutic system. The practical part used a method of qualitative research, based on a secondary analysis of data and direct observation. The monitoring included a standard observation test Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and ADL test. To meet one partial objective of the thesis, i.e. analysis of experience of parents with treatment of CP using the Vojta method, I used a method of semi-structured interview. The examination of spontaneous mobility and the quality and quantity of body posture in the development of erective mechanisms has confirmed improvement in both the respondents after the applied therapy using the Vojta method, which has been demonstrated in the final kinesiology analysis. The case studies have shown that effectiveness of the therapy using the Vojta method is influenced by certain aspects, such as frequency, dosing, early beginning of the therapy, proper management of parents by the physiotherapist and the parents´ attitude to the therapy. The Vojta method represents a good basis for treatment of children with cerebral palsy but the rehabilitation shall be always an integral process. In conclusion of my thesis I have recommended to monitor clients in their development by using retardation quotient calculations.

Graphomotor skills are a set of motoric skills in the field of graphics. Their development is dependent on the overall level of psychomotor development, especially gross and fine motor skills. Hyperactivity means excessive compulsion to perform activities, excessive movements. This is why children with symptoms of hyperactivity are very frequently prone to occurrence of problems in some area of psychomotor skills. The aim of the thesis was to ascertain to what extent the level of graphomotor development influences postponement of school attendance and also how kindergartens handle development of fine and gross motor skills in these. Both aims were fulfilled. The theoretical section of the thesis deals with a detailed description of the problems, attempting to present a comprehensive overview of the topic. The research section is made up of integrated research. Qualitative research took place with the aid of controlled interviews with representatives of kindergartens. The interview was recorded in writing and subsequently analysed and elaborated into tables. The quantitative section of the research was base on gathering of data with the aid of questionnaires and subsequent analysis of the data. The results were elaborated into graphs. There were a total of two questionnaires, one for pedagogical workers and second for parents of children cited by teachers, both anonymous. Those questionnaires ascertained the level of gross and fine motor skills, graphomotor skills and any possible postponement (even considered) of school attendance. Two hypotheses were determined. The research confirmed both hypotheses. It was evident from the results of the research that deficiencies in the development of graphomotor skills in pre-school children are dependent on the development of gross motor skills and coordination and that hyperactive children show greater shortcomings in these areas. This is why development of psychomotor skills should be supported and developed in a targeted manner during pre-school years. This can help to prevent problems with graphomotor skills, especially in hyperactive children.
