This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the research perspective on current medical English vocabulary teaching over the last fifteen years (from 2009 to 2023). The objective is to offer references and measures for instructors, researchers, and higher educational institutions to improve medical English vocabulary teaching. To achieve this, a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was employed, resulting in the selection and meticulous examination of 168 articles. As identified in this review, studies conducted on medical English vocabulary have mainly been non-empirical, focusing on describing terminologies and teaching strategies and taking undergraduates as the primary research participants. The most popular effective teaching strategies identified through the review encompasses word structure, mind mapping, etymology, and multimedia. It is noteworthy that there has been a significant sharp upward research trend from 2018 to 2023. Several factors influencing medical English vocabulary teaching have been illuminated, namely, non-diverse teaching strategies/methods, inadequate course/curriculum, shortage of professional teachers, and limited needs analysis. Despite numerous studies that have focused on medical English vocabulary teaching, few were recorded in the review of it. This study presents a holistic and in-depth review on medical English vocabulary teaching in the past fifteen years, which will provide educators and higher educational institutions with comprehensive understanding of the existing research landscape and contribute valuable references to ongoing and future scholarly pursuits within this field. At present, the global consensus on the concept of sustainable development continues to deepen, and China's ecological civilization construction and rural revitalization strategy continue to advance. However, the rural environmental situation in China is becoming more and more complex. Therefore, a comprehensive review and summary of China's rural environmental governance research are particularly important, which can not only provide theoretical support for future research but also offer vital guidance for governance practices. Based on the research literature of CNKI (1993-2023) and WOS (2001-2024), bibliometrics and CiteSpace software are adopted in this review to tease out the main characteristics, research hotspots and evolution trends of rural environmental governance research in China. The results indicate that: 1) Research interest shows an overall upward trend, with an expanding scale of interdisciplinary scholars and teams emerging. The collaboration network among authors and institutions in WOS appears tighter than that in CNKI. 2) In CNKI, Research hotspots revolve around environmental issues and pollution governance, social participation and governance mechanisms, ecological civilization and sustainable development, and rural revitalization and construction. In WOS, research hotspots pivot towards policy implementation and governance mechanisms, environmental issues and resource management, socio-economic impacts and equity, information disclosure and community participation, and technology and methods. 3) The research in CNKI has undergone three stages: "initiation", "development", and "deepening". In contrast, the research in WOS started relatively late and is currently still in the "development" stage. Future research should focus on enhancing disciplinary integration and fostering collaboration among domestic and international scholars and institutions. Under the rural revitalization strategy, focus should be on achieving symbiosis between rural economic growth and ecological civilization construction. Simultaneously exploring diverse stakeholder governance models, focusing on rural living environment issues and striving to reduce rural carbon emissions to address climate change challenges. Introduction: Human capital is widely acknowledged as the most critical asset of any organization, and employee training is indispensable for enhancing productivity. Doctoral programs, by offering specialized training across diverse fields, play a pivotal role in cultivating a skilled and specialized workforce. Through the acquisition of specific attributes, doctoral students can serve as a highly skilled labor force within organizations, contributing to increased efficiency and productivity. The objective of this study is a systematic review of existing research on the characteristics of doctoral students to identify these qualities, assess the current state of research in this domain, and pinpoint research gaps. Methodology: This applied research employed a systematic review methodology adhering to the Kitchenham and Charters model (2007) to identify the anticipated characteristics and indicators of doctoral students. The process entailed: Establishing the research necessity, formulating research questions, identifying reliable databases, and Determining relevant keywords. A three-stage screening process, examining titles, abstracts, and full content, was employed to eliminate irrelevant and duplicate items. This yielded a final dataset of 135 studies (92 foreign and 43 domestic), comprising journal articles, conference papers, and theses. Findings: The focal point of this research is to investigate four primary inquiries concerning the anticipated attributes of doctoral students. The first inquiry pertains to the expected personal characteristics of doctoral students. These personal characteristics have been categorized into three domains: behavioral, psychological, and ethical. Behavioral characteristics encompass diligence, perseverance, persistence, energy, intelligence, tenacity, courage, risk-taking, self-awareness, opportunism, sense of duty, responsibility, independence, project autonomy, flexibility, adaptability, emotional well-being, curiosity, sensitivity, and foresight. Ethical characteristics encompass politeness, integrity, composure, dedication, impartiality, reliability, organization, adherence to ethical principles, and personal presentation. Psychological attributes include cognitive abilities, motivation, self-assurance, self-awareness, stress and anxiety management, psychological acumen, overall health, a balanced approach to perfectionism, creativity, critical and philosophical thought, receptivity to feedback, teamwork, decision-making, adaptability, time management, strong interpersonal abilities, problem-solving, planning, financial literacy, work-life-study balance, leadership, communication, verbal proficiency, and public speaking. The second question pertains to research-related attributes, which are classified into two categories: research competencies and research focus. Research competencies encompass mentorship and the capacity to guide research endeavors, writing proficiency, research methodology, bibliographic and computational abilities, attention to detail and breadth of perspective within research undertakings, adherence to research ethics, research experience, and information retrieval skills. Research focus pertains to factors such as interest in the research domain, selection of a suitable thesis topic, goal-oriented research activities, the quality of research and thesis, and participation in research projects. The third research question pertains to educational characteristics, which are classified into two categories: learning skills and teaching skills. Learning skills encompass discussion, academic interaction, a continuous learning disposition, and the ability to participate in and leverage academic social networks. Teaching and learning skills include entrepreneurship training, mentorship, pedagogical abilities, and prior teaching experience. The fourth research question pertains to professional characteristics, which are classified into two categories: professional skills and professional interactions. Professional skills encompass the ability to provide professional consulting services, proficiency in foreign languages, computer literacy, leadership capabilities, expertise, adherence to professional and legal ethics, professional experience, academic and educational qualifications, capacity for collaborative projects, employment within a specialized field, and knowledge of field experts. Professional interactions involve cultivating professional networks, engaging with professional institutions, awareness of career trajectories, and industry interaction. Furthermore, the findings indicate that domestic research has placed greater emphasis on personal characteristics such as creativity, responsibility, commitment, and problem-solving skills. In contrast, foreign research has predominantly focused on behavioral health issues. While both bodies of research acknowledge the importance of self-awareness, domestic studies additionally emphasize motivation, whereas foreign studies prioritize stress management and psychological literacy. Perseverance and persistence were highlighted more frequently in domestic research. With regard to research capabilities, both domestic and foreign studies concur on the significance of research conduct and ethical adherence. However, foreign research has shown a particular interest in thesis topic selection and research passion. In terms of educational aspects, foreign research has emphasized academic interactions and network utilization, while domestic studies have primarily focused on discussions. Both streams of research recognize the importance of entrepreneurship training and teaching skills. Concerning professional attributes, foreign research has accentuated the value of specialization, while domestic research has prioritized leadership skills. Both bodies of research highlight the significance of foreign language proficiency, professional networking, and industry engagement. Conclusion This study demonstrates that doctoral students require a confluence of personal, educational, research, and professional competencies to achieve success. Findings suggest that cultivating psychological, research, and managerial acumen, coupled with a focus on academic discourse and language proficiency, can significantly enhance doctoral student outcomes. Moreover, the study illuminates gaps in domestic research pertaining to work-life balance, psychological well-being, research purpose, and innovation, thereby identifying areas ripe for further exploration. Beyond individual student attributes, this research emphasizes the influence of faculty mentorship, the academic milieu, and post-graduation employment outcomes on the overall quality of doctoral programs. A high volume of global medical information exchanges has escalated due to the recent pandemic that has hit the world. In addressing international demands of sorts, it is imperative that students improve their English language proficiency, especially for medical purposes. Sufficient vocabulary knowledge is vital for language skills to be employed effectively. However, in China, limited attention has been given to vocabulary learning over the years, especially English for Medical Purposes (EMP) vocabulary since it is very large, complex and filled with jargon. Research shows that students perceive the difficulty of EMP to lie in the learning of vocabulary itself. Faced with problems and challenges in the process of EMP vocabulary learning through memorization technique, theoretical research is urgently required to comprehensively reveal the research status of EMP vocabulary memorization. Therefore, this study adopts the systematic literature review method to evaluate related research on EMP vocabulary memorization in China and abroad from 2011 to 2021. The main characteristics of EMP vocabulary memorization research, the factors that affect EMP vocabulary memorization, and the most popular memory strategies are elaborated in detail in order to integrate the existing fragmented knowledge and demonstrate the development of EMP vocabulary memorization technique(s). BIBLIOMETRICS ,CARBON emissions ,GREENHOUSE gases ,ENERGY industries ,PARIS Agreement (2016) - Abstract
Power sector carbon emissions (PSCEs) have received an increasing attention due to their huge contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions. Herein, the research characteristics and trends of PSCEs are investigated based on bibliometric analysis. The basic growth trends, contributions of the most productive countries/territories, institutions, authors, journals, and subject categories are analyzed systematically. In addition, the major research fields and research trends are investigated by the keywords co-occurrence analysis and topic evolution. The result indicates that PSCEs research has developed rapidly in the past 20 years, and the proportion of research funding has increased from 0 at the beginning to 73% in the last 5 years. Especially, the number of scientific publications has shown an explosive growth after the signing of the Paris Agreement in 2016. The People's Republic of China (PR China), the USA, and England are the three most dynamic countries in the field of PSCEs research, with 64.8% of the total number of published papers. The most productive institutions are also from these countries. Based on keywords co-occurrence analysis, it is concluded that driving factors, prediction, impacts, and countermeasures of carbon emission are three major research fields. The result of thematic evolution indicates that the topics on energy transition, life cycle assessment, marginal abatement cost and energy policy have been the research hotspots in recent years. This study presents an worldwide overview of PSCEs research, thus helping the stakeholders to quickly grasp the research trends and conduct future work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: All parts of the research community have an interest in understanding research impact whether that is around the pathways to impact, processes around impact, methods for measurement, describing impact and so on. This proof of concept study explored the relationship between research funding and research impact using the case studies submitted to the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise in 2014 as a proxy for impact. Methods: The paper describes an approach to link the REF impact case studies with the underpinning research grants present in the Researchfish dataset, primarily using the publications captured in both datasets. Where possible the methodology utilised unique identifiers such as Digital Object Identifiers and PubMed ID’s, and where this was not possible the funding information within each publication was used. Results: Through this automated approach 21% of the non-redacted case studies could be linked to a specific research grant. Additional qualitative analysis was then done for unlinked REF impact case studies, which involved reading the document to identify additional information to make the linkage. This approach was taken on 100 REF impact case studies selected at random and resulted in only seven having no identifiable research grants funding associated. The linked research grants were analysed to identify characteristics that are more frequently associated with these grants, than non-linked ones. Conclusions: This analysis did point to some interesting observations such as the grant funding linked to REF impact case studies are more likely to be longer, higher financial value, have more publications and be more collaborative (amongst other characteristics). These findings should be used with caution at present and not be over interpreted, this is due to the sample size for this proof of concept study and some potential limitations on the data which were not addressed at this stage.

This study employed a narrative review and a meta-analysis to synthesize the literature on mobile-assisted language learning (MALL). Following a systematic retrieval of literature from 2008 to 2017, 17 studies with 22 effect sizes were included based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. By categorizing the characteristics of the studies retrieved, the narrative review revealed a detailed picture of MALL research in terms of the language aspects targeted, theoretical frameworks addressed, mobile technologies adopted, and multimedia components used. The qualitative review helped to contextualize and interpret the results found in the meta-analysis, which revealed a large effect for mobile technologies in language learning, identified three variables (i.e. type of activities, modality of delivery, and duration of treatment) that might influence the effectiveness of mobile technologies, and confirmed the existence of a redundancy effect and a novelty effect in MALL practice. Implications for future research and pedagogy are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For over 30 years, proponents of district effectiveness have promoted a fairly consistent set of key practices to enable district-wide improvement; yet, the state of district effectiveness has changed very little. This paper examined three decades of research on district practices associated with school performance and student achievement to gain a better understanding of the utility of this research-base in fostering district improvement. This study used a sample of 98 peer reviewed journal articles, reports, books and book chapters, and working papers to explore (1) patterns in the research design by categorizing research types and reporting sampling methods, such as sample size and sample type; (2) patterns of district characteristics in the sample by looking at types of districts, documenting urbanicity, looking at student enrollment, and discussing the socio-economic status of the student population; and (3) patterns of authorship and research productivity by surveying the concentration of authors and determining the proliferation of data sets. Importantly, this analysis found the research base on district practices to be too limited to serve as a comprehensive guide for stakeholders at various levels of the system seeking to support district improvement. We argue that the research base is too narrow and only applicable to certain types, locations, and size of districts. Furthermore, most of the studies take place in urban districts undergoing reform, which is not generalizable to most of the districts in the United States-largely smaller, rural districts. Lastly, when you consider the authorship of these studies, the base gets even narrower, as many authors produced multiple papers from one research study; one the other hand, the remaining studies seem to be from scholars who do not consider district effectiveness as their primary research interest. In order to better understand what district practices are most effective at promoting the ability of a district to achieve the mission of delivering high quality and equitable educational experiences for each student, we make recommendations for future research.

This paper aimed at analyzing the academic production on Biology Teaching developed in Brazilian programs of post-graduation from 1972 to 2000. From 130 documents, 77 researches had been particularly considered, to serve as the basis for a historical-epistemological study. It was considered theses and dissertations on Education, Mathematics Education and Science Education, which provided subsidies to the analytical reference used in this paper, guided by Fleck’s epistemological conception, more specifically by the categories of thought style, thought collective, intra-collective and inter-collective circulation of thought. The content of such theses and dissertations – the problems investigated, theoretical reference and methodological procedures adopted – made possible to present and argue that, during the period investigated, different perspectives, mainly epistemological and educational, guided the academic production on Biology Teaching. Transformations that occurred in several conceptions that based the research during those three decades were identified and characterized. It was observed that the area changed from a research centered in problems related exclusively to teaching activities and faced from a empiricist-positivist perspective, into a research whose problems considered both teachers and students activities. However, those activities were analyzed by a non-empiricist epistemological conception, from which a concept of subject comes – scientists, teachers, students and researchers on Biology Teaching –, whose most remarkable characteristic is to be active and, mainly, non-neutral. It is argued that, based on Fleck’s conception, the group of researchers on Biology Teaching may be understood as thought collectives that share epistemological, educational and methodological concepts, which have been transformed as long as the area of Biology Teaching has been built. It was possible to conclude that the consolidation of this field of research leaded to the emergency of two styles of thought. Possibly, some changes in the framework are occurring due to the new posed challenges, which still had not emerged among the problems investigated by the theses and dissertations analyzed in this paper.

, Shintoism has been a national religion in Japan since ancient time which developed on the basis of Japanese inherent race or gods. It includes not only the belief in gods and the traditional memorial ceremony, but also a wide range of life customs and ways of thinking. The research about Japanese Shintoism in Chinese academic circles began in the early 1980s, more than three decades ago. In this paper, the author collected 150 articles on research about Japanese Shintoism through a Chinese Journal Full-text Database and Chinese Duxiu Academic Retrieval System, and described, analyzed and reorganized their research results specifically, Meanwhile, the author also put forward some opinions of his own and hoped that it could give some inspiration for further research in this field.

- Abstract
Classical Chinese patent medicines(CPMs) are a kind of modern preparation developed from the experience of compatibility and application about ancient prescriptions. Its rich history of human use and reliable clinical efficacy imply the unique theoretical essence and precious value of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). With the development of evidence-based medicine and the improvement of medical policy, it is particularly urgent to evaluate the clinical values of post-marketing classical CPMs. In this paper, some problems on the clinical value evaluation of CPMs would be described, and it is considered that the simplified evaluation procedures can lead to the lack of evidence for evaluating clinical value of CPMs, causing the difficulty in evaluating the quality of CPM, lack of R&D motivation of enterprises, low content of science and technology, and poor international development. Based on this background, it points out that the clinical value evaluation is the core of the post-marketing evaluation of the classical CPMs, and the eva-luation should be based on the direction of literature research and the latest practice. We should adhere to the research mode of combination disease with syndrome, and select the appropriate type of trials, with clinical efficacy, health economic benefits and safety eva-luation as the main content of the studies, in order to refine the indications and standardize the clinical positioning. Clinical value eva-luation is the basis and main content of post-marketing comprehensive researches on classic and famous CPMs to clarify their clinical value, obtain the conditions for continued marketingand standardize their clinical application, so as to optimize the evidence and quality service of classic and famous CPMs and inherit the core value concept of Chinese medicine.

Despite the growing importance of "Technology Management" (TM) field in advanced countries since 1990s, it is rather new for developing countries such as Turkey. Considering the diversity of needs and concerns in different countries, the evolution of TM discipline can be expected to follow different paths to include different national experiences and to consider unique national needs and concerns in relation with technology management. Therefore, to what extent this diversity is reflected in the mainstream TM research agenda is an important issue. Thus, the aim of this study is in two folds; first, to examine how the general research characteristics and agenda of TM discipline have evolved in the academic research in Turkey, and next, to what extent they have converged or diverged with the patterns of mainstream TM research in international journals, by analyzing the TM articles published by Turkish academics both in the national and international scientific journals. The findings of this research reveal that the TM discipline in Turkey indicate both divergent and convergent characteristics when compared with the results of recent studies about developed and developing countries. In addition, a significant difference is observed about how these characteristics are reflected in national and international journals. Publisher's Version WOS:000261710001040
