The psychological consultation is a moment of great importance in approaching problems concerning psychological distress. This commentary reiterates, on the basis of personal clinical experience, the importance of the space dedicated to psychological consultation even in the context of child psychotherapy practised in a free-professional context.

The life of St. Francis is marked in its various stages by illness and suffering. Biographers agree that he suffered from stomach, liver, spleen and eye pain. Francis had a special bond with every creature, re-establishing a brotherhood that finds its foundation in Jesus Christ. He urged the friars to take care of the sick as they would like it done for themselves when they are sick, both physically and spiritually. Two years before dying, he climbed the mountain of Verna and received the Sacred Stigmata as a sign of his love and passion for Christ. The "Poverello" (the poor man) strove to follow, imitate and conform his life to that of Christ. In our article we stopped to reflect on relationships healed by love, a sign of consolation and spiritual anointing in St. Francis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

I have been asked to write an article on «Autism Spectrum Disorder in Adults» in this special issue on «Loneliness». Autism and loneliness seem to go hand in hand. The desire for relationship is not primarily reduced in people with autism, but finding a connection is difficult. I will formulate a description of the phenomenon of autism. Not a description of the surface, as it can be found in the diagnostic classification or in every clinical textbook, but a description from the perspective of the newer, mechanistic neuroscientific explanations. How do the idiosyncratic mental worlds of affected individuals develop, which are so difficult to reconcile with the mental worlds of others? Above all, however, you should be able to read an article here about ways to escape loneliness; about the ability to enter into relationships with people. It is written from the perspective of people with an autism spectrum disorder who have travelled the long and stony way out of their own world into the strange world of other people. People who live in loneliness can learn something from people with autism who have found relationships despite their innate difficulty in socialising with others. The path they take this is a special one, as is the quality of the resulting connections, which are often of particular depth and beauty. It is possible for all of us if we are open to finding what connects us in the differences of each other. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CLINICAL medicine , *PSYCHOANALYSIS , *PSYCHOTHERAPY , *PSYCHOANALYSTS , *MEDICAL personnel - Abstract
The authors aim to present in the form of a dialogue between two psychoanalysts, Psi1 and Psi2, some theoretical and practical controversies encountered in Relational Psychoanalysis and, more generally, in the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The two clinicians discuss in depth the concept of ‘configuration’ in relational psychoanalysis, questioning its meaning and clinical application, and highlighting the complexity of the method. The debate begins with the concept of trauma and where it stands in relation to the configuration of the I-Subject. Psi1 highlights the unsaturated nature of meta-criteria, warning of theoretical self-referentiality, while Psi2 focuses on the importance of clinical practice and understanding the specificity of the patient. Through this comparison, the authors offer an open and flexible view of the clinical perspective, aiming to respect the uniqueness of each individual. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This contribution, in part discussed by the authors at the ‘Andare Avanti’ study day organized in January 2023, seeks to outline the role played by co-reflective dialogue between patient and therapist, in the emergence of Subjectivity and the sense of agency in psychotherapy. Starting from the analysis of concepts that have become classics in the Psychoanalysis of Relationships, such as those of ‘creativity’ and ‘delegation’, a theoretical revisiting of them is proposed aimed at recovering the implicit, corporeal and intersubjective bases of the therapeutic process. In an attempt to describe the complex links between the self-reflective and pre-reflective, individual and relational dimensions of the sense of agency in psychotherapy, the analysis of a clinical vignette is proposed.

- Abstract
When encountering a family struggling with the human dimensions of dying, the family therapist cannot help but ask himself fundamental questions with profound ethical implications: how and when it is best to mend the split between medical time and the psychic times of the family? How can we support the freedom of choice both of the individual and the system when these do not coincide? Every functional loss dictated by the disease requires more caregivers and equipment which must be added: how and to what extent can the family integrate them? How can the therapist manage the Use of Self when dealing with constant losses? Does it make sense to offer psychotherapy, and on what dimensions does it have to work? Through the reflections on the clinical processes conducted by the Mourning team of the Clinical Center of the Accademia di psicoterapia della famiglia in Rome, the goal of our work has become to identify and strengthen the elements that allow the therapeutic system to keep on working with the vital processes of the family. The unsettling process of dying force the therapeutic system -- which in our thinking includes enlarged family, friends and therapists -- into continuous adaptive change; only by tolerating impotence and be willing to learn from this painful experience can the destructuring loss also became an opportunity to reconstruct new ways of communicating, of being, of living. Rebuilding relationships, seeking and fortifying intact resources, working on the meanings of Time and the conscious choice of how to live it, are the core of our clinical work. The therapeutic relationship is the elective place of this process of mutual learning that allows the family to know and recognize each other even within the new boundaries imposed by the disease and lead the therapists towards new edges of themselves and of what can be considered therapeutic. This article offers an original interpretation of Otherness and Foreignness concepts, based on the peculiarities and challenges of intercultural helping relationships. In the social work discourse, the concepts of 'Otherness' and 'Foreignness' are core, often mentioned in a non-relational way adopting legal and administrative logics that involuntarily reproduce one-sided dynamics and borders between insider and outsider, Self and Other, and helper and helpee. The initial conceptual point of the paper is the recognition that each helping relationship starts with a reciprocal state of foreignness in which nobody is a foreigner by definition. Instead, at the beginning, each is foreigner to the other. Otherness, mutual foreignness, and sharing are the defining factors of social work relationships. This theoretical contribution can inspire educators, practitioners, and researchers in stimulating insights, challenging unethical misconceptions, and revisiting personal and societal representations about people from migration background, overcoming barriers for social work practice and education purposes. - Abstract
The article aims to underline how forms of narration in general, and television series in particular, play a fundamental role in the construction of contemporary imagination. Narratives, in fact, perform a peculiar function in that search for meaning which still today raises questions about the insurmountability of death and the problem of evil, the destiny and purpose of human existence. Secondly, the reflection intends to deepen the revival and re-reading of the Christian imagination made by the products of the contemporary cultural industry, regarding the prospect of life after death, the destiny of the soul and the future of corporality between transcendence and immanence. Come cambia l'affettività? E ancora: che fine fanno i corpi nelle relazioni digitali?

- Abstract
From Freud to Winnicott, Gaddini, Aulagnier and Green, psychoanalysis has questioned the origins, emphasising the impact of sensory experience and the somato-psychic unity that characterises the human subject. The importance of the body and sensoriality at the origins of the subject and relationality can be traced back to prenatal life. When life events produce lacerations, cancellations and voids in this original sense-motor fabric, the sharing of those very intense and idiosyncratic sensorial experiences that qualify every parent-baby relationship also fails, producing deep and unrepresentable suffering that extends to the world of relationships. The first sessions with an adoptive family show that, when there is an early or prenatal traumatic situation, characterised by a total discontinuity of the sensorial and relational experience, its traces are imprinted in the bodily, sensorial and musical elements of the experience and relationship. In order to get in touch with the most regressive, formless and archaic aspects of the functioning of the group and its members, we must rely on our bodies and senses. More specifically, a musical listening can enable us to gather the rhythms and modulations of the interactions between family members. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The author analyses some of the peculiar features of the so-called gallows literature [letteratura di patibolo] that was widespread in Europe during Modernity. Composed by printed publications, it became a popular literary genre between the seventeenth and the nineteenth centuries. The authors, who were following implicit rules, were either professional writers or improvised scribblers. The writings were circulating under the names of Relazioni di giustizia (Reports of Justice), of Ragguagli di giustizia (News on Justice), Historie, etc. These small pamphlets in quarto (sometimes even in octavo) were distributed by publishers, printers and merchants, sold door to door, peddled by paperboys at mass ceremonies, at fairs or on the very day of a capital execution. In this essay, the analysis of gallows literature's main features is followed by the presentation of two reports of justice, both published in 1671 (Perfetta e veridica Relazione delli processi criminali et esecuzione delli medi, fattasi contro li trè Conti Francesco Nadasdi, Petar Zrinski e Francesco Christoforo Frangepani), the first kept in Verona's municipal library, the second kept in Venice's San Marco National Library. It recounts the last moments in the lives of three aristocrats, protagonists of the conspiracy against Emperor Leopold I, executed in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt. Zrinski and Frankopan would later become symbols of the struggle for the unity and independence of Croatia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Starting from semantic affinities, the article develops a reflection on the theme of the assembly gathered in the context of synodality. The assembly is seen in itself, before being seen as an object, bringing out the self-awareness of a "baptismal we". The subject is addressed within an ecclesiological framework, raising questions about the relational principle, the concept of the Church as assembly, and the pneumatological dimension. Some peculiar traits are also noted, such as the relationship with mission. The aim is to validate the potential of the assembly in order to build a synodal Church, accrediting its epiphanic and actuative role. The question arises as to how to get out of its predominantly liturgical praxis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The research focuses on the right to personal identity, which is considered a fundamental right for the full development of the individual. It analyzes the evolution of this right in the context of several identity claims necessitating legal recognition. The objective is to identify the foundation of the right to personal identity and to establish criteria for classifying the various identity claims as expressions of this right. To this end, the research examines the conceptions of personal identity that have emerged from the legal point of view and the interpretations of the relative right by Italian, supranational and finally European doctrine and jurisprudence. The results of the research show that the scope of the right to identity is extremely broad and sometimes unclear and elusive. Furthermore, it demonstrates that the components that comprise the right to personal identity have yet to be explicitly defined by case precedents. The finding presents a "catalogue of identities" that varies in scope depending on the court and the specific case details. In light of the outcomes, a potential constitutional interpretation of the right to personal identity is introduced as an individual's entitlement to personal relationships.

The author introduces a journey through the "Old and new frontiers of family therapy", starting from a review of the special issues of the journal Terapia Familiare published since its foundation in 1977 to the year 2005. A common thread is identified among the articles contained in those issues that follows some unifying themes: the legacy of the family movement and its representation; the fundamental feelings about the family relationship that emerge in that inheritance; the different conceptions of the relationship and their ethics; the influence of the legacy of the movement on the training path of those who learn to do psychotherapy in relational and systemic schools. The title alludes to the "pith of the plant", its essential heart, which once planted generates the new. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The time we are living through is characterized by many fears and anxieties, because is seems that everything is slowly eroding. Relationships are constitutive of the self, the “I”: becoming aware of that is a warning that our being is not self-referential, and putting it into practice in our various daily activities is the way to put into practice the anteriority of our selves with respect to the Cartesian ‘ego cogito.’ In being turned towards others, we have in mind the request for love and meaning that each person expresses in every gesture. In caring for the irreducible fragility of others, we recognize them as valuable and deserving of respect and as desiring and needing to be seen in a way that does not erase their identity, but rather always recognizes, appreciates, and values them so as favor their full and complete flourishing. - Abstract
The synodal journey can take on a profound pedagogical and educational value if we recognize the opportunity for the participation of the People of God in discerning the life and mission of the Church, especially in ecclesial communities. If nourished by authentic dialogue, and not by «soliloquies» or «interior monologues», participation can foster reciprocal relationships that allow believers to live the synodal experience as an opportunity for formation, growth, personal and Christian maturation oriented towards communion and the mission. The ecclesial community would thus become the place where the educative auctoritas of the pastors would allow to nurture relationships and orient a community style ad intra and ad extra in which the «voice» of believers, their «gifts» and their «charisms» are the conditions for germinating an ecclesiological experience of communion attentive to the times and needs of humanity.

33. L'APPORTO DI JOSEPH RATZINGER AL DIBATTITO TEOLOGICO SULLA PERSONA.

- Abstract
In this article Bertero describes the important contribute of Joseph Ratzinger in the modern debate on Person, in God and in the human being. Comin from the biblical experience and following up the dogmatic meditations, Ratzinger points out the core of the Theology of Person: the relationship. We can penetrate the Mistery of God through the Person of Son. Ratzinger defines the divine Persons as being for (Father), being from (Son) and being with (Spirit). The human being, according to Ratzinger, is Person because is imago Filii and imago Trinitatis. Person, in anthropological sense, means son. The whole work of Ratzinger explains that Person is relation: the human being comes from God (imago), is for God (similitudo) and is rooted in the human we and in the We of God. - Abstract
Unlike the common western irenic image, the Torah presents brotherhood as the site of an original conflict from which we should emancipate ourselves. This image is clear from the first of the many brotherly relationships that are described in the Pentateuch: the one between Cain and Abel. Following this interpretation, brotherhood and relationship seem antithetical concepts: as long as there is brotherhood there can be no authentic relationship with the other because the feelings of envy and jealousy characteristic of relationships between brothers (and sisters) prevail. A model that can also be taken as a guide for Jewish/Christian relations: if the way to make them stable was to conceive of themselves as independent traditions rather than sister religions? - Abstract
In the encyclical Fratres omnes, the theme of brotherhood is developed by Pope Francis, referring to philosophical theses: some of these are explicit, others remain more hidden. The most important is that of the relationship, understood as a cure and as a limit: every human being develops his own identity by living in relationship with others. Only by accepting one’s limit, the conditions are created for the recognition of the other man and for the construction of a society based on the feeling of brotherhood. The article highlights some critical issues in the encyclical regarding the concept of «dream» and that of «contract» and identifies in Fratres omnes the seed of a poetics of brotherhood. Infidelity is a challenging topic for both couples involved and clinicians who take care of them. Even though it is a spreading phenomenon, research thereon is still limited. The complexity of the construct makes it difficult to define. This study aims to systematize the researches available in the literature on infidelity definition, consequences, and clinical implications. It was carried out a scientific literature review of articles published from 1987 until April 2021. The analysed studies showed that researchers, clinicians, and laic people conceptualize infidelity in different ways and the consequences of infidelity can be extremely varied and they are distinct for the betrayed partner, the philandering, and the lover. It was demonstrated that couples who remain together after an affair are those who disclose that and engage themselves in therapy. There are no evidence-based interventions specific for infidelity, but it was showed that trust and forgiveness are central elements of psychological interventions. Expanding knowledge and developing specific instruments for clinicians is necessary to help them to navigate this process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FATHERS of the church , *DOGMA , *MONARCHY , *TRINITY , *GOD - Abstract
It is the presentation of the Trinitarian perspective of the Metropolitan of Ioannis Zizioulas of Pergamo "based on an original reinterpretation of the Greek Church Fathers, around the Father as the freedom of God's being, beyond the necessity of nature and the contingency of choice". Rather than recalling the many significant passages of the research, here we limit ourselves to hinting at the double direction of the investigation, one strictly more theological, relating to the 'monarchy' of the Father in the Trinity, the other strictly more philosophical, relating to the distance of oriental thinking, which serves as the frame of the Trinitarian dogma, from Western philosophical thinking. In the concluding part, the twofold aspect of Franciscan-Bonaventurian thinking is mentioned, which is both Western and Eastern at the same time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Some sociologists contributing to the foundations of relational sociology on the international stage have been recently remarking a kind of affinity between both notions of social relation and social life: they particularly refer to the pioneering views of Georg Simmel, who is largely mentioned and concerned in the following paper. The interaction among social subjects generates unexpected and emergent forms which sociologist must detect and inquiry: the interactive feature of any relation refers to the "content" of the social relation itself. Form and content stand for social life. This paper aims at addressing and deepening relational perspective, as regarded by Pierpaolo Donati, towards a Lebenssoziologie: in short, it hints to concern sensu strictissimo social relations as forms of social life. This lucky locution (i.e. Lebenssoziologie), adopted by Scott Lash more than ten years ago into a new interpretation of Simmel's social theory, concerns social life in terms of stream which fits with analysis on such themes as media and ICT. In this contribution, Donati's relational sociology is challenged and thematised in relation of a critical and relational Lebenssoziologie. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

42. Persona: da individuo a essere in relazione.

- Abstract
Pope Francis, in his teachings, frequently distances himself from individualistic anthropology - so widespread nowadays -, proposing, instead, a vision of man inspired by the Scripture, where the person is presented as a relational being, finding its true self in the dialogue with a «you», because it is created in the image of the Trinity. Which are the philosophical roots of individualistic anthropology characterizing our time? Which paradigm does Pope Francis propose instead? Which are the theological and philosophical sources he draws on, in his attempt to think of the person as a relational being? Is there a biblical page that, more than any other, can be helpful to outline the essential features of this new anthropology? This is what this article aims to take into consideration. MENTAL depression , *QUANTITATIVE research , *COMPUTER programming , *PSYCHOANALYTIC interpretation , *VERBAL behavior , *PLAY therapy , *EMOTIONS - Abstract
This is a quantitative study of an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with major depression who in all but one session made a sandplay. A computerized system was used to analyse the written verbalizations on four dimensions of positive and negative: emotions, contracts (psychosocial agreements, relationships, etc.), performance (behaviour) and rewards. It was hypothesized that the verbalizations made by the patient (recorded by the therapist) would become more positive and less negative during the course of therapy. The positive and negative values of the four dimensions were correlated with the session number. This was supported on two (performance & contract) of the four positive dimensions (statistically significant). The hypothesis that the negative dimensions would become less negative was supported on all four dimensions (statistically significant). Thus, six of the eight hypotheses were supported. This uninvestigated area of research illustrates verbal interactions between patient and therapist were an important aspect of sandplay therapy. Through reanalysing the sessions for quantitative content, written recording of direct quotes and observation of behaviour, data was entered into a valid and reliable coding system to quantitatively analyze the verbalizations. This analysis of verbalizations of the patient and observations made by the therapist indicates sandplay therapy is multifaceted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The therapeutic process comes to life only when it filters through the person of the therapist. This specific process takes a shape by way of the convictions, the states of mind, the history and the system of values of the therapist. What are the aspects inherent to the person of the therapist who are evaluated as most important in the course of psychotherapy? Can our patients help us better understand these aspects? To answer these questions, we conducted a research with the aim of investigate which aspects of the therapist's person emerge in a more incisive way in a group of patients who have completed an individual, couple or family therapy training. To this aim, a questionnaire of 36 multi-choice items was constructed, which was self-submitted to a group of patients who had completed a psychotherapeutic training. The adjectives presented concerned aspects of the therapist's person divided into 6 axes: temperament, communication, respect, competence, warmth, authenticity. Half of the items were adjectives with positive connotations (selfassured, welcoming), and the remaining half with negative connotations (rigid, authoritarian). Patients who found therapy useful outlined very specific aspects of the therapist's person. These aspects seem to be more concerned with the axis of temperament, the one that has more to do with the person of the therapist. These traits could be the basis for the emotional involvement of the patient and therefore of the therapeutic relationship itself. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
