The purpose of this study is to study the effect of the implementation of the method of early surgical rehabilitation on the dynamics of the content of C-reactive protein in the serum of patients after knee arthroplasty. Material and methods. The study included: patients’ questioning, analysis of inpatient medical records, postoperative treatment. Fifty patients with stage 3 gonarthrosis were examined according to N.S. Kosinskaya. Patients were subjected to a study that included an examination of an orthopedic traumatologist with a clinical assessment of the patient's condition on the KOOS (The Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score) scale. The control of the content of C-reactive protein in serum was performed by immunoturbidimetric analysis at 5 stages of the study. Results. At stage 1, the content of C-reactive protein in the serum of patients in the groups was 1.54 (0.61; 3.65), 14.9 (8.17; 26.3) mg /l, respectively (p> 0.05). At stage 2 of the study, the content of C-reactive protein in groups was 39.58 (19.8; 64.5), 34.55 (23.1; 69.47) mg/l, respectively (p

This work was carried out in the Monumento Nacional Bosque de Piedra “Isabel Rubio" in Guane municipality, Pinar del Río province, Cuba. It was aimed at proposing the participatory actions that contribute to mitigate the process of degradation in this ecosystem. Social information was collected for this purpose. The methods used were Participatory Rapid Diagnosis, Participative Action Research, as well as the Participative Scientific Observation. The techniques used for the collection of information were: semi-structured interview and participant observation. Significant results in this study include the following. It was found that among the causes that contribute to the degradation of the ecosystem are: logging of species of high commercial value, burning of the tropical karstic forests, construction of roads and insufficient knowledge local players have in relation to the patrimonial and natural values of the monument in the area under study. The consequences of these human actions were also identified and an action plan based on four lines of work (rehabilitation, training, integration and promotion) was designed including real community participation in solving problems in relation to this heritage. It is concluded that the causes of the ecosystem deterioration are related to the anthropic action from negative positions, thus the participation of local players from a committed perspective for rehabilitation process is necessary. Despite the burgeoning literature on theater and volunteers in prisons, there is little research that looks at the prison theater experience through the eyes of both the outside volunteers and the prisoner-participants. This article seeks to weave together the voices of the co-authors in order to explore shared experiences of the prison theater classroom. These experiences – variously described as ‘magical’ and ‘transcendent’ – are dependent on the volunteer successfully navigating entry into the prison. The space of the prison theater classroom then becomes a relational refuge where both prisoners and volunteers can feel welcome and accepted, seen not as other but as essential.

The prevalence of osteoporosis and fractures is projected to increase rapidly in the Asia-Pacific region in coming decades. At the societal level, healthcare providers will face the challenges of paucity of information, lack of awareness among physicians, resource constraints, lack of organization, absence of policies of cost reimbursement, insufficient representation of the problem in curricula and lack of effective, inexpensive and convenient therapy. Poverty, illiteracy, lack of awareness and interest in future quality of life, and co-morbidities with seemingly greater importance, will all act as challenges at the level of individual patients. Lack of compliance is a function of lack of awareness and motivation, cost, complexity of administration, side-effects and absence of immediately perceivable benefit. The challenges may be overcome through systematic collection of data, formation or activation of national osteoporosis planning and coordinating groups, development of national guidelines, programs of education of healthcare providers, patients and the general public, adoption of a population-based prevention strategy, cost-effective opportunistic screening using clinical decision rules like the osteoporosis self-assessment tool for Asians, use of the fracture risk assessment tool for therapeutic decision-making, giving due emphasis to the problem in curricula and development of mechanisms for cost reimbursement. The Asia-Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology may take a lead in stimulating, organizing and coordinating these activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

International audience; This research examines the perception of a heritage place, richness from a historical and architectural point of view, and rehabilitation at the place of service. The question is how the fingerprints of the past, allow customers to experience a unique experience. The advanced conceptual framework tested with structural modeling can identify dimensions of a service space holding significant cultural value and the perceptions of clients according to their degree of acculturation and appropriation to space. The results show that the level of acculturation of the client moderates the relations between the rehabilitated physical environment and the quality of the offer on the one hand and the intention of fidelity on the other hand.

Improvement of sensory strategies is a relevant part of balance rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aimed to Assess the effectiveness of visual-feedback exercises in improving balance in MS. We divided 36 patients into Wii and control-treated groups that underwent balance rehabilitation. Outcomes were obtained for Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Modified Fatigue Impact Scale, and sway area under conditions of opened and closed eyes. BBS showed a statistically significant improvement (from 49.6 to 54.6 points, p < 0.05) in the Wii group. Interactive visual-feedback exercises such as Wii could be more effective than the current standard protocol in improving balance disorders in MS.

Collaboration with relatives: Why it can be a challenge? In this ethnographic fieldwork the practices and perspectivesof collaboration of healthcare professionals and their clients’ relatives was explored in a context ofmunicipal rehabilitation service in Denmark. The analytical framework was inspired by Nanna Mik-Meyer’snotion of “rationales”, important to the work of health care professionals. The analysis showed that the cooperationbetween healthcare workers and the relatives was characterized by 5 different and partly parallel categories.1. Relatives – a relief of burden. 2. Relatives – creators of coherence. 3. Cooperation with relatives – alegal obligation. 4. The invisible relatives. 5. Relatives – an obstacle in rehabilitation. Overall, the findingsindicate that the practice of the healthcare professionals` collaboration with relatives is complex. The healthcareprofessionals show intentions to prioritize the collaboration, but the framework of the wellfare state gives anessential challenge to comply it. Since the praxis of the health care professionals is often driven by time, themore time demanding relatives are downprioritised and simplified. An increased awareness about the rationalesand their downsides can increase the mutual understanding in the collaboration with relatives.
