Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has had clear and dramatic repercussions on health, the economy, and psychosocial well-being. Behavioral measures, such as wearing facemasks and maintaining distance from others, have proven crucial in fighting the contagion’s spread. This study aimed to investigate Type A personality traits and sociodemographic predictors of adherence to governmental measures in a sample of frail individuals. Methods A sample of 105 Italians over age 60 (Mean age = 70 years; 60.6% male) affected by hypertension who participated in a previous longitudinal study were assessed through a telephone structured interview. Sociodemographic information and Type A personality traits were retrieved from the original longitudinal study. Adherence behaviors were investigated through several questions regarding the compliance with home confinement, the use of facemasks and the observance of social distancing. Repeated measures Analyses of Variance (RMANOVA), Reliable Change Index, and binomial logistic regression analysis were performed. Results Only 33.3% of the participants reported adherence to all the governmental COVID-19 measures. Being a woman (OR = 4.84; 95% CI = 1.58, 14.90; p

The frame of risk and protection factors in relation to the social and educational adaptation of unaccompanied foreign minors is very complex. This qualitative Systematic Review aims to analyze the most recent scientific research on psychological, educational and social variables that can contribute to adaptation, in order to outline the factors on which to work in order to structure intervention strategies as well as to structure life projects in line with the evidence. The literature search conducted identified 11 empirical studies. The results highlighted specific risk and protection factors, contextual (e.g. role of peers, teachers and parents) and individual (e.g. mental health, coping strategies, resilience) related to the adaptation of unaccompanied foreign minors. In addition to discussing the practical implications of the studies in line with development models, the methodological limitations found in the studies are also highlighted and future perspectives indicated.

The consumption of psychoactive substances in Colombia has increased, both legal and illegal, especially in university students, if we review the national studies on consumption developed by the Colombian Drug Observatory (2016), we can conclude that not only does consumption increase, but the age of onset decreases, which also constitutes greater needs for care in specialized services for substance abuse. Research questions arise: what are the substances consumed by young university students in Colombia? What risk and protective factors are prioritized in university contexts for the prevention of substance abuse? The objectives of this research were: to identify which drugs are being consumed by young people and how the foundations of prevention programs are established. Methodologically, to carry out the present narrative review, a search was carried out in PubMed, Lilacs, Scielo, Dialnet databases. A chain search was also performed and other studies were located using bibliographic reference lists of the studies retrieved in the primary search. This is a narrative review was carried out under criteria of international standards. The critical evaluation of the articles consisted of the complete reading of the study, its evaluation and filling of the data collection instrument. Those studies published in duplicate or found in more than one database were considered only once. Once all the sources were integrated, it was decided to organize the evidence found by cities, consumption substances, risk perception, risk and protection factors. The results show an emphasis on the consumption of alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana as an illegal substance is the most consumed and considered the initiation channel for other substances. After these, relatively significant use of inhalants, cocaine and LSD is shown. It is evident that the consumption of psychoactive substances presents a behavior similar to that reported by epidemiological studies, the prevalence of consumption is higher for legal substances, as well as the age of onset is lower for these. In conclusion, the following stand out as risk factors: the life cycle and ease of access; and as a protective factor: satisfaction with the career and a positive vision of the future. With this panorama, the Ministry of National Education of Colombia (MEN) (2008) proposes as a strategy to reduce academic dropout, the creation of psychological support programs for students that are focused on the identification and monitoring of people at risk of consumption of psychoactive substances. It is necessary to build campaigns within the framework of social advertising in two scenarios: one, communications conceptualized by professionals towards public awareness training; and two, prevention campaigns to focus on areas and foci of influence, sectored and atomized to specific problems, specific substances and target adopting public. Likewise, the preventive practices that must be incorporated must aim at three areas: recognition of the negative consequences of drug abuse; clear, systematic and efficient communication; and to the promotion of sound decision-making by young people. The promotion of mental health in national health systems and professional health organizations need prevention campaigns with the participation of communities. Within the limitations of this study, this article is the product of the narrative review carried out for Colombia, as it is described geographically, only characterization of three of the regions is obtained and with a strong emphasis on studies of the capital city (Bogotá), the other two regions that are not described are areas with an active presence of illicit crops that generate a permanent relationship of the communities with the substances, and even with indigenous groups with consumption associated with their cultural identity, aspectsthat are not reflected by not have information on these areas. Introduction: Numerous epidemiological studies indicate that Parkinson's disease (PD) results from a complex interaction between several factors, some of which confer risk and others protection. However, when the methodological design of each study is thoroughly analyzed, it is found that many did not control for various confounding factors, opening the possibility that the identified association (or absence of it) was in fact a methodological artifact. Objective: To highlight some of the confounding factors that should be controlled to minimize sources of bias in epidemiological studies of risk and protection factors for PD. Development: A description is made of the possible sources of bias in the studies of factors that have been associated with an increased risk of developing PD (exposure to pesticides, traumatic brain injuries, having relatives in the first and second degree with PD, having suffered from depression, having a history of chronic constipation), as well as factors that seem to confer protection (consumption of tobacco, caffeine and nonsteroidal analgesic drugs). Conclusions: It is necessary to reach a consensus on the methodology of epidemiological studies of risk/protection factors associated with PD. To reduce bias, the following measures are recommended: (1) apply criteria that increase the certainty that family members with PD were correctly diagnosed, (2) quantitatively estimate the intensity and duration of the factors under study, (3) reduce bias due to reverse causality, excluding from the analysis factors that could occur as a consequence of the prodromal symptoms of PD, which conservatively begin 10 years before diagnosis. TEENAGE girls , *EATING disorders , *GENDER differences (Psychology) , *BODY image , *WEIGHT loss - Abstract
Background: In recent years, the broad spectrum of weight-related problems has increased considerably among both teenage boys and girls. This makes it fundamental to create programs that are more efficient. The objective of this study was to evaluate the short-, mid- and longterm efficacy of the current prevention program applied to 14-year-old teenagers. Method: For this study, 73 girls and 83 boys were assigned to an experimental condition (n=156), while 68 girls and 84 boys were assigned to a control condition (n=152). We used a mixed 2 (control and experimental condition) x 3 (Time: post-test, 6 month-follow-up and 12-month-follow-up) factorial design. Results: Those participants who belonged to the experimental condition exhibited significantly higher scores of body satisfaction, self-esteem, emotional repair and clarity, lower scores of self-oriented perfectionism, and internalization of thinness and ideal muscularity compared to the control group in post-intervention assessments and in both follow-ups. No statistically significant gender differences were found regarding the effectiveness of the program. Discussion: Universal, ecological programs may be effective in reducing risk factors and/or maximizing protective factors, which could in turn reduce concerns about body image, eating and weight. The issue of suicide has always been a very sensitive and important problem, that raises many questions in the society where it occurs, that is not always able to oppose an adequate response. Every scientist in the field agrees that this is an act provoked by multifaceted reasons, which include cultural, social and biographical motives. Therefore, this topic also poses ethical and civil problems, as well as epistemologic and research methodology issues, because of its complexity as a subject of study. The authors propose a case-by-case contribution, evaluating the judicial acts on 73 suicides made available by the Bari Public Prosecutor's Office for the years 2014-2016. The authors believe collected and systematized data, and the ensuing considerations, can offer a contribution to the debate in the field of legal and socio-healthcare actors, who are often the first to deal with and confront this complex and tragic phenomenon. - Abstract
Introduction. The purpose of the study was to determine the existence of risk and protection factors associated with the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana in seventh through ninth grade students in Educational Centers of the city of San Salvador, El Salvador, Centro America. Methodology. The study was focused on the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana consumption because, according to the reviewed background, these are the most consumed drugs in the country. It was carried out in five study centers, with a descriptive approach and a transversal design, in a non probabilistic sample of 268 students. Results. The consumption of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana among adolecents continues to be present with prevalences of consumption consistent with those reported by the country for this population in recent years, where the male sex had a higher consumption than female. We found 33 risk factors associated with the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana; and only six protection factors. Conclusion. It is considered that the existence of many risk factors and few protective factors in the environment are o a greater use of drugs ant the low effectiveness of drug prevention programs or strategien in general. - Abstract
The adolescents interactive processes at school, peers and family contexts presents considerable weight in the study of risk and protective factors associated with the development of aggressive behavior. Given this premise we intend to analyze the relationship between the perception that young people have of their social support and the school climate and the development of different forms and functions of aggressive behavior. Participated in the study 851 adolescents aged between 11 and 19 years, attending elementary and high school grades. Using hierarchical regression, 2 models are presented that capture significant risk and protective factors for reactive overt aggression, reactive relacional aggression, instrumental overt aggression, and instrumental relacional aggression. Results reveal several insteresting patterns of risk and protection for each subtipe of aggressive behavior. Relationships with parents and school climate are key predictors for this sample, representing both risk and protection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose was to identify risk factors associated to deficit on linear growth in children from a semi-rural population in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. In a cross sectional study 432 children, 12 to 120 months old were included. Social, demographic, economical, dietetic and pathological characteristics and deficit in the height /age index (< - 1 and - 2 z score) were considered. A chi square test and Odds Ratio (CI 95%) to identify the risk and protection factors were also obtained. Risk factors for height/age deficit were: > 3 children in the family [OR 1.71 (1.01, 2.87)], soft drinks consumption > 4 times a week [OR 2.36 (1.19-4.73)], family’s monthly income < 200 USA dollars [OR 3.5 (1.28, 9.76)] and per capita food expenses < 10% of a minimum salary (100 USA dollars a month) [OR 1.81 (1.06, 3.09)]; age < 24 months [OR 2.02 (1.09, 3.75)], adding sweeteners to the bottle [OR 8.56 (1.84, 54.9)], diet modification during diarrhea [OR 2.40 (1.02, 5.77)], milk intake < 4 times a week [OR 2.71 (1.55, 4.73)] and nearly significant, bean consumption [1.75 (0.98, 3.13). Protection factors: nuclear family [OR 0.28 (0.09, 0.85)] and an adequate infant formula dilution [OR 0.71 (0.60, 0.85)]. In multivariate models associated factors to deficit of height were higher consumption of soft drinks, beans and the addition of sweeteners to the bottle. In addition to socioeconomic variables, lower consumption of high quality food and proteins and higher intake of legumes were important risk factors for mild and moderate deficit height/age.

This paper aims to identify the risk and protective factors underlying the initiation, maintenance and cessation of criminal behavior. To this end, the story of a 38-yearold Spanish woman who was in open prison regime at the time of the interview was analyzed (2020). The results showed a great variety of risk factors in the beginning and persistence of the criminal activity of the participant during her youth; on the contrary, at present, the interviewee stated the disappearance of a wide number of factors that originally stimulated her illicit behavior and the appearance of new protection factors. The significance of the identification of factors that may encourage and maintain illicit behavior is evident in order to understand which factors may predict recidivism or reinsertion.

The present study sought to investigate the risk and protection factors for the promotion of mental disorders during pregnancy and from pregnancy to postpartum. For this, a theoretical study was conducted and two empirical articles. Initially, the theoretical study was conducted in the literature review format, in order to identify the studies published in the area. The results showed a deficit in longitudinal studies with Brazilian samples. Next, a study was conducted with 153 pregnant women, to develop a model with outcomes and predictors through regression analysis, for the purpose of identifying risk and protective factors for mental disorders in gestation. The results pointed out different predictors for certain outcomes. Study three reassessed 97 women in the postpartum period, who had participated in the previous study, during pregnancy. Thus, it was characterized by being longitudinal and making it possible to survey risk and protection variables in this transition from pregnancy to postpartum, in relation to the promotion of mental disorders. The results mainly pointed out two factors as the most frequent among the outcomes, namely emotional abuse and the item beliefs related to the judgment of others. Finally, the last and fourth study, refers to the adaptation and validation of the Attitudes Toward Motherhood Scale for the Brazilian population. The analyzes proved to be an adequate instrument for the proposed purposes. Therefore, the set of articles in this thesis contributes to clarify the aspects involved in maternal mental disorders, specifically in the gestational and postpartum period, as well as the feasibility of using an adapted instrument that allows assessing cognitive issues, beliefs, related to maternity, for the Brazilian population. From the results, the importance of developing effective prevention and intervention programs with this population is emphasized, also aiming to minimize the impacts caused by the presence of mental disorders in women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Family and school contexts have a major impact on the lives of children and young people, being one of the main causes of youth violence. It is through these means of socialization that learning is built, which can lead to deviant and delinquent behaviours and a possible welcoming situation. The relationship between parents and children is fundamental in determining behaviours, as well as the existence of protective factors after birth, becomes indispensable in combating risk factors. The “Risk and Protection Factors, Antisocial Behaviours and Consumption of Illicit Substances in Institutionalized Youths” is an investigation that aims to understand the factors that are intrinsic to life stories and that have led to institutional care, as well as the way in which children develop and young people between childhood and adolescence can or trigger risky / dangerous behaviours. The methodology of life stories was used through a qualitative approach, using semistructured interviews with seven institutionalized young men. The specific objectives were to: theoretically analyse risk / danger behaviours; understand how the risk factors that are inherent to young people / teenagers can trigger deviant behaviour’s; identify the consequences that underlie the practice of delinquent acts and antisocial behaviour; and understand the process of change that young people have to overcome since it is institutionalized. The results show that the main source of the reception in residential care lies in the family; the most evident risk factors are mainly negligence, abuse, absence of a father figure, socioeconomic problems, drug use, school failure and social exclusion; the family environment and the child's temperament are related to each other; experiences prior to institutionalization have an impact on the lives of children and young people; the adaptation process in the residential care is not easy and young people have perspectives for their future.

In order to differentiate between types of routine leisure activities and to evaluate their corresponding protection/risk value in adolescent development, we performed a study with a sample of 218 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 14 years by asking them to fill out a grid that analysed their daily routines. The results are presented here. They were required to account for each hour of a weekday by specifying whether they were awake or asleep, the place they were at, who they were with, and what type of activity they were engaged in. A group of these adolescents (N = 59) were considered to be at risk (they formed part of a social integration and marginalization prevention program), whereas the rest (comparison group) were their classmates. A multiple correspondence analysis was performed, revealing the existence of four adolescent typologies according to daily routines. The analysis showed that the routines incorporating a greater variety of leisure activities, as well as more creative, organized, and supervised activities, were associated with adolescents who possessed a more normative development, whereas more monotonous, unstructured and unsupervised activities tended to be characteristic of adolescent development at risk. TEENAGE pregnancy , *YOUTH Self-Report , *MOTHERHOOD , *POVERTY , *PSYCHOLOGY of teenage girls - Abstract
Introduction: breeding in adolescence is among the concerns related to youth development and health, not necessarily with a negative significance. Objective: the present study researched competence data, psychological problems and indicative of risk and protection factors inside a group of pregnant teenagers and teen mothers. Method: for that purpose, the Youth Self Report (YSR) and a scale of risk/protection factors during teen maternity (FRIP) were used. We surveyed 46 adolescents between 13 and 18 years, users of health services offered in Santos (SP) region: 27 at first pregnancy and 19 with firstborns under one year of age. Results: the level of competence was lower among poorer adolescents, were they pregnant or mothers. Poverty was not associated with indicators of psychological problems, which were evaluated within a normality range by the YSR. Mothers presented self reference of personal qualities in levels significantly higher than the pregnant girls. Risk / protection factors involving environmental systems were indicated. Claims of hope and dreams about their own lives besides positive contacts with their families and with the fathers of their children were appointed as protection factors, while the proximity of their households to the traffic of drugs was the main risk factor identified. Conclusion: p rotection factors derived from the environmental contextures of the adolescents researched might be related to the development of the competence, an important resource regarding the situation of adolescent motherhood. The feminization of work-related migration alters family roles and relationships and has a direct impact on the development of the children left behind. The purpose of this study is to show the risk and protection factors perceived in Dominican society for children when the mother emigrates. Risk factors include a lack of mother-child communication; being demanding in relationships; and an anomalous substitute family atmosphere. Conversely, protection factors encompass frequent communication with the mother; an affectionate relationship between the guardian and the child; when the guardian is a family member who is very close to the mother and the promotion of values such as thrift, effort and sacrifice. The results of social perception coincide with existing literature, but it is debatable whether the factors perceived are actually those that most affect the psychological and social development of children left behind by migration. The objective of this study was to examine the association between the death of a biological parent and subsequent suicide attempts by young people (aged 10-22 years), and to explore sociodemographic factors as modifying factors in the process. The study used a nested case-control design. The full study population was obtained from the Danish longitudinal registers and included all individuals born between 1983 and 1989 ( n = 403,431 individuals). The 3,465 registered suicide attempters from that group were matched with 75,300 population-based control subjects. Potentially confounding variables including age and gender were controlled for by conditional logistic regression analyses. The findings indicated that young people who had lost one biological parent showed a significantly increased risk of attempting suicide (relative risk = 1.71, 95% confidence interval = 1.49-1.96). Losing the remaining parent nearly doubled the risk (relative risk = 2.7, 95% confidence interval = 1.48-5.06). Experiencing the death of one or both biological parents increased the risk of suicide attempts in young people. Relative risk was moderated by high income of the father. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study was designed to examine the causal paths that predict antisocial behavior and the consumption of legal and illegal substances (drugs) in adolescents. The sample comprised 1,629 adolescents, 786 males and 843 females, between 14 and 18 years old. All participants provided reports of family, school, personality, and peer-group factors related to substance consumption and antisocial behavior in adolescence. A biopsychosocial multivariate model was used to predict both legal and illegal substance use, and an adequate match was obtained for both. However, much more variance was accounted for in legal compared to illegal substance use. The major predictors of alcohol and marijuana use were personality factors (aggression and impulsivity) and scholarly factors (adaptation to school and good grades) whereas the major predictor of illegal drug use was negative peer relations (violence and non-conformity). Identification of associated risk factors serves as a basis for appropriate prevention programs to reduce antisocial behaviors and substance use in adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The goal of this investigation was to detect individual and social variables that contribute to the strengthening of the resilience process in 210 school adolescents (male and female) of a low social-economic level residing in the City of Córdoba (Argentina). The research carried out detected two groups (resilient and non-resilient) which were compared in relation to social demographic characteristics and with variables now being study. The research found significant differences concerning self-concept, social support, intelligence and stressful situations in life due to personal problems. The analysis done through the logistic multiple regressions indicates that self-concept is the best predictable variable of resilience, followed by social support and self-regulation skills (cognitive and emotional). Važno je prepoznati ovaj problem, razviti i uložiti u obrazovanje mladih te osigurati različite mjere socijalnih politika za prevenciju i smanjivanje rizika ispadanja učenika iz sustava obrazovanja., This paper deals with youth dropping out from education system, which poses a major social risk. Dropout of young people from the education system is recognized as a significant problem in the European context, but in the Croatian context this problem is not sufficiently researched. The issue of young people who have dropped out of the education system is a very complex one because of various factors that can affect it. These factors can be related to the individual, his immediate environment, family, peers, school system and the wider social environment. The consequences of dropping out from the education system may be different, including economicones, such as temporary employment, unemployment and low economic incomes, personal ones, such as lowself-esteem, family problems and social consequences, such as antisocial behaviour and social exclusion. It is important to recognize this problem, to develop and invest in youth education and to provide different social policy measures to prevent and reduce the risk of dropping out of students from the education system.

Treball Final de Màster Universitari en Cooperació al Desenvolupament (Pla de 2015) (A distància). Codi: SRP522. Migratory movements have existed throughout History, also in a globalized world like the present one. However, there is a more recent phenomenon that has experienced a notable increase in recent years, namely the migration of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors (MENA). These minors are impelled to leave their country, due to conditions of violence, poverty, wars, violation of human rights. The present work approaches, from the point of view of resilience, the attention that is offered to the MENA upon their arrival in the Comunidad Valenciana, when they enter Centers for Child Protection. Research begins with a conceptual review of different resilience models to assess the possibility of working on generating and promoting resilience in MENA centers. To do this, empirical research through observation of their daily work is carried out in order to observe the performance of professionals working in juvenile centers and assess whether they address the issue of resilience and which are the challenges they face. The study concludes a work proposal and new and complementary lines of research in the field.

- Abstract
The integration of information and communication technologies in daily life has facilitated human life, but it has also produced new problems derived from maladaptive or addictive use. In the case of young populations, it has been ob-served a few cases seem to present a problem of abuse or addiction to the internet, regardless of the device (for exam-ple, problematic mobile phone use). For this reason, in 1996 the Internet addiction construct was coined in the field of psychiatry which, although it has not yet been formally recognized, it has evolved into more specific terms depending on the use of technologies and applications which can generate addictive behaviours. In this Spanish monograph, six empirical works are described which show the scope of these addictive problems and their nature: problematic mobile phone use (e.g., nomophobia, sexting), Facebook addictive use; as well as the underlying cognitive and emotional mechanisms of these problematic uses, their risk and protective factors, and even prevention strategies. After 25 years of psychological research, the problems arising from the misuse of these technologies is still under debate, as remains a clinical entity and the need to develop better understanding about what these problems are, how to detect them in most vulnerable groups, and how to treat or prevent them in order to minimize the possible harm they may cause. In sum-mary, this monograph includes details of how internet addiction is presented, seems to be developed, can be measured, and intervened in countries of southern Europe and Latin America., Depto. de Personalidad, Evaluación y Psicología Clínica, Fac. de Psicología, TRUE, pub

The purpose of this paper is to bring light on the consequences of child abuse in the family and its impact on the developmental outcomes of children. There are several types of abuse: physical, mental, sexual, and neglect. Every type leaves burdensome and longlasting consequences on the child, especially if the abuse was long-term,hidden and unreported in the family. The consequences affect the child on different areas of its functioning, ranging from physical, mental, cognitive, social and they spread across a person's whole life and consequently make every future role that the child would take on much more difficult. In those instances the existence of institutions, experts and treatments for deliberation of a difficult and traumatic experiences such as abuse is of great importance. Besides the help and support for the victim, work with the perpetrators is also important in order for them to get an insight in their own behaviour, the consequences of that behaviour, to take responsibility and to acquire some new, different skills of solving problematic situations, conflicts, and raising children. This is due to the fact that there is no change if the victim gets back to the ambience in which nothing has changed. The awareness of the consequences of ill-treatment should be the main incentive to design remarkable and prevention programs targeting children's protection. The purpose of this paper is, therefore, to emphasize the importance of preventing child abuse in the family, to show possible protective factors that should be nurtured by preventive activities and to make sure to take advantage of a carefree growth and development of each child.

The purpose of this study was to investigate social workers professional experiences of social services statutory responsibilities to provide advice, support and other help to foster families. Furthermore, the purpose was to analyze what factors and conditions that affects social workers ability to provide adequate support. According to both inter-national and Swedish research foster parents are asking for more support. We became curious about how foster care secretaries in Sweden give support. To get this infor-mation we had three focusgroup interviews with a total of twelve social workers. Our three focusgroups were located in municipalities in southern Sweden. The interviews were transcribed and coded for our results. The theoretical perspective we used were Urie Bronfenbrenner's theory about the ecology of human development and the perspec-tive about risk- and protection factors. The study shows that they have quite few sup-port methods to offer the foster homes and the lack of resources (time, education and economy) and vague guidelines are two factors that affects the social workers ability to provide adequate support. Although social services becomes the deputy parent of the foster child and are one protection factor in the child's life, the social services does not receive much attention in forms of for example further education.

Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos Child violence is a phenomenon difficult to notify, prevent and intervene on since it encompasses legal, economic, social, political and cultural issues, and whose complexity increases when it is intrafamilial, once it occurs among members oscillating between the roles of tutors and aggressors. Aiming to ensure the rights and, consequentially, the prevention of child violence, the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) includes right-ensuring actions to be enforced by a full protection network. Among the services offered by this network, the present study highlights the Specialized Centre of Reference for Social Assistance (CREAS), which offers specialized assistance to families and individuals in personal or social risk for violation of rights. Considering how relevant is the comprehension of the everyday life of these families and how violence is experienced in this context, this study had the objective of identifying how those linked to CREAS understand and face violence situations in their daily routines. Fourteen relatives, responsible for the daily cares of children and teenagers victims of family violence assisted by the CREAS of a large-sized city in the interior of São Paulo State, participated to the study. The instruments used to collect data were an identification form, a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ) as well as a guide for semi-structured interviews. The data analysis related to the questionnaires was descriptive and that concerning the interviews was performed according to Bardin s content analysis. The results of this study indicated that relatives implemented protective actions towards the children and the family and made attempts to live a daily life without violence. It was highlighted that risk factors present in the daily life of these families, such as social isolation, limited social support and financial vulnerability, associated with the fragmented action of the protection network, may compromise the effectiveness of the actions attempted by the responsible relatives in order to fight violence and, among other aspects, that it is impossible for the family to make the protective actions effective and maintain them over time without support from the community and the services. The results also pointed out the need to strengthen and articulate the protective network as well as to enhance its actions by incorporating to it specialized treatment services for the aggressor and expertise of child violence.

Na temelju rezultata istraživanja definirane su smjernice za ciljana preventivna ulaganja u lokalnoj sredini., Within the City of Gospić the Communities That Care (CTC) Model is being implemented; development, implementation and evaluation of the Model for preventing the behavioural disorder within the community. Within the Model's framework, research on the assessment of the risk and protective factors of the behavioural disorders among youth within the City of Gospić area has been conducted and divided into the four domains: 1) the community 2) the family, 3) school and 4) peers/individual in accordance with the modified Croatian version of the children and youth CTC Questionnaire by Mihić, Novak & Bašić (2010). The research was conducted with 281 children between ages of 15 to 18 from two City of Gospić high schools. The most pronounced risk factors within this community were: a) trends that support consumption of drugs, b) laws and the norms that support drug consumption, c) trends that support antisocial behaviour, d) disarrangement within the community, e) poor academic records, f) rebelliousness and g) easy access to drugs. The most pronounced risk factors tied to the family were: a) trends where parents are supporting the drug consumption, b) trends where parents support the antisocial behaviour, c) conflict within the family, and d) poor discipline within the family. The most pronounced risk factors connected with friends and the school were: a) low school commitments and b) friends that consume drugs. The most pronounced protective factors drawn out from all four domains were: a) the opportunities within the community for the prosocial inclusion, b) the awards within the community for supporting the prosocial inclusion, c) religiousness, d) the opportunities within schools for the prosocial inclusion, e)the awards within schools for supporting the prosocial inclusion, f) belief in the moral order, g) befriending peers that support prosocial behaviour and h) attachment to the family. More so, youth within this local community were mostly addicted to alcohol, tobacco and painkillers. Based on the research results, the guidelines for the particular investment in prevention within this local community were defined.

Rezultati mogu poslužiti kao temelj za izradu preventivnih programa na indiciranoj i selektivnoj razini., Adolescents, who go through a very dynamic period, are exposed to various environmental factors that influence the choice of their life styles, including the addictive ones. This work examines the existence and the variations of the addictive behaviour patterns among adolescents in a part of the Split-Dalmatia County. The results of this research indicate a more extensive alcohol and cigarette consumption among the adolescents who live in small rural areas. The environmental risk and protection factors described in this research, represent a link between the adolescents’ addictive behavior and their parents’ permissive attitudes which, traditionally, approve the addictive behaviour patterns, the lack of parents’ control or those of other people who are important in adolescents’ lives, especially in their free time. Parents’ education, employment and religiousness have been proved as statistically insignificant factors in this research, as opposed to the peer pressure, the media and literature influence. The results of this research could be used as a basis in creating the prevention programmes at the indicative, as well as at the selective level.

Abstract. Objective: the present study was aimed to establishing Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp. prevalence in 0 to 2 months old dairy calves of the north-western zone of the Bogota Savanna. In addition, associated factors related to a failure in Good Practices of Livestock could incur in human and animal infection. Methods: this was a cross-sectional study; calves’ fecal samples were used. Farms’ Good Practices of Livestock were observed by means of an observation blank. Giardia spp. and Cryptosporidium spp. prevalence was determinate by means of laboratory results (Ritchie for Giardia spp. and modified Ziehl-Neelsen for Cryptosporidium spp.). Odds Ratios (OR) were calculated in association between this two genera of protozoa and Good Practices of Livestock. Results Thirty three dairy farms were evaluated, where fecal samples of 308 calves were taken. Giardia spp. prevalence was 37.7 %, 115 infected animals; Cryptosporidium spp. prevalence was 4.9 %, 15 infected animals. Risk and protection factors had a strong association with Good Practices of Livestock performance. Conclusion: there is an important Giardia spp. and Cryptosporidium foci in the north-western zone of the Bogota Savanna, without a previous knowledge. Giardia spp. prevalence for this zone is in the highest rank reported for South-America (WHO, 2009) and Cryptosporidium spp. prevalence is in en the lowest one (WHO, 2009). The literature points out to the presence of biological and environmental risks for the child s development during their first years of life which could be influenced by factors present in several environments. In the national scenario, a day care center has been considered as one of the development contexts for being a place where they cohabit and interact, most of their time, with adults and their pairs. It is believed in this environment that there are early possibilities of risks, delays and deficiencies; the child s stimulation in the daily routine could be emphasized. In this sense, the importance of investments on the formation of educators in the perspective of having them as partners in the surveillance on the infant development foundation stands, therefore, in a preventable action in the field of Special Education. It is understood as surveillance all the activities related to the promotion of the normal development and to the detection of problems in the development. The study hereby aimed elaborating, implementing and evaluating a program of long distance capacitance to the day care center educators (Day care center educators development surveillance program Programa de Vigilância no Desenvolvimento para Educadores de Creche PROVIDEC) for the development of surveillance actions, in practice with babies. There were 47 municipal day care center educators of a medium-sized city from Sao Paulo state who composed the experimental group-EG and the control group-CG. The content of PROVIDEC considered the child development, risk factors and protection mechanisms, surveillance actions, the role of the educator at the day care center, stimulation opportunities in the day care center daily routine and health promotion. PROVIDEC counted on six virtual classes and with two present moments. This study was developed in three stages: preparation of fieldwork, invitation to the participants and composition of the groups; program elaboration; and, implementation and evaluation of the program by means of an experimental delimitation, with an experimental group and equivalent control, and, pre and post-test measures. It counted as well on pre and post-test instruments, characterization questionnaire from the participants, evaluation/perception questionnaire about the program, and the PROVIDEC. The use of those instruments demanded qualitative and quantitative seal analysis. From the results obtained, it is possible to note an increase on the repertoire of participants from the EG where it improves its answers at the moment of the post-test in 79 corporative items to the CG with only 8. From the qualitative point of view, the increase on the repertoire of the participants from the EG happen regarding the following themes related to the surveillance of development: the educator s attitudes at the moments where an abnormality or a risk for the child is noted, regarding the mechanisms of protection, to the marks of the Child Development and to the Risk Factors. Such results are discussed under the optics of the prevention actions in the field of Special Education. Future researches are suggested in the sense of the proposition of interface models among educators and basic health attention professionals to the development of surveillance operationalization actions.
