Ecto- and endoparasitic invasions of dogs and cats are treated using drugs based on fipronil, ivermectin, and pyriproxyfen. That is why our objective was performing a field study to measure the efficacy of a complex drug with different mechanisms of the actions of its active agents against ecto- and endoparastitic invasions of dogs and cats using the spot-on application method. The paper presents data of the efficiency of the complex drug PerFect TRIO, antiparasitic drops for spot-on use against ecto- and endoparasitic invasions of dogs and cats of different breeds, ages, sexes, and body mass. Parasitological study of dogs found parasitism by the fleas Ctenocephalides canis and Pulex irritans with the invasion intensity ranging 108 to 132 ectoparasite insects per animal, the average invasion intensity being 121.1 ± 3.17 ectoparasite insects per animal; Trichodectidae species such as Trichodectes canis, with the invasion intensity ranging 25 to 32 ectoparasite insects per 100 cm² of the body surface, averaging 28.6 ± 1.00 ectoparasite insects per 100 cm² of the body surface; and Trombidiformes such as Сheyletiella yasguri, the intensity being 24 to 41 ectoparasite mites per animal, the average intensity being 33.9 ± 2.52 mites per animal. According to the results of parasitological studies of cats, their bodies were parasitized by the fleas Ctenocephalides felis and Pulex irritans, with the invasion intensity ranging 58 to 80 ectoparasite insects per animal, with the average intensity of 67.7 ± 2.84 ectoparasite insects per animal, Trichodectidae species such as Felicola subrostratus with the invasion intensity of 17 to 26 ectoparasite insects per 100 cm² of the animal’s body surface, averaging 21.3 ± 1.38 ectoparasite insects per 100 cm² of the body surface; the ear mite Otodectes cynotis with the intensity ranging 4 to 9 mites per animal, the average intensity being 6.1 ± 0.7 mites per animal; and the endoparasite – the digestive-tract nematode Uncinaria stenocephala, with the invasion intensity (ІІ) of 28 to 41 eggs in one gram of feces (ЕGF), averaging 34.3 ± 2.06 ЕGF. In our study, local spot-on application of the tested drug PerFect TRIO, antiparasitic drops for dogs and cats, produced notable effects on wingless ectoparasite insects and acarians of the dogs. Therefore, the efficiency of the drug against Siphonaptera infestation of the dogs equaled 92.9% on the 8th h and 100% on the 24th and 72nd h; against Trichodectidae infestation, it was 91.5% effective on the first day and 100% on the second and seventh; against cheyletiellosis, it was 81.9% effective on the seventh day and 100% on days 14 and 21. As with the cats, parasitological studies found that the efficacy of the recommended doses of the tested drug against spontaneous Siphonaptera infestation was 92.0% on the 8th h and 100% on the 24th and 72nd h; against Felicola infestation, it was 90.6% effective on the first day and 100% on the second and seventh day; against otodectosis, the drug produced 81.4% efficacy on the 7th day and 100% on the 14th and 21st days; and against hookworm disease, the efficacy was 100% on days 7 and 14. Our field trials demonstrated that the tested antiparasitic drops for cats and dogs are easy-to-use, were well received by the animals regardless of breed, age, sex, body mass, and had no toxic impact on them, providing a broad range of treatment against ecto- and endoparasites of cats and dogs.

The purpose of the research is to study of local irritant action of complex insectoacaricide drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo” on rats’ skin and guinea pigs’ mucous membranes of the eyes.Materials and methods. Local irritant action of complex insectoacaricide drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo” was evaluated in the experiment on determination of acute skin toxicity of rats on the thickness of skin fold. Only animals with healthy skin, which was kept on standard dietary and which has undergone 7 days absolute quarantine before experiment, were used. Studies on determination of local irritant action of aqueous solution of active ingredients combination of shampoo on conjunctiva of guinea pigs’ eyes were conducted on adult albino guinea pigs with body weight of 250–300 g. Each animal's eye condition was visually evaluated for determination of expressed injuries not later than 24 hours.Results and discussion. Symptoms of irritant action were not noticed in the case of exposure of aqueous solution of active ingredients combination of shampoo on rats’ skin. After application skin areas was not differ from control skin areas. Redness of whole conjunctiva and sclera was noted in the case of application of solution on mucous membranes of the eyes. This event disappeared in 24 hours. Condition of animals’ mucous membranes of the eyes pretreated water was within the physiological range. Aqueous solution of active ingredients combination has mild effect on mucous membranes of the eyes; recovery up to normal range carries within 24 hours.

The purpose of the research is to study the efficiency of complex medicinal product for veterinary use "RolfClub 3D shampoo” for treatment of dogs’ and cats’ ectoparasitosis.Materials and methods. Cats and dogs affected by fleas Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis, lice Felicola subrostratus and Trichodectes canis, sucking lice Linognathus setosus were selected for the experiment. Presence of specific disease symptoms (pruritus, rumpled and flat coat, scratchings, and places of hair removal) was noted at the time of visual examination of animals’ dermatic hair-coat covering. All infected animals were divided into experimental and control groups. Complex insectoacaricide drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo” ("SPC "Ecoprom") in the form of solution was administered according to the instruction. Before dressing animals’ dermatic hair-coat covering was richly washed by warm water, then the drug was applied at a rate of 1 ml per 1 kg of body weight spreading throughout surface of dermatic hair-coat covering and slightly rubbing till foaming avoiding contact with eyes, ears, and avoiding licking off drug by animals. Shampoo was carefully washed out with warm water in 5–7 minutes. Zoohygienical shampoo was used for the animals from control group. In 24 hours, 2, 5, 10 days shampoo efficiency was evaluated on the basis of calculation of amount of ectoparasites before and after single dressing by the drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo”.Results and discussion. It has been established that the drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo” has significant insecticide effect. Single animals’ dressing by the drug "RolfClub 3D shampoo” provided death of fleas, sucking lice, lice. In 24 hours, 2, 5, 10 days after beginning of experiment all treated animals were free of ectoparasites (fleas, sucking lice, lice). Therapeutic drug efficiency was 100% in the case of all ectoparasites diseases (ctenocephalosis, linognatozis, trichodectozis). Side effects and events were not identified in the case of drug administration.

The purpose of the research is to study the effectiveness of «Neoterica Protecto 12» product as polymer tape to prevent myiasis of dogs andcats. Materials and methods. In course of the experiment, spontaneously infected dogs and cats of different ages and breeds were used. The animals were not treated with anti-parasitic drugs for the previous 30 days; they had not been wearing insecticide collars for three months. The diagnosis was made comprehensively taking into account the epizootological data, clinical features and on the basis of careful examination and detection of ectoparasites and their eggs on the skin-and-coat of animals. The intensity of the invasion of animals was estimated by visual rating of insects on the animal's body parts (abdomen, head, lumbar region, and edge bone, inguinal and perineal zone) with a size of 10 × 10 cm. Results and discussion. The high therapeutic effectiveness of the product was found to be 100% when the animals were infected with Ctenocephalides canis, C. felis, Felicola subrostratus, Trichodectes canis and Linognathus setosus ectoparasites. No animal infected with ectoparasites was found within 28 days of applying the collar. No behavior changes and characteristic symptoms were found when observing the animals; general condition of the animals did not deteriorate. Clinical examination showed no evidence of itching; the restoration of skin and coat where scratches and alopecia were earlier noted. The re-infection of dogs and cats with ectoparasites during the following 6 months is hardly in evidence.

The purpose of the research is to assess the subchronic toxicity of the complex drug for dogs and cats “Inspector Kvadro” for cutaneous use.Materials and methods. The experiment was carried out on 40 male rats with an initial body weight of 220–240 g. The animals were divided into 4 equivalent groups of 10 rats each. The drug was applied daily for 7 days on a clipped skin in the back at doses of 1080; 540 and 216 mg/kg. During the experiment, we observed the general condition and behavior of animals, possible death, intake of food and water, visible physiological functions, the condition of the coat and skin at the site of application of the drug in order to evaluate the irritating effect. On the first day and 10 days after the last use of the drug, the animals were euthanized and blood samples were taken to determine hematological and biochemical parameters, a macroscopic examination of the organs was carried out, and the functional state of the central nervous system was evaluated.Results and discussion. Daily application on the skin of the drug in test doses did not lead to a change in the general condition and behavior of rats. Experienced animals normally took food and water, adequately responded to external stimuli. However, the recorded changes in some indicators indicate damage to the hepatocytes and indicate insufficient liver function. Given the increased relative liver mass of the animals of the first experimental group and the change in biochemical parameters, we can conclude that the drug has a pronounced hepatotoxic effect at a dose of 1080 mg/kg for cutaneous use for 7 days. Accordingly, the dose of 1080 mg/kg is toxic, the doses of 540 and 216 mg/kg are threshold.

Whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius), in North Cotton Growing Zone of India adversely affect cotton yield. Both the nymphal and adult stages of whitefly cause damage by sucking the sap from leaf tissue and honey dew secretion. In this study, the efficacy of new generation insecticides, viz. pyriproxyfen 10EC@1250 ml/ha, spiromesifen 22.9SC @500 ml/ha, flonicamid 50WG @200g/ha, and diafenthiuron 50WP @ 500g/ha were evaluated against different stages of whitefly under confined as well as field conditions in Bt cotton.The experiment conducted in screen house revealed significantly higher per cent reduction of whitefly nymphs in spiromesifen 22.9SC (49.36, 75.17) followed by pyriproxyfen 10EC (33.26, 75.07) in comparison to all other treatments after 5 and 7 days of spray, respectively. Under field conditions, pooled analysis of six experiments showed that flonicamid 50WP was more effective, being at par with pyriproxyfen 10EC, diafenthiuron 50WP, spiromesifen 22.9SC after 10 days of spray as compared to standard check, ethion 50EC and control against whitefly adults. It is concluded that pyriproxyfen10EC and spiromesifen 22.9SC have good nymphicidal action while flonicamid 50WP and diafenthiuron 50WP have adulticidal action.Therefore, for its effective management, these novel insecticides can be rotated alternatively depending upon the stage of pest dominating in the cotton field.

Abstract: Effects of the two insect growth regulators (IGRs) methoxyfenozide, 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) agonist, and pyriproxifen, Juvenile hormone (JH) agonist, were examined on the cellular immune responses of the Sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps versus the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana. The simultaneous treatment with the IGRs and the fungal spores altered haemocyte count (total and differentiate), nodulation response and phenoloxidase (PO) activity in a dose- and time-dependent manner. It was observed that different concentrations of methoxyfenozide increased total and differentiate haemocyte numbers as well as B. bassiana-induced nodulation response. In contrast with the JH agonist, pyriproxifen significantly decreased total and differentiate haemocyte numbers and inhibited nodule formation in E. integriceps adults. The 20E agonist displayed major effects when injected at the doses 2.79 and 5.59μg/mg adult. In contrast, injecting adults by pyriproxifen significantly impaired their ability to raise an efficacious response against the fungal spores. The ability of the two IGR analogues to interfere with activity of the PO system in haemolymph of E. integriceps adults was also investigated 6h after injection by fungal spores. Methoxyfenozide had an excitatory effect on PO activity when the 5.59μg/mg concentration was used against adults. Conversely, pyriproxifen had an inhibitory effect on PO activity when used at 1.49μg/mg adult concentration. These findings demonstrate that pyriproxifen may interfere with cell-mediated immunity of E. integriceps. So, pyriproxifen could be a good candidate for the integrated control of the Sunn pest. Abstract: Endocrine system has a critical role during the developmental stages of insects by synthesis of several regulatory hormones. One of these hormones is juvenile hormone that several insecticides have been driven based on its biochemical structure e.g. pyriproxifen. Due to various disadvantages of fenitrothione spraying, this study was carried out finding the possible usage of pyriproxifen to control the destructive population of Eurygaster integriceps. After bioassay treatments to acquire the appropriate concentrations, the treatment repeated to find possible changes in the biochemical compounds of hemolymph and reserved macromolecules in fat bodies. Results showed significant discrepancies in amount of biochemical components of the hemolymph and the reserved macromolecules in E. integriceps after pyriproxifen treatment. In hemolymph, activity level of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase as enzymatic components and uric acid as non-enzymatic one increased but acid phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, protein, trehalose and lipid showed adverse results. In fat bodies, the amount of all measured reserves including glycogen, lipid and protein decreased and showed significant differences. These kinds of changes have been supported by several studies due to using insecticides. These negative effects on overall physiology of the Sunn pest by depleting the essential compounds cause sensitivity to fungal infections and several shortages for normal development and reproduction of insect. Also, the adaptability of pyriproxifen to increase the effect of entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, should be considered to initiate a new pest management program to decrease the production loss made by E. integriceps in wheat fields. Bioassays were conducted in 2001 and 2002 to estimate toxicities and dose-response relationships of 24 Bemisia tabaci Gennadius populations to pyriproxifen, acemitaprid, and diafenthiuron. LC50s ranging from 0.014 to 0.096 mgL− 1, 0.60 to 1.3 mgL− 1, and 3.5 to 6.7 mgL− 1 were observed respectively for pyriproxifen, acemitaprid, and diafenthiuron. These LC50s much lower than the field doses recommended for each compound. A fast increase in rates of mortality within a narrow range of lethal concentrations was observed for each compound, indicating that all three compounds were highly effective at killing whiteflies. In a separate experiment, pyriproxifen, acemitaprid, and diafenthiuron were tested in 2001 and 2002 to compare their effectiveness and assess their impact on parasitism in the field. In both years all three compounds significantly prevented B. tabaci populations from reaching economic injury levels in cotton and minimized adverse effects on parasitism. Our results provide for the first time baseline toxicological, field efficacy, and effect on parasitism data for pyriproxifen, acemitaprid, and diafenthiuron against B. tabaci in West Africa. These compounds should be included in a resistance management program of the cotton pest complex and their use should be restricted to prevent the building of resistance in B. tabaci populations.
