In this study, we aimed to describe lower limb kinematic and muscle activation patterns and then to examine the potential associations between those variables and skating speed in highly trained ice-hockey players. Twelve players (age 18.4–22.0 years) performed five maximal 30-metre forward skating sprints. Skating speeds, muscle activities from eight lower limb muscles (gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, adductor magnus, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, biceps femoris, tibialis anterior and soleus), and sagittal plane joint angles from the hip and knee joint were measured. A lower activity of the gluteus maximus (r = −0.651, p = 0.022, β = −0.08) and a reduced gluteus maximus to rectus femoris coactivity (r = −0.786, p = 0.002, β = −3.26) during the recovery phase were found to be associated with faster skating speed. No significant associations were observed between sagittal plane hip and knee kinematics and skating speed. Background: Hypertension and exercise testing are essential for cardiovascular risk assessment. However, an exact description of blood pressure (BP) in patients with a hypertensive response during exercise (HRE), especially in the recovery phase is lacking. Herein, we aimed to analyse BP and heart rate during exercise testing and recovery in patients with an HRE. Methods: 800 patients aged 17–90 with an HRE during a standardized bicycle ergometry test were recruited. The BP behaviour during exercise testing was correlated with clinical data. Furthermore, data were analysed according to the presence of pre‐existent hypertension. Results: Of the 800 patients included in this study 497 (62%) were previously diagnosed with hypertension. Analysis of covariance showed a significantly faster systolic (β [95% CI] 8.0 [4.9–11.1]) and diastolic (2.4 [0.4–4.4]) BP recovery 3 min after maximal exercise in patients without hypertension in univariable models. These results remained robust in fully adjusted models taking into account age, sex, body mass index, cardiovascular disease, and antihypertensive treatment for systolic (5.3 [1.2–9.4]) and diastolic BP (4.5 [1.9–7.0]). Furthermore, patients with hypertension displayed higher systolic BP during maximal exercise in univariable (3.8 [0.1–7.5]) and fully adjusted (5.5 [1.1–10.0]) models. There was no difference in maximum diastolic BP between groups. Conclusion: In this large cohort study, patients without hypertension showed a faster systolic and diastolic BP recovery and lower maximal systolic BP compared to patients with hypertension. Objective: To explore the effect of online acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on the psychological flexibility in patients with depression during recovery. Methods: A total of 58 patients with depression during the recovery period were randomly divided into the online ACT intervention group (n=27) and the waiting control group (n=31). The intervention group received 20-day online ACT intervention, while the control group remained waiting. The Comprehensive Assessment of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (CompACT), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Five-Factor Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) and Mental Health Continuum Short Form (MHC-SF) were used to evaluate the two groups at the baseline, at the end of the 20-day intervention and 1 month after the intervention. Results: The scores of CompACT and MHC-SF were lower in the intervention group than in the control group at the end of the 20-day intervention and 1 month after the intervention (Ps <0.05). The scores of CompACT, PHQ-9, FFMQ and MHC-SF in the intervention group were lower at the end of the 20-day intervention and 1 month after the intervention than at the baseline (Ps <0.01). Conclusion: Online acceptance and commitment therapy could improve the level of psychological flexibility, mindfulness and mental health of patients with depression during recovery period, and reduce their depression level. ABSTRACT Background Epidemiological and economic literature has revealed that low birth weight (LBW) is related to poor health conditions and a broader range of negative socio‐economic outcomes, including academic achievement, income levels, and working status. However, Japanese evidence for labor outcomes is particularly lacking, as is the question of whether the impact of LBW on adulthood worsens when disasters occur. We aimed to reveal the impact on LBW on labor outcomes during the disaster recovery phase. Methods We used a cross‐sectional data set of 4156 national health insurance holders, males aged 40–60 years, from the Miyagi and Iwate prefectures during the earthquake recovery phase. Employing a multinomial probit and logistic model, we estimated the impact of LBW on the employment status, changes in income, and the propensity to face a decline in income with a job change. Results The very low birth weights (VLBWs) have a disadvantage in all labor market outcomes. Compared to the non‐LBWs, the VLBWs were 15.2% less likely to be full‐time/self‐employed and 17.1% more likely to be contingent/temporary/part‐time workers. Moreover, 32.9% are more likely to face a decline in income and approximately 3.7 times more likely to change jobs leading to income decline. The LBWs were likely to face a decline in income by 8.6% and 4.6%, respectively, but no other significant effects were found on other outcomes. Conclusions The effects were apparent for the VLBW, but not so much for the LBW. The effects became larger during the disaster recovery phase, even though the regional economies were boosted.

Background: Renal blood flow (RBF) decreases with exercise, but this change is only temporary, and habitual exercise may be an effective method to improve renal function. The kidney shows structural and functional changes with aging, but it is unclear how aging affects the hemodynamic response of the kidneys to exercise. Therefore, we evaluated the differences in the hemodynamic response of the kidneys to high-intensity exercise between younger and older men. Methods: Sixteen men (8 young and 8 older) underwent an incremental exercise test using a cycle ergometer with a 1-min warm up followed by exercise at 10–20 W/min until the discontinuation criteria were met. Renal hemodynamics were assessed before exercise, immediately after exercise, and at 60-min after exercise using ultrasound echo. Results: High-intensity exercise significantly reduced RBF in both groups (younger: ∆ – 53 ± 16%, p = 0.0005; older: ∆ – 53 ± 19%, p = 0.0004). In the younger group, RBF returned to the pre-exercise level 60-min after exercise (∆ – 0.4 ± 5.7%, p > 0.9999). In contrast, RBF 60-min after exercise was significantly lower than that before exercise in the older group (∆ – 24 ± 19%, p = 0.0006). The older group had significantly lower RBF than younger adults 60-min after exercise (423 ± 32 vs. 301 ± 98 mL/min, p = 0.0283). Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate that RBF following high-intensity exercise recovered 60-min after exercise in younger group, whereas RBF recovery was delayed in the older group. Abstract Background Dozens of studies have demonstrated gut dysbiosis in COVID-19 patients during the acute and recovery phases. However, a consensus on the specific COVID-19 associated bacteria is missing. In this study, we performed a meta-analysis to explore whether robust and reproducible alterations in the gut microbiota of COVID-19 patients exist across different populations. Methods A systematic review was conducted for studies published prior to May 2022 in electronic databases. After review, we included 16 studies that comparing the gut microbiota in COVID-19 patients to those of controls. The 16S rRNA sequence data of these studies were then re-analyzed using a standardized workflow and synthesized by meta-analysis. Results We found that gut bacterial diversity of COVID-19 patients in both the acute and recovery phases was consistently lower than non-COVID-19 individuals. Microbial differential abundance analysis showed depletion of anti-inflammatory butyrate-producing bacteria and enrichment of taxa with pro-inflammatory properties in COVID-19 patients during the acute phase compared to non-COVID-19 individuals. Analysis of microbial communities showed that the gut microbiota of COVID-19 recovered patients were still in unhealthy ecostates. Conclusions Our results provided a comprehensive synthesis to better understand gut microbial perturbations associated with COVID-19 and identified underlying biomarkers for microbiome-based diagnostics and therapeutics.

After a vacuum failure in a tokamak, plasma runaway or plasma disruptions frequently occur during plasma recovery, causing difficulties in rebuilding a well-confined collisional plasma. In this work, the impurity behavior during plasma recovery after a vacuum failure in the 2019 spring campaign of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) was studied by analyzing the spectra recorded by fast-time-response extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectrometers with 5 ms/frame. During the plasma current ramp-up in recovery discharges, a high content of the low-Z impurities of oxygen and carbon was found, i.e., dozens of times higher than that of normal discharges, which may have caused the subsequent runaway discharges. The electron temperature in the recovery discharge may have dropped to less than 75 eV when the collisional plasma quenched to the runaway status, based on the observable impurity ions in the two cases. Therefore, the lifetime of collisional plasma in the recovery discharge, τc, was deduced from the lifetime of H- and He-like oxygen and carbon ions identified from EUV spectra. It was found that, after several discharges with real-time lithium granule injection, the runaway electron flux and O+ influx reduced to 45% and 20%, respectively. Meanwhile, the lifetime of confined plasma was extended from 113 ms to 588 ms, indicating the effective suppression of impurities and runaway electrons and improvement in plasma performance by real-time lithium granule injection. Abstract Introduction The novel coronavirus, since its first identification in China, in December 2019, has shown remarkable heterogeneity in its clinical behavior. It has affected humans on every continent. Clinically, it has affected every organ system. The outcome has also been variable, with most of the older patients showing grave outcomes as compared with the younger individuals. Here we present a rare and severe variant of Guillain–Barre syndrome that complicated the disease in recovery phase. Case presentation A 60-year-old Afghan man, who had been recovering from symptoms related to novel coronavirus associated disease, presented with sudden onset of progressive muscle weakness and oxygen desaturation. Electrophysiological workup confirmed the diagnosis of Guillain–Barre syndrome, and early institution of intravenous immunoglobulin resulted in complete resolution. Conclusion Guillain–Barre syndrome has recently been reported in many patients diagnosed with novel coronavirus associated disease. While clinical suspicion is mandatory to guide towards an effective diagnostic workup, early diagnosis of this complication and timely institution of therapeutic interventions are indispensable and lifesaving.

Background and Objectives: The treadmill test (TMT) is a predictive tool for myocardial ischemia. Recently, exercise-provoked ventricular premature contracture (VPC) during TMT was shown to have a relation with coronary artery disease and cardiovascular mortality. Therefore, we evaluate clinical correlates of exercise-provoked VPC and compare the predictive power for myocardial ischemia and cardiovascular events. Method: Data of 408 patients (≥18 years of age) who underwent TMT for work up of angina, palpitation, dyspnea, syncope, or arrhythmia between February 2015, and January 2016, were collected with consent at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Among total of 408 patients, 208 were excluded according to the previous history of PCI or CABG, previous MI, decreased left ventricular ejection fraction lower than 50%, arrhythmia that could affect ST-segment change on ECG. Results: Among 200 patients, 32 (16.0%) developed exercise-provoked VPC (21 patients in the exercise phase, 20 patients in the recovery phase). Of them, 20 patients (10.0%) showed positive TMT, and 4 patients (2.0%) underwent revascularization after TMT. Among 21 patients showing exercise phase VPC, 5 (23.8%) showed positive TMT results. In patients younger than 65 years, exercise phase VPC was associated with positive TMT (odds ratio 6.879, 1.458–32.453) considering demographics and previous medical history in multivariable analysis. Among the 20 patients showing recovery phase VPC, 2 (10.0%) underwent revascularization after TMT. In multivariable analysis, recovery phase VPC was associated with revascularization (odds ratio 9.381, 1.144–76.948) considering age, sex, BMI, and TMT result. Although several studies have revealed distinct microbiota in asthmatic airways at baseline compared to healthy controls, limited studies compared microbiota during acute exacerbation (AE) and in the recovery phase (RP) in the same asthmatic children. We aim to investigate association between microbiota and asthma status in children and explore their relationship with clinical features of asthma. We recruited 56 asthmatic children and investigated their nasal, throat, and stool microbiota during AE and in the RP. Totally, 320 samples were subjected to 16S rRNA sequencing. Although the microbial communities were clearly separated by body site, within each site the overall communities during AE and in the RP could not be distinguished. Most nasal microbiota were dominated by only one or two of six bacterial genera. The domination was associated with mite allergy and patient age only during AE but not in the RP. When moving into RP, the relative abundance of Staphylococcus increased while that of Moraxella decreased. Throat and stool microbiota were not associated with most of the clinical features. Interestingly, stool microbiota during AE was associated with ABO blood type and stool microbiota in the RP was associated with frequency of the subsequent exacerbations. In summary, the association between nasal microbiota and mite allergy only during AE suggests an altered local immunity and its interplay with nasal microbes. Rice plants may experience submergence stress in various phases of plant development due to the unpredictable flash flooding occurred during planting season. Plants’ recovery phase after submergence is an important phase that determines plant survival. The character of plant growth and development during this recovery phase can be important information in determining the tolerance of plants to submerged stress. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the recovery phase of post-submerged rice plants indicated by the character of plant growth and development. Split plot design was utilized with rice cultivars as the main plot and submergence time subplot. Two cultivars used were IR 42 (non-tolerant cultivar) and Inpari 30 (tolerant cultivar), while submergence time consisted of three phases, namely: 1) generative initial phase = 42 days after transplanting (DAT); 2) active tillering phase = 28 DAT, and 3) early vegetative phase = 7 DAT. Plant samplings were conducted for six times: right before submergence (t0), right after submergence (t1), 4 days after submergence (t2), 7 days after submergence (t3), 10 days after submergence (t4) and 14 days after submergence (t5). Results showed that both cultivar and submergence time showed a non-significant effect on plant growth during recovery phase, except for leaf greenness parameter. The recovery pattern of rice plants after experiencing submergence stress was generally not influenced by the age of the plants during stress. In addition, improvements in plant growth characters began to appear after 10 days of recovery.

A geomagnetic storm is a phenomenon of weakening of Earth's magnetic field from a few hours to several days, which directly or indirectly affects navigation, transportation, communication, power grids, satellite electronics, etc. In general, the duration of the recovery phase is larger. Thus, its cumulative effect is greater than the main phase. Therefore, it is important to understand the physical processes involved during the recovery phase. In this paper, we have studied the recovery phase of 31 extreme geomagnetic storms that occurred from 1990 to 2020. Each storm demonstrates two distinct features of the recovery phase that is, initial fast and later slow recovery phase. During the fast recovery phase, the rate of recovery either linearly or non‐linearly depends on SYM−H, which has been characterized by an exponential or hyperbolic decay function in various reported studies. In our study, we have noted that the hyperbolic function explains the complete recovery phase of only 11 extreme events. Furthermore, both decay functions fail to explain the late recovery phase of storms. Interestingly, we have found that the rate of recovery during the slow phase shows steady variation (independent to SYM−H), that is, d(SYM−H)dt=constant. Our analysis suggests that the magnitude of the recovery rate during the late phase is proportional to the magnitude of the storm. The chest CT imaging scores were considerably higher in the severe group compared with those in the mild group (median value, 10.0 vs 9.0, P = 0.011), while markedly lower in the recovery period than those in the acute phase (median value, 2.0 vs 9.0, P<0.001), and so were for the stratified patients. ROC curve analysis revealed that areas under the curve of lymphocyte counts (LYM), C-reaction protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and SP-D for severe COVID-19 were 0.719, 0.833, 0.817, 0.837, and 0.922, respectively. Correlation analysis showed that the SP-D levels were negatively correlated with LYM (r = - 0.320, P = 0.047), while positively correlated with CRP (r = 0.658, P<0.001), IL-6 (r = 0.471, P = 0.002), the duration of nucleic acid of throat swab turning negative (r = 0.668, P<0.001), chest CT imaging score on admission (r = 0.695, P<0.001) and length of stay (r = 0.420, P = 0.008). Multivariate logistic regression model analysis showed that age (P = 0.041, OR = 1.093) and SP-D (P = 0.008, OR = 1.018) were risk factors for severe COVID-19.Conclusions: Elevated serum SP-D level was a potential biomarker for the severity of COVID-19; this may be useful in identifying patients whose condition worsens at an early stage. This proof of concept study is dedicated to the quantification of the short-term recovery phase of the muscle oxygenation and whole-body oxygen uptake kinetics following an exhaustive cycling protocol. Data of 15 healthy young participants (age 26.1 ± 2.8 years, peak oxygen uptake 54.1 ± 5.1 mL∗min-1∗kg-1) were recorded during 5 min cool down-cycling with a power output of 50 W on an electro-magnetically braked cycle ergometer. The oxygen uptake (VO2) signal during recovery was modeled by exponential function. Using the model parameters, the time (T1/2) needed to return VO2 to 50% of VO2peak was determined. The Hill’s model was used to analyze the kinetics of oxyhemoglobin concentration (Sm, %), non-invasively recorded by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) over the M. vastus lateralis. Analysis of the Pearson correlation results in statistically significant negative relationships between T1/2 and relative VO2peak (r = −0.7). Relevant significant correlations were determined between constant defining the slope of VO2 decrease (parameter B) and the duration of the anaerobic phase (r = −0.59), as well as between Hill’s coefficient and average median Smmax for the final 2 min of recovery. The high correlation between traditional variables commonly used to represent the cardio-metabolic capacity and the parameters of fits from exponential and Hill models attests the validity of our approach. Thus, proposed descriptors, derived from non-invasive NIRS monitoring during recovery, seem to reflect aerobic capacity. However, the practical usefulness of such modeling for clinical or other vulnerable populations has to be explored in studies using alternative testing protocols.

This proof of concept study is dedicated to the quantification of the short-term recovery phase of the muscle oxygenation and whole-body oxygen uptake kinetics following an exhaustive cycling protocol. Data of 15 healthy young participants (age 26.1 ± 2.8 years, peak oxygen uptake 54.1 ± 5.1 mL∗min-1∗kg-1) were recorded during 5 min cool down-cycling with a power output of 50 W on an electro-magnetically braked cycle ergometer. The oxygen uptake (VO2) signal during recovery was modeled by exponential function. Using the model parameters, the time (T1/2) needed to return VO2 to 50% of VO2peak was determined. The Hill's model was used to analyze the kinetics of oxyhemoglobin concentration (Sm, %), non-invasively recorded by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) over the M. vastus lateralis. Analysis of the Pearson correlation results in statistically significant negative relationships between T1/2 and relative VO2peak (r = −0.7). Relevant significant correlations were determined between constant defining the slope of VO2 decrease (parameter B) and the duration of the anaerobic phase (r = −0.59), as well as between Hill's coefficient and average median Smmax for the final 2 min of recovery. The high correlation between traditional variables commonly used to represent the cardio-metabolic capacity and the parameters of fits from exponential and Hill models attests the validity of our approach. Thus, proposed descriptors, derived from non-invasive NIRS monitoring during recovery, seem to reflect aerobic capacity. Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the top lethal and disabling form of stroke. The pathophysiology of ICH is not fully understood yet. Metabolites are indicators and regulators of cellular processes. However, the overall brain metabolic pattern and the temporal alterations after ICH remain unknown. A total of 40 male rats were randomly assigned to sham group and ICH group. ICH was induced by collagenase Ⅶ. Body weight was assessed. Neurological deficits were evaluated by modified neurological severity score. Then, the perihematomal brain tissues were collected for metabolites detection using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). The metabolic profiles were displayed by principal component analysis (PCA), partial least-squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and cluster analysis. The significant differential metabolites were screened by fold change > 2.0, the false discovery rate (FDR) < 0.05 and Variable Importance of Projection (VIP) > 1. Next, the relevant metabolic pathways were discerned by MetaboAnalyst website. A metabolite-protein interaction network was subsequentially constructed to further annotate the function of differential metabolites. Rats suffered from compromised body weight increasement and impaired neurological function. The metabolomics profiles of brain tissues in the post-ICH rats were markedly different from those in the sham group on days 3 and 14. Thirty-four metabolites (bilirubin, uric acid, 6-Methylnicotinamide et al.) were abnormally upregulated in the acute stage, while 27 metabolites were disturbed in the recovery stage, including bilirubin, uric acid, and histamine et al. Seven and three metabolic pathways altered in the acute and recovery stage, respectively. Metabolite-protein interaction analysis revealed that the disturbed metabolites may participate in ICH pathophysiology by altering amino acid metabolism, peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor signaling pathway, fatty acid metabolism and urea cycle in the acute stage, while influencing amino acid metabolism, urea cycle and peroxisome in the recovery stage. Our study mapped the pathological metabolomics profiles of the post-ICH rat brains in the acute and recovery phases. Objectives: To identify the economic, social, and geopolitical impacts of the Corona pandemic on the country's tourism industry; to identify ways to enhance domestic tourism so as to increase income in the Oman's tourism industry which has since been declining; to identify specific travel destinations and associated recovery plans; and to suggest recommendations on the best approaches to improving the Oman tourism sector. Methodology: The research involved collection of primary data using interviews where opinions and perceptions of Omani tourism industry experts were collected regarding economic, social, and geopolitical impacts of the Corona pandemic on the country's tourism industry; the rationale of lifting travel restrictions and the ways of increasing traveller confidence amidst the uncertainties and fears associated with Covid-19 in Oman; ways to enhance domestic tourism so as to increase income in the Oman's tourism industry which has since been declining; and recommendations on the best approaches to improving the Oman tourism sector. Findings: The main impacts of coronavirus on Omani tourism industry include loss of revenue and reduction in hotel and occupancy rate. These effects resulted into massive job losses, unpaid leave and pay cuts amongst employees in the country's tourism industry. The measures to be taken to enhance recovery of the tourism industry were categorized into two: government measures and business measures. Value added: With the multiple adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the tourism sector, this study will help in establishing the potential measures of fostering the positive outcomes in the sector. The clinical advantage staging and underlying mechanisms of Wangbi Tablets against knee osteoarthritis(KOA) were studied based on the &quot;disease-formula&quot; interaction network. Firstly, the clinical symptoms and related genes corresponding to Wangbi Tablets and KOA in the acute, remission, and recovery phases were collected from clinical guidelines/consensus and SoFDA database, and the putative targets of Wangbi Tablets were obtained from ETCM 2.0. Then, Jaccard similarity and cosine similarity were employed to assess the similarities of clinical symptoms, genes, and enriched pathways between Wangbi Tablets and KOA in different phases. The &quot;disease-formula&quot; interaction network of the drug targets and disease genes was constructed, and the key targets were screened by topological feature calculation. KEGG and Reactome database were used for the functional enrichment of the key targets, on the basis of which the functional characteristics of Wangbi Tablets against KOA in the acute, remission, and recovery phases were predicted. Finally, the SW1353 cells exposed to lipopolysaccharide were used to decipher the mechanism of Wangbi Tablets against KOA. The results showed that 92/3 921, 138/3 708, 139/3 800, and 196/3 946 clinical symptoms and the related genes corresponded to KOA in the acute, remission, and recovery phases and Wangbi Tablets were collected from SoFDA, and 260 putative targets of Wangbi Tablets were obtained from ETCM 2.0. Wangbi Tablets had highest similarity of clinical symptoms, genes, and enriched pathways with KOA in the remission phase and the secondary highest similarity with KOA in the recovery phase. The key targets of Wangbi Tablets mainly participated in the regulation of immunity-inflammation imbalance and exerted pain-relieving and bone-protecting effects to alleviate symptoms such as knee joint pain, joint swelling, soreness, fatigue, and dysfunction. Intriguingly, the key targets of Wangbi Tablets possessed antioxidant effects during KOA in the acute and remission phases, while they maintained material and energy metabolism homeostasis and protected vessels during KOA in the recovery phase. The cell experiment indicated that Wangbi Tablets down-regulated the expression of interleukin(IL)-6, IL-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), and Bcl-2-associated X protein(Bax)/B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2) via regulating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)-protein kinase B(Akt) signaling pathway. Global Proprioceptive Resonance (GPR) is a recently developed approach conceived to solicit the various cutaneous mechanoreceptors, through application of mechanical multifocal vibration at low amplitude and at definite body sites, limiting the stimulation of the profound structures. This interventional study evaluated the effects of GPR on cardiorespiratory function during the post-exertional recovery period. A group of volunteers involved in Triathlon (a multisport discipline consisting of sequential swim, cycle, and run disciplines higly demanding in terms of metabolic engagment), underwent two maximal incremental exercise tests until exhaustion followed alternatively to (a) a 13 minutes section of GPR or (b) a standard low intensity exercise acute trend of the same duration. These effects of these two approaches were compared in terms of recovery of: heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) and venous lactate concentration (Lac). Abstract The low‐latitude ionospheric TEC observed by the Beidou geostationary satellite showed large enhancement during 27–30 August 2018 of the storm recovery phase. The cause of the positive ionospheric storm during the recovery phase has yet to be resolved. In this study, multiple observations, including aurora, high‐latitude convection, potential, and the TEC maps, were used to study the contributions from the high‐speed solar wind to the ionosphere during the recovery phase of the storm. It was found that the high‐speed solar wind was effective in modulating the intensity and the size of the auroral oval, high‐latitude convection, and potential pattern. The Thermosphere Ionosphere Electrodynamics General Circulation Model generally reproduced the observed evolution of the ionosphere at high latitudes during the recovery phase of the storm, and it was used to quantitatively investigate the effects of the high‐speed solar wind on the recovery phase ionosphere. The results suggested that the high‐speed solar wind caused increase of TEC at auroral oval was about 2 TECU. The high‐speed solar wind, combined with oscillating interplanetary magnetic field Bz, led to the enhancement of the low‐latitude prompt penetrating electric fields and increased the low‐latitude TEC of about 2 TECU. Therefore, the high‐speed solar wind was a possible driver to the ionospheric positive storm during the recovery phase, but the causes for the more than 10‐TECU enhancement at low and middle latitudes during the recovery phase of this event are unknown.

Background and Objectives: The treadmill test (TMT) is a predictive tool for myocardial ischemia. Recently, exercise-provoked ventricular premature contracture (VPC) during TMT was shown to have a relation with coronary artery disease and cardiovascular mortality. Therefore, we evaluate clinical correlates of exercise-provoked VPC and compare the predictive power for myocardial ischemia and cardiovascular events. Method: Data of 408 patients (≥18 years of age) who underwent TMT for work up of angina, palpitation, dyspnea, syncope, or arrhythmia between February 2015, and January 2016, were collected with consent at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Among total of 408 patients, 208 were excluded according to the previous history of PCI or CABG, previous MI, decreased left ventricular ejection fraction lower than 50%, arrhythmia that could affect ST-segment change on ECG. Results: Among 200 patients, 32 (16.0%) developed exercise-provoked VPC (21 patients in the exercise phase, 20 patients in the recovery phase). Of them, 20 patients (10.0%) showed positive TMT, and 4 patients (2.0%) underwent revascularization after TMT. Among 21 patients showing exercise phase VPC, 5 (23.8%) showed positive TMT results. In patients younger than 65 years, exercise phase VPC was associated with positive TMT (odds ratio 6.879, 1.458–32.453) considering demographics and previous medical history in multivariable analysis. Among the 20 patients showing recovery phase VPC, 2 (10.0%) underwent revascularization after TMT. In multivariable analysis, recovery phase VPC was associated with revascularization (odds ratio 9.381, 1.144–76.948) considering age, sex, BMI, and TMT result. Conclusion: VPC during the treadmill test was a useful predictor of myocardial ischemia in this study.

Abstract Background Despite numerous reports of significant distress and burden for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients and caregivers (CGs), HSCT-specific coping interventions remain rare. The few in use lack specificity and are often not easily accessible or cost-effective. Whereas the development of new interventions is resource-intensive, theory-informed adaptation of existing evidence-based interventions is promising. To date, no HSCT-specific intervention has relied on a formal adaptation approach. Methods Using the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Map of Adaptation, this two-phase qualitative descriptive study seeks to understand the perceptions of HSCT patients, CGs, individually, and in dyads, and clinicians about Coping Together (CT) for the preliminary adaptation (Phase 1), and then explores perceptions of the modified intervention in additional mixed sample (Phase 2). Six to ten participants including outpatients, CGs and dyads and five to seven HSCT clinician participants will be recruited for Phase 1. For Phase 2, 14 to 16 participants including outpatients, CGs and dyads will be recruited. Individual and dyadic semi-structured interviews will take place between 100 and 130 days post-HSCT. Verbatim transcripts will be analyzed using content analysis. Discussion It is paramount to have HSCT-specific supportive interventions that address patients’ and CGs’ multidimensional and complex needs. The timely involvement of key stakeholders throughout the adaptation process is likely to optimize the relevance and uptake of such tailored intervention. Recently, deep learning methods have made a remarkable improvement in compressed sensing image recovery stage. In the compressed measurement stage, the existing methods measured by block by block owing to a huge measurement dictionary for the whole images and the high computational complexity. In this work, a novel deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) named Convolutional Measurement Compressed Sensing network (CMCS‐net) is proposed for image compressed sensing considering both convolutional measurement (CM) and sparse prior. Different from existing works, the convolution operation is adopted both in the measurement phase and reconstruction phase, which retains the structure information of images much better. Simultaneously, the size of the measurement matrix is no longer limited by data dimensions. Particularly, by unfolding the CM process to analyse a Toeplitz‐type matrix, the theoretical support of the convolutional compressed measurement is proposed. In addition, in the recovery phase, the authors consider the sparse prior in nature images by embedding the truncated hierarchical projection algorithm into their architecture to solve the problem of multilayered convolutional sparse coding. In this study, the ionospheric responses in the Asian‐Australian, American, and African sectors during the August 2018 geomagnetic storm were investigated based on the Beidou geostationary orbit (GEO) satellite and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Madrigal total electron contents (TECs), combined with measurements from ionosondes, magnetometers, and Global Ultraviolet Imager (GUVI). The middle‐ and low‐latitude TECs were dominated by positive responses over the three longitudinal sectors during the storm on 26–29 August. It is unique that daytime TECs at the Asian‐Australian, American, and African sectors displayed large enhancements larger than 10 TEC units (TECu) on 27–29 August, during the recovery phase, when the ionosphere is usually dominated by plasma depletions due to the ionospheric disturbance dynamo and/or disturbed thermospheric compositions. The combination and competition of the disturbed vertical plasma drifts through the solar wind‐magnetosphere‐ionosphere (SW‐M‐I) coupling and disturbed neutral compositions contribute significantly to the daytime TEC responses at different longitudinal sectors on 26 August during the main and early recovery phases. The eastward equatorial electrojet and O/N2 during the recovery phase on 27–29 August are larger than the quiet reference, which suggest that the enhanced upward vertical plasma drifts combining with higher O/N2 make an important contribution on the daytime positive ionospheric storm during the recovery phase. The enhanced vertical plasma drifts could not be driven by the SW‐M‐I coupling or ionospheric disturbance dynamo associated with the geomagnetic storm. Further studies should be untaken to explore the dominant sources for the enhanced upward vertical drifts during the recovery phase. Psychotria ipecacuanha is a medicinal plant endangered in Colombia, due to the indiscriminate exploitation suffered several decades ago for its therapeutic importance. Its great medicinal value is due to emetine production and its derivatives, mainly in the roots. Given these concerns, the aim of this research was to evaluate different parameters for in vitro conservation of P. ipecacuanha by a limited plant growth, using as in vitro explants plant nodes. Plant growth response to 18, 23 and 25°C with and without addition to MS basal culture medium 15 and 30 gL-1 of mannitol osmotic regulator was evaluated. Registration of plant survival data (%), plant height (cm), plant development of axillary shoots, number of leaves, callus formation and vigour of developed buds and was initially performed at 3 months and then every two months until 12 months. The explants conserved for 9 months in culture medium without mannitol osmotic regulator and temperature of 18°C, showed response after transferring and reculturing in recovery culture medium for 6-8 weeks, this process had not achieved any effect on plant growth and vigour in the recovery phase. In addition, the critical parameters in the acclimatization process were determined.

The gate terminal is transiently negatively biased and further relaxed with positive bias conditions for ample time for the recovery of the initial characteristics. This study focused on the investigation of daytime positive ionospheric disturbances and the recurrence of total electron content (TEC) enhancements. TEC data derived from the Beidou geostationary satellite over the Asian-Australian sector were used to study the occurrence of TEC enhancements during 2016–2018. The occurrence of TEC enhancements under quiet geomagnetic condition was analyzed. Furthermore, the occurrence of TEC enhancements during different geomagnetic storm phases was considered to address the question that relates to the recurrence of TEC enhancements during the recovery phase of geomagnetic storms. The seasonal variation of TEC enhancements displayed equinoctial and solstitial peaks at the middle and low latitudes respectively. Besides, there was no evident systematic latitudinal dependence in the occurrence of TEC enhancements, albeit at the equatorial station, nearly no TEC enhancement was observed under Kp < 3. Meanwhile, the occurrences during the main phases of the geomagnetic storms were significantly above the TEC enhancement baselines except at HKWS. The prominence of TEC enhancements during the main phase in comparison with the initial and recovery phases could be attributed to the effects of prompt penetration electric fields and equator-ward neutral winds. Moreover, the pattern of TEC enhancements during the storm recovery indicates the effects of chemical composition changes, winds, and the possible modulation from the lower atmospheric forcing.
